Divine Lunga: Zimbabwean football star survives South Africa gun attack

Zimbabwean footballer Divine Lunga has survived a gun attack in Johannesburg, South African police have said.

The football star, 31, was driving in the inner city suburb of Hillbrow on Sunday when his car was shot at by an unknown gunman, according to local reports.

Lunga, who plays for both Zimbabwe’s national football team and top South African club Mamelodi Sundowns, escaped unharmed.

Crime is a major problem in South Africa and the country has one of the highest murder rates in the world.

Police spokesperson Captain Tintswalo Sibeko said they were investigating a case of attempted murder but that no arrests had been made.

She did not provide further details, but South African publication The Citizen said that Lunga was on his way to church with his younger brother when they came under attack.

The duo were driving through Hillbrow when the suspect opened fire on their car, apparently mistaking him for an undercover police officer.

Scissor Sisters joined on stage by HUGE Brit pop star with ‘killer’ voice as they support Duran Duran at BST Hyde Park

SCISSOR SISTERS added some Spice to their set supporting Duran Duran – by inviting Melanie C to join them on stage.

Gushing over landing Sporty Spice as a special guest at the BST Hyde Park Festival on Sunday, frontman Jake Shears said: “We love Melanie C, she’s always been the loveliest person.

“She loves what she does, she’s a killer singer, so we’re so happy she could join us.

“We’re all big show ponies!

“We’ve had a blast.”

Jake told the audience he still can’t believe the group are still going strong and selling out arenas this far into their career, adding: “It’s been 25 years for us this year, and we’ve gone from literally singing along to CDs to being a fully fledged band in that time.

“Showmanship takes a long time to learn, as does enjoying yourself on stage.

“Our favourite moments on stage are when we achieve a sense of, ‘What the hell is going on here?’”

Reflecting on their sometimes chaotic live shows, Jake spoke of a particularly memorable performance with the late Dead or Alive singer Pete Burns.

He recalled: “One of our best collaborations has to be in the early days with Pete.

“He was such a special, special human being.

“He was a fierce, amazing character – in stilettos – and we like that, we like a little bit of chaos.

“That show was dangerous, scary, and fun.

“We look back at those times and feel like that was another era, those are people that are gone now.

“It’s very special to know we could do that with someone we looked up to before even becoming a band.”

CAUGHT LIVE: LONDON ROCKED BY METALLICA

Metallica are still at the top of their game Credit: Getty

FOR a band 45 years into their career, Metallica were still full of life as they tore through the final night of their three-year M72 World Tour.

The rockers turned London Stadium into a theatre on Sunday with an in-the-round stage in the centre of the venue as part of their “no repeats” weekend.

They also played there on Friday night but vowed there would be an entirely different setlist.

That meant they didn’t play many of their hits, but still had plenty of material to keep going for over two hours.

The gig fell on the one-year anniversary of the Back To The Beginning concert at Birmingham’s Villa Park, which the band performed at and where Black Sabbath frontman Ozzy Osbourne played for the final time.

Honouring the late rocker as his widow Sharon watched on from the crowd, they covered the Sabbath epic, Electric Funeral.

Ending on their biggest UK hit Enter Sandman, it was clear Metallica are still at the top of their game.

NICK: I ALMOST BECAME MONSTER

NICK JONAS almost went by a pseudonym when he launched his solo career and planned to release music under the odd moniker, Monster.

The Jonas Brothers star admitted he felt wounded when the group first split in 2013 amid declining record sales, and he was anxious about putting music out under his own name.

Recalling a conversation with David Massey, former boss of Island Records, Nick explained: “I was, at this point, so discouraged by all the things that were happening, the fact that music wasn’t really connecting with the brothers.

“Obviously the band broke up. I disguised my insecurity and vulnerability. I was, like, ‘I just want to go under a pseudonym and not be that guy any more and try to do something different’.

“And David was, like, ‘But don’t you want to be the biggest artist in the world?’”

Recalling the strange names he came up with, Nick, inset – who later had solo success with the hits Jealous and Close – added on the Unfamous with Justin Tranter podcast: “I tried to think of something, but every time I had something that felt maybe close to right, I was, like, this is so dumb.

“I was, like, what am I doing? I think one was Monster or something.”

Thanks a bunch, Sara

SARA COX kicked off her tenure as the host of the Radio 2 breakfast show by blasting out Lizzo‘s About Damn Time just after 6.30am.

Full of beans, she was congratulated on air over her new job by Hollywood star Tom Hanks, before leaving the studio with flowers just after 10am.

It sounds like Sara’s taking it old school with a new feature called SurpRise And Shine, where she will phone up listeners who have to answer with a specific phrase to win a special prize – either orange socks with her face on or a Sara-branded toothbrush.

One person who definitely wasn’t listening to Sara’s debut though was sacked host Scott Mills.

His husband Sam Vaughan posted a rare story on Instagram which showed he had snubbed the show and was tuning in to Heart Radio instead.

Can’t say that I blame him . . .

HIS England teammates got us hot and bothered with that thrilling victory over Mexico at the World Cup.

But Cole Palmer – who was not picked for the Three Lions squad – kept fans nice and cool back home.

The Chelsea ace’s ice brand, Cole’d by Cole Palmer, in partnership with GoPuff, was a huge hit on TikTok ahead of the match on Sunday with site visits up over 200 per cent as fans stocked up on cubes to cool down drinks.

Fans have jumped on the trend with one writing: “Other players melt under pressure. Cole Palmer just brings his own Cole’d ice.”

A spokesperson added: “Demand for Cole’d Ice has continued to grow and we expect another busy evening on Saturday for the Norway game.”

Hot Tyla, so cool

IF this heatwave carries on, I might have to start dressing like TYLA just to stay cool.

The South African singer took to the stage at Afro Nation festival in Portugal at the weekend wearing this miniscule white top and the tiniest of black miniskirts.

She is gearing up to release her second studio album A*Pop on July 24, which includes her recent singles Chanel and She Did It Again featuring Zara Larsson.

I’ve got a sneaking suspicion we can expect a tour announcement in the not-so-distant future, too.

Tyla was forced to cancel her first headline tour in 2024 due to injury, but she was back on stage last year and is earning rave reviews for her festival sets.

I’m keeping my fingers crossed it isn’t long until she’s back here in the UK.

Writing on Instagram after the concert – where fellow singer Kylie Minogue and actress Rosamund Pike were spotted in the audience – Shania said: “Thank you again @harrystyles for the memories. You have the greatest fans! Leaving London with an overflowing cup – happy and grateful.”

Forgotten Blue Peter and kids’ TV star now after unusual career move

The Blue Peter presenter was a familiar face on our TV screens in the 90s and early 2000s

A Blue Peter icon has carved out an entirely new career path away from kids’ TV.

Katy Hill shot to fame in the late 90s across some of the biggest TV and radio programmes around.

She fronted much-loved children’s show CBBC Blue Peter from 1995 to 2000 and spent five years taking on incredible stunts, including flying with the RAF’s Red Arrows team, a feat no civilian had achieved before.

Riding high on her success and widespread popularity, she moved across to BBC One’s Live and Kicking until 2001. The star then presented Top of the Pops, Football Fever, BBC’s Holiday and her very own weekend show on Capital FM.

Katy was also a regular contributor to glossy publications such as Cosmopolitan Hair and Beauty, Hello! and Closer.

In 2004, she claimed second place on Channel 4’s The Games. As her career progressed, she hosted programmes for Heart Radio, penned weekly blogs and stepped in as a stand-in presenter on ITV’s Daybreak.

During an appearance on Good Morning Britain last year, Katy shared her lifelong passion for presenting, saying: “I wanted to present that show since I was five.

“It was because this was the ’70s, right, you guys know this? There had been no girl power. That was the place I saw girls jumping out of planes, flying fast jets and fast cars. Generally, it’s pretty cool. I was like: ‘That’s the job for me!'”

However, nowadays, Katy, 55, is far less visible on our television screens, having transitioned into life coaching after establishing her own business.

Describing herself as an ‘Internationally Certified Success and Confidence Coach’, she regularly shares motivational content across social media. Katy also runs her own newsletter, The Limitless List, which delivers inspiring quotes and uplifting messages.

Alongside her television work, she now provides programmes, live groups and one-to-one coaching sessions to support her members.

Katy’s Instagram bio reads: “The shy kid who refused to play small and spent 30 years on TV! Now empowering women like YOU to UNLOCK your CONFIDENCE and CLAIM the SUCCESS you deserve!”

Katy is happily married to Trey Farley, her former co-presenter on Live and Kicking. The couple have been blissfully married for over two decades and share two children, daughter Kaya and son Akira.

In July 2023, Katy and Trey celebrated their 20th wedding anniversary, with the former television presenter sharing a touching tribute to her husband on social media.

She posted photographs from their wedding day and wrote: “20 Years of US! 20 Years of Mr and Mrs Farley! What a ride we’re on @rocaflix … nobody else I’d rather be doing LIFE with! Happy 20 babe! Let’s make more amazing memories! X (Ours was the Hans Zimmer version – obvs!)”

Prior to marrying Trey, Katy was previously wed to her childhood sweetheart, Andrew Frampton. They tied the knot in 1999 but separated in 2001.

‘Seductive’ Netflix drama based on bestseller to star James Bond hopeful

Call Me by Your Name fans need to watch this “sexy” upcoming Netflix drama.

A “magnificent and sexy” Netflix drama is poised to star two Hollywood icons.

Book and film fans were captivated by Andre Aciman’s Call Me By Your Name, and now another of his bestselling novels is being transformed for television.

Aciman’s 2017 work Enigma Variations centres on “Paul, a man remade by the lovers who ignite and undo him across six transformative years”.

Netflix further describes it as an “intimate yet sweeping portrait of masculinity, sexuality and modern love.

“And in a world of endless choices, it asks the question: will we know when we’ve found the one?”

Taking the lead role as Paul is none other than Aaron Taylor-Johnson, renowned for 28 Years Later, Kicka**, Nosferatu and Nocturnal Animals.

Taylor-Johnson has also remained consistently amongst the bookmakers’ top picks to be cast as the next James Bond, alongside other contenders such as Callum Turner and Jacob Elordi.

He’ll be appearing opposite Alicia Vikander, celebrated for The Danish Girl and Tomb Raider, who plays Claire, one of Paul’s principal love interests throughout this period.

An official launch date hasn’t been revealed yet, but the Netflix adaptation is anticipated to mirror the books by being set across multiple locations including Italy, New York and New England.

Enigma Variations was hailed as a “magnificent living thing” by The New York Times Book Review, which added that “Aciman writes arousal so beautifully”.

The book has also garnered enormous praise from readers, with one commenting on Good Reads: “This book is staggeringly beautiful. Powerfully emotional, haunting, frank in its sexuality and its romanticism, this is a book about love, infatuation, longing, and lust.”

Another agreed that the “book blew me away”, while a third added: “Evocative, poetic and hopelessly romantic, Andre Aciman has written a cerebral narrative of love undefined.”

Netflix star welcomes twins with TV hunk husband and shares first snaps of ‘rainbow babies’

The couple are already parents to daughter River Rose, who was born two months before they got married in April 2024.

Nick gained fame through his appearances on The Bachelorette and as The Bachelor himself, with him meeting his wife through Instagram years later.

The happy news comes after Nick revealed that Natalie suffered a third devastating miscarriage last year on his podcast, The Viall Files.

Natalie was absent from the episode, usually featuring alongside her husband during recording.

Nick addressed Natalie’s unusual absence, saying: “As you can see, Natalie is not with us.

“There’s no really easy way to talk about this…”

He then got candid with his listeners as he revealed the heartbreaking news.

“Sadly, Natalie experienced another miscarriage. It is her third this year, our third this year…

“There’s no really good way to say it, it f**king sucks.

“She’s obviously at home resting, healing, both physically and emotionally.”

Natalie first suffered a miscarriage in January 2025, before enduring a second pregnancy loss just two months later.

Nick explained to his listeners: “When it happens the first time, the doctors and everyone kind of acknowledge that, while terrible, this is that something that can happen.

“And everyone’s just… don’t freak out, there’s nothing wrong, it sadly can be a part of this process.”

Nick went on: “And then it happened the second time, you know, obviously we have a lot of amazing blessings in our life, first and foremost being River, minus like some morning sickness and things like that, we were very lucky to have a fairly easy pregnancy…

“Really no complications, which was such an amazing blessing.

“Despite what’s going on right now with us, our doctor keeps reminding us that that is the best sign of our future ability to grow our family.

“But right now obviously there’s a little bit of uneasiness. It’s far less normal to have two and three back to back.

“Now we’re kind of in that very scary process of running tests and finding out more about ourselves, and it’s like this weird thing of like you want them to find something, but you don’t want them to find something.

“Because if they find something, you don’t know what that means. We’re in this kind of very uncharted territory of fact finding. Which sucks.”

Nick also said: “I really just wanted to be transparent with you guys ’cause I know she wasn’t there yesterday, people started to notice, and we’re already getting messages with like a lot of concern.

“So overall, Natalie is doing OK physically and healing and she’s OK in that respect and emotionally, we’re currently dealing with that.”

EastEnders signs Casualty star Jason Durr for Linda Carter love storyline

EastEnders is set to welcome a new face to Walford later this summer as Casualty’s Jason Durr makes an appearance and is set to strike up a close bond with Linda Carter

EastEnders is set to welcome a Casualty legend in the coming weeks. Actor Jason Durr, who starred in the BBC medical drama as David Hide, will be making his first appearance in Walford later this summer.

But his arrival in Albert Square will see him cross paths with local businesswoman Linda Carter [Kellie Bright], and it’s fair to say that the pair will see sparks between them both. Durr is taking on the role of Clive, a local councillor, when things start to heat up in the Square.

Local residents will be joining forces to save the Community Centre, Walford’s hub, which is at risk of redevelopment. Linda, who’s known for not shying away from airing her thoughts, leads the charge as things start to heat up.

But while planning to save the Community Centre, she and Clive strike up an instant friendship as he backs the campaign. But both Linda and Clive soon realise that there is more than just a feeling of friendship between them both.

Speaking about joining EastEnders, Jason said: “Few shows command their place in the national conversation quite like EastEnders, so I’m delighted to be joining the cast as Clive Masters.

“Working with the wonderful Kellie Bright has been an absolute joy and pleasure from day one. All the cast, crew and production staff have been incredibly generous, welcoming and good humoured. I’m excited for audiences to meet Clive and see what’s in store.”

And it’s set to be an exciting time for Linda, who has endured her fair share of heartache in recent years. Her soulmate and husband, Mick Carter (Danny Dyer), died after Janine Butcher’s (Charlie Brooks) secrets were unravelled, resulting in a feud on the coast. She also battled alcoholism and murdered Keanu Taylor (Danny Walters), following a fight at the Queen Vic as she attempted to save her best friend, Sharon (Letitia Dean).

The Mirror understands that Jason has already started filming his scenes, which will air later this summer. His role comes three years after Jason walked away from Casualty, having left Holby City three years prior.

His character, David, left Wyvern’s emergency department after the death of his colleague, Robyn (Amanda Henderson). At the time, Jason said he was planning to spend more time with his family, as well as explore other opportunities in the industry. His role was open for a possible return in the future.

Confirming his exit on social media, he shared a snap of himself, alongside the caption: “After 6 yrs playing the wonderfully complex #NurseDavidHide @bbccasualtyofficial I’ve hung up my scrubs.

“I’ve forged firm friendships, learnt to pronounce Uvulopalatopharyngoplasty & had my squeamishness thoroughly challenged! Here’s to new adventures (hopefully with less blood & guts).”

Over the course of his time on the show, Jason’s character David was at the centre of a string of huge storylines. One included the death of his teen son, Ollie, who, with a friend, Rob, set out to carry out a mass shooting at their school.

He’s also appeared in the likes of Lewis, Midsomer Murders, Above Suspicion and Shakespeare & Hathaway.

Death in Paradise star Ralf Little’s life from tragic death to university drop out

Ralf Little is best known for his roles in Death in Paradise, The Royle Family and Two Pints of Lager and a Packet of Crisps.

Ralf Little became a household name back in 1998 when he joined the beloved BBC sitcom The Royle Family.

Since then, he’s gone on to feature in Two Pints of Lager and a Packet of Crisps and Death in Paradise, which he departed in 2024.

Although he’s featured in a plethora of other shows, including his popular series with friend and former co-star Will Mellor.

This weekend, however, he’s back on our screens as he’s due to appear on Sunday Brunch alongside Tim Lovejoy and Simon Rimmer.

Having been firmly in the public eye since the age of 17, we take a closer look at the star’s life away from the cameras.

Childhood tragedy

The BBC actor suffered a devastating personal loss as a youngster when his elder sister Ceri passed away while he was just nine years old. At only 14, Ceri tragically lost her life after falling from a 150-foot clifftop during a family holiday in Cornwall.

Opening up about his late sister on his programme with Will Mellor, Ralf was visibly moved as he touched upon his own decision not to have children, reports the Express.

He said: “My parents were fantastic with us and did the best that they could. But their relationship broke down really in a really difficult way and that was very difficult for us.

“You know, there’s no way of putting this that’s not blunt, but, you know, they had three kids and an idyllic family life and then one of the kids was alive one week and dead the next.

“Everything, their entire lives, crumbled right in front of their eyes from that moment on. It’s like, you know, you can’t protect them. My mum was really… my mum was really protective of us. Really protective.

“And it happened anyway. It happened anyway because you can’t wrap your kids in cotton wool and protect them 24-7. Like, it’s a lot. And it’s only when I’m forced to sort of say these things out loud that I realise quite what a lot it is.”

Ralf has also opened up about how the loss of his sister drove him to pursue greatness and push himself to be the very best he could be.

Death in Paradise exit

Ralf became a firm fan-favourite on the long-running BBC crime drama after joining the cast as DI Neville Parker in 2020. He confirmed his departure four years later, with Don Gilbet stepping in as DI Mervin Wilson.

The actor chose to leave the show after both he and the producers felt his character had naturally run its course. At the time, he announced: “My time on Saint Marie has come to an end – what an end! New adventures await Neville, and he got to sail away into the sunset with his best friend. Who knows what happens for them next!”

However, his mother feared his departure would spell the end of his acting career, as he revealed to The I last year: “About six months ago, I went to visit her. My mum’s done this my whole career – she’s always worried about me.

“She went: ‘So, I’ve been thinking, now that your career’s over, you could go back to medical school this September and qualify in five years, and the good news is you could still work till you’re 75.”

Medical dreams

Best known for his roles in Death in Paradise, The Royle Family and Two Pints of Lager and a Packet of Crisps, Ralf could easily have ended up on a very different path in life.

Prior to launching his acting career, Ralf had ambitions of becoming a doctor, studying at the University of Manchester Medical School. He ultimately dropped out, however, when he landed the role of Anthony Royle, choosing to pursue acting full-time instead.

It seems a talent for medicine runs in the family, as Ralf’s brother is a doctor and his sister works as a nurse. When quizzed about whether he ever wonders what might have happened had he stuck with his medical studies, he told The Telegraph in 2021: “Yes. Being a doctor is a calling. I was serious about it. Acting was just a fun hobby.

“I look at NHS workers now, and they’re unbelievably heroic, but I guess I’m lucky not to have to deal with the s**t that’s thrown at them.”

Medicine wasn’t the only alternative career Ralf could have pursued, either. He was once a semi-professional footballer, having turned out for semi-pro side Maidstone United in the early 2000s.

Celebrity Gogglebox star walks off after creepy horror clip ‘I need a break’

One of the Celebrity Gogglebox stars had to take a minute after watching a terrifying scene

A Celebrity Gogglebox star walked off camera after viewing a creepy horror film that left everyone squealing.

The instalment of the Channel 4 show that aired on Friday (July 3) saw the celebrity armchair critics watching a range of programmes, from Countdown to Clarkson’s Farm. But many looked horrified as they tuned into horror film, Weapons.

The film is about 17 children from the same classroom who mysteriously disappear on the same night at the same time, and Jordan Banjo had to leave the sofa for a breather after watching scenes from the movie with fellow Diversity star Perri Kiely.

Many of the stars on the celebrity edition of the programme were seen looked terrified as they watched a scene where a creepy character called Aunt Gladys (played by Amy Madigan) visited a house and asked for a bowl instead of a glass of water.

Things took a nasty turn when she took a wooden stick she had been fiddling with and dragged it across her hand, cutting it open, which left Jordan gasping.

He held a cushion up to block the screen as a man in the film was then seen opening his mouth and vomiting streams of back liquid.

“I need a break, I need a break,” Jordan said, as Perri exclaimed: “No!”

But the dancer then stood up and moved away from the chair, explaining: “I need a drink. Do you want anything?”

However, he soon rushed back, explaining to Perri that he when he had got to the kitchen he had spotted a bowel of water on the side and it had given him a fright. “No!” he said, sitting back down without having poured the drinks.

Fans were tickled by the scenes, with one posting on X: “So funny.”

Someone else posted on the platform, which was formerly Twitter: “Who doesn’t just love a bit of Celebrity Gogglebox. Always such an entertaining way to spend the time.” “The perfect switch your brain off TV this time of night needs,” they added.

Someone else said that it was “brilliant stuff”.

Another viewer said the series was “top notch”.

Celebrity Gogglebox airs on Channel 4.

Her hairstylist divulged: “We were in Ibiza and the bar was closing and we were walking back to the hotel, but we took our glasses and then the Spanish lady, she was chasing us down the road.”

Maya added: “So we came and gave them back! Otherwise we would get arrested!”

The hairdresser expressed: “We’d get arrested in Ibiza and that’s not what we want.”

Maya told the camera: “They weren’t even proper glass cups, they were plastic.”

He continued: “We couldn’t take them and we didn’t know that at the time and then she was chasing us down the road.”

“It was quite funny but I’m glad we snapped out of it or else we would have got arrested for stealing plastic cups,” The Masked Singer star said.

“It wouldn’t even be worth it, we weren’t even doing anything cool.”

Her revelation comes after she headed into the Love Island villa to host the Casa Amor recoupling.

She turned heads in an incredible plunging black dress as she entered the villa for a second time this week.

Maya left fans applauding as she sided with a heartbroken Jasmine when Kavan came back to the villa with Charleen on his arm.

When Jasmine saw Kavan, who she was in a couple with, walk back into the main villa with the stunning Irish influencer – she was left taken aback and quite frankly, fuming.

After she processed the information, Jasmine asked Kavan if he had slept in bed with girls during Casa.

She also asked him if he’d kissed any girls outside of challenges.

His brother Aidan was quick to butt in, saying how he thinks this is a conversation for them to have in private.

“I’m allowed to speak to him. That’s who I was in a couple with,” Jasmine snapped at Aidan.

“Yeah, Aidan, let them two speak,” Maya then added in a stern voice.

Reacting to Maya’s hilarious snap back at Aidan, one person penned: “The fact even Maya’s sick of Aidan acting like the spokesperson.”

“Maya Jama is so real telling Aidan to let Jasmine and her couple speak. That’s a REAL ASS HOST,” said a second.

Carry On star Leslie Phillips’ family in High Court battle over £4.4m mansion as third wife refuses to move out

CARRY On actor Leslie Phillips’ family is set for a High Court ding-dong over his will, The Sun can reveal.

The late star‘s estate is suing his wife, Zara, at the High Court, after she refused to move out of their £4.4million marital home.

The long-running spat is said to have strained the relationship between Zara, 68, and Harry Potter actor Leslie’s children, who say they are entitled to the proceeds of the Edwardian mansion’s sale.

Leslie, who died in November 2022 at age 98 after an eight-decade showbiz career, left his family a huge £5.3million fortune and dictated exactly how his belongings should be shared.

He gave his OBE and CBE medals to his grandchildren and a Buddha statue to his third wife, Zara Phillips.

But the actor, known for his “Ding Dong,” “Well, Hello” and “I Say” trademark lines, also stipulated his posh West London house should be sold exactly two years and nine months after his death.

But Zara has repeatedly insisted Leslie, whom she wed in 2013, had promised she could stay there for the rest of her life.

She even claims his will was changed without her knowledge to force the sale of the property and hand more cash to his kids.

At the four-storey Edwardian house, filled with pictures of Leslie, Zara previously told The Sun: “This is my marital home.

“I want to live here for the rest of my life, not to move out.

“Leslie always promised me I could stay here.

The will, seen by The Sun, says the £4.4million house is to be sold two years and nine months after his death, with the proceeds going into a trust.

It means the deadline for the sale passed in August 2025, but Turkish social worker Zara has not moved and is determined to stay put.

The sale trust would have been split between Phillips’ four children from his first marriage, Caroline, Claudia, Andrew, and Roger, as well as Zara.

Phillips’ two sons and two daughters were each left £50,000 in the will, while his 15 grandchildren were each awarded £5,000.

Zara was left £155,000, along with ten of Phillips’ belongings, each worth as much as £1,500, and more than 25 per cent of the shares in the trust fund.

The house spat will now be decided at London’s High Court, though Zara insists she has not been told about the case.

A case filed this week names the Estate of Leslie Samuel Phillips CBE as the claimant, and Zara Phillips as the defendant.

It is listed as a Part Eight claim, meaning the parties do not agree on the facts, and is said to be a case about “provision for family/dependants”.

Speaking outside her home yesterday, Zara told The Sun: “I am very surprised. I had no idea about any of this.

“Leslie’s children have not been in touch with me at all.

“If they want me to come to court, I will do.

“I will come to court and fight it if I must.

“I am planning to stay put. I have no plans to move out – this is my home.

“I will have to speak to my lawyers.”

Zara met Leslie in 1995, but the couple were friends for 18 years before they married.

Leslie was walking near his home when he saw Zara, then a 39-year-old widow, who insisted she did not know the star was world-famous.

At the time, Leslie was married to his second wife, Bond actress Angela Scoular, who took her own life after her cancer returned in 2011.

The executor of Leslie Phillips’ estate, solicitor Martin Terrell, said he could not comment on an ongoing case.

Where is All Creatures Great and Small’s original Tristan Farnon star now?

Peter Davison, who played Tristan Farnon in the original All Creatures Great and Small, went on to become the fifth Doctor Who – and his family is just as star-studded, with daughter Georgia married to David Tennant

The original All Creatures Great and Small star who played Tristan Farnon is related to a very famous television star.

The reimagined version of the beloved period drama is set to return to Channel 5 later this year for its seventh series, accompanied by a Christmas special which has already wrapped filming, according to Siegfried actor Samuel West.

The revamped programme premiered in September 2020, following the adventures of veterinary surgeon James Herriot (portrayed by Nicholas Ralph) as he navigates relationships with local farming folk and cares for their livestock throughout the Yorkshire Dales, while developing feelings for a farmer’s daughter.

Spirited assistant vet Tristan Farnon is brought to life by Callum Woodhouse in the contemporary version, who has previously featured in Cold Feet, The Durrells, and, more recently, The Fortune.

Running from 1978 to 1990, the original All Creatures Great and Small series premiered on the BBC, inspired by the working life of Alf Wight, the renowned Yorkshire veterinary surgeon who adopted the pseudonym James Herriot, reports Wales Online.

His real-life encounters and anecdotes were chronicled in a collection of books that were later transformed into the television phenomenon.

What happened to the original Tristan from All Creatures Great and Small?

In the first adaptation, when James Herriot, brought to life by Christopher Timothy, relocated to the Dales, he secured employment with no-nonsense veterinary practitioner Siegfried Farnon (Robert Hardy) at Skeldale House.

This brought James into contact with numerous colourful personalities in the village, including Siegfried’s younger brother, Tristan Farnon, an eager member of the practice and a character viewers adored throughout the programme’s 12-year duration.

Tristan was played by none other than actor Peter Davison, who has enjoyed a decades-long career.

The 75-year-old, hailing from London, is perhaps most recognised for his portrayal of the lead role in the science fiction series Doctor Who.

From 1981 to 1984, Peter embodied the fifth Doctor, who became instantly famed for his cricket-themed attire. He held the mantle of the legendary Time Lord for three years before actor Colin Baker took over.

He’s also celebrated for portraying David in At Home with the Braithwaites, DC Davies in The Last Detective, and CPS Director Henry Sharpe in Law and Order: UK.

Beyond Paradise viewers will recall Peter as Richard Baxter in the second series of the BBC detective programme, which broadcast in 2024. His latest appearances include The Gold, The Larkins, and Gentleman Jack.

Family life

Off-screen, Peter is married to actress and writer Elizabeth Heery. The pair tied the knot in 2003 and have two sons together, Louis and Joel.

Both lads have pursued careers in acting like their parents, with Louis appearing in Holby City as Parker Whitfield, Poldark as Geoffrey Charles, and in Vikings: Valhalla as Prince Edmund. Most recently, Louis portrayed Leo Quinn in the BBC series Death in Paradise, which broadcast earlier this year on BBC One.

Meanwhile, his brother Joel has appeared in the series Mammoth, The F1rst Team, and the podcast series Doctor Who: Stranded.

Peter isn’t the sole Doctor Who star in his family, as his daughter, actress Georgia, is wed to the tenth Doctor, David Tennant. Peter had Georgia with his ex-wife, Sandra Dickinson, an American actress who has featured in Batman.

Following an audition for an earlier episode of the sci-fi series, Georgia, 41, secured the role of Jenny in the 2008 episode, ‘The Doctor’s Daughter’ – a rather fitting coincidence.

Throughout filming, David, 55, relished working alongside her on set, and following their introduction, Georgia was particularly taken. In 2020, the couple featured on That Gaby Roslin Podcast, where they discussed the beginning of their relationship.

“I very much forced it into happening, didn’t I?” said Georgia. “I was very much the driving force. Had I not worked quite so hard, it might not have happened.”

David responded: “That makes it sound like I was resistant, which was not what happened. I thought we were an unlikely life partnership, I suppose. There is a bit of an age gap.

“Because Doctor Who had run through my life like a stick of rock, to end up marrying the daughter of one of the Doctors, it all felt a bit stupid… that wasn’t really likely to happen. So there were a lot of things against it.”

The pair shares five children together: Olive, Wilfred, Doris, Birdie, and Georgia’s eldest child, Ty.

All Creatures Great and Small is available to stream on Channel 5

Why Laura Hamilton is ‘furious’ over her ex-husband’s new lookalike girlfriend as star fears awkward showbiz encounter

IT’S everybody’s worst nightmare bumping into their ex-partner, let alone when they are with their new girlfriend – But we can reveal that Laura Hamilton is said to be bracing herself for just that.

Yesterday, The Sun told how her former husband had moved on with a stunning PR girl and now, insiders tell us how the A Place in the Sun presenter really feels about it  – and why their two worlds could collide.

Alex has actually been dating Becky for over a year, but has only just gone public Credit: instagram/knowles_bk

Laura, who split from Alex Goward in 2022 after 13 years together, is understood to be unhappy about his new romance with stunning PR guru Becky Knowles – a relationship we can reveal has actually been quietly underway for more than a year.

Alex, 45, and Becky, who bears a striking resemblance to his ex-wife, went public with their relationship this week.

However, Alex does in fact appear on Becky’s social media as far back as June last year, with the couple also enjoying a romantic holiday together last September.

The pair are said to have kept things low-key out of respect for Laura and the children she shares with Alex – Rocco, 12, and 11-year-old Tahlia – but felt that after a year together, it was the right time to make things public.

However, Laura is said to be worried about coming face-to-face with her ex’s new girlfriend as they move in similar showbiz circles.

She is also said to be uncomfortable with Becky’s high-profile friendship group, which includes Pussycat Doll Ashley Roberts, Louise Redknapp and singer Cheryl.

“Becky has always moved in fabulous circles – even more so than Laura!” a source said.

“She has lots of showbiz friends and her sister Emma Lucy is a famous crystal healer who regularly appears on This Morning and is best friends with Holly Willoughby. Becky was also very close to Caroline Flack.

“One person not so happy about it all is Laura. She’s had a while to come to terms with it all privately, but now it’s out in the open; it’s opened old wounds – nobody wants to see their ex with someone younger and more beautiful, let alone so successful.

“Laura is also very worried about bumping into them because Becky moves in the same showbiz circles. She attends the premieres, celebrity launches and has lots of A-list friends, so she’s dreading bumping into her ex and Becky in public. It will be incredibly difficult and awkward for her.”

Becky and Alex went Instagram official this week, sharing snaps of the pair enjoying a date night together.

In one photo, he rested his hand on Becky’s leg as she, dressed in a short black skirt and heels, posed alongside him at a bar. A second image showed the couple holding drinks, with Becky kissing him on the cheek.

Stunning Becky uploaded the snaps with the caption: “Us” and a love heart emoji, before Alex reposted them to his story.

Friends say she is “smitten” and that it’s the happiest they’ve ever seen her.

One said: “We all knew this was very serious as soon as she posted him on her Instagram – everyone was like ‘omg who’s this guy’? Because Becky has been single for years and years and years!

“She’s very confident, outgoing, smart and has got extremely high standards. She’s also so incredibly beautiful. She has always had admirers, but she is far too driven and busy with work and her friends to be tied down to just anyone – so we knew that he must be the one.

“They’ve actually been together for over a year now, but kept things low-key out of respect for Laura and his children. It felt like the right time to go Instagram official this week – they are so in love and the happiest they’ve ever been.”

Laura has also been trying to move on following her split – but has found Alex’s news hard to take.

Our source said: “Laura wants her ex to be happy, but she can’t help feeling a bit irked by Becky and all this. The last thing she wants to see is him draped all over his beautiful new girlfriend in the press. That’s her world!”

In 2023, Laura opened up about her “tough” divorce from Alex, saying she had to stay strong for their children.

She said: “You say content, but I have moments when I feel this is tough, this is hard, this is not what I expected my life to be. But I’m a glass-half-full person, and I have to be positive. I have to be strong. Am I making the best of the situation as I can right now? Yes, 100 per cent.

“But I do get sad because things went the way they did. I might look like everything is fine all the time, and that’s how things come across on social media, but no, I’d be a robot if I didn’t have those emotions.

‘Do I let myself cry? Yes, all the time. And I encourage Rocco and Tahlia to always share their feelings. It is better to talk and let the emotions out than bottle up.”

Two years after their divorce, Laura was linked to married businessman James Pettigrew, who was said to also be going through a divorce at the time, and the pair were seen kissing in her car.

But she later refused to be drawn on the relationship.

She said at the time: “I’m dating. I’m having fun. No, I don’t have the apps. I’ve tried those in the past three years. I went on Raya and thought: ‘This is not for me.’ I like to meet people organically.

“People do look at me and say: ‘I know you from somewhere…’ and that starts a conversation.

“I did go out on a date with somebody, and the only thing he wanted to talk about was buying a property in the sun. I’m not here to be your property consultant!

“But it’s quite difficult for me to date when you look at my life and how busy I am. I’ve got two children and I’m abroad every other week.”

But while dating has been difficult for Laura, it seems it’s not been quite so much of a struggle for her ex.

Justice for U.S. star Folarin Balogun, red card for VAR

What do you mean U.S. forward Folarin Balogun got red-carded? For that?

As a nation, we’re pretty new to all this. And this VAR abomination we’ve all now been introduced to? Thanks, we hate it.

Soccer’s video assistant referee system is worse than the NBA’s tedious in-game reviews. Worse than the existential NFL question of whether it is or is not a catch. Dumber than not being able to argue obvious balls and strikes in a pre-ABS baseball world.

Worse than all those things put together.

And now that we witnessed it burn the U.S. men’s soccer team in its rousing 2-0 round of 32 World Cup victory over Bosnia and Herzegovina on Wednesday, all of us newly accredited soccer experts in America are ready to declare war on VAR.

In a physical fixture filled with shoving and shouldering, pushing and pummeling, blood and guts, after 60-plus minutes of letting ’em play, Balogun’s off-balance misstep got him kicked off the pitch.

A match of no-calls — including, initially, this gnarly moment of incidental contact between Balogun and Tarik Muharemovic — and the United States found itself down a man for most of the second half at Levi’s Stadium.

The unfortunate accident will rob Americans — both those on the pitch and those glued to screens at home or at a watch party — of their top scorer (Balogun has three goals in three matches) in a round of 16 showdown with Belgium on Monday in Seattle.

The young man was doing LeBron James’ silencer celebration after scoring a goal one moment and being tagged with soccer’s equivalent of a Flagrant 2 the next — because of how one moment was assessed on tape delay.

Delay being the operative phrase. No one loves late calls, but soccer has some late calls. Examined in super-slow motion. And, as the United States’ Tyler Adams pointed out: “When you slow everything down, it’s only going to look worse.”

And Balogun didn’t mean it! That’s a better defense in some situations than others — including this one. Per letter of the law.

ESPN’s resident refereeing expert, Andy Davies, a former Select Group referee with more 12 seasons on the elite list provided this summary judgment: “With both players challenging for ball, the contact from Balogun on Muharemovic, while it looked bad in slow motion, was purely accidental and an unfortunate result from two players challenging for possession of the ball in a normal football movement.”

Also, Davies: “VAR made their recommendation to the referee based on slow-motion and still replays, which is not aligned with VAR protocols, as these should be used for only point-of-contact purposes in a red card tackle situation.”

Let me tell you something you already knew: FIFA is inconsistent.

Malik Tillman’s exquisitely placed, curving free kick for a goal in the 82nd minute might have been Messi-esque, but the call on Balogun? Not Messi-esque.

In a group play match against Algeria, Lionel Messi, the Argentine superstar, seemed to rake his studs along Aïssa Mandi’s right calf and ankle. That time, a foul was called. VAR had a look. And despite the rules stating that a challenge from behind with studs-on-calf contact and a level of force should be a red card — no card was administered. Can’t have Messi missing games.

The armchair referee system, so far from unassailable, is also unappealable — to U.S. coach Mauricio Pochettino’s dismay.

“For me, never is this red card,” Pochettino said. “Watching after on TV, never was [it] intention[al] to step up on the player. That was a normal action in football that happened by accident.

“That is why for me it’s never a red card.”

But you don’t have to take his word for it.

On Fox, former French footballing legend Thierry Henry said: “You need to adopt some type of common sense. He never went to hurt nobody. He went to get the ball, and where do you land after? You have to land somewhere.”

Commentator Ian Darke weighed in with a post on X: “Reckless and yellow would have covered it.”

Trust your own eyes.

In an attempt to eliminate human error, this great sport has introduced human error. But it feels more egregious than a bad call in the run of play because it’s justice — or injustice — meted out arbitrarily, unevenly and after the fact.

Look, I’m sure the world doesn’t want to hear any of our star-spangled opinions about how to improve the beautiful game — but in this, we’re united.

There’s a universal sentiment: Give VAR the red card.

Wimbledon star Eugenie Bouchard’s lavish life from famous friends to jet-setting

Former Wimbledon finalist Eugenie Bouchard is now commentating at the championship

While Novak Djokovic and Serena Williams have grabbed plenty of headlines during Wimbledon, off the court its Eugenie Bouchard generating all the buzz.

The tennis star, who made it to the final in the championship in 2014, is now one of the pundits commentating on the games on the BBC. She has been winning over viewers, with Wimbledon watchers posting comments on X saying she was a “stand out” new addition to the coverage team and dropping fire emojis to show their appreciation.

“From a historic Wimbledon final to crushing the court in a whole new sport, she’s still a total ace!” one posted on the platform, which was formerly Twitter.

As well as her tennis and commentary skills, Eugenie is also known for her lavish lifestyle, from travel to bags worth hundreds of pounds.

Brand deals

The star was a favourite with some big brands after bursting onto the tennis scene over a decade ago, and things ramped up even further after her success at Wimbledon.

She ended up bagging some major brand deals, working with the likes of Coca-Cola and Nike during her career.

Worldwide travel

Eugenie, who has previously revealed that she was named after Princess Eugenie as her mum is a fan of the Royal family, is no stranger to the high life. She regularly shares snaps on Instagram that show her on her travels, whether its glam nights out in Miami or chic dinners in Paris.

The star, who has previously been spotted boarding a private plane, recently said on Instagram that she travelled a lot for work, sharing: “I’ve taken 36 flights in 2026 so far. That’s 1 flight every 3.7 days. The amount of times friends have said to me ‘following your travel on ig makes my head spin’… lol. I’m type A so if I don’t have something that needs to get done immediately, or somewhere to rush off to, I feel panicky inside. after noticing this, I have started forcing myself to take days off, even entire weekends.”

Handbag collection

According to reports, Eugenie has amassed quite the handbag collection, with an array of pricey totes in her wardrobe.

She apparently forked out over £1,000 for a Louis Vuitton bag after pocketing some prize money, and her collection is now said to include a pink Gucci bumbag worth hundreds as well as a Chanel bag worth thousands of pounds.

Pricey jewellery

Eugenie has evidently developed a taste for the finer things and thanks to her brand deals and winnings, she’s been able to fund a stunning jewellery collection.

The tennis star has previously been snapped sporting a gold Daytona watch – which can cost well over £20,000, and she’s also known to wear flashy gold rings including a costly Kenzo.

Famous friends

Eugenie apparently counts a number of celebrities as friends, including The Big Bang Theory star Jim Parsons and fellow Canadian star Drake.

The sports star was previously romantically linked to Jack Brinkley-Cook, the son of supermodel Christie Brinkley.

Coverage of Wimbledon is airing on BBC One and BBC Two, as well as being available to stream on BBC iPlayer

In a video filmed inside her house, Taylor said: “Got a therapy session in ten minutes.

“She is working for her cash today. Sit down, got things to tell you. A woman’s intuition always knows.

“I’ve been going to therapy for a lot of years. Like this last month, the sessions are crucial.”

The clip then cuts to show a snippet of Taylor saying: “Yeah, I know now I wouldn’t do that again.

“I wouldn’t shrink myself to make someone comfortable. I need help working through this betrayal.”

Taylor then got in her car after the therapy session and took her dog for a walk.

She then returned back home looking tearful as she debriefed to a friend who hugged her.

In the post’s caption, Taylor shared how hard a break-up can be in the public eye, saying: “Come to Dylan Gossett with me and a proper day in the life vlog.

“The experience of a public break up is so, SO weird. Because you’re trying to grieve the future you thought you were going to have and was promised, in real time; with every other persons 2 pence included.

“I’m very thankful for social media and what I’ve been able to achieve so far because of it (rehoming a lot of dogs in shelters, building my business, advocating topics I really care about), but experiencing the downsides is, well, savage.”

On June 29, Giant, real name Jamie, announced his split from Taylor.

He had previously been given an ultimatum to either stay with her or leave the show due to her being on OnlyFans.

However, he’s now done a U-turn and called time on their romance despite being axed by the BBC.

Jamie took to Instagram to address the speculation that his relationship had ended.

He said: “I’m not in a relationship anymore. I’m working on myself, the most important person right now to serve the people that I love is working on me.

“Working out who it is I want be, which direction I want to go in because the ego has been put in a box, I want to move forwards and I want people to know me for me.”

He claimed he doesn’t know what’s next for him but he knows he want to be a “better person.”

Jamie split from his ex wife in November and shortly after began dating Taylor.

Strictly Come Dancing star announces new career move as he teams up with pop star legend

The two former Strictly Come Dancing stars have teamed up together for a new project

A Strictly Come Dancing star announced their new career move on Wednesday’s Lorraine.

During the latest instalment, host Lorraine Kelly spoke to Lorraine’s showbiz correspondent, Ross King, who typically airs his segment live from Los Angeles.

However, on Wednesday’s show, Ross, 64, was live in the Lorraine London studio for Wimbledon, where he shared some exciting career news.

Lorraine said: “You have teamed up with Will Young for something very, very special. I would never have put the two of you together necessarily but it is for something super!”

To which Ross replied: “I know, it is… pantomime! So last year I came back, I was back with Rylan over at Southend and then this year we’re going to be at Plymouth so I’m heading up to Plymouth next week for the press call with Will Young for Cinderella again. So I can’t wait!” confirming he will be playing Buttons again.

Lorraine gushed: “We love that, because we all went as a work outing to see you, and it was just the best night. It was the best night. It was great fun.”

The presenter added: “But it just shows you the planning that goes into it, that you all know that you’re all going to be doing that in Plymouth at Christmas time already.

“It’s got to be though, it’s got to be all sorted out, because it’s such a big, big deal” with Ross exclaiming: “No, it’s great, I can’t wait!”

Theatre Royal Plymouth and Crossroads Pantomimes announced earlier this year that Will Young will headline this year’s pantomime as The Fairy Godfather in Cinderella, running from Friday 4 December 2026 to Sunday 3 January 2027.

As well as his Lorraine presenting duties, Ross recently appeared on Strictly Come Dancing, where he was paired with professional dancer Jowita Przystal in 2025. The duo were the second contestants to be eliminated on the BBC One show.

Singer Will, 47, who soared to fame after winning the first-ever Pop Idol in 2002, has also appeared on Strictly.

Will appeared on the dance show back in 2016, where he withdrew during the competition for personal reasons at the time.

Lorraine continues on weekdays at 9:30am on ITV and ITVX.
