BRITS have now been advised against travelling to two countries in the Middle East.
It comes one month after the travel ban was lifted, but an escalation of conflict between the US and Iran means the rules have been put back in place.
The Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO) has advised “against all but essential travel” to both Bahrain and Kuwait.
The travel warning for travel to Bahrain was lifted on June 18 after being in place since March.
But the FCDO has since changed the advice due to a “risk of more attacks and unforeseen escalation in the region”.
It added: “On 20 July, the US Embassy Manama issued an advisory that Iran may seek to target unspecified locations in central Manama.
“Before the ceasefire, the Iranian regime had stated its intention to target locations associated with the US and Israel, including organisations, businesses, facilities, and institutions.”
The FCDO has advised against travel to Kuwait as well.
The advice detailed: “Since 8 July there have been strikes and retaliatory attacks by Iran in a number of locations across the region, including Kuwait, against US military and civilian infrastructure.
“There is a risk of more attacks and unforeseen escalation in the region.
“British nationals currently in the Middle East should be prepared for possible flight cancellations, periodic airspace closures, and potential travel disruptions.”
Non-essential travel is considered to include holidays, and while Brits can choose to go against the advice, this invalidates your travel insurance.
The FCDO has told Brits booked onto flights to check details with their airline before travelling.
