Katie Piper has candidly admitted she doesn’t know what the future holds for her Loose Women role. The presenter is among a number of stars who could see their time on the show cut short due to the impending huge changes on the ITV panel show.
She has admitted she is currently in the dark about her future as the new look Daytime line-up gets ready to launch in January. The changes will see Loose Women switch to just being a seasonal show.
Elsewhere, Good Morning Britain will be extended, chopping Lorraine episodes to just 30 minutes. For the Loose Women panel, they will only be on air seasonally, running for just 30 weeks.
Speaking of the switch-up, Katie admitted she doesn’t know what is coming her way. When asked by The Sun about the situation at the National Television Awards, she admitted: “You’d have to ask the producers that. I don’t know.”
The decision to drop the show’s 100-strong audience will also see bosses remove the need for extra security and a warm-up act. But the move is said to have angered a number of the regular panellists who feed off the audience interaction.
The cost-cutting measure also sees This Morning and GMB move away from its current home at BBC Studioworks Television Centre.

And in July, the big changes at Loose Women were explained in full. The iconic lunchtime chat show, which is best known for its bold debates and A-list guests, is reportedly getting ready to cut celebrity interviews completely from January as part of the channel’s sweeping budget cuts.
Instead, it’s said the high-profile bookings will now be prioritised for Lorraine and This Morning. This will leave Loose Women to rely solely on its panel discussions of the day’s news and lifestyle topics.
“Not having guests is a big blow for both the presenters and viewers at home,” an insider revealed at the time. “The celebrity interviews are often one of the highlights of the show and bring a unique energy you don’t get on other programmes. It feels like a strange decision to cut them altogether.”
It will also only air for 30 weeks of the year rather than its usual 52, meaning production time will be slashed by nearly in half.
And speaking of cutting the audience, Nadia Sawalha admitted she was “devastated” by the news. It also meant that f her close friend and warm-up artist Lee Peart has lost his job as a result.
“The audience is so important for the show,” Nadia said. “What a lot of people don’t realise is that we’re self-employed. Every contract is a new contract – I could be let go tomorrow or in five years. It’s brutal.”

The singer, who refused to speak directly about Katie for ‘legal reasons’, told The Telegraph: “’Well, look, nobody’s perfect. No-one’s perfect in this world. Everyone makes mistakes. But you get the measure of me by meeting me.
“You’ll either think I’m too talkative and annoying, or you’ll think, “he’s alright, he’s harmless.”
He added: “But over a period of time you build a picture of someone, it’s about consistency.”
His comments come just a few weeks after he publicly spoke out about his ex wife for the first time in 16 years.
Pete and Katie have been devoted parents to kids Junior, 20, and Princess, 18, since their split in 2009 but the former glamour model has taken every opportunity to slam her ex.
In her podcast, she claimed she had been frozen out of her daughter Princess‘s blossoming career, which includes glam photoshoots, brand deals, and a new ITV reality show titled The Princess Diaries.
Revealing plans to take legal action, Peter said: “Unfortunately, there are many more lies and baseless accusations that I have yet to address. Those will be dealt with in the coming months.”

British pair Sonay Kartal and Katie Boulter were knocked out in the US Open first round as conditions heated up in New York.
Kartal, who has been managing a knee niggle in recent months, suffered physically in a 6-3 1-6 6-1 defeat against Brazilian 18th seed Beatriz Haddad Maia.
A bizarre deciding set saw a struggling Kartal trail 3-0 before being handed a lifeline when Haddad Maia’s movement also became hampered – seemingly down to cramp.

Kartal, who was making her debut in the US Open main draw, also appeared to be struggling with the knee problem which she had strapped during her memorable run to the Wimbledon fourth round in July.
Boulter, 29, lost 6-4 6-4 to Ukrainian 27th seed Marta Kostyuk as she was unable to turn around her Grand Slam struggles.
The powerful baseliner, who has never reached the second week of a major, has been out of form this season and seemed to lack confidence against Kostyuk.
Saving five match points as she served at 5-3 illustrated how Boulter will not stop fighting and helped her create three break points in the 10th game.
However, Kostyuk recovered to serve out the match and move into the second round.
Katie was not allowed to participate on the show, which she admitted her annoyance about on her podcast, The Katie Price Show.
Shortly afterwards, Peter broke his 16-year silence to speak out against his ex-wife, making public for the first time that the kids were court ordered to live with him since 2019.
And now, after 10 days that have “been a lot” for the star, she has spoken out about her mental health.
Katie has shared how her PTSD has been “triggered”, as well as her anxiety.
Getting candid in a new Instagram post she shared on Thursday night, Katie uploaded a video and caption.
In the video she explained how she was at the horses which she calls her “safe place” because of how relaxing she finds it.
She added how her mental health had been “triggered like you would not believe” over the past 10 days.
In the caption of the post, she elaborated further when she penned: “The past 10 days have been a lot, thank you to everyone who has messaged me.

“I have came to the horses for some me time as my anxiety, PTSD and mental health has been triggered a lot.”
She added how she was happy to have a visit planned to the Supreme CBD warehouse to top up on “oil and gummies” which have been “such a massive help”.
“If anyone out there is feeling similar to me right now, the anxiety, lack of sleep, PTSD then stay strong,” she added.
Reacting to her honest post, fans flocked to the comments to show their support for the former glamour model.
What is PTSD (post-traumatic stress disorder)?
POST-traumatic stress disorder, or PTSD, is a mental health condition sparked by stressful, frightening or distressing events.
The NHS states that someone with PTSD “often relives the traumatic event through nightmares and flashbacks, and may experience feelings of isolation, irritability and guilt”.
Someone with PTSD may also have problems sleeping, “such as insomnia, and find concentrating difficult”.
The health provider states that symptoms are often “severe and persistent enough to have a significant impact on the person’s day-to-day life”.
Any stressful or frightenining event can cause PTSD with the following being some of the most common causes:
Serious road accidents
Violent personal assaults, such as sexual assault, mugging or robbery
“Everything is gonna be okay you are so loved,” said one person.
“Keep your chin up beautiful, keep working on yourself and being the best version of you that you can be and the world will shine on you,” penned a second.
A third wrote: “You have so much love and support. Keep doing what you’re doing.”
While a fourth said: “Stay positive.”
And a fifth added: “Never underestimate the pricey!”

While his 18-year-old sister Princess is currently taking centre stage with her ITVdocumentary, The Princess Diaries, Junior prefers to keep out of all drama.
According to a source, when it comes to his feuding parents, the aspiring singer is firmly on dad Peter’s side, and is “embarrassed” by former glamour model Katie.
A source told Fabulous: “Junior is on his dad’s side 100 per cent.
“He has no time for his mum as harsh as that sounds.
“She represents negativity and sadness in his life and he has been trying to move away from that and heal for a long time.
“He hates how his mum is a laughing stock and tries to disassociate himself as much as he can without starting World War 3.”
Junior’s Instagram page, where he boasts 555,000 followers, rarely features his reality star mum.
The glamour model, 47, who is currently dating Married at First Sight’s JJ Slater, 32, hardly features in any of his posts, unlike his dad, 52, and Princess, whom he regularly posts pics and videos with.
The insider added: “He posts a happy birthday message to her to keep up appearances and to not ruin her day but they don’t hang out much at all.
“As far as Junior is concerned, he’s his dad’s son.

And insiders say that Emily has been “more of a conventional mum” to Junior over the years.

Junior is said to have made the decision to avoid the notorious nine-bedroom Sussex pad – which has now been sold – as it was “so horrific.”
BOMBSHELL STATEMENT
The source claimed: “Junior hasn’t had much to do with his mum in recent years.
“He totally avoided visiting her at the Mucky Mansion. He didn’t want to live in squalor.
“It was constantly chaotic and the house was always full of people and this revolving door of men – and Katie’s dramas.”
After he left, they say Junior rarely went back to visit Katie and as she wasn’t welcome at Pete’s house “they didn’t see each other much” and now “he rarely visits her”, despite her moving out of the squalid home.
Junior was later joined by sister Princess, and it has been revealed the family courts issued a legally binding order for the living arrangement in 2019.
Peter then hit back at Katie’s claims, slamming her in a furious Instagram statement.
Peter wrote: “For sixteen years I have stayed silent in the face of repeated lies from my ex-wife and her family, out of respect for my children and loved ones, but staying silence has been incredibly frustrating.”

This outburst is said to be out of character for Peter, who allegedly “never bad mouths Katie in front of the children”.
However, Junior, who the source claims is an “exceptionally bright young man”, has “seen it all and come to his own conclusions”.
The insider claimed that Junior was “shocked” that Peter spoke out but “doesn’t blame him”.
However, they added: “He’s really sad to see his mum and dad’s feud playing out in public again.
“Obviously he’s read a lot about it over the years – he’s old enough to read Google.”
PRIVATE LIFE
While Katie famously courts the spotlight, and his sister is doing her new documentary, the 20-year-old is said to prefer a “quiet life at home with his girlfriend”.

The couple have now opened up about a huge step they have taken together, while talking about the possibility of getting wed.
Revealing their huge milestone to OK! Magazine in a new interview, Junior explained how he and Jasmine, who previously appeared on Celebs Go Dating in 2023, now have a place of their own.
“Yes, we’ve moved into our own little flat together,” he told the magazine.
He then detailed their one-bedroom abode in Surrey, and spoke about how they are currently decorating it.
Junior then gushed about wanting to spend “every day” with his girlfriend and said that they felt “ready” for the next step.

Katie Price and Peter Andre’s whirlwind romance began in front of millions on I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! and quickly turned into one of Britain’s most watched love stories. With a lavish wedding, a growing family and a string of joint TV shows, they became the ultimate reality TV power couple – until it all came crashing down.
Their 2009 split shocked fans and triggered a years-long saga of public rows, barbed interviews and court battles. Now, with Peter hitting out at his ex-wife in a new bombshell statement, their decades-long feud has ramped up again.

Split announcement – 2009
Following a rocky romance after meeting on I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! in 2004, Katie and Peter split in 2009. The TV couple had been married for four years, and had welcomed children Junior and Princess.
A statement from the couple’s management company, Can Associates Limited, said at the time: “Peter Andre and Katie Price are separating after four-and-a-half years of marriage… They have both requested that the media respect their families’ privacy at this difficult time.”
The joint statement marked the last time the exes would ever put on a united front. Katie and Peter, who remained with Can Associates Limited, embarked on multiple public spats as they moved on.

Two years after their split, Katie issued a public apology to her ex-husband, admitting she had been wrong to suggest he had cheated and been insincere about his feelings during their marriage.
Peter had launched defamation proceedings in 2009, soon after their break-up, in response to remarks Katie made during interviews with Heat magazine and on The Graham Norton Show.
She agreed to pay “substantial” damages, which Peter’s solicitor confirmed would be placed into a trust fund for Harvey Price – Katie’s eldest son from her relationship with footballer Dwight Yorke.

During Christmas 2013, Katie appeared to take a swipe at Peter in a series of tweets. She wrote: “What kind of Dad doesn’t let their children see their mum not even 1 day over Christmas when the children want 2 c their mum #fakefamilyman.”
In another message to a follower, she reportedly added: “From Xmas Eve am to NYE am. I had them last Xmas Day, he had them in the eve onwards. So selfish. Can someone remind him he has a son called Harvey that calls him dad or was that just for show too.”

At the start of 2022, Katie sparked controversy with a quickly-deleted Instagram Story in which she launched an apparent unprovoked attack on her ex-husband’s wife, Dr Emily Andre, who he started dating in 2012.
Sharing a magazine cover featuring the mother-of-three, Katie branded her a “disgusting person.”
“My mouth has been shut for so long but I’ve had enough of people selling stories on me and particularly this so-called woman @dr_emily_official,” Katie began.
She went on to accuse Emily of courting the media despite claiming she didn’t want to be famous, adding: “So cringe she has used my children to make money in photo shoots yet covers her own children’s faces up!”
Writing a year on from her drug-drive crash, Katie also claimed Emily was “jealous” of her relationship with her eldest daughter, Princess.
“She claims to be a doctor who clearly doesn’t have a clue about mental health,” Katie alleged, further accusing Emily of stopping Princess from visiting her at The Priory.
The mum-of-five ended the post by saying: “Emily you are not and never will be my kids’ parent so mind your own business, you’re so two-faced and definitely not the person you portray to the public. I think you’re a disgusting person so stop trying to interfere in my life.”

Katie reignited tensions with her ex during an appearance on the podcast Anything Goes with James English, where she claimed Peter’s career had been reignited by their relationship.
“When we did jobs together I’d always get more money, make sure we had separate contracts,” she told the host, suggesting Peter “found that a bit hard.”
“I was like, well hang on, you’ve just turned up in the jungle, I’ve already got a career going on. You had a song like, how many years ago? You need to earn it. This is the truth, I don’t care what anyone says – I made Pete again. I made him,” she continued.
Doubling down on her comments, Katie said: “He was no one before he went in the jungle and that’s the truth, that’s not me being a b****. He done that one hit, like 10 years ago, and I think he forgets where he came from.”

During an appearance on the Louis Theroux Podcast in an episode released last year, Katie once again took aim at her ex-husband Peter. She claimed she had been “worth more” than him when they married and explained that the pair had always insisted on separate contracts.

“The latest comments about my children’s welfare and living arrangements compel me to set the record straight. For well-documented reasons, and for their safety, Junior and Princess came into my care in 2018 and remained with me until they reached adulthood. In 2019, the family courts issued a legally binding order to enforce this arrangement. I have never made this public before, out of respect for my children.
“In 2011 and 2015, publicly documented court cases found my ex-wife had made false claims. She was ordered to pay substantial damages and legal costs, and to apologise to me and my management. The same falsehoods are being repeated today. Unfortunately, there are many more lies and baseless accusations I have yet to address. Those will now be dealt with in the coming months.”
In response to the statement, a spokesperson for Katie told the Mirror: “Kate is in a much better and clear headspace and is at peace with the situation. This was in the past and she doesn’t feel the need to bring up tit-for-tat comments, but more importantly, she’s dealing with this the right way and it’s now in her lawyers’ hands. Kate will no longer be gaslighted and bullied as she once was…”

Princess Andre has appeared to take subtle swipes at mum Katie Price as she continues to carve her own showbiz career. In her new documentary series, The Princess Diaries, the teen is showcasing her blossoming career, but the show has opted against airing Katie’s role in her daughter’s life.
Instead, dad Peter Andre is a mainstay in the production, showing his close bond with his eldest daughter. And in the latest edition, Princess, 18, has confessed to the things she will never do that her mum did.
Speaking to the cameras for the ITV show, Princess admitted she would never do glamour modelling like her mum did. The revelation came as Princess took part in a photoshoot to mark her 18th birthday.

As she wore a number of different outfits for the shoot, including a very sheer robe, Princess looked back at her mum’s success in front of the camera. She said her shoot reminded her of her mum Katie, 47, and her campaigns over the years.
However, she admitted: “But obviously she did topless. And I would not do topless.”
She later revealed how she goes to her stepmum for advice. Princess lives with her dad and Emily Andre and their kids and added: “I feel like, if I’m ever in a situation that I don’t want to talk to dad about, I’ll speak to Ems about it.”
It comes after Princess had revealed the impact her mum’s split from Kieran Hayler had on her. Katie, 47, married Kieran, 38, in 2013 but they separated five years later after he cheated on her, including with one of her “best friends”.
After saying she didn’t feel as though she recovered from the split, Kieran has since apologised. He said: “I am as sorry as I can be to Princess witnessing us go through such a horrible separation.
“Leaving them was one of the hardest things I ever had to do.”
Despite the turmoil and apparent swipes, Princess did gush over her friendship with her mum. Addressing rumours of a rift, Princess told Closer ‘there’s no rift’.
The teenager said: “At the end of the day, it’s my show – it’s not really about any of my parents. Mum was actually featured in it, it’s just that I live with my dad. There’s no rift between anyone.”
And on the show, she revealed: “I love her, she’s like my best friend.”
Princess made her modelling debut last year with PrettyLittleThings. She has now moved into the reality TV spectrum in her own light and the influencer is set to make thousands and take after her famous parents by becoming a reality star.

Junior Andre’s girlfriend Jasmine Orr has revealed that she was “so upset” after seeing reports comparing her to Junior’s mum Katie Price. The 24-year-old opened up about experiencing fame on The Princess Diaries – ITV2’s new Princess Andre reality show.
In one episode, Princess was holidaying with Junior, 19, and Jasmine in Ibiza when Junior spoke about making his relationship public. The couple began dating in April 2024, having met through events while she was working as a PR.
“I feel like with Jasmine it’s really nice to have an older sister figure kind of thing but being part of our family isn’t as simple as it seems,” Princess told the cameras. Junior then revealed that comparisons between his girlfriend and his mum began when they met for the first time. It comes after Katie Price reaches out to Harvey’s lookalike half-brother but fears ‘he’s too scared’.

“When she met mum, obviously I want my girl and my mum to get along, who doesn’t?” Junior said. He added that he soon saw headlines “comparing the two”.
“They’re saying that my girl is trying to look like my mum,” he said. Jasmine then added: “They say that Kate’s copying me, I’m copying her. I literally was so upset and I cried.”
Princess went on to tell the camera: “I can only imagine how weird it would be to be compared to your partner’s mum and I don’t think mum would ever say that she wants to look as young as Jasmine. I think she’s happy with how she looks at the moment.”

Speaking about moving, Junior said that both mum Katie and dad Peter Andre had been “really supportive”. He said: “They were really happy for us. My parents were both there if we needed anything while moving, and we’re still going to be going for barbecues at Dad’s, or to my mum’s for movie nights.
“Family is so important. We’re going to host them here, too, once everything is settled.”

Katie Price has publicly ignored her daughter Princess Andre’s reality show upon its premiere. The Page 3 legend, 47, is mother to Junior, 20, and Princess, 18, with ex-husband Peter Andre and her second child has launched a media career in her own right with her brand new ITV2 show.
In the build-up to the launch of the programme, which aired its first episode on Sunday night, Katie is thought to have missed a planned morning meet-up with Princess Andre on her 18th birthday to party abroad instead and has reportedly been accused of ‘inserting herself’ into Princess’s success as her daughter embarks on a fledgling showbiz career. It’s also been claimed that she has tried to ‘overshadow the launch’ of the show, and all of this has prompted rumours of a rift between the mother and daughter duo.

Katie’s last posts in the hours before the show went out featured her showing fans a new jacket from her collection with JYY London and encouraging them to buy it by inserting a link. Meanwhile, Princess’ dad Peter, who shot to fame in the 1990s with the release of his hit single Mysterious Girl and was married to Katie for four years following their appearance on I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here!, appeared heavily in the first episode.
Despite her apparent silence, Katie did actually make a surprise appearance in the episode as a voice note that she had sent Princess was heard playing. Princess had to asked her mother about what she was like as a child and Katie replied: “Who was the naughtiest child? Well, you was a mummy’s girl so you used to push me more and probably get away with things so I’d say you was more naughty actually. You are still very much like me but different if that makes sense, you are more sensible. So yeah, the answer to your question is that I think you were naughty. You naughty girl! before Princess admitted in a confessional: “Me and my mum are so close. We’re more like best friends, we’ll tell each other anything.”

Just days ago, Katie confirmed on her eponymous podcast that she would not be watching the show, as she said: “I won’t be watching the show. And I won’t be promoting the show because I don’t need it rubbed in my face of everyone playing happy families but disregarding me as the other parent.
“I support Princess in everything she does, but I think it’s really wrong for her at her age to be put in this situation because she’s going to have to do press and they will ask… they are going to be asked what’s all this about your mum and why isn’t your mum and why isn’t your mum in it.”
The mum-of-five previously said she was banned from her daughter’s 18th birthday party and that her former management team – who look after ex-husband Peter Andre and Princess – did not want her on the show as they considered her “trash”.
Speaking on her podcast, Katie claimed: “Princess was like ‘I’m having a party’. And I wasn’t invited because it was for ‘filming’.” She added: “The fact is there’s stuff my daughter is doing and I’m not allowed to be seen at any of it.” But insiders claimed her version of events was far from the truth.
They said the 18-year-old had arranged to see her mum on the morning of her birthday in June in London – but Katie failed to appear. A source said: “It was all in the diary but then Katie claimed she couldn’t make it as she was abroad. It was disappointing. “For Katie to then say she was banned from the afternoon’s filmed party when she was the no-show in the morning is just beyond belief.”
Insiders are perplexed by Katie’s attempts to “repeatedly insert herself into her daughter’s career”. The model herself claimed: “I have not been allowed to go on any photoshoots, signings or Superdrug openings or anything like that. I’m not welcome.”
But the source said: “Why is she making this all about her? What sort of person on the eve of her daughter’s show, starts throwing all these grenades and believes she knows what’s best, and should be given equal billing? Pete keeps quiet about the whole situation with Katie and just wants to support his children.”

Katie, 47, told us she “feels like Brooklyn Beckham” – who is in the midst of a feud with his high-profile family – after being “isolated” by the teen, who has penned a host of influencer deals and bagged her own TV show.
Now scenes for the 18-year-old’s new TV show, The Princess Diaries, show her joining 24 other models on the catwalk in the White Isle.
She opts for a turquoise dress with bra top detail and a flowing skirt after a last minute outfit change which left her feeling anxious.
She toild the camera: “There’s a lot of models here I don’t really fit in.
“I feel really anxious, I can feel my face getting red.”
Yet after being asked to lead the array of models, Princess’ debut was hugely successful.
Her big brother Junior and his girlfriend Jazz were on hand to sip fizz and offer support inn the crowd.
As she wrapped the catwalk she cheered: “I did it i did it, I’m actually really glad I did it.
“It was a lot less intense than I thought.”

In a snap shared on EastEnders star Dean Gaffney‘s Instagram page, Katie could be seen partying with the former soap actor.
Standing in between Dean and pal Jamie O’Hara, Katie posed and pouted as the two men beamed.
A source told how the drama then played out between the pair as they were in the same location and said: “This should be a really exciting time for Princess but over the last couple of months her mum has been doing everything she can to take the limelight away from her.
The teen said she is seeking out “financial freedom” through her beauty and fashion brand deals, as well as her own jewellery brand named ‘Sparkle’ by Princess Andre.
“Princess was booked to make her catwalk debut at the opening of the Ibiza Fashion Festival back in June, and what did Katie do?
“She flew out to Ibiza and made sure everyone knew she was there with daily stories and pictures with the likes of Wayne Lineker and Dean Gaffney. It’s embarrassing.”
They added to MailOnline: “What mother wouldn’t want to let their child have their time in the spotlight?
“These latest comments are going to really upset Princess.
“Nothing is private with Katie, it’s all about keeping herself in the limelight.”
The TikTok star also addressed the “dark times” while she was growing up.
While Princess was too young to really remember her parents together, she has traumatic memories of the breakdown of Katie’s third marriage to Kieran Hayler.
In her new ITV2 series – The Princess Diaries – the teen opens up about her younger years and admits: “I did have a counsellor, I do still see her every now and then.
“But I don’t feel like I can really talk, so I just write everything down in my notes.”

Katie welcomed three of the bald cats into her home back in October – despite being blasted by animal charities for doing so.
On her Snapchat page on Friday, the mum of five told how Doris had given birth, and has now revealed she’s swerved a holiday to the Isle of Wight to look after the new litter.
Yet instead of kicking back and relaxing, she is keeping her house cosy with electric blankets and regular feeding patterns for the new arivals.
In a video which showed her in a cream jumper and her dark hair in a straight style, she added the caption “sad news” and four emotional Emoji icons.
In the clip, Katie told her followers there had been a death and said: “An update on the kittens, one unfortunately died.
“That’s the one wrapped in tissue, two hours after we fed it.
“Luckily I’m trying to help the kittens latch on to the mum, two are just about doing it but I’m having to put them on it, because they are so premature.
“As you can see how knackered I am, every two and a half hours through the day and through the night I’m feeding them for the mum.
“She’s a good mum, and then she keeps bringing one to the bed with her, she did that earlier, I think that was a sign to come and look in the box as one had died.”

“If William Hill took totally tasteless bets, the odds would favour those betting on how little time this kitten has on Earth, given the hideous track record of animal deaths in Price’s custody. No one could call it ‘care’.”
The Briton showed resilience in the early stages by staving off five break points in her opening service game.
She then wrapped up the opening set in style by winning five successive games.
After exchanging a couple of breaks in the second set, Raducanu – who also beat Ruse in Auckland in 2024 – found the crucial break to lead 5-4 and served out for the match.

Unlike the scoring debate from their second fight in November, it was difficult to disagree with this verdict as Taylor was much more economical on the night.

“I tried something different, it was all about working smarter not harder,” she said.
“I tried to keep my distance and not fight with her because apparently it didn’t work the first two fights. We tried to stay with the long punches and one twos, and it just wasn’t enough.”
During the news conference, MVP CEO Nakisa Bidarian announced there was a $250,000 performance bonus on offer for the best performance or fight of the night.
Bidarian also predicted the Serrano-Taylor bout would be the most watched combat sports event of the year so far, with Netflix streaming their second boxing event after broadcasting Jake Paul v Mike Tyson in November.
Taylor’s undisputed light-welterweight crown will be on the line once again, but this fight will have a 136lb weight limit at the behest of Serrano and her team.
The Irishwoman was also nonplussed about being announced on stage first – traditionally reserved for the challenger – branding the hoopla and pre-fight rituals as “nonsense”.
Having previously shared 20 rounds of all-out battle it’s not exactly a shock that some needle has built, with Serrano far from impressed by the scorecards from their second meeting in Texas last year.
Serrano, 36, fought most of that contest battling a massive cut above her eye.
She said adjustments are required, insisting she will box clever, and in relaying that information couldn’t resist another dig.
“I’m going to use my head, but not the way it was used on me,” Serrano said.
“We’re going to be smarter. We’re going to be smarter, work smarter. I work hard in every training camp so I didn’t work harder for this camp, but I did work a lot smarter for this fight.
“And I believe that we can come out victorious. We will come out victorious.”
In contrast, Kartal appears to be thriving at Wimbledon.
The 23-year-old has enjoyed an impressive rise in the last 12 months and beat 20th seed Jelena Ostapenko in the first round – her third win against a top-20 opponent this year. She followed that by powering past Bulgaria’s Viktoriya Tomova 6-2 6-2 to reach the third round.
Kartal is a recognisable presence on the court with her tattoos and distinctly retro tennis kit, and appears to be enjoying playing on the big stage.
Her path to professional tennis is not a well-trodden one, having had to largely self-fund her career, something she credits with helping her to mature very quickly.
“When I was growing up, I kind of did quite a lot of tournaments on my own just because I couldn’t afford to pay a coach week in and week out,” said Kartal, who has climbed around 250 places in the rankings over the past year to 51st.
“I think it was great. It helped me develop as a teenager, grow up super fast, made me much more mature, hold myself accountable to a lot of things.”
Next up for Kartal is a match against French qualifier Diane Parry, who beat 12th seed and world number 15 Diana Shnaider to reach the third round.
The British number three is determined to keep her good form going as she looks to reach the fourth round for the first time.
“I think having a home Slam, I think that’s one arena I really want to perform well in front of the people that mean the most to me, friends and family and everyone,” added Kartal.
“Also, it’s a surface that doesn’t really come naturally to me. I have to really think and adapt my game style, which I think is also going to help me develop beyond this tournament as well.”
“Athletes across all sports have been discussing this for a long time, but it hasn’t really changed. Hopefully something can get done soon.”
Asked for his view – as both an ex-player and father-of-four – about what could be done to eradicate toxic abuse, Murray said: “If I’m being honest I don’t know. Me and my wife are trying to keep our children off social media until they are much older, because I think it can be pretty damaging.”
Murray’s eldest child is nine, while his youngest is four. Many social media apps have a minimum age of 13 for users.
Technology firms will have to do more to protect young people from harmful content under the Government’s Online Safety Act. It is being introduced in phases and social media platforms are now obliged to protect users from illegal or harmful content, while more child safety measures are being introduced next month.
Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer told the BBC the government will also explore whether further protective measures can be put in place on social media platforms.
Figures provided by data science firm Signify, the International Tennis Federation (ITF) and Women’s Tennis Association (WTA) show that in 2024, about 8,000 abusive, violent or threatening messages were sent publicly to 458 tennis players through their social media accounts.
Following Boulter’s comments, fellow tennis players demanded more action, including calls for the introduction of identity verification.
Several of the England women’s football team also plan to give up social media for their forthcoming European Championship defence in Switzerland.
Murray said: “I don’t know whose responsibility it is, I don’t know if the government needs to do more to tackle it, or [X owner] Elon Musk and people like that can do more to stop these messages getting through to individuals.
“I don’t mean just athletes, but then you get into the whole debate around free speech and it’s a difficult one.”
Murray also said athletes could help themselves “by trying to avoid looking at the comments and going on our phones immediately after matches”, but the onus was not on them to solve the problem.
Former British tennis player Naomi Broady, 35, told BBC Radio 5 Live about her experiences of abuse on social media, saying: “I’ve seen the worst of trolling and after I had children, I don’t show their faces any more.”
British number two Katie Boulter says she’s had “hundreds of messages” containing “love” and “appreciation” since BBC Sport published an article where she shared the abusive messages she receives on social media.
Boulter agreed to sit down with BBC Sport to provide unprecedented insight into the volume and nature of abuse received by players, including sharing screenshots of her private inbox.
Boulter got a feel for the grass in her doubles victory alongside Raducanu on Monday but faced a tough challenge in Tomljanovic in her first singles match of the season on the surface.
Having navigated a tricky hold where she saw off break points before impressively breaking to love, she missed the opportunity at 5-4 to serve out the set.
Instead, Boulter relied on her serve to get her out of trouble in the first-set tie-break, smashing a forehand winner to take the set in just over an hour.
But things spiralled rapidly for Boulter in set two as she struggled to find any rhythm, falling down a double break and struggling to find the answers.
And, having relied so heavily on a strong serve in the first set, she double-faulted on the first point of the opening game in the decider, laying the foundations for Tomljanovic to break.
Now on a run of six games without a win for Boulter, the home crowd was flat and struggled to provide the Briton with the boost she needed.
That came soon after, though, as Boulter immediately broke back and rediscovered some momentum to win three games in a row.
More to-ing and fro-ing followed as neither player could hold their serve but Boulter eventually kept her calm at 4-4, holding serve before taking the match when Tomljanovic’s forehand dropped long.
She will face Poland’s Magdalena Frech or fifth seed Diana Shnaider in the next round.
