Everyone’s got at least one go-to programme they return to now and again. I’ve got several I rotate through, whether it’s The Thick Of It, I’m Alan Partridge or Star Trek, but there’s consistently one that stands head and shoulders above the rest and I’m not the only one who reckons it deserves a viewing.
Boasting a 95% approval score on Rotten Tomatoes, Frasier is the American sitcom that keeps proving its staying power and I’ve tuned in at least weekly (possibly more) for over ten years. I can recall when this brilliant piece of farcical comedy served as a late-morning slot-filler on Channel 4, and that’s where I initially encountered the endearing yet pretentious radio psychiatrist as he adjusts to fresh beginnings in Seattle.
Whilst Frasier originally launched in 1993, plenty of viewers already knew the main character from the Boston-set sitcom Cheers.
Spanning 11 series right through to 2004, Frasier, portrayed by Kelsey Grammer, remains remarkably relevant today, with numerous episodes revolving around the comic consequences of a straightforward misunderstanding that viewers are completely aware of.
It’s packed with brilliant one-liners, gags that mock the upper classes and a dash of slapstick chucked in for good measure.
It follows Frasier’s relocation from Boston to his swanky new flat in the fictional Elliot Bay Towers, and launches his fresh radio call-in programme at the neighbourhood KACL station alongside producer Roz, portrayed by Peri Gilpin.
Comedy gold unfolds when he welcomes his down-to-earth father Martin, portrayed by the late John Mahoney, Martin’s live-in physiotherapist Daphne, brought to life by Jane Leeves, and his scruffy terrier Eddie into his pristine apartment, reports the Express.
There’s no shortage of sharp-tongued sparring between Frasier and his equally pretentious sibling Niles, embodied by David Hyde Pierce, while sipping a steaming macchiato at their beloved Cafe Nervosa.
Both audiences and reviewers adore it, with each series packed with memorable episodes that become more hilarious with repeated watches.
Fans continue posting glowing testimonials more than two decades since it wrapped, cementing this legendary sitcom’s devoted following.
One viewer raved: “Just a fantastic series. Great writing. Brilliant acting. As much as I enjoy Kelsey Grammar in this series… David Hyde Pierce really does steal the show.”
Another declared: “This is a go-to classic for intellectual humour while building upon continuing story arcs and having solid standalone episodes. Frasier is one of the best TV series ever made.”
A third enthused: “Definitely one of the greatest sitcoms of all time, watching it over again.”
There’s been a Frasier revival, though this features a fresh ensemble aside from Kelsey Grammer, and has received divided opinions.
Both the classic and revived Frasier are available on Paramount Plus, whilst the original run can be streamed on Channel 4. Individual series and episodes can be purchased through Amazon Prime.
As it ended, a picture of Jonathan Clough was displayed on screen, along with the words: “In memory of Jonathan Clough” and the dates 1989 to 2025.
The producer had been diagnosed with a Grade 4 Glioblastoma in 2024, at the age of 35.
A fundraising campaign had been established to support Jonathan, whose TV also credits included Strictly Come Dancing and The Apprentice, in accessing specialist treatment. Actor Sam Swainsbury established the GoFundMe campaign following an appeal launched by the family.
The producer and his partner, Tracy Martin, both had to leave their careers and relocate with their two young children from London to Wigan to stay with her parents following his diagnosis.
Writing on the GoFundMe page, Tracy explained how their lives had changed after Jonathan suddenly collapsed due to a seizure in March 2024.
She wrote: “Two months after that, the results of an MRI brought our world crashing down. Our brilliant Jonathan, at only 35 years old, was diagnosed with a Grade 4 Glioblastoma — an extremely aggressive and incurable brain cancer.”
Jonathan underwent surgery, chemotherapy and radiotherapy, but subsequent scans disclosed a regrowth that doctors deemed inoperable.
In January, Sam posted a message on Instagram saying that Jonathan had died on Boxing Day.
“He saw his daughter’s first day at school,” he said. “He then made it to her first play. He then made it to Christmas. He then sadly passed on Boxing Day. He fought for every last second. He exceeded all expectations. He was extraordinary.”
“I don’t have many more words than that,” he said. “I still can’t believe it.”
Former Strictly pro Kevin Clifton was among those to pay tribute to Jonathan, who was a producer on the BBC ballroom show from 2017 to 2019.
Sharing photos of Jonathan on social media, he wrote: “An amazing friend, an amazing man, an amazing father and a heck of a fighter for his amazing family. I will miss you forever [heartbroken emoji].”

Your annual TV Licence payment generally covers four key factors related to watching, recording, and downloading content

The price of a TV Licence rose for many in 2025, with the Government increasing the price to £174.50 last April. This annual payment is generally mandatory for any households or businesses that watch live TV or access BBCiPlayer.
However, you may be wondering what rules apply to people who exclusively watch DVDs or play games on their TV. Guidance on this matter is summarised on the official TV Licensing website, along with the answers to other frequently asked questions.
“You don’t need a TV Licence if you only use your TV for gaming or DVDs,” the website explains. “That’s as long as you never watch TV channels on any TV service, watch live TV on streaming services, or use BBC iPlayer.”
Two years ago, the Secretary of State announced a 2.9% increase in the licence fee, starting from April 1, 2025, in line with the annual CPI inflation. This resulted in a daily rise of just over 1p, and is only the second fee increase since April 1, 2021.
While standard coloured licences now cost £174.50 annually, black-and-white licences cost £58.50 per year. Future licence fee increases will be tied to CPI inflation over the next four years, ending in 2027. From April 2026, the fee will increase again by £5.50 to £180.
Official TV licensing guidance adds: “You could be prosecuted if we find that you have been watching, recording or downloading programmes illegally. The maximum penalty is a £1,000 fine plus any legal costs and/or compensation you may be ordered to pay.”
Certain people are eligible for discounted TV Licences, provided they meet specific criteria. Older adults claiming Pension Credit may also qualify for a completely free TV Licence if they are over 75 and/or living with a partner who receives the benefit.
Pension Credit is different to the State Pension. Pension Credit is a means-tested benefit for people over State Pension age on a low income, boosting weekly income to £227.10 if you’re single or £346.60 with a partner.
Those claiming Pension Credit can apply for a free TV Licence when they turn 74, but will still need to pay until the end of the month before their 75th birthday. After this point, they will be covered by the free licence.

It’s another big week for the soaps, with a huge return, secrets under threat and sinister plans in motion.
On Emmerdale, Aaron Dingle is concerned for Robert Sugden, while a discovery about the latter leaves someone stunned. Soon there’s an ultimatum, while some news about dead villain John Sugden sparks some guilt.
On Coronation Street, Daniel Osbourne makes a chilling discovery, while groomer Megan targets teen Sam Blakeman. David Platt is onto “strange” Jodie’s behaviour too.
As for EastEnders, there’s an epic return for Jake Moon, which could lead to another comeback. There’s concern for one teen, and Ravi Gulati is rocked by a discovery.
Over on Hollyoaks, Mercedes McQueen gets steamy with a newcomer, while Dodger Savage makes an alarming realisation. As for Home and Away, Leah continues to spark concern. Here’s all your new spoilers…
Dylan confesses to April that he was there when Ray was murdered and that Bear is his killer. Paddy is furious, and Bear begins to spiral. As April encourages Bear to open up he breaks down, with Paddy deciding he needs to see a counsellor.
As April, Dylan and Bear struggle to cope, it’s clear the impact of Ray’s actions is hard to overcome. Elsewhere, Victoria is horrified when she realises how far Robert has gone to protect her.
When John’s death is ruled a suicide she continues to feel guilty, and she considers coming clean to Cain about the plan to sell the farm to Joe. With Joe wanting to push the sale forward he threatens Robert, but Victoria overhears and realises Robert planted the evidence that led to Moira’s arrest.
Realising why he did it, she declares she’ll turn herself in to prevent Moira from being wrongfully imprisoned. Joe then threatens to release the video of her killing John unless she signs the contracts.
Soon there’s an ultimatum, and Victoria visits Moira in prison. Also next week, Aaron is concerned for Robert and Cain tries to force Bear to go to the police.
When he turns violent, Dylan steps in. Later, Sarah supports Cain at his appointment at the hospital where the consultant explains the treatment will be a radical prostatectomy.
Finally next week, Robert and Tracy are caught out as they head off with John’s ashes. Tracy prepares to pour John’s ashes down the toilet, convincing a reluctant Robert to let her just as Victoria and Aaron arrive.
Coronation Street
Shona, convinced Jodie is hiding something, follows her to a psychiatric hospital where Jodie tearfully introduces their confused, estranged father. Jodie explains how she was left to care for him after their mother fled.
When an exhausted Shona snaps at Lily, David tells her to take a break. Jodie soon manipulates her into a night out, before plying her sister with alcohol. David confides in Nick that there’s something very strange about Jodie.
Ryan recognises Mal, leading to Bernie begging him not to reveal all about the hotel incident. When Gemma finds out, she urges her mum to tell Dev before someone else does. Mal seems keen to stick around.
Todd panics when he sees some missed calls from Theo. When he joins James for brunch, Theo comments on him wasting money, before confronting him over a takeaway bag he’s found. Things take a turn when Todd collapses.
Debbie’s assigned an inmate to look after her in prison, but she’s not best pleased to discover it’s her former neighbour Lou. Later, Adam tells Carl that he hopes to use Debbie’s TIA to have her sentence reduced.
Sam finds out his essay was missing, and he realises Megan was behind it. Soon, he intently listens as Daniel discusses the misuse of ADHD medication for a study aid. Later in the week, Megan approaches Sam and tells him she’s concerned about his work and offers him extra help.
As for Daniel, he’s shocked when he meets the man, Colin, jailed for his attack only to realise he wasn’t his attacker after all. Ollie asks Lauren on a date, while Carla enlists Betsy’s help and asks her to get Lisa to come to the Chariot Square Hotel as she’s planning to surprise her. Finally, a clash between Ryan and Carl sees Ryan sacking him, and Carl, in a fit of rage, forms a sinister plan to set the hotel on fire.
EastEnders
Ravi meets Jack to give an update on his informant work, only to discover his new contact is Mark. But he’s in turmoil when Nugget suffers a seizure. Nugget is rushed to hospital where tests suggest he’s had an epileptic seizure.
Later, Mark is impressed by Ravi and he soon drops an admission, while there’s news from the hospital and Priya makes a discovery. Zoe comes face-to-face with Jake Moon, who has requested a prison visit. He explains that he and Chrissie have split over her revenge plan and begs for the truth about what happened at Christmas.
Kat encourages Jake to visit Alfie, with him believed dead for so many years. It leads to an emotional reunion. Soon Jake seeks out Phil, and he encourages Jake to lure Chrissie back to Walford. Callum is worried about Phil, while Billy asks Honey to beg for her job back, but Bea insists she should stand firm.
Soon Suki fires them both, while Bea lies to Vinny. Linda is worried that Ollie is being bullied again. Max offers to take Ollie and Annie to help Linda out and soon realises that Louie is the bully targeting Ollie.
As things escalate Max keeps it from Linda, only for the pair to grow closer. Linda moves in for a kiss, but will they reunite?
Hollyoaks
Sensing Rex is struggling with grief, Froggy plans to scatter Grace’s ashes with him. Before they set off, Ste proposes to Rex. Mercedes has chemistry with fellow rehab patient Jake, unaware it’s Jenson.
Meanwhile, Nikki advises Mercedes to work on her relationship with Warren. Prince apologises to John Paul for dragging him into a situation, but soon the pair are left panicking. Diane isn’t happy when Ro tells his family he’s decided he wants to be a mechanic.
Later, Ro arrives at the garage ready to start his new job, but Diane tells Ro that he has to go to university and that’s that. Gemma still has a soft spot for Warren, and Mercedes invites Warren to couples therapy, while she’s soon getting steamy with someone else.
Dodger is alarmed to find out who was behind the armed robbery. Elsewhere, Vicky comes up with an idea to buy the salon. When newcomer Miles finds Vicky and gives her his card, claiming he’s a talent scout, she’s unsure. At the Blakes, a guilty Tinhead has a confession to make to smitten Liberty.
Home and Away
Sonny tries to make sense of Leah’s accusation about Justin, and soon Remi is thrown. He lets Justin know what Leah’s been saying, and it’s clear is relationship with Leah is in real trouble.
Jo awkwardly admits she has plans, before walking off with Eddie, leaving Tane feeling discarded. Cash takes it upon himself to quiz David on Jo and Eddie, before he reveals all to Tane.
Lacey teases her sister Jo after a discovery, but soon she has questions. Soon, Jo debriefs with Lacey about the two men in her life, leading to some words of encouragement from Lacey. It’s Tane who’s left making a decision however. Also next week, Tane’s shocked and angered when he opens a letter from Harper’s solicitor outlining custody arrangements.

Television fans searching for their next gripping watch have been encouraged to discover a conspiracy thriller series being praised as a “masterpiece”. Utopia, penned by Dennis Kelly and featuring Fiona O’Shaughnessy, Adeel Akhtar, Paul Higgins and Nathan Stewart-Jarrett, debuted on Channel 4 in 2013, with its second series arriving the following year.
The sci-fi drama centres on a group of graphic novel enthusiasts who become convinced that a comic book, The Utopia Experiments, foretold various catastrophic epidemics and significant global events including mad cow disease. They embark on a quest to locate a rumoured unpublished follow-up that might contain warnings about future mysteries waiting to unfold.
After one member of the group gets hold of a manuscript, he arranges to meet fellow online forum members in person, only to be murdered shortly afterwards. The remaining four manage to meet up and obtain the manuscript, but quickly find themselves entangled in a dangerous maze of deception as a shadowy organisation known as The Network pursues it relentlessly.
Operatives from The Network will stop at nothing to secure the manuscript, eliminating anyone who stands between them and their target as they search for both the document and an individual called Jessica Hyde (portrayed by Fiona). It later emerges that Jessica’s father authored the Utopia manuscripts, and she’s spent her entire existence evading The Network’s clutches.
As the group becomes entangled in The Network’s web, their lives unravel and the organisation’s true intentions emerge. Concurrently, they grapple with understanding the unfolding situation amidst a backdrop of terrifying global events, including whispers of a “Russian flu”, which has since drawn parallels to the Covid-19 pandemic, reports the Express. However, Kelly has firmly dismissed any connections, maintaining that his work is purely fictional.
Thirteen years after its initial release, viewers are rekindling their interest in Utopia. One Reddit user seeking recommendations for British thrillers wrote: “Hello there! I’m looking for some good British thrillers to watch. I really enjoyed The Day of the Jackal, The Capture, and Steal. Anything in that vibe would be great.” A fellow user promptly suggested: “If you like a bit of a conspiracy I recommend Utopia. In my view a underrated cinematic masterpiece.”
On Rotten Tomatoes, Utopia boasts an impressive 100% rating. One reviewer described it as a “Dark, creepy, disturbing, entertaining show. This is 2013 show, but looking through events current pandemic 2020 year, it may make you feel uncomfortable.”
Another hailed it as “the best show ever made” praising it as “thrilling, suspenseful, unsettling, tense.”
Another hailed it as “the best TV show you’ve probably never heard of,” gushing: “Utopia is a masterpiece! Not only is this one of the most intense and twisted shows I’ve ever seen, it’s also absolutely beautiful! The cinematography alone left me in awe and don’t even get me started on the soundtrack! This is not your typical TV show. In fact it’s a whole lot more than just a TV show. It’s an artwork that is being unfolded in front of your very eyes.”
One devotee described it as “devastatingly sublime,” claiming the series will “ravage your senses”. Others labelled it “a hidden and forgotten gem” and “mindblowing”.
A particularly passionate viewer declared: “This is my absolute favourite show ever. Everything is done to absolute perfection. Criminally underrated and such a shame they cancelled it.”
Viewers were left heartbroken when Channel 4 pulled the plug on Utopia in 2014. A network spokesperson reflected at the time: “Utopia is truly channel-defining: strikingly original, powered by Dennis Kelly’s extraordinary voice and brought to life in all its technicolor glory through Marc Munden’s undeniable creative flair and vision, the team at Kudos delivered a series which has achieved fervent cult status over two brilliantly warped and nail-biting series.
“It also has the honour of ensuring audiences will never look at a spoon in the same way again. It’s always painful to say goodbye to shows we love, but it’s a necessary part of being able to commission new drama, a raft of which are launching on the channel throughout 2015.”

During one alarming moment Jackson even admitted that if he could not be close to children he would take his own life, according to the New York Post.
“If you told me right now . . . Michael, you could never see another child…I would kill myself,” he reportedly said.
“Children want to just touch me and hug me.
“Kids end up falling in love with my personality. Sometimes it gets me into trouble.”
Set to premiere on February 4, the docuseries details new revelations from the pop icon’s 2005 child molestation trial.
Shedding new light on Jackson’s relationship with child cancer survivor Gavin Arvizo, who later accused him of sexual abuse, unseen footage shows their pair going on picnics alone together.
Gavin accused him of sexual molestation in 2005, saying Jackson showed him pornography and gave him alcohol.
The star – who admitted to sharing his bed with kids – was cleared of all 14 charges, including four counts of molesting a child, four counts of getting a child drunk so that he could molest him, and of secretly conspiring to hold the boy and his family captive at his California ranch, Neverland.
He was also charged with supplying alcohol to the boy, now 15.
The New York Post spoke to an insider who had heard the recordings.
“There is something extremely unusual and eerie about Michael Jackson’s infatuation with children – especially those who are not his own,” they said.
“To hear his voice discuss children in this manner, given he had been accused on molestation, raises many questions about his mental health, mindset and sadly, intentions.
“This is Michael at his most open giving us an insight into how he was in love with children . . . infatuated with wanting to be around them,” they added.
Continuing on, the insider said Jackson saw “nothing wrong with bringing kids to his home and his bed without parental supervision”.
“[He justified] those actions by saying he is a just a friend looking to help,” they said.

“He even went further — expressing how most of the spoiled children fell in love with him.
“These are very uneasy phrases and language to hear from a single man in his 40s.”
The insider said the footage also showed how Jackson cared for Gavin throughout his cancer battle.
“Many doctors felt that his diagnosis was terminal, but Michael never gave up hope,” they said.
“Michael described how he told Gavin he looked like an angel to him. The way that these could have been interpreted are fascinating.”
Executive producer Tom Anstiss said: “The unheard audio tapes of Michael Jackson offer a rare and privileged window into Michael’s psyche and his soul”.
He said The Trial would “deliver a new understanding of who Michael Jackson really was, what he thought and the seismic moments that shaped his life”.
“The tapes are emotionally raw and very real,” he said.
“At points, you can hear Michael is close to tears.”
Jackson’s former public relations advisor appears in the show, revealing that he “absolutely” believed the allegations against the popstar, according to the Telegraph.
“I believe there was a cover-up for so many years,” he said.
Jackson’s estate still vehemently denies all child molestation accusations against him.
He had three children of his own, Prince, Bigi (formerly Blanket) and Paris.
The trio have described him as “the best father you could ever imagine”, according to People.
Jackson died of an overdose on a prescription anaesthetic four years after the trial concluded.

While it’s barely late January and summer appears distant, numerous Brits are seizing the chance to organise their getaways, as rates tend to be more affordable during this period.
With that in mind, travel guru and Channel 4‘s A Place in the Sun presenter Jasmine Harman has revealed a savvy money-saving tip for holidaymakers to consider.
Chatting to The Sun’s TV Mag, the telly favourite disclosed that selecting a particular device for booking could massively enhance the bargains available.
She revealed: “The device you book flights on also has an effect on the prices you can get. If you’re using a laptop compared to a phone, you’ll get a different price.
“It’s so much easier to do it on your laptop, but you’ll get a better price on your phone! I think a lot of people will be impressed by the destination dupes too – where if you want one type of holiday but don’t have the budget, there are alternative places to try.”
Jasmine’s guidance might catch some off guard, however, last year, a Which? travel specialist also clarified why opting for the compact gadget in your pocket beats the larger one sat on your desk.
Speaking on Which?‘s official TikTok page, the expert said: “I would never book a hotel on a computer without checking the price on my mobile phone first.
“We slashed £270 off the price of an apartment in Amsterdam on Booking.com, and we saved almost £100 on a weekend in Florence with Expedia, just by booking a mobile exclusive.”
Additionally, the travel expert advised against booking flights through online travel agents without first comparing prices directly with the airline.
She stated: “Although online travel agents appear to be cheaper, they tend to whack up the prices of extras, such as bags and seats. If you need those, it might be cheaper just to go with the airline directly.”
However, whilst booking holidays via mobile phone might seem convenient, Which? has warned this approach could catch people out.
On Which?’s website, senior researcher and writer Trevor Baker cautioned: “However, beware when trying to book other kinds of travel by phone, such as flights and some cottage stays – as you could be hit with an unexpected fee of up to £50. It’s a charge that’s likely to particularly affect people who are less able to book online, such as blind or older travellers.
“If there is a fee for booking by phone, then always ask the call handler if that can be removed. In the case of a disabled person who’s not able to book online, we think removing the fee should be a legal obligation.”

Channel 4 bosses have cast the 54-year-old actress with the intention to include her in a forthcoming storyline.
It’s been revealed Glenda is playing a new character named Dr Pearce, though it’s currently unclear how long the soap star will remain on the show for.
The soap star’s exciting new casting was confirmed in a post shared by the talent agency Red Door Management.
They said in a post on social media: “Tune into Hollyoaks at 7pm this evening on E4 to catch Red Door’s Glenda McKay as Dr Pearce.”
Glenda’s Hollyoaks role comes just months after she appeared in a guest stint on rival soap Coronation Street.
On the cobbles, Glenda played a social worker named Alison Hale who was dealing with street couple Tim and Sally Metcalfe as they fought to foster the Michealis’ children following their mum Lou’s imprisonment.
The actress left Emmerdale over 25 years ago when she was killed off in a memorable storyline which saw her brutally pushed off a cliff.

Glenda’s final storyline saw her enter a toxic relationship with teacher Graham Clark. He coerced her into dressing differently and forced her to dye her hair in an attempt to mould her into his dead wife.
Twisted Graham then attempted to force himself on her as she tried to break up with him.
He later chased Rachel and cornered her on a clifftop, she confronted him, and Graham ultimately pushed her to her death.
The evil teacher then lead Rachel’s friends and fellow villagers to believe that she was missing.
Since leaving Emmerdale in 1999, Glenda has only landed a handful of TV roles including guest stints on Hollyoaks and Doctors.
In 2005, Glenda appeared in Coronation Street for one episode as a love interest of cabbie Lloyd Mulaney (Craig Charles).
But in recent years, the former soap star made a startling career change as she ditched acting to work as a primary school teacher.

An explosive Beckham documentary will air tomorrow night, as more details are revealed about their feud. Channel 4 have announced a new documentary about the family feud following Brooklyn Beckham‘s bombshell statement.
In a message shared on social media, Brooklyn insisted he was not being controlled and was finally “standing up for himself”. He also accused his family of trying to ruin his relationship with Nicola Peltz.
“I have been silent for years and made every effort to keep these matters private. Unfortunately my parents and their team have continued to go to the press, leaving me with no choice but to speak for myself and tell the truth about only some of the lies that have been printed,” he shared on social media.
“I do not want to reconcile with my family. I’m not being controlled, I’m standing up for myself for the first time in my life. For my entire life, my parents have controlled narratives in the press about our family. The performative social media posts, family events and inauthentic relationships have been a fixture of the life I was born into.”
A new Channel 4 documentary will now air where the details about their strained relationship and the widespread attention the feud received will be examined. The Beckhams have remained together and united since the shock allegations, as experts in PR, showbiz personalities and psychologists discuss why the Beckhams are such a hot topic of conversation.
“I’m so honoured to be named a Chevalière de l’Ordre des Arts et des Lettres by the French Ministry of Culture. I have always deeply admired the French aesthetic and the seriousness with which it treats fashion: as a form of art,” she shared.

Celebrity SAS: Who Dares Wins ended with a bang, as it celebrated an all-female line up of winners for the second time in the show’s history. Dani Dyer, Gabby Allen and Emily Seebohm all passed the “horrendous” course, while finalists Ben Cohen and Mack Horton stood down.
Airing on 26 January, the final of eight episodes of Celebrity SAS saw the five finalists face one last test. Over the previous episodes, Chief Instructor Billy Billingham and his Directing Staff, Jason Fox, Rudy Reyes and Chris Oliver, put fourteen recruits from the UK and Australia through a condensed selection course designed that stripped them of sleep and tested their strength.
Some chose to withdraw and others were culled from the process, but Dani, Gabby, Emily, Ben and Mack all made it to the final test – interrogation. During the test, both Ben and Mack chose to quit, making the women the winners.
Chief Instructor Billy delivered the final verdict: “Eight days ago you came from both sides of the world. Fourteen arrived. Three stand before us. Just because you stand on the finish line doesn’t mean you’ve passed this course.” Not leaving the three in suspense, he then added: “It’s a rare moment to say — congratulations to all three of you. You’ve passed this course.”
Looking back on the achievement, Dani said it was “horrendous”. She said: “Every single moment was horrendous. But to hear that I’d passed — it’s the best feeling in the world. If I can do this, I can do anything.”
She added: “I definitely am a lot stronger than what I think I am…I can’t believe I’ve actually been able to do it. I’m really proud of myself.” When she realised all the winning recruits were women Dani continued: “I love it because we are strong women. We go through so much as women, mentally and physically.
“That final day with the interrogations and the noises, the animals in our ears, the pig noises, the scratching, it was awful. I thought I’d messed up. I thought I grassed everyone up. That was in my head. But we are strong women. We really are.”
Olympic swimmer Emily said she wasn’t surprised that three women won. ““I wasn’t surprised it was the three women, but I was surprised the two guys (Ben and Mack) didn’t make it because they were so strong. I was always trying to keep up with them during tasks, so to not see them at the end was shocking.”
Gabby said she thought they three of them were “boss b***hes” for getting through the ordeal. ““I can’t believe that out of fourteen people, it’s us. Well, I can — because we’re boss b***hes. Standing there with two women at the end meant everything to me. My whole brand is about empowering women from every walk of life. Men are strong, but women show time and time again that we can do just as much. We were lifting the same weights, trying just as hard. I wouldn’t have wanted to be there at the end with anyone else. We built a bond you could never replicate.”
Gabby and Dani both rose to fame on dating show Love Island, with Dani winning series four, and Gabby taking the crown in All Stars two. “The whole cast surprised me in different ways but Dani surprised me,” Gabby said.
“I felt protective of her, but she held her own and never gave up. Standing next to her at the end was incredible. Two girls from Love Island showing everyone what we can do.”
