The countdown to Christmas is really on and now most of the retailers have shown us what they’ve been working on for months – but which festive advert is top of the viewers’ tree?
We’ve now seen most of the supermarket’s Christmas advert offerings, and many viewers have picked their favourite long before they’ve selected what they’ll be having on their festive table.
Today, the latest campaign dropped with Morrisons putting their spin on Goldilocks and the Three Bears as the battle of the retailers rages on. After a flurry of ad launches in the past week, people have been getting into the festive mood by ripping apart some of the offerings – and crowning their winner.
This year’s John Lewis Christmas ad landed last Monday and it features Slow Horses star Dame Kristin Scott Thomas as grandmother Gloria, who is trying to find the perfect gift for her hard-to-please grandchildren. Some say it’s easily bettered by Lidl’s effort, featuring Barry from EastEnders belting out Slade’s iconic anthem Merry Christmas Everybody with a special value twist.
But the advert many say is the Christmas number of is Marks and Spencer’s. It features James Norton as an undercover Santa, with Amandaland fave Lucy Punch and music icon Katherine Jenkins also makes an appearance as she performs the soundtrack, a cover of Belinda Carlisle’s Heaven Is a Place on Earth.
There’s plenty of others contenders to consider. Like Barbour, who wheeled out national treasures Wallace and Gromit. Sports Direct also had some big games with Erling Haaland and rapper Aitch helping to pick out presents. Here’s some of the best so far…
