Outer Banks fans in tears as finale ‘doesn’t feel the same’ after tragic loss

Outer Banks officially came to an end with a heartwarming final scene, but one thing was missing.

Outer Banks fans struggled to make it through the final season following a devastating death.

Outer Banks is back with a fifth and final season on Netflix and fans have already binged their way through all 10 episodes.

The final outing saw the Pogues cope with a tragic loss and seek revenge, while racing around the world to claim back the Blue Crown. Fans were quick to point out the notable absence of JJ Maybank (played by Rudy Pankow), a beloved Pogue who died in the season four finale.

*Warning: this story contains spoilers for Outer Banks*

He was fatally stabbed by his biological father, Chandler Groff (J. Anthony Crane), and fans were devastated at the tragic loss. While watching the season five episodes, they admitted the series “didn’t feel the same” without JJ.

They flocked to X to share their thoughts, with one saying: “I hoped so much that JJ would come back to life thanks to the Blue Crown, but it was no use. I mean, why is it always my favourite characters?”

Another shared: “It’s really hard watching this show with JJ gone, it just doesn’t feel the same, he should be there with them [crying emojis].”

The finale included a group shot of the gang, but JJ was missing, and one fan pointed out: “The last frame being just the Pogues. But JJ should be there, man.”

Another viewer commented: “JJ was genuinely one of the best characters in Outer Banks. Season 5 didn’t hit the same without him…” Someone else shared: “20mins into Episode 1 of @obxnetflix and it already feels weird without JJ.”

Fans were also emotional over a heartbreaking flashback scene, which depicted the first time JJ and his best friend-turned-love interest, Kiara Carrera (Madison Bailey), met as young children.

“That JJ & Kiara flashback of when they were young and they first met [crying emoji],” one fan said, while a second echoed: “The first time Kiara and JJ met. Aww, my babies [crying and heartbreak emojis].”

Just before the final season dropped, it was announced that a prequel series had been given the green light and would detail the origin story of the feud between the Pogues and the Kooks.

Set 20 years before the events of Outer Banks, creator Josh Pate explained the premise to Deadline: “It really is the story of how the island split — and it’s particularly relevant in our country right now — how it split into the haves and have-nots, how the Kooks and the Pogues started. How did this rift start?”

Creator Shannon Burke added: “And seen through the stories of some of the characters you know and some new characters. But they’re 20 years before, so it’s the parents’ generation.”

Outer Banks featured John B (Chase Stokes) and JJ’s dads, as well as Sarah (Madelyn Cline) and Rafe Cameron’s (Drew Starkey) dad, Pope’s (Jonathan Daviss) and Kiara’s parents and Topper’s (Austin North) mother and grandfather.

Emotional Alex Jones fights back tears as she shares message with The One Show fans

The One Show host Alex Jones struggled to hold back her emotions as she shared a heartfelt message to fans watching at home

Alex Jones was visibly emotional as she shared a message to fans during The One Show’s anniversary special.

The Welsh presenter has fronted the popular BBC magazine show since 2010 and she was joined by some former co-stars as well as her current colleagues live on air during Friday’s (August 14) hour-long programme to mark its 20th birthday.

Alex hosted the programme alongside Roman Kemp and the duo were joined by the current team of presenters – Angellica Bell, Clara Amfo, JB Gill and Vernon Kay – for the momentous occasion.

As well as catching up with current co-stars, former hosts Christine Lampard and Matt Baker returned to the iconic green sofa to share their memories of working on the show.

There was also a special film from the show’s original presenter Adrian Chiles, who hosted the very first episode back in 2006 alongside Nadia Sawalha.

From looking back at memorable guests to playing throwback clips, the anniversary programme was filled with joy and just before the credits rolled, Alex shared a heartfelt message with fans.

Speaking directly to the camera, the mother-of-three said: “I just want to say a huge thank you to the team and crew that work relentlessly hard in this programme to make it a brilliant show for all of you every day, thank you to all of the guests for entertaining us and being generous their time.

She continued: “Thank you to all of my co-hosts over the years. I’ve been so lucky to sit next to all of them and lastly thank you to you at home, you’re the most important in all of this, thank you for being with us every weekday. It’s a real privilege for us all to be with you at seven every night.”

The emotional presenter then went on to introduce musical guest Tom Grennan, who closed the anniversary special with a rendition of his hit single A Little Bit Of Love.

Fans at home rushed to social media to share their thoughts on the hour-long special marking the show’s landmark birthday. Taking to X, formerly known as Twitter, one fan penned: “Really enjoyed #TheOneShow 20th anniversary.”

Another added: “Can you release this special one show on DVD please #TheOneShow.” Someone else wrote: “This 20 year celebration is a great hour of TV. Happy Birthday #TheOneShow.”

A fourth added: “Happy 20th anniversary @BBCTheOneShow – I love the warmth and inclusivity of the programme #theoneshow.” A fifth agreed: “I love a good TV montage! 20 years of pure TV live entertainment!”

However, the live show didn’t go off without a hitch as the government’s emergency alert interrupted the beginning of the programme. A confused Alex told viewers at the time: “You couldn’t make that up could you. I think it’s a fire alarm but we’ll continue for you and I’m doing my best to keep a straight face.”

However, It was later revealed that millions of people across England and Wales received an emergency alert on their phones from 7pm warning against lighting anything that could spark a wildfire, including barbecues, campfires, and fireworks.

Davina McCall fights back tears on ITV’s Long Lost Family after emotional discovery

Davina McCall was visibly moved on Long Lost Family as she made a life-changing discovery

Davina McCall struggled to keep her emotions under control during the latest epsidoe of the heartwarming ITV series.

The beloved TV presenter fought back tears during an emotional episode of Long Lost Family which aired on Monday (August 10 ) after revealing to 76-year-old Christine that the search for her biological family had uncovered her birth certificate and an unknown brother.

Christine left in a train carriage at Waterloo station in 1949. She was discovered and taken into care, beginning a life in which the identity of her birth parents remained one of the greatest unanswered questions she carried with her.

She has spent much of her life wondering about her biological family and where she had come from. Although she had always questioned whether she would ever discover the truth, she admitted she never expected the moment to actually happen.

Away from the cameras, Davina had already broken the heartbreaking news that Christine’s birth parents had been found but had sadly died.

Speaking to Christine, Davina asked: “How are you?” Christine replied: “It was a bit of a shock. Oh, my gosh. It’s actually happening.” She explained that she had been struggling to process everything, saying that her mind had been “addled” since learning what the Long Lost Family team had discovered.

Christine admitted that she had never really expected to find her birth mother alive. She said: “I didn’t think my mother would be alive now. I’m 76 this year, but there’s always been that question. ‘Who’s my family?’” But Davina then revealed something that made the emotional moment even more poignant.

The presenter was visibly moved as she told Christine: “I want to show you something today. It’s the first time I’ve ever been able to do this for someone. I have a birth certificate.”

Christine was visibly overwhelmed by the discovery. “Oh, goodness. So my birth was registered,” she said. Davina, visibly emotional herself, confirmed that it was. She explained that Christine’s birth mother, Joyce, was just 22 years old when she gave birth to her.

For Christine, the information was difficult to absorb. “It is a lot to take in. Oh, my goodness. So I was born in Portsmouth,” she said.

Davina confirmed that Christine had been born in hospital. The discovery appeared to answer some of the questions Christine had carried with her for decades.

Christine began trying to piece together what may have happened to her young mother. She reflected: “So, she’s looked after, and I was looked after. She must have left the hospital and gone straight up to Waterloo. But it doesn’t have the father. Probably couldn’t look after me on her own.”

Then Christine asked the question that would lead to another extraordinary discovery. “Did she have any more children?” Davina replied simply: “She did.” Christine immediately reacted with shock. “Oh, my gosh. This just gets better,” she said.

Davina then revealed that Christine had a brother named Barry — and that he had been born just one year before her. Christine wanted to know what had happened to him and asked whether Barry had stayed with their mother.

But Davina revealed that Barry had also been fostered. Davina explained: “Barry has got a birth certificate and that’s what your birth mother’s name is on it. He was the key to everything.”

Later on in the show Christine finally reunited with brother Barry. The reunion was particularly poignant given that Christine had already learned the heart breaking news that her biological parents had both died.

Wizz Air passenger left in TEARS and nearly misses flight after bag size confusion

A WIZZ AIR passenger was left in tears and nearly forced to miss her flight after a disagreement over her bag size.

Katy Hayward, 21, was at London Gatwick Airport heading for Santorini with Wizz Air when she was told she could not board her flight.

Travelling with her two friends, the group reached the gate at the airport and a member of staff pulled them to the side and informed them that their bags were too big and they would not be allowed to board the flight.

In a video shared on her TikTok account @katyhaywardd, Katy – who was in tears – passed the phone to her best friend of four years, Kelsea, 26, who explained what happened.

She said: “We have just been through the gate at Wizz Air and this woman has just screamed in our faces saying we can’t fly because we have these bags – apparently these bags are too big.”

She then turns the camera back to Katy who is showing a holdall-style bag often seen when flying on budget airlines.

Kelsea adds: “Bear in mind we bought these bags specifically for Wizz Air, we’d measured them and everything – there are people that have got bags just as big.”

The camera then pans to other passengers who have similar sized bags.

Kelsea continued: “She was screaming in Katy’s face.

“I’ve just gone up to her and said, ‘excuse me, my friend is really scared of flying, can you speak to us with a bit more respect please, we are happy to take things out of the bag, you just need to speak to her a bit more softly because she’s already anxious’.

“She started going ‘I don’t care, I don’t care’.

“She said if I don’t get out of the area, I won’t be able to fly – my heart is beating so fast.”

Kelsea went on to explain that another member of the gate team stepped in to try and calm the situation, despite the other member of staff still shouting at the group of girls.

Other members of staff nearby also did not intervene while this happened.

Several travellers can then be heard in the background of the video commenting: “That’s unfair. Disgusting. They shouldn’t do that.”

Katy told The Sun: “I think it’s also important to mention how humiliating the whole experience was.

“I was left sitting on the floor on my own having a panic attack, and my friends weren’t even allowed to come over and comfort me.

“They did not measure our bag in the bag sizer at all.”

Kelsea added a photo of the bags under the seats on the plane in the comments section.

She said: “For everyone asking, the bags WERE the right size. Bought specifically with the right measurements and measured before flying!

“Absolutely no comment from the other staff at check in, literally just this one woman at the gate!”

The bag the girls bought was from Amazon costing £13.99 and measures 40 x 30 x 20cm.

The allowance for a Wizz Air under seat bags is 40 x 30 x 20 cm.

In the end, the Katy and her friends were not made to pay for oversized bags as another employee spoke to them and let them through.

Other social media users also flooded to the comments, with one person stating: “Shocking airline. Flew with them once and they ripped my case and wouldn’t replace it! Overcharged us, will never use them again.”

Another person commented: “Every bag that went past was literally bigger than yours – horrible service!! Hope you girls are okay.”

A third person said: “Shocking airline we had problems with them flying back from Rome we had to pay €150 for our bags which were correct size also but unless we paid we weren’t getting on the flight.

“The whole manner and customer service was disgraceful first and last time we will ever fly with them.”

A Wizz Air spokesperson told Sun Travel: “Wizz Air apologises for the customer’s experience, which does not reflect the standards of service we expect all customers to receive.

“While the member of staff involved is employed by our contracted ground handling partner rather than directly by Wizz Air, we expect everyone representing the airline to follow our procedures correctly and treat customers with respect and professionalism.

“We take any suggestion that these standards have not been met very seriously and have raised this issue with the relevant ground handling partner to determine what happened and ensure it is addressed appropriately.”

But we can reveal Tuesday was their wedding day.

Holly Willoughby breaks down in tears and says she’ll ‘never be the same’ after terrifying murder plot

TWO years on from the terrifying ordeal which saw Holly Willoughby fearing for her life, the former This Morning presenter has said she’ll ‘never be the same’ in a teary admission.

Stalker Gavin Plumb was sentenced in July 2024 for soliciting Holly’s murder, kidnap, and the commission of rape in a horror plot.

The Security Guard was caught by an undercover police officer in a chatroom, who believed there was ‘immediate threat’ to Holly – who, thankfully, was never harmed.

In a candid new interview, Holly admits the situation has left her scarred.

“Things have changed, I’ve changed – certain things will never be the same,” she told The Times, admitting: “You can’t not change with something like that.

“And in some ways, I am stronger. And in some ways, I’m not.”

Holly then broke down into tears as she discussed the situation, stumbling on her words as she began: “I still find it hard to…”

“I can’t… I’m sorry…” she admitted.

Holly continued: “I just don’t really have the words for it. It’s hard to explain…”

She added that the horror plot made her feel “vulnerable in a way that you haven’t ever imagined feeling vulnerable. And I don’t think you’re meant to test that, that vulnerability.”

In 2024, Plumb was jailed after being convicted of soliciting murder, incitement to kidnap and incitement to rape.

He was handed three concurrent life sentences – one for each of the offences – with a minimum term of 15 years.

It was found that he hatched a sinister plan to ambush his so-called “fantasy” Holly at her home and “stupefy” her using chloroform.

The 35st security guard then wanted to tie the star up and take her to a “dungeon” where her screams would not be heard “for miles”.

His twisted plans were only foiled when he divulged all the chilling details to an undercover cop on a site called Abduct Lovers.

Holly, who worked at the helm of This Morning for 14 years, stepped down from her role on the ITV show shortly after the chilling plot was uncovered.

It came after a tumultuous few years for her, with the exit of her longtime co-host Phillip Schofield and the shocking news of his affair with a young male staffer on the show.

She has now returned to work with a brand new show, Together, which airs on YouTube.

Celebrity Hunted viewers in tears as Strictly star breaks down on show

Strictly Come Dancing pro Amy Dowden is one of the stars on the run on Celebrity Hunted

Celebrity Hunted viewers were emotional as one of the contestants broke down in tears on the show.

Strictly Come Dancing pro Amy Dowden, who is taking part in the Channel 4 programme with fellow dancer Carlos Gu, started to cry as she talked about her fears she can’t have children after cancer.

The star announced in May 2023 that she had been diagnosed with breast cancer and she went on to have a mastectomy and chemotherapy.

She opened up about her concerns during the latest instalment of the show, which sees stars on the run and trying to evade capture while being pursued by experts. She and Carlos stayed with fellow Strictly star Neil Jones and his family, including his daughter Havana. When Carlos noted how good Amy was with the three-year-old, she became tearful.

“I’ve always wanted the honour to be a mum,” she said. “And obviously I don’t know if that’s going to be possible.”

Amy, who was diagnosed with Crohn’s Disease when she was 19, went on: “A cancer diagnosis changes your life forever. I’d just got married, I had my whole life ahead of me, and all of a sudden my world fell apart in front of me.

“I’ve been given another shot at life, and I want to embrace and take every opportunity that comes my way.”

Viewers were also moved, with one posting on X: “If anyone is in doubt about why Shine & C4 make this show, watch that first part. BRB, something’s in my eye.”

Family left ‘in tears’ after being stranded at airport 150 miles from home

A FAMILY has been left distraught after they missed their flight – but it wasn’t their fault.

A father along with his family including his severely disabled teenage daughter has claimed that they were abandoned by budget airline Ryanair.

Daniel Laws, from Bournemouth commented that Ryanair told them to make their own way home after waiting in the wrong airport for hours, adding that the treatment from the airline’s staff was “abominable”.

When at Alicante Airport, the special assistance bus took the family to the wrong plane and resulted in them missing their flight back to Bournemouth.

According to the Bournemouth Echo, Daniel said: “I said to them this is the wrong plane, this is a TUI plane.”

However, by the time the family were back at the terminal, their plane had left without them.

The family was then taken to the Ryanair help desk, where they were left “sitting on the floor for two hours”.

After waiting for a few hours, the family was then told they could be rebooked onto a flight that would head to Stansted Airport.

He added: “I responded would they also be able to help us get back to Bournemouth and they seemed to laugh at that and walk away from the window.”

After landing back in London, the family headed to the Ryanair desk at the airport to seek further assistance to travel back to Bournemouth.

After an hour of waiting passed, the staff hadn’t spoke to the family and when they eventually did, they told the family that “Ryanair believe it has nothing to do with them and we must organise our own way home”.

To make matters worse, the family hadn’t eaten since breakfast.

Daniel added: “We were abandoned in Stanstead and none of us had eaten.”

The family eventually travelled home via train, but have stated that they want a refund for the flights and all expenses incurred.

He added: “It was a life changing event for them [the children]….they were so worried about my eldest.”

A Ryanair spokesperson said: “Special assistance services at Alicante Airport (and all other airports) are provided by the airport but are paid for by Ryanair.

“We regret that Alicante Airport’s special assistance provider, Alyzia, failed to bring these passengers to the aircraft prior to this flight from Alicante to Bournemouth departing on 31 July.

“Following Alyzia’s error, Ryanair reaccommodated these passengers free of charge onto the next available flight from Alicante to Stansted, which departed later that the same day.

“We are working with Alicante Airport to ensure this does not recur.”

Jersey Shore’s Snooki breaks down in tears as she reveals hysterectomy six months after cervical cancer diagnosis

Snooki, who previously admitted she was too terrified to schedule the operation, said before: “I’m so scared, I just don’t know what is going to happen.”

Surgeons went on to remove her uterus, cervix, fallopian tubes and part of her vagina to ensure all the cancerous tissue was taken away.

Her ovaries were preserved to prevent her from going through early menopause.

Snooki hopes the operation has left her cancer-free and previously said doctors believed she would not require chemotherapy or radiotherapy.

The mum-of-three also filmed herself preparing for surgery, joking: “Got the gown, got the cap. I feel like an alien serving this look.”

Speaking from her hospital bed afterwards, the MTV star admitted she was struggling with the painful recovery.

She said: “So the first couple of days is hell, and then it’s gonna get better.

“I’m trying to stay in good spirits, and the nurses and doctors and everybody was so great.”

Snooki also revealed surgeons repaired her diastasis recti, a separation of the stomach muscles which can occur during pregnancy, while carrying out the procedure.

She signed off the video by telling fans: “I love you. Thanks for being here. And get your Pap smears, okay?”

Snooki shares sons Lorenzo, 13, and Angelo, seven, and daughter Giovanna, 11, with husband Jionni LaValle.

Although she said their family was complete, the star has said that losing her ability to carry another baby had been difficult to process.

She previously said: “That’s a part of being a woman, and even though I’m done having kids, the thought of not being able to really upset me.

“It messes with you a little bit.”

Snooki revealed in February that a biopsy had confirmed she had stage-one cervical adenocarcinoma, a cancer which begins in the glandular cells of the cervical canal.

She had received abnormal smear-test results for four years but admitted putting off follow-up appointments because she found the examinations painful and frightening.

The biopsy removed the visible tumour, while subsequent scans found no evidence that the cancer had spread elsewhere in her body.

Snooki rose to fame on MTV reality hit Jersey Shore, which followed a group of young housemates spending their summers together on the New Jersey coast.

Casualty 24/7 patient, 92, breaks down in tears as she cries ‘I want this pain to go away’

Channel 5 aired a new episode of Casualty 24/7: Every Second Counts on Wednesday evening

Casualty 24/7: Every Second Counts aired emotional scenes on Wednesday’s episode.

The Channel 5 documentary series was back with a new instalment, following the work of medical emergency teams in the A&E department of Barnsley Hospital.

During the latest episode, hospital volunteer, Jane, was on the other side of the fence as she brought her 92-year-old mother Mary into A&E following a fall in her kitchen the other week.

Jane had been left concerned for her mother, explaining: “Since the fall, everything’s gone downhill a little bit”, adding that her mum hadn’t been eating or drinking as much as usual.

To which Mary, 92, insisted she lives by herself, adding: “I look after myself!” The patient continued: “I’m not senile. It’s my pain.”

It all got a bit too much for Jane seeing her mother in pain as she emotionally admitted to the camera: “It was very difficult seeing my mother in pain.

“You know, you’re used to the stiff upper lip and, come on, get on with your job. But it was very difficult seeing her in pain and knowing that there was nothing I could do about it. It’s very upsetting.”

Things then took a very emotional turn when Mary broke down in tears as the 92-year-old patient admitted: “I’m quite upset. I don’t rely on anybody, only Jane.”

Mary then emotionally added: “I want this pain to go away. This isn’t me, I’ve not wasted your time?” to which the nurse insisted: “No, not at all” as they planned to take Mary for an X-ray of her lower spine to check for no fractures.

The nurse then admitted to cameras: “I’m a bit worried that she’s got an injury to her lower back. If that’s all okay, then we can make sure her pain relief is properly sorted out so that she can sleep properly and actually recover before we get her home.”

Also on the episode, the team dealt with Enid, 71, who was rushed in for a second time after struggling to breathe.

Meanwhile, a three-year-old child was brought in after getting a conker stuck up his nose. Advanced clinical practitioner Gemma and ear nose and throat doctor Hamza Hussain were tasked with retrieving it.

She continued: “Obviously we were together for nearly two years but we also pretty much lived with each other for two years.

“And anyone that has lived with a partner will know when you live with someone it feels like you’ve been with them a lifetime.”

Saffron got teary-eyed as she confessed she was “hurting” and told fans she wouldn’t be detailing what went on between the pair.

“It’s very fresh it’s very new. I’ve cried way too much already. I really don’t want to cry again,” admitted Saffron.

“If this relationship and all my relationships have taught me anything it’s probably just that I need to really focus on self love and focus on myself and do things that are going to make me happy.”

The social media star then wiped the falling tears from her eyes as she thanked her near 2.5 million YouTube followers for their support.

She sobbed as she said she felt “really loved” amid their shock split.

Saffron ended the clip on a positive note as she plastered on a smile and admitted it was “just one of those things.”

The formerly loved-up couple featured on each other’s socials nearly everyday.

They did everything together as they embraced their new adventure over 3,000 miles away from her family and friends.

Saffron is now living the single life in New York and looks happier than ever as she picked up acting again after putting her dream on hold.

Josh has so far stayed silent amid their break up.

Commonwealth Games 2026: Adam Ramsay-Peaty in tears after bronze medal

After tears in Paris, tears again in Glasgow.

It leaves even the great Adam Ramsay-Peaty wondering how much of this is worth it.

“I work a lot harder than what it says on the scoreboard,” the Englishman said after taking 100m breaststroke bronze at the Commonwealth Games, his eyes and cheeks red with emotion.

“It hurts too much. I have got to approach training differently now because it hurts too much.”

Ramsay-Peaty has done it all in this sport.

Three Olympic gold medals. Eight world titles. The 14 fastest times in history.

But after taking a break from swimming amid a wave of mental health issues in 2023, he is still searching for that winning feeling again on the big stage.

He was pipped to Olympic gold in Paris two years ago. In Glasgow, despite coming into the final as the fastest qualifier, he had to settle for bronze.

He was beaten by Australia’s Sam Williamson but also Jersey’s history-maker Filip Nowacki, the 18-year-old he has taken under his wing.

Ramsay-Peaty was third at halfway and could not close the gap.

“It took a lot of courage to get back into the sport, so we should be happy with everything we get, but then that contradicts the athlete inside me and what I work for,” he said.

“I just think I deserve more. I know sport isn’t about what you deserve or even what you work for – it’s who gets it on the day.

“I just know I’m a better athlete than that. It’s very disappointing.”

Ramsay-Peaty has spoken about the difficult decisions that come with being an elite athlete. The time away from his son, whom he held in his arms after the Paris silver. The events at home he has to miss.

“They are not even sacrifices; they are choices,” he said.

“It’s like getting knocked out in the group stages in the World Cup for a very good team. You know you’re better and it hurts because you know you have to wait for a very long time for the next championships.

“This is probably – realistically – my last Commonwealth Games and I thought I’d trained for better. I could do better. I’ve been faster this season. That’s where the frustration is.”

Ramsay-Peaty has made no secret of the fact he is still competing in the quest for Olympic gold.

He considered retirement again after Paris, but committed to another four years when the 50m race was added to programme for Los Angeles 2028.

This 100m breaststroke is his event – the one in which he went unbeaten in eight years – but there may be a time when he has to let it go.

The 50m race – a dash down one length of the pool – would be less taxing on the body, and Ramsay-Peaty is due back in the pool for that event on Sunday morning.

“Is the 100 even viable any more? I don’t know,” he said.

“When it hurts like this, the 50 is probably my super strength with my power.

“With the Olympics, that’s probably going to be more realistic, but it’s too early to tell.

“I just feel like I couldn’t have given more this cycle. If I had given less, would it have even equalled more?”

Given the emotion, there are times you wonder how close Ramsay-Peaty is to walking away entirely.

He appeared to walk to the edge but always turned back, insisting the drive for LA remains.

“Of course,” he said.

“I know I’m a sprinter. I know I can do very well because I’ve done it. It doesn’t disappear overnight.

“It requires me to look at the formula and see how I can get to that speed again.”

“And my mum is a really, really devout Christian and she says ‘Well, he’s going to Jesus and that’s where we all go.’

“Frances is like ‘Okay, how old is he?’ He’s 86, ’87?’ And we’re like ‘No, he is not going to be 87’ and she thinks about it and she’s like ‘Okay’.

“She’s just been so tender with him, it’s been beautiful to watch, I’ve talked about her accepting grief before and coming to terms with things.”

“And then there was this really lovely moment when she was leaving the other day, and it was when he was on the cusp of consciousness and she was going ‘Say my name, say my name!’ And he actually said the word Frances.”

An emotional Zoe simply replied: “Oh wow.”

Holding the tears in, Jo continued: “It was lovely. It was really good.”

“It couldn’t have been better.’

Arh Jo, woke up to see the news that your dad had died and then watched this episode. So sorry lovely, such a hard time for you all. Big love and hugs,” a third said.

A fourth added: “Thinking of you and your family Jo. A difficult time. Thank you for sharing.”

On Thursday Jo took to Instagram to share a slew of sweet snaps and short clips of her dad.

In the carousel of memories, Jo could be seen cuddling her dad in one heartwarming photo.

Other snaps showed him at family parties enjoying himself, while one throwback pic also saw the star when she was younger with her father.

Jo then penned an emotional tribute, which started with: “My lovely Dad died today.

“He was the kindest man, who lived solely to make others happy. He was supremely selfless and loved nothing more than caring for others and making people laugh.”

Jo talked about the “challenges” Martin faced in his own childhood, before meeting her mum and “finally knowing what love is”.

She also thanked her dad for giving her, her “love of music”.

Jo ended the sweet tribute with: “We’re going to miss you so very much. You absolute legend.”

The Repair Shops guests battle tears over ‘astonishing’ fix after childhood ‘trauma’

Two siblings went on the BBC show in the hope of recovering never before seen home movies

A brother and sister battled tears as they said an emotional fix on The Repair Shop had given them “peace” after the family experienced a trauma.

Siblings Zaff and Nasari went on the BBC show with a broken projector that had been used to film home movies they’d never been able to see.

Their dad had recorded footage of them as children with their relatives during their childhood in Uganda, but after they were forced to flee the country in the 1970s under Idi Amin’s rule, it was packed up and not touched.

Both of their parents had since died, and Zaff and Nasari told experts Dominic Chinea and Mark Stuckey that they hoped fixing the projector would mean they would get to see them “walking around” again.

Discussing their childhood, Zaff said: “It was, yeah, very, very fun times, but the trauma that came after, with leaving Africa. Dictatorship. Idi Amin. We had 90 days to leave the country, and we weren’t allowed to take anything with us.”

The show explained that after staging a coup in 1971, military dictator Amin seized control of Uganda in East Africa. Accusing the country’s Asians of exploiting the economy, he ordered the expulsion of their entire population, forcing over 70,000 people to flee.

The family ended up leaving and starting “from scratch”, building a new life in the UK.

The siblings’ mum died at 45 and their dad died soon afterwards aged 50. The projector was “locked away” for 40 or 50 years, with the pair trying to fix it a few times but having no luck.

When they left the barn, Mark set about restoring the precious heirloom and was thrilled to get it working. Recovered footage showed Zaff and Nasari playing in Uganda as children, while their grandfather were also seen.

Both looked tearful as they viewed the films, with Zaff saying it was “astonishing” and Nasari saying: “I just feel my dad touching it. I feel like he’s here and he’s putting it on.”

“It brought me peace, seeing my mum and dad and how we were, and my grandfather, how much time we spent together,” she said, with tears in her eyes. “It’s my dad. Everything about it is my dad.”

She went on: “After them passing away, it’s been that long, you forget who they were and how they looked, and the feeling came back again. It made me feel at peace.”

The Repair Shop airs on BBC One.

BBC Wimbedon viewers in tears over champion’s speech that made tennis legend cry

Linda Noskova won the Wimbledon women’s singles title on Saturday afternoon

Wimbledon champion Linda Noskova moved BBC viewers to tears during her speech following her triumph in the ladies’ singles final on Saturday afternoon.

It was an all-Czech showdown on Centre Court, with Noskova facing off against compatriot Karolina Muchova. Noskova proved too strong for Muchova, claiming her maiden Grand Slam title with a 6-2, 7-5, 6-3 victory over the world No. 9.

There was an extra layer of emotion surrounding Noskova’s success though, given her mother died on the eve of the 2024 Championships when she was just 19.

Noskova referenced the devastating loss during her acceptance speech, saying: “There’s also one more person I would like to thank, which is my mum. I would definitely would not be standing here without her so thank you. Guys, I don’t cry normally so this is not okay for me. I have been enjoying these two weeks so much, all the sad tears, the happy tears, the sweat and blood going into this.

“It was all worth it, so I will definitely never forget these two weeks and one more thing, I want to thank all the fans. You guys made this final like nothing I have ever experienced before so I can not wait to come back next year,” reports the Express.

As she honoured her late mother, cameras captured Navratilova – a nine-time Wimbledon champion – weeping in the stands.

Responding to the emotional speech, commentator Sam Smith remarked: “For Noskova to come here, a little over two years since she lost her mother to cancer right before Wimbledon 2024 and lift the title at 21 in such a rollercoaster of a final shows you she really is a true champion.”

During her address, Noskova added: “I don’t know how to hold it [the trophy], that’s the first thing. It feels incredible, today and all these matches have been so tough, physically and mentally. Today, especially, it’s never easy to get the last point. Karol, you really made me work for it.

“I will not forgive you this one, like you said we are friends. I am so glad that I could play my first Grand Slam final with you. I think we made history today. I believe all our Czech fans at home are proud of us today so no matter the result today I think it was a good day for both of us.”

She went on to say: “I want to congratulate your team, you especially have been such a fighter and you guys, a good two weeks for you and a great season as well so congratulations. I want to thank my team, I want to thank my Dad for coming here, for my family members flying here, I know you don’t like flying so I appreciate it.

“I want to thank all my friends, supporters, sponsors, agents and my whole team. I want to thank Agatha, the best atmosphere manager I could wish for and my coach for being with me which is not easy all the time. We have been together for six years now, I think, and I am so grateful for you. I would not be here without you.”

Content cannot be displayed without consent

Viewers at home also crumbled to tears, as one X user posted: “I started out saying the final is boring, and ended up sobbing crying at Linda thanking her mom who passed away and seeing Muchova cry… that was actually a rollercoaster of emotions, tennis is beautiful.”

Someone else chimed in: “Linda Novoska got me ugly crying out here this morning. What a moving winner speech. That shoutout to her mom. Just wow!!!”

While others gathered to comment words of support under a BBC clip of the powerful moment. Someone said: “So sad, our thoughts are with her.”

The 2026 Wimbledon matches are available to stream on BBC iPlayer.

Taking to social media, she told her 10million followers that she is utterly heartbroken over having to put the twins into thick spinal jackets and splints in this heat.

Pop star Jesy shared a glimpse of the girls laying down in their rockers wearing their supports.

She penned over the clip: “I’ve cried all day. Imagine having to wear a spinal jacket and splints in this heat.

“I cannot even begin to tell you how much this breaks my heart into a million pieces. But, if I don’t put them on every day, their spines and feet will only deteriorate and get worse.”

“These will never correct their spine or feet, it will only prevent it from getting any worse,” continued Jesy.

“Once again no future SMA babies need to suffer like this if they are given the heel prick test and treatment from birth!”

Despite the temperatures soaring above 30 degrees this week, the girls looked content waving their little hands around and taking in their living room.

Dani Dyer wrote in the comments: “Oh Jesy. You are doing amazing,” followed by two red heart emojis.

Billie Shepherd said: “Sending you all so much love. Super mumma, you are amazing.”

“They will still face every obstacle with the biggest smile. They have the best mummy ever and that’s all they need,” one fan penned.

The former Little Mix star’s baby girls – Story Monroe and Ocean Jade – are both battling Spinal Muscular Atrophy (SMA) Type 1 – the most severe form of a rare disease affecting muscle strength and movement.

Both Jesy and her ex-fiancé Zion Foster were told their twins were unlikely to ever walk, and may face serious breathing and swallowing difficulties.

Despite the slim odds, she shared a sweet picture of one of their daughters sitting up in a chair all by herself.

Since Jesy’s babies were diagnosed with SMA she has been tirelessly campaigning to make it mandatory for all newborns to receive a heel-prick to determine whether or not they have the disease.

If SMA is caught early the condition is usually treatable but when left undiagnosed it can be life-threatening and cause death within two years.

A fan told Jesy of her work in her comments: “Want to thank you – just had a baby in Scotland and got the SMA heel prick test as standard. Midwives personally named you and the work you’ve done as to why it’s now offered.”

World Cup 2026: Lionel Messi’s tears of relief after Argentina comeback

Would Messi have been lost to the World Cup forever had Argentina lost?

He would be 43 – the oldest outfield player to play at a World Cup – if he carried on to the next, though the lure of games being played in his home country may have sustained him.

Instead, Messi can look forward to a quarter-final here against either Switzerland or Colombia.

Former England goalkeeper Paul Robinson, watching in Atlanta for BBC Radio 5 Live, said: “That was incredible. Spectacular. Argentina were down and out. They were out of the tournament at one point.

“Egypt are so frustrated with the refereeing decisions that have gone against them. They had a second goal disallowed before they got their second goal for an infringement that was almost on their own touchline.

“Then Lionel Messi just stepped in and took over. Beautiful assist, great finish for his goal, and then the substitutions worked for Argentina.”

Argentina’s recovery, and this was not simply the Messi show it should be said, also had implications for England who, when Egypt led, might just have believed it was a ‘now or never’ moment for reaching their first men’s World Cup final since 1966.

England’s path to the final was shaping up as Norway in the quarter-finals, then Egypt, Switzerland or Colombia in the last four if they got through.

Instead, there remains the shadow of Messi and Argentina as the potential obstacle should they overcome the dangerous Norwegians.

And Messi, even in advancing years, casts a giant shadow over any opponents, as Egypt found to their cost.

Messi became the first player in World Cup history to score in six consecutive knockout-phase games and now has eight goals in this one. It is the most by a player in the opening five games since West Germany’s Gerd Muller scored 10 in Mexico in 1970.

He has also contributed to 16 goals in his past nine World Cup games, with 13 goals and three assists.

England’s concern will be he still has the power to add more. And looks in the mood to do so.

She said: “I’ve made some videos from hospital and after my op, and I think I’m ready to share them.

“5 and a 1/2 hours in surgery. Mr Raafat has been amazing. He is the first surgeon who has ever made me feel truly heard and understood, and I’ve been through a fair few. Around 10, I think. He understood how draining, exhausting and painful this has all been, and he’s confident this should improve my quality of life. I am so grateful for that.

“Hopefully this is the last big recovery. Hopefully this is the start of life without that pain.”

Katie continued to share how she’s still in immense pain as she’s recovering from the operation, and it’s difficult to go through even though it’s temporary.

She explained: “I know this pain is short-lived. I know the scars, the stitches, the bleeding, the gas pain, the swelling, the injections, the cannulas, the bruises and all the awful hospital bits are temporary.

“But temporary doesn’t mean easy. It is brutal. My body feels completely battered.”

Katie finished the post off by sharing just how much endometriosis has impacted her life and how as much as she feels grateful now to go forward with less pain in the future, she still feels ‘heartbroken’.

Katie concluded: “Endometriosis and adenomyosis have taken so much from me. They’ve taken years. They’ve taken energy. They’ve taken confidence. They’ve taken plans. They’ve taken parts of my body. They’ve taken versions of me I’ll never get back.

“I wish I could go back and tell younger me she wasn’t weak. She wasn’t making it up. She deserved better. So yes, I’m relieved and grateful. I really am. But I’m also heartbroken.”

Fans reading the emotional caption left their well wishes in the post’s comments section, with one user saying: “You are so incredibly strong, please remember that. Sending so much love.”

A second shared: “Sorry you have been through all of this. I wish you a speedy recovery.”

A third added: “Much love to you and your family.”

Katie is the wife of TV presenter Nick, who has hosted shows including Who Dares Wins, DIY SOS and Break The Safe.

The health update comes two months after Katie opened up about her father sexually assaulting her for “years” as she grew up.

Signs you could have endometriosis

Endometriosis is where cells similar to those in the lining of the womb (uterus) grow in other parts of the body.

Symptoms happen when patches of endometriosis break down and bleed during your period but cannot leave your body.

You might have some symptoms during your period, such as:

  • Severe period pain, that stops you from doing your normal activities
  • Heavy periods, where you need to change your pads or tampons every one to two hours, or you may bleed through to your clothes.
  • Pain when you poo or pee

You can have other symptoms at any time in your menstrual cycle, such as:

  • Pain in your lower tummy and back (pelvic area)
  • Pain during or after sex
  • Extreme tiredness (fatigue)
  • Pain or bleeding in other areas, such as in the chest, which may cause shortness of breath and coughing up blood

You may also have difficulty getting pregnant and have low mood or anxiety.
