The coffee machine is great for a quick drink fix.

Buying coffee out has become very expensive, but sometimes instant coffee just can’t compete.
It may not be a household essential, but a coffee machine is nice little luxury to own, especially for those slow weekend mornings when you have time to sip at a frothy coffee.
With black and silver details, it’s a super-sleek design, and very simple to use too.
To make your coffee, you just have to pop a pod into the top, and then choose from two buttons – lungo for a longer, weaker drink or espresso for a more intense shot that you can drink straight away.
Seven coffee pods are included so you can get brewing straight away, but it also uses the size of coffee pods that are very readily available at supermarkets, so when you need a top-up you can get cheaper own brand versions too.
If you’ve got a thermal flask, you can easily take a coffee out and about with you, especially if you’re hoping the investment will save you money buying takeaway drinks.
The coffee machine has made its way into Amazon’s bestsellers list, so it’s proving popular online.
Shoppers are leaving their feedback on the Nespresso device, with one saying: ‘’Such a game-changer for morning coffees.
‘’Couldn’t live without it after I’d experienced having this.
‘’Easy to use, easy to clean, small and compact but still stylish on the kitchen side.’’
Another shopper commented: ‘’Great coffee machine!
‘’Love the style and colour, also fits cheaper brand coffee pods such as the Amazon range and Lidl.
‘’Makes lovely coffee, I’m so glad I invested in this machine!‘’
A third shopper added: ‘’A replacement for our old coffee machine which went well.
‘’We’re very pleased with it so far as it’s not too big and sits on our worktop nicely, plus it makes lovely coffee.’’

A MAJOR UK supermarket has slashed the price of all its Christmas chocolate tubs – and you don’t need a loyalty card to get the bargain.
With just under 100 days to go until Christmas, shoppers are being urged to stock up early and save money on their festive favourites.

A tub of Quality Street or Celebrations now costs £4.42,
Asda, today cut the price on its tubs of Celebrations, Quality Street, Cadbury Heroes and Cadbury Roses – making them the cheapest on the market without signing up for any scheme.
A tub of Quality Street or Celebrations now costs £4.42, while Cadbury Heroes and Roses are just £4.92 each.
The supermarket said it wanted to give customers the best value possible ahead of the busy festive period, with no need to scan a card or download an app at the checkout.
The deals come as Asda recently unveiled its full Christmas food range for 2025.
It includes Hot Maple Pigs in Blankets, a Pigs in Duvet Wreath, a Festive Fondue Kit, Slow Cured Rack of Pork with Truffle Butter and Parmesan Crumb and a Pistachio & Milk Chocolate Flavour Cream Liqueur.
Retail experts say the price cuts could spark a supermarket price war as competitors look to match Asda’s prices in the run-up to December.
It follows a strong year for Asda, which was named one of the UK’s cheapest supermarkets by Which? earlier this month.
In August, a larger trolley shop of 190 items cost £474.86 at Asda – £11.03 cheaper than Tesco with a Clubcard.
Christmas chocolate price wars
Sweets under the tree are a big part of Christmas for British households.
Supermarkets often offer flash promotions giving shoppers a chance to get their festive favourites at a discounted price.
We all love a bit of chocolate from now and then, but you don’t have to break the bank buying your favourite bar.
Consumer reporter Sam Walker reveals how to cut costs…
Go own brand – if you’re not too fussed about flavour and just want to supplant your chocolate cravings, you’ll save by going for the supermarket’s own brand bars.
Shop around – if you’ve spotted your favourite variety at the supermarket, make sure you check if it’s cheaper elsewhere.
Websites like Trolley.co.uk let you compare prices on products across all the major chains to see if you’re getting the best deal.
Look out for yellow stickers – supermarket staff put yellow, and sometimes orange and red, stickers on to products to show they’ve been reduced.
They usually do this if the product is coming to the end of its best-before date or the packaging is slightly damaged.
Buy bigger bars – most of the time, but not always, chocolate is cheaper per 100g the larger the bar.
So if you’ve got the appetite, and you were going to buy a hefty amount of chocolate anyway, you might as well go bigger.

Simon Scrimshaw, then 50, hid in the bushes outside Niessen’s home in March 2023 as she left for work in Hucknall, Nottinghamshire at 6.40am.
Rosie, who has a daughter with Scrimshaw, has now bravely released appalling doorbell camera footage showing the horror of what happened that morning.
Wearing a balaclava, Scrimshaw is shown appearing from his hiding spot before running up behind Rosie.
As she reached the end of her driveway, he grabbed her and pulled back her head before hacking at her neck with a Stanley blade while wrestling her to the ground.
She can be heard screaming “what are you doing?” and “stop, help me” as the attack unfolded.
Rosie bravely fought back against Scrimshaw who inflicted devastating injuries to her throat, face and hands as she tried to defend herself.
Her courageous dad, Roberto, heard Rosie’s screams and raced out, jumping on Scrimshaw in a desperate attempt to protect his daughter.
He was stabbed in the right thigh before Scrimshaw fled which later required 50 stitches in his leg.
A passer-by alerted the emergency services, and Rosie and her dad were rushed to Queens Medical Centre in Nottingham.
There, Rosie had a CT scan and surgeons glued and stitched her wounds with doctors saying she was “lucky to be alive”.

A neighbour called the police after witnessing the attack and Scrimshaw was later arrested.
Rosie met Scrimshaw in 2017 and they entered an on-off romantic relationship which ended in 2022 – the pair had a daughter during that time.
According to the Mail, they were due to appear at a family court two days after the attack as Rosie had applied for a court order to keep him away from her.
Rosie told the newspaper she was in “shock” and said she “could hear rustling” before Scrimshaw came at her with the blade.

She said that she protected her neck on “instinct” as she defended herself.
“Imagine if I did die or didn’t defend myself as I did,” she added.
“They said I was in a pool of blood. They didn’t know I was going to make it.”
Rosie had to leave her job since the attack and has struggled with both the physical and mental scars inflicted upon her by Scrimshaw.
She said he had “taken everything from me” and branded Scrimshaw a “monster”.
Scrimshaw was jailed for 28 years in January 2024 after being convicted of attempted murder and grievous bodily harm, with a further four on license.
He was also ordered not to contact Rosie and was given a lifetime restraining order.
Now, Rosie is speaking out to raise awareness of domestic violence.

“That’s why we’re cutting the prices of over 650 items, from fresh favourites to cupboard staples, so our customers can trust they’re getting real value every time they shop with us.
“These price cuts mean customers can spend less on the essentials and still enjoy the great quality Morrisons is known for.”
In addition to the price reductions, Morrisons has also launched a number of weekly deals.

As part of a cost-cutting overhaul, the grocer also shut more than 50 of its in-store cafés, 35 meat and fish counters, and 18 Market Kitchen food courts earlier this year.
It cited the need to cut costs amid rising financial pressure.
It is instead investing in tech, rolling out new “Tally” robots to help customers find items on the shelves and improve stock management.
However, the business has returned to profit for the first time since 2021, when the chain was bought by US private equity investor Clayton Dubilier & Rice (CD&R).
Morrisons posted a pre-tax profit of £2.1billion for the year ending October 27 2024, reversing losses of £919million in 2023 and £1.3billion in 2022, according to new filings on Companies House.
How to bag a bargain
SUN Savers Editor Lana Clements explains how to find a cut-price item and bag a bargain…
Sign up to loyalty schemes of the brands that you regularly shop with.
Big names regularly offer discounts or special lower prices for members, among other perks.
Sales are when you can pick up a real steal.
Retailers usually have periodic promotions that tie into payday at the end of the month or Bank Holiday weekends, so keep a lookout and shop when these deals are on.
Sign up to mailing lists and you’ll also be first to know of special offers. It can be worth following retailers on social media too.
When buying online, always do a search for money off codes or vouchers that you can use vouchercodes.co.uk and myvouchercodes.co.uk are just two sites that round up promotions by retailer.
Scanner apps are useful to have on your phone. Trolley.co.uk app has a scanner that you can use to compare prices on branded items when out shopping.
Bargain hunters can also use B&M’s scanner in the app to find discounts in-store before staff have marked them out.
And always check if you can get cashback before paying which in effect means you’ll get some of your money back or a discount on the item.
Los Angeles classical music station KUSC-FM (91.5) has laid off employees after Republicans cut federal funding from the Corp. for Public Broadcasting.
James A. Muhammad, president of Classical California, the entity that operates the nonprofit KUSC and its sister station, KDFC in San Francisco, confirmed the workforce reduction in a note sent Thursday to its listeners.
“Despite our best efforts, the fact is that Classical California has experienced a reduction of $1.1 million in support from the Corporation for Public Broadcasting,” Muhammad wrote. “This, along with other impacts, requires us to make difficult decisions across KUSC-FM and KDFC-FM.”
A representative for Classical California did not respond to questions on the number of employees cut. A person briefed on the move who was not authorized to comment publicly said it was eight positions, including two department managers, all based in Los Angeles.
None of the announcers at the two stations were included in the cuts.
Classical California is among the many public media outlets that are scrambling to fill the budget gaps caused by the decision by the Trump White House and the Republican Congress to claw back the $1.1 billion in federal money allocated to the Corp. for Public Broadcasting.
The nonprofit entity administered the funds for public radio and TV stations, mostly affiliates of NPR and PBS.
Conservatives and libertarians have long called for the end of public funds supporting media organizations, especially ones they view as politically left-leaning. Trump has called NPR and PBS government-funded “left-wing propaganda.”
The Corp. for Public Broadcasting was also a vital revenue source for cultural and fine arts programming that often struggles to sustain itself in the commercial media marketplace.
Both KUSC and KDFC, which are owned and operated by the University of Southern California, play classical music 24 hours a day and are not NPR affiliates. They are the most-listened-to classical radio stations in the U.S.
Muhammad’s note to listeners included a plea for contributions to make up for the shortfall caused by the cuts.
“We remain committed to continuing to be your home for classical music,” Muhammad said. “As a listener-supported station, we need your support of KUSC and KDFC, now more than ever.”
Granted, Jumper might not be a household name, which explains the handful of reviews.
