Greg Davies ‘ready for a wife’ as he makes heartbreaking plea

Greg Davies has been called up to host the BAFTA TV Awards for the first time1

Greg Davies is back on our screens tonight as he hosts the BAFTA TV Awards for the very first time.

The 57-year old, known for co-hosting the hit comedy gameshow Taskmaster, follows in the footsteps of Graham Norton, Lenny Henry and Michael Parkinson in his MC role and said it was an opportunity he could not turn down.

“I used to watch Stephen Fry at the Baftas and marvel at his cool, intellectual charm. I won’t be bringing that,” laughed Greg ahead of the show.

The 6ft 8in funnyman shot to fame after starring as headteacher Mr Gilbert in The Inbetweeners and has since become a regular fixture on our screens, thanks to his TV roles in The Cleaner, Brassic, Cuckoo and Man Down.

Speaking as a guest at the BAFTAs last year, Greg gave a rare update on his personal life as he said he was ‘ready for a wife’.

The Taskmaster star and his co-host Alex Horne were nominated in the Entertainment category for their Channel 4 programme alongside The 1% Club, Michael McIntyre’s Big Show and Would I Lie to You?

Speaking on the red carpet, Alex said: “We’re an unlikely couple,” with Greg piping up: “That’s why we’re a good team.”

Alex then added: “And I would like to thank my wife for getting us here tonight,” before Greg joked: “I don’t have a wife so maybe I can thank Alex’s wife.”

Tom insisted he could meet his wife at the star-studded event, with Greg responding: “Maybe I will, I’m open to it. It would be so lovely, it’s been too long and I’m ready now.”

Alex simply quipped: “Lonely”,” as Greg added: “Oh god, the horrible hot lonely tears.”

The Cleaner star was in a relationship with Labour Party politician Liz Kendall between 2007 and 2015, but usually keeps his love life under wraps.

Liz told previously The Mirror about their romance: “I am not going to be the sort of politician who does all that stuff about their private life because it’s very precious to me and really important to me that I have that space that’s personal and just to me. We are not together any more but we remain really good friends.”

In the past Greg has made jokes about his disastrous single life and previously said he ‘gave up’ on romance while on The Graham Norton Show.

Greg said his grandfather once caught him in an embrace with his first girlfriend and the experience left him mortified. “It’s not for me, romance… that was the day I gave up on romance,” he explained. However, Greg counts one ex-girlfriend of changing the course of his life. His former partner, who he has not named, convinced him to switch from his teaching career to one in comedy. Speaking to The Times, he said: “I’ve been doing comedy for about 15 years now. I always wanted to do it, I just never had thick enough skin.

“A girlfriend I had while teaching was a pragmatist and always told me that if you want to do something, then go for it. So eventually I made the switch. Comedy is definitely where I’m happiest.”

During an interview with OK! magazine, Greg admitted that he had quite the crush on former Blue Peter star Janet Ellis, who also happens to be the mother of popstar Sophie Ellie Bextor.

Mortified Greg recalled: “I met Janet Ellis once in a fish and chip shop. I used to have a terrible crush on her, all throughout my childhood. Then I finally met her and said something humiliating, I think chips-based, that guaranteed I would never end up in the relationship I craved.” He added: “I met her daughter Sophie on a show once and told her I fancied her mum and she rolled her eyes and said ‘everyone does’.”

While he was known for playing doting dad Ken in the sitcom Cuckoo, the actor himself does not have any children. He does, however, have lots of experience looking after kids as he was a secondary school drama and English teacher for 13 years before moving into comedy.

That’s not Greg’s only transformation. In recent years the funnyman has admitted to using Ozempic to lose weight after receiving concerning health news from his doctor.

The host claimed to have lost three stone – and named the diabetic medication in an interview. Ozempic is not designed as a weight loss drug and is used instead as a treatment for type 2 diabetes in adults – however, many patients have experienced weight loss as a side effect.

He told The Times: “[I] lost three stone on the old Ozempic, in about four months, before putting most of it back on.” The interview also notes that his doctor warned him that if he was shorter, he would “look obese” – and that he is now considering turning to fasting in an attempt to maintain his weight.

Noting that he is not concerned about ageing, he added: “I think that’s probably good in my game, isn’t it?”

Who is Risdon Roberts? Virgin Island star’s life including acting past

The Channel 4 show’s newest surrogate partner therapist may look familiar to some viewers

Risdon Roberts it the newest addition to Virgin Island’s therapy team, but some fans may recognise her.

She is appearing on the Channel 4 show as a surrogate partner therapist, a professional who can offer two-way touch with the cast and even engage in full sex if deemed appropriate. She is the third so-called ‘sex surrogate’ on the show alongside Kat Slade, 35, and Andre Lazarus, 42.

In tonight’s episode (May 4) fans will get a glimpse at Risdon’s work with 25-year-old accountant Tegan, with the pair trying out directed gazing. This involves staring at different parts of the body in a bid to stir up feelings of desire.

As Risdon gets more screen time, fans may be curious about the star’s background and her path to appearing on the Channel 4 reality series. Here’s everything to know.

How old is Risdon Roberts?

Risdon is 42 years old and was born in Japan. She is same age as fellow surrogate partner therapist, Andre, who she already knew before the show.

She is usually based in Los Angeles where she works as a surrogate partner therapist and an intimacy expert, also advising for events, film and TV. Her specialism is working with people new to intimacy, experiencing sexual dysfunction or who are coming out later in life. She herself identifies as a queer woman.

Explaining she she signed up for Season 2, she shared: “I was very impressed with Kat [Slade] on the show and how the show supported her when the work with one of her clients shifted, as that is something that comes up a lot in Surrogate Partner Therapy.

“Seeing Kat’s incredible work on the first season really inspired me to want to participate. Andre and I have been friends and colleagues for years as well, so his positive experience during the first season was a major reason why I signed on.”

She added: “As a queer woman I also appreciated how there was so much room on the show for the cast to explore their divergent identities, attractions, and sexualities. I also really enjoyed the sex education elements of the show because those are some of my favourite parts of the work.”

Why does Risdon Roberts look familiar?

If fans recognise Risdon already, it’s likely due to her background in acting. She started her career in film and TV and trained as an intimacy coordinator before switching to her current career path.

Her first big acting role was in the online web series, Bite Me, in which she starred as a character called Lauren. The show centred around three gamers who try and survive a zombie outbreak using their gaming skills.

According to her IMDB page, her most recent TV work outside of Virgin Island is a 2017 TV mini series titled This Place Is Weird where she is credited as ‘Risdon’ as well as an appearance as ‘Lulu’ in 2023 comedy short, Surprise!

Virgin Island airs Monday and Tuesday nights at 9pm on Channel 4.

Bake Off host lets slip Nigella Lawson and Paul Hollywood ‘chemistry’ as filming begins

The Great British Bake Off host Alison Hammond appeared on ITV’s Lorraine on Monday

A Great British Bake Off star has opened up about Nigella Lawson’s chemistry with Paul Hollywood.

Nigella has taken over from Prue Leith as the latest judge, where she will join Paul, Alison Hammond and Noel Fielding in the tent for the upcoming season that’s set to air later this year.

Alison appeared on ITV’s Lorraine on Monday (May 4), where she spoke to Lorraine Kelly about the new series, which has begun filming.

Lorraine said: “There’s a new judge. How’s that all going? Have you met up?”

Alison replied: “She’s so lovely. Nigella is incredible. Obviously we’ve started, so I’ve been watching.”

She added: “I’m telling you, the chemistry between her and Paul is unbelievable,” before clarifying: “Not in that sort of way!”

A picture of Paul and Nigella was then shown on screen, with Alison saying: “Don’t they look good looking?”

Lorraine jokingly added: “Do you know what, that looks like a crime scene, doesn’t it?!”

Alison continued: “But honestly, they’re so good together! I’ll be honest with you, they don’t always agree – it’s so good,” with Lorraine concluding: “No, that’s fine, and that works.”

Prue Leith announced her exit from the hit competition back in January after nine years. The 85-year-old restaurateur and broadcaster first joined the series in 2017 when it moved from the BBC to Channel 4, and has been a beloved fixture on it ever since.

In a statement, she said: “Bake Off has been a fabulous part of my life for nine years. I have genuinely loved it and I’m sure I’ll miss working with my fellow judge Paul, Alison and Noel, and the teams at Love Productions and Channel 4.”

Speaking about stepping into Prue’s shoes, Nigella said: “I’m uncharacteristically rather lost for words right now. Of course it’s daunting to be following in the footsteps of Prue Leith and Mary Berry before her, great dames both, but I’m also bubbling with excitement.”

She added: “The Great British Bake Off is more than a television programme, it’s a National Treasure – and it’s a huge honour to be entrusted with it.

“I’m just thrilled to be joining the team and all the new bakers to come, I wish the marvellous Prue all the best, and am giddily grateful for the opportunity!”

The Great British Bake Off returns to Channel 4 later this year

‘Must-watch’ murder mystery perfect for Agatha Christie fans streaming for free

The unique crime drama is perfect for Agatha Christie fans, and is now available to watch for free.

A “must-watch” murder mystery perfect for Agatha Christie fans is now available to watch for free.

This Is Not A Murder Mystery follows a group of young Surrealist artists in the 1930s.

The Belgian English-language crime drama is now available to watch on Channel 4, after first airing last year.

Set in England in a lavish country estate, it sees a collection of famous artists finding themselves trapped with a serial killer.

The cast features Pierre Gervais as Rene Magritte, Inaki Mur as Salvador Dali, Florence Hall as Lee Miller, Frank Rourke as Man Ray and Mike Hoffman as Max Ernst.

The synopsis for This Is Not A Murder Mystery, taken from Magritte’s The Treachery of Images painting, reads: “Crime drama set in the flamboyant 1930s, following a group of young Surrealist artists, including Dali and Magritte, who are trapped in a lavish mansion with a serial killer on the loose.”

Viewers were left gripped by the unique period drama, with one person writing: “This series is a delightful and stylish twist on the classic whodunit. Set in the opulent 1930s with a gathering of legendary surrealist artists, it plays masterfully with suspense and visual flair.” They added: “For anyone looking for an intelligent drama wrapped in atmosphere and intrigue, this series is a must-watch.”

Another person branded it “worth watching” while someone else called it “charming”. When the trailer dropped, fans rushed to share their excitement, with one writing: “This looks *rilly* good, as another said: “This looks fun!”

Someone else said: “I’m so glad Agatha Christie-ish stories has taken ahold of media for now. It’s such a fun genre.”

Another added: “I’ve been itching for another story like this ever since Knives Out came out years ago! And I’m also really excited to see a cast where I don’t recognize anyone I’m sick of Hollywood only casting the same “trendy” actors in roles they’re ill-suited for so this is a nice chance to see other talent shine!”

Producer Kristoffel Mertens and Elly Vervloet previously spoke to Variety about turning their surrealist idea into this drama, with Mertens saying: “It started as the typical cliché idea that goes around in production companies.

“Everyone is very enthusiastic about it, but at the same time we would never be able to make it. Yet for this one, it remained with us and we kept going back to it, so in the end, we thought we could try to at least get it into development. And it turns out that “This is Not a Murder Mystery’ became one of the biggest shows ever made in Flanders.”

It’s definitely the biggest series we have ever done”, Vervloet added.

“We usually commission Flemish series for our local audience, creating a mix of domestic series and high-end TV shows as well.

“But at that level, it becomes a matter of dreaming big, being bold, and daring to make this choice as a public broadcaster to bring this English-spoken series to our audience and beyond.”

This Is Not A Murder Mystery is available to watch on Channel 4.

Scarlett Moffatt lands huge TV deal with ITV following latest I’m A Celeb success

Scarlett Moffatt is reaping the benefits of her popularity during her latest I’m A Celeb stint with her already being offered huge deals thanks to her on-screen success

Gogglebox star Scarlett Moffatt has landed a huge new deal with ITV following her I’m A Celeb success.

The popular TV personality missed out on being part of the I’m a Celebrity South Africa final after she was given the boot from the camp following a Bushtucker Trial that saw her have to count coloured balls. Fans were disappointed to see Scarlett, 35, axed before reaching the finale which ended up being an all-male line-up.

However, the exit has done her no harm with ITV bosses among an array of channels and brands who are keen to work with her following her latest stint. Scarlett said: “I have got something coming up with ITV and I’ve just done a photoshoot in Barcelona.”

She continued to The Sun: “It’s been a whirlwind recently. It feels like the first time I came out of the jungle ten years ago — the same thing is happening again.”

Scarlett was just 25 years old when she was crowned the Queen of the Jungle in 2016, two years after she found fame on Gogglebox. She went on to become a TV presenter in joining Ant and Dec on their hit show Saturday Night Takeaway, before diverting to Channel 4 to reboot Davina McCall ’s dating show Streetmate.

Scarlett also served as a host of I’m a Celeb spin-off Extra Camp. She welcomed her son Jude in June 2023 and took some time away from the world of entertainment, however her fresh stint on the I’m a Celebrity all-stars series has placed her firmly back in the spotlight cementing her popularity with the public.

A source said: “Scarlett might not have reached the final of I’m a Celebrity but she’s shone this series and it’s reminded everyone how funny, kind and brilliant she is. Her diary is packed with offers but she’s thrilled to have a big new project with ITV booked.”

Meanwhile, Scarlett revealed earlier this week that she and fiancé Scott Dobson are now expecting their second child. Speaking at ITV’s Showcase event on Thursday night, she said: “I’m so excited to be pregnant again.

“I didn’t know if it would happen again so I’m so grateful that I get to be a mammy for two. When I first had my little boy Jude, I decided to take two years off. Then I’ve come back into it head first and I’m pregnant again.

“But I don’t know if I’d want to take another two-year break — I love this job. I feel so grateful that I get to call this my career. I hope I’ll do lots of new things.”

The baby news came after viewers saw Scarlett talking about her fertility struggles in heart-wrenching scenes shown on I’m a Celebrity last week.

Tyler West and Chloe Burrows let slip ‘awkward’ interview with Hollywood legend

The KISS Breakfast radio hosts appeared on Channel 4’s Sunday Brunch this weekend

Tyler West and Chloe Burrows made an unexpected admission on Sunday Brunch.

Lorraine presenter Tyler, 30, and Love Island legend Chloe, 30, landed radio host roles on Kiss FM earlier this year, with the pair taking over the Breakfast show from Jordan Banjo and Perri Kiely.

Tyler and Chloe made an appearance on the latest episode of Channel 4’s Sunday Brunch (April 19), where they spoke to hosts Tim Lovejoy and Simon Rimmer about their radio show.

The pair excitedly spoke about meeting a variety of A-list stars through their new show, including Halle Berry, Margot Robbie and Chris Hemsworth. Chloe said: “They were so lovely. Everyone’s been really nice.”

Tim then asked: “Who are the rotten ones?” with Tyler issuing a very candid reply.

“Do you know what I’m going to say, I’m not going to say rotten ones. We had a really awkward one, I’m just going to say it, with Ryan Gosling,” he shared.

Chloe added: “Oh god, it was awful! I think he was really jet lagged and we were his first interview of the day, and we are kind of like a massive ball of energy. We’re like punchline, punchline, punchline, and he looked slightly bewildered.”

Tyler said: “He looked so confused. It literally got to the point where we had three minutes left of the interview and [we were] like, ‘Anything you want to chat about?'”

Chloe continued: “He looked for help,” before adding: “He asked us at one point if we’d actually seen the film, so that was good. And we had.”

Tim then noted: “I reckon if you interviewed him tomorrow, he’d be a lovely bloke, do you know what I mean? That’s how it is.”

Following the announcement of his role at KISS, Tyler previously said in a statement: “KISS FAM! The mornings are gonna be unreal! Taking over from my boys Jordan and Perri is huge… but trust me, I’m ready to bring it! It’s time for big laughs and bigger tunes. KISS is where home is – this is your new breakfast show where the door is always open. It’s gonna be carnage!”

Chloe added: “I can’t believe I’m saying this – I’m joining KISS! While I know I’ve got big shoes to fill, stepping into the station that I’ve been a HUGE fan of growing up will feel like being launched into my dream job at 100 miles an hour.

“Being the newbie, I know that working alongside Tyler and a world-class team of producers will give me the perfect introduction. I’m more than ready to bring the laughs and every ounce of energy I’ve got for the KISS Breakfast listeners. I’m buzzing!”

As well as hosting the morning show on KISS, Chloe also recently attended Coachella in California, with the star posting smiling snaps with her best friend Millie Court on social media. They were also joined by Love Island: All Stars winner Samie Elishi, and Sophie Piper.

Sunday Brunch is available to stream on Channel 4, while KISS Breakfast airs weekdays from 6am

Claudia Winkleman says Strictly ‘deserves’ change as she admits truth behind sad exit

Claudia Winkleman explains it was a very emotional moment when she left Strictly Come Dancing with Tess Daly last year

They will be watching the new series of Strictly Come Dancing together. But Claudia Winkleman says she and Tess Daly decided to bow out from the BBC show because they worried about becoming complacent in their roles.

No one ever doubted the pair loved BBC’s ballroom series. But speaking in-depth about their decision to leave, Claudia says she started to see signs that they needed to go ahead with their pact to quit at the same time.

“You want to leave on a high,” says Claudia. “And you want to leave when you are loving it. We were tiny cogs in this huge sparkly, glittery thing. We were tiny as we had props guys holding Eiffel Towers, the amazing band, the dancers, the costume and hair and make-up and everything else and the lighting.

“We thought it was time to leave. Years earlier they said Gloria Estefan was playing in Blackpool and we were like ‘I cant believe it’. I phoned my husband and said ‘I have to practice the Conga’.”

By then end of their run though, even big names and learning new dances were commonplace. She explains: “We thought it was time to leave. You know, not that I was not excited at the end, but both of us were a bit like ‘Oh yeah…cool. Alright, so then I do that…(routine)’.

“It deserves ‘new’ (change). But what shocked me was, we did the last live show. All week was like ‘We are fine’ but I could not stop crying as it has been my entire life. You know sometimes when you decide something like ‘Let’s move house’. Then you pick up the final box. Not that you have done something wrong but it just feels big.”

For Strictly’s launch in 2026, it will be all change in terms of hosts but also with some things still be the same. Claudia and Tess will be together, but snuggled up away from the cameras.

“Tess and I have already planned. We are having jacket potatoes and I am having the salmon. She is coming to ours, her and Vern(husband Vernon Kay). I am not joking. I am going to set her up with a nightie and we are going to watch and support and love it.”

For many years now, pretty much every TV show Claudia Winkleman has touched turned to gold.

Her Strictly Come Dancing stint on the main show for 15 years, hosting The Traitors and now huge spin off hit Celebrity Traitors too, as well as smaller shows like The Piano which won critical acclaim for Channel 4.

For her other major project The Traitors, Claudia says it requires very different skills compared to fronting Strictly, where she says a lot of the credit should go to Tess.

“Tess did all the heavy lifting on Strictly and I am grateful for it. But on Traitors I had to be strict. I was worried about that. I am in life a cheerleader like if my kids fill the dishwasher I am like ‘Lets film it’. So I am a cheerleader and I am able do that on Traitors when they do the missions. I want to feed them chocolate as I am on their side.

“But I have to get a bit strict like when my kids have not done their homework. I love the game so much so that is how I have to be. The producers did tell me to push it.”

Whilst she will continue to front the series, she admits it has made her more thoughtful about lying and deceit in real life.

“Traitors makes me cry. I am not that harsh. I want the traitors to win and the faithful to get them in equal measure. Also it is a lot of money if it is for charity or for them individually.

I have learned a lot of things that I wish I had not. It has made me realise there is no such thing as gut instinct. It is all about what you tell yourself afterwards. And I have learnt you can know the truth but you can persuade people to follow you and that makes me heartbroken. Will I do a children’s version? No.”

After referencing her kids, Claudia, at a charity Q&A event, is asked more about her own family.

She has been married to film producer Kris Thykier since 2000, and they have three children: Jake, Matilda, and Arthur. But there appears to be no risk of nepo babies in the Winkleman household.

With a grin Claudia says: “I told them to nepo up. One wants to work in hospitality, one wants to be a doctor and one wants to be a chemist. I said ‘I can navigate you work experience’ and they were like ‘No thanks mum.’ They are not interested in film (husband’s work) like they say ‘Not unless it comes in a test tube’. So no. That is not what they have asked for.”

Claudia was giving a rare interview to TV director Ben Winston at St John’s Wood Synagogue in London in aid of Lira Winston Fellowships, which focus on identifying and nurturing Jewish school educators

Asked about her thoughts on rising anti semitism, she said: “How do I navigate the industry? The industry itself does not feel anti-Semitic to me. That is my experience. But the growing anti-Semitism and the growing Islamophobia and racism that we see everywhere is really, really terrifying I suppose.

“I don’t want to say terrifying in front of my kids, but it is worrying. And that is why it is so important that we have got to look after each other and people from other communities.”

Channel 4 Your Song viewers ‘work out’ why new show seems so familiar after one episode

The new Channel 4 series follows talented singer from across the country as they compete for a chance to perform at one of London’s most iconic venues

Channel 4 viewers have worked out why brand new series Your Song seems so familiar after just one episode.

The singing competition made its anticipated debut on Sunday (April 12) 12, hosted by beloved presenter Alison Hammond. The series gives ordinary people from across Britain the chance to perform a special song on a stage in front of their hometowns.

Whether it’s a track that ushered them through heartbreak or an original tune that reminds them of their loved ones, the singers are given the opportunity to share their stories through music.

Pop stars Paloma Faith and Sam Ryder act as the contestants’ mentors, judging their performances in a hidden location away from the crowds. The winner will ultimately perform on stage at London’s Hackney Empire.

But it wasn’t the singers who caught viewers’ attention during the series premiere. Fans were quick to note that Your Song has a very similar format to The Piano, another talent show by the network.

Taking to X, formerly Twitter, one fan penned: “This is giving a cross between The Voice and the Piano. #YourSong.”

Another agreed: “So new #YourSong is just the amazing #Piano series but without the piano??? Think I’d rather have The Piano as used to host and judges etc….but will give this a go ..let’s see.”

Someone else, who was a fan of The Piano, added: “#YourSong I watched all of The Piano episodes. Not sure I’ll stick with this though but I’ll see what the first few singers are like..”

Hosted by Claudia Winkleman and pianist Lang Lang, the series similarly features amateur musicians, although they perform pieces on a piano. The judges also observe the contestants from a nearby room, before selecting finalists for a major end-of-show concert.

Despite spotting the similarities, however, some fans have shared positive reviews of the new show. “The singers on this are quite good tbf,” wrote one, with another adding: “What a performance from Elliott.”

Elliott, 17, was one of the first performers of the competition. He hails from Liverpool, which was the show’s very first stop. There, singers performed everything from chart-toppers from Sam Fender to original songs.

They also opened up about how each tune carried them through difficult times, which left the judges visibly moved.

Your Song is available to stream on Channel 4

BBC Beyond Paradise reveals cast are set to reunite very soon in sweet update

The Beyond Paradise star shared a rare insight into the cast of the BBC show.

Death in Paradise may have wrapped up recently, but one Beyond Paradise is in full swing, with one star sharing details of a sweet cast reunion.

Felicity Montagu, who plays Margo Martins on the BBC show, discussed her time on Beyond Paradise on live TV today.

The 65-year-old actress appeared as a guest on Channel 4’s Sunday Brunch, which is hosted by Tim Lovejoy and Simon Rimmer.

Speaking about the Death in Paradise spin-off, which she has starred in since 2023, Felicity reflected: “I think the acting’s very good in it.

“I’ve acted for 43 years and I know when I’m acting with someone when I think it’s vacuous and nothing’s happening, and everyone’s really doing their job.

“It’s brilliantly directed and produced, and with Tony Jordan at the helm I just feel very, very safe.”

Tim and Simon then showed a clip of Felicity acting opposite Derry Girls star Dylan Llewellyn, who plays Constable Kelby Hartford on the BBC mystery show.

After the scene ended, the host praised Dylan as “such a lovely bloke”, prompting Felicity to reveal that a cast reunion is happening very soon.

“Yes, he is,” she agreed, “We’re all meeting up in a couple of weeks’ time, which is very nice.”

Asked where the show is based, Felicity confirmed: “In Devon. Shipton Abbott, it’s called in the programme.”

However, she then confirmed that the show is really filmed in Looe, which is located in Cornwall.

“It’s great,” she continued, “The fish mongers have gone really upmarket since we’ve been there…

“And I was going to talk to them because I thought their prices had gone up, but then I thought I’d better not start,” she quipped.

Beyond Paradise is set to return this Friday at 8pm, which is good news for fans missing Death in Paradise, which concluded its latest season two weeks ago.

Elsewhere on Sunday Brunch, Simon and Tim interviewed Keith Lemon comedian Leigh Francis and his wife Jill Carter, who admitted she was “nervous” about making her on-screen debut.

Trainspotter and social media star Francis Bourgeois was also included in today’s line-up, while Marvel actor Fra Fee and singer Jordan Rakei also appeared as guests.

Sunday Brunch airs every Sunday at 10am on Channel 4.

The Inbetweeners ‘returning to screens for first time in 16 years’

Hit comedy series The Inbetweeners’ return to screens is reported to be close with Simon Bird, James Buckley, Blake Harrison and Joe Thomas all said to be keen for a reunion

Cult comedy The Inbetweeners could be making a huge comeback, with all four original stars all on board for an incredible reunion more than 15 years on.

The iconic Noughties sitcom may have only run for three series, spawning two follow-up films, but it still remains one of the most popular British shows in decades. Now another movie is edging ever closer with a multi-million-pound deal “being finalised” – and it could land on Nexflix next year.

Will McKenzie (Simon Bird), Simon Cooper (Joe Thomas), Jay Cartwright (James Buckley), and Neil Sutherland (Blake Harrison) were at the heart of the Channel 4 hit as the socially awkward friends tried to make the most of their teenage years with often disastrous results.

Emily Atack, who played tortured Charlotte “Big Jugs” Hinchliffe on the show, is also said to be up for reprising her role with other originals reportedly considering offers to return. Many of the lads’ parents, including Belinda Stewart-Wilson – Will’s saucy mum Polly – will be high on fans’ wish lists.

“Inbetweeners fans will be thrilled and relieved because when talk of a reboot emerged last year, there were fears it might not turn out to be a telly project,” A source told The Sun. “But this deal will mean the comedy will be back on our television screens for the first time in 16 years, even though it won’t in its original home on Channel 4.

Netflix have been keen to make the project happen partly because its enjoyed a bit of a renaissance since old episodes aired on the streaming service and introduced a whole new generation to the show. The deal is on the cusp of being fully rubber stamped, with discussions still happening about production timelines, storylines and cast.”

Actor Joe, who portrayed unlucky in love Simon, spoke out about talk of the show returning, confirming that something is in the works. However, the 42-year-old has remained tight-lipped on what fans can expect.

He shared: “I can’t really say anything more than what’s already been put out there, which is basically that a deal has been struck between [TV production sisters] Fudge Park and Banijay, which means that it’s now possible to do more.

“I haven’t seen anything from them about what that might be, so I’m sort of, to a certain extent, waiting to hear as well.”

Creators Morris and Beesley have already confirmed that the reboot will thankfully not be focussed on a new set of characters. In a statement, they humorously clarified: “Incredibly exciting to be plotting more adventures for our four favourite friends (ooh friends).”

Last summer, fans were left convinced something was brewing when Joe and James, who played Jay, shared a cryptic post on Instagram that got fans tongues wagging about a possible reunion. While the pair did not give anything away James captioned the post: “Working on something…” One fan asked: “Inbetweeners 3?” whilst another listed their wishes should a reunion come about.

One fan said: “We need an Inbetweeners reunion. Set 10/15 years later. Jay gets married and carnage ensues. American Pie reunion showed that it can be done well,” and finished their comment off with a fingers crossed emoji. A third fan simply wrote: “Inbetweeners 3, we waiting,” and another joked: “Where are the other two melons?”

First Dates star’s ‘isolating’ condition that left her in and out of hospital

First Dates returns to Channel 4 tonight with more hopeful singles looking for love

First Dates: Girl discusses her cystic fibrosis condition

One First Dates star opened up on her incurable condition that left her living in fear of illness.

A First Dates star was informed she wouldn’t survive beyond the age of 16 following a diagnosis with an “isolating condition”.

The BAFTA-winning dating programme is scheduled to return for a brand new series tonight (Friday, 10th April), tracking singletons searching for romance as they embark on their first date at an upmarket restaurant in Bath.

Making its comeback to Channel 4 with its opening episode tonight at 10pm, the optimistic singles remain unaware of who their prospective match might be as they meet for the first time at the restaurant, overseen by French maître d’ Fred Sirieix and his team.

Featuring awkward encounters and flourishing romantic connections, the programme has become enormously popular with audiences since it initially premiered in 2013.

This evening’s episode will feature a yoga teacher meeting a mindfulness coach, alongside a former Lioness turned firefighter, reports OK!.

A synopsis states: “First Dates returns with a brand new series as Fred and the team match hopeful singles looking for love. From a yoga Instructor and a mindfulness coach navigating an age gap to a returning dater hoping for a better chance, sparks are flying.”

It continues: “A former lioness meets a cat lover, and a doctor faces her nerves with a self confessed geek searching for the one.”

During the episode, one First Dates star revealed details about a degenerative condition which led her parents to be told she wouldn’t survive past 16. Briefly pausing her date, 27 year old Nicole from East Sussex informed 24 year old Matthew she needed to take some medication before revealing: “I actually have cystic fibrosis. It’s a life long condition, you’re born with it, there’s no cure.”

Nicole continued to explain she had been a healthy child until the age of seven before experiencing a chest infection that persisted for three years, while being admitted to hospital every three months.

Characterising it as an “isolating condition”, the 27 year old said she would consume 30 tablets daily, living with the anxiety of contracting an illness.

Speaking to producers, the First Dates star revealed: “My parents were told that I would only live until I was 16. I think I have mentally blocked it out as a way of coping.”

Nevertheless, in encouraging news, Nicole shared with her date: “In 2020 this brand new modulator therapy came about and it was a big turning point to me, touch wood I have been pretty well ever since. Last year I started paying into a pension.”

Meanwhile, one Lioness-turned-firefighter became emotional during her date. Abbie, 32, from Manchester, was matched with 27 year old dental nurse Charlotte as they quickly began discussing their professions.

Abbie disclosed she had been a firefighter for one year, but previously had been a footballer for Manchester City, Manchester United and Leicester – even representing England.

However, she became tearful as she revealed that a tragic accident, which resulted in her breaking her leg, marked the end of her football career. She confided to producers: “It ended my career, which was heartbreaking. I’m going to get upset now… sorry.”

First Dates returns to Channel 4 tonight at 10pm.

Great British Bake Off fans livid as technical issue interrupts Channel 4 show

The Great British Bake Off left fans in a state of panic as the show suffered technical issues which disrupted the viewing of fans across the UK who vented their fury on social media

Viewers of The Great British Bake Off were left unimpressed during Sunday night’s episode for Stand Up To Cancer, as the show was interrupted by technical issues.

As fans of the Channel 4 show sat down to settle in to watching the baking show, they were met with flickering screens. The stars on this year’s show include Sam Thompson, Vicky Pattison and Molly Mae Hague.

And to make matters worse, the show was interrupted multiple time, leaving viewers taking to X to vent their frustration. One person said: “What’s going on? @Channel4 how can we watch #Bakeoff with it breaking up all the time.”

Another person asked: “Anyone else have signal issues while watching Bake Off this evening? We’ve had several shaky screeners tonight. #bakeoff.” Meanwhile, a third person questioned: “Anyone else getting a stuttering broadcast and the occasional pixel madness of an 80s top of the pops episode??”

In response to the tweets coming through, a fourth person agreed with the general sentiment: “Me on Sky. I’ve recorded it and only just started watching it.” They added: “I’ve stopped and started it again, thinking it might have been weather-related, so I’m glad it’s not just me ! #GBBO”.

And this sparked a flurry of people coming forward complaining of the same issue. The technical glitch appears to have affected viewers to the point where they had “given up” watching the show.

Other celebrities who took part in that episode also included Alex Brooker, Ambika Mod and Rose Ayling-Ellis, who were all competing against one another to be awarded the Star Baker apron.

They were given three challenges. One of which was to make mini rolls, another was to bake a syrup sponge pudding and a choux pastry.

And it was EastEnders star Rose who impressed the judges the most, and she was crowned winner of their round. Last week, Molly-Mae won her episode.

Judge Paul Hollywood was most impressed with Molly-Mae. One hearing that she had won her segment, she screamed with joy and said: “That has made my life, you don’t understand! Thank you so much!”

And after leaving the show, the mum of one, who is pregnant with her second child with fiancé Tommy Fury, took to her Instagram.

She wrote: “Still trying to process that this even happened! Taking part in Bake Off for Stand Up To Cancer was honestly one of the most insane experiences of my life.”

She added: “Just so grateful to have been part of something so special for such an incredible cause… I’ll truly never get over it @su2cuk @britishbakeoff.”

For the remaining episodes, the stars taking part include JLS singer Aston Merrygold, Rag’N’Bone and Celebrity Traitors’ Joe Wilkinson.

Celebrity Bake Off judge Celebrity Bake Off judge Cherish Finden made her debut on the Channel 4 show. And when asked by Noel Fielding how she found her time on the show, she replied: ” ‘I’ve had a great time. He is a master-baker.”

This comes after it was announced that Prue Leith was stepping down from her judging role after nine series. Replacing her, will be TV chef Nigella Lawson.

JONATHAN ROSS has gone up in my estimations after his recent good deed.

I can reveal that the veteran TV presenter splashed out £25,000 on a car for a contestant who took part in his latest Channel 4 gameshow.

Handcuffed: Last Pair Standing saw two people from different walks of life chained together 24/7 for the chance to win £100,000.

But when North London barmaid Tilly Martin lost out on a share of the mega prize money, Wossy took pity on her.

The kind-hearted dad-of-three, who is worth £30million, bought Tilly – who spends her spare time feeding the homeless – a Ford Puma once filming for the show wrapped.

A source said: “Tilly still lives with her mum and was really living hand-to-mouth.

Inside Jonathan Ross’s wild new show where players shower & poop together

“Jonathan felt bad for Tilly after she lost out, so he quietly paid for a new car out of his own money to help get her on her feet. It was a little out of the ordinary but Jonathan just wanted to help and could see that a vehicle would make her life a little easier.

“He didn’t want anyone to know about his kind gesture, he just wanted to help – especially as she gave so much time to homeless people in the capital.”

In the show, Tilly was handcuffed to eccentric millionaire classic car businessman Anthony Saxon Kearsley.

She said on the show: “If I won a share of £100,000, to me, that’s lottery money.

“I think Britain is divided. You’re either really, really rich or you’re on your a**hole

“I work three jobs. I think when people first meet me, they think, ‘Oh, she’s a bit much’. I swear quite a bit. It just happens.”

Both Channel 4 and Jonathan declined to comment.

‘Original’ sci-fi film from writers of ‘best horror movie ever’ on TV tonight

Fans will need to tune in as it is not streaming anywhere

An ‘original’ sci-fi film that comes from the writers of the ‘best horror movie ever’ is on TV tonight.

The movie, 65, was originally released in 2023 and gives film fans the ideal way to begin their extended bank holiday weekend. According to its synopsis, the story follows a lone pilot named Mills, who after a catastrophic crash, lands on an unknown planet.

He quickly discovers he’s actually stranded on Earth… 65 million years ago. Now, with only one chance at rescue, Mills and the only other survivor, Koa must make their way across an unknown terrain riddled with dangerous prehistoric creatures in an epic fight to survive.

Those wanting to watch the film will be able to watch it tonight (April 2) from 9pm on Film4. Fans will need to make sure they tune in if they don’t want to miss it as at the time of writing, the title is not currently streaming anywhere. Viewers could alternatively tune in to Film4+1 where the film will begin an hour later at 10pm.

Adam Driver, known for playing Kylo Ren in the Star Wars sequel trilogy leads the cast as Mills, while he is also joined by Ariana Greenblatt as Koa. Former Disney actress Greenblatt has since appeared in Barbie, Borderlands and Now You See Me Now You Don’t.

The film was written and directed by writing partners Scott Beck and Bryan Woods. The pair are most famously known for being the ones who penned the original horror film A Quiet Place before handing off creative control of the franchise to John Krasinski. They also made Heretic together, with fans calling both of their spooky offerings as ‘one of the best horror movies ever’.

Meanwhile, 65 failed to repeat the commercial success of their previous projects. It only made $60 million against a $45 million budget at the worldwide box office. And despite its less than favourable 35% rating on Rotten Tomatoes, many fans say it is well worth checking out.

Although one critic looking back on the film did share an updated verdict for why it is worth watching years after its release.

the film delivers a tense sci-fi survival story where action drives a narrative of isolation and connection. Fans of creature features and suspense will appreciate its concise format, focused on impact and pacing, echoing the tradition of dinosaur movies that have long held a unique place in the world of blockbuster cinema.

Many fans go so far as to disagree completely with the negative critical reviews. Its brief 93 minute runtime is also hailed as a positive and preferred option than slogging through a marathon release.

One fan went so far say it is the “best dinosaur movie ever made” with many making comparisons to how it has superior action to the Jurassic World movies. Another viewer added: “This film deserves 10 STARS!!! Instant Classic!!!”

Someone else claimed: “This movie checked off all the boxes. Space travel, dinosaurs, suspense, emotional connection, and Adam Driver! It doesn’t waste any time grabbing your attention, and the compelling story line is a great ride all the way through.”

However there are some who disagree, although they largely feel disappointed in the ending. Others argue that 65 did not get a fair chance at the cinema because it ended up against some big franchise sequels like John Wick 4, Shazam 2, Scream VI and Creed III.

One fan gave the ultimate approval when they commented: “Think Jurassic Park but much better and believe me when I say a lot better. This is that rare science fiction action movie that people have tried to make but didn’t get it right. Here, they finally not only got it right but they excelled!! Plus, real life marine Adam Driver is top notch in a really exciting movie.”

65 airs tonight at 9pm on Film4.
