Fans of Bridgerton are set to be captivated by a tale of “forbidden love” set in 1920s Mauritius.
Starring Ellie Bamber and Mehdi Dehbi, the film is described as a “haunting, tragic love story” that is “woven into a complex tapestry of beauty and brutality”.
Willow star Ellie plays Lucy, a 17-year-old who has been orphaned and so is sent to live with her uncle George on the idyllic island, where everything seems perfect thanks to its turquoise waters and golden sugarcane fields.
However, all is not what it seems and beneath the beauty of the island “lurks a sinister system of abuse, oppression, and control”. And Lucy’s uncle, who is played by Rupert Penry-Jones, may not be quite as charming as he appears to start with.
A synopsis said: “As Lucy begins to see the cracks in this picturesque island, she encounters Krishna (Mehdi), an indentured labourer bound to a life in stark contrast to her own. His kindness and quiet defiance awakens something in her that the world around her forbids.
“Both their lives have been shaped, bought, and sold by men who trade in power behind closed doors. In each other, they find freedom and purity.
“Their forbidden love becomes their refuge: a secret island paradise untouched by the ocean of darkness surrounding them.”
“But this paradise cannot last,” it continues. “As the forces determined to keep them apart close in, Lucy and Krishna must decide if their love is worth everything it will cost them.”
The film – which also stars Rhona Mitra and Amy Beth Hayes – is based on the novel Prisoner of Paradise which was written by Romesh Gunesekera.
It was originally due to be called Ambleside, but its name was later changed to Prisoners of Paradise.
The movie is now available to buy in the UK, where it is already drawing fans just days after being unveiled.
“You breathed life into Lucy, captivating us,” one person said on Instagram of Ellie’s performance, as another said: “What a beautiful adventure in paradise.”
Others said it was “amazing” and one person posted a message on the platform saying it was “beautiful”.
Prisoners of Paradise is available to purchase on the Sky Store.

Online speculation only grew with the unveiling of her Petal music video, which was released last week.
In the clip, she plays a rising young star battling the highs and lows of the showbiz world.
The video became a huge topic of conversation all over the world – and it wasn’t because of her song.
Soon after the Petal video went live a representative for Ariana confirmed she would be “taking a step back from visibility after she completes the Eternal Sunshine Tour,” viaPeople.
Despite insisting onstage that her break from the spotlight was planned “a long time ago” she axed plans to star in the West End revival of the classic Stephen Sondheim musical Sunday in the Park with George.
It’s also been rumoured that she’ll no longer be taking part in the press tour for her upcoming movie release Focker-In-Law.

His social media is littered with plenty of shirtless pics as well as being packed full of his impressive fitness content.
Glam Safiyya first began to hint at the romance a few weeks ago before sharing a cosy selfie with Virgil earlier today.
The 38-year-old took to social media to share a sweet tribute to her new romance alongside a snap of them together.
Safiyya wrote: “Happy the universe changed my direction from Thailand to Bali.

“In a world that’s so big we met exactly where we were meant to feel so happy.
“God always gets the timing right. Trust in him always. The most magical connection when you feel it in your soul.”
Safiyya also opened up about her trip to Bali and told followers she’s entering a new chapter of her life.
She said: “There’s something so magical here that has healed parts of my soul I didn’t even realise were still hurting.
“I’ve grown so much. My nervous system has finally experienced what real calm feels like. I’ve let my guard down, allowed myself to be vulnerable, and in doing that, I’ve found friendships and connections that have changed me forever.”
It comes weeks after Ashley, who is also dad so sons Alyias, two, and Atlas, one, from different relationships, was dropped by the BBC over historic social media posts which allegedly showed him making degrading comments about women.
The Ex on the Beach star’s Twitter posts made in 2011 and 2013 are said to have referenced extreme sex acts and appeared to make light of consent.
He reportedly used offensive, sexualised and aggressive language about women.
In reality, the widely-celebrated performer, who was awarded an MBE honour by the late Queen Elizabeth II, generally keeps his personal life out of the spotlight, though he has occasionally offered glimpses into his home life and upbringing.
During his childhood, Justin was required to move around frequently with his parents owing to his father’s career as a highly sought-after music writer, which meant the family often needed to relocate and would regularly welcome some incredibly famous faces to their home.
The beloved TV personality is in fact the second-oldest of five children – with a 12 year age gap between him and his youngest sibling. At an early age, the CBeebies favourite opened up to his father, Guy Fletcher, revealing his ambition to pursue acting and develop his drama studies.
Net Worth
The entertainer has been presenting beloved CBeebies programmes including Gigglebiz and Justin’s House. Yet his greatest achievement has undoubtedly been the show Something Special, which was specifically designed to help children with communication by weaving Makaton signs, speech and symbols throughout.
Having remained a children’s television sensation for more than two decades, it’s hardly surprising that his endearing characters have evolved into a multi-million-pound enterprise.
According to previous reports, his Something Special DVD shifted over 100,000 copies, generating more than £1 million, while an accompanying magazine brought in a monthly income of £180,000. His net worth has therefore been estimated at around £1.5 million.
Stepping down from BBC role
Last year, the television favourite left fans gobsmacked when he revealed he was stepping away from his proudest achievement, Something Special, confirming he was passing the baton to three other presenters.
Following a remarkable 22-year run, during which the show produced 12 series and five specials, Justin decided it was the right moment to hand over to TV stars Maddie Moate, Ben Cajee, and George Webster, who announced the news on social media.
Is Mr Tumble married in real life?
Justin recently revealed that he has fallen in love with his co-star Samantha Dorrance, who plays his best friend Tootsie.
Justin, 55, and Samantha, 34, reportedly fell for each other while working on a panto and travelling on their live tour. In fact, the pair are so smitten that Samantha has moved into his £2.5million farmhouse.
According to The Sun, the couple enjoy nothing more than a quiet life and looking after their chickens.
“Justin and Samantha are madly in love and couldn’t be happier,” a source told the paper. “They are both dedicated performers and bonded over their love of musical theatre. Although there is an age gap, it isn’t an issue between them.”
Who is Mr Tumble’s famous father?
Justin isn’t the only well-known face in the family – his father Guy Fletcher co-wrote songs for legendary artists including Elvis Presley, Ray Charles and Joe Cocker alongside lyricist Doug Flett.
Justin opened up to BBC 6 Music star Chris Hawkins about what it was like growing up immersed in music and the company of musicians, revealing that his character Mr ‘Cliff’ Tumble was in fact a loving tribute to Sir Cliff Richard.
He said: “I was always brought up around musicians and we had a recording studio built onto the house. My character Cliff Tumble is a homage to Sir Cliff, who I’ve met a lot and is lovely, very charming.
“Dad wrote his Eurovision entry Power to All Our Friends. The biggest hit he wrote for Elvis was Just Pretend, which he used to perform in his Vegas shows. Pretty cool, really.”

As a special tribute celebrates the extraordinary 50-year career of Bonnie Tyler, the Mirror takes a look at the Total Eclipse of the Heart icon’s wild life behind the scenes, including the accident that changed everything
Bonnie Tyler died earlier this month(Image: Corbis via Getty Images)
With her unmistakable husky voice and theatrical music videos, there was nobody quite like Bonnie Tyler.
Her unexpected death earlier this month at the age of 75 came as a great sadness to those who’ve followed her distinctive work over the decades.
A legend of ’80s power ballads, many a fan has attempted a karaoke version of Holding Out for a Hero or Total Eclipse of the Heart. But few could hope to hold a candle to Bonnie’s signature rasp and melodramatic stage presence.
The Welsh singer’s extraordinary 50-year career will be celebrated this weekend in a special tribute compilation aired on BBC Two. And it will perhaps surprise no one that magnetic Bonnie’s personal life was every bit as explosive as her musical output.
Little-known real name
While the name Bonnie Tyler may adorn her Platinum-status records, it wasn’t actually the singer’s real name, and it took some time for her to find one that fit.
Britain’s First Lady of Rock was originally christened Gaynor Hopkins, a name she never much cared for as a budding star growing up in the sleepy village of Skewen, near Swansea.
In the early days of her career, young Bonnie began trying out the name Sherene Davies as a stage name, hoping to distinguish herself from the celebrated Welsh folk singer-songwriter, Mary Hopkin, who was just one year her senior.
Speaking with the Leicestershire Press in 2023, Bonnie revealed: “I never really liked my name, so it was a lovely opportunity to change it. My sister had a little girl called Sherene, and I loved that name – it was my name for seven years.”
It wasn’t to stick, however, and after being signed by RCA Records – Elvis Presley’s old label – Bonnie was told that Sherene just wouldn’t do, as it sounded, to their ears, “like a belly dancer”. A search began for a third moniker, with Bonnie taking a creative approach.
She remembered: “I bought two broadsheet newspapers, and I made a list of all the Christian names in one list and all the surnames in another list, and I matched them up until I came up with Bonnie Tyler. It’s been a great name for me, I reckon Steven Tyler must’ve been in the paper that day.”
Scream injury
She is often referred to as ‘the female Rod Stewart’, but the vocal similarities only became apparent after a grim post-surgery accident.
Speaking with the Mirror in 2023, the It’s a Heartache songstress shared how, as her star began to rise in the glitzy ’70s era, belting out ballads began to take a strain. And in 1977, she had to undergo surgery.
Bonnie said: “I started to get a sore throat because all the singing was taking its toll. A doctor discovered that I had nodules on my vocal cords. The only option was for them to be surgically removed. After the procedure, I was told by my surgeons not to talk, let alone sing, for six weeks.”
Unfortunately, after realising she’d forgotten to take strawberries to her brother, Lynn, who was hospitalised with a leg injury, Bonnie momentarily forgot about the doctor’s warning and let out a scream of frustration.
Detailing the incident in her 2023 memoir Straight from the Heart, Bonnie recalled: “I was so frustrated that I’d have to drive all the way back home, I let out an ‘Oh no!’ scream. When I went for a check-up with the specialist, he looked at me and said, ‘You could have done permanent damage’.”
While medics weren’t best pleased, Bonnie’s producer, David Mackay, was impressed by the gravelly sound her vocals produced, once healed. Bonnie said: “I’d always had quite a husky tone to my voice anyway, but as David joked, I now sounded like a female Rod Stewart!”
Marriage to Olympic athlete
Bonnie may have sung about doomed love affairs, but her marriage to a former Olympic judo athlete Robert Sullivan was a long and happy one. The couple first locked eyes back when Bonnie was still singing in Swansea nightclubs, and Robert was a nightclub manager. They tied the knot on July 4, 1973, with Bonnie officially becoming Mrs Gaynor Sullivan – her fourth name.
In a 2012 interview with The Guardian, Bonnie spoke fondly of those early days together, and it appeared the pair were just as smitten as they were as twentysomething newlyweds just starting out. She shared: “I married Robert, my first serious boyfriend, in 1973, when I was 22. I am still very much in love with him and he with me. We never fall out. He is very easy on the eye, which helps.”
And speaking to the Times about Robert, who went into property development after hanging up his judo belt, she said, “I think the secret to our success is that we met before I was famous.
“We don’t have children because we left it too late to stop taking precautions, and then I had a miscarriage when I was 40. I was unlucky, but I love all my nieces and nephews. Our house in Mumbles is like Paddington Station because everyone wants to come and visit Auntie Gaynor.”
Bonnie and Robert owned at least 25 properties together, including 22 homes across Berkshire and London, plus a sizeable farm in New Zealand. However, their seaside home in Mumbles and their villa in Albufeira proved to be their favourites, and it was between these two much-loved residences that they split their time.
Bonnie Tyler at the BBC airs July 25 at 8:30 pm on BBC Two.

KATY PERRY is on tour across Europe and her No1 groupie – former Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau – has been a regular at her shows.
I can reveal he has spent his whole summer following her around on tour, and even brought friends to Europe to spend time on a yacht in between her concerts.

The superstar headlined the famous Isle of MTV concert in Malta on Wednesday — Europe’s largest free concert — and he was there cheering her on.
And we will soon be hearing a lot more from Katy, as I’m told she’s almost completed work on her eighth album, which has been inspired by moving on from long-term partner Orlando Bloom and finding love again with the politician.

That might be a surprise after the recent release of her singles Bandaids and Watch It Burn, which were written early last year and on which she gave Orlando both barrels. But now she’s done with writing break-up songs, telling the Unfamous podcast: “I know the next step I’m going to take.
“Watch It Burn, actually I didn’t need to do a whole EP of this feeling. But I needed to touch it and circle it.
“And now I’m moving on and I’m going to be writing something that is going to represent what I’m feeling now.
“I have to process it. This is my therapy.
“This is my art.”
Wednesday’s concert attracted a crowd of 30,000 fans to Il-Fosos Square for the 18th year of Isle of MTV Malta, staged in partnership with Malta Tourism Authority.

Justin was seen bopping along to her biggest hits from the lighting tower, and she called out to him three times from the stage.
Before singing I’m His, He’s Mine, Katy, who was wearing a vintage costume she wore for an MTV VMAs advert in 2009, gushed: “I’m gonna dedicate this one to my boyfriend.
“I love when he comes to my shows, it always makes me so happy.
“I love you, baby.”

My insider said: “Katy is the happiest she has ever been now that she’s with Justin and she wants to reflect that in the music.
“The end of her relationship with Orlando was one of the hardest things she’s been through but she doesn’t want to dwell on it with the music.
“It’s about owning who she is and holding her head high.
“Justin feels like her soulmate and it’s been really inspiring for her.
“Most of the new album was recorded at the beginning of the year.
“The title Scorpio Bitch was discussed for the album but that’s likely to change as she doesn’t want to come off as too spiky.
“The album is almost done, she’s really proud of what she’s been working on.”
On stage, she was like an excitable, giddy teenager as she called out to him.
So I imagine it will be her most loved-up record ever.
IF you missed out on the chance to see Katy Perry on tour over the past year, you’ll soon be able to catch up on two of her live shows.
Her huge Isle of MTV Malta show will air on MTV on September 18 – showcasing her Out Of Office summer show, which she also performed at Blenheim Palace and Cardiff Castle earlier this month.
But that’s not all. Katy’s concert film The Lifetimes Tour: Live From Paris – recorded during her previous tour last year – is coming to 150 UK cinemas on September 2.
The two-hour film features footage of her singing her biggest hits as part of one of her most ambitious tours ever, plus there’s exclusive backstage footage included.
The tour reached more than one million fans during 91 shows in 23 countries, and raised almost £82,000 for the Music Venue Trust in the UK.

TOM HOLLAND is finally moving forward with his Fred Astaire biopic – but said he’s filled with “dread”.
Five years after revealing he’d be playing the actor and dancer, the Spider-Man star has started rehearsals and is determined to do all the dancing himself.
Speaking on US telly, Tom, who is currently on the promo trail for both The Odyssey and Spider-Man: Brand New Day, said: “What I love about my job is the challenges. We have Fred Astaire next. As soon as I finish these tours, I’m diving back into the dance studio.
“I did my first few rehearsals recently and it both filled me with excitement and absolute dread because I’ve got so much work to do to try to do Fred proud.”
He added he has “a desire to use no doubles” and shoot the dances in one shot as Fred would have done.
K-POP girl group AESPA are hitting up Pinkpantheress in the hope of a collaboration.

JOANNE HAS VAPE ESCAPE
Joanne Mcnally started vaping in the Celebrity Traitors castle, meaning producers had to interveneCredit: Getty
The comedian admitted puffing on an e-cig during filming, which meant producers had to intervene, as it can’t be shown on air.
She admitted: “I remember we were chatting, having a real deep and meaningful.
“And they cut filming. They’re like, ‘Joanne, you can’t vape in the castle’.
“I was really into this conversation, pulling on this vape. Because you feel relaxed in the castle.”
Asked if she forgot the cameras were there, she told the Bottom’s Up podcast: “Totally. And I always thought that was horses**t when I’d watch Big Brother before.
“I was like, ‘As if you could forget the cameras were there’. But you do, actually.”
I hope it doesn’t lead to her being smoked out when it airs in the autumn.
BURLESQUE The Musical’s UK tour will not open at Woking Theatre tomorrow, with the week-long run being cancelled just 48 hours before it was due to start.
The show starring Corrie’s Faye Brooks, has been plagued with a series of issues and is now scheduled to launch on August 6 at the Sunderland Empire. The London run has been postponed to 2027.
HEEL AND BACK FOR JACOB
JACOB ELORDI has revealed he broke both heels earlier this year.
The 6ft 5in actor said he “jumped off something” and suffered the painful injury – forcing him to withdraw as a juror at Cannes Film Festival.
Speaking on US TV the Wuthering Heights star said: “I broke both my heels earlier this year. I jumped off something.”
It happened as Nate Jacobs, his character in Euphoria, was having his toes and fingers cut in graphic scenes on the show.
Jacob, who is dating Kendall Jenner, added: “I was in a cast and a moon boot at the same time Nate was getting his digits cut off.
“Everyone thought it was hilarious, like, ‘Oh, method acting!’ I was like, ‘Yeah, I cut my f***ing toe off.’”

The book itself had sparked massive controversy due to the character’s shocking more than four decade age-gap.
As filming began in New York City, Gere and actress Diana Silvers were snapped getting cosy on set.
The Hollywood star embraced and held hands with his much younger co-star, with the two keeping things strictly professional off-screen.
The pair shot scenes on a bench in Central Park, which is a crucial scene where the two characters meet, before beginning a steamy romance.
The actor can be seen in a white shirt and jeans as he sits alongside Diana who’s styled in a floral mid length dress.
Both stars were also seen walking around the park laughing and smiling together.
Oscar-winning producer Edward Zwick is directing and writing the film.

Pretty woman actor Gere, is happily married within his own age-gap marriage to his 43-year-old wife Alejandra Silva.
From 1991-1995 he was also married to supermodel Cindy Crawford.
The star has starred in many blockbuster hits, but when he was 41 he was cast in Pretty Woman.
The film, which came out in 1990, saw him star alongside Julia Roberts – and told the story of a romance between a wealthy businessman and a Sunset Boulevard prostitute.
At the time he was already a famous face in Hollywood after the huge success of An Officer and a Gentleman in 1982.
In 2002 he appeared in the film version of the musical Chicago which won six Academy Awards including Best Picture in 2003.
Love Island fans were left “heartbroken” for Ellie Chadwick after it was reported that she had quit the series for good after a tumutlous romance with Finley Maddock

Love Island fans were left “heartbroken” for Ellie Chadwick after it was reported that she had quit the series for good and the reason why appeared to emerge during the latest episode.
The real estate videographer, 24, had been taking part in the hit ITV2 reality dating series and was enjoying a blossoming romance with Finley Maddock, but it all started to go wrong when he fell for a bombshell who entered the villa.
During Tuesday night’s episode of the series, Maya Jama told the Islanders they were to play a brand-new game called If You Know, You Know, in which the contestants had to wear blindfolds and headphones.
When their phone vibrated, each couple had to make their way to a podium to read out a controversial statement and then guess who it was who said it in the first place.
One couple read out the claim that “One half of this couple is secretly bored but too polite to admit it” and it was then that Finley said he was “a bit bored.”
The dramatic scenes aired shortly after it was reported that Ellie had walked out of the villa for good, and shocked fans instantly took to social media to predict it was the catalyst.
Taking to X, formerly known as Twitter, one fan said: “Finley has said he is bored of Ellie ??” and another said: “I don’t want to believe Ellie self-evicted for a man who literally said he got bored of her.”
Another said: “Omg Finley said that and they were all in ears to take Ellie back woow see how they are all in each other’s business but will be coming for Julia!”
Another wrote: “Oh was that boring comment to do with why Ellie left?” and a fifth said: “Finley said he’s bored with Ellie! That boy just keeps humiliating her!” On Facebook, one fan explained: “The received a statement that said this couple is one sided and one person is bored, which Finley had said to Kav in private apparently and it never came out, Ellie was clearly upset.”
Another replied: “OMG that heartbreaking for Ellie” and left a sad face emoji to emphasise how they felt. Just before the episode aired, it was reported that Ellie chose to quit the programme altogether, reportedly stemming from hearing the results of a viewer poll for favourite boy and favourite girl, even though she was not dumped by the public.
A source said: “Viewers have seen Ellie threatening to leave across recent episodes, so the news of her now quitting won’t feel like a surprise.
“But in real time, her and Fin reconnected at the recoupling a few days ago so her decision to now leave is a shock. Viewers will see the dramatic action play out in an episode soon.”
The reality star had threatened to quit before, when it looked like Finley had begun to take an interest in Elicia Bailey. In Tuesday night’s episode, she was apparently back together with him, but that was all filmed days ago, and now Ellie has actually left.
Speaking to The Sun, the source added: “The whole fallout of the vote was electric and is going to make for amazing TV. Everyone was devastated that Ellie left, and viewers will definitely be left scratching their heads.”
The pair have been dating for several years, got engaged in 2021, and also share two children. So with Mollie and Stuart on Celebrity Gogglebox this week, we’re taking a look inside their romance.
Mollie and Stuart’s initial split
Mollie and Stuart started dating in 2012, but the relationship ended less than a year later. They eventually rekindled their romance, became engaged, and now share two children – but it nearly never got off the ground.
Stuart revealed that his demanding cricket schedule, combined with Mollie’s busy career, made maintaining their relationship extremely challenging. “Typical of young professionals, we were all over the place,” he wrote in his 2023 autobiography, Broadly Speaking.
“In early 2013, I flew off to India for some one-dayers and then on to New Zealand. Mollie went to film in Los Angeles, and despite really enjoying each other’s company, being at opposite ends of the world didn’t help us stay in touch.
“It is fair to say we were two people putting their careers first at that stage in our lives. I would never have guessed how big an impact she would have later on mine.”
Mollie and Stuart’s engagement
Fast forward to 2019 and Mollie and Stuart gave it another go – and their relationship took a decisive turn during a make-or-break trip to Paris, which helped them reconnect. Two years later, they got engaged.
To celebrate, Mollie shared snaps of the couple on Instagram, showing off her dazzling diamond engagement ring. She captioned the post: “A thousand times yes! I still can’t believe it, the most magical start to the new year! I can’t wait to spend all my years with you @stuartbroad.”
According to Stuart, though, the engagement almost never happened because someone was sitting on the bench where he planned to pop the question to Mollie.
“I was like, ‘Aaargghh!’ I gave him the eyes to suggest he moved on, but after doing another loop of the park, he was still there,” Stuart wrote in his autobiography.
“So I persuaded Mollie to go round once more. Next time, he’d gone. We had about 15 minutes of enjoying the moment together before we walked up to the highest point of the hill and, to Mollie’s surprise, we were greeted by her mum and dad, who I’d arranged to be standing waiting at the top so she could share the excitement of the moment with them.”
In 2022, Mollie gave birth to a daughter, Annabelle, while their second daughter, Liliana, arrived in January 2025.
Sad reason Molly has yet to plan wedding
Despite being engaged for a long time, Mollie recently revealed that she has been putting off marrying because she “can’t bear to think” about her wedding following the death of her father.
Her dad, Stephen, was diagnosed with a brain tumor in 2022, and he died in November of that year, just days after Mollie gave birth to her daughter, Annabella – and the singer has admitted she “struggles” to think about planning her big day without her father by her side.
“It [dad’s illness] happened so quickly, out of nowhere. I was in the final stage of the pregnancy, so it was incredibly tough. I’m so grateful Dad was able to meet my daughter and see me in this phase of my life,” she told The Times.
Mollie added, “I can’t bear to think about my wedding without Dad being there. Elements like walking down the aisle without him, I still struggle with. There needs to be a gap so I can process it all.”
Meanwhile, also talking about Mollie’s father’s death, Stuart wrote in his autobiography: “Sadly, he did not have long to live, and we felt that he was hanging on for Annabella’s arrival. It was of great comfort to Mollie that, despite this horrible disease, Steve was able to hold Annabella in his arms.
“He died, surrounded by his girls, 11 days after she was born. It was an unbelievably emotional time for Mollie — having the incredible joy at the birth of our beautiful baby while at the same time dealing with the grief of the devastating loss of her dad.
“I really don’t know how she managed it. I’m in awe of her inner strength and how she coped with both emotions.”
Celebrity Gogglebox airs every Friday at 9pm on Channel 4
Entertainment power couple Margaret Qualley and Jack Antonoff have reportedly gone their separate ways for now.
“The Substance” and “Maid” star Qualley, 31, and Taylor Swift and Lorde collaborator Antonoff, 42, split and are going through a “rocky” time in their relationship, a source confirmed to People on Wednesday. Neither representatives for Qualley nor Antonoff immediately responded on Wednesday to The Times’ request for comment.
Speculation about the pair’s split began late Tuesday, with internet sleuths noting that Qualley — daughter of actor Andie MacDowell and Paul J. Qualley — apparently scrubbed photos featuring the Bleachers frontman from her Instagram page. Qualley in March shared photos from her A-list marriage to Antonoff to promote his upcoming song “Dirty Wedding Dress,” according to a social media page dedicated to the “Once Upon a Time … in Hollywood” actress. Those intimate black-and-white images are no longer visible on the actor’s page.
Reports of the Qualley-Antonoff split also come less than a week after Antonoff attended Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce’s lavish, but secretive, wedding bash in New York City sans Qualley. In addition to Antonoff, his fashion designer sister Rachel Antonoff and his ex-girlfriend Lena Dunham, models Gigi Hadid and Karlie Kloss, Sabrina Carpenter, Ashanti and Nelly were also in attendance at the Madison Square Garden spectacular.
Notably, Dunham in her latest memoir “Famesick” — released in April — wrote about Antonoff’s alleged romance with a “teen pop star” during their own romance. Many pop fans suspect the pop star, whom Dunham did not identify — to be “Melodrama” artist Lorde. When the rumors of the relationship publicly surfaced in 2018, Antonoff denied “seeing anyone” and dismissed the chatter as “dumb hetero normative gossip.”
Qualley and Antonoff tied the knot in August 2023, a little over a year after they got engaged in May 2022. Their nuptials at Parker’s Garage on Long Beach Island counted Cara Delevingne, Lana Del Rey, then-item Zoë Kravitz and Channing Tatum and Swift among the attendees.
Qualley and former fun. member Antonoff were first romantically linked in August 2021 when they were spotted kissing while on a date in Brooklyn, People reported. Their relationship gradually entered public consciousness, between Instagram posts, joint appearances at red carpet events and tidbits about their romance in various interviews.
“I am so happy that I found my person,” Qualley told Harpers Bazaar in September 2023. “And it’s real. It’s amazing. It’s the best feeling in the world. I’m so excited and so at ease all at once.”
Everyone knew going in that Lionel Messi would be the narrative centerpiece of the 2026 World Cup. Easily the most recognized name in the competition, Messi is considered by many to be the greatest soccer player of all time and, as the captain of 2022 winner Argentina, he is the reigning World Cup champ. At 18, he scored his first World Cup goal in 2006 and has competed in every World Cup since. He celebrated his 39th birthday before this year’s knockout rounds began, so it’s not unreasonable to assume that this will be his last.
No matter what Messi did, or failed to do, it would be News. Everyone with even a passing interest in the event knew this. Including me.
But I didn’t expect to completely fall for the guy. He’s a professional male athlete, for heaven’s sake, and I don’t emotionally invest in professional male athletes. Admire some of them, sure; watch with bated breath and then scream in astonishment when they pull off some amazing feat or another, absolutely. But the only athletes that have ever touched my heart have been women — Nadia Comăneci; Billie Jean King and the Title IX-sparking stars of women’s tennis; Dorothy Hamill; Brandi Chastain and 1999 Women’s World Cup winners; Venus and Serena Williams; Simone Biles; Caitlin Clark.
But here I am, at age 62, truly, madly, deeply in love with Lionel Messi.
I know, I know, me and half the world. Which normally would serve as an effective prophylactic. I am habitually wary of super-intense fandoms and the men who inspire them; stadiums filled with people chanting a single name inevitably set off internal alarm bells. As I have asked several times in columns throughout the years, how many “heroes” must we watch falter under pressure or be exposed for decidedly unheroic acts before we wise up and get out of the pedestal-placement business?
Yet here I am, stalking him on Instagram, up all hours flicking through interviews and career highlight clips. (I even watched the Apple TV docuseries “Messi Meets America”!) Here I am, literally praying to God, who clearly has more important things to do, for Argentina to advance and screaming Messi’s name every time he scores, assists or pretty much does anything at all.
In a matter of weeks, I have become addicted not just to watching the man play but seeing how he reacts when a shot is made or a game won.
Every World Cup player is happy when they or their team scores, but Messi is delighted. Like a kid seeing a puppy under the tree on Christmas morning. Like he cannot believe this wonderful thing that has just happened even if he was the one who sweat and ran and defied physics to make it happen.
His smile is infectious and even when he is running toward the stands, arms spread wide, after making some impossible shot or other, it never seems self-congratulatory. He is simply filled with joy and wants to spread it around. The field, the stadium, the world.
And his hugs. Long, deep, radiating emotion, utterly unself-conscious. Everyone needs to find someone who hugs them like Messi hugs people — teammates, coaches, opposing players, young fans. I could watch videos of him hugging his mentor and former teammate Ronaldinho or Argentina coach Lionel Scaloni all day long. (I’m not saying I have, nor am I saying I haven’t.)
Sometimes the hype gets a bit nauseating — former teammates who claim he never makes a mistake, commentators who refer to him as superhuman (despite the fact that he has missed as many penalty kicks as he has made in this World Cup). Whether Messi himself agrees that he is the GOAT is none of my business, but he doesn’t act like many sports stars who have received similar adulation. He doesn’t peacock, he doesn’t preen; he is visibly angry with himself when he doesn’t produce. He isn’t perfect — in various past games, he has gotten into heated disputes and shoving matches and famously (and many believe deservedly) taunted Netherlands coach Louis van Gaal during World Cup 2022. But for a man who has been such a star for so long, he presents himself as simply a player among players. The captain, certainly, but not the most important person on the field.
That is the most lovable, and superhuman, thing about him.
It feels pretty basic, not to mention embarrassing, to have a sudden summer crush on Messi, but I don’t care. He’s married to his childhood sweetheart, has three adorable sons and a picture of his mother tattooed on his back. He lets his teammates hoist him in the air and allows sports commentators to regularly (and lovingly) refer to him as “Little Messi.” He gets angry sometimes, but in this tournament he has yet to noticeably hector the refs or rumble with his opponents. He wants to win, obviously, but his joy comes from playing the game well rather than defeating another team.
That’s why, despite my newfound addiction to Messi delight, the moment I loved him best was when he didn’t celebrate at all. In the round of 32, Argentina (No. 2 in FIFA rankings) seemed guaranteed a win over Cape Verde (67). But even with Messi’s early goal, the game was a nail-biter, with Cape Verde scoring two brilliant goals while their goalie Vozinha made eight saves, including four shots (one of them a free kick) from Messi. After Argentina won in additional playing time, there was none of the usual jubilation. Instead, a subdued Messi walked to the midfield to shake hands with his opponents, a sign of exhaustion, no doubt, but also of respect. He hugged Vozinha and told him that his country should be proud of him.
The exuberance was back Tuesday, however, when, after trailing Egypt for most of the round of 16 game, Argentina managed to pull off the comeback of the tournament, going from a 0-2 deficit to a 3-2 win after the 79th minute, with Messi scoring the tying goal.
This time, the smiles, the hugs, the radiant joy filling Atlanta Stadium could have powered the entire state of Georgia. This time, Messi was so happy, he wept.
So did I. The World Cup is over in less than two weeks, and France and Spain are currently the 1-2 favorites to win the thing. My love for Messi is, after all, just a summer romance.
And as with any summer romance, I want it to last forever.
Coronation Street fans think Kevin Webster could be about to rekindle his longstanding romance Abi amid the family tragedy, almost a year after it emerged she had had an affair with the man he thought was his long-lost brother but then turned out to be his long-lost nephew
Kevin was the first to comfort Abi in hospital
Kevin Webster could be about to rekindle his romance with Abi – almost a year after they separated. The mechanic has been played by Michael Le Vell since 1983 and has been central to many of the soap’s biggest storylines, many of them involving his ex-wife Sally (Sally Dynevor), and their daughters,Rosie (Helen Flanagan) and Sophie (Brooke Vincent).
They called time on their marriage in 2010 after Kevin had an affair with Molly Dobbs and although they have been on relatively good terms since, Sally married Tim Metcalfe in the years that followed and Kevin later tied the knot with Abi Franklin in 2021.
On the latest episode of the world’s longest-running TV soap, Abi was faced with horror when she had to rush her young son Alfie, who is the product of her affair with the late Imran Habeeb, for treatmentand it became apparent that mould was causing him to suffer severe respiratory issues.
Abi has been living in one of the flats at Weatherfield Precinct, and her landlord is newcomer Idris Sharma, the cousin of established character Alya (Sair Khan). When Abi was delivered the bad news by the doctor in the hospital, she said through tears: “It means it’s not just an infection. There’s something really wrong. I’m going to lose him!” and instantly turned to Kevin for comfort.
While all this was going on, Idris had become aware of what was going on and recruited teenager Brody Michaelis, whom he has taken under his wing, to deal with the situation. Paying the teenager to bundle a man named Isaac into the back of his car, they pulled up at an unknown location and Idris told him: “You know why you’re here. You put a kid in hospital.
“I don’t let people live like animals. Thanks to you, I’m the bad guy. And for my loss of reputation, you pay. And if I have to come and find you, believe me, it’ll be ten times worse. Think on that.” With Brody still keeping tightly hold of him, Idris drove off and later paid the teenager for his help.
But unbeknownst to to Idris and Brody, Abi had watched the whole kidnap and informed Sally, who is currently acting as a foster mother towards Brody, about what she saw.
Brody, whose father is in prison for murder, told Idris that the whole thing wasn’t really for him but the dodgy landlord continued to pressure him into things.
Reacting to the dramatic scenes, viewers predicted that Abi, who lost her son Seb when he was murdered in an unprovoked attack and also has a few children in the care system, will get back together with Kevin however her latest melodrama turns out.
Taking to X, one fan said: “Honestly, with Kev and Abi being on good terms I’m surprised she hasn’t moved back in with him. Abi can’t lose another kid ffs!”
Another said: “The fact it’s has been 9 months and Abi still hasn’t changed her name back to Franklin, and now they are having her move back into number 13 with Kev and carl supporting her. I am praying they don’t do what I think they are going to do #corrie.”
“I’m surprised dopey Kev hasn’t taken Abbeh back already,” a follower commented, as a Twitter user added: “I wonder if this new storyline for Abi and Alfie will lead to Kevin and Abi getting back together.”
An ‘exquisite’ period romance adaptation is available for free on BBC iPlayer and fans say it’s the best version of this classic tale
‘Mesmerising’ period drama on BBC iPlayer fans say is ‘exquisite’
The iconic tome has been adapted many times over the years – could this be the best?
BBC iPlayer is currently hosting a “masterpiece” adaptation of a much-loved classic novel, available for just one more month. Having aired on Sunday 5th July on BBC Two, the 1943 adaptation of Charlotte Brontë’s Jane Eyre can be streamed on the platform for the next 29 days.
Widely regarded as one of the greatest novels ever penned, this enduring story follows a young woman who, after losing her parents at an early age, is dispatched to a harsh boarding school. A decade on, she takes up a position as a governess to a young girl, the ward of the mysterious and imposing master of Thornfield Hall.
Little by little, she finds herself falling for her unpredictable employer, all while beginning to unravel his deeply buried secrets.
Helmed by Robert Stevenson, best known for directing Disney’s much-cherished Mary Poppins, this underappreciated Gothic romance from Hollywood’s golden age features Joan Fontaine as Jane and Orson Welles as Mr Rochester.
Film enthusiasts have long maintained that it stands amongst the finest screen adaptations of Brontë’s novel ever committed to film. It’s an absolute must for viewers who have lapped up recent period romances such as Wuthering Heights and The Other Bennet Sister, or are eagerly anticipating the forthcoming versions of Jane Austen’s Sense and Sensibility and Pride and Prejudice, reports the Express.
One glowing 10/10 review from an IMDb user declared that, while other renditions of Jane Eyre are equally stunning, fans should “see this to be fully satisfied”.
“This is simply an exquisite film,” they continued. “Film-making at its best in every respect; and while not as letter-perfectly definitive as the 1983 miniseries, I feel it is overall the best, truest version of JANE EYRE.”
Another film enthusiast commented: “While not staying completely true to the book, this is still the best version of Jane Eyre ever made.
“Joan Fontaine is plain but still beautiful and Orson Welles is absolutely powerful and alluring. The chemistry these two share is on screen phenomenal.”
As if that weren’t sufficient, they added: “The scene where they kiss is the most powerful and most beautiful kiss I have ever seen.”
Someone else declared it “A masterpiece!” and wrote: “Magnificent is the only word that can be applied to this remarkable film. It represents Hollywood’s ability to make the occasional brilliant movie when all aspects of the film-making craft come together in such talented union.
“I first saw this film as a very young child, and it gripped and enthralled me then as it still does all these years later. Romantic, gothic and mesmerising, it is as near faultless as it is possible for any movie to be.”
And one final admirer went even further, gushing: “In my opinion, this is the best movie ever made. It’s sweet and romantic, and true to the book. Joan Fontaine is great as the title role, and I think this is Orson Welles in his finest performance.”
Period drama enthusiasts should make certain this gem is at the top of their watchlist before it ceases to be available free of charge at the month’s end.
EXCLUSIVE: Rae Knopik, 31, was always determined to find out more about her Italian roots, and now she’s able to dive into her history further than she ever imagined after winning a €1 (86p) home in Troina with the love of her life
Couple meet in Italy and win €1 house
A couple managed to snap up a €1 (86p) home in Italy after finding love in the romantic country. Rae Knopik, 31, had always been determined to explore her Italian heritage, and now she’s able to delve into her roots further than she ever dreamed possible. The social media personality, who has amassed over 35,000 followers on Instagram eager to follow her adventures, opened up about how she managed to secure her dream home alongside her fiancé Declan Norrie, 31.
Rae, who is American, explained that her family originally hails from Sicily. Her ancestors ended up settling in the US when her great-great-grandmother and great-great-grandfather emigrated, despite her great-great-grandmother being reluctant to do so at the time.
Rae explained: “She never learnt English and never smiled in her family photographs. I found her so fascinating and I wanted to return to my Sicilian heritage.”
Eventually, Rae relocated to Florence, where she lived for a period of time. It was there that she met Declan, the man she is now set to wed.
“I met the love of my life when I was in Florence. Four weeks after meeting him, I was on a plane to Australia, and I’ve been here ever since,” she added.
However, when Covid struck, the pair began browsing the internet for travel videos while they were unable to venture far from home, and it was during this time that they stumbled across the €1 (86p) property in Troina. While it’s not something many people would seriously contemplate without a lot of thought, they simply thought “why not?” and threw their names into the hat.
After taking part in a series of interviews, they heard nothing for quite some time — but then everything changed in an instant.
Rae added: “They waited for about 12 months. We didn’t tell anyone about it in case the house didn’t pan out but, in May 2022, they said ‘you have won the house, would you like to come see it?'”
The couple flew over in June and snapped it up almost immediately. They later found out that roughly 60,000 people had entered for the property, meaning they had truly struck gold.
When asked about the condition of the property, Rae said: “We knew it was going to be a complete renovation. We didn’t know how long it’d been since someone had lived in the house.
“They clean it up, but you know it’s going to be a complete renovation. We didn’t even think we’d have running water so we were pretty pleased with the house.
“It was over 60 years since someone had lived in it. It is a complete renovation journey.”
The couple must now carry out a full overhaul of the property, entirely at their own expense. There are also certain conditions they are required to adhere to.
Renovation regulations, however, can vary considerably depending on the area when it comes to €1 properties. It’s therefore essential to thoroughly research the rules before putting in an application for any property.
She also pointed out that people can have the wrong idea about purchasing them. They are far from simple bargains, as Rae explained that a considerable amount of effort and money is required to make them habitable.
Nevertheless, Rae has ambitious plans for the property, and the couple are also planning to tie the knot in Italy, with some of the locals even intending to come along. For this young pair, they may well end up returning to the very place that sparked their whirlwind romance.
When asked to describe Troina, Rae said that as you drive towards it, it looks like “a castle in the sky”, adding that “it’s quite romantic”. She now hopes the home will be transformed into a stunning retreat for them to share with loved ones once the renovation is complete.
“I want my family to use it,” she added. “Me and Declan want to settle there at some point for months or even years, but I hope it will be used by my family.”
Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce’s love story will reach new heights this week with a totally low-key two-day wedding bash at New York’s Madison Square Garden.
The billionaire pop titan and the NFL star, both 36, kicked off their wedding festivities Thursday afternoon with a rehearsal dinner at the famed sports arena. They have all but confirmed that they will then exchange their vows Friday in a grand MSG celebration with around 1,000 guests (including Swift’s celebrity friends and Kelce’s fellow sports stars) in attendance, at least according to numerous reports. The celebrity wedding will also reportedly feature heightened security around Madison Square Garden, performances by Stevie Nicks and Tim McGraw, and a red carpet outside the arena.
Representatives for Madison Square Garden, Swift and Kelce have not responded to The Times’ requests for comment.
Swift and Kelce’s relationship began nearly three years ago during the singer’s blockbuster Eras tour with a simple request and a friendship bracelet. Read on to revisit the roots of Swift and Kelce’s whirlwind romance turned generational love story, from the Kelce brothers’ “New Heights” podcast to a romantic garden engagement.
July 2023: Travis Kelce shoots his shot
Swift and Kelce’s romance can be traced back to summer 2023, when the Kansas City Chiefs tight end attended an Eras tour concert at Arrowhead Stadium, the Chiefs’ house. Kelce — a self-proclaimed Swiftie — told brother Jason Kelce in an episode of their “New Heights” podcast that he had a friendship bracelet with his phone number on it but didn’t get it to the singer. “I was a little … hurt I didn’t get to hand her one of the bracelets I made for her,” he said at the time. Eventually, the two got in touch.

The then-rumored romance quickly became commentary fodder for NFL broadcasts (sometimes to sports fans’ chagrin) but took a turn when Swift seemingly accepted Kelce’s personal invitation to a home game. She was seen cheering for him in a private box alongside his mother, Donna Kelce. Soon enough, Swift became a staple in the Chiefs audience. In the following months, Swift and Kelce further solidified their relationship, making it paparazzi-official during an after-party for “Saturday Night Live” and on her Eras tour in November when the singer changed her “Karma” lyrics to reference her budding romance.
February 2024: Super Bowl LVIII (Taylor’s Version)

Swift and Kelce’s love notably played out at Super Bowl LVIII, where the Chiefs faced the San Francisco 49ers. When the Chiefs won, the Grammy winner joined Kelce on the field, kissing and hugging him. A week before the big game, Swift announced her album, “Tortured Poets Department,” at the Grammy Awards. The album seemingly refers to Kelce in songs “The Alchemy” and “So High School.”
The pair continued going strong throughout 2024. As Swift‘s tour continued, Kelce joined his superstar girlfriend on stage in London. She also returned regularly to Arrowhead Stadium for Chiefs home games during the 2024-25 NFL season. Swift ended her Eras tour in December 2024 and hosted a private wrap party to celebrate her musical marathon. Of course, beau Kelce was in attendance.
August 2025: Baby, just say ‘yes!’
The following year was a relatively quieter one for the couple. Kelce and his Chiefs failed to beat the Philadelphia Eagles at Super Bowl LIX and Swift was in the midst of recovering from her tour and preparing for her newest album. But just when there seemed to be a lull in all things Taylor-Travis, the couple hit some major milestones.
First, Swift finally appeared on the Kelce brothers’ “New Heights” podcast. Remember, that’s where all of this started. The couple, of course, spoke about their whirlwind romance, but the main headline was that Swift would release her album “The Life of a Showgirl” later that fall. With songs “Redwood” and “Wish List,” it was pretty clear Kelce inspired Swift during the songwriting process.
Second, and more importantly, “Love Story” singer Swift announced on Instagram that she and Kelce were engaged. She shared photos from their dreamy garden proposal with the caption: “Your English teacher and your gym teacher are getting married.” Kelce popped the question with an elongated old mine cut cushion set within an engraved gold band. Speculation on the details of their nuptials, including date and location, were almost immediately underway.
Since their engagement, Kelce and Swift have appeared together at a handful of high-profile events including the iHeartRadio Music Awards in March, courtside at Rocket Arena in Cleveland during the 2026 NBA playoffs and the Songwriters Hall of Fame induction ceremony in June, which honored Swift.
For now, welcome to New York, soon-to-be Mr. and Mrs.
Away from Coronation Street, Leanne Battersby star Jane Danson is married to a famous face

Coronation Street Jane Danson’s romance with co-star she’s ‘fancied since she was 15’(Image: ITV)
Coronation Street’s Leanne Battersby has had her fair share of romances on the soap but in real life actress Jane Danson is loved-up with a fellow soap star.
And over the years, Leanne has played a part in several big storylines; from shock affairs and sex work to heartbreaking baby loss and drug abuse. And over in Weatherfield recently, she has struck up a romance with newcomer Idris Nazir (Junade Khan).
However, away from the soap, actress Jane is actually married to fellow soap star Robert Beck. Robert has appeared in the likes of Brookside, Emmerdale and Waterloo Road.
And he even appeared in Jane’s own soap Coronation Street back in 2008, playing criminal Jimmy Dockerson. For his Emmerdale stint, he played baddie Damon ‘Harry’ Harris in 1999.
The soap power couple Jane and Robert met in 1999 and tied the knot in 2005. The pair are also parents to Harry – born in July 2006 and Sam – born in February 2009.
Jane and Rob first met in May 1999, at the British Soap Awards. Recalling their first encounter Jane said: “I’m not the world’s most confident person but I’d had a crush on Rob since I was 15, so I thought, I have to speak to him, it’s fate.”
Appearing on Loose Women back in May 2025, Jane was asked about her other half, and whether she ‘manifested’ marrying him. “I have got to be careful here because I’m a little bit younger than him…” she admitted.
“When I was at school, I had a sticker of him on my pencil case and a poster of him. He was in Brookside at the time, another soap that’s no longer around, but he was very big in the soap at the time. I liked him a lot and some years later, when I was a little bit older, he was at the soap awards!”
In an intimate chat with OK! Magazine, Jane revealed the secret to her marriage with Robert, commenting: “Me and my husband have been together for 22 years, and we’re really good friends as well as loving each other lots.”
She also previously shared: “Rob’s absolutely my best friend in the world. We’ve only had about two rows in 20 years. I’m not saying we don’t get on each other’s nerves sometimes, but we’re a strong team and we’ve always allowed each other to be individuals.”
And in December last year, Jane shared a gushing tribute to Robert on their 20-year wedding anniversary. Sharing a beaming photo of them on their special day, Jane shared on Instagram: “Happy 20th wedding anniversary my love @robertbeck529.”
And her Corrie co-stars were quick to respond. On-screen sister Georgia Taylor said: “Absolute couple goals. Love you both so much.” Andy Whyment replied: “Ah Happy 20th wedding anniversary you lovely couple. Enjoy your day.” Samia Longchambon commented: ” Happy big Anniversary you two!” Catherine Tyldesley added: “Happy Anniversary loves.”
Coronation Street airs Monday to Friday at 8:30pm on ITV1 and ITVX

Music supervisor Season Kent revealed to Tudum how the film’s most prominent track, Robyn’s Dancing On My Own, is not only an uplifting tune that will get viewers dancing, but it also perfectly serves the narrative as a tribute to Jill’s sister Isabelle.
“The song becomes completely through Izzy’s point of view — watching Jill ‘from across the room’,” she explained.
“It’s heartbreaking and beautiful. It has the full package of a timeless song that you can feel in your soul.”
The film also features an original score by Este Haim and Amanda Yamate, who used an incredible blend of piano, guitar, synth, and even their own voices to craft Voicemails for Isabelle’s unique sound.

BBC fans think they’ve spotted a budding relationship on the cards for two fan-favourites.
Is there going to be a romance on the cards for Siobhan?(Image: BBC)
Casualty viewers believe a romance is unfolding.
The latest episode of the BBC show was full of drama as fans saw the continued fallout of Stevie Nash’s (Elinor Lawless) relationship with junior doctor Matty Linlaker (Aron Julius).
While she is yet to find out her fate at the Holby ED, viewers also saw a relationship come to an abrupt end when Cam Mickelthwaite (Barney Walsh) broke it off with Indie Jankowski (Naomi Wakszlak).
However, as one relationship ends, it seems as though another could be on the cards for two Casualty fan-favourites.
During the programme, Siobhan McKenzie (Melanie Hill) tried to get some of the patients waiting to be seen to leave due to the overcrowding.
Showing them that the black water they’d ingested was nothing to worry about, as someone had put activated charcoal into the water tanks, her demonstration worked as people started to leave.
Jan Jenning (Di Botcher) pointed out that people had started to go to Siobhan before she highlighted a black mark she had on her mouth. When Siobhan failed to wipe it away, Jan sprang into action and took it off for her.
She replied: “Oh, it’s like nobody loved you, as my mother would say!”
When Siobhan asked if she’d managed to get the mark away, BBC fans noticed Jan lingering a little too long as she stared at her intensely.
People on social media were quick to comment on the interaction, as many think a romance is on the cards.
One person on X said: “Jan and Siobhan need to get together.” Another commented: “Is anyone else excited for Jan and Shiv.”
While another person shared: “Jan fancies Siobhan.” A fourth tweeted: “Jan’s eyes. Is she seeing Siobhan in a new light?”
On Reddit, someone else wrote: “Jan and Siobhan? I can see the two maybe getting into a relationship or sharing a drunken kiss, especially with the scenes they shared lately.”
Someone agreed, replying: “I’m not sure if they’re gonna do a full relationship, but like you, I think they’re definitely gearing up for some kind of fling. I hope Siobhan does some happier storylines soon poor woman can’t catch a break.”
Former EastEnders actress Gurlaine Kaur Garcha, who previously played Ash Panesar on the long-running BBC soap, has married her partner Max after a year-long engagement

EastEnders star Gurlaine Kaur Garcha has married her partner after a year-long engagement. The actress, 32, is best known known for having previously played Ash Panesar on the long-running BBC soap, but she left the programme just over three years ago.
A slew of Gurlaine’s former co-stars were quick to congratulate her. Former Strictly Come Dancing star Balvinder Sopal, who plays Gurlaine’s on-screen mum Suki, wrote: “Gorgeous baby. Congratulations.”
Emma Barton, known for her role as Honey Mitchell, wrote: “Gorgeous… congratulations beautiful,” whilst Denis Fox actress Diane Parish simply said; “Congrats”
Last year, the actress, who last year was seen in an episode of the Amazon Prime hit The Girlfriend, shared the happy news of her engagement with fans on Instagram, flashing a huge diamond ring while sipping a cocktail abroad.
“v happy & v engaged!!!!!!” she wrote, keeping the caption short and sweet. Although Gurlaine’s kept her partner’s identity private, she confirmed the romantic proposal took place while on holiday in Ibiza.
Gurlaine made her debut in Albert Square back in 2019 as Ash; a confident, no-nonsense doctor who immediately made an impression. She arrived as the first member of the Panesar clan, with her brothers and mum Suki introduced shortly after.
Her character quickly became a key figure in several dramatic storylines from tense family fallouts and fractured relationships to fast-paced scenes at the hospital. She was also part of a same-sex romance with Iqra, making Ash one of the few LGBTQ+ South Asian characters in soap at the time.
Ash wasn’t afraid to speak her mind, often clashing with her mum Suki, whose controlling nature added even more fuel to their fiery dynamic. Her arrival was also seen as a big moment for representation, with viewers praising EastEnders for spotlighting a British Sikh woman in a lead medical role – something rarely seen on mainstream TV.
Gurlaine took a short break from the show in 2022 before officially bowing out in early 2023. At the time, soap bosses thanked her for her contribution, while the actress told fans she was “excited for what’s to come”.
Since then, Gurlaine’s kept a low profile but still shares snippets of her life online – posting travel pictures, moments with friends, and positive messages with her followers.
And while she’s stayed off-screen for now, fans will no doubt be thrilled to see her celebrating such a personal milestone.
