Michael McIntyre’s famous guest fights back tears as BBC show takes emotional turn

The former England player appeared on Michael McIntyre’s Big Show on Saturday night

Michael McIntyre’s Big Show took an emotional turn on Saturday night, leaving a famous footballer fighting back tears.

The beloved family series returned on February 21 with famous faces, including Peter Crouch and Abbey Clancy, who took on the Remember Me segment. The couple was tasked with identifying people from their past whom they haven’t seen in years.

Everyone from their wedding singer to Peter’s childhood crush made an appearance. But it was the former England footballer’s first professional coach, Barry Quinn, who left him utterly stunned.

Upon hearing Barry’s voice, Peter immediately became emotional, and Abbey quickly noticed, pointing out, “He’s crying.”

Although the sports star didn’t break down into tears, the surprise left him teary-eyed.

Speaking of his close bond with the coach, he said, “I’ll never forget him. When I was a kid, I genuinely believed that my technique came from the grounding I had with Barry Quinn.”

The duo knew each other when Peter was finding his feet in the sport at around 10 years old.

The footballer went on to add: “I just think at that time, at that age, it’s such a time for you to develop. I was so lucky to have a coach like Barry, who I felt got me to the next level, really. And I know that grounding was what shaped the player I became.”

Barry also opened up about their relationship, praising the striker: “He had a fantastic attitude.

“He had natural talent but always wanted to progress, always wanted to get better. Worked harder than everybody else and had great family support. So he was an absolute coach’s dream.”

The 45-year-old striker played for the likes of Liverpool, Stoke City, Tottenham Hotspur, and Burnley throughout his impressive career.

A REALITY telly pal of Jennifer Lopez caught speeding in her £200,000 Bentley has been banned.

Amanda Cronin begged JPs to let her keep her licence as she needed a car to care for her mum — who “won’t accept” taxis.

But magistrates, who heard she already had nine penalty points from speeding offences, were unmoved and gave her three more.

That took her to 12 and an automatic six-month ban under totting-up rules.

Real Housewives of London star Cronin, 57, was caught by a camera doing 24mph in a 20mph zone in Earls Court, West London, last May.

The ex-model, who dated Wham! star Andrew Ridgeley and counts US singer J-Lo as a pal, argued she needed her £200,000 Bentley Continental to drive from her £4million home in Belgravia, central London, to widowed mum Janet’s home near Soberton, Hants.

She said she regularly ferried the 85-year-old to medical appointments.

Cronin told Bromley JPs: “She won’t accept going in taxis.

“My mum will suffer if I’m not able to drive her around.”

Magistrate Jo Caseby said: “You’re a good and attentive daughter but there are solutions which can be put in place.”

Cronin, who divorced millionaire energy mogul Mark Daeche in 2019, also owns a £12million home in London’s Mayfair.

She must pay £334 in a fine and costs.

Channel 5 viewers ‘in tears’ as surgeon races against time to save 88-year-old

The new Channel 5 programme follows the lives of working surgeons and left viewers moved

Channel 5 viewers were emotional as a doctor battled to save an elderly lady in new series The Surgeon.

The TV series, which started on Channel 5 on Wednesday (February 18), shines a spotlight on doctors, with episode one focusing on bowel cancer surgeon Daren Francis. His first patient was a retired nurse named Doris, who worked for the NHS for over 50 years, with the narrator explaining that it was a “life-threatening emergency” after a blockage was discovered in her bowel.

The doctor had to operate before the bowel ruptured, admitting it was “a major operation” with increased risks given that Doris was 88.

Doris had said that she was in “excruciating” pain, with her daughter explaining further: “Mum was very sick and we weren’t sure whether to come or not because mum doesn’t like to be a nuisance. She doesn’t like, you know, I think being a retired nurse, I think she just doesn’t want to be a bother.”

Dr Francis told her: “It looks like the bowel’s blocked with a growth or a little lump. And that, we’ve got to consider is potentially a malignant or a cancerous growth.

“The plan is to take you to the operating theatre, general anaesthetic, you’ll be asleep, and make a cut in your tummy up and down. And then remove that piece of bowel, which is blocking the rest of the bowel.”

He continued: “So if we leave it there, the bowel can get stretched and stretched, and then eventually it could pop. Time is of essence. So we need to get on and do this. Otherwise, we’ll be in trouble.”

The programme then documented the successful operation, with viewers impressed by the surgeon’s skill. At the end of the episode, it was announced that Doris was recovering at home.

One viewer posted on X, which was formerly Twitter: “3 mins in and I am crying already! surgeons are so compassionate, skilled and amazing!”

Another shared a crying emoji as they posted “What a bloke. Skill and perfect bedside manner with patients.”

Someone else remarked: “”The Surgeon on 5 is phenomenal TV. Daren is an incredible human being. Amazing.”

Another impressed viewer said the surgeon was “fantastic”, as somebody else commented: “People talk about miracles but people like Daren create them here and now for people using his phenomenal surgery skills. Awe inspiring.”

“Never get tired of watching programmes like The Surgeon,” posted another viewer. “Skills beyond belief.”

Watch Gordon Ramsay fight back tears at daughter Holly and Adam Peaty’s engagement party

GORDON Ramsay is seen fighting back tears during his daughter Holly Ramsay’s engagement party in scenes from his new Netflix show.

The emotional moment came just hours before a bitter family fallout broke out between Holly’s now-husband Adam Peaty’s parents and the Ramsay clan.

In the six-part series, Being Gordon Ramsay, swimming champ Adam and his fiancée Holly are seen throwing a lavish bash with Adam’s mum Caroline in attendance.

Holly and Adam’s engagement party is caught on film – with both the Ramsay and Peaty families in attendance.

During the evening, Holly thanks her fiancé Adam for his constant love and support.

And while she gives the speech, Gordon is seen holding back tears while watching on with his wife Tana.

Adam Peaty ‘predicts’ family feud without realising in Gordon Ramsay doc

Elsewhere during the evening, Gordon was filmed saying: “The most important family is the one you create and she [Holly] comes from an incredible family so its now her time to create her own family. It is quite a moment.”

The party marked one of the last times that the Ramsay family were with the Peaty clan before their public feud imploded.

Despite Gordon having a close relationship with his son-in-law, Adam’s parents have publicly blasted the family after they weren’t invited to Holly’s hen do and were later uninvited to the wedding.

Holly’s mum Tana and close family friend Victoria Beckham were invited on the hen do, but Caroline was left off the guest list.

The family have since been in a war of words during their very bitter feud.

Gordon addressed the fallout for the first time earlier this month ahead of his Netflix show launching, saying: “It’s just upsetting.

“It’s all self-inflicted from their side, because we’ve done nothing – none of what you’ve read: no rudeness, no ignorance – we welcomed them.”

He added to the MailOnline: “We sent a chauffeur-driven car for them to come to the engagement party and treated them like royalty.

“So to get that barrage of press was very hurtful. Tana took it very seriously.”

Rich House, Poor House star in tears after exploring Poundland founder’s £10m mansion

Steve Smith and his son Joe are leaving their lives of luxury behind as they take part in the Channel 5 show.

In a new episode of Channel 5’s Rich House, Poor House, one family get to live in the luxurious Ludstone Hall, owned by Poundland founder, Steve Smith.

Steve and his son Joe are swapping lives with Kelly, John and their five children who live 29 miles away in Stafford.

For seven days, they get to live in each other’s homes and survive on their budgets and lifestyle.

In a clip shown on Instagram, Steve highlighted the spacious mansion he lives in, boasting 11 bedrooms and six bedrooms.

However, Kelly, John and their family live in a four-bedroom semi and live hand to mouth.

As the pair swap homes, the couple are blown away to see the mansion they’d be living in for a week.

When inside, John sent his children on a mission to find the swimming pool, although they had trouble locating it, unaware that the ballroom floor lowered to create a pool.

One of their daughters commented: “We were walking over it and everything! No one even knew that it was there. That was the shock. It was very magical, very hidden even though it’s right in front of your eyes.”

For the latest showbiz, TV, movie and streaming news, go to the new **Everything Gossip** website.

As the family got acquainted with their new life of luxury, they were speechless to discover their budget for the week was a staggering £2,040.

Overcome with emotion, Kelly replied: “That’s a lot. Are we too late in life to achieve, to even get even half of this a week? Are we too far in life to get this?”

Whereas Steve and his son were tasked with living off the family’s budget of £39.80. Commenting on the price, he said: “I never expected to have such a little budget.”

Viewers were quick to comment on the clip shared on Instagram, as one person said: “I watched this episode last night!!! One of there best ones, Both families are so nice and genuine.. happy with the outcome at the end.”

Another added: “This programme is a genuine reality eye opener.”

Someone else wrote: “I love this programme. It’s almost always has got such lovely people both sides.”

Knight of the Seven Kingdoms fans in floods of tears over brutal episode 5 twist

Knight of the Seven Kingdoms fans were left stunned by an unexpected death in episode five.

A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms episode five trailer

Knight of the Seven Kingdoms continues to surprise fans with the Game of Thrones’ prequel ending on a major cliffhanger this week.

WARNING: This article contains spoilers from Knight of the Seven Kingdoms.

Returning for episode five, entitled In the Name of the Mother, on Sky Atlantic and NOW, A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms this week revolved around the dreaded Trial of Seven.

Depicted as a “man of the people”, Prince Baelor “Breakspear” Targaryen (played by Bertie Carvel) surprisingly chose to join Dunk’s (Peter Claffey) in a bid to protect his brother and nephews on the other side.

It was also his way of doing what was right and honorable and initially after the Trial of Seven, it appears that Baelor comes out unscathed.

But unfortunately for him and fans, Baelor didn’t have the happy ending that fans were hoping for.

The two Ser Humfreys Beesbury (Danny Collins) and Hardyng (Ross Anderson) were killed and the prince emerged among the victors after Dunk forced Aerion (Finn Bennett) to yield.

However, when Baelor does take off his helmet, it is revealed that the back of his head had been caved in by Maekar’s (Sam Spruell) mace.

Fans were hopeful that he would still survive but Baelor ultimately dies from his gruesome injuries, leaving his loved ones heartbroken.

Taking to X, formerly Twitter, a distraught user wrote: “All of us at Baelor’s funeral,” followed by a crying emoji.

A second exclaimed: “Baelor take me with you,” as another stated: “Baelor Targaryen you will be missed by all.”

Someone else shared: “What I love the most about how A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms portrays Baelor is that he is not just this perfect man who’s inherently good, but rather his goodness and honor is A CHOICE he makes every time.

“One that he could choose differently, and it ultimately makes what he does choose have meaning.”

While a fellow viewer added: “Just want to give a huge round of applause to Bertie Carvel for his performance as Baelor Targaryen.

“He really brought to life one of the best Asoiaf characters.”

Knight of the Seven Kingdoms is available to watch on Sky Atlantic and NOW.

Winter Olympics star fights back tears after fumbling ‘easiest’ gold as Clare Balding shocked

The Winter Olympics has seen its fair share of twists and turns this week, but none come close to Ilia Malinin’s shock downfall in the men’s single skating final, with Clare Balding left at a loss for words

Clare Balding was left flabbergasted at Ilia Malinin’s eighth-place finish in the final of the men’s single skating at the Winter Olympics. That’s given the Team USA star was slated as an overwhelming favourite for a gold medal.

Despite his most fierce challengers preceding his time on the ice, giving him what should have been a clear pathway to at least a podium place, the 21-year-old suffered a number of high profile mistakes under immense pressure. As a result of falling twice, Malinin tallied a total of 264.49 – his lowest free skate score in years.

As a result, Malinin sunk to eighth in the standings, while Kazakhstan’s Mikhail Shaidorov secured gold with a score of 291.58. Japan’s Yugi Kagiyama and Shun Sato secured silver and bronze respectively, with scores of 280.06 and 274.90.

Reacting to Malinin’s performance, Balding was left stunned. Speaking to BBC Sport, she said: “We didn’t expect that anything could happen to Ilia Malinin but it did – and he will leave these Games without a medal.”

BBC commentator, Kat Downes, meanwhile, was also astounded at Malinin’s fumble. She added: “This is taking some computing from everybody.

“The ‘quadgod’ has fallen. Beaten for the first time in two years, the gold that was supposed to be his. That was supposed to be the most predictable gold of this games but Ilia Malinin has fallen to eighth.”

Elsewhere, Olympic gold medallist, Robin Cousins, picked problems with a sloppy performance on the skater’s part on the whole, with a number of errors outside his falls. He said: “No one has ever seen this from him Ilia Malinin.

“When he executes, you can see how easy it is for him. There’s so many questions about those elements that are being reviewed.

“Underrotated which caused the fall. Even the landing of the backflip wasn’t the best.”

Despite being visibly upset with his own result, Malinin showed humility by quickly congratulating Shaidorov on his win, the two spotted embracing one another after the results were read. Speaking in the aftermath of the event, meanwhile, Malinin said it was a difficult night on the ice to process.

He explained: “I was not expecting that. I felt like going into this competition, I was so ready. I just felt ready getting on the ice, but I think maybe that have been the reason that maybe I was too confident that I was (going to) go well.

“It honestly just happened. I can’t process what just happened. It happens. I think it was definitely mental. Just now experiencing that Olympic atmosphere, it’s crazy. It’s not like any other competition. It’s really different.”

The Masked Singer UK’s Moth bursts into tears as judges rush to comfort star

Moth has made it to the final of The Masked Singer but the mystery star, whose identity is not yet know, couldn’t hold back the tears after performing a Disney song

Moth burst into tears following their performance on The Masked Singer. The mystery celebrity, who has made it to the final of the hit ITV competition series, gave a rendition of Colours of the Wind from Pocahontas, originally sung by Judy Kuhn in the 19995 animation.

Following the performance, judges Davina McCall, Mo Gilligan, Maya Jama and and Jonathan Ross were clearly moved and Davina noted just how “emotional” it was.

She added: “That was really breathtaking. Stunning. Thank you!” It was then that Moth could be heard quietly crying underneath the costume. Mo heard it and said: “I don’t know if Moth is crying under there?” to which the star nodded. Mo exlaimed: “Oh, my God! Oh, my God! Now I’m going to cry!”

READ MORE: The Masked Singer’s Sloth revealed as Ben Fogle leaving judges stunnedREAD MORE: JLS’ Marvin Humes revealed as The Masked Singer’s Can of Worms in shock twist

Davina added: “That really was something else, thank you” and Moth received a huge round of applause from the audience. This all happened just moments before JLS star Marvin Humes was unmasked, having been performing as Can of Worms for weeks.

Speaking after his exit from the show, Marvin, who is married to fellow pop star and presenter Rochelle Humes, said: “That was the whole thing. When I talked about doing the show, I wanted to be completely across the board. My first song was Be Our Guest from Beauty and the Beast.

“It’s a big tune to be fair. And then Ghostbusters and then Temperature. Then Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Pure Imagination, which is one of my favourite songs.

“I drive my kids mad singing that at home when we’re watching the movie. And then tonight, Cha Cha Slide. Who doesn’t love Cha Cha Slide ?”

Marvin, who has also had a host of presenting gigs on programmes like This Morning and The Hit List, shot to fame as part of JLS on The X Factor in 2008, and they launched a greatest hits tour last year, but admitted that it was “strange” to have performed solo for the first time in a while.

He said: “Do you know what, what’s really strange for me is I haven’t sung by myself in a long time. I’m used to being with three other guys on stage and that’s quite a comfort. A bit of security. Although I’m completely masked, it’s still been quite strange being out on my own singing.

His exit came as part of double elimination, along with TV presenter Ben Fogle, who had been singing as Sloth. Despite not being a singer, Ben later explained that he just embraced the opportunity and loved getting the chance to cover a theatre classic.

He said: “I really enjoyed it. I’ve never done any singing, but I really loved doing it. Actually, there was one song, which was actually my sing-off song, Flash Bang Wallop from Half a Sixpence, for me, that was the song I really wanted to do because my mother was in the original musical.

“I remember watching it as a child, multiple times, and that song was just so joyous. So to get to sing that on a stage, in front of an audience with no one knowing who I was, was super super fun.

Kate Ferdinand breaks down in tears as she reveals she’s ‘struggling’ with Dubai move but Rio ‘loves it’

KATE Ferdinand has emotionally revealed that she is “struggling” with the overhaul of moving her life to Dubai.

The TV star, 34, and her husband Rio uprooted their London life for Dubai in a switch-up last summer.

And while former footballer Rio “loves” their new life, Kate got teary during a new episode of her podcast Blended as she admitted it’s tough for her.

Beginning positive, she said: “I think it’s an amazing place to live, I think it’s amazing for the children. The children are thriving and happy and living a life of just outside freedom.

“Rio loves it so much. I am enjoying it, but I miss home quite a lot. I can’t talk about it because I get upset,” said Kate as she grappled with tears.

Kate and Rio have a blended family of five children, which consists of their two kids Cree and Shae, and Rio’s children Lorenz, 19, Tate, 17, and Tia, who he welcomed with his late wife Rebecca.

The family of seven have a very close-knit bond, but eldest sons Lorenz and Tate have remained in the UK amid the UAE move to focus on their budding football careers.

Admitting being apart from her stepsons is making things harder, Kate continued: “I miss the big boys a lot and I’m just struggling with that.

“I know this decision is right for my younger children and as a family we are settled there, but the boys are following their football careers.

“So they’re doing what they want to do otherwise they’d be with us.

“But it’s very hard because we’ve been through so much as a family and we’ve always been together and that’s a huge adjustment.”

Kate also said that while she feels happy in their new home, a part of her is “missing”.

She and Rio met in Dubai back in 2016 while visiting on respective holidays, and later got engaged in the UAE.

Last summer, Kate revealed they were making the move as she said: “

A new chapter, a fresh start — because if we don’t try, we’ll never know.

“Ahhh! We’ve talked about this for so long, and now it’s finally real… we’re here, we are making a new home in the place we met!”

They have since shared a myriad of snaps from their stunning mansion over there.

Junior Andre’s reaction to Katie Price’s wedding revealed & the cruel snub that left her sister Sophie ‘close to tears’

WHEN Katie Price got married to Lee Andrews at breakneck speed, just days after they began dating, her loyal fans were left bewildered.

For her family, the reaction has been even more stark. Here, insiders tell us how Pricey’s son Junior responded to the Dubai nuptials – and why her closest ally, sister Sophie, has been left reeling as concern for the mother- of-five reaches an all-time high.

Hours after revealing her extravagant engagement, The Sun told how Katie and Lee had in fact got hitched with none of her family there. Her fourth marriage took place less than a week after she had met Lee.

It was an unusually quiet ceremony for the former glamour model . An officiator was seen in front of the pair reading from a script as Katie, who wore a £12 dress from Shein, said her vows.

She gushed about how happy she was, telling fans: “All I can say is ‘fatale’, and this was a wedding at First Sight.”

Yet celebratory messages from her nearest and dearest have not been forthcoming, despite Price, 47, returning to the UK earlier this week without Lee, 43, who has since been accused of being a ‘swindler’.

There’s only so much Katie’s kids can take. It is really not fair.

Insider

One source said: “It’s just another day on Planet Katie, and everyone has to deal with the consequences.

“She will always have a close bond with her children, but there’s only so much they can take. It is really not fair.”

Her son Junior, 20, has refrained from posting to his half a million Instagram followers in the days following the whirlwind wedding – which is not legally binding.

And it is not only Junior’s fans who have got the silent treatment from the singer.

Rather tellingly, we have been told that the rapper, who is “very close” to dad Peter and stepmum Dr Emily, has not contacted his mother to offer his congratulations on her marriage to Andrews.

A source said: “Junior is used to Katie’s increasingly erratic behaviour, but even this took him by surprise.

“He is so fed up with his mum’s constant dramas. He wants no part in it. He’s hardly going to send a congratulations message about a bloke he hasn’t even met.”

But while Junior is more resilient, sister Princess, 18, has given clues to her hurt feelings, taking to TikTok in the days following her mum’s wedding ceremony to post two emotional videos on the social media platform, including one featuring a tearful girl.

Sophie is understandably horrified by it all. It’s been incredibly draining for her. The sisters are incredibly close so it was very hard for Sophie not to know what was going on.

Insider

The writing on top of the clip reads: “I feel everything very deeply” with an accompanying voiceover on top of the clip that says: “I’m such an incredibly, stupidly, sensitive person that everything that happens to me I feel everything really intensely.”

Another featured a teen girl getting into bed and wiping tears from her eyes as she lets out a sigh.

The writing on top reads: “When the smallest thing upsets me, and now I have to be non-verbal and easily irritated for hours until I can let it go”.

Insiders say that despite the cryptic posts it is unlikely that Princess, who remains close to her mother, will publicly condemn her. But a pal of the star confided: “It is so selfish to create all this drama just before Princess is about to launch series two of The Princess Diaries. This should be her turn in the spotlight. Not her mums.”

In recent years as Katie’s fame has dwindled, she has become increasingly reliant on her younger half-sister Sophie, 36, who has devoted a large part of her life to looking after her.

Despite managing the wayward reality star, organising much of her chaotic life, and co-hosting a podcast together, Sophie was not invited to Katie’s wedding.

Fans thought Sophie looked very upset when she announced there would be no podcast

An insider said: “Sophie is understandably horrified by it all. It’s been incredibly draining for her. The sisters are incredibly close so it was very hard for Sophie not to know what was going on.

“They were due to record a podcast like normal this week, but at the last minute, they decided not to go ahead.

Their mum is utterly beside herself with worry.

“Sophie felt the need to say sorry to her fans, while Katie kept silent. It is quite typical of their relationship that Sophie is the one picking up the slack, and she’s honestly struggling with it at the moment. It has caused tension between the siblings, with Sophie just desperate for Katie to be ok.

“Their mum is utterly beside herself with worry – they have all been through so much with Katie, but thought the worst was over in recent years.

“They don’t believe Lee is the man he said he was and are just waiting for Katie to click. It was a huge relief when he did a U-turn on coming to the UK. Sophie was not ready to meet him and deal with all that.”

Sophie made her feelings very clear on the situation today as she shared a picture of the countryside and wrote: “This and never stepping foot in Dubai.”

Last night, Sophie took to social media to explain what was happening to the podcast.

Looking exhausted, she said: “Hi guys, how are you all? I know you’ve all been chomping at the bit to find out what has been going on. All our DMs have been going off,” she began in her video address.

Lee’s life has come into question since they married

“Let’s just say, it’s been one hell of a week. We have done over a 100 episodes of the podcast, which sounds absolutely nuts when it’s just me and Kate doing our b*s chat.

“We will be back next week as normal, and we will be able to update you guys on what’s been going on. It will be business as usual.”

Such was the emotion on display that one commentator posted: “’You are a good sister. Hope you’re ok, Sophie, you look like you’re holding back tears”

Sophie has always been outspoken about Katie’s relationships, while trying to be as supportive as possible.

Just a couple of weeks ago, she expressed her horror when Katie announced she was looking for a Richard Gere type.

She retorted: “Absolutely not, you need a break, you need time to yourself’.”

Katie completely ignored her, and when she announced her engagement, she gushed about finding her ‘real life Richard Gere’. The film is, of course, about a wealthy gentleman who sweeps a prostitute off her feet.

The sisters –  who have an 11-year age gap- have talked in the past about being “like chalk and cheese”.

Sophie was just six years old when her big sister found fame, meaning that she doesn’t remember a time when Katie wasn’t in the spotlight.

However, Katie’s fame made her a target at school – and she was bullied by cruel classmates.

She recalled: “It was just girls saying nasty things, when you’re a teenager… You know what girls can be like.”

Yet a beautiful relationship blossomed, with the sisters becoming firm friends and podcast favourites.

But after the latest cruel snub, it might be a while before fans get a new episode of the podcast.

BBC Radio 2’s Vernon Kay fights back tears as he opens up on ‘painful’ time

Radio 2 DJ Vernon Kay has spoken about meeting up with fellow Children in Need fundraisers has he spends more time looking back at his illustrious and eventful career

BBC Radio 2’s Vernon Kay fought back tears after opening up about a difficult time and admitted that the pain of his latest challenge was worth it for the amount of money they raised for Children in Need.

Children in Need is the BBC’s annual fundraising extravaganza and part of their fundraising efforts sometimes sees celebrities taking on gruelling physical challenges.

In 2023, Vernon Kay completed an ultra marathon, running 116 miles from Leicester to his home town of Bolton over four days. It comes after Vernon revealed a BBC legend brutally snubbed him over a stint on an ITV show.

Appearing on BBC Radio 2 at the end of his mammoth journey he told host Zoe Ball: “I’m absolutely exhausted, absolutely spent, physically, mentally. Is there anyone here who can replace a knee?”

Speaking about his work for Children in Need in 2026, Vernon talked about talking to fellow fundraisers Patrick McGuinness and Sarah Cox and how all three became emotional discussing what they’d done.

In 2025 Patrick completed a 300-mile cycling challenge for Children in Need whilst Sara Cox ran, jogged, and walked 135 miles over five days last year.

He told listeners: “I was with Patrick McGuinness and Sara Cox last night, yesterday afternoon, we were talking about Children In Need.

“Very emotional for all three of us I’ll be honest with you, every time each time one of us talked about what we’d done for children in need you could see us all welling up.

“But it’s not because of what we did but because of what you did, so once again thank you for that. The pain was worth it.”

This isn’t the first time Vernon has talked about important moments from his past as he recently looked back 29 years and shared a moment which he says changed his life.

The Bolton-born broadcaster said in a social media video discussing his modelling career and how it was getting scouted as a youngster that changed his life. His modelling work helped spark a career in broadcasting.

Following a stint as a magazine model Vernon, now 51, moved into presenting and went onto host shows such as T4, All Star Family Fortunes, and shows on BBC Radio 1 and Radio X.

Writing in a post on Instagram alongside a photo of himself, he said: “Dec96 Got scouted by @selectmodellondon @jameslnoel and it’s the day that changed my life! [heart emoji].

“Taking a look back at my modelling days….kind of a pivotal moment for me [crying laughing emojis]. This is the one picture people always throw at me but I don’t think it’s THAT bad. #BlueSteel.”

Davina McCall breaks down in tears as husband Michael Douglas shares emotional update

Davina McCall married her long-term partner during an ‘absolutely beautiful’ ceremony recently, just months after the couple announced their engagement following a trip to Ibiza

Davina McCall broke down in tears during an emotional discussion with husband Michael Douglas. Davina and Michael tied the knot recently in an “absolutely beautiful” ceremony in front of their friends and family.

It came just three months after Davina, 58, announced that she and celebrity hairstylist Michael got engaged during a trip to Ibiza. The couple first started dating in 2018, having met originally on the set of Big Brother in 2000.

Their marriage came after a difficult year for Davina, who underwent surgery in November 2024 after medics discovered a colloid cyst on her brain. Just over a year later she revealed she had been diagnosed with breast cancer after finding a small lump.

Now on the Making the Cut podcast, Davina’s husband Michael praised the television presenter for using her fame to speak candidly about her health battles and “help a lot of people”.

It came after Michael recently read Bruce Springsteen’s autobiography. In the book, the Boss spoke candidly about his music and his life, something Michael said he found to be a “therapeutic experience”.

Michael said: “I realised the important role that famous people can have in regular people’s lives. Bruce putting his life in the paper or out there has helped me.

“I realised what it means to be married to someone like you who also does that and what it’s like to be around someone who puts themselves out in a way that is to benefit and help other people and I want to say, well done you.

“I realise what you stand for for a lot of people and I see them stop you in the street and say how grateful they are for what you decided to do with your fame and your time. In a way that Springsteen helped me, I realised you helped a lot of people.”

The touching words from her husband made The Masked Singer panellist Davina audibly tear up. Davina will return to screens with Long Lost Families tonight (January 29) from 9pm on ITV One.

The series sees Davina and co-host Nicky Campbell reuniting people with their loved ones. Tonight the series will visit Mandy whose parents had a baby girl they placed for adoption, she is now attempting to find her long-lost big sister.

Elsewhere Jane thought she was an only child until her mother revealed she had a baby boy 11 months before her. Jane now wants help finding her long lost brother who was put up for adoption.

Davina has previously spoken about the emotions she feels when reunited siblings, especially because she lost her sister to cancer in 2012. Caroline, 50, was diagnosed with lung cancer after being rushed to hospital after suffering a suspected stroke.

Speaking to Love TV, she said: “Sometimes with siblings, it’s quite hard and painful, because one sibling might have grown up with their birth family, while the other was placed for adoption. There’s a lot to unpack there, you know?”

Davina says the show’s genealogists occasionally track people down who weren’t even aware they had a sibling. “Imagine being gifted a sibling out of the blue, it would be absolutely mad,” she added.
