Celebrity Traitors winner Alan Carr opened up about being ‘walked over’ in past relationships and admitted he ‘doesn’t trust anyone’ in candid chat with Amanda Holden

Alan Carr has made a heart-wrenching confession about his divorce, revealing that he’s been “walked over” in the past and now finds it hard to trust anyone.

The 49-year-old winner of Celebrity Traitors opened up during his BBC show ‘Amanda and Alan’s Greek Job’, which he co-hosts with his best mate, Amanda Holden, 54.

As they enjoyed Aperol Spritz cocktails under the sun, the close friends discussed the rapid pace of life and their respective experiences with divorce. Alan, who was previously married to Paul Drayton, didn’t mention his ex by name but shared some poignant reflections on his past relationships.

The conversation began when the star of The Traitors expressed his feelings about nearing the age of 50. Amanda chimed in, acknowledging that they’d both weathered many storms in life, including divorce, and admitted to making “bad decisions” in her past.

Reflecting on his own romantic history, Alan responded: “I mean, it’s not decisions for me, but knowing your worth and the amount of times I’ve been walked over and people have demeaned me.”

He added: “You know, like, there’s times that I wish I’d said, ‘no’, I wish I’d been a bit bolder and a bit… No. Stronger. Yeah, a bit stronger.”

Alan then confessed his biggest challenge when it comes to starting a new relationship. “I don’t really trust anyone, really. That’s the trouble. I think that is my main thing,” he confided in Amanda. “But, yeah, it’s just getting out there and trusting, isn’t it?”

Alan was previously in a 14-year relationship with his now ex-husband. Paul and Alan were together for a decade before tying the knot in 2018, with superstar Adele officiating their nuptials at her lavish Los Angeles residence.

The couple shared a life on a farm they purchased in West Sussex, where they raised animals together. However, the pressures of lockdown took a toll on their relationship, leading to their divorce in 2022.

During Alan’s stint on Celebrity Traitors, which he ultimately won, Paul opened up to The Sun about their relationship. He revealed: “He [Alan] was tolerant most of the time when we were together, but if he felt someone was taking advantage of him, he would cut them out of his life. He is ruthless in that way.”

“I don’t want to say he’s a good liar – as far as I know, he never lied to me during our relationship – but he will be good at playing the game, and he will be a good Traitor.”

Reflecting on the controversy from Traitors involving Paloma Faith, where Alan touched her face to “murder her in plain sight”, Paul joked: “There were a few times in our relationship when I bet Alan wished he could have touched my face and bumped me off, to save him from the stress I was causing him. I fell in love with him because he’s funny and we used to make each other laugh.”

Happy Valley star Siobhan Finneran, 59, has offered a rare glimpse into her relationship with Death in Paradise actor Don Gilet, 58, revealing why the pair have chosen to maintain separate households.

The duo initially crossed paths whilst working together on ITV’s crime drama The Loch, where Siobhan played DCI Lauren Quigley and Don took on the role of forensic psychologist Blake Albrighton.

Around a year afterwards, in 2018, their professional connection developed into something more romantic. Yet Siobhan calls Saddleworth home, whilst her other half, Don, is based in north London.

Despite the geographical gap between them, Siobhan insists she and the DI Mervin Wilson actor manage perfectly well, noting that Don spends most of his time abroad anyway, filming Death in Paradise in Guadeloupe.

Speaking to The Times, she said: “That’s just the way it is, isn’t it? That’s how it’s always been. And he’s out of the country for seven months a year doing Death in Paradise anyway.”

Siobhan also disclosed that she’s made the journey to the French Caribbean island, which she calls an “amazing place”, to see Don whilst he’s working.

The Protection actress was swift to reject any notion that they’re a “power couple”, confessing they can be “hopeless” when attempting to organise themselves, joking: “I’ve not heard that one before.”

She continued: “We are both off the telly. Other than that we’re pretty normal. You wouldn’t think we were a power couple this morning, both running around trying to get out of the house on time. Hopeless.”

After months of rumours, Siobhan first hinted at her romance with Don when she lovingly called the actor “my fella” during a chat with The Guardian.

Before this revelation, the couple had been photographed holding hands at various showbiz gatherings prior to making their relationship official.

Don is set to return to television screens as DI Mervin Wilson for the Death in Paradise Christmas Special.

He will be joined by guest stars Josie Lawrence, Kate Ashfield, Pearl Mackie and James Baxter for the festive episode.

The Death in Paradise Christmas Special airs on Sunday 28th December at 8.30pm on BBC One and iPlayer.

TV TWIST OF THE YEAR

THE Celebrity Traitors was the year’s biggest TV show – with 12million viewers tuning in to watch Alan Carr win.

The comedian became the standout star of the series after “murdering” his best mate Paloma Faith – and having the worst poker face at the round tables.

Alan will be forever remembered as the best and worst Traitor in BBC history.

COUPLE OF THE YEAR

TAYLOR SWIFT and Travis Kelce broke the internet in August when the announcement of their engagement scored 37million likes on Instagram.

In a joint post, US hitmaker Taylor was pictured surrounded by flowers, with her American football star boyfriend on one knee, and a cryptic caption quipped: “Your English teacher and your gym teacher are getting married.”

The couple, below, first sparked rumour of a romance when Taylor was spotted watching a Kansas City Chiefs game in 2023.

If the engagement is anything to go by, this is going to be the wedding of the century.

UNLIKELY NEW ROMANCE

ARIANA GETS A GRANDE HOTEL

ARIANA GRANDE seems to be planning a Wicked time during her rumoured West End stint — including a £1million hotel stay.

I hear the US singer and actress, who is tipped to star in a revival of hit musical Sunday In The Park With George, has included accommodation at the 5H Mandarin Oriental among conditions for her potentially taking the role.

Penthouses at the Hyde Park hotel start from £40,000 a night.

The three-bedroom suite is almost 5,000sq ft, with a walk-in wardrobe and grandstand private terrace.

If the play runs for six weeks, Ariana’s hotel bill would run to more than £1million.

Fans believe she is set to star in a revival of Stephen Sondheim’s 1984 musical Sunday In The Park With George at London’s Barbican Centre in 2027.

If so, she would line up alongside Jonathan Bailey, who played her Wicked character Glinda’s love interest.

A source said: “Ariana wants to stay at the Mandarin when she stars in the play.

“She really appreciates her downtime when she is working on productions and is a huge fan of the hotel.

“Ariana loves London and believes that the Mandarin Oriental has the city’s best views.”

Meanwhile she is nominated for Best Supporting Actress in Wicked: For Good at the Golden Globes in January.

She will then start her The Eternal Sunshine Tour in June, in Oakland, California, to support her album of the same name.

Sounds like she deserves some five-star R&R.

GET READY FOR A HARRY NEW YEAR

HARRY STYLES has given his most telling clue yet that he is preparing for a comeback.

He put on his YouTube channel a clip from his final Love On Tour gig, in 2023 in Italy – and the post was cryptically titled, “Forever, forever”, with text declaring: “We belong together.” He is at the piano, sparkling in gold.

It comes amid rumours of a fourth solo album – and a stage return.

The former One Direction star released his last album, Harry’s House, in 2022.

Looks like 2026 will be his year.

TATE McRae has been spotted on a cozy date with NHL star Jack Hughes hours after attending his hockey game.

The couple sparked rumors they might have struck up a romance after Tate, 22, supported Jack, 24, from the stands at the New Jersey Devils vs. Buffalo Sabres game in Newark, New Jersey, on Sunday.

Several photos and videos circulated on social media, showing Tate at the game, leading many to wonder if she was there to cheer on Jack, who returned to the ice after an over-a-month-long recovery from a hand injury.

Further fueling chatter of a possible romance, the pair were seen taking a stroll on Monday in New York City.

Photos obtained by The U.S. Sun show the pop star rocking baggy blue jeans, a navy blue shirt, and a long black trench coat for the chilly outing.

She kept the look casual, accessorizing with white sneakers, a small tan handbag, and a yellow baseball cap while carrying a small coffee cup.

Tate most recently dated Australian rapper The Kid LAROI, who is widely believed to be the subject behind her new track, Tit for Tat.

The former couple broke up in July, but it wasn’t until her Rolling Stone cover story earlier this month that Tate confirmed their split.

Tate admitted that “it was really scary and overwhelming” at first to write and release the track about her relationship.

“I would never talk that way, even about my friends’ lives. I didn’t realize how much it would affect me, the public knowing my private life—because no one knows the full story of anything, ever,” the Canadian singer said, adding that the media coverage about their breakup made the heartbreak even harder to bear.

“I also hate people painting a situation that’s worse than it is.”

Tate also shared that she expects songs will be written about her, just like she writes about her experiences, because that’s often how artists process their emotions.

“What I’ve had to realize is that he’s going to write songs and I’m going to write songs, and that’s our way of expressing ourselves,” the So You Think You Can Dance alum explained.

“That’s our art, that’s our job. And once it’s out there, it’s not mine anymore.”

Tit for Tat is rumored to be in response to The Kid LAROI’s song A COLD PLAY, which seemingly details their split, although he hasn’t explicitly confirmed the speculation.

TIMOTHEE Chalamet simultaneously debunked two recent rumours swirling about his life at once through his debut rap song.

The actor, 29, has been the center of lots of speculation lately as fans have been somewhat convinced he is secretly Liverpudlian rapper EsDeeKid.

The wild theory is based off of supposed fan “evidence”, drawing similarities between the shape of the pair’s eyes an faces, hands, and fashion choices.

The young star has also been facing swathes of break-up rumours, after viewers noticed that him and girlfriend Kylie Jenner appeared to look “bored” together at a New York Yankees game.

Timothee has been accused of acting “cold” towards the Kylie Cosmetics founder during the holiday season.

He’s been doing lots of press in recent weeks following the release of new film Marty Supreme.

However in his recently dropped rap collab 4 Raws – alongside masked singer EsDeeKid himself – Timothee sang some lyrics that seemed to highly praise his stunning significant other.

Collaborating with EsDeeKid in itself instantly debunked the rumour that the rapper could possibly be Timothee.

Meanwhile lyrics such as “My girl’s worth a billion,” stood out in the single, in possible reference to Kylie’s wealth and hard work.

It could also be Timothee’s way of describing Kylie, 28, as utterly irreplaceable.

Timothee and Kylie were first linked back in 2023.

Rumours about their romance began to fuel in January after they were spotted together during Paris Fashion Week.

But it wasn’t until September 2023 that they hardlaunched as a couple, kissing at a Beyonce concert.

In the years to follow the star-studded duo have attended many public events together including the Golden Globes and the Oscars.

They’re often seen looking loved-up on a red carpet, and have piled on the PDA lately to help combat split rumours.

Early this month Kylie attended the premiere of Marty Supreme with her beau and they posed up a storm for the cameras.

Timothee wrapped his arms around her waist as they both wore matching bright orange outfits and smiled for the cameras.
