The terrifying collapse came after a police pursuit which was sparked when cops attended a house in Bury earlier that morning.

A man in his 30s fled the home with officers following in a high speed chase.

Greater Manchester Police said a man has since been arrested on suspicion of failing to stop, dangerous driving and threats to kill.

He was raced to hospital to receive urgent medical treatment after the pursuit came to an abrupt end.

The chase was finally ended when a vehicle ploughed into the takeaway, bringing part of the building down in a shower of rubble.

Pictures from the scene on Bridge Street show the front of the building completely caved in as a result of the impact of the car.

The interior of the building is entirely exposed with the front wall brought down by the force of the collision.

The road remained cordoned off yesterday afternoon as workers tried to clear the scene.

A silver car was spotted by witnesses who said it was crushed under a pile of bricks and rubble.

The public has been kept away from the building amid fears that it has been made unstable by the crash.

Heavy machinery, including diggers, was brought in to clear the area of the rubble.

A Greater Manchester Police spokesperson said: “At around 3.50am this morning, we responded to reports of an ongoing disturbance at an address on Walmersley Road in Bury.

“Upon police arrival a vehicle made off resulting in a pursuit utilising specialist tactics.

The suspect vehicle travelled towards Heywood where it collided with a building on Bridge Street in Heywood, Rochdale.

“The driver of the vehicle – a man in his 30s – was arrested on suspicion of failing to stop, dangerous driving and threats to kill, before being taken to hospital for an injury to his arm.

“Investigations are ongoing. Officers are now appealing for anyone who witnessed the incident to come forward and assist their investigation.”

Footage shows the bus in a line of traffic on the Maravatío-Atlacomulco highway.

Cars in either direction have stopped at the train tracks – though a motorbike scoots across at the last moment.

The bus, from company Herradura de Plata, is at first stationary at the front of the queue.

But then it suddenly decides to move forward, as if trying to reach the other side before the train passes.

Just as it reaches the middle of the tracks, the train ploughs into the centre of the coach.

The entire bus folds and is carried along by the train, which continued for hundreds of metres.

Emergency teams rushed to the scene and were met by chaos and devastation.

A photo taken soon after the catastrophe shows the rear end of the bus with the roof totally blown off.

Passengers can be seen cowering in the open air.

Ambulance crews from multiple regions as well as the Red Cross worked on the injured and helped extract survivors from the wreckage.

Despite their best efforts, ten people died and another 45 were injured.

The authorities have launched an investigation into what happened.

The bus, marked number 6002, was travelling from San Felipe del Progreso to Mexico City.

Its driver’s decision to move onto the tracks seem inexplicable from the footage.

Canadian Pacific Kansas City of Mexico, the train line, confirmed the accident and sent its condolences to the families of the victims.

City officials in Atlacomulco asked residents to refrain from going to the site of the collision and offered their condolences to the families of the victims who died.

A statement posted to social media read: “We express our sincere solidarity to the families affected at this time.”

Daniil Medvedev argues with umpire, smashes racket during U.S. Open loss

Daniil Medvedev’s match was delayed more than six minutes between points Sunday night, after a photographer entered the court on match point and the 2021 U.S. Open champion became enraged by the chair umpire’s decision to award his opponent a first serve.

The latest Medvedev meltdown on Louis Armstrong Stadium led to a wild change in the match. The No. 13 seed was a point away from being eliminated, then won the next two sets to force a deciding fifth before Benjamin Bonzi eliminated him from a second straight major with a 6-3, 7-5, 6-7 (5), 0-6, 6-4 victory that ended early Monday.

“I tried to stay calm in the match but it was not easy,” Bonzi said.

Bonzi had just hit his first serve leading 5-4 in the third set. After he missed it, a photographer left his position before the Frenchman could hit his second.

Chair umpire Greg Allensworth told the photographer to get off the court, then announced that Bonzi would get another first serve because of the delay — which is common in tennis. Medvedev then approached the chair to complain about the decision.

“He wants to go home, guys. He doesn’t like to be here. He gets paid by the match, not by the hour,” Medvedev shouted into the microphones behind the chair.

Medvedev kept encouraging the loud boos on Armstrong, which eventually lasted so long that he then tried to get fans to quiet down so Bonzi could serve. When Bonzi finally did, he missed the first serve and then lost the point, and Medvedev won the game and later the set in a tiebreaker to prolong the match.

“I never experienced something like that,” said Bonzi, who had fans chanting his name at times.

It was reminiscent of Medvedev’s 2019 match on the same court, when fans booed him for his antics and he later taunted the crowd in his post-match interview, saying the jeers gave him energy. Medvedev had snatched the towel from a ballperson during the match and was given a code violation by umpire Damien Dumusois. Medvedev then threw his racket in the direction of Dumusois, barked something at him and later flashed his middle finger next to his forehead as he walked past the umpire’s chair, actions that led to him being fined $9,000 for that match.

Medvedev reached the final that year, then won the title two years later. But he went just 1-4 in Grand Slam tournaments this year and was also upset by Bonzi in the first round at Wimbledon.

Medvedev sat in his chair for a few minutes after the match and repeatedly smashed his racket before eventually departing.

A U.S. Tennis Association spokesman said the photographer was escorted from the court by U.S. Open security and his credential was revoked.

Allen smashes Gayle’s T20 cricket sixes record in MLC opener | Cricket News

New Zealand and San Francisco’s Finn Allen hits record 19 sixes against Washington in 2025 Major League Cricket opener.

San Francisco Unicorns opener Finn Allen smashed a record 19 sixes in his incredible 151 off 51 balls against defending champions Washington Freedom in the opening match of the new Major League Cricket (MLC) season.

The New Zealand international opener’s knock on Thursday evening at Unicorns’ Oakland Coliseum, was the Twenty20 league’s highest individual score since its 2023 debut season.

Allen’s six-hitting display passed the previous record of 18 in a T20 match held by West Indian great Chris Gayle and Estonian Sahil Chauhan, who registered the knock in the European Cricket League.

The Unicorns amassed 269-5, an MLC team record, with Allen taking 34 balls to bring up his 100 against a bowling attack that included fellow New Zealand internationals Ben Sears, Rachin Ravindra and Glenn Phillips.

Phillips took a catch at long-on to dismiss the 26-year-old off Mitchell Owen’s bowling in the 18th over of the innings.

Freedom, led by Australian international Glenn Maxwell, were all out for 146 in 13.1 overs in reply, suffering a comprehensive 123-run defeat.

Allen, who was named Player of the Match, has already smashed two centuries and five fifties in 52 T20 international innings for the Kiwis, and hits at a strike rate of 163.

This was his 22nd fifty in domestic T20 cricket, where he has also scored two centuries but hits at a strike rate of 173.

The Auckland-born Allen, who has yet to make his Test debut, has also appeared in 22 one-day internationals for the Kiwis, where he has hit five fifties.
