Weather presenter Tomasz Schafernaker is reportedly considering quitting the BBC along with two other long-serving presenters amid major cuts announced by the broadcaster

Tomasz Schafernaker, and two other presenters are reportedly considering quitting the BBC. The meteorologist, 47, first joined BBC Weather in 2000 and is currently the lead presenter.
But now, insiders have claimed that the broadcaster is planning to downsize its national weather team, and it’s thought that Tomasz, along with fellow long-serving presenters Louise Lear and Darren Bett are “”considering voluntary redundancy” following the huge changes to the brand that were announced last week.
The BBC initially claimed that they were planning to “make more of their much-loved local weather presenters,” which would mean a reduction in those who present on a national basis. A source said: “It’s the end of an era for our weather presenting. The audience wants a bit of digital and TV – including a good old fashioned forecast.”
Speaking to The Times, one presenter added: “The team is already very lean and punched above its weight for many years producing a huge amount of output across all platforms 24 hours a day. It isn’t fair to compare it to the behemoth that is the rest of BBC News.”
In 2006, Tomasz became famous when he jokingly raised his middle finger to newsreader Simon McCoy live on air and enjoyed a media career off the back off it, going on to model for magazines and appear on TV shows like Celebrity MasterChef, Would I Lie To You?, Pointless Celebrities, and The Weakest Link.
Meanwhile, Darren presented Look North before becoming part of the launch team for BBC News 24 in 1997, and is currently the main weather presenter on BBC Radio 5 Live. Before joining the BBC in 1998, Louise worked as a weather presenter for Central Television, has been seen on Countryfile and is regularly fronts the weather segment on BBC News At Six.
Another presenter told the outlet that whilst there is still an audience for weather, there is a push to lean towards a more digital output with the genre.
The insider said: “The appetite for weather has massively grown, but people standing in front of a map giving a national picture is less relevant. We are going to be more digital-focused because there’s a really strong argument that what is now needed is more reporting than presenting.”
The BBC initially cut ties with the Met Office service in 2017 and turned to Dutch MeteoGroup, which was the acquired by the US weather services company DTN, for their meteorological output. But last year, a new deal was put in place which meant the broadcaster would reunite with the UK’s national weather and climate service.
Announcing the changes and a more digital approach to the output following the summer heatwave, BBC News’ interim CEO Jonathan Munro said: “As this summer’s heatwaves have proved, up-to-the minute and accurate weather information has never been more important.
“I’m looking forward to our partnership with the Met Office – this is a very apt time for our two trusted national institutions to be reunited.”
It all comes amid what the BBC has called a £500 million cost-cutting drive, with staple programmes Live at the Apollo, Blankety Blank and Celebrity Mastermind having already faced the axe.
Executives are aiming for at least £100 million in yearly recurring savings, which will eventually cut original television output by 100 to 150 hours across the broadcaster.
Falling audiences also had a significant influence on the decisions. Live at the Apollo plummeted from 1.3 million viewers in 2018 to approximately 660,000 for its most recent series.
Meanwhile, Celebrity Mastermind tumbled from an average of 4 million viewers in 2017 to 1.7 million. Blankety Blank similarly dropped from 5.5 million viewers during its 2021 debut to 2.3 million. BBC One’s Breakfast will no longer air on Sunday mornings from September whilst the production teams making Sunday with Laura Kuenssberg and Newsnight will merge.
Radio 4’s The World Tonight will end from September, and the number of permanent presenters on Today will be cut from five to four with a single anchor on the show on Saturdays. World Tonight is being replaced by Newshour, and Breakfast on Sunday is being replaced by the BBC News Channel.
The Mirror has contacted representatives for comment.

This comes at the same time she revealed she would be stepping back from fame at the end of her tour.

Ryan also revealed that he welcomed the star to appear in another season which she gladly accepted.
He added: “You have to be respectful. Who is busier than Ariana Grande? No one. She had told me at the time, ‘I have this album that’s dropping.’ It was really, truly a scheduling conflict.”
Ryan also revealed that Ariana is a big fan of horror and did Scream Queens for him and explained that he would always want to work with her.
He said: “I love her, and I support her. It was a very big swing, but I might bring that back for another season, per Ariana’s availability. I think the world of her.”
AS she returns to the UK stage for the first time in years, we reveal how heartache has left its mark on Ariana Grande.

But away from the bright lights of fame, Ariana Grande has had to overcome more serious challenges than any of her contemporaries.
And while it is Taylor Swift who is known for her defining “eras”, Ariana has done some major reinvention of her own.
As she arrives at London’s O2 Arena on Saturday for a 10-night stint of her The Eternal Sunshine Tour – her first in seven years – it will be a very different woman to the one who last performed in the capital.
An insider reveals: “Her tour might be called Eternal Sunshine, but there’s no doubt she’s battled some really dark days and dealt with more tragedy than most her age. Perhaps most impressively, she keeps going, whether it’s movies, music or her search for true love.”
Fresh from her gruelling two-movie Wicked filming schedule and press tour, which took over her life for the best part of three years, Ariana, 33, is back doing what her fans love most – being a pop star.
Her tour sold out in 15 minutes, with more than 2 million people trying to buy tickets when they were released in September.
Her big UK comeback coincides with a time of emotional turmoil for the star, though.
He had fallen for her during filming, and the outcry threatened to overshadow promo for the first Wicked film.
“The whole thing was a major strain,” the source says. “Ariana has been desperate to put all of it behind her.”
The split was the latest blow for the star, who pursued fame from a young age.
Born in Florida in 1993 to parents Joan Grande and Edward Butera, she landed her first role in a Broadway show aged just 15.
Her major break came a year later, when she was cast as the bubbly Cat Valentine in Nickelodeon hit series Victorious, turning her into a household name.
But it was her extraordinary four-octave vocal range that truly set her apart from her contemporaries, and by her early 20s Ariana had made the leap from TV favourite to global superstar, topping charts around the world with singles such as Right There and The Way.
Meanwhile, her love life was rarely out of the headlines.
She enjoyed romances with rappers Big Sean and Mac Miller, not to mention her infamous engagement to comedian Pete Davidson (Ariana broke the internet when she commented that Pete had “big d**k energy”), as well as a short-lived marriage to luxury real-estate agent Dalton Gomez, which ended months before news emerged of her relationship with Ethan.

It was Mac Miller who supported her through one of the most difficult times of her life.
In May 2017, 22 people were killed and more than 1,000 injured when a terrorist attack took place at her Manchester Arena concert.
The bombing was the deadliest terrorist attack in the UK since the 2005 London bombings, and it deeply affected everyone who survived it – as well as those close to the victims.
Ariana developed PTSD in the aftermath, and then-boyfriend Mac dropped everything to help her through it.
A year later, however, further tragedy struck when the rapper, who by then had split from Ariana, died after an accidental drug overdose.
After so much grief in such a short space of time, the star revealed it was her music that helped her to cope.
“I was doing so much therapy, and I was dealing with PTSD and all different kinds of grief and depression and anxiety,” she told The Hollywood Reporter’s podcast, Awards Chatter.

“I was, of course, treating it very seriously, but having music be a part of that remedy was absolutely contributing to saving my life.”
While Ariana’s fans are delighted that she’s made a return to touring – and there are a lot, with 363 million followers on Instagram alone – her tour dates have not resulted in the celebration she may have hoped for.
Concerns have been raised about her dramatic weight loss in recent years, exacerbated by her return to the stage.
One commenter wrote: “Objectively speaking, Ariana Grande is dangerously underweight.” Another added: “She needs help.”
It’s undeniable that Ariana is much smaller than she once was.
The singer was forced to comment about her size when speculation reached fever pitch during Wicked promotional interviews.

During an interview to promote the first film, Ariana was asked how she copes with exacting beauty standards for women and the “overwhelming” pressure they feel to always look perfect.
It was a question that elicited an emotional response. Holding back tears, Ariana replied: ”Good question,” before describing the pressures of growing up famous.
“I’ve been doing this in front of the public and kind of been a specimen in a petri dish, really, since I was 16 or 17 years old, so I have heard it all. I’ve heard every version of it, of what’s wrong with me. And then you fix it, and then it’s wrong for different reasons.”
She then went on to condemn the narrative, adding: “I think in today’s society, there is a comfortability that we shouldn’t have at all [with] commenting on others’ looks, appearance, what they think is going on behind the scenes or health or how they present themselves.
“There’s a comfortability that people have commenting on that, that I think is really dangerous – and I think it’s dangerous for all parties involved.”
Those who know Ariana best are understandably protective of the singer, who is repeatedly described as “sensitive” and “vulnerable” behind the scenes, but also praised for her incredible professional commitment.
She is said to be “laser-focused” when it comes to work. The various trials and tribulations life has thrown at her, they say, have left her “damaged, but determined to grow and make a difference with her music and performances”.
It was bagging the role of Glinda, says one insider, that changed the course of Ariana’s life forever.
“This is a role she had wanted to play since she was a child, and Ariana gave it everything. It pushed her on, and she’s never looked back – it definitely raised the bar when it came to her career. It took everything out of the cast, though, as they cared so much.”
Friends and co-stars of Ariana all say the same – that she is uniquely kind and loving.
The Sun’s Associate Bizarre Editor Howell Davies recalls meeting her in the aftermath of the Manchester bombings, and her One Love Manchester concert to honour those who’d lost their lives.

He says: “I had been a massive fan of Ariana for years and was meant to go to the Dangerous Woman Tour in London in 2017, which was cancelled after the Manchester bombing.
“A year later, she made a surprise performance at Coachella festival in Palm Springs. When I spotted her backstage with Mac, I told her how courageous I thought she had been. She was sweet and composed. It really felt like she had time for her fans and wanted to speak to me.”
It would be understandable if Ariana never wanted to sing again, but her return to pop has been important to her.
She told The New York Times: “There was something broken about my relationship to pop music that was healed recently through the time away.”
Now, she’s entering a new chapter – one she will certainly be hoping is less turbulent.
With the release of new album Petal, fans are enjoying her return to the pop princess we know and love – and with this latest tour, she’s giving everything to reconnect with them in person.
Music aside, Ariana is also taking on other exciting projects. She signed up for a comedy role in the latest Meet The Parents sequel Focker-In-Law, starring Robert De Niro (who sang her praises) and Ben Stiller, which is due for release in November.

The pair, who dated for a year from 2015, were spotted having dinner in Texas together in June this year, and spent the Fourth of July together in Florida.
He also attended her New York concert date, and the insider says: “They are enjoying downtime together between shows.”
Ariana appeared to confirm the rekindling last month, while performing Thank U, Next in Brooklyn, after changing the lyrics to: “Wrote some songs about Ricky, we always find our way back,” and at another gig in Austin she sang: “He has still got her back”.
An insider says: “This is something of a ‘comfort rebound’ for Ariana, who is feeling vulnerable post her split from Ethan. Ricky definitely makes her feel safe. And more than anything, Ariana wants to be happy again. Settling down is what she has always been keen to do.”
There was, of course, set to be another string added to her bow, with her West End stage debut in London. Ariana and her Wicked co-star Jonathan Bailey were announced as the leads of Sunday In The Park With George, a musical by Pulitzer-Prize-winning Stephen Sondheim.
This was one of the most hotly anticipated theatre events of 2027 – but earlier this month Ariana pulled out, with the role now set to be recast.
In a statement, her team said: “Ariana will be taking a step back from visibility after she completes the Eternal Sunshine Tour.”
“She looks forward to finishing the tour and ending it on a high note, both healthily and happily, and then taking a much-deserved break from public-facing work and appearances, which has led to endless, ongoing public scrutiny.
“This tour has been a beautiful experience for her.
“She loves her fans and has loved every minute of this tour so much.”
From the little girl in Florida who was musical-theatre-obsessed to the 33-year-old woman who has weathered storms with grace while working her behind off, Ariana has proven that she is a rare thing: a star who cares what people think of her.

In reality, the widely-celebrated performer, who was awarded an MBE honour by the late Queen Elizabeth II, generally keeps his personal life out of the spotlight, though he has occasionally offered glimpses into his home life and upbringing.
During his childhood, Justin was required to move around frequently with his parents owing to his father’s career as a highly sought-after music writer, which meant the family often needed to relocate and would regularly welcome some incredibly famous faces to their home.
The beloved TV personality is in fact the second-oldest of five children – with a 12 year age gap between him and his youngest sibling. At an early age, the CBeebies favourite opened up to his father, Guy Fletcher, revealing his ambition to pursue acting and develop his drama studies.
Net Worth
The entertainer has been presenting beloved CBeebies programmes including Gigglebiz and Justin’s House. Yet his greatest achievement has undoubtedly been the show Something Special, which was specifically designed to help children with communication by weaving Makaton signs, speech and symbols throughout.
Having remained a children’s television sensation for more than two decades, it’s hardly surprising that his endearing characters have evolved into a multi-million-pound enterprise.
According to previous reports, his Something Special DVD shifted over 100,000 copies, generating more than £1 million, while an accompanying magazine brought in a monthly income of £180,000. His net worth has therefore been estimated at around £1.5 million.
Stepping down from BBC role
Last year, the television favourite left fans gobsmacked when he revealed he was stepping away from his proudest achievement, Something Special, confirming he was passing the baton to three other presenters.
Following a remarkable 22-year run, during which the show produced 12 series and five specials, Justin decided it was the right moment to hand over to TV stars Maddie Moate, Ben Cajee, and George Webster, who announced the news on social media.
Is Mr Tumble married in real life?
Justin recently revealed that he has fallen in love with his co-star Samantha Dorrance, who plays his best friend Tootsie.
Justin, 55, and Samantha, 34, reportedly fell for each other while working on a panto and travelling on their live tour. In fact, the pair are so smitten that Samantha has moved into his £2.5million farmhouse.
According to The Sun, the couple enjoy nothing more than a quiet life and looking after their chickens.
“Justin and Samantha are madly in love and couldn’t be happier,” a source told the paper. “They are both dedicated performers and bonded over their love of musical theatre. Although there is an age gap, it isn’t an issue between them.”
Who is Mr Tumble’s famous father?
Justin isn’t the only well-known face in the family – his father Guy Fletcher co-wrote songs for legendary artists including Elvis Presley, Ray Charles and Joe Cocker alongside lyricist Doug Flett.
Justin opened up to BBC 6 Music star Chris Hawkins about what it was like growing up immersed in music and the company of musicians, revealing that his character Mr ‘Cliff’ Tumble was in fact a loving tribute to Sir Cliff Richard.
He said: “I was always brought up around musicians and we had a recording studio built onto the house. My character Cliff Tumble is a homage to Sir Cliff, who I’ve met a lot and is lovely, very charming.
“Dad wrote his Eurovision entry Power to All Our Friends. The biggest hit he wrote for Elvis was Just Pretend, which he used to perform in his Vegas shows. Pretty cool, really.”

The track voices support for Israel’s military action in Palestine in response to Hamas’ October 7 attack at the Nova Music Festival, which saw more than 1,200 innocent men, women, and children killed.
The Culture Club legend, 65, insists he was simply trying to call for peace.

George said: “Sometimes, I realise that being an air sign I expect the world to understand me without having to explain myself.
“The suggestion that I feel no compassion for Palestinian’s is both untrue and absurd.
“I am devastated for the loss of the innocent lives on both sides of this war and I call for peace.
“I have read members of the press calling me a ‘genocide denier’ yet those who deny the suffering of Israelis are given a free pass.”
In a long statement, the former The Voice mentor said: “My song is pro peace and about the emotions I felt after visiting the Nova Exhibition and talking to Michael and Lisa Marlowe who had their son Jake taken from them. Murdered trying help others.
“I also spent time talking to May Hayat who survived while her best friend was murdered. We took a picture standing in front all the people who were killed that day.
Everyone knows what happened to innocent women, kids, babies, sons and fathers on that day, innocent people who were at a festival celebrating life.
“The Nova Festival is a mirror of my world as a DJ and I have played many such festivals, including in Israel so it resonated with me and I felt compelled to write something. I could have been there and we know that there were people from more than 40 countries who were. I felt these deep emotions and is wrote this song for them.
“My personal opinion is that this is sadly a war , but not an attempt to wipe out Palestine. But I respect that everyone has their own opinions and believe we should all be allowed to have that right.
“Look around and tell me one musician speaking out for the Jewish community, but you can absolutely guarantee they have made their living from working with a Jewish team member.
“I understand that is uncomfortable to defend your friends when a war like this is raging but the woman who sells me bagels is not to blame, neither is my doctor or publicist, manager, ex boyfriend or my thousands of Jewish friends. This song is for them.
“I come from a place of peace. I am a jew loving, trans hugging queer hippy and my mother would be proud of me.”
George was set to take on the role of King Herod in the London theatre show, beginning August 3rd, but in a statement on Thursday night, his manager announced he will ‘no longer appear’.
Taking to social media, George’s manager Paul Kemsley wrote: “After careful consideration, I have decided, in my capacity as Boy George’s manager, that he will no longer be appearing in Jesus Christ Superstar at the London Palladium.
“The decision has been made with the utmost respect for the producers, the creative team and the entire company. We are grateful for the professionalism and understanding they have shown throughout and sincerely wish everyone involved every success with the production.”
George’s PR apologised to fans who purchased tickets in the hopes of seeing George perform, admitting the decision would be a “disappointment” for some.
He added: “George has never been afraid to stand by his personal convictions, and I have always respected him for that. Equally, I believe it is my responsibility to make decisions that are in the best interests of my artist while also showing respect to others.
“In this instance, I felt it was right to step aside, allowing the production to remain the focus, while ensuring everyone involved can move forward with mutual respect and goodwill.”

His antiques venture, Vintage Vegas, began as a pop-up shop at Dagfields Craft and Antique Centre near Nantwich, Cheshire.
It featured in his eight-part TV series, which followed Johnny and Bev as they hunted for unusual treasures to sell.
Johnny describe his business venture as “collectable things of all sorts, really.
“I have a very dangerous bit of knowledge on lots of things. I couldn’t tell you about 18th-century furniture or anything, but I have to think I like it and hopefully I have an eye for this stuff.”
The Benidorm star admitted he was initially unsure whether customers would visit just to get a selfie.
He said: “It’ll be an interesting experiment to see if people come in not just to see me.
“We’ll find out if it’s viable down the line when the circus has left town, so to speak. We’re learning as we go. I never thought I’d see myself as a shopkeeper.”
Johnny has also opened up about stepping away from stand-up comedy after years of struggling with nerves.
He said: “Stand-up was great, but it was manic. The nerves took their toll. Never say never, but I just see that as a project that needs to rest.”
Johnny was previously married to Kitty Donnelly from 2002 until 2008, and they share an adult son, Michael.
He wed his second wife, Irish broadcaster Maia Dunphy, in 2011.
The former couple, who share 11-year-old son Tom, announced their separation in 2018 and later briefly reconciled before splitting again.
Love Island’s Ellie Chadwick has spoken out after quitting the show shortly after a series of explosive scenes played out on the dating series following her doomed romance with Finley Maddock

Love Island’s Ellie Chadwick has spoken out after dramatically quitting the show. The real estate videographer, 24, had been taking part in the hit ITV2 reality dating series and was enjoying a blossoming romance with Finley Maddock, but it all started to go wrong when he fell for a bombshell who entered the villa.
In explosive scenes that aired on Thursday night, Ellie stormed out of the villa for good, having decided to leave when Finley was voted out by the other Islanders, and has now insisted that everything stated to kick off after bombshell Elicia set her sights on Finley during a recoupling.
She said: “When Elicia chose Fin at the recoupling, all hell broke loose. I was angry. As all the girls were saying, I just lost my cool. There had already been a little bit of back and forth. I more or less knew what was coming, but it had been back and forth and I just lost it. I had too much emotion in me to let out. I’d laid my cards out.
“I couldn’t do any more. I was just hurt. It wasn’t like she had done anything wrong. She had a job to do,she was a Bombshell. I was just feeling a type of way about it, and that was okay. Everyone in that situation was feeling a type of way, mine just came out in a louder way than everyone else’s.”
The reality star then admitted that she had hoped to remain in a couple with Finley and then accused of him of dealing with the situation in such a “poor” way to begin with, but ultimately thinks she has grown from her experience on the dating programme.
She said: “Obviously, seeing Finley up there was hard because it was a recent event and he hadn’t been in the bottom before. Then, when we got told about the second dumping and that we had to choose, I already kind of knew in my gut that it wasn’t going to go the way I was hoping, which was for me and Finley to stay there and continue to grow. There were no ifs, buts or maybes, or what ifs, or how could this play out.
“Finley knows fine well that I feel like he navigated it very poorly. I made that very vocal and I will stand on that. I always will. I think the communication was poor.
“A lot of the things that happened were not relayed to me in a proper way, which I would have appreciated. I’m big enough to take the truth on the chest.
“I’m happy with that. I’m a very direct, upfront person. I just think the communication was poor and the way he handled it wasn’t great. I understand he was confused. I was understanding the whole time, but there was only so much understanding I could do.
“There are definitely ways it could have been better, but we live and we learn. That’s what Love Island is. It’s about living and learning. I’ve learned a lot about myself there and I’ve got to give him grace on that.
“It doesn’t mean the grafting boots are off because we’re out now, those boots are still on. I believed in the connection we had so much. I just knew in my heart that it was going to work, regardless of what was going on.
Love Island continues tonight at 9pm on ITV2 and ITVX
Hollyoaks star Haiesha Mistry, who played Yasmine Maalik on the Channel 4 show from 2017 until 2024, has landed a completely different kind of job two years after quitting the soap

Hollyoaks star Haiesha Mistry has landed a “normal job” two years after quitting the soap. The actress, 32, played Yasmine Maalik on the Channel 4 show from 2017 until 2024 and was part of several major storylines, even winning the British Soap Award for Best Single Episode in 2018 when her character was involved in a group self-harm plot.
But now, Haiesha has taken to social media to reveal that she has now found employment in a secondary school, although she did not go into too much detail about her new role.
Alongside a mirror selfie taken during the heatwave, she wrote on Instagram: “Spent the last 2 days working in a high school during the hottest days of the year.”
As part of her departure storyline, Yasmine decided to accept a new job in Canada, leaving the village and her husband Tom Cunningham behind after months of drama. Yazz had been talking to someone online unaware it was Tom pretending to be ‘Gordon’. He was gutted when he realised she had no idea it was him, and the pair clashed.
Tom then cheated on Yazz with his ex and her best pal Peri Lomax, while Yazz also kissed another character. But the biggest betrayal came when she was offered a huge job in Canada and Tom sabotaged it, or at least tried to.
Not wanting to lose her, Tom emailed the potential employer and pretended to be Yazz. He declined the job opportunity and did not tell his wife what he had done.
Yazz found out via the employer though, and confronted Tom during the vow renewal where she announced she wanted a divorce. She then confirmed to her loved ones that she planned to take the job and leave for Canada.
In sad scenes, the character said her goodbyes to her mother Misbah and her friends and family. She then had a final goodbye with Tom as they made amends, with Yazz getting into a taxi and starting her new life away from the village.
Hollyoaks marked Haiesha’s on-screen acting debut and whilst she took a break from the soap in 2021 to shoot the short film Mug, she has not appeared in any other television projects since she left completely.
When her exit scenes aired, Haiesha reflected on her time on the programme with an emotional Instagram post.
She said: “That’s a wrap. 2017-2024 7 years of Yazz Maalik/Yazz Cunningham complete! Yazz you have been my pride and joy for the last 7 years. You’ve taught me so, so much. I will never forget your sass! Especially in the last 2 episodes!
“Unmatched at every level! To the iconic beehive, all the creative hairstyles or the outfits that screamed sass, especially that ‘big bird’ yellow fluffy jacket! “Our make-up and costume ladies will know, the way I would go, ‘OH HERE SHE IS, YAZZ IS HERE’, you brought so much life and served looks every damn time!
“I’ve had so many incredible storylines over the years. Whether it’s the car crash stunt, school explosion, the tunnel of terror, the self-harm storyline, Yazz’s deafness, the historical rape or the ectopic pregnancy storyline to name a few. “Being on the show has taught me how important it is to tell stories and represent, especially that BROWN GIRL REPRESENTATION!
“To the Hollyoaks fans, the best there is. Thank you for loving and hating on Yazz. When I got those reactions, I knew I was doing my job right. It’s been a pleasure to keep you entertained. “Being part of the Hollyoaks family is something I will cherish forever but as the saying goes, all good things have to come to an end. Peace out Yazz.”
HANGING up the phone after her landlord told her he’d be selling her home, Melanie Bentley-Moore looked out at the pouring rain and decided to leave the UK.
The mum-of-one, from Manchester, has now packed her bags to move across the world. Her rent will be half of what she pays back home, and she can eat out for just £1 a meal.

“I got a call from my landlord saying he’s selling, and I said, ‘Do you know what? I’m just going to leave the UK,’” Melanie, 33, tells the Sun.
“I’m scared, but obviously I’m doing it anyway.”
She has booked flights to Thailand in early September, and is staying at a friend’s house until then.
Explaining why she’s so desperate to move overseas, Melanie explained how Asia is much more affordable than the UK.
“Petrol, energy, food, you notice the food goes up in price; however, they decreased the packaging sizes,” she says.
There, she explains, she will be paying significantly less rent, with a “really nice apartment” costing around £400 a month, compared to the £750 she pays at home, and an evening meal just £1.
Melanie left the UK in 2017 to travel around Asia, using Vietnam as her main base.
But she returned to the UK two years later because she was missing chip shops and Nando’s.
Then her son Antares was born in 2020, and she decided to stay.
But astrologist Melanie claims she has wanted to “get back out there” ever since.
And she has slammed those who also yearn to leave the UK for sunnier shores, but just “talk” about it, and never move.
She has now sold all her belongings, and she and her son will be jetting off to Asia to live their “best lives”.
“Here it feels like we’re surviving; however, I know in Asia, where I’m heading, I’d be able to thrive instead,” she says.
“I wouldn’t get anxiety paying for a food shop, the contrast is massive.
“The energy here just feels heavy, it’s dark,” she says.
“There’s no room to grow. The majority of people are miserable because of all the stuff that’s going on, the cost of living, everything’s rising.
“I just don’t feel alive here, and I think that’s not just a ‘me’ problem either; everyone that I’m speaking to just feels soulless.
“I’m just bored, I can’t live ‘Groundhog Day‘, I can’t just continue this way.
“Just hearing everyone else complain, that weakens my spirit.

“Most people are miserable, and they’re always complaining; it seeps into everything.
“It’s like an infinite cycle of ‘rinse and repeat’ complaining. It’s just a feeling, I just don’t feel alive. It sucks the soul out of me.”
Explaining how she chose her destination, Melanie says “I lived in Asia for two years, so I’m very familiar with that area of the world.
“I was only meant to go for three months, but I ended up staying out there for a couple of years, travelling around Asia.
“My main base was Vietnam, I did some English teaching out there and came back home because it’s something random, I really wanted chippy and Nando’s.”
According to the single mum, she also wants to show her son “real life”, and she prefers the values in Asia.
And she has taken Antares out of school, as she prefers education systems where children start school later.
Discussing how she believes the move will positively impact her son, she says: “I’m going to do some charity work and volunteering with him. There is no better learning than real life.
“He’s only five, I prefer the Scandinavian way.
“In Scandinavia, there’s a reason why their children are the happiest and most successful because they don’t start school till they’re seven.
“With the values and stuff, life’s just better over there. It’s slower, it’s sunny, the scenes are beautiful, and you realise there is so much more to life than what I’m used to. It’s a completely different culture as well.”
Melanie has also said that she wants people to “follow their hearts”.
“It’s no good talking, there’s a lot of talkers out there – I ‘do’.
“I refuse to stay here in a life of struggle and misery. The energy is dark, it’s always raining, it’s grey.”
“I feel so soulless and miserable in this place, and I’m not doing it anymore, and I thought f*** this.”
“Life is for living and feeling joy and love and wonder, I don’t feel any of that here.
“There is something about England energy-wise that is just so off.”
