BBC Breakfast presenter Charlie Stayt likes to keep his private life away from spotlight but is he married and does he have any children?

Charlie Stayt has woke up the nation on BBC Breakfast for 20 years.
The 64-year-old broadcaster has been a presenter on the morning show since 2006 and his co-host Naga Munchetty became a permanent member of the team in 2014.
He notoriously likes to keep his private life out of the spotlight and is rarely pictured with his wife, Anne Breckell, who is said to be a manager at a global corporation, according to The Sun.
However, The Mail report Annie works as a radio personality and an actress. The couple tied the knot back in 1995 before going on to welcome two children together two years later.
They first welcomed Phoebe Senara, who was born in 1997, and then Jake Hamilton, who arrived in 2000. According to reports, the family reside in west London.
Charlie is incredibly private about his family life and does not have a social media presence. Before becoming a journalist, Charlie reportedly had stints as a roofer, a barman, and a roadie.
He says these years were not entirely wasted and refers to himself as a “late starter as a journalist.” Charlie first began his career on a commercial radio station in his hometown of Gloucester, before landing a lucrative gig as a news presenter in London.
In 1995, he began his television career working for ITN, then joined Five News as a reporter. Shortly after this, he began presenting the network’s prime-time bulletins as well as the live debate programmes.
While working at Five News, he anchored the network’s 9/11 coverage and spent a total of ten years at ITN. In 2006, Charlie initially joined BBC Breakfast as a relief presenter but in December 2007, he was confirmed as the programme’s main host.
He also dabbled in the world of reality TV, hosting shows Jailbreak and Are You Telepathic and even appeared as a contestant on The Weakest Link in 2022.
Speaking to RadioTimes.com in 2023, Charlie offered a glimpse into his morning routine, sharing: “I refuse to snooze. As soon as the alarm goes off, I am up.
“The other thing is, I embrace the siesta. It’s become a big thing for me. I sort of sit down in the afternoon and consciously do nothing. No snooze and have a siesta, that’s the formula.”
Charlie, who co-hosts BBC Breakfast Thursday to Saturday, earns between £190,000 and £194,999 per year for his work on the show. This figure was confirmed in the BBC Annual Report covering top on-air salaries. His pay has remained unchanged from previous years.
It was announced last month that Charlie’s co-host Naga will be leaving Breakfast later this year as begins her new role on Radio 5 Live in January. It is yet to be revealed who will join Charlie on the sofa.
