THE girlfriend of Red Hot Chili Peppers rocker Anthony Kiedis has clapped back at criticism of their 33-year age gap relationship.

In a passionate essay published in Vogue, Eileen Kelly, 30, admitted it was her “first time dating someone significantly older” and joked she had been “missing out my whole life”.

While the American writer and podcaster did not name the Scar Tissue hitmaker, 63, directly, he was clearly referenced, and she told how he had “had more time to get his s**t together”.

Seattle-based Eileen noted in the lengthy piece: “My own boyfriend is more than twice my age, which is either alarming or impressive, depending on who you ask.

“It’s my first time dating someone significantly older, and sometimes I joke with friends that I’ve been missing out my whole life.

“There is something to be said for a man who’s simply had more time to get his sh**t together, and my much older boyfriend seems genuinely excited to be with me — not like he’s biding his time before he can swipe for someone better.

“He is fully aware that he’s one lucky b*****d”.

She went on to detail how the pair first met at a birthday party and bonded over her recent trip to Hawaii, where they discovered he had a property in the exact same location.

In an interview in June 2025, she first revealed their relationship when she told she was dating an older man.

In the November, the pair were then spotted together.

The writer added how their “age gap didn’t register at first” then quizzed: “Is it really so difficult to imagine that connection can exist across generations, and that two people of different ages can find something real in each other?”

Previously, alongside her solo Instagram selfies, fans have expressed concern about the partnership.

One recently wrote: “Wondering what kind of new beginnings you’re looking for with Anthony LOL good luck with that.

“Not jealous just stating a fact.

“Ya I am Anthony’s supporter but I know as well as his fans that’s probably not what he is looking for. Just being honest”.

Yet fans were quick to defend the journalist and one wrote: “Because it’s her life and she’s having fun”.

Seemingly defying the trolls, she posted snaps from her “happy place” Hawaii — which means a lot to the pair after being the subject of their first conversation.

In an essay, posted in the same publication in December, she told how she was “aware” how she had never been engaged or had a joint bank account with a partner.

Previously, Californication vocalist Anthony — who has spoken openly about his rough childhood and drug addictions — told how his son Everly Bear keeps him on the straight and narrow,

Although clean of drugs and drink since 2000, Anthony said: “As every heroin addict will know, temptation is always there. But becoming a father has given me a reason to live and stay clean for good.”

Anthony first tried to quit drugs in 1988 after losing the band’s original
guitarist, 26-year-old Hillel Slovak through a heroin overdose, but relapsed five years later.

He says: “Every day since has been a battle to stay clean, but my son makes me thankful that I am. I feel very lucky.”

He shares his son, now 18, with his model ex Heather Christie.

Julie prepares to head to Nigel’s care home to collect his belongings, where she is soon joined by Sam and Phil for support. Julie finds a letter from Nigel, but she can’t bring herself to read it.

Ian is consumed by his councillor campaign but is upset to discover that the majority of supporters are voting for Elaine. Ian turns to bribery, but Bea has other ideas when she starts a smear campaign against Elaine.

Ian and Elaine anxiously prepare for the Walford debate, but things go awry when Oscar swaps Ian’s speech, but Elaine steps in to sway his nerves. But a moment leaves Ian fuming, and he agrees to let Bea post the video about Elaine.

He regrets this but the damage is done. Also next week, a discovery saddens Kat and Alfie, Sam supports Denise, and Harry agrees to lend Gina some money landing them in trouble with Nicola.

Finally, Grant offers support to Linda amid her drama with Johnny, who is having money problems, while Linda is jealous of Max and Cindy. It’s soon clear Max is thinking about Linda, and he’s not happy to find out she’s slept with someone.

EastEnders isn’t the only soap with drama next week, as Hollyoaks spoilers tease there’s plenty in the village too. Vicky wakes up from her coma, and Charlie and Frankie plead with her to echo their lies about the crash.

Later, Vicky lets slip to Misbah that it was Gemma who has been prescribing her the skinny jabs. Knowing time isn’t on her side, Diane tells Tony they need to tell Eva, Sinead and Finn the truth.

Ro is worried it’s too much for his mum, while he’s also left torn when he finds out Ste cheated on Rex with James. Cleo is determined to get proof that Sienna has been swapping her psychosis medicine for multi-vitamins.

After a confrontation, Cleo wakes to find Sienna watching her, wanting to know if she still loves her. Cleo claims there’s a way back for them as long as she does what’s right. Soon, Mercedes and Warren make a shocking discovery.

HARRY Styles and Zoe Kravitz are engaged after an eight-month romance, a report in US outlet Page Six claims.

A source told the site that the former One Direction star, 32, “is completely smitten” and the Batman actress, 37, “is on cloud nine” with the pair now set to tie the knot.

They added: “No one in their circle is surprised.”

Rumours of their engagement had swirled since Zoe was recently spotted wearing a large diamond ring on her finger while kissing her pop-star boyfriend outside a hotel in London.

One onlooker said of the rock: “You couldn’t miss the ring on her finger. It is absolutely huge.”

There had been months of whispers the couple had already taken the next step in their romance.

By January sources said that the Watermelon Sugar singer was Zoe’s “soulmate”.

They were also photographed last month holding hands when arriving at a Saturday Night Live afterparty in New York City.

Harry, whose new album Kiss All The Time. Disco, Occasionally, went straight to No1 last month, is set to head out on tour soon.

He will play a string of shows in Amsterdam before taking over Wembley Stadium in London for a record-breaking 12 concerts.

We surveyed 200-plus luminaries in the book and journalism worlds to make this in-depth list. The voters included prizewinning authors, indie bookstore owners, a Man Booker Prize judge, Ivy League professors, literary agents, lauded journalists and several zealous book club members. To ensure an especially varied selection, the editors gave a final curatorial pass.

The list includes 10 categories for every type of reader, whether you reach for literary fiction or romance. We also crowned an “Ultimate Book Club Pick,” which is the title that received the most votes out of all the books by a landslide, and happens to be eerily prophetic (find it among the “Make-Believers” selections). When perusing our final list of the 101 best book club picks, my eyes popped. My book club had just read two books that made the final cut.

And they were, on average, both our favorite and least favorite of the year. “Martyr” by Kaveh Akbar was layered and moving. “Big Swiss” by Jen Beagin was spicy and fun but too over the top.

Still, both led to fervent conversation peppered with oh-my-gods. So it goes with book clubs: Even if you don’t love what you’re reading, it can still offer something interesting to tease apart.

To make our lineup, The Times surveyed more than 200 authors, publishers, journalists and general book club enthusiasts to select the best book club reads in 10 categories, including romance, mystery, memoir and literary fiction.

SUPERSTAR Cher was left “speechless” when she found out she had a secret granddaughter aged 15.

In an exclusive interview with The Sun on Sunday, the girl’s mum Kayti Edwards says she told the chart legend the bombshell news in an emotional phone call last year.

Ex-model Kayti had a brief romance with 79-year-old Cher’s second son Elijah Allman in 2010 which led to the birth of their daughter, Ever.

Kayti, who lives on a ranch in Joshua Tree, California, explained: “Cher got in touch with me last June and asked if it was true, so I had to confess.

“She said she had heard something about it from Elijah back in 2021, but didn’t know if it was just crazy talk.

“When she heard the news, she was speechless.

“Cher told her family, ‘Oh my God, I’m finally a grandma’.”

Kayti, 49, said she had been friends with Elijah, also 49, for years but they briefly became romantically involved.

The mum-of-four explained: “Elijah and I spent the night together and I fell pregnant.

“He always knew from day one, but he never wanted to be a parent.

“He would pop in every couple of years but would just say hello.

“It wasn’t until 2021, when he overdosed on drugs, that he blurted out to his then-wife that he had a child.

“This is what started the rumours in the family.

“He then sent me a text message to say he wanted to make amends.”

But Kayti says her husband has been Ever’s “true father” throughout her life.

She said: “She has a father who has raised her from day one and that is her dad. I couldn’t ask for a better father for my kids.”

Guitarist Elijah’s history of drug addiction was made public after Cher filed for an emergency conservatorship in 2023.

She claimed he was “substantially unable to manage his own financial resources due to severe mental health issues”.

The pair later resolved the matter privately.

But in June last year, Elijah — who is Cher’s son from her second marriage to the late musician Gregg Allman — was hospitalised for several days after a second overdose.

Kayti explained: “He came back into my life just recently.

“I didn’t know anything about his state.

“But he asked me if he could come to Joshua Tree as he needed to get out of Hollywood.

“As soon as he stepped out of the car, I knew he wasn’t well.

“A few weeks later, he overdosed and was hospitalised, and this was when Cher got in touch.

“She wanted to know what had happened and then she asked me if it was true regarding Ever.

“That’s when I had to tell her the situation.”

Kayti, who owns a horse rescue centre, told how Cher invited her and Ever to her Malibu home last September.

“We went to the house and stayed the night,” she said.

“She was lovely and kind and we had dinner.

“Cher asked Ever if she wanted to see her closet and showed her a pair of jeans she had worn in concert.

“It was a cool experience for her.

“Cher was very childlike.

“They played in the pool and she spoke to Ever about school and asked her about boys.

“She was like a kid herself.”

The Believe hitmaker, who played a glamorous gran in Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again, has previously told how she longed to be a grandma.

On the 2018 press tour for Mamma Mia!, the singer said: “I don’t have any grandchildren.

“I wish I did, I really do.”

Kayti said Cher is still “processing the news” after the shock reveal, but she and Ever — who is a straight-A student — are building a relationship.

She went on: “Cher sent her a Christmas card and present.

“It was a Chrome Hearts hoodie.

“And then for her birthday, she sent her some money and Chrome Hearts sweats.

“She called her and they spoke on the phone.

“Cher is really trying.

“It’s an adjustment and I’m not pushing any relationship.

“It has to come naturally.

“Elijah and his wife always said Cher didn’t want to be a grandma and to keep Ever away, so I was nervous to introduce her, but it’s been nothing but a good experience.”

Kayti said Elijah wanted to be a part of Ever’s life, which is why he went to Joshua Tree.

She said: “He wanted to see her and have a relationship with her, but he wasn’t in any fit state.

“She thought he was just a family friend at that point.

“I had to shelter her from him and, when he gets better, he will appreciate that.

“Cher is also very protective of Ever and the family dynamic and she knows Elijah’s state and wants to protect that from her, too.

“He needs to get back to being the guy I once knew, and Cher agrees.

“We need to get him better.”

Kayti told Ever that Elijah was her father last month when rumours started to swirl after he was arrested for allegedly assaulting someone at an elite school.

Elijah reportedly told cops he was a “prospective father”, which caused mass speculation online.

Days later, he was arrested again for allegedly breaking into a house.

He is currently in jail awaiting trial in New Hampshire.

With her voice cracking, Kayti said: “Elijah did this.

“I’m only speaking about this now because I want this to be my story.

“I would have kept it under wraps.

“I have to say, Cher loves her son.

“He needs help and, regardless of what anyone says, she goes to any lengths to help him.”

Kayti, who is the step-granddaughter of Mary Poppins star Julie Andrews, said: “I know what it’s like to have a famous grandma and it’s not all it’s cracked up to be.

“I craved the ideal of grandma baking cookies in the kitchen with me, but it wasn’t like that.

“We had cooks and were raised by nannies.

“To talk to my grandma, I had to call her assistant.

“They are busy women in Hollywood.

“It’s not a normal life and I never wanted that for Ever.

“But I think she thinks Cher is pretty cool — I mean, she’s a pretty cool grandma.”

Cher is reportedly in talks with Netflix over a TV documentary deal worth £12.6million.

The singer, who turns 80 in May, found fame in 1965 as part of the folk-rock duo Sonny & Cher, with her first husband Sonny Bono.

She went on to become one of the best-selling music artists in history.

Kayti added: “We are dealing with Elijah and once he gets settled and in a place that is more stable, we can sit down and talk about this situation.

“I don’t want this to change Ever’s life.

“We all need to heal.”
