Fan sues LeBron James for ‘deception’ after ‘Second Decision’ tease

A fan who spent hundreds of dollars for tickets to what he thought would be one of LeBron James’ final NBA games is looking to recoup the money in small claims court after it turned out “The Second Deicision” teased by the Lakers superstar had nothing to do with his retirement.

Norwalk resident Andrew Garcia filed a claim Tuesday in Los Angeles County Superior Court that states that James owes him $865.66 because of “fraud, deception, misrepresentation, and any and all basis of legal recovery.”

Garcia told The Times that he spent that amount for two tickets to the Lakers’ game against the Cleveland Cavaliers on March 31, 2026, at Crypto.com Arena , thinking it would be the 40-year-old NBA icon’s final game against the team that drafted him in 2003.

He and other basketball fans were under that impression after James posted Monday on X that he would be announcing “the decision of all decisions” the next day. The post included a video clip teasing “The Second Decision,” a clear reference to 2010’s “The Decision,” in which James famously announced he was going to “take my talents to South Beach” to play for the Miami Heat.

Garcia said he purchased the tickets within 10 minutes of James’ social media post.

“I was like, ‘Holy s—, LeBron is going to retire! We’ve got to get tickets now,’” the 29-year-old Garcia said. “Like, literally, because if he formally makes this announcement, you know, there’s gonna be some significant price changes, right?”

Garcia is a huge fan of the Lakers and James, as well as an avid basketball fan in general, so he thought it would be cool to see the NBA’s all-time leading scorer play for the last time against the team with which he started his career and brought its first title in 2016 after his return from Miami.

“Moments like that, I understand the value,” Garcia said. “There still may be some moderate value [to the tickets], however it’s not the same without him retiring. I remember Kobe’s last year, it was kind of what this would have been, per se, where every ticket was worth a lot. Every game had value. …

“I missed out on that. I was a little bit younger at the time. I obviously wasn’t in a position to where I could just buy tickets unfortunately at that age. I believe I was like 18 or 19 at the time. And that’s one of my biggest regrets as a sports fan. I really wish I could have gotten the Kobe’s last year. So I see this as a potential to kind of make up for what I lost with Kobe.”

But “The Second Decision” ended up having nothing to do with retirement. It was merely a Hennessy ad.

So now Garcia wants his money back.

“There is no circumstance absent him saying he’s gonna retire that I would have bought tickets that far in advance,” Garcia said. “I mean, I buy tickets, but I don’t buy tickets five months’ advance. I’m the kind of person that buys tickets five hours in advance. It was solely, solely, solely based on that. So that’s why I was really thinking, ‘You know what, this might be grounds for a case.’ ”

The Times reached out to an attorney said to be working with James related to the claim but did not receive an immediate response.

In light of everything that has happened this week, though, Garcia said he’d still be willing to pay the same amount of money to see James play during his eventual retirement tour.

“Of course,” Garcia said. “I would probably spend more, because life is all about memories and experiences.”

There’s more big moments ahead on Emmerdale next week in the fallout to the John Sugden drama.

There’s a new mystery for Caleb Miligan that leaves his wife Ruby concerned and wanting answers. The fallout to Gabby Thomas and Vinny Dingle’s wedding is also revealed, as we finally find out Gabby’s secret.

Villain Ray is causing more drama for teens April Windsor and Dylan Wilson, while he’s also involved with Laurel Thomas in a new twist. Liam Cavanagh faces a health scare, and his partner Chas Dingle is concerned when she learns the truth.

Charity Dingle is also struggling with her own drama, as her and Ross Barton spark suspicion. Let’s kick things off with the very vague Caleb mystery.

Caleb is asked a favour, leading to him running a secret errand. Nothing is revealed about who this is linked to or what he does, but the next day Caleb is rumbled when he tries to sneak out.

Jai ends up taking some action, but what will happen here? Elsewhere, Gabby confesses her big secret next week seemingly to her stepmother Laurel.

In a twist, amid Vinny’s own secrets, Gabby is forced to admit that she cheated on Vinny before their wedding. But who did she cheat with, and will Vinny find out?

If Gabby has it her way, she’ll take her secret to the grave – and Laurel is shocked by her refusal to confess. Gabby is hopeful Vinny will officially adopt her son Thomas, but she has no idea Vinny is hiding something of his own.

Viewers know about Vinny being attacked and threatened by thug Mike who stole from him, after he pretended to be in a similar situation to him. Mike preyed on Vinny after speaking online about the latter’s confusion over his sexuality.

Vinny is in turmoil next week as he faces testifying against Mike in court. He knows that if he does this, Gabby may uncover what he’s been hiding from her – so will he reveal all?

Teens April and Dylan get trapped in Ray’s world, as they are both lured into helping him out with his criminal ways. Despite Dylan trying to stay on the right path with a new job and help from Paddy Kirk, Ray has him firmly in his clutches.

April’s also trapped when she realises how much her and Dylan’s debts are, and Ray offers a way for her to help reduce the amount. Soon, April is handed a burner phone and is back dealing for Ray.

But towards the end of the week, Dylan is tricked into thinking that having Ray in his life is a good thing. Just as the pair believe things are looking up for them, April and Dylan seem unaware of just how much everything depends on Ray and what he’s got up his sleeve.

There could be a new romance twist too, as a spoiler reveals that none other than Laurel is “taken” with “charming” Ray. So will the pair get together, and will she unearth his criminal ways?

Also next week, Liam Cavanagh is still avoiding an appointment about his prostate after some health concerns. When an incident at the surgery sees Manpreet Sharma find out what’s going on though, Liam realises he can’t hide from this any longer.

He comes clean to his partner Chas who is devastated to hear that he fears a prostate cancer diagnosis. Finally next week, Charity Dingle’s guilt continues to impact her as she fears she is carrying Ross’ baby.

Charity heads off for a DNA test, but her and Ross’ behaviour leaves Chas suspicious. Charity and Ross face up to a 10-day wait for the DNA test results, but what will they reveal?

Emmerdale legend admits axe fears as stars tease more twists ahead

Emmerdale favourites James Hooton and Karen Blick, who play Sam and Lydia Dingle on the ITV soap, told The Mirror their hopes for future plots amid recent exits

One Emmerdale favourite confessed his fears about being axed from the ITV soap

One Emmerdale favourite confessed his fears about being axed from the ITV soap after more than two decades in the role.

The star confessed he hoped to stay on the show for years to come, grateful for his job in the Dales. Sam Dingle actor James Hooton admitted his only hope for the coming weeks and months is to “not be axed”, with his co-star Karen Blick adding she too hoped to go nowhere.

Speaking exclusively to The Mirror at the British Soap Awards 2025, James and co-star Karen teased what was ahead and spoke about the soap’s big twists. They also gave us their verdict on the big Nate Robinson murder twist, killer John and the return of Robert Sugden.

But with characters having left the show in recent months, with some cast members axed and others quitting the soap, the Lydia and Sam stars revealed they were going nowhere if it’s their choice. They told us how they hoped to stay in their roles and “not be axed”, following departures including Leyla Harding, Suzy Merton, Amy Wyatt, Amelia Spencer and Nate.

We asked James what he was hoping for coming up on the show, to which he replied: “To not get axed!” Karen then added: “That we are still there, that’ll be lovely.

“It’s a great job. I love working together [with James], it’s an absolute joy to be in the Dingles, it’s a great family. There’s no joy better than being in The Woolpack with all the Dingles or being in the village on a lovely sunny day. It’s joyous.”

James added: “Even in the winter, you still have a good laugh.” Karen responded: “It’s a joy of a job.” Karen is also hoping for more scenes between Lydia and Kim Tate, after they created a friendship onscreen and offscreen.

She said: “I love them together, and I love working with Claire King. She’s fantastic and I’ve learned so much from her. We have a cup of tea and we put the world to rights. She’s a soap icon and it’s a pleasure to work with her.”

With there being so many soap twists recently, from murder and returns to exits and storyline bombshells, the pair hinted to us that there could be more big moments on the way. Karen said: “There is always a twist, there’s always something which is what keeps you guessing.

“It keeps you viewing because you want to know what’s round the corner and what’s the next thing. The crossover sounds so exciting, I’d love to be involved. Me and James said that.”

James shared of his hopes: “Sam and Lydia in Roy’s Rolls,” to which Karen said: “I’d love that, and maybe a scene with Mary. Lydia and Mary having a lovely conversation.” James went on: “Wouldn’t it be nice but we have no power, so can you make it happen?”

We also discussed Robert’s return and the possible Robron reunion, with Karen referencing John Sugden being married to Aaron Dingle and saying: “It’s tricky, it’s not straightforward.”

As for Nate’s killer, the pair joked it could be an animal behind it just like when rapist Craig was murdered by a horse, Ice. Karen said: “Maybe a horse did it, or a cow,” with James joking: “What if it was a stray wombat over from Australia.”

Anthony Joshua to undergo surgery THIS WEEK as Eddie Hearn reveals ‘encouraging’ update with ‘big tease’ Tyson Fury

ANTHONY JOSHUA is to have surgery on his elbow THIS WEEK – as talks to finally fight “big tease” Tyson Fury move a step closer.

Joshua, 35, is yet to return since his September knockout defeat to Daniel Dubois, 27, with a secret injury delaying his comeback.

AJ has since revealed the setback was caused by a problem with his elbow – which promoter Eddie Hearn reveals is due to be fixed this week.

Hearn told SunSport: “He just goes back into camp and just can’t fire on all cylinders consistently.

“So he can go back, have a couple of sessions, bit of soreness in the elbow.

“They tried to let it rest and recover and they’ve told him that I think it’s this week, he has a small keyhole surgery in the arm.

“Clear out, and it’s four-six weeks, he’s good to go. So I think we’re looking post-September.”

Following Joshua’s loss and Fury’s double defeats to Oleksandr Usyk, 38, last year, it set up the beaten Brits to finally settle their overdue score.

That was until Fury announced a shock retirement – the fourth of his career – in January only one month after Usyk won their rematch.

But the unpredictable Gypsy King has since ended his social media silence to begin hinting at a comeback – leaving Hearn hopeful.

The promoter said: “Tyson Fury is a big tease, every day I open up Instagram like today and he’s got his wraps on saying he’s done 12 rounds.

“He looks super fit, Tyson Fury, he looks like he’s ready to go now! Which is encouraging, but obviously probably the delay that AJ’s got is a blessing, to be honest with you.

“One, you’ve got Usyk against Dubois coming up so that gives you a little bit of time.

“And number two, you’ve got Tyson Fury who could potentially come back to the ring so it’s gonna be interesting to see what plays out.”

Turki Alalshikh’s introduction to boxing and his deep Saudi pockets have helped bridge the gap between Hearn and long-time rival Frank Warren.

The previously warring promoters even share the sports streaming platform DAZN now – paving the way for talks between AJ and Fury.

Hearn admitted: “I’d be lying if I said we haven’t discussed it socially, because obviously everyone’s desperate to make it happen.

“But, no one said, ‘Oh, I think it’s coming, I think he’s coming back.’ But at the same time, he’s training.

Eddie Hearn

“And I feel like with Tyson Fury over the years, you’ve seen him not training and balloon out of shape and then it takes him a long time to come back.

“Now it looks like he’s either ready to fight or he’s ready to begin camp, which is hugely encouraging. But I just don’t think he’ll be able to leave it alone, if I’m honest with you.

“Because, the money’s one thing, but just the occasion and the challenge, and he’s a competitor, he’s a winner. And I just can’t believe he’s gonna let it slide.”

While Fury is Joshua & Co’s main target, Hearn warned they will await the result of Dubois’ July 19 rematch with Usyk at Wembley.

Hearn is adamant AJ will fight before the year ends – with or without Fury.

He warned: “Next couple of months, if there’s no movement, we fight.

“I mean there’s no way AJ’s not fighting this year. So who that will be? I can’t tell you.

“I mean, that’s the million dollar question at all times, but I think more importantly is, do we get any news from Fury in the next four, six, eight weeks?

“If we do, we’ll fight him this year. If not, we’ll fight and then maybe he comes back next year, who knows?

“But I’d be lying if I said we weren’t desperate to see him return. But, at the same time we can’t just wait around and see what happens.”
