Andre (Wolves): Yes, he gets a goal to win the game against Liverpool on Tuesday, but he’s an enforcer. He had to dig in a lot with the Liverpool pressure, especially in the first half. He did a great job for the team. On the odd occasion, he was able to get forward – and he drove forward with pace and purpose, and he managed to nick a goal. He has been a huge part of the Wolves revival.

Declan Rice (Arsenal): Need I say anything else? Rice is the man who is always in the right area. The ball always breaks to him. It looks like he is tiring, but then he manages to do a lung-busting run. It was an excellent performance from Rice against Brighton. He controlled and dictated the field.

Elliot Anderson (Nottingham Forest): It was one of those performances that make you think he will probably be at Manchester City one day. The goal was a great hit, and he broke up play really well. He also manages to make 25 fouls a game, but never gets a card! I think he would be a good replacement for Rodri one day. If Manchester City cannot get Rodri back to the level he was fitness-wise, then they need Anderson next to him, or they move Rodri on and put Anderson in.

Adam Wharton (Crystal Palace): He plays forward and he assists goals. What separates him from other players in the Premier League is he plays one or two touches, and he plays forward more than anyone that I can think of. He is not afraid of making mistakes. His pass for Jorgen Strand Larsen’s goal in the 3-1 win at Tottenham on Thursday was lovely. His take on the half-turn and the ball in for Ismaila Sarr was fantastic too. I wonder whether Palace can keep him moving forward?

Mohammed Salah, Liverpool, £14m – Nottingham Forest (a)

Is Salah back as an FPL option?

He’s had a terrible season by his standards and is only the 41st-ranked midfielder in FPL but…

In the four games since his return from the Africa Cup of Nations, the signs are there that a haul is imminent.

Salah’s had 14 shots in that time (more than anyone else in the league), 12 in the box, three big chances yet no goal to show for it. He does have three assists.

Forest have been flakey to say the least this season and Liverpool are hitting a bit of form.

Bruno Fernandes, Manchester United, £9.8m – Everton (a)

Fernandes has been fantasy gold dust since his return from injury in gameweek 21 so don’t let his blank at West Ham last time out put you off.

The Portuguese has 44 points in those six games and there’s not even a penalty in there. By contrast, Cole Palmer has the same amount of points in six games but with four penalties.

Fernandes’ potential is off the charts and Everton have only one clean sheet in their past seven.

Cole Palmer (captain), Chelsea, £10.6m – Burnley (h)

He might have relied on penalties for his recent surge in form but that is what makes Palmer such a great FPL asset in the first place.

If you’re chasing points in your mini-league, Palmer is the best differential with just a 15% ownership.

And Burnley at home… well it doesn’t get much better!

Antoine Semenyo, Manchester City, £8.0m – Newcastle (h)

Any worries that Semenyo’s production might suffer from his move to City, with so many forward options, have been unfounded.

He’s scored in both his home matches and now takes on a Newcastle side who have conceded eight in their past three games.

Mateus Fernandes (West Ham): He’s one of those players that looks like he would infuriate me, both to play with and against. He did all the ratty things really well. He’s got high energy, he’s young, talented and he’s the heartbeat of the team. He gets caught up sometimes in silly moments, trying to buy fouls when he doesn’t really have to. I thought it was his best performance for West Ham this season – a very mature performance.

Nico O’Reilly (Manchester City): I love seeing him play in midfield. He adds the legs and energy into City’s midfield – and obviously he gets his goal there as well. I feel the more he plays in his natural position – with Rodri around him – he’ll be a star, not only for Manchester City but England moving forward as well.

Jacob Ramsey (Newcastle): When Newcastle’s midfield has been torn up because of injury or suspension in the last few weeks, he’s quietly gone about his business. He’s been excellent and made sure he delivers in terms of performances and now goals. I think he’s a real steal for Newcastle.

Cole Palmer (Chelsea): I’m going to give a sympathy vote to Cole Palmer. He was in there last week because he scored a hat-trick against Wolves – but this week: goal, assist, and is a level above everyone else – but what a miss that was. If he scores that goal, Chelsea obviously win the game. He’s a shoo-in. That miss does put a little stain on it, but I thought his overall performance was miles better.
