ITV’s next true crime doc delves into the deaths of three students who were hypnotised by a teacher.
Look Into My Eyes was first released in the US three years ago and now it’s finally made its way to the UK, landing on ITVX today, Tuesday, August 18.
The True Crime Story doc explores the story of former North Port High School principal Dr George Kenney in Sarasota, Florida who was hypnotising his students.
He reportedly “put them under” to help teens with their athletic performances and anxiety ahead of taking exams and is believed to have hypnotised around 70 students in a five-year span.
But in 2011, Kenney was under investigation as he admitted to hypnotising three students who all tragically died within months of each other.
Star quarterback Marcus Freeman, 16, died in a car accident, and the following two months, fellow teens Brittany Palumbo and Wesley McKinley also died by suicide.
The four-part special takes a look at Kenney’s interventions and their role in the students’ lives. The official description further explains that it “investigates events leading up to these untimely deaths and the tragic aftermath as victims’ families, eyewitnesses, experts, and people involved attempt to unpack what really happened.
In the trailer for Look Into My Eyes, a parent of one of the deceased teens is heard tearily saying: “This man has ruined my life”, while another man stated: “This man just wanted to help.”
Kenney pleaded no contest to two misdemeanour counts of the unlawful practice of hypnosis without a license. He was sentenced to one year of probation, 50 hours of community service and resigned from his position as principal at North Port High School, according to the docu-series.
NBC reported that Freeman, McKinley and Palumbo’s parents sues Sarasota County school board for the wrongful deaths of the teens, stating that the school should have stopped Kenney from performing hypnosis.
In October 2015, each of the families reached a maximum sum of $200,000.
The new release is rising through the ranks already, but viewers are warned they will need a “sick bucket”
Neil Hopper had his own legs amputated in 2019(Image: Neil Hopper/YouTube)
One of the “sickest” documentaries viewers have ever seen is rising up the ranks as a strong fan warning has been issued.
An Amputation Obsession: The Monster and the Surgeon was released on Prime Video earlier this week (August 13) and already it is making waves amongst viewers.
The two-part series delves into the real life disturbing story of NHS vascular surgeon Neil Hopper, from Cornwall, who lost his own legs to amputation.
After claiming a mystery illness resulted in sepsis and injuries to his legs, Neil was seen as a ‘hero’ and a symbol of hope when he documented his journey and recovery, even going back to work.
But years later, police uncovered a dark reality and horrific secrets that Neil kept hidden from everyone. In 2019, he deliberately caused irreversible damage to his legs that resulted in an amputation of both limbs before he claimed hundreds of thousands of pounds in fraudulent insurance payouts.
When a whistle-blower set out to expose an underground network devoted to extreme body modifications, police discovered Neil’s truth.
Rising up the ranks already, an official synopsis reads: “Vascular surgeon Neil Hopper becomes a symbol of hope after losing both legs, until an investigation uncovers a hidden obsession and secret life.”
Some true crime fans have already binged the two part series, and have issued a strong warning. One person took to TikTok to recommend the “crazy” watch as they said in a video: “Honestly, the things what some people get off on never ceases to amaze me.”

They added: “It’s absolutely crazy”, as one person replied: “Just watched this it’s so messed up.” Another dubbed it as “shocking” as a third penned: “The f*** This was insane.”
In another video, one person said: “Yous need to watch this immediately but get a sick bucket before you do because oh my god, it’s horrifying.”
They went on to say: “The biggest trigger warning that I have ever, ever put on a video needs to be put on this documentary. Let’s just say your jaw will be on the floor.”
Another commented: “Only managed the first episode. Felt way too sick to continue.” One person admitted: “I think it’s the sickest documentary I’ve ever seen.”
An Amputation Obsession: The Monster and the Surgeon can be streamed on Prime Video
The hit landmark documentary has been a firm favourite amongst fans since it was first released in 2014, following a local police force as they investigate serious crimes.
Plunged into the heart of an investigation, the award-winning series follows officers from the moment a 999 call is made, right through to conviction as detectives fight against the clock for justice.
Earlier this week, Channel 4 teased that brand new episodes could be released very soon, sending viewers into a frenzy. Now, the broadcaster has dropped another tantalising update, leaving fans of the show on the edge of their seats.
Taking to Facebook, the Channel 4 documentaries page shared a picture of a to-do list captioned: “Busy week ahead.”
The tasks listed on the image included: “1. Apologise to the legal team (again. 2. Collect rain coat from lost property. 3. Leak details of new 24 Hours in Police Custody. 4. Find out why our office pass doesn’t work anymore.”
The post hints that a major update could be released this week, and that brand new episodes may be on the way very soon. However, fans are still awaiting any official news, with the upcoming TV guide not giving anything away.
One person commented: “Ooooh, new 24 hours? Can’t wait.” Another said: “If they fire you we will hire you on the spot over at 24 Hours in Police Custody Group , we’ve got your 6.”
A third penned: “Oooh, teasing”, as a fourth echoed: “Number 3 only. Thank you…patiently waits for said leak.”
A fourth stated: “24 Hours in Police Custody is the best thing on C4, but can anyone help me understand why they’re not weekly, & just randomly appear? No ‘season’, just every now & again a new one’s there.”
A fifth replied: “#3 – we love watching that!” Another echoed: “Yes more 24 hours coming up. One of the best programmes on TV bar none!”
Earlier this year, new episodes were aired on Channel 4 before being replaced with repeats, a move which did not go down well with viewers at the time.
With calls for more episodes, it could be that prayers may be answers very soon. In the meantime, 24 Hours in Police Custody can be streamed on Channel 4 online.
A new true crime documentary revisits the story of an amputee surgeon’s web of lies
Marius Gustavson was the mastermind of an extreme body modifications enterprise
A police investigation into human butchery and a monster known as the ‘Eunuch Maker’ is the centre of a new true crime documentary, and it makes for a disturbing watch.
An Amputation Obsession: The Monster and the Surgeon explores the real life story of NHS surgeon Neil Hopper who, in 2019, lost his own legs to amputation following what he said was a result of a mystery illness.
Upon returning back to work, Neil performed amputations as part of his role at the Royal Cornwall Hospital, and often took to social media and news outlets to share his own journey.
He even claimed over £466,000 in insurance payouts after he claimed his injuries were a result of sepsis, becoming somewhat of a national hero and symbol of hope. However, he hid a dark secret that nobody could have guessed.
His leg amputations were a result of self-inflicted injuries, meaning he fraudulently claimed insurance payouts. Not only that, but he was investigated for paying to access a website which sold videos of amputations.
The new documentary explores the disturbing case and Neil’s connection to the ‘Eunuch Maker’.
Who is ‘Eunuch Maker’ Marius Gustavson and where is he now?
The Metropolitan Police were looking into the ‘Eunuch Maker’ website which was run by Marius Gustavson. It offered pay to view access to chilling videos of extreme body modifications and mutilations on customers.
These extreme videos included the cutting the genitals off of men to make them ‘eunuchs’, which is a male who has been castrated. Marius was the ringleader, with the procedures often being carried out in his own home which would sometimes go wrong, meaning ambulances were called.
The programme hears from one journalist who says the nature of the evidence was “so extreme” and hard to hear, with Marius earning around £300,000 in profits from the site over a period of around four years.

After a brave victim came forward, the website was eventually brought down and it was through this investigation that police learned about Neil Hopper’s own involvement and the dark reality about what really happened to his legs.
In May 2024, Marius appeared before the courts and issued a guilty plea to 13 offences including multiple counts of causing grievous bodily harm with intent. He was handed a life sentence with a minimum term of 22 years, meaning he will still be in prison now.
At the time, nine others also received sentences ranging from suspended sentences to 12 years imprisonment for their roles in the investigation.

A Child of My Own explores what happened when a woman faked a pregnancy and kidnapped a newborn.
Netflix has released the one-off true crime special A Child of My Own, telling the story of Mexican native Eleonor Alejandra Marin Mendoza who committed the unspeakable crime in June 2009.
Alejandra was already pregnant when she married Arturo Calderon Gamino at just 17, but suffered the first of several miscarriages and went through IVF in her 20s.
Facing pressure from her family and society to become a mother, she didn’t tell anyone about her miscarriage at 26 and instead faked a full-term pregnancy.
Working as an administrator at a hospital, she came up with a plan to steal a newborn from the maternity ward with CCTV footage showing her walking out with a baby girl in a large gift bag.
After seeing the baby, Arturo realised that Alejandra hadn’t been pregnant and, after authorities were able to track her down a few hours later, the couple were arrested at a hotel in Mexico City.
Is Alejandra from A Child of My Own still in prison?

Jose Mourinho’s three-part Netflix documentary is available to watch at no extra cost for Sky customers as the provider gives away free subscriptions with each of its Sky Stream TV bundles.
Alejandra was convicted of kidnapping, specifically of the illegal deprivation of liberty of a minor, in 2011 and given a 13-year prison sentence.
Alejandra has now served her time and is no longer in prison, having been released in 2023, while her husband Arturo was acquitted of any wrongdoing after spending two years behind bars.
At the end of A Child of My Own, which was filmed two years after her prison release, Alejandra is still residing in Mexico but a lot has changed.
She shared that Arturo didn’t want to give up on his dreams of being a father but Alejandra didn’t want to go through with another pregnancy or more treatment.
The pair briefly broke up and Arturo then began another relationship, welcoming a baby son with a different woman before they also split.
However, Arturo and Alejandra rekindled their romance shortly after as she explained: “It makes me very happy to see him smile and to be fulfilled as a father.
“It makes me even happier that he sees me in his life as a mother or a parent to his son.”
The Netflix documentary ends with Arturo and Alejandra happily playing with his young son in the park.
A Child of My Own is available to watch on Netflix.
One Redditor recently asked people for their suggestions on little-known documentaries that “blew your socks off” which brought in over 2,000 responses. The resulting recommendations spanned nature, crime and the weird and wonderful, exposing a multitude of stories that may have otherwise flown under the radar.
My Octopus Teacher
One of the most-suggested titles was My Octopus Teacher. Released back in 2020, the feature-length documentary film follows diver Craig Foster and the surprising bond he formed with an octopus over the course of a year.
Fans of the film described it as “not your typical nature doc”, while another said they “don’t eat octopus because of this movie.” As per its official synopsis: “A filmmaker forges an unusual friendship with an octopus living in a South African kelp forest, learning as the animal shares the mysteries of her world.”
The title actually won the Academy Award for Best Documentary Feature back in 2021, so you know it’s going to be good. You can currently stream it on Netflix.
The Wild and Wonderful Whites of West Virginia
Jackass star Johnny Knoxville is among the producers credited on this 2009 documentary about an infamous outlaw family living in West Virginia. The film’s director Julien Nitzberg spent an entire year with five generations of the White family in rural Appalachia.
The New York Times called it “compelling and complicated”, while one viewer dubbed it “one of the craziest docs to ever exist.” Another claimed: “Had a friend who grew up near that family. She said it is 100% accurate.”
While it isn’t readily available for streaming, the 10th Anniversary Edition can be rented or purchased via Prime Video. Alternatively, eager documentary fans can buy a physical copy.
Three Identical Strangers
A stranger-than-fiction tale, Three Identical Strangers, released in 2018, tells the incredible true story of how a set of triplets separated at birth somehow found each other again.
Bobby Shafran, Eddy Galland and David Kellman’s unique story sees them catapulted to celebrity status on a global scale, but a horrifying discovery about their beginnings casts a dark shadow over their lives.
The BAFTA-nominated film has a run time of just over an hour and a half and is currently available to purchase via YouTube, Apple TV and Prime Video. Sadly it is not included in any streaming service subscriptions at the moment.
Class Action Park
Another 2020 release is Class Action Park, which chronicles an amusement park in New Jersey and the high number of injuries that occurred there. In total there were six recorded deaths at the attraction before it closed down in 1996.
Available to watch on HBO Max, the documentary features newly-unearthed recordings and documents, as well as interviews with people who visited it for themselves and lived to tell the tale.
Its synopsis reads: “To some, New Jersey’s infamous Action Park was the most spectacularly fun amusement park on Earth: A place where unruly 1980s teenagers were given free rein to go gonzo on strange contraptions that seemed to violate the laws of common sense (and perhaps physics). To others, it was an ill-conceived death trap. One thing is sure: It’s the type of place that will never exist again.”
Jiro Dreams of Sushi
Currently available for free streaming via Plex, 2011 film Jiro Dreams of Sushi centres on 85-year-old Jiro Ono as he attempts to realise his life-long quest of making the most perfect piece of sushi.
He was the first sushi chef to earn three Michelin stars and considered the world’s best at what he does, but he is still not content that he has achieved perfection. Filmed at his world-famous Tokyo restaurant, Sukiyabashi Jiro, the documentary also follows his son, Yoshikazu, as he struggles with the pressure of trying to follow in his father’s footsteps.
The documentary has an impressive Rotten Tomatoes rating of 99 per cent from critics and an equally solid 91 per cent from audiences. One viewer shared: “It’s about a sushi restaurant, but is really about one man’s absolute, laser focus on absolute 100.0000% perfection. Odd title, odd theme, but an incredible documentary.”
Murder 24/7 has returned this week with a harrowing two-part special titled Natural Born Killer. Returning for its third series earlier this month, the true crime documentary takes viewers right into the heart of murder investigations across the UK.
Following West Mercia Police, the show, which sees detectives racing against the clock to ensure justice is done, has been dubbed better than Channel 4’s 24 Hours in Police Custody.
Last night (August 4), viewers were horrified after a harrowing episode delved into the murder of 54-year-old Jamie Gawler who was brutally killed and found by officers dead in an armchair with a towel thrown over his head.
Tonight (August 5), the second episode will air at 9pm on BBC One, as detectives continue their investigation into suspect Matthew Jonathan. A synopsis reads: “In Hereford, detectives continue to build their case against Matthew Jonathan for the murder of 54-year-old Jamie Gawler.
“The suspect maintains a ‘no comment’ stance in interviews, so the team is relying on digital and physical forensics to piece together the final days of Jamie’s life.”
It adds: “A critical forensic breakthrough comes when analysts match an incomplete, bloody footprint from the scene to Jonathan’s rare boots via a national database. Soon after, investigators recover a series of phone videos that reveal the true extent of the assault.”
In the episode, officers can be seen analysing a mobile phone recovered, believed to be Matthew’s, before discovering harrowing video footage on it which appears to show him assaulting Jamie.
The clips were played out as detectives watched on in horror. In the video footage, Matthew can be heard laughing and saying: “Don’t give me that broken face b******.”
He later instructs his victim: “Lift your head up,” before levelling abuse at him. He then adds: “I’ll do 30 years for this, I don’t care.”
The episode then sees officers showing Matthew the footage as one detective can be heard saying: “This is now two days into what I would describe as torture.”
Matthew Jonathan was eventually charged with murder as the episode explains three months later, he pleaded guilty to the charge. At sentencing, Matthew received a life sentence with a minimum of 32 years.
With all episodes available to stream on BBC iPlayer, viewers were horrified after watching the latest instalments this week. Taking to TikTok, one true crime fan admitted their “jaw was on the floor watching this show.”
In the video, they added: “Wow. Absolutely brutal…. I couldn’t believe them episodes, they were brutal.” Another replied: “I love watching this programme but those two were brutal.”
Murder 24/7 has returned to screens for its third run, once again plunging viewers into real-life murder investigations in the UK. Following West Mercia Police, viewers have so far witnessed chilling murders as detectives work against the clock in their pursuit of justice.
Last night (August 4), the first of a two-part special aired on BBC One at 9pm delving into the murder investigation of Jamie Gawler. Jamie was found dead by police in an armchair in a flat, with a towel draped over his face.
Officers were stunned to hear the horrific post-mortem results as their investigation led them miles away in South Wales and a potential suspect.
The second episode will air tonight (August 5) on BBC One at 9pm, with episodes also available to stream on BBC iPlayer. However, viewers have been left sickened by the latest instalments.
Taking to TikTok, one true crime fan admitted their “jaw was on the floor watching this show”. In the video, they added: “Wow. Absolutely brutal…. I couldn’t believe them episodes, they were brutal.”
One person commented: “Omg I’m addicted to this one bet my leccy bill sky high.” Another replied: “It was horrific”, as a third said: “It was a hard watch.”
A fourth wrote: “Just watched them both this afternoon absolutely shocking.” A fifth added: “I love watching this programme but those two were brutal.”
Another branded the latest instalment as “sickening” as one person said: “It was absolutely horrendous.” One viewer echoed: “It was about the worst of that series.”
The second part of the two-parter, titled Natural Born Killer, will return tonight at 9pm as detectives continue to build their case against suspect Matthew Jonathan.
A BBC synopsis reads: “A critical forensic breakthrough comes when analysts match an incomplete, bloody footprint from the scene to Jonathan’s rare boots via a national database. Soon after, investigators recover a series of phone videos that reveal the true extent of the assault.”
A separate case featured also sees a woman fighting for her life after a brutal assault with a meat cleaver as her partner is arrested on suspicion of attempted murder.
Following West Mercia Police, viewers witness detectives uncovering horrific truths on their search for justice as they see how a case is investigated from the moment a chilling 999 call is made.
An official synopsis teases: “In the pursuit of justice, every second counts. From the 999 call to conviction, via critical forensics and identifying suspects, follow the cases as they unfold – in real time.”
Tonight (August 4), a harrowing episode aired exploring the death of 54-year-old Jamie Gawler who was found dead in an armchair in a flat, with a towel draped over his face.
The episode sees police officers stunned by what they saw when they eventually located Jamie, as one could be heard saying: “That’s very strange if that’s how he was found.”
Viewers are then plunged into the chilling investigation that follows as forensics later examine blood splatters and evidence at the crime scene before detectives soon hear back initial post-mortem results.
Hearing the extent of Jamie’s injuries, which included lacerations to his chest as well as almost every rib being broken, a horrified DCI Gareth Lougher said: “That is just horrific.” Deputy senior investigating officer DS Emma Atherton added: “I wasn’t expecting that really.”
Saying the suspect was “really dangerous” DCI Gareth went on to say: “I was expecting it to be brutal but I don’t think I was expecting it to be quite as violent as you described.”
Delivering the results on the phone, DS Mat Crisp admitted: “I haven’t done one like that for a while.”
Later in the episode, the suspect of such violence was again dubbed “sadistic and dangerous” when detectives reviewed the brutal evidence in the case.
Viewers were also stunned by what they saw in tonight’s harrowing episode as one person wrote on X: “‘Evidence of torture’ J***s, poor bloke.”
The second part of the harrowing case will air in tomorrow evening’s episode at 9pm on BBC One. All episodes are also available to stream on BBC iPlayer.
The true crime series has previously been hailed “better than 24 Hours in Police Custody” as fans eagerly await brand new instalments.
Just this week, one person said on X: “Watching #Murder247 on @BBC I love this. It’s just as good as #24HoursInPoliceCustody on @Channel4.”
Murder 24/7 can be streamed on BBC iPlayer with new episodes released on a Tuesday and Wednesday
True crime doc The Salisbury Poisonings: A Spy Next Door airs this evening on Sky Documentaries.

Sergei Skripal and his daughter Yulia were the main targets of the poisoning
Everything there is to know about Sergei Skripal now
Eight years after the Novichok poisoning attack on ex-KGB operative Sergei Skripal and his daughter Yulia in Salisbury, a true crime doc entitled The Salisbury Poisonings: A Spy Next Door, has been released. The Sky Documentaries special takes a closer look at the terrifying incident and the aftermath which saw British national Dawn Sturgess killed after encountering the deadly nerve agent.
The 2018 attack left the Skripals unconscious on a bench in Wiltshire, with authorities believing Novichok had been applied to their front door. Dawn Sturgess, 44, tragically died after she and partner Charlie Rowley found a contaminated perfume bottle seven miles from the original scene.
A judge leading a new inquiry last year said there was an “overwhelming risk” of a physical attack on the Skripals if their whereabouts were discovered. However, Sergei told officials: “I never thought the Russian regime would have tried to murder me in UK, they could’ve killed me easily when in prison.”
After recovering from the attack, Yulia said: “We are so lucky to have both survived this attempted assassination. Our recovery has been slow and extremely painful.” She added that the assault had left a “devastating” mark on their lives. The Skripals were housed in an MI6 safe house for two years before reportedly relocating overseas under new identities, possibly to New Zealand or Australia.
Their former neighbours received a Christmas card in 2019, saying: “It’s nice to know they are thinking of us, but I don’t expect we’ll ever see them again.” The contaminated Salisbury property was decontaminated and sold to Wiltshire Council for £260,000, eventually being purchased by a local resident in 2023 as the community attempts to move forward from the traumatic events.
The three part documentary has finally been released in the UK
Don’t Date Brandon has finally been released in the UK (Image: Paramount Plus/Channel 4)
True crime fans cannot stop talking about a brand new documentary that has been dubbed a “disturbing” watch.
Don’t Date Brandon has this week been released on Channel 4, with all three episodes airing last night (July 30) as it explores two chilling relationships.
Amber Rasmussen and Athena Klingerman bravely open up on how they were manipulated by con man Brandon Johnson as the three part series exposes his elaborate web of lies and past abuse.
A Channel 4 synopsis reads: “True crime series. When Amber finds out that her husband’s a liar, she starts a podcast with his ex-wife. But as more women come forward, they discover that Brandon isn’t just a cheat; he’s dangerous.”
First airing on Paramount+ last year, Don’t Date Brandon has just been released on Channel 4, with all three episodes available to stream online for free. Despite its release in 2025, viewers are only just discovering the harrowing watch now as they say it is a must watch for everyone.
Taking to TikTok, one true crime fan said in a video: “I promise you definitely won’t want to miss this one because it is an absolutely wild ride.”
They went on to say: “As you’re watching this documentary it becomes more and more dark and more and more terrifying. What unfolds at the end of it is truly quite chilling and there are actually some very disturbing scenes in this so be aware of that.”
In another video, another viewer said: “It’s quite good.” One person commented: “Just finished Don’t Date Brandon. Started it last night – had horrible nightmares about my ex last night.”
Taking to their own video, one person admitted they were not “prepared for this documentary” as they captioned their post: “Craziest one in a while”.
Another stated they have been “waiting for the longest time” for the UK release, adding: “I cannot wait to watch this, I’ve heard great things from those of you who have already seen it.”
One person replied: “Don’t Date Brandon is amazing I watched it on YouTube crazy.”
When it was released in the USA last year, one viewer said it was one of the “most horrifying” documentaries they had watched, adding on TikTok: “Episode 3 is incredibly hard to watch.”

The Cult of NatureBoy has been dubbed a ‘bizarre’ watch(Image: ABC/Hulu)
True crime fans cannot stop talking about a “bizarre” documentary that left their jaws on the floor.
The Cult of NatureBoy is a four part documentary series that plunges viewers into the rise and fall of YouTuber Eligio Bishop, also known as ‘Nature Boy’.
Giving fans an unprecedented insight into the cult, viewers are transported back to 2016 when Eligio used social media to lure unsuspecting followers to a real-life ‘utopia’ he had founded. However, the alternative lifestyle soon turned into a cult plagued by coercion, violence and abuse.
Having first been released earlier this year on Disney Plus, the four part series follows his life and eventual trial as viewers have branded it one of the “most bizarre” documentaries they’ve ever seen.
An official synopsis reads: “The Cult of NatureBoy traces the rise of Eligio Bishop, aka NatureBoy, leader of Carbon Nation. Beginning in 2016, he used social media to attract people to a self-described Black Utopia. What began as an alternative lifestyle in the tropics became a sex cult of violence, manipulation, and coercion, ending with his 2024 trial and life sentence.”
Streaming on Disney Plus now, it comes with a strong viewer warning however, as more fans are only just discovering the relatively new watch.
Taking to TikTok this week, one true crime fan shared a video captioned: “One of the most bizarre documentaries I’ve watched.”
Content cannot be displayed without consent
They said: “What on earth have I just watched? If you’ve not seen it yet, Disney Plus have brought out a four part documentary and it’s called The Cult of NatureBoy. I’m telling you now right, this is one of the most bizarre documentaries I’ve watched.”
They later added: “I’m sorry what? It baffles me that people stayed with him, it baffles me even more that people sent him money.”
However, they went on to say: “I need to warn you because some of the things you see on it….It’s one of the maddest things I’ve watched.”
One person commented: “I watched this yesterday it’s so crazy!” Another replied: “I’ve just finished it now and my jaw is still on the b***** floor.”
A third penned: “It was mind blowing how the h**l could people let them treat them like that.” Over on X, viewers previously shared their disbelief as one person said: “#TheCultOfNatureBoy is too damn bizarre.”
Another added: “What’s absolutely terrifying are there are SO many men on this earth with the same mindset as Eligio and the most heartbreaking this is there are people who’s mindsets and upbringing will always make them the perfect victims to these monsters.”
A third commented: “Watch #TheCultOfNatureBoy if u wanna be p***** off from episode one until finale.” A fourth fumed: “This man was a walking red flag and was obviously spewing nonsense.”
The Cult of NatureBoy can be streamed on Disney Plus in the UK
The series comes from Law & Order creator Dick Wolf and examines gruesome killings from the perspectives of those directly impacted. Viewers hear from detectives and prosecutors, as well as the families of the victims.
It offers a complete overview of how law enforcement approached the cases, and how citizens were forced to mourn their loved ones.
Season 3, which is titled Homicide: New York, focuses on a serial offender who targeted victims in Central Park, a suspicious drowning at Soho House, and an unfiltered recounting of 9/11 from the officers who were at Ground Zero.
While many Netflix subscribers may have missed the show, those who caught it upon its release were thoroughly impressed.
An IMDb user raved “we need more,” before writing: “Amazing!! The editing was simply perfect, but the true stories oh my they were so sad but very interesting to hear.
“The people behind all the hard work to find out the results were brilliant and very well spoken about the cases and families involved! Need another 5 episodes!!!”

Worst Neighbor Ever can be streamed on Netflix(Image: Netflix)
A “disturbing” true crime series that gives viewers nightmares is available to stream in full.
Earlier this week (July 1), streaming giant Netflix released four part series Worst Neighbor Ever, which comes from the same creators of shows Worst Ex Ever and Worst Roommate Ever.
Spanning across four episodes, it plunges viewers into real life neighbour disputes that often escalate to violence, and even murder. Through chilling body cam and CCTV footage as well as heartbreaking interviews with victims, the series also offers a unique approach by using animated re-enactments.
Promising to show cases that are “more shocking than ever”, an official synopsis teased: “You think you know your neighbors? Think again.
“This new series features first-hand accounts of violence, intimidation, and harassment that are more shocking than ever. Through compelling testimonials, startling body cam footage, and animated re-enactments, Worst Neighbor Ever proves the people next door aren’t just a nuisance – they’re lethal.”
The cases included a huge insurance scam explosion that had a catastrophic impact on one community, as well as a suspect’s chilling moves before a brutal shooting that left one dad dead.
Already, Worst Neighbor Ever has found itself in the top 10, surpassing other new releases taking the top spot.
Viewers cannot stop binge watching the four part anthology series, with some having “nightmares” from the harrowing cases shown.

The chilling calls to emergency services after a huge insurance scam explosion have been revealed in a brutal true crime documentary series.
This week, Netflix dropped anthology series Worst Neighbor Ever, which follows on from Worst Ex Ever and Worst Roommate Ever.
This time, it explores real life neighbour disputes that take a fatal turn. Plunging viewers into a series of events including intimidation and violence, it uses real life bodycam footage and CCTV to highlight what occurred.
As well as hearing heartbreaking accounts from victims, the true crime series also stands out with its use of animated re-enactments to tell the stories.
An official synopsis reads: “You think you know your neighbors? Think again. This new series features firsthand accounts of violence, intimidation, and harassment that are more shocking than ever.
“Through compelling testimonials, startling body cam footage, and animated reenactments, Worst Neighbor Ever proves the people next door aren’t just a nuisance – they’re lethal.”
The second episode plunges viewers back to 2012 when a huge explosion wreaked devastation on one tight knit community in Indiana. On November 10, 2012, Monserrate ‘Moncy’ Shirley’s home exploded, leaving two people in the vicinity dead and many others injured, destroying dozens of homes.
But when investigators find the real cause, lives were changed forever. The episode hears from the neighbours who were at home that evening as well as revealing what Moncy was really like, as well as her new boyfriend at the time Mark Leonard.
Following the huge explosion, one neighbour can be heard saying: “At first, we thought we were being bombed. Our whole house lifted up off the foundation.”
Another said: “It was like one of those mortar fireworks going off right next to your house.”
Showing chilling video footage of the explosion and the flames, the documentary also showcased some of the heartbreaking calls made to the emergency services.
In one phone call, a neighbour said: “Something literally just exploded”, as another asked: “What just happened?” A third said: “We had a large boom, I don’t know if it was a bomb, a gun went off or what.”
Detailing the aftermath, one resident said: “The flames were just massive. The street looked like it had snowed, but this bright light of fire is in the distance.”
A call between emergency services continued: “We’ve had an explosion at a house, we’re going to need medics, IFD, it’s going to be a major incident control.”
The episode explores how Moncy, her boyfriend Mark and his brother had plotted to start a fire that would result in an insurance payout, however, their plan resulted in a huge explosion that wreaked devastation for years afterwards.
It centres on David Burroughs, a father wrongfully imprisoned for his young son Matthew’s murder. But when he discovers Matthew may be alive, David is forced to escape and uncover the truth.
The show only has eight episodes, which many viewers have already devoured over the last week.

For those who are passionate about true crime, one television critic has shone a spotlight on a brand new Netflix documentary that he insists is a “must-watch”.
Luke Eccleston went further, describing the programme as the finest of 2026 so far, and predicted it would soon become the “top trending” title on the streaming giant. “The documentary I am talking about is called Maternal Instinct,” he revealed in a TikTok video. Despite running at just 90 minutes long, Luke enthuses that it will have all viewers “hooked” from after just five minutes.
“This tells a story from back in 2020 where a young woman is driving down the highway, she gets pulled over by the police and she has a baby on her lap, which had just been born,” he continued.

Expanding on the plot, Luke explained that once the woman and baby are taken into custody by law enforcement, tests quickly reveal the pair are not related. “What comes next is genuinely insane,” he declared.
Keen not to discourage his followers from watching, Luke pressed on: “The more you learn about the story, this woman and what happened… it is one of the most brutal, heartbreaking, emotional and horrible stories you will ever come across.
“Everyone is going to be talking about this documentary – I guarantee it.”
Netflix’s Maternal Instinct synopsis states: “In a small East Texas town, a young woman from a wealthy family falls for a local hog trapper. Their relationship appears perfect, and within months she’s pregnant and proudly showing off her baby bump all over social media.
“But when a state trooper pulls her over and discovers she has just given birth in her car, her story quickly falls apart, exposing the truth behind a terrifying and unthinkable crime.”
Helmed by Jessica Dimmock, Maternal Instinct chronicles the lives of Jessica Brookes, her boyfriend Wade Griffin, Taylor Parker and Reagan Simmons-Hancock.
On IMDb, the documentary has garnered an impressive rating of 7.4 out of 10 from almost 2,000 reviews.
One viewer confessed in a recent review: “I was not prepared! I went into this documentary completely blind, with no idea where the story was headed. It begins with a mystery. Something seemingly impossible has happened.
“But how? As the pieces slowly fall into place, the story takes an increasingly dark turn, far darker than I ever expected. And I have seen my share… the reveal is a complete and utter gut punch and at one point brought tears to my eyes. And I will have to leave it at that.”
And a second added: “I had never read anything about this case, so I went into this doc knowing nothing of the background or repercussions. I was horrified at how one person could destroy so many lives.
“The documentary pursues the whole journey of the perpetrator extraordinarily well, piecing together her journey for the past 10 or so years of her life where her lies keep getting worse.”
The inmate’s story is explored in viral documentary The Crash, which takes viewers through the tragedy that put Mackenzie behind bars.
Mackenzie was just 17 years old when she crashed her car into a brick wall at 100mph. Passengers Dominic Russo, 20, and Davion Flanagan, 19, sadly died at the scene. The driver survived, but she was left seriously injured.
What originally seemed like a devastating accident, though, soon turned into a murder investigation.
The teenager was later found guilty on all counts and received two 15-to-life sentences with the possibility parole.
While the documentary offers an in-depth look at the case and trial, fans have been left wondering when exactly the crime took place.
When did the Mackenzie Shirilla crash happen?
Mackenzie crashed her vehicle into a brick wall in the early hours of July 31, 2022.
Her bench trial, which means a trial ruled by a judge instead of a jury, took place a year later. She was found guilty on all counts on August 14, 2023 and later handed two consecutive 15-year sentences. She will not be eligible for parole until 2037.
The documentary explores Mackenzie’s relationship with the victims, as well as her wider friendship circle. Viewers also hear from her loved ones as they try to paint a picture of the days leading up to the tragedy.
