Loose Women host Ruth Langsford has bene flooded with support after her recent devastating news

Ruth Langsford thanked fans watching at home for their “thousands” of well wishing messages as she was supported by her co-stars following her recent heartbreaking loss.

The Loose Women host struggled to hold back tears as she opened up on her ‘heartbreaking’ loss on Monday’s (October 19) show. It comes just days after she shared sad news on social media and was flooded with support.

Part way through the show she took some time out to thank viewers who had sent messages following the loss of her family dog. Last week, Ruth announced that her dog called Maggie had “gone to sleep forever” at the age of 16.

As soon as she began to talk about her, Ruth immediately became teary eyed and was handed some tissues. Joined by Janet Street Porter, Kelly Brook and Jane Moore, they noted she had only just talked about Maggie on the show the other day.

Ruth revealed that very same day, was when they lost her. She spoke directly to the camera and thanked everyone for all their messages that she was ‘working my way through to say thank you.’

She went on to share that when she got home a relative told her that Maggie was not right and was not getting out of her bed. Ruth said it was then she knew that it was her time and added: “It was sad but it was peaceful”

She confessed that years ago, before she owned the dog, she would have ‘internally rolled her eyes’ at someone who responded in the teary manner she had over he death of a pet but now understood just how ‘heartbreaking’ it really was now.

However, Ruth also commented that she had not told her mum about Maggie’s death. This is because she is suffering with Alzheimer’s.Viewers watching along were quick to show their support.

One posted on social media: “Oh Ruth. You gave your beautiful Maggie a very happy life.” Another replied: “We can so understand Ruth. Much love xxx”

At the time, Ruth posted on Instagram : “It is with a heavy heart that I tell you our beautiful Maggie has gone to sleep forever. She was 16 years old and sadly this was her time.

“Her passing was painless and peaceful and we were with her until the very end. We are so thankful to have had her in our lives for 15 years…..she gave us so much joy & unconditional love. We will treasure our memories forever. Rest in peace our beautiful girl.”
