Netflix thriller with near-perfect score drops ‘insane’ new season trailer

The political thriller boasts an impressive 90% Rotten Tomatoes score

Netflix has just given thriller fans a glimpse into the ‘catastrophic’ drama set to unfold in its top-rated political thriller.

The Diplomat first landed on the streamer in 2023 and has since gripped viewers with the story of American diplomat Kate Wyler (played by Keri Russell).

Now, the streaming giant has just dropped the trailer for its third season, set to premiere on October 16th.

The two-minute teaser thrusts viewers into the heart of the action following the president’s death, which sparks questions about his demise.

Netflix’s synopsis teases: “Ambassador Kate Wyler lives the particular nightmare that is getting what you want. She just accused Vice President Grace Penn (portrayed by Allison Janney) of hatching a terrorist plot and admitted she’s after the VP’s job.

“But now the President is dead, Kate’s husband Hal (Rufus Sewell) may have inadvertently killed him, and Grace Penn is leader of the free world.”

With the new political head in place, the synopsis adds: “None of this slows Hal’s campaign to land Kate the vice presidency.

“Kate steps into a role she never wanted, with a freedom she never expected, an increasingly complicated friendship with Foreign Secretary Austin Dennison, and an unnerving bond with First Gentleman Todd Penn.”

Following the trailer’s release, Fans could barely contain their excitement. One took to Netflix’s YouTube comments and raved: “OH MY GOODNESS! This is INSANE!!!”

Gogglebox star breaks silence on ‘brutal axe’ from show as fans slam ‘insane’ decision

Former Gogglebox star Roisin Kelly has addressed the truth about her and Joe Kelly’s ‘brutal axe’ from the Channel 4 show in a new TikTok video which she posted online

Scottish Gogglebox favourite Roisin Kelly has lifted the lid on the reality behind her and Joe’s shocking departure from the Channel 4 programme, which made its return this weekend for series 26 without the beloved duo.

In a candid TikTok ‘get ready with me’ clip, the Glasgow-born telly personality addressed their sudden exit after three and a half years, revealing the genuine circumstances surrounding their departure.

Roisin began the video by explaining: “Obviously Gogglebox was back on last night and we seen a lot of comments saying ‘where are Joe and Roisin’. We were ‘brutally axed’.

“We weren’t asked back to do series 26. They had just said they wanted to take the show in another direction, away from our house. There’s not really any lore or any stories to it.”

The Scottish pair’s departure left Gogglebox enthusiasts stunned, with many branding the decision completely ‘insane’.

Nevertheless, the duo have maintained a remarkably upbeat attitude about the circumstances, with Roisin recently updating her Instagram biography to read ‘brutally axed from Gogglebox’, reports the Daily Record.

The couple are now being succeeded by two fresh Scottish partnerships – sisters Suzie, 70, and Rosie, 68 from Edinburgh, alongside best pals Callum, 31, and Jake, 27, from Glasgow.

They feature amongst five new households joining the Channel 4 programme.

Roisin emphasised there’s no animosity between herself and Joe and the production team, stating: “We were good friends with all the producers and that’s the thing that’s sad. Firstly, you need to get over the ego part of like being booted off.

“I don’t know who made the decision. I think it was Channel 4’s decision but you don’t know who it was in Channel 4, you don’t know why, you don’t know the inner workings so there’s no point trying to like guess and go over and over it cos you’ll never know.

“We had an amazing time on the show. You need to be grateful for the opportunity. Not people can say they got to be on Gogglebox and watch TV for money.”

When quizzed about whether they might return to Gogglebox, Roisin declared: “I mean I don’t think that’s an option.

“I get lots of questions about Gogglebox with people recently asking me if I could put in a good word for them. “.

She cheekily remarked: “Not really no, if you find out who to ask, put in a good word for me as well. Free Joe and Roisin – bring us back.”

Nevertheless, she disclosed there’s another programme that she and Joe have set their sights on, revealing: “If anyone knows how to get us on Race Across the World, maybe we’ll do that instead.”

Roisin continued: “there are a few articles saying we’re going into the jungle on I’m a Celebrity but I feel like sitting on your arse for three years watching TV in our case probably doesn’t qualify you for I’m A celeb but it’s nice to be included in the rumours.”

The popular Scottish pair announced their departure from the forthcoming series of the Channel 4 show at the end of July, releasing a joint statement to confirm their exit.

It stated: “After three and a half years of sitting on the sofa, Channel 4 have decided it’s time for Joe and I to stretch our legs and have not asked us back for season 26. Therefore we are leaving the Gogglebox family.

“It’s been an honour to represent Scotland as some of the first Scottish people on the show and prove we don’t actually need subtitles.

“We have made friends for life and after filming every week for years you have become like our family! We could not have asked for better people to work with and we will miss you immensely.”

Gogglebox airs Fridays on Channel 4 at 9pm

Murphy put his eight-fight win streak on the line in his clash with the former uber-prospect, which he had just THREE WEEKS to prepare for.

The Manchester Top Team standout was hoping a dominant victory over the American would earn him the next crack at featherweight king Alexander Volkanovski.

And he staked his claim to be champion Alexander Volkanovski’s next outing with viral KO of Californian clubber Pico, which saw him move to 9-0 in MMA‘s top promotion.

“I’m next in line,” he roared in his post-fight interview wth Joe Rogan. “Let’s go, Volkanovski!”

Pico immediately took the centre of the octagon and put Murphy on the back foot before going to work with vicious body shots against the cage.

Murphy remained composed and landed a nasty short elbow in tight before briefly being taken down.

He looked to establish distance with a long teep and strikes from distance but was taken down again just before the two-minute mark.

But he managed to return to his feet again and landed a beautiful knee to the body, which echoed throughout the arena just before the midway point of the round.

Pico continued to pressure and look for clinches across the fence.

She’s been documenting her weight loss journey on her TikTok page, and is now no stranger to confidently flaunting her new figure in skintight ensembles.

But it was a different story two years ago, when Karina was a whopping 10 stone (65kg) heavier.

In a slideshow of pictures on TikTok, she showed how she looked before losing the weight – soundtracked by Michael Bublé’s cover of Nina Simone’s Feeling Good.

In the final picture, at the culmination of the song, she showed how she looks now – with her figure perfectly highlighted by her bodycon dress.

“The journey is worth it. This is your sign to start,” she captioned the TikTok.

Unsurprisingly, people were gobsmacked by Karina’s new look, with some even alleging her glow up was AI.

“Feelinggggg… AI,” one laughed.

“Convince me that’s not AI!” another said.

While a third wrote a simple “AI”, to which Karina responded: “I’ll take this as a compliment!”

And others praised Karina for her dedication to her weight loss and transformation.

“My jaw just dropped at your last picture,” one wrote.

“Wow girl! You owned it!”

“This is a glow upp for real,” another said.

“You look like sofia vergara,” a third added.

“Biggest glow up,” someone else said.

“Wowwwww big respect, you look gorgeous,” another wrote.

“Ultimate glow up- inspiration!” someone else gushed.

As another said Karina looks “stunning”, and added: “Wow deffo glow up, well done!”

In a separate video on TikTok, Karina responded to the AI allegations as she captioned it: “Am I AI? That’s the question!”

Alongside it, she shared shots of herself in 2019 and then this year.

“You have nothing to prove to anyone but yourself; I’d take it as a compliment!” one person commented on that clip.

“The best best beeeeest weight loss transformation I have seen and I have seen many,” another praised.

Karina went on to reveal that her new look was sparked by the breakdown of her marriage.

“The breakup glow up needs to be studied,” she wrote over the top of a TikTok.

Before adding in the caption: “You don’t realise how much a situation drains you until you’re out of it.”

She added hashtags including “#divorce” and “#transformation”.

French Open 2025: Jack Draper’s rise ‘insane’ says next opponent Alexander Bublik

In 23-year-old Draper, British tennis fans believe they may just have found their next serial Grand Slam contender.

British former world number four Tim Henman told BBC Sport recently that Draper’s best attributes – his left-handed serve and crunching forehand – could “work on any surface”.

Prior to this year, though, Draper had never won a match at the clay-court major with most of his success coming on hard courts or grass.

However, he has made huge strides on the surface this season and reached his first clay final in Madrid in April.

Managing to avoid the injuries that have plagued him in the past has enabled Draper to reach a significantly higher level of fitness, which has been key to his improvement on the slower surface.

Now just the world number 62 stands between him and another Grand Slam quarter-final.

And while Draper has enjoyed the best year of his career, Bublik fell from a high of 17th in the rankings in 2024 to as low as 82nd in March.

That prompted a radical change of approach that led to the Kazakh taking a trip to Las Vegas that month to blow off some steam.

“My fall was not linked with lack of attitude and lack of practising,” he said.

“It was the exact opposite. I just burned out because I was waiting for the results to come.

“I was like, if I practise more, if I hit better forehands, it will come. It didn’t, and then I got to the point of ‘OK, why am I sacrificing so much? For what?'”

Asked if the trip to Nevada was a training trip, Bublik added: “No, Vegas, Vegas, like a hangover thing Vegas.

“It was a good three days. I had just let it all out. I said, I’m useless now, I can’t win a match, so let it be, let’s see how it goes.”

It worked as Bublik won his next event, the Challenger tournament in Phoenix, Arizona, having arrived from Vegas three hours before his first match. He also triumphed on clay in Turin last month.

The 27-year-old is slowly climbing the rankings again – but Draper will be keen to ensure a first Grand Slam quarter-final appearance has to wait.
