RAIN has arrived and it seems summer is truly over, but that doesn’t mean you can’t get out in nature – especially if its indoors.

Around the UK are lots of attractions with indoor conservatories and glasshouses full of plants – and we’ve highlighted some of the best to explore this autumn.

The Eden Project, Cornwall

Go big or go home, right? The Eden Project has two biomes one of which is home to the world’s largest indoor rainforest.

The Rainforest Biome can be as hot as 35C so make sure to wear layers if you visit this autumn and winter.

Inside are beautiful waterfalls, a canopy walkway, wobbly bridges, free-roaming partridges and over 1,000 varieties of plants.

The Mediterranean Biome is slightly cooler but can still get up to 25C with pretty flowers and plants from the Mediterranean, California and even Western Australia.

Make sure to follow the path to the olive trees, stop by the perfume garden for some scented plants and spot the sculptures hidden amongst the greenery.

Across September 26-27 will be the Celebration of Stories Weekend where children’s authors will read stories from their books, along with workshops and family activities.

From November 20-January 2 will be its Christmas event. General tickets for adults start from £35.50 and tickets for children (5-15) start from £12.50.

Kew Gardens, London

Kew Gardens is known for its incredible landscape gardens and lakes – but there’s plenty of it that’s indoors too.

One of its most impressive attractions that’s inside is Palm House which is an indoor rainforest full of endangered plants – some of which are even extinct in the wild.

The Princess of Wales Conservatory at Kew Gardens has 10 different zones with different climates including topical ones – so you can warm up inside.

Discover Venus flytraps, succulents and tropical orchids inside.

Other indoor attractions include Davies Alpine House where plants that thrive in cool, dry and windy conditions live.

There’s also Temperate House which is the world’s largest Victorian glasshouse with around 10,000 different plants from around the world.

General admission tickets start from £17 for adults – an offer for £10 tickets starts later this month. Tickets for children (between 4-15) start from £2.

The National Botanic Garden of Wales, Carmarthenshire

In the heart of Carmarthenshire is the National Botanic Garden of Wales which has a claim to fame as being the largest single-span great glasshouse in the world.

It was even designed by Foster + Partners which are behind buildings like The Gherkin.

Inside the raindrop-shaped glasshouse are endangered plants from Mediterranean climate regions like the Canary Islands, Chile and South Africa.

Along with its various species of plants are rocky terraces and sandstone cliffs.

There are places for snacks too at the Caffi Botanica which serves up snacks, sandwiches, hot meals – some ingredients are even grown in the conservatory itself.

Tickets start from £16.49 for adults and £8.44 for children (between 2-17).

The Winter Garden, Sheffield

The Winter Garden in Sheffield is one of the largest temperate glasshouses to be built in the UK in the last 100 years.

The building is so big that it could actually fit 5,000 regular-sized greenhouses inside of it.

It’s full of greenery with over 2,500 plants from around the world inside of it and paths for a relaxing stroll inside.

There’s everything from tall trees to bamboo, bedding plants which change seasonally and flowers.

It might not be a place that you can spend a day in – but it’s attached to connected to the Millennium Gallery and the Peace Gardens which you can explore too.

It’s completely free to walk through The Winter Garden and it’s open Monday to Saturday between 8am-8pm, on Sunday it’s open from 10am to 5pm.

David Welch Winter Gardens, Aberdeen

David Welch Winter Gardens is found inside Duthie Park in the Ferryhill area of Aberdeen.

The glasshouse was added to the park in the 1900s and is now one of the most visited indoor plant collections in Scotland.

Inside is Europe’s largest indoor plant collection where you can explore the enormous Temperate House.

There’s also the Corridor of Perfumes which is a fragrant zone within the glasshouse, Fern House, Victorian Corridor, Japanese Garden, Tropical House and Arid House.

If its not too cold outside, take a stroll around Duthie Park which has a bandstand, fountains and a boating pond too.

Entry to the David Welch Winter Gardens at Duthie Park is completely free.

The Barbican Conservatory, London

This one might be slightly harder to visit – but it’s still worth mentioning as the Barbican Conservatory is the second biggest of its kind in London (behind the Princess of Wales Conservatory at Kew Gardens).

The conservatory is part of the Barbican Centre in central London and is full with over 1,500 species of tropical and subtropical plants, trees and even fish.

There’s very much limited time to visit though as the Barbican Conservatory will close to the public and undergo a major restoration in January 2027.

But if you want to see inside before its closure, tickets are released one month in advance online with a number day tickets released from 9.30am on the day that the conservatory opens – entry is completely free.

WET weather may be on the way, but that doesn’t mean family fun has to stop.

Across the country are plenty of new indoor soft play attractions that will keep the kids entertained – even when it’s raining outside.

Geo-Play, Prestatyn

Over in the Welsh town of Prestatyn, a new soft play centre for babies, toddlers and children has just opened.

Called Geo-Play, it has colourful obstacles, slides, tunnels and places to climb.

Inside its Dragon’s Magical Sensory Cave children will be able to play amongst lots of lighting with cosy cushions, mirrors and projections on the walls.

Parts of the soft play look like a lighthouse – inspired by Prestatyn’s seaside location.

Letherhead Leisure Centre, Surrey

Opening in just a few days’ time will be a new soft play centre in Leatherhead.

On September 6, children up to 10 years old will be able to explore a brand-new adventure play area with three slides, ball pools, climbing area, and interactive elements.

There’s a separate area for those under two; it will have a mini play frame, toddler slide, ball pool and activities for younger kids.

Parents can watch on at one of the tables surrounding the soft play and get drinks and snacks from the on-site café.

Epicland UK, Trafford

Epicland opened in July on the upper floor of Partington Shopping Centre in Trafford.

It has two soft play sections – one for twos and under and another for children aged three to nine years.

Inside is a light up racing slide and a light up warp slide along with role play areas and a ball pit.

It also has sand play, craft areas, role play and little trampolines – there’s also a mini climbing wall and a racing track with little cars.

Derby Way, Bury

This soft play may not open for a while as plans have only just been submitted to transform a former car showroom in Bury.

It will transform from its vacant unit into a new children’s indoor activity park for children aged 0 to 11.

Planning documents reveal the indoor play centre would feature soft play areas, seating, party rooms, and a café.

Customers would be able to book two hour play slots, which would start in 30 minute intervals.

Fun Parx, Banbury

This centre coming to Banbury has a bit more than soft play with Ninja obstacle courses and super slides.

Fun Parx has enormous Inflatable Monster Course where kids can race each other to the end.

Of course, for smaller kid, s here is a soft play called Critter Castle with its own ball pit, slides and turret to climb.

For gamers, there will be a retro arcade with throwback games, and the on-site cafe will serve up pizza, fries, hot dogs and soft drinks.

It was set an opening time of ‘summer 2026′, so is likely to open soon.

Sprouts Play Barn, Abingdon

Known as being a large, farm-themed indoor and outdoor soft play centre – Sprouts Play Barn has plenty to shout about.

It has a four- lane cow slide, tunnel slide, farmer’ s market role-play, a floor piano, sports court and a designated area for unde5s’s

In July work began on a new play area for even younger children.

Called ‘Crawlers & Cruisers’ it will be a soft play zone designed specifically for babies and toddlers who are not yet walking.

It’s set to open in December or January 2027.

AFTER months of extreme heat, there is rain on the horizon, so where should you spend a bank holiday weekend when it’s a washout?

To keep the family entertained we’ve put together the UK’s best indoor waterparks with tropical temperatures, high-energy waterslides and family-friendly pirate ships.

Waterworld, Stoke-on-Trent

Waterworld describes itself as the “number one indoor tropical aqua park” with over 30 rides and attractions.

The waterpark is home to a wave pool and rapids as well as the Thunderbolt ride, which is the UK’s first trap door drop waterslide and riders travel at 25mph.

One of the newest rides, Hurricane, descends at 17mph with lightning effects inside the tunnels.

There are also dedicated water attractions for younger children like the interactive Jungle House and Toddler Boat slide.

For anyone looking for a moment to catch their breath, take a break in one of the waterparks’ bubble pools.

Waterworld also has a mini adventure golf course as well as a restaurant and cafe serving up pizza, burgers, salads and drinks.

At reception is a brand new dessert bar where post-swim you can pick up a milkshake or one of the 22 different flavours of ice cream.

Tickets for adults and children start from £17.70, children under three-years-old start from £6.10.

Coral Reef Waterworld, Bracknell

This indoor waterpark is one of England’s biggest, so it’s perfect for a family outing on a rainy day.

It has tropical temperatures of 30C along with a giant pirate ship and erupting water volcano, rapid river, bubble pool and children’s splash zone.

The pirate-themed splash area is centered around a huge ship called The Coralina – it also has water cannons and interactive water features.

There are five high-tech waterslides with an option for everyone from Aquaplash which is suitable for smaller children.

The biggest waterslide is The Cannon, which launches riders down a 67 metre-long chute like a cannonball.

Poseidon’s Peril is another popular ride where two people are attached to an inflatable raft as it rotates and swirls through a tunnel with colour-changing lights.

If you’re after relaxation, then the Coral Spa is the place to be with heated loungers, three saunas, a cool pool and a Japanese steam room.

Adult tickets cost £20.55, children 5-16 cost £14.55 those aged children between 0-4 cost £1.95. Book tickets ahead online.

Splashdown Waterpark, Poole

If adrenaline-filled waterslide fun is what you’re after, then head to Splashdown Waterpark.

This action-packed waterpark has 13 indoor and outdoor flumes that visitors can use whether it’s rain or shine.

If you’re a daredevil, then check out The Screamer. The ride plummets a near-vertical 40-meter drop in under five seconds.

Or there’s Black Thunder which is a waterslide that’s completely in the dark. The Infinity waterslide plays music and has a flashing laser show too.

It’s not all about the big rides though, there’s plenty to do for the little ones with the interactive water cannons at Buccaneer Splash.

Admission for three hours costs £23 per person, £9 for 1-4-year-olds and £6 for children under 1. (Child tickets include entry for a companion adult.)

The Wave, Coventry

The Wave in Coventry is a giant indoor waterpark home to the largest wave pool in England.

The enormous pool has a wave machine which churns out more than 20 million litres of water per day – the rolling waves get bigger the further out you go.

When you want to relax, ditch the waves and bob along the lazy river.

There are six waterslides including The Riptide which is a half-pipe slide that blasts riders in a rubber ring down a near-90-degree drop.

The Cyclone spins swimmers around a giant open bowl, and The Rapids which is a ‘water-coaster’ hurl riders uphill before dropping them down through tight corners and tunnels.

For younger children, The Reef is its splash pad which has its own miniature slides, tipping buckets, jets and water fountains.

The Mana Spa has you a quieter spa pool, an aromatherapy room, sauna and steam room.

Tickets cost £15 per adult, £13 for children 11 and under and under ones go free.

Sandcastle Waterpark, Blackpool

Sandcastle Waterpark is another of the country’s largest indoor waterparks that sits on the South Promenade opposite the Pleasure Beach.

Inside the tropical waterpark are 18 slides and plenty of them are white-knuckle rides.

One of the most popular rides is The Master Blaster which is the UK’s longest water rollercoaster.

Another is Sidewinder which is the world’s first indoor half-pipe waterslide, then there’s Aztec Falls which plunges riders into darkness before spinning them around a giant bowl.

The Caribbean Storm Treehouse is a spot for the kids – it’s a giant climbing frame topped with a huge coconut that drops 600 gallons of water on swimmers below every few minutes.

Little ones can also use the multi-lane Treetops Water Chutes and the interactive HMS Thunder Splash pirate ship.

While there’s lots of action, the Sandcastle Waterpark also has a place for relaxation – the adult-only Sea Breeze Spa which has saunas, steam rooms, foot baths and aromatherapy lounge.

For anyone wanting to push the boat out, the park offers premium Tiki Cabanas for adults with its own TV and private hot tub with a fridge stocked with soft drinks – VIP packages start from £60pp.

Tickets to the waterpark start from £23.31 for ages 8+ and £13.96 for kids aged 3-7, with under 3s going free.

Calypso Cove, Barnsley

Found inside the Barnsley Metrodome, Calypso Cove is the ultimate pirate-themed indoor waterpark.

The tropical island paradise feels like one too as it’s heated to 30C and there are some high-energy water rides here like Terror Torrent, one of the UK’s fastest indoor water flumes.

There’s also The Eruption, a volcano-themed ride that spins you around a large bowl before dropping you out at the bottom.

The Kraken is a family-friendly flume where riders can choose their own music before sliding down the slide.

Families with younger kids can climb onto the decks of the Sunken Galleon ship play area.

Parents with babies and toddlers can enjoy the shallow waters and water fountains at Barnacle Bay.

For a bite to eat, head to The Hideout poolside cafe which serves up quick dishes like burgers and chips.

The Playhive at Stockeld Park in North Yorkshire is one of the biggest indoor playgrounds in the UK.

Inside is everything from massive spaceships – with rocket walkways, ladders and nets – to planes and submarines.

Jungle-themed climbing walls and under-the-sea play areas are also part of the attraction – there are even toddler-friendly areas too.

Activate, London

Activate is a popular immersive experience with nine different rooms filled with games.

You can have a go at dodging lasers, digital dodgeball, basketball and challenges to test reflexes.

There are four venues across London: The O2, Oxford Street, Vauxhall, Westfield White City and Islington and children have to be over six-years-old.

Woodlands Family Theme Park, Devon

Woodlands Family Theme Park is home to Devon‘s largest soft play.

Inside there are drop slides, ball pools, climbing tubes, obstacles even an Ice Palace.

In the Circus Drome Zone there’s even more soft play as well as a bouncy castle, rope swings and slides for kids.

Play Factore, Manchester

Play Factore in Manchester has the tallest standing indoor slide in the UK as well as a laser tag arena.

Kids can enjoy a bounce on the interactive ValoJump trampolines, the zip wire and play frame which has network of tunnels, slides and obstacles.

In the Toddler Area, there are two floors of play designed for kids under the age of five.

Riverside Hub, Northampton

The Riverside Hub will keep children entertained for hours with lots of different zones to explore and an enormous climbing frame with a huge beanstalk climbing wall.

There’s a Role Play Village too where kids can use their imagination to explore a make-believe world, with a cafe, shop, witch’s house and tooth fairy dentist.

Inside is also a football pitch and a dedicated zone for toddlers with ball pits and activity walls.

Tickets to the Riverside Hub start from £7.45 for adults and £12.50 for children.

Flip Out

Flip Out are family-friendly trampoline and adventure parks filled with more activities than you can imagine.

The facilities vary depending on location, but most have a whole floor of trampolines for bouncing about, as well as inflatable obstacle courses and even a Ninja playground.

Some venues also have soft play centres and ones dedicated to toddlers.

There are over 30 Flip Out venues across the UK too so one is bound to be near you – tickets start from £8.

Gravity Max

These massive entertainment venues are great for a rainy day with lots of activities to try out.

There’s electric go-karts, digital darts, street golf, karaoke, an arcade with lots of classic games and even AR bowling.

At the sports bar there are food stalls and live sporting events are shown on the TV.

There are Gravity Max venues in Liverpool, Cardiff, Yorkshire and London and tickets vary in cost depending on activities but start from £10.99.

Junkyard Golf Club

Anyone who is a fan of crazy golf should head to one of the putting venues of Junkyard Golf Club – of which there are six in the UK.

The venues are known for their uniquely designed courses which are all made from reclaimed items.

The very creative golf course themes go from Circus Fear-Ground to Polluted Paradise, 90s Garage Scrapyard and Basement Horror.

TeamSport, Warrington

There are 38 TeamSport tracks around the UK – but the one in Warrington has the UK’s biggest indoor track at 1000 metres.

There are 22 corners and a Monaco-style tunnel split over three levels, so it will prove to be a challenge whether or not you’re a pro-driver.

Their e-karts hit speeds of 40mph and the average lap time is just over a minute – if you’re really fast you might appear on the leaderboard.

Arcade Club

Arcade Club is the perfect spot for gamers where you can return to the golden age of gaming with these classics.

From pinball machines to Astro Blaster and Pac-Man, it’s the best place for a bit of pixel nostalgia – the arcades can be found in Blackpool, Leeds and Bury.

They also have food and drink on site, offering pizzas, burgers, hot dogs and nachos at their restaurants.

Adult tickets to Arcade Club are £18 with children under 16s being able to get their game on for £10.

A NEW Therme resort is under construction in the UK and is making huge strides towards opening.

Therme Manchester is set to be complete by 2028 and will have everything from huge swimming pools, waterslides and even beaches.

The Therme Group has announced that they have reached their first milestone of 12 tower cranes being built.

It said the progress marked “the start of an exciting new phase of construction for Therme Manchester“.

On social media it continued: “Over the coming months, these cranes will play a key role in bringing our vision to life. Creating an amazing destination where wellbeing, relaxation and fun come together.

“This is just the beginning. Stay tuned as we continue to build something extraordinary!”

The £500m resort will be set across 28 acres making it the “largest water-based wellbeing destination in Europe.”

Inside the resort, visitors can expect a large-scale waterpark with more than 25 waterslides as well as a wave pool.

It will be heated to 33C and will have lots of spa and wellness facilities that will be split into three distinct zones called Play, Relax and Restore.

The Play zone will focus on ‘next-generation’ water fun, as well as a a warm water pool, steam rooms, saunas as well as lounging and family dining experiences.

This zone will also have an outdoor beach.

In the Relax zone – which will be adults-only – there will be a “focus on premium wellbeing experiences” as well as indoor and outdoor pools, waterfall showers, mineral baths, steam rooms, saunas and casual dining.

Finally, in the Restore Zone – the second adults-only area – there will be “industry leading health, nutrition and wellbeing therapies”, “sauna rituals”, experience showers, wellbeing consultations and dining.

Therme Manchester is set to become “UK’s largest paid-for tourist attraction” and see just over three million people each year.

This will be the first Therme site in the UK, joining one in Erding, Germany and one in Bucharest, Romania.

There are activities designed for teens too, including mocktail-making sessions – every evening kicks off with a children’s show but there are also cabaret performances and silent discos.

GF Victoria, Tenerife

Children will be obsessed with the kids’ club play area at GF Victoria in Tenerife which has a whole programme of activities.

There’s a Baby Club too where little ones can play and craft at the Mini Club; kids can race around on the track. There’s also a Teen Club with gaming, DJ sets, table football and air hockey.

For more action, there’s an adventure park with a climbing wall, hanging bridges, zip line and tree houses.

This hotel is a children’s haven thanks to its ample amount of activities not to mention warm weather.

When it comes to activities, Club Nick offers unforgettable experiences for children with themed activities, play areas, and beloved Nickelodeon characters.

It doesn’t stop there either as there are themed rooms inspired by SpongeBob SquarePants, PAW Patrol, Dora, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, and Star Trek.

Daios Cove Hotel, Crete

This hotel sits on a hillside overlooking its private bay on the north-east part of Crete.

Run by Scott Dunn, this hotel has a specially designed programme for children from babies to 11-year-olds.

For children aged 5-7, the Voyagers Kids Club includes activities like watersports, semi submarine trips and mocktail masterclasses.
