Argentina wore replicas of the country’s 1986 Fifa World Cup kit for their match against England at rugby union’s Nations Championship.

Argentina wore the dark blue kit during their 2-1 quarter-final victory over England at the tournament – which they later won – in a match made famous by Diego Maradona’s ‘Hand of God’ goal, before he scored a brilliant second.

Argentina’s rugby side, known as the Pumas, usually wear the country’s traditional white and light blue striped sporting kit.

“Memories that span generations and remain alive in the collective memory. Today that legacy dresses up again,” Los Pumas posted on X.

The sporting rivalry between the two countries was fuelled last week as Argentina came from behind in dramatic fashion to beat the Three Lions 2-1 and reach the 2026 World Cup final.

Following the match, Argentina players held up a banner reading ‘Las Malvinas son Argentinas’, which translates as ‘The Falklands are Argentine’.

Fifa is deciding whether to punish Argentina for the banner that references the Falkland Islands – a British overseas territory in the south west Atlantic Ocean that remains the subject of a sovereignty dispute between the UK and Argentina.

Before the Nations Championship match against Argentina, England switched hotels in Buenos Aires to avoid their return home being wrecked by World Cup celebrations should Argentina’s football team beat Spain in Sunday’s final.

The Nations Championship match is taking place at the Estadio Unico Madre de Ciudades in Santiago del Estero, with Steve Borthwick’s side aiming for their sixth successive win over Argentina.

Last weekend, England thrashed Fiji 73-8 to end a five-match losing run while Argentina beat Wales 35-21 last weekend after losing 47-38 to Scotland in their Nations opener.

Anything that restricts blood flow is also not advisable – particularly for long journeys.

The vein specialist at Metro Vein Centers told the Huffington Post: “Wearing restrictive garments such as skinny jeans that are too tight reduces blood’s ability to flow into and out of the legs.”

This, combined with sitting for long periods of time, can cause blood to pool in the legs, which increasing the chances of thrombosis – a serious condition where a blood clot forms in a deep vein of the leg.

For any fan of flip flops, these aren’t advisable to wear onboard a flight – again, for health and safety reasons.

Former cabin crew member Tony Kuna commented on Quora: “During an emergency, all sorts of debris and unpleasant ground surfaces will block your way towards the exit, as well as outside the aircraft.”

“If your feet [aren’t] properly covered, you’ll have a hard time making your way to safety.”

Sitting in the same category are high heels – as these won’t be easy to wear in an emergency.

Bags

There’s fewer rules when it comes to bags – apart from make sure they comply with the measurements of the airline.

But to give yourself full comfort, it’s advisable to take a less rigid bag with you if it’s going under the seat.

Having a stiff bag, like a basket or weave one, will restrict your own legroom as it can’t be compressed.

Other items

It might be tempting to pop your contact lenses in before a flight to avoid the faff of glasses.

But the dry environment on a flight really isn’t suitable.

On the London Vision Clinic website, it explains: “With the average humidity on planes coming in as low as 20 per cent, our skin and eyes can dry out pretty quickly.

“Combine this with the moisture-sapping effects of contact lenses, and you can have a real recipe for disaster on your hands.”

Wearing contact lenses on flights can cause itchy, irritated eyes and can even result in “distorted vision”.

Of course, don’t forget to pack your power bank in your hand luggage rather than a checked in bag.

The lithium in portable chargers mean that they pose a risk of overheating and even catching fire.

As a result, there has been a ban on having power banks in hold luggage since 2016.

JAMES’ RETURN TO UK

AMERICAN great James Taylor is returning to the UK for the first time in four years.

The You’ve Got a Friend singer, who has sold more than 100million records worldwide, will play London’s O2 with his All-Star band on Thursday, July 23.

James told last week that he was invited to Taylor and Travis Kelce’s wedding at Madison Square Garden in New York last week.

However, James was unable to attend because of his annual tradition of performing at Tanglewood Music Festival in Massachusetts.

LIL JOHN: FAN LOVE LIKE MJ

US rapper Lil Jon has likened Pitbull’s fan following to that of Michael Jackson.

The bald caps reminded him of MJ devotees wearing the famous single glove.

“I remember in the Eighties when people wanted the glove or the jacket.

The British Association of Audiologists – healthcare experts who specialise in diagnosing and treating ear problems – say hearing loss is one of the most common disabilities.

The charity’s audiology manager Franki Oliver says that, under a microscope, the sound-sensing cells in our ears and the tiny hairs growing out of them resemble a patch of grass at a festival.

“The first day, the grass looks absolutely beautiful,” she says. “Nice and green.”

“After the first couple of days, it’s OK. But at the end of the weekend it’s looking pretty dead and it’s probably not coming back.

“The same thing is happening with our ears when we expose them to loud noises”.

Oliver says it’s a good thing that ear-plugs are increasingly seen as an “accessory to a night out, rather than something you have to use”.

But, like our ears, they are not all created equal.

A flight attendant has shared a hygiene warning for passengers who wear certain clothes on a plane – and the reason involves what really goes on with airplane seats between flights

When choosing an outfit for a flight, most passengers prioritise comfort – reaching for leggings, jogging bottoms, or shorts to keep cool on board. However, one flight attendant has urged travellers to think carefully before baring their legs, revealing one rather unpleasant reason she would never wear shorts on a plane.

Taking to social media to share her advice, the cabin crew member explained that aircraft seats aren’t always as spotless as passengers might hope – despite being cleaned between flights. She said: “Since everyone gets fuming mad at me when I say, don’t wear shorts when you travel… coming from a flight attendant.”

The crew member then revealed exactly what she had witnessed during just a single shift.

She added: “Guess how many diapers got changed on the seats yesterday on my one flight. Guess how many? Four.

“Guess how many announcements we made for people not to do that? Three. People don’t care.”

According to the flight attendant, every single nappy she witnessed being changed that day was soiled.

She added: “Guess how many of those diapers were poopy? All four. They change them on the seat.

“And you wanna rub your skin on there. You do. You’re dying to enjoy your staph infection. Just don’t say I didn’t warn you.”

Her remarks swiftly ignited fierce debate online, with scores of travellers admitting they had never stopped to consider what might have taken place on their seat before they boarded.

Reacting to the clip, one viewer wrote: “I will never wear shorts and I will never wear flared pants… that’s not water on the bathroom floor.

“My lululemon yoga pants aren’t going to soak up that floor juice! Black leggings only – year round!”.

Another user added: “And the real issue is all airlines not having a proper place for parents to change their baby!”

A third commented: “I’ve had people change them on the tray table and acted shocked when I told them to not do that and gave them wipes to clean it up.”

While a further user added: “I never thought of wearing shorts. But I’ll definitely wipe my seat with Lysol now.”
