In his first 100 days, Mamdani brings a unique star power to New York City governance

In his first 100 days in office, New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani has governed with a star power unusual in politics.

Crowds of supporters show up to his news conferences. Basic municipal services have been infused with newfound excitement. Celebrities help him promote his agenda.

In the process, he’s been able to notch a few notable early wins. And he’s reached a detente, at least for now, with President Trump, a mercurial leader with an affinity for celebrities.

But as Mamdani, a Democrat, marks an early milestone in his mayoralty, it remains to be seen whether he’ll be able to leverage his fame into achieving the progressive policy proposals that propelled him to office.

Though he still has staunch critics, many of whom still view his past criticisms of the police department and Israel as major problems, Mamdani has been able to ease concerns among at least some skeptics.

“It’s early but so far, so good,” said Jay Jacobs, chair of the state’s Democratic Party, who made waves for not endorsing Mamdani during the election. “We may not agree on everything philosophically, but he is getting the job done.”

‘The biggest needs and the smallest needs’

As the mayor approached his 100th day — long a benchmark for judging an administration’s opening vision — his team has moved to highlight the administration’s commitment to the everyday responsibilities of the job.

While much of those duties are typical for his local office — picking up trash, plowing snow and filling potholes — the 34-year-old mayor has leaned on his knack for viral content creation to drive interest and awareness of government programs.

To hype up his child-care program for 2-year-olds, Mamdani recruited Cardi B to help judge a jingle contest that will determine the initiative’s theme song. His slick social media videos helped recruit thousands of new snow shovelers as a storm bore down on the city. A public service announcement he made brought more than 50,000 new subscribers to the city’s emergency alert system in a single week.

A few weeks ago, alongside Natasha Cloud of the New York Liberty, Mamdani announced a bracket-style competition in which people could vote on small projects for him to come and personally fix on his 100th day.

On Friday, Mamdani selected a winner — a garbage-filled lot in the Bronx — and helped pick up some of the junk with a sanitation crew, following a celebratory event that featured an overflowing trash can mascot and a cheerleading squad.

“I think every single day it’s an opportunity to meet the needs of New Yorkers,” he said. “And what we’ve seen over the course of this 100 days is that New York City wants to see a city government that is able to meet the biggest needs and the smallest needs.”

The celebrity status, though, can also prompt backlash. During a bitter cold snap, his surprise appearance on “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon” was seen by some as insensitive at a moment when the death toll of homeless New Yorkers was rapidly rising.

“Too much styling and profiling,” said Curtis Sliwa, a Republican who ran against Mamdani during last year’s election, noting longstanding problems with street homelessness, public housing and infrastructure.

Still, Sliwa, who hammered Mamdani during the campaign but recently appeared in a comedy skit with the mayor during the City Hall press corps’ annual roast, appeared to give Mamdani some credit, even if it came with a caveat.

“We just had Eric Adams, swagger man who’d party to the break of dawn, and now we have a guy who seems like he’s got a normal working schedule,” said Sliwa, referencing the city’s previous mayor. “So having Zohran as the alternative, I think for a lot of people even if they disagree with him, there’s some stability.”

Still a star among supporters

On the night of Mamdani’s election party, hundreds packed the streets, some spontaneously, waiting for a glimpse of the mayor-elect leaving the venue. Departing campaign aides were cheered, by name, well after midnight. One attendee likened the street party to Beatlemania.

“I feel like I’m at a presidential inauguration,” said Medhavie Agnihotri, a 25-year-old tech consultant. “This is the first time in a while I’ve felt this hope.”

His star power has not appeared to wane since then.

Outside City Hall, New Yorkers and tourists frequently stop for selfies, peering through the iron gates in search of the mayor.

This week, on the mayor’s 97th day in office, a crowd gathered in the lobby of the busy Bellevue Hospital in Manhattan to watch as Mamdani announced the city would start transferring Rikers Island jail detainees with serious medical illnesses to a specialized unit at the hospital.

He entered to woos and applause from the onlookers, as many held up cellphones to record videos of the mayor. Dozens more watched along from a set of elevated walkways.

One man, Ricardo Granados, a 67-year-old retiree, was on his way to take his son to a medical appointment but stopped to see what all the hubbub was about just before the news conference started. He appeared delighted to learn the mayor was going to show up, saying he met Mamdani previously when the mayor was campaigning in his neighborhood.

“I’m extremely fond of him. I think he’s going to make a real difference,” Granados said. “He wants to find out who needs what and he wants to help.”

Katie Price’s husband Lee reveals plan to get star back behind the wheel despite SEVENTH driving ban

KATIE Price’s husband Lee Andrews has revealed she could soon be set for a return to the road in Dubai — after she was handed her seventh driving ban in the UK.

The former glamour model, 47, has been stopped from getting behind the wheel for six months after failing to respond to police letters about an 80mph speeding ticket.

She was clocked breaking the law in a Ford Capri on the A64 in North Yorkshire back in October ahead of a theatre gig in Scarborough with Kerry Katona.

But today her Dubai-based husband Lee, 41, told The Sun that she will soon receive her UAE licence issued by Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority.

He added that she will also be granted her Golden Visa via spousal sponsorship. The long-term residence visa allows foreign nationals to live and work in the country for a period of five or 10 years.

A key requirement of the visa application process is to provide a marriage certificate attested by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) in the UAE.

STAYING PUT

Katie Price reveals why she’s taking break from Dubai after hubby bombshell

Katie and Lee had a symbolic ceremony in January in Dubai, before making it official in Abu Dhabi’s judicial department weeks later.

This month marks a move to make the digital links between the DVLA in the UK and the RTA stronger.

It means Katie may face new hurdles to a road return in the Middle East.

If the licence was issued prior to her ban, she could be allowed to drive in Dubai, though she will be legally required to disclose her UK ban to her insurer. Failure to do so could lead to deportation, a fine or even jail time.

However, if the application was submitted after the ban was handed down and the RTA checks the status of her foreign licenses it will be rejected.

When asked if Katie would be eligible to drive in Dubai, a spokesperson said: “I have no idea. It’s something she’ll have to look into.”

Katie was first banned for six months in December 2010 after admitting a speeding charge. She was then disqualified for a year in 2012 after failing to respond to speeding tickets, and she received another six-month ban in February 2018 after being caught speeding.

In January 2019, she was in court again to admit driving while disqualified, leading to a three-month ban.

And just a month later she was convicted by a judge of being drunk in charge of a vehicle when it was seen by police to veer off the road and hit a grass verge.

Katie claimed that a mystery man had been at the wheel and left the scene before officers arrived, but a judge concluded her evidence was “not plausible”.

Later in 2019, she was convicted of failing to disclose the name of the driver following a car crash, which led to her receiving an 18-month road ban.

And in 2021, a judge condemned Katie for “one of the worst driving records I have ever seen”, as she was given a 16-week suspended prison sentence for drink-driving while disqualified and without insurance.

Katie had flipped her car and told police at the scene: “I took drugs, I should not be driving, I admit it all.”

The incident landed her with a two-year driving ban, as well as 100 hours of community service and up to 30 rehabilitation sessions.

In 2024, Katie was fined £880 for driving without a licence and insurance in Northamptonshire, but she was spared a ban for those offences.

Her latest conviction and driving disqualification was dealt with last week in the Single Justice Procedure, a secretive court process where magistrates deal with criminal cases behind closed doors.

Malcolm in the Middle star has ‘never watched show’ for ‘uncomfortable’ reason

Malcolm in the Middle is officially back and the actor who played older brother Reese has revealed that he has ‘never watched the show’ despite being a leading figure in it

The actor who starred as Reese in Malcolm in the Middle has “never watched the show” back. Justin Berfield, now 40, has now returned to our screens for the reboot of the sitcom that ended two decades ago. He has lived a quiet life since then and recently revealed why he quit Hollywood.

But speaking on The Joe Vulpis Podcast, he confirmed that he had watched the four-episode revival, which was released on Disney+ today (April 10), but he still avoids the original episodes.

He said: “I watched it — and I never watched any of the Malcolm episodes.”

Host Joe, clearly surprised, pushed him further, and Justin continued: “I think I’ve, out of 151 episodes, I think I’ve just seen five… I just never watched them.

“I’m an actor… I cannot watch myself because I critique myself way too much.”

He was then informed that he was “great” as Reese but he responded: “I am like, I feel I didn’t hit that joke right, I feel like I messed that line up. I can’t watch myself.

“I’ll turn it on for my wife and kids and I’ll run away and leave the room. I’m like, ‘Let me know when it’s done.’”

He was then pressed on whether he will one day watch it back, given it might trigger some positive memories he had forgotten about.

Justin, who is now a stay-at-home dad who has worked as an onset producer and writer, said: “I don’t know… maybe. I just get uncomfortable watching myself. I know every actor is different and some people love watching themselves, I just can’t. I don’t know. I critique myself too much.”

The reboot sees Justin return as the older brother to Malcolm, played by Frankie Muniz.

He said it was interesting to see where all the characters ended up 20 years later — and he said Reese was still his “shortsighted but quick reacting” self.

Also returning is Malcom’s other older brother, Francis, portrayed by Christopher Masterson. And the siblings’ parents, Hal and Lois, played by Bryan Cranston and Jane Kaczmarek, are also starring in it.

The synopsis reveals: “After shielding himself and his daughter from his family for over a decade, Malcolm is dragged back into their orbit when Hal and Lois demand his presence at their 40th anniversary party.”

And as for what it was like being back on set after so long away from his former colleagues, Justin said: “It felt like a really, just a really long hiatus. When we were filming the show, you’d film for like eight months and then you’d take like two, three months off, and then kind of go back and do some things again and start seeing everyone, and that was like your year for seven years straight.

“And then we did this, it was obviously like 20 years since we’d seen each other for most of us. And you just kind of, it felt like time stopped, like we just got right back into it.”

Natasha Lyonne reportedly escorted off of plane at LAX

Mere hours after gracing the “Euphoria” Season 3 premiere red carpet, disrobing to reveal a sheer top, beige corset bottoms and lace stockings that became the talk of the town, then jetting over to LAX to catch a red-eye to New York, Natasha Lyonne was reportedly removed from her Delta flight.

According to Page Six, the “Poker Face” star hadn’t changed out of her red carpet look before taking her seat in first class, where she promptly dozed off. Flight attendants tried to rouse Lyonne and asked her to close her laptop and fasten her seatbelt, but the outlet reports she was incommunicado and appeared to be zonked out behind her shades.

Onlookers said that, as several flight attendants tried to stir Lyonne, removed her laptop and asked if she needed medical attention, she seemed out of it, and asked, “Where are we?”

Attendants ultimately had to tell Lyonne the plane wouldn’t be going anywhere until the actor got off, to which she reportedly obliged.

Due to the series of events, Lyonne missed her scheduled Wednesday morning appearance on “The Drew Barrymore Show.”

“My heart is with all the unpaid TSA agents at our airports,” she wrote on X alongside a pink heart emoji. “Sure was looking forward to speaking honestly with @DrewBarrymore yesterday but guess wasn’t in the cards.”

Fans of Lyonne commented on the post, worried and checking in with the actor, who has long been candid about her battle with addiction. After 10 years of sobriety, the “Orange Is the New Black” star revealed that she relapsed earlier this year in a social media post that has since been deleted.

In March, she checked in with her online followers again, reassuring fans she was on the mend.

“Proud to report this kid is doing a whole lot better & back on her feet. Want to thank our recovery communities & the fans who stood by & were so supportive,” she wrote on X. “Aiming to keep the journey somehow private, but look forward to sharing my experience, strength & hope as makes sense. My heart is with everyone ever going through it.”

Representatives for Lyonne have not responded to a request for comment.

BBC series compared to Miss Marple gets update as star ‘delighted’

The popular detective series first aired back in 2024 and features David Mitchell and Anna Maxwell Martin

There’s brilliant news for fans of the hit detective series Ludwig, as it looks as though it’ll be back for a third series.

The BBC crime drama initially premiered in 2024 and featured David Mitchell portraying twin brothers John Taylor and DCI James Taylor.

When John visited his sister-in-law, Lucy Betts-Taylor (Anna Maxwell Martin), events took a dramatic turn as he discovered his brother had vanished from their Cambridge residence.

As she revealed that James had been behaving oddly while working on a case, Lucy informed John that her husband had instructed her to escape with their son after he failed to return home one evening.

Nevertheless, she defied his instructions and enlisted his twin brother to assume John’s identity and pose as a member of the police force in a bid to uncover the truth, reports Cambridgeshire Live.

Despite his early reservations, he ultimately consented as his puzzle-solving abilities enabled him to recognise that the letter his brother left contained hidden messages.

Following a series packed with twists and turns, John eventually confessed that he wasn’t his twin brother. Yet, they received an unexpected voicemail from the real James.

Acknowledging he disappeared, James instructs his twin to carry on investigating the corruption in Cambridge.

While the second series is scheduled to broadcast later this year, it appears there could be additional episodes in the pipeline as TVZone reports that a third instalment has been commissioned.

The BBC declined to comment when contacted by Cambridge News. Discussing the second series, David Mitchell said: “I’m delighted that John ‘Ludwig’ Taylor has failed to escape the clutches of the Cambridge police and will have to continue to face up to the city’s alarming conundrum-based crime wave.”

Alongside David and Anna reprising their roles in Ludwig, audiences can also expect to see Dipo Ola (DCI Russell Carter), Dylan Hughes (Henry Betts-Taylor), Dorothy Atkinson (DCS Carol Shaw), Ralph Ineson (Chief Constable Ziegler) and Karl Pilkington (DI Matt Neville) all return to the screen.

The series has garnered widespread acclaim from viewers since its debut, with one fan declaring: “#Ludwig on BBC is amazing!” Another enthused: “Oh my goodness @BBCiPlayer – #Ludwig was absolutely incredible! When is series 2 out??!!”

A further viewer remarked: “Clever, witty and perfectly casted! Back to classic entertainment! Just what we need these days, and we need more of it.”

While another enthusiastic fan shared: “A WONDERFUL ENTERTAINING MURDER MYSTERY, EVOCATIVE OF MISS MARPLE HERSELF. Ludwig from the BBC, is a beautiful written mini series.”

The first series of Ludwig is available to watch in full on BBC iPlayer.

‘The Christophers’ review: Ian McKellen as a reclusive art star is the draw

No actor in a movie this month is enjoying themselves more than Ian McKellen as an egomaniac painter in Steven Soderbergh’s slender pleasure “The Christophers.” Once, his Julian Sklar was the bisexual provocateur of the London art scene commanding millions for a single piece. Now he’s better known as the villain of “Art Fight,” a reality competition show where he took cruel pleasure destroying amateurs’ hopes.

Equally dismissive of his own output, Julian hasn’t wielded a paintbrush in decades. And so his adult children Barnaby and Sallie (James Corden and Jessica Gunning of “Baby Reindeer”) — two money-grubbing, untalented brats — hire a broke art restorer, Lori (Michaela Coel), to finish a stack of half-sketched portraits Julian made of his male ex-lover that were left abandoned in the attic. Don’t think of it as forgery, Barnaby assures Lori, “more like forging through them until they are completed.”

That’s a great line, and “The Christophers” has a dozen more almost as good. Nearly all get delivered by McKellen’s Julian, waving a champagne coupe while monologuing about humidifiers, cancel culture and a doctor who smells like radishes. He seems to imagine acolytes — or at least, television audiences — eagerly soaking up his bon mots. Meanwhile, Lori, a young Black woman hired under false pretenses as an assistant, stares mutely. If their first meeting as boss and employee were freeze-framed into a painting, it would be called “A Study in Contrasts.”

The script is by Ed Solomon, who also collaborated with Soderbergh on the more action-packed 2021 gangster movie “No Sudden Move.” This plot doodles along, rarely going where we expect. Mostly, Julian and Lori take turns thwarting his obnoxious kids and threatening to quit. I chuckled every time Corden and Gunning showed up for more abuse, including from Soderbergh, who shoots them like a wall of stupidity, blocking doorways as they stand side-by-side like Tweedledee and Tweedledum.

The inequalities of the art world are gestured to as fact. Lori, who might be every bit as technically gifted as Julian, ekes out a living serving egg rolls in a food truck while sharing a walk-up loft with three other struggling painters. Julian lords over not one but two swanky adjoining townhouses stuffed with antiques. Once, to flip off the establishment, he sold a work worth 2 million British pounds for the price of a used car. His version of disdain is her idea of a fortune.

One stick figure by Julian would be worth more than anything Lori’s ever done, which makes it extra maddening that he chooses instead to earn a little extra pocket money recording video messages for fans who only care about him as that mean guy on TV. In the glow of a ring light, he tosses off glib advice that might itself be worthless. Quit art school, he tells one, and “happy birthday, blah, blah, blah.” (Even imagining a popular TV show about art is, in itself, culturally aspirational for those of us who enjoy reruns of Bob Ross.)

Why is there such disparity between the value of Julian and Lori’s work? The reasons are so obvious that, to the film, they’re barely worth mentioning: age, gender, era, fame and skill. Julian would dismiss the first two, claiming that wokeness gives an old, white male like him the handicap. But it’s frustrating that the film doesn’t dig very deep into the rest, either. I especially wanted a scene where Julian must reckon with a no-name interloper’s ability to copy his genius, but comparing whether Lori is Julian’s equal would call the film’s bluff and force it to actually show us their art. The handheld camera prefers to lurk on the wooden side of the easel.

Really, I’m not sure Soderbergh even has an opinion on their clash. He just wants to be an eavesdropper in the room, standing back against the dusty brick-a-brack. Of course, if you squint, you can see what interests Soderbergh in this set-up. Like Julian, he’s been threatening to retire for years. He knows how irritated people are when an artist claims they don’t want to bother anymore. And like the neglected paintings in the attic — the Christophers of the title — every filmmaker has their own unfinished projects taking up mental space overhead, treasured ideas that will never emerge to their satisfaction.

Still, I suspect that even if Soderbergh personally identifies with the premise (even though he continues to release more movies in one year than his peers do in five), he still finds Julian’s paralysis a bit pathetic. Julian just needs paint, a brush and the will to create. Filmmakers, now those poor bastards need rich patrons.

Even so, Soderbergh likes to make movies as resourcefully as he can, doing his own editing and cinematography and, above all, prioritizing the act of invention. He can’t be copied because his own work is so eclectic. Have you ever heard of any director being called the next Soderbergh? You sense that, to him, forgery is as creatively dull as a factory-issued franchise sequel. (Except, of course, his “Magic Mike” and “Ocean’s” series, which are, at their best, closer to wacky Warhols.)

Tasked to play the foil to McKellen’s clown, Coel comes off stiff. She has the spine to hold her own against him, but it’s hard to play withholding, particularly when the film needs her character to be both the voice of reason and a politically correct scold. Only her carved cheekbones give off an impression of Lori’s hungry ambition. Still, when she does deign to speak, there’s a dynamite scene where she dresses down Julian critically and psychologically. Whether or not she’s the second coming of him as an artist, she’s more insightful than he ever was insulting watercolors of kittens on TV.

Really, we’re just watching McKellen give a bravura, scene-gobbling performance that doesn’t hold back one iota. My favorite detail he pulls off comes when he greets Lori at the front door undressed and, when she insists he wear clothes, ties on a trench coat that somehow makes him look even more pervy and naked in how McKellen wears it, leaving one bare shoulder roguishly exposed.

The film has plenty of funny little asides like that which make it worth your while. Angelenos will chuckle at a scene in which two characters verbally commit to a meet-up both know won’t happen — or, as we say here, let’s do lunch. Out of magnanimity, I’ll liken this trifle to a Rothko. The more I think about “The Christophers,” the more I imagine it has interesting layers. But I won’t fault anyone who just sees a simple square.

Infidelity (Jenny had a fling with Mick’s bandmate Bob Weston that led to his explosive firing from the group in 1973) and the Mac’s growing popularity put a strain on the marriage and the couple divorced in 1976.

However, they quickly rekindled, moved to America and gave the relationship another shot, marrying again in 1977.

But it was over for good the following year when Mick confessed to an affair with bandmate Stevie Nicks that lasted nearly 12 months while touring the band’s iconic Rumours album.

Famed for its classic California sound and spiky internal politics, the record includes tracks such as Dreams, The Chain and Go Your Own Way and sold over 40million copies.

It would be another 10 years before Mick would say ‘I do’ again.

He began a relationship with his friend and Stevie’s best pal Sara Recor, the inspiration behind Mac hit Sara, in the late 70s while she was still married to a music producer.

The pair wed in a star-studded ceremony 1988 and remained legally bound until 1995 — the same year Mick married his third wife, Lynn Frankel.

Lynn was credited with helping Mick beat his drink and drug demons and the pair had twin daughters in 2002.

Though he holds his hands up to the long-term use of cocaine, he insisted it never stopped him from making music.

He told Ultimate Classic Rock in 2019: “There’s no doubt we were well equipped with the marching powder. That’s a well-worn fairy tale that gets more like a war story, that gets more and more aggrandised.

I’m not minimalising the fact that we were definitely partaking in that lifestyle. But these weren’t a bunch of people crawling across the floor with green froth coming out of their mouths. We were working, you know?”

His relationship with Lynn was the longest relationship of his life but it came to an end in 2013 and they divorced two years later.

Following the dissolution of the marriage, Mac were plunged into turmoil again with guitarist Lyndsey Buckingham leaving the fold amid a falling out with Nicks and keyboard player and vocalist Christine McVie dying from a stroke and cancer aged 79.

Mick reflected on the difficult period in an interview with Mojo magazine in 2024, saying: “It’s been a strange time for me. Losing sweet Christine was catastrophic. And then, in my world, sort of losing the band too.

“And I [split] with my partner as well. I just found myself sort of licking my wounds.”

He looks to have regained a lust for life with Elizabeth ahead of entering his ninth decade.

The singer, 42, was forced to pull out of the band’s tour last year with just hours to go after falling seriously ill.

Last week, after months of silence, James revealed he was having “major surgery” in a bid to “extend his life”.

Today, his best pal Matt, who he has known for over two decades, gave an update on his good friend’s health battle.

Asked on Good Morning Britain about how James’ condition and how he was doing, the star replied: “Ah, I mean, it happened quite quickly.

“He got ill just before the tour started, so he had to pull out of the tour, so we kind of put something up there.

Busted could ‘never perform again’ says Matt Willis

“But he put something out recently, kind of an update of how he’s getting on.

“And, you know, he’s not very well, but he’s going to be… he’s getting better.

“You know, he’s on the mend.”

Matt also added that he was “seeing James later”.

It comes just days after James issued a worrying update to his fans last Saturday.

“I realised it’s been about six months since I posted last,” he wrote on an Instagram story.

“I have a plan in place to have major surgery that should extend my life and hopefully make me well enough to come back to what I love the most which is touring and making music.

“It really sucks to be out of the game.

“But there is hope!”

James and Matt shot to fame alongside Charlie Simpson when Busted arrived on the pop scene in 2002 with What I Go To School For.

The band split a few years later, and then reformed in 2015, much to the delight of fans, and have been together ever since.

However, in September James pulled out of the band’s tour with McFly with just hours to spare.

In his statement, the singer cited health problems and said he “hoped to come back further down the line”.

He wrote: “The VS tour kicks off tomorrow night in Birmingham and as excited as I’ve been all year for this tour to begin, I’m really sorry to say that over the last 8 days it has become clear that I am not in good enough health to play these shows,”

Although he didn’t disclose what the health issue is, James said at the time: “There’s a lot of information I still don’t have about my condition but my bandmates, management and I are unanimous in deciding that I should focus on medical stuff for now.

“I really hope I can be in a position to come back further down the line.

“It’s still going to be an amazing show and I will miss being there!”

Jennifer Aniston’s secret wedding plans revealed as pals tell how ‘glowing’ star is ‘besotted’ with therapist lover

JENNIFER ANISTON could be destined to marry her hypnotherapist boyfriend – as she is convinced they are soulmates who met in a past life, it is claimed.

The Friends star and wellness guru Jim Curtis are said to be so in love, they have begun scouting locations for their wedding.

Sources claim the smitten couple have also had regression therapy, designed to open up old memories, and firmly believe they knew one another in a previous incarnation.

Now, they are keen to “complete their journey” by marrying in front of loved ones at a lowkey ceremony — possibly in Europe.

An insider said: “Jen is glowing. She feels like she has waited a lifetime to find a love this easy and in a way, she believes she has.

“They’ve done intensive regression therapy together, and Jen and Jim believe they met in a past life.

“They feel their souls were destined to find each other again in this timeline to complete their journey.

“It’s all very woo-woo and spiritual, but it absolutely works for them.”

After two failed marriages — first to Brad Pitt, then Justin TherouxJennifer, 57, is apparently convinced she has found The One in Jim, 50.

The insider said: “Jen has never been so happy.

‘Clicked instantly’

“They’ve been discussing a small wedding away from the Hollywood circus, and Europe is top of the list.

“Jen does not like big crowds and would prefer an intimate ceremony with just a handful of their closest confidantes.”

The couple regularly split their time between Jen’s £15million Bel Air mansion in Los Angeles and her £12million Montecito retreat. But it appears they may be ready to move in together.

Jim has listed his £1.2million pad in Manhattan, and the pair are said to have been hunting for a luxury New York apartment.

They have been spotted looking at a block where prices start at £5million.

A source said: “They have been viewing apartments on the Upper East Side. This will be their first joint home.”

Jen and Jim have grown close amid their shared passion for spiritual healing.

But I am told they also bonded over their shared love of dogs.

Jen’s fans will be delighted to see her so happy after previous devastating break-ups.

Her 2000 marriage to actor Brad ended in divorce in 2005 amid rumours he had an affair with Angelina Jolie. After brief romances with Vince Vaughn and John Mayer, Jen wed actor Justin Theroux in 2015.

But they announced their split in 2018. Since then, the Morning Show star has kept her romantic life fiercely guarded, focusing on her career, rescue dogs and tight-knit circle of friends — until Jim walked into her life.

The master hypnotherapist, transformational coach and best-selling author built a career guiding clients through trauma and emotional recovery.

He has more than a million Instagram fans and posts daily affirmations. The pair were introduced through mutual friends in 2024. Jen was already a fan of his self-help literature and they clicked instantly, leading to clandestine dinner dates at their homes.

They have since been spotted on a romantic getaway at the exclusive Ventana Big Sur resort in Northern California and on a yacht in Majorca.

Written in stars

Instagram photos shared by Jen on Easter Sunday showed the couple embracing, and there was a snap of her with Friends co-star and pal Courteney Cox.

Jim has had a turbulent love life, too. In his book, The Stimulati Experience, he told of past struggles to “keep” a girlfriend and his divorce from his ex-wife.

According to one source, Jim was “Jen’s rock” as she was plagued by an alleged stalker who began bombarding her with messages and voicemails in 2023.

In 2025, the man crashed into the gates of her home while she was inside. He was later charged but was deemed mentally incompetent to stand trial.

“Jim kept her grounded throughout what was a very traumatic and stressful time,” said one source.

Meanwhile, Jen has been uncharacteristically open about her deep admiration for Jim. Last November, on his 50th birthday, she shared a black and white photo of them on Instagram. On her wedding finger was a diamond ring, prompting speculation she was engaged. But her team refused to comment.

Shortly after, Jen told Elle magazine Jim was “quite extraordinary”, and “very special”.

Now, it seems that with a spiritual connection written in the stars — or perhaps a past life — Jen’s search for The One is finally over.

Tom Hardy shows off HUGE tattoo collection as topless star hits the beach with wife Charlotte Riley

AS Tom Hardy enjoys a spot of Spring sunshine in Barbados during a relaxing holiday with his wife Charlotte Riley, the actor has shown off his impressive tattoo collection.

The Mobland star, 48, has over 30 inks across his chest and arms, all of which could be seen as he hit the beach on Tuesday.

Donning a pair of Venum UFC shorts, Tom and his other half enjoyed dips in the sea and sunbathed on the sand while joined by their kids.

Actress Charlotte, who has appeared in series such as Peaky Blinders, donned a black bikini top with a pair of monochrome string-tie bottoms.

The couple have been together since 2009 and married since 2014, sharing a daughter and a son together.

Tom is also a dad to 18-year-old son Louis, whom he shares with ex Rachael Speed.

Tom’s entire upper half is adorned with tattoos, with the actor going for his first ink – an Irish Leprechaun – at the age of 15.

The tat was a nod to his mother’s Irish heritage, with each one of his body art with a meaning behind it.

A Union Jack sits above his heart, which he has previously said is to “remind me where I come from”, whilst the words “Padre Fiero”, which translate to “proud father” are above the flag.

One of Tom’s tattoos, which sits on his right bicep, is a tribute to Hollywood pal Leonardo DiCaprio – after Tom lost a bet to his The Revenant co-star.

In 2016, Leo was certain that Tom would bag an Oscar nomination, while Tom said he definately would not.

The pair wagered a tattoo on it, and when Tom was nominated for the Best Supporting Actor gong at the Oscars, he agreed to get the ink.

Now, his right arm clearly reads: “Leo knows all” in large writing.

Leo isn’t the only one to get a permanent tribute, with Tom’s ex-wife, Sarah Ward, the inspiration behind the writing on his lower abdomen.

“Till I die SW,” reads the ink.

His current wife Charlotte also has a place on his body, with her name emblazoned across his shoulder.

Tom has several tattoos written in Italian, despite having no known ties to Italy.

Mira Costa volleyball star Mateo Fuerbringer thrives under pressure

Call it instinct. Call it mentality. Call it a pressure gene.

Whatever it is, Mateo Fuerbringer has it.

“I was born with it,” he says.

When the pressure is on and Mira Costa High’s volleyball team needs someone to step forward and deliver, Fuerbringer doesn’t need to raise his hand or ask for permission.

He just delivers.

“I’m able to be good under pressure in tough moments.”

Maybe it has something to do with being a volleyball player since he could walk, though a basketball was put in his crib. He quickly switched sports favorites.

His mom, Joy, played at Long Beach State and has her own club program. His dad, Matt, played at Stanford and is head coach for the 2028 Olympic Games men’s beach volleyball team. His sister, Charlie, plays at Wisconsin.

“My parents run a volleyball club, so I always came with them to work,” Fuerbringer said. “I’d always be around volleyball and got into it.”

He has grown to 6 feet 5 as a 17-year-old junior and is committed to UCLA, which is No. 1 in the nation with a 21-1 record.

Mateo Fuerbringer, center, is swarmed by Mira Costa High teammates after leading the Mustangs to a victory over Loyola.

(Steve Galluzzo / For The Times)

Mira Costa is ranked No. 1 in Southern California, and stopping Fuerbringer from rising up and coming through with a kill is always the challenge for opponents. He’s certainly not perfect, but his power and knowledge of the sport puts him on a path for future success at each level he competes.

“I really love playing,” he said. “I really love the sport.”

That kind of passion and commitment combined with talent is reflected during matches. When he smiles, you can see his joy and satisfaction after he or a teammate comes through.

Loyola coach Mike Boehle has been watching Fuerbringer for years.

“It was in his blood since he was born,” Boehle said. “To watch him as a 12-year-old you could see he was special. He was playing up. He’s probably the best outside hitter in his class. The thing I appreciate about him is he’s pretty even keel. It’s not cockiness. He just plays the game. Nothing worries him. Playing against us, he got better as the match went on. He didn’t say a lot but spoke volumes with his play.”

Boehle said he’s looking forward to seeing Fuerbringer play alongside former Loyola star Sean Kelly at UCLA.

“It could be one of the best duos in a long time,” he said.

Mirca Costa High's Mateo Fuerbringer, right, tries to deliver a kill against two Loyola blockers.

(Steve Galluzzo / For The Times)

He lives walking distance from the sand in Hermosa Beach, which means he’ll be receiving even more lessons when top beach players are training under his father this summer. He’ll be hanging out just like when he was young.

He’s just getting started. He has a jump serve that can be tough to handle. And he’s always looking to improve.

“I’ve been getting in the weight room to get stronger and increase my vertical,” he said.

There used to be two-on-two family volleyball matches, mom and dad vs. Mateo and his sister. Or card games, board games, pickleball games.

“It’s pretty feisty in the family,” Matt said.

So where do things go from here?

“One of Mateo’s big things is he wants to play with friends,” his father said. “He wants to play at the highest level with people he knows and likes.”

New Atlanta Dream star Angel Reese says ‘ATL Barbie is here to stay’

Angel Reese has a message for Atlanta Dream fans: ATL Barbie is here to stay.

The two-time WNBA All-Star told People on Tuesday that she was excited when she learned she had been traded to the organization after spending her first two seasons with the Chicago Sky.

“The team has welcomed me so much, the atmosphere, the culture. … I’m so excited to be in A-Town,” Reese told the outlet. The two teams announced the trade Monday, the first day of free agency following the ratification of a new, historic collective bargaining agreement between the WNBA and its players union in March.

The excitement appears to be mutual. Shortly after the trade was announced, the Dream online store had made Reese’s new jersey available for purchase. They sold out so quickly that Reese’s mother posted on social media that even she was unable to snag one in time. (Don’t worry, the Dream’s social media team has her covered).

Reese is a bonafide star on and off the court. A known fashion icon, the Dream forward was in New York on Tuesday to help launch Victoria Secret’s new “The Season of Strapless” campaign. It’s the first time the lingerie and loungewear brand has tapped a WNBA player to star in one of its campaigns.

The collaboration follows Reese’s runway debut at the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show in October, where she was the first professional athlete ever to walk the show. She’s also set to appear in the second season of “The Hunting Wives.”

At the Tuesday event, Reese had a message for Dream fans.

“Atlanta, what up? ATL barbie is in town and I am here to stay,” she told People.

Reese was selected seventh overall in the 2024 WNBA draft by the Sky after a standout college career that included winning the NCAA championship title with Louisiana State in 2023. She has led the WNBA in rebounding in both of her seasons so far and has averaged 14.1 points and 12.9 rebounds overall.

Reese also shared a message to Chicago fans on Instagram on Monday after her trade was announced.

“To the city of Chicago, you showed me real love from day one,” Reese says over a video montage of highlights of her time as a Sky player. “Thank you Chicago. Always, Chi-Town Barbie.”

The Sky went 23-61 after drafting Reese, including 10-34 last season (1-13 in games without Reese) and missing the playoffs for a second straight year.

‘Deadliest Catch’ star Todd Meadows’ cause of death revealed

Todd Meadows, a deckhand on one of the fishing vessels featured on the Emmy-winning reality series “Deadliest Catch,” died after he fell overboard into the Bering Sea.

The official cause of death listed on the crew member’s death certificate, which was obtained by TMZ, states that Meadows died from drowning with probable hypothermia and submersion of his body in cold water. The death has been ruled an accident by the Alaska Department of Health.

Meadows, a rookie deckhand who joined the production in May 2025, had not yet been featured on the long-running reality series at the time of his death. “Deadliest Catch” was reportedly wrapping production on Season 22 when the incident occurred, and cameras were rolling.

Meadows’ mother, Angela Meadows, has since asked that the show not air footage of her son’s death. “No parent would want the world to watch their child die,” Meadows told Alaska News Source.

Rick Shelford, the captain of the Aleutian Lady, announced in a social media post that Meadows died Feb. 25. He called it “the most tragic day in the history of the Aleutian Lady on the Bering Sea.”

“We lost our brother,” Shelford wrote in his lengthy tribute. “Todd was the newest member of our crew, he quickly became family. His love for fishing and his strong work ethic earned everyone’s respect right away. His smile was contagious, and the sound of his laughter coming up the wheelhouse stairs or over the deck hailer is something we will carry with us always.

“He worked hard, loved deeply, and brought joy to those around him,” he added. “Todd will forever be part of this boat, this crew, and this brotherhood. Though we lost him far too soon, his legacy will live on through his children and in every memory we carry of him.”

A GoFundMe set up in Meadows’ name described the deckhand from Montesano, Wash., as a father to “three amazing little boys” who died “while doing what he loved — crabbing out on Alaskan waters.”

The fundraiser has since raised more than $59,000.

According to the Associated Press, Meadows was reported to have fallen overboard around 170 miles north of Dutch Harbor, Alaska.

“He was recovered unresponsive by the crew approximately 10 minutes later,” Chief Petty Officer Travis Magee, a spokesperson with the Coast Guard’s Arctic District, told the AP.

The incident is still being investigated by the Coast Guard.

Times staff writer Tracy Brown contributed to this report.

Angel Reese is traded to Atlanta Dream after two years with Chicago

Angel Reese has a new WNBA home.

After spending her first two seasons with the Chicago Sky, the two-time All Star has been traded to the Atlanta Dream in exchange for first-round picks in 2027 and 2028, the teams announced Monday morning. Atlanta also receives the option to swap second-round picks with Chicago in 2028.

“An Angel’s DREAM,” Reese posted on X. “ATL WHAT UP?!”

Reese was already a star before coming to the WNBA after helping Louisiana State win the national championship over Caitlin Clark and Iowa in 2023 and leading the Tigers back to the Elite Eight the following year.

Selected by Chicago with the seventh overall pick in the 2024 draft, Reese finished as runner-up to Clark in rookie-of-the-year voting and led the league in rebounds per game in each of her first two seasons. Overall, she has averaged 14.1 points and 12.9 rebounds a game.

The Sky have gone 23-61 and missed the playoffs both seasons since drafting Reese. On Sept. 3, the Chicago Tribune published quotes from the star player that indicated her frustration with the team’s inability to build a winning roster and an inclination to leave if the organization isn’t able to get it right.

“I’d like to be here for my career, but if things don’t pan out, obviously I might have to move in a different direction and do what’s best for me,” Reese told the Tribune.

After the Sky’s 88-64 victory over the Connecticut Sun that night, Reese told reporters she had apologized to her teammates about the article.

“I think the language is taken out of context,” she said, “and I really didn’t intentionally mean to put down my teammates, because they’ve been through this with me throughout the whole year. They’ve busted their ass, just how I bust my ass, they showed up for me through thick and thin, and in the locker room when nobody could see anything.”

Reese did not play for Chicago again. She was suspended half a game for her comments, which were deemed “detrimental to the team,” served a separate mandatory one-game suspension by the WNBA for receiving eight technical fouls during the season and missed the final three games of the season with what was listed as a back injury.

The Sky said in a statement Monday that the “trade is designed to achieve roster balance and represents a great opportunity for all parties.”

“Angel has achieved many record-breaking milestones in her first two years in the WNBA and has been a competitive force for the Sky,” the team wrote. “We are thankful for her many important contributions to this league and this game, and we know she will continue to have a big impact on the court and beyond.”

Reese joins an Atlanta team that went 30-14 and finished first in the Eastern Conference before losing to the Indiana Fever in the first round of the playoffs. The roster includes Allisha Gray, who finished fourth in the MVP voting last season, as well as sixth player of the year Naz Hillmon and All-Star Brionna Jones.

“Angel is a dynamic talent and a perfect fit for what we are building in Atlanta,” Dream general manager Dan Padover said in a statement. “She has already proven herself as one of the most impactful players in the league, and her competitiveness, production and drive to win align seamlessly with our vision. This is an exciting moment for our organization and our fans.”

The Associated Press contributed to this report.

Meadow, a father of three, died after he drowned “with probable hypothermia” and “submersion of body in cold water,” his death certificate said.

His death was ruled an accident.

The 25-year-old fell overboard while crabbing on a fishing boat off the coast of Alaska and was pronounced dead on February 25 at 5:15pm.

His body was recovered minutes after he fell, but the several attempts to resuscitate him were unsuccessful.

Deadliest Catch star’s harrowing final moments as rescue harness snaps

His death was caught on camera while filming the long-running Discovery Channel series.

Deadliest Catch premiered in 2005, giving insight into the harsh conditions fishing crews face on the Bering Sea.

His mother, Angela, told TMZ that the family doesn’t want the footage to be aired.

“We don’t want to see any footage of the accident and do not want Discovery to air any of that footage or make money off of our son’s death,” she said.

“We hope they only air good things of Todd on that boat.”

Captain Rick Shelford called February 25 “the most tragic day in the history of the Aleutian Lady on the Bering Sea.”

“Todd was the newest member of our crew, he quickly became family,” Shelford said.

“His love for fishing and his strong work ethic earned everyone’s respect right away.”

The crew later broke their silence revealing Meadows’ tragic final moments.

The crew said he was left blue and foaming at the mouth after they tried to save him numerous times.

Deckhand Trey John Green III told Page Six that Meadows ended up in the water following an incident with one of the traps used to catch shellfish.

The crew ran to the back of the boat to immediately keep their eyes on Meadows after he hit the water.

“I see Todd. He’s floating, he’s swimming. He’s got huge baby blue eyes. And I can still, probably from like 100 yards away, I could still see his eyes looking around,” Green said.

“Todd was still alive, he’s still swimming, he’s still trying to hang in there.

“We get next to him, and then Steve [Porter] — Steve is the — every boat has a designated rescue swimmer for this exact kind of scenario. Steve was already geared up and was already in the diving suit.”

Green said that when Porter jumped into the water to save Meadows, the harness attached to the crane broke.

Other crew members managed to get a life sling into the water quickly, but when Meadows was “halfway up” and “almost back on the boat,” he fell back into the sea.

“The second time we went to go lift him up, Todd was just — he was lifeless,” Green recalled.

“He didn’t have any more — like I said, the first time, he was fighting, trying to get onto the sling. And then the second time, he was just — he was lifeless.”

Green said Meadows was only in the water for “three or four minutes” before they got him back on the boat, but at that point he began “turning blue.”

“I just want to reiterate that — everybody did everything they could do,” Green said.

A GoFundMe was created after Meadows’ death, which has since raised over $56,000 for his family and his three sons.

Meadows’ mother revealed that the 25-year-old suffered a concussion just weeks before his death.

The head injury left him unable to return to work for several weeks.

He returned to Washington to recover, which was the last week his family saw him, Angela said.

“The last photo I got of him was when he was building a fire. He was listening to music in the moment and was so happy,” she said.

“That’s how I want to remember him.”

Eurovision Song Contest chaos as star faces copyright investigation

The Luxembourg entry for the Eurovision Song Contest is under investigation after their song held similarities to the singer Birdy’s song Keeping Your Head Up

Luxembourg has been thrown into chaos regarding its participation in this year’s Eurovision Song Contest after its entry’s song is facing a copyright investigation.

Mother Nature by Eva Marija has been accused of being almost identical to the 2016 hit song “Keeping Your Head Up” by singer Birdy. It emerged that the chorus of the song is similar to Birdy’s, prompting her team to launch an investigation.

Now, a spokesperson for the singer has said that they are aware of the situation. In a statement, they said: “The Birdy camp is now aware, and they are reviewing. And the Luxembourg broadcaster RTL confirmed that it was exploring the suggestion of copyright infringement.”

Meanwhile, a spokesperson for Luxembourg broadcaster RTL told The Sun: “We, the Eurovision team, take the discussions about possible copyright infringements seriously and want to deal with them transparently.”

But this is not the first time the legendary song contest has had its fair share of disruption. Back in 2024, the final aired from Malmö in Sweden. However, the run-up to the show was blighted by boycotts and even arrests.’

The Dutch actor Joost Klein was told that were not allowed to perform after an alleged heated argument, which reportedly turned physical.

But it wasn’t just that; the contest was thrown into further chaos as people gathered to protest against Israel’s inclusion despite the country’s war with Palestine. Activist Greta Thunberg was also seen supporting the pro-Palestine protesters. The protests occurred outside the Swedish arena.

In the wave of Joost Klein’s disqualification, the Dutch radio Avrotos found the punishment “disproportionate” and “very heavy.” A petition was even generated in support of the act to perform in the final.

And this year is now facing its own drama after would-be UK host Scott Mills was sacked by the BBC over issues with his personal conduct. The Mirror also understands that the allegation concerns a relationship from three decades ago. The BBC’s decision to axe Scott relates to a 2016 police investigation into “serious sexual offences” against a boy in his teenage years.

At the time, Scott was questioned by police under caution, but the case was not pursued due to insufficient evidence. But the Mirror believes that the sacking relates to the individual.

At the time, Director General Tony Hall was not aware of the “full picture”, including the accuser’s age, although it’s unclear if other managers did. However, after learning about the age in the last week, the newer management took swift action.

The TV and radio presenter had been a regular face when it came to the international competition, but now speculation over who is to replace him has hit fever pitch.

This year, the event is set to be hosted in Austria with LookMumNoComputer representing the United Kingdom. According to The Sun, Sara Cox and Rylan Clark, who have been regulars at the broadcaster for many years, are likely candidates to replace Scott Mills.

Last year, the sacked presenter was open about his eagerness to return to hosting the contest. He said at the time: “Eurovision is like a melting pot and we’re all there for the same reason and everyone can chat and talk about what songs they like and what they don’t like.”

He added: “We absolutely adore it, it’s our World Cup. I look forward to it so much, and that’s what’s magical about it. Everyone’s there for the same reason.”

The Mirror has contacted a rep for the Luxembourg Eurovision entry.
