WE ALL love a theme park – but what if you could head to one that was entirely Christmas themed?

Located just 30 minutes from Porto Airport in Portugal, you will find Perlim – the country’s largest Christmas-themed amusement park.

The theme park can be found in Santa Maria de Feira at Quinta do Castelo and it is completely transformed into a winter wonderland.

Inside, visitors will find themed areas, shows, parades, an ice rink and a number of family-friendly activities.

And you can also expect a blend of Christmas and Portuguese folklore, with this year’s theme being ‘Head of the moon, feet in Perlim’.

The park features over 150 characters, all from childhood stories, fairytales, and legends.

There are even unique characters to the park, including Perlim ‘the rascal’, who is “mischievous and playful” according to Perlim’s website.

Sparkling lights are littered across the entire park, as well as decorations.

Families can experience train rides, sleigh and ice tracks, carousels, climbing zones, slides, workshops and interactive games.

There’s even a Pirate’s Cave, with both pirates and treasure.

In typical festive style, there are also a number of stalls and kiosks with Christmas treats like hot chocolate.

During the ‘Parade of Dreams’, families can celebrate the festive season with Perlim and Santa.

The parade features lots of different performers, including musicians and singers.

There is also a circus, where families follow Kevin, a member of a famous clown family, who doesn’t want to follow in his family’s footsteps and Diego, who dreams of becoming the greatest clown in the world.

In addition to all of this, there is a Lego play zone as well.

One recent visitor said: “Very nice place to spend a day with family and kids.”

Another added: “Perlim is an enchanting place for kids, especially during the holiday season, with fun activities, colorful decorations, and a magical atmosphere.”

Perlim started back in 2008 and was originally called the “Land of Dreams”.

Last year, the event welcomed over 100,000 people and this year’s event, will be the 17th.

Set at Santa Maria da Feira’s castle, the site where Perlim is, also features a cave, pond and a stone bridge.

The easiest way to get to Perlim is by flying to Porto Airport, which is 30 minutes from the theme park.

Temperatures in Santa Maria da Feira reaches up to 14C in December.

The Christmas theme park is open from Friday to Sunday until December 30.

Tickets cost €7 (£6.16) for children aged between three and 12-years-old, then those aged between 13-years-old and 64-years-old cost €8 (£7.04) per person.

Weekend tickets cost an additional €1 (88p) each.

Alternatively, you could grab a general access wristband for €16 (£14.08), which allows visitors to attend Perlim across its entire duration.

Return flights from Bristol to Porto cost from £31 per person in December, or £40 return from London or Manchester.
