WITH its pretty timber-framed walls and stained-glass windows, even from the outside you can instantly tell The Old Inn is something special.
It’s been welcoming guests since 1614, but that doesn’t mean the hotel in the village of Crawfords-burn, Co Down, is stuck in a time warp.

Inside, it has been transformed into an oasis of modern luxury, and it has proved such a hit since it was bought by the Galgorm hotel group in 2021 that it was recently crowned the AA’s Hotel of the Year for Northern Ireland.
Now, with its stunning Treetop spa, it promises the ultimate romantic retreat – apt, because Narnia author CS Lewis chose it for his honeymoon in July 1958.
We stayed in one of the spacious junior suites, with a super-king bed and a stand-alone copper bath by the ornate bay window.
Antique furnishings maintain the 17th-century character, while the bathrooms are new and luxurious, with a marble sink and a vast rainfall shower.
The attention to detail really makes it stand out from other 4* hotels, with lavish toiletries, fluffy robes and slippers, a GHD hairdryer, and free soft drinks in the fridge as well as a Nespresso coffee machine and minibar.
We spent most of our stay unwinding in the Treetop spa, which is without doubt the star of the show.
Hotel guests get access from noon on the day of check-in until check-out.
Overlooking the Crawfordsburn Country Park and surrounded by greenery, this outdoor haven features a heated hydrotherapy pool, Jacuzzi, sauna and steam room.
Or you can also relax by a wood-fire stove in the cosy conservatory, taking in the forest views below, or indulge in a treatment such as a facial or massage.
But the best part is that you can order cocktails straight to the pool or your lounger.
On a Sunday morning, I was able to sweat out my multiple cocktails in the hotel’s new gym, which also offers various classes, including yoga.
As for food, the hotel’s charming 1614 Bar offers pub grub such as fish and chips and burgers.
For dinner, we headed into The Restaurant to try the a-la-carte menu.
It’s not cheap, but is excellent if you fancy splashing out.
To start, I had the white asparagus with shaved mushrooms, Irish coppa and truffled honey (£15), and for my main I had the monkfish with spring brassicas, mussels and buttermilk (£33) with a great bottle of white wine.
After dinner, we returned to the 1614 Bar for a nightcap or two with live music.
Breakfast is a continental buffet spread and guests can also order a la carte.
The hotel prides itself on its fresh food, so everything from fish to yoghurt at breakfast was local.
We then strolled through the park to Crawfordsburn beach.
A winding path takes you through woods, then the trees clear and you are on to the sweeping, sandy beach looking out over Belfast Lough.
You can see why CS Lewis chose this spot for his honeymoon – with stunning scenery on your doorstep and a warm welcome, it’s couples heaven.

They adorn tea towels, shirts, skirts, dresses, trousers, and bags galore.
Our base on Travelsphere’s eight-day tour of the Amalfi Coast, Pompeii and Capri was the charming, laid-back seaside village of Minori, at the excellent family-run 4* Hotel Villa Romana.
Just three miles and a glorious 15- minute boat ride from Amalfi itself, Minori is quieter and classier, with stylish and affordable restaurants and bars.
Surprisingly for a village of its size, Minori has an 18th-century neoclassical domed cathedral. Surrounded by lemon groves, of course.
One of my highlights was walking the Path of Lemons, which connects Minori to the larger neighbouring village of Maiori.
The trek takes around 90 minutes, with an initial climb up several hundred steps and a similar descent.
But the view of the village and sea is spectacular and worth every straining leg sinew.
The beauty of our schedule is that there is still plenty of free time for you to pursue your own holiday agenda.
You’ll get the chance to indulge at Minori’s sumptuous Sal De Riso patisserie or watch the famed limoncello being made at the Liquorificio Mansi Carlo.
Alternatively, stop by at one of Minori’s beachside bars and watch the tide roll in.
But the best place to see the Amalfi Coast is from the sea and the area is served by efficient, reasonably-priced ferry operators.
It is only from the clear blue waters that you fully appreciate the stunning coastline and its tumble-down towns with pastel-coloured houses perched precariously atop majestic cliffs.
Our first trip was to the historic town of Amalfi itself, dramatically set below those same cliffs.
On arrival at Amalfi, we had the freedom to see the town for ourselves.
The main square and its streets were packed with sightseers.
But climb a few steps up one of the alleyways and you will find peace and quiet and cheaper restaurants.
Amalfi Town and beachCredit: GettyThe undoubted gem of the tour was our visit to Pompeii, destroyed when Mount Vesuvius erupted in 79AD
A lunch of cured meats and seafood, in cool stone surroundings behind a church, cost £21.50 a head with drinks.
By the time we had finished, the crowds had thinned out at Amalfi’s magnificent medieval cathedral, which holds the remains of St Andrew.
But there was no escaping the crowds at Capri, a gorgeous 90-minute boat trip from Minori.
The island has been home to the international jet set for decades and it’s not difficult to see why.
A walk down to the gardens of Capri Town was followed by a look, from outside anyway, at the amazing designer boutique shops.
A glass of fresh orange and lemon juice from a stall was a cheaper alternative to buying a designer Patek Philippe watch — and then it was time to get our minibus to Anacapri.
This village, with views of the Bay of Naples, is much quieter and more affordable than Capri Town.
We got the chairlift up to the highest point of the island, almost 1,800ft above sea level with a view to die for.
There are optional tour trips to the lively lemon-filled town of Sorrento and the gorgeous cliffside village of Positano.
Or you could take the 45-minute ferry from Minori to Salerno, a bustling coastal city where we had a superb fish lunch at Mama Rosa.
The undoubted gem of the tour was our visit to Pompeii, destroyed when Mount Vesuvius erupted in 79AD.
The last agonies of victims frozen in time when they suffocated from poison gases are captured in plaster moulds created from their remains.

It is a powerful experience.
And yet the humanity of this once prosperous and thriving coastal Roman city, discovered in 1748, shines through from the haunting remains.
The municipal buildings, public baths, grand villas, lead pipe water system and amphitheatres paint a picture of an advanced society on which much of our own world today is based.
Our last scheduled trip was to the gorgeous medieval mountainside village of Ravello, with its cobbled streets lined with pottery and linen shops leading off the main square and 11th-century cathedral.
The journey up to the 1,200ft-high village involves navigating hairpin bends with sheer drops below.
It was not a drive I would have relished but in the expert hands of our driver I felt safer than being on the M25.
A delicious lunch followed at the Il Rifugio family-run restaurant in Tramonti, a 15-minute drive from Ravello up into the Lattari “Milk” Mountains — so-named because of the goats which graze there.
After taking in the spectacular view of the sea, and sampling local wines, we were then driven to a small local vineyard to see how it was produced.
All too soon it was time for the journey home from Naples Airport, with its abundance of lemon gifts and souvenirs.
Fortunately, you don’t get a hangover from vitamin C.
GO: AMALFI COAST
GETTING / STAYING THERE: Travelsphere’s eight-day escorted tour of the Amalfi Coast, Pompeii and Capri starts in Naples and visits Amalfi, Capri, Minori, Sorrento, Pompeii, Positano, Ravello and the Amalfi Hills.
Seven nights is from £1,699pp, including return flights from London, overseas transfers, seven nights’ half-board in a 4* hotel, select meals and a welcome drink as well as Travelsphere holiday director and specialist local guide.
Looking nervously to my right, I see a small avalanche careering down the side of Mont Blanc.
It’s a not-so-subtle reminder that the ropes around our waists are the only things that might offer protection if the glacier beneath our feet suddenly shifts.
But despite the snow on the ground, I’m soon stripping off my layers because the temperatures can reach balmy heights in this gorgeous Italian Alpine region during summer.
To arrive here, I hopped on the Skyway Monte Bianco cable car which whizzed me 3,466 metres up to the glacier from the village of Courmayeur in ten minutes — with a stop at 2,173 metres to switch cabs.
The cable car costs £50 in advance to go to the top — but this does include entrance to a variety of attractions including an Alpine garden, kids’ play area and Europe’s highest library.
As well as a chance to refuel in its restaurants, the middle Skyway station offers another treat — a cave where they mature a vintage wine grown here.
And even if you’re not drinking wine, you’ll be able to drink in the amazing views of Italy’s Aosta Valley.
Skyway Monte Bianco slowly rotates so you don’t miss any of the incredible scenery.
Back in the sun-drenched valleys, there’s not a speck of snow in sight — but we still eat for winter, piling our plates with gourmet raclette and classic Italian pastas.
The region’s restaurant highlights include Cadran Solaire, whose wild-boar ragu is the stuff foodie dreams are made of.
But if your stomach is firmly in summer mode, you can tuck into lighter home-cooked delights at La Terrazza, where the owner has brought southern Italian delicacies to the Alps.
Classics like carbonara are on offer, as well as starters of anchovies with mozzarella.
Live the high life on the Skyway Monte BiancoCredit: GettyEnjoy stunning mountain viewsCredit: Getty
If you’re worried about all those calories, the slopes of Courmayeur will be your saviour.
The mountains become a walkers’ paradise in summer, with unbelievable trails from the two valleys either side.
One morning, I headed to Val Ferret, which can be accessed by bike, a free bus or car.
It’s flanked by the Mont Blanc Massif, Mont Dolent and Tour Noir.
From here you can see the gigantic Brenva Glacier — the second-longest glacier in Italy.
The valley can be enjoyed on foot, or on horseback for around €30 (£25) an hour.
But for those who prefer something more challenging, the ski area Checrouit offers uphill walks where you climb 300 metres in just an hour.
Thank goodness for the heated pool and sauna back at the Gran Baita.
I’m not sure how my limbs would have recovered without them.

TELLY favourites Stacey Solomon and Joe Swash are set to upgrade their Pickle Cottage home for a sprawling mansion set in 30 acres.
The couple have set their sights on an impressive eight-bedroom Victorian mansion, which is said to be central to DIY influencer Stacey’s next renovation project.

A source said the pair “fell in love” with the Essex property after viewing it as a potential new home for their family of eight.
Stacey, 36, will have her work cut out transforming the already-impressive gaff, which costs almost double the £1.3million price of their current home and is more than 7,500 sq ft — complete with a pool and a lake.
Our source said the couple would be sad to leave Pickle Cottage, but are grateful to have the chance to make “new memories” with their brood.
They said: “They viewed the house and fell in love with it. It’s got extra space for the kids.
“Pickle Cottage only has five bedrooms. They have six children and then they need a room for themselves. It gives Stacey a chance to do more of her amazing DIY work as well.
“She has a great eye for interiors. This house needs a bit of love and work to make it the absolute dream home where they can make new memories.”
The family’s current Tudor-style Pickle Cottage, also in Essex, is the setting for their reality TV show, which launched to 4.2million viewers in April last year, with a second series last September.

The BBC has commissioned a third series of the show, despite scrutiny after The Sun’s revelation that the couple’s lavish 2022 wedding was never made legal.
Following the news, Stacey took to social media to tell her six million followers the pair had always been clear it was a “religious ceremony and blessing” in their garden.
She added that the couple plan to get “legally married at a later point”.
Stacey and Joe, 44, have three kids together — Rex, seven, Rose, four, and three-year-old Belle — while Stacey also has teenage sons Zachary, 18, and Leighton, 14, and Joe has son Harry, 19.

In March, after being pictured multiple times with and without her wedding ring, Stacey addressed speculation about “issues going on” in her marriage on ITV’s This Morning.
She told presenter Ben Shephard: “There’s a new rumour each week. Have I not been wearing my ring? I probably took it off to go to the toilet or something.”
Stacey and ex-EastEnders star Joe have built lucrative careers on their family image after first meeting on ITV’s I’m a Celebrity show in 2010.

A source said: “Madonna and Kylie have long been fans of each other, so when Kylie got the call to make a cameo in the BBC special, it was a no-brainer. Rather than a performance, Kylie actually appears in the show in a light-hearted skit.
“She plays a barmaid, though, awkwardly, Madonna doesn’t like the drink Kylie gives her. It’s all very light-hearted.”
The Sun understands the pair have discussed hitting the studio together in the future.
The TV special, Madonna & Graham, airs tonight at 10.40pm on BBC One.
It was filmed in Camden at Koko, where Madonna performed for the first time in the UK for just 200 people in 1983 when it was called the Camden Palace.
Graham said: “As a lifelong fan it is always a thrill to interview Madonna. But to meet her on the dance floor where she first performed in London over 40 years ago felt incredibly special.”
Kylie made a surprise guest appearance at Madonna’s The Celebration Tour in LA in 2024.
They performed Gloria Gaynor’s 1978 hit I Will Survive in a nod to Kylie’s 2005 breast cancer battle.

HARRY Styles has some tricky steps to negotiate in his £30million mansion project — restoring a rotten staircase.

The staircase revamp could delay the renovation project, which is slated for completion by October 2027.
A source said: “Harry doesn’t do anything by halves.
“This is a very ambitious project so there are bound to be stumbling blocks.
“The staircase is the latest snag but it’s a lovely period feature and he’s going to get the very best craftsmen to make it as good as new.
“It will take a while because it has to be taken apart piece by piece, restored and then put back in place, so it could well affect the deadline.”
In planning documents, Harry’s team say the condition of the 1734 staircase has deteriorated and it had some “poor-quality repairs” over the years.
He has appointed heritage carpentry experts to assess the best way to restore the feature.

But Joel caught J-Lo’s attention in December after remixing her 2005 single Get Right, before he remixed her David Guetta collaboration Save Me Tonight in March.
And after flying Bizarre’s Jack out to Ibiza to join him for a mad 24 hours on the party island, Joel says he’s working on getting a studio date with her.
“I’m still in touch with J-Lo and her team, and we’re trying to work on new music together,” Joel says.
“She loves dance music and doing a remix for Get Right for her last year was an honour.
“It was amazing to meet her and build that friendship.
“I look forward to her doing more of that.”
Of his close friend David, Joel adds: “I talk to him all the time.
“I am playing with him in a few weeks at Ushuaïa.
“He books me back every year to support him at Ushuaïa.
“He’s the best.
“He’s the King of Ibiza.”
Before he nails down his time with J-Lo, Joel has another project up his sleeve — and we did not see it coming.
He has recorded a track with Aleksandr Orlov, the animated aristocratic Russian meerkat who has been fronting ads with his “simples” catchphrase for Compare the Market since 2009.
Together they’re launching a bid for No1 with Simples featuring Scrufizzer [Joel Corry Remix].
Joel says with a laugh: “Listen, you know I’m the king of the summer bangers.
Joel says he’s working on getting a studio date with J-LoCredit: GettyJoel flew Bizarre’s Jack Hardwick out to Ibiza to join him for a mad 24 hours on the party islandCredit: Supplied
“And for Aleksandr the meerkat, it’s always been his dream to have a summer banger.
“So I’m just helping him out.
“Aleksandr for No1.”
Joel has big ambitions for his animated pal too, and is hoping ITV calls him up for a performance in the Love Island villa, three years after he played there with Becky Hill.
“I’ve done Love Island but we need to get the meerkat on Love Island,” Joel says.
“He would clean up in the villa, wouldn’t he?
“I’d love to go back and, this time, we’ll bring Aleksandr.”
During Jack’s whirlwind trip to Ibiza, he joined Joel in the DJ booth for his set at Wayne Lineker’s infamous O Beach, where he premiered Simples live.
He was accompanied by his girlfriend Coco Lodge, who found fame on series eight of Love Island, the same year he performed.
While he kept tight-lipped as to whether a proposal is on the cards, Joel has his heart set on Ibiza for the big day.
He says: “I’ve always said if I was ever gonna get married, Ibiza would be the place to do it.
“It has a special place in my heart.
“The first time I came here was when I was in my early twenties, and I’ve been back every year since.
“I’ve had residencies here for the last few years, and this is definitely my happy place.
“I think it’d be a perfect place to get married.”
While I’m sure Joel’s brother will be his best man, I wouldn’t put it past Aleksandr to wangle himself a role as ring bearer if all goes well with their track.
TWO years after hanging up his football boots to pursue a career in modelling, a major curve ball has seen Romeo Beckham land his first acting role.
The 23-year-old will make his big-screen debut this November in movie Forty Love, which centres on a same-sex romance involving two rising tennis stars.

Insiders say Romeo — the middle son of David and Victoria Beckham — honed his skills during secret acting lessons last year.
A source revealed: “Romeo has long been in demand for film and TV roles, but he made sure to do the work before putting his name to anything.
“Forty Love’s script and the team behind it resonated with Romeo, plus he has first-hand experience of being a professional sportsperson and knew he could bring that knowledge and experience to the role.
“It’s a French film and is currently only slated for release over there, although there will be plans for a wider rollout.
“Romeo had a handful of lessons with acting specialists early last year before they started filming. He has put his heart and soul into this role.”
Forty Love is described as a “sensual, romantic and deeply moving fable and coming-of-age story.”
Most of the movie will be in French, but Romeo plays an English-speaking character, using his native language in his scenes.
It is a far cry from the football pitch or runways across the globe where he has modelled for Saint Laurent, Balenciaga and Burberry.
His fans have applauded his new career, with many comparing Forty Love to HBO Max series Heated Rivalry, in which two professional male ice-hockey players have a secret romance.
But Romeo himself is aware of being branded a nepo baby as he expands his showbiz CV, just like his ex-footballer dad David and former Spice Girl mum Victoria did before him.
And he is not the first famous youngster to move into acting. Maya Hawke — daughter of Hollywood actors Ethan Hawke and Uma Thurman — is now a screen star following her breakout role in Netflix’s Stranger Things.

A source said: “Romeo knows there will be a lot of eyes on him, but his work will speak for itself.
“This film will show people what Romeo can do. He is an impressive actor and this is a great starting point for him.
“He is still working as a model and he has just launched his clothing range Intra, which is a project he has been working hard on in the background.
“Romeo is a grafter.”
Forty Love will be the directorial debut for fashion photographer Pierre-Ange Carlotti, who has cast French actor Paul Kircher alongside Romeo.
Paul plays the leading role of Sacha Gallo, a tennis superstar who is vying to win a major trophy in Paris under the guid- ance of his coach and father.
Romeo will play his rival — and his love interest. The film’s synopsis says of Sacha: “For the first time, he faces an opponent of an entirely different nature — love.
“A force as exhilarating as it is destabilising — and far more dangerous than anything he has encountered on the court.”
News of Romeo’s acting debut had been kept a closely guarded secretCredit: Instagram/@romeobeckhamRomeo and the family donning his new sportswear line, Intra, to mark the launchCredit: Instagram
Renowned French actress Catherine Deneuve has also been cast in the film, which will be released on November 25. Those close to Romeo say he is being quietly championed behind the scenes by David and Victoria, who are “beyond proud” of his new venture.
A source added: “David and Victoria have always supported all of their children. And seeing Romeo taking on his first big film is a huge moment for them. They couldn’t be more proud of him and what he has achieved.”
News of Romeo’s acting debut had been kept a closely guarded secret.
Work poured in for the youngster, who made his modelling debut for Burberry in 2012, aged ten.
In the months after his decision to step away from football, he walked on runways for Balenciaga, Burberry and Versace, before he was put forward for the role in Forty Love. Production started on the film last summer and wrapped late last year.
“Romeo didn’t want any fanfare around his new role, so he kept it very quiet,” an insider explained. “He wanted to get his head down and get his teeth into the character and focus on that as best he could.
“Romeo is used to playing a character on the catwalk — it’s why modelling is such a stepping stone for acting jobs because you are playing a role.

“His acting lessons made sure he felt confident and then he got to work.
“By all accounts, he loved the experience and it’s likely there will be more roles to come after Forty Love comes out.” Romeo will be following in his mum’s footsteps with his jump to the big screen.
Fashion designer Victoria was the first in the family to hit the big time in the Spice Girls film, Spice World, in 1997.
To date, it is the highest-grossing film of all time by a musical group, and in the US it broke the record for the highest-ever weekend debut for a Super Bowl weekend, with box office sales of more than £8million. Twenty years later, David followed suit with a small speaking role in Guy Ritchie’s King Arthur: Legend Of The Sword.
He said of breaking into films: “I am very aware that many sportsmen and other celebrities have turned their hand to acting and failed. I know it is a tough profession, where you need a huge amount of skill and discipline. I wouldn’t want to push myself forward too soon, without learning more about it and doing a lot more practice. But what I have done so far, I have loved.
“I can deal with most things. I am a well-known person, so I have gotten used to criticism. It was nerve-racking delivering the lines, but it actually went really well.
“The thing about sport is that it gets the heart beating faster.
“You focus the mind in order to deliver. Acting has a similar feel.”
Brooklyn, the eldest of the Beckham clan, demanded in January that his family only contact him through lawyersCredit: Getty
Romeo’s sister-in-law, Nicola Peltz, who is married to his estranged brother Brooklyn, works as an actress, too. But she has failed to make her mark on the industry.
Her directorial debut Lola, which she also starred in, came out to much fanfare two years ago. But it was savaged by critics and took just £480 at the box office.
Nicola was blasted for creating a film inspired by “poverty porn”, which a commentator said was “filled to the brim with underbaked, oftentimes harmful tropes”.
Undeterred by the failure, Nicola has spent the past few months filming Prima, which is a debut from famed photographers The Morelli Brothers.
The indie film will see Nicola playing a ballerina who is raised and coached by her grandmother, played by Faye Dunaway. Prima is expected to be released later this year, although no official date has been confirmed. Romeo, alongside the wider Beckham family, has had no meaningful contact with Brooklyn since he cut himself off last year.
Insiders joked Romeo was rivalling Nicola by entering the acting sphere, but conceded: “It’s hardly a competition.
“Romeo is carving out his own lane, just as he has done his entire career.”
Brooklyn, the eldest of the Beckham clan, demanded in January that his family only contact him through lawyers.
He later issued a blistering statement insisting he no longer wanted to be a part of the family.
His decision to cut himself off was hugely painful for the Beckhams, including his younger brother Cruz, 21, and his little sister Harper, 14, who was seen delivering a letter to the home he shares with Nicola in Los Angeles earlier this month.
A source said: “Brooklyn has made his position clear and the family have respected that.
“It’s painful for everyone involved.”
Romeo will be supported by family at the release of Forty Love, with promotional screenings being drawn up beforehand.
A source said: “David and Victoria are both so incredibly proud of Romeo.
“They know how hardworking he is and have supported him throughout this project.
“Romeo knows what he wants in life and will work hard to get it.”

He had previously instructed his parents not to tag him in online posts – something that they have continually ignored.
The feud has rumbled on for over a year with a source telling The Sun that Brooklyn has been left filled with rage following his mum and dad’s latest stunt.
An insider told The Sun: “He’s fuming about it.
“He’s asked them to leave him alone and they just keep posting him.

HE stands to inherit his late dad Liam Payne’s £21million fortune, but nine-year-old Bear might not see a penny until he is at least 25.
His mum Cheryl Tweedy wants the legacy to be withheld until the lad is old enough to make informed financial decisions.
Cheryl, who was named an administrator of Liam’s asset, wants Bear to not gain full access to Liam Payne’s £21million fortune until he is much olderCredit: GettyBear is to be the sole beneficiary of the tragic singer’s £21million fortune
She has gone all out to protect their son since he was born in 2017, shielding him from the public eye in a bid to give him as normal a childhood as possible.
And she is keen not to expose him to the pressures of having such huge wealth at his young age.
High Court probate documents published over the weekend confirmed Bear is the sole beneficiary of his father’s fortune.
Parts of the estate — which includes the five-bedroom home at Chalfont St Giles, Bucks, that Liam bought for £3.25million in 2021 to be closer to his son following his split from Cheryl — can be used immediately to look after Bear’s needs.
However, Cheryl, who was named an administrator of Liam’s assets last year, would prefer he does not gain full access until he is much older.
“Protecting Bear is Cheryl’s priority in life,” a friend explained. “She is a devoted mother and will do everything she can to take care of him.
“Cheryl knows how difficult it can be to live in the public eye and has shielded Bear from that as much as she can.
“Inheriting this amount of money at a young age is enough to have the potential to send anyone sidewards — and that is what she wants to protect Bear from.
“She is going to stop him receiving Liam’s inheritance until he is at least 25 years old, if not older.
“For Cheryl, she feels that she wants Bear to be of an age where he can make informed decisions about the money.”
It was not until 2016 that they started dating, and Bear was born the following year.

Their relationship ended in 2018, with Cheryl and Liam becoming devoted co-parents to their young son.
In a statement following their break-up, Liam wrote online: “We still have so much love for each other as a family.
“Bear is our world and we ask that you respect his privacy as we navigate our way through this together.”
In the years that followed, Liam regularly praised Cheryl’s ability as a mother and revealed she had stayed at home with their son while he pursued his solo music career.
He said of the former Girls Aloud star: “What I’ve learnt about being a dad is how hard it is to be a mum and she hasn’t had any help from anybody and she’s done it all herself.
“She supported me going off and doing my career and stuff. She is amazing.”
Cheryl, too, spoke fondly of Liam and revealed becoming a mother had changed the way she wanted to live her life. She said in 2019: “Everything changed for me from the moment Bear was born.
“My old brain came out of my head, and all my worries, anxieties and feelings of emptiness went, and a new brain replaced it.

“I knew the word ‘fulfilled’, but I’d never known what that felt like.
“Money, fame, success should have made me feel that, but they never did, which is probably why I looked for it in my relationships with men, but that never worked either.
“I was always angry at myself.
“And then, even though I’d had a really tough pregnancy because I had gestational diabetes, I felt more peaceful. The moment I held him in my arms I had that feeling: Fulfilment. It’s stayed with me. And I’ve changed so much. I really have.”
Together, Cheryl and Liam chose to keep their son out of the spotlight and, to date, the schoolboy is rarely seen.
She also continued to keep his face shielded from view, a decision she made with Liam when Bear was still a small child.
A friend explained: “Giving her son a normal and happy childhood is what Cheryl remains focused on.
“She wants him to have a life that other kids have. His parents might have been public figures, but Bear is not. Keeping that normality and stability for her son is paramount for Cheryl.
“It’s why the idea of him inheriting such a vast amount of money is worrying. Not everyone in this world has good intentions and Cheryl knows that.
“She wants him to still have ambition and the drive to succeed without the back-up of the money — and she’s aware that people may want to befriend him because they are aware of his situation.
“Guiding her son and controlling his access to the money will allow her to keep him safe. The older he is, the more wise he will be and, ultimately, when he is a man in his twenties with a job and a life of his own, he will be better able to make informed decisions with her guidance.

“It is all any mother would want for their child.”
The singer fell to his death from a third-floor hotel balcony in Buenos Aires, Argentina, in October 2024.
An autopsy confirmed he died from multiple traumas and internal and external bleeding.
He had been with his girlfriend Kate Cassidy in the days leading up to the tragedy. She left the country to return to the house they shared in the US days before Liam died. Two men were arrested on suspicion of supplying him with cocaine before his death.
Liam’s body was repatriated to the UK for his funeral in Amersham, Bucks, which was attended by his closest friends and family.
Liam’s One Direction bandmate and close friend Niall Horan spent time with him in Argentina prior to his death after Liam flew there to watch him perform.

Three weeks ago, he spoke movingly about Liam and said he will cherish their last meeting. Niall revealed: “I’m glad of that, it means my last memory of him was happy. It still feels surreal.
“On day one I was, like, ‘Nah, it didn’t happen’. Our friendship was a bond that was there for ever, even if we hadn’t seen each other for a while.
“And it’s wild that one day, like the flick of a switch, he’s gone.
“All our families are in touch, they shared those experiences, too.”
Recalling the good times he shared with Liam, Niall added: “When I think of Liam’s passing, there is sadness, but it also makes me laugh because of the memories we had.
“I’ll go to places and think of something random that makes me laugh.”
In the days before the service, Cheryl issued a statement about Liam, saying: “As I try to navigate this earth-shattering event, and work through my own grief at this indescribably painful time, I’d like to kindly remind everyone that we have lost a human being.
“Liam was not only a pop star and celebrity, he was a son, a brother, an uncle, a dear friend and a father to our son.
“A son that now has to face the reality of never seeing his father again.”
She added: “Before you leave comments or make videos, ask yourself if you would like your own child or family to read them.
“Please give Liam the little dignity he has left in the wake of his death to rest in some peace at last.”
Since then, friends say Cheryl has devoted her time to caring for Bear and is determined to give him stability.
“Cheryl loves being a mum and doing all the normal things that parents do,” a pal explained.
“The school drop-off and pick-up, play dates with friends, cooking the dinners — she does it all while juggling work commitments.
“Cheryl knows there will be interest around Bear because of who his parents are. But that doesn’t mean he has to live that life — or even have any part in it. Protecting him from that and caring for him is all she cares about.
“She is a mother first and foremost. Her son will always be her number one priority.”

Now The Sun can reveal she secretly flew into London earlier this month from her LA bolthole and has been writing and recording at Church Studios in North London over the past week.
In even more exciting news for fans, other famous musicians have been spotted there while she has been inside.
It all leads to hopes the 38-year-old may have collaborations on her next record, having never done so on the core work of her four albums.
American singer-songwriter Justin Vernon, better known as frontman of indie folk band Bon Iver, was photographed outside the studios last Wednesday.
It is not known whether he is working with Adele, although in 2016 she tweeted: “Bon Iver’s music is one of the true loves of my life. Every. Single. Time.”
Gen Z heartbreak singer Gracie Abrams also appeared to be shooting a music video outside at the same time.
Church Studios are also where she made parts of her 2015 album 25.

A source said: “Adele is spending at least a fortnight in London writing and recording music.
“She was in and out of sessions last week and will be back in there this week, but she is keeping a low profile while she is here.
“She feels safe at Church Studios and it’s where Paul is based, so it made sense to travel over for the sessions, rather than work somewhere else in LA.”
The studios were previously owned by Eurhythmics great Dave Stewart, and it was where the British band recorded their 1983 album Sweet Dreams (Are Made Of This).
Industry insiders believe the move is an attempt to develop a more English-sounding album, after her most recent one, 30, was made in the States.
A second music source said: “Adele has been living in LA for a decade now and although she loves it, her roots in London are very important to her.
“People close to her have been encouraging her to reconnect with where she grew up for her new music, because they believe it will help inspire something different.
“Her last album was well received but it was very Hollywood.
“People loved Adele originally because she was down to earth and relatable, so she’s trying to bring that back by drawing on inspirations in her home town.
“Coldplay, Paul McCartney, Oasis, Mick Jagger, Florence + The Machine, Culture Club, The Streets, Tom Jones, and her close friend Jack Penate have all worked at Church Studios before, so she’s in good company.”
Adele was born in Tottenham, North London, and later moved to Brixton and West Norwood in South London.
On her third album 25, released in 2015 just before she relocated to the US, she had lyrics about the capital and a song called River Lea, about the waterway running through Tottenham.
But 2021’s 30 was written about her divorce from charity entrepreneur Simon Konecki, which happened in LA, and made no mention of the UK.
After releasing the record, she performed two sell-out shows in Hyde Park, followed by her two-year Weekends With Adele residency in Las Vegas and a ten-night residency at a purpose-built stadium in Munich.
Now it is clear the mum-of-one is trying to soak up some British culture while she is here.

Fans have also claimed Adele was in the audience at a production of Romeo & Juliet in London’s West End on Friday night.
In July 2024, Adele revealed she planned to take a break after her run of Sin City shows.
She said: “I don’t have any plans for new music at all.
“I want a big break after all this and I think I want to do other creative things just for a little while.”
But in February, she flew to Rome for her acting debut in Tom Ford’s upcoming historical drama Cry To Heaven, based on Anne Rice’s 1982 novel of the same name.
She spent several weeks there and will appear opposite Hollywood heavyweights including Colin Firth, Julianne Moore, Nicholas Hoult and Thandiwe Newton.
Two months later, The Sun revealed she was being courted to record a single for the soundtrack.

But although work has brought her back to the UK, it looks unlikely that a move is on the cards.
The following year Adele talked about how she would find it tough to move back to the UK.
The singer, who now only occasionally returns to London, explained: “I get really bad seasonal depression, so the weather is good for me here.
“It is strange sometimes, because I’m very British. Because it’s a bit harder for me to go out nowadays, what I love the most about LA is everyone goes to each other’s houses. I like that.
“And I actually have made a lot of really great core friends. I didn’t think I’d ever have a real friend group here. I don’t want a bunch of celebrities being my friends — well, only celebrities.
“And my friends are actually from LA, Before I moved here, I’d never met one person who was from LA.
“They’re not famous and they’re great. And having a kid at school, I’ve got great mum friends. I do like it.”
Adele’s 21 was her second hit albumCredit: Handout30 is the fourth studio album by Adele
The same year, she had an emotional exchange with British actor and presenter James Corden on his final Carpool Karaoke segment on The Late Late Show, before he moved back to the UK.
James said: “It’s been a brilliant adventure but I’m just so certain it’s time for us as a family, with people getting older, people that we miss, to go home.”
A teary Adele responded: “I know. I’m just not ready to come back yet, otherwise I would come back with you.”

She also said she likes being left alone in LA, adding: “For anyone that has never been to LA, you assume it would be the opposite. But there are so many famous people here that they don’t waste their time,” she said.
“I really miss London, but I miss the London from before all of this happened in my life.”
Since releasing her debut album 19 in 2008, Adele has become one of the 21st century’s best-selling artists, and won 16 Grammys.
Her second album 21 racked up sales of 57million, while 30 sold 261,000 copies in its first week to become the fastest-selling album in four years.
Now the pressure is on for Adele to continue her streak of success.
Having named her first four albums after the ages she was when she wrote them — 19, 21, 25 and 30 — it remains to be seen whether her next record will be called 38, her age now.
When 25 came out, Adele said: “I think this will be my last age one.
“I’m sure I’m wrong with this but I feel there’s been a massive change in me in the last couple of years.”
She later decided to name her fourth album after the age she was when she got divorced, and reflected on the future of her titles in an interview at the time.
Adele said: “I am just like everyone else in the world. I can change my mind. And I haven’t got to stay true to something that I’ve said — you know, I think the age thing is a bloody good idea. And so I want to keep going with (the titles). Or I might not.”
Our music insider added: “Adele feels the pressure with her music and won’t rush anything out if it’s not up to scratch with her back catalogue.
“She has been writing for a while now but she is taking her time with it.
“She knows there are always grand expectations and she is determined to only return when the music is the best it can be.”

But he was told he would only be allowed in if he removed his wig and orange jacket, similar to one Copacabana hit-maker Barry, 83, has worn on stage.
Wayne, who has a Manilow tribute act called Celebrating Barry, said: “I was humiliated.
“It’s a wig I wear partly because I’ve got no hair.”
Wayne, from Stourbridge, West Mids, watched the show on Saturday at Liverpool’s M&S Bank Arena with pal Janet Martin, 54, a backing singer in the tribute act.

Teddy explained: “He’s crushing it at, like, 23. If they would have gave me that at 23, I would have sent that straight up my nose.
“Thank God it happened to me at the time it did and I’m capable of understanding this and taking it seriously.
“I’d have probably been so terrible about it. I’d have spun out immediately if I’d been given that at such a young age.”
Since then though, Teddy’s had further hits with The Door and Bad Dreams, but doesn’t let success get to his head.
He said: “I try not to hang up my diamond or platinum records in my house, because I feel like I’ll just be looking at them and be like, ‘My best days are behind me,’ or something.
“So I try just to keep my head down and keep rocking.”
Asked if they’re in storage, he confessed: “A lot of them I’ve given to my family on Christmas. It saves me a little money there too.
“You know, my aunt’s got The Door gold record from a year ago.”

The Love Island host sizzled as she fronted the dating show’s ITV2 spin-off Aftersun in the slinky number.
Maya, who previously dated grime star Stormzy, split from her Manchester City footballer boyfriend Ruben Dias in April after 18 months together.
But she clearly isn’t moping around, and has been on holiday in Ibiza, where she flaunted her curves in a tiny bikini.
Maya said of the break-up: “I’m an all-or-nothing girl, I don’t casually date, so yes, I will love loudly or not at all – and if it ends, it ends. I decided a long time ago not to base my life decisions on public opinions.”
Sounds like she’s got the dating game sussed.

JACK WHITEHALL has apologised to Becky Hill for calling her a “Wetherspoons Whitney”, claiming the pair “had a chuckle” about his dig – despite her writing diss track Daddy’s Range Rover about him.
I revealed last month how Becky has penned the song all about him making her the butt of a joke while he hosted the 2024 Brits.
Jack says: “I think my biggest surprise is it’s taken so long for some- one to write a diss track about me. I apologised when I saw her.”
Becky doesn’t sound like she sees the funny side, however – blasting the “privately educated nepo baby”.

Holidaying with friends, she mused: “Whatever will chapter 35 bring?”
Well, it is unlikely to bring a reunion with her estranged former bandmates.
Jesy was not a guest at Perrie Edwards’ wedding to Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain in Portugal over the weekend, after Perrie said Jesy made her “blood boil” by claiming she felt unsupported during a mental health crisis.

LEAH LETS LOOSE IN IBIZA

ENGLAND women’s football captain Leah Williamson made the most of her break from the game by enjoying a wild girls’ trip to Ibiza.
I’m told the Arsenal player let her hair down at the White Isle’s most legendary club Pikes last week.
Then on Friday night she let loose at Calvin Harris’ residency at superclub Ushuaia, where she partied with pals and her model girlfriend Elle Smith.
One onlooker told me: “Leah was having a great time doing shots with her mates – she was really living her best life.”
A calf injury meant she was ruled out of the last Lionesses squad, and it sounds like she is still feeling the effects as Leah wasn’t dancing as much as her mates.
But I reckon a blow-out in Ibiza might be just what she needs before getting her head back in the game.

JLS star Aston Merrygold reckons he could have the next Justin Bieber on his hands in the form of his talented eldest son.
He revealed that eight-year-old Grayson Jax is already showing serious star potential.
The Beat Again singer said: “My oldest is full-on – he’s ready, he wants to do everything. He’s so much better than I ever was. Little Justin Bieber on the way.”
While fans wait to see if another Merrygold is about to hit the charts, Aston is juggling life as a musician with being a hands-on dad to his three children and setting a good example.
The singer has teamed up with Bupa Dental Care to launch the kids’ story and audiobook The Dentist’s Apprentice, aimed at helping youngsters overcome fears over check-ups on their teeth.
Aston said: “The whole premise is about trying to get rid of dental anxiety that young people have.
“Having all that pent-up anxious energy is not healthy for anyone. The dentist is about check-ups, it’s about prevention.”
Aston will soon be back on the road with JLS for their UK tour.
They are playing eight more shows, ending in Derby on August 29.
AS the biggest heart-throb on the planet, Harry Styles is the last person you’d expect to be ringing in New Year alone.
But the pop superstar has revealed how he “shut out” the world after struggling to live up to the “perfect” image his fans projected on to him.

In a candid new interview, the 32-year-old, who kicked off a record-breaking 12-night run at Wembley Stadium on Friday, said: “I was supposed to spend New Year’s with friends and I landed in Italy and felt really unwell, so I just went home.
“And I woke up and I had this kind of beautiful New Year’s by myself. I was feeling the most alone I’d felt in a really long time, but in the most beautiful way. I didn’t feel lonely at all.”
Harry added that he became a “hermit” after his last tour ended in 2023.
Flying into Italy for a “quiet time”, he rejected all invites as he recuperated from the gruelling Love On Tour series of live shows.
In an interview on the Q With Tom Power podcast, Harry said: “I was just feeling myself kind of shut out from a lot of the world.
“I think I got used to saying no to invites from friends and maybe a weekend trip or a birthday party or something.
“I just got used to, you know, if I have a week at home, I don’t want to go somewhere else for three days. I just want to stay home.
“And when I got to Italy and was in this quiet place, I felt like, ‘OK, if I’m going to spend all this time out here and I’m going to keep saying no to everything, I’m just going to shut myself off from the world’.”

Harry released his latest album — Kiss All The Time. Disco Occasionally — in March and it immediately shot to No1 in the charts.
And his Together, Together tour is currently making history at London’s Wembley.
But the As It Was singer admits that he struggled to live up to his fans’ adoring perception of him, saying: “I had this relationship with my own image where people had this projected version of me that was perfect.
“And when the standard you hold yourself to is this perfect person, it’s impossible not to feel like you’re falling short.”
He confessed that any criticism could take a devastating toll, saying: “If you don’t feel great about yourself and someone says you’re terrible, it’s like the claw is in and it’s ripping you.
“But if you have a more solid sense of yourself, you can hear those things and it doesn’t destroy you in the same way.”
It is a frank admission from a man who has conquered the world of pop, and America, after spending half his life in the glare of the global spotlight.
Harry was 16 when he stepped on to The X Factor stage in 2010, where music mastermind Simon Cowell grouped him with four other hopefuls to form One Direction.
What followed was global hysteria. And as the breakout star of the record-breaking boy band, Harry was propelled from a quiet Cheshire upbringing into a whirlwind of stadium tours and platinum records.
He then defied the odds to build a critically acclaimed solo career, with hits such as Watermelon Sugar, and a £235million fortune, according to the Sunday Times Rich List.
But during his period of isolation in Italy, Harry realised that avoiding the downsides of global fame also meant missing the best parts of life.
He added: “You can sit at home and think it’s hard for me to do these things — people are looking at me, taking pictures. But when you shut out those things that might be negative, you also shut out a ton of positive things.
Harry added that he became a ‘hermit’ after his last tour ended in 2023Credit: GettyHarry also said that he has spent the past two years learning to love himself and accept that he can make mistakesCredit: Getty
“If you think it’s hard to go to a bar and hang out with friends because people might act a certain way, there are also incredible people you could meet in that bar that you’re shutting out.”
Taking his own advice and stepping back into the world clearly paid off.
It was during this period that Harry met his fiancée, US actress Zoe Kravitz.
The couple, who began dating in late 2025, are reportedly planning a small wedding in London this winter.
Harry also said that he has spent the past two years learning to love himself and accept that he can make mistakes.
He said: “I’m still figuring a bunch of stuff out and it’s OK to have a little self-compassion around making mistakes. For a long time, I struggled to admit when I’d made a mistake because the reward when you meet people’s expectations is so loud and shiny.”
Ultimately, Harry believes that taking a step back from the spotlight saved him.
He reflected: “Having time to sit at home and be bored and really look at the emotions I was feeling allowed me to lean into them instead of being afraid of them.
“And it means I’m now in a much healthier place than I was last time I was putting music out.”
Now back on the road, he wants his latest dance-pop record to be less about his personal life and more about his fans’ experiences.
He said: “With this record, I want the listener in the front seat and I’m in the seat behind you.
“It’s not really about me or what clubs I’m going to or who I’m hanging out with — it’s about you having your own experience.”
He smashes first of historic 12 nights
EVER the charismatic charmer, Harry pranced around the stage with mammoth energy and gusto on the opening night of his record-breaking, 12-night, homecoming residency at Wembley.
He even laid on a special treat for his mum Anne Twist, with her favourite singer, Shania Twain as his support act.
The country music legend’s vocals were flawless and she warmed the crowd up well with her hits Man! I Feel Like A Woman! and That Don’t Impress Me Much.
But the gig, which marks the release of Harry’s fourth album – the eccentrically-titled Kiss All the Time. Disco, Occasionally – was all about the pop heart-throb.
He has a relaxed air about him now. It is far from his first rodeo, yet performing for 80,000 fans is no mean feat.
Harry was feeling the love and in a grateful mood, twice referencing X Factor – the show which catapulted him to global fame – and his family, who were watching from the crowd.
He said: “Just outside of this building 16 years ago, my sister brought me to London for the very first time for my X Factor audition.
“So driving here today, and anytime I come through Wembley, means so much to me. It was in that building that I was put into a band, my sister is here tonight. It means a lot to be here tonight.”
He added: “My mum entered me into the X Factor without me knowing and I wouldn’t be here today if she hadn’t done that, so thank you so much. You changed my life, all of you, so thank you so, so much.”
Harry’s devoted fans performed their own dance routines to his songs, above, which involved lying on the ground in formation to the joyful Fine Line and doing a mass conga to the electric Treat People With Kindness.
One thing’s for sure, Harry’s certainly at home on stage . . .
Ariana risk for musical

RUMOURS are sweeping theatreland that Ariana Grande is set to drop out of musical Sunday In The Park With George.
The singer was due to appear opposite her Wicked co-star Jonathan Bailey at London’s Barbican Centre next summer, but ticket sales have been delayed until autumn.
I’m told that bosses have also met with actresses who could step in to replace Ariana, who last week kicked off her energetic Eternal Sunshine Tour.
A source said: “Ariana has a lot on her plate and there are concerns she is over-subscribed.
“It’s too risky to start flogging tickets until it’s all locked down. It will be a demanding production with eight shows a week.”
In the last few years, Ariana has transformed herself into a fully-fledged actress as Glinda in the Wicked films.
She will appear in the 13th series of American Horror Story and will voice a character in the 2028 animation Oh, The Places You’ll Go!.
Ariana, whose tour includes a ten-night residency at London’s O2 Arena in August, said: “I’m very excited to do this small tour. But I think it might not happen again for a long, long time.”
I hope we do get to see her treading the boards . . .

Isle Of Wight Festival headliner Lewis CapaldiCredit: Getty
THE Isle of Wight Festival kicks off on Thursday with some surprises in store.
As well as headliners Calvin Harris, The Cure and Lewis Capaldi, chief John Giddings says: “We’ve introduced new areas, the Last Chance Saloon, our country music destination, and new onsite pub Wild Horses.”
And it’s a good job, too, as unlike any other gift experience you’ve ever been to, you will be pushed to your absolute limit.
I’m greeted by a hearty full English, before a safety briefing, and then it’s helmets on and straight to my first track session.
Everyone is placed in small teams, and all the sessions are professionally timed so you have a crack at a fastest-lap trophy.
The cars are staggering.
My favourites were the McLaren Artura GT4 and Ginetta G56 GTA – both full-blown race cars with slicks and roll cage.
But I never felt too intimidated once on track, thanks to the brilliant instructors.
They gave me immediate feedback over the helmet intercom, and there’s dual controls to help get you out of trouble.
You build up steadily and your last lap should always be your fastest, plus the 596bhp McLaren boasts in-car video and telemetry so I could analyse my quickest time.
We were hitting 135mph on the short back straight, with the instructor telling me precisely when to stamp on the brakes before slicing towards the apex.
The Ginetta felt like a touring car race, raucously good fun and forgiving.
But the real “heart in your mouth” stuff comes on the West Circuit.
The Palmer JP-LM is a sports prototype inspired by the 200mph racers at Le Mans.
It will pull 2.5g in the corners and sap tears from your eyes under braking.
Listen to your instructor carefully, though – as next time you’re out, it’s solo.
It’s truly mind-blowing to think that, in a land of health-and-safety trigger warnings these days, they will squeeze you into a Formula 3000 single-seater.
There’s no instructor, just pure driving in your own mini-Ayrton Senna nirvana.
You also get taster laps in a new 650bhp Hyundai IONIQ 5 N – that alone would be a £250 experience day.
And I still haven’t finished yet.
There’s a full off-road course, where I get to pilot a Defender 90 over obstacles I couldn’t walk up in crampons.
The all-inclusive day means breakfast, refreshments, lunch and afternoon tea – plus the driving experiences – are all part of the package.
I also get a photo taken alongside the McLaren, and in-car video of my fastest laps in the GT4 and F3000.
While it might not exactly be cheap, if you tried to replicate it independently it would cost you twice as much – and the driver coaching alone is priceless.

I HAVE just stumbled upon Tenerife’s best-kept secret.
Instead of packed resorts teeming with Brits, I’m strolling across lush, undisturbed landscapes that stretch out for miles and quiet coves where the golden sands remain relatively untrodden.

And while some parts of the Canary isle are blisteringly hot in summer, here, temperatures are milder all year round.
That’s why the destination got its nickname the Island of Eternal Spring.
This is the north of Tenerife, a less commercialised area that’s so different from the south, it’ll have you questioning whether you’re even in Tenerife at all.
Instead of heaving crowds and sunbed-hoggers, hotels have more of a boutique feel to them, while the beaches are peaceful.
My family and I were staying at the 4* Precise Resort, perfectly positioned atop a cliff over the Atlantic, on the edge of the pretty seaside town of Puerto de la Cruz.
Unlike some of the mega resorts down south, this place felt relaxed and sophisticated — with an airy lobby designed like an open Spanish courtyard, traditional wood-panelled ceilings and marble floors.
Rooms had a relaxed feel to them, too — pristine, clean and spacious with soft boho decor.
The hotel has the Atlantic on one side and mountain views on the other, but we opted for a balcony room with sea view so we could listen to waves washing against the rocks and soak up glorious sunrises and sunsets.

Along with all the usuals, such as fancy-smelling toiletries, rooms come with slippers, flip-flops and an eco-friendly jute beach bag which guests can keep afterwards.
The truly fabulous thing about the Precise Resort, though, is that it’s got all the elements of a luxury resort and more.
The palm tree-lined area, overlooking the ocean, is the perfect spot for a little sunbathing, with plenty of comfy loungers for everyone — so no stress about sunbed battles.
Beyond the main swimming pool is a newly built spa, next to a more secluded peaceful outdoor area featuring a hot tub, saunas and wooden cabanas with stunning sea views.
The hotel is also surrounded by 40,000sqm of sub-tropical gardens, with paths that meander past ponds and even a waterfall.
We were instantly hooked after trying padel for the first time, and the following morning were able to stretch our tired muscles with an early yoga session.
Of course, you’ll need fuel if you’re exerting all that energy. And let me tell you, the hotel’s La Bodega restaurant did not disappoint.
Skilled chefs serve up a seasonal blend of delightful Canary Island and Mediterranean dishesCredit: SuppliedThe truly fabulous thing about the Precise Resort is that it’s got all the elements of a luxury resort and moreCredit: Supplied
With skilled chefs serving up a seasonal blend of delightful Canary Island and Mediterranean dishes, the buffet felt like a treat every night.
Dinner highlights included umami sea bass and Iberian pork cheek.
This is also where breakfasts are served each morning, with a plentiful buffet spread that will keep even the fussiest eaters happy.
If you’re after just a drink or a bite for lunch, the outdoor Cocoloco bar by the main and children’s pools operates during both the day and evening — make sure to try the burrata salad and club sandwich.
Or, for a change of scenery, the hotel runs a complimentary shuttle bus to the centre of Puerto de la Cruz, where you’ll find a flurry of easy-going bars and restaurants serving up authentic local grub.
As for entertainment, there’s plenty of that nearby, too. Five minutes from the resort is Loro Parque Zoo, home to a wide variety of animals including killer whales and dolphins.
We couldn’t resist a visit to the beautiful old town of La Orotava either — the bus is cheap and easy or the hotel will call you a taxi.
Here, we wandered among the beautiful colonial buildings, some with ornate wooden balconies, and enjoyed popping in to the independent shops selling everything from clothes and souvenirs to local food.
If you’re a keen rambler, head to the Orotava Valley, which leads from the sea to the mighty Mount Teide — but you’ll need to book the summit-trail treks in advance.
It’s a nature lover’s paradise, although the 12,188ft climb to the mountain’s peak may leave you feeling a little knackered.
Luckily, there’s several pools and an ice-cold pint waiting for you back at the resort.
VISIT: Tenerife
GETTING/STAYING THERE: Seven nights’ B&B at the 4H Precise Resort is from £562pp including return flights from Luton on June 16, 10kg hand luggage, 22kg hold luggage and transfers.
Barry Keoghan’s new girlfriend is Danica Hall, who pals describe as ‘down-to-earth’Credit: SplashBarry has stepped back into the limelight with a new woman on his armCredit: Splash
But last week, Dublin-born Barry stepped back into the limelight with a new woman on his arm.
And far from being a global superstar, she’s a down-to-earth Brit.
“Barry’s new girlfriend is Danica Hall,” a friend tells The Sun. “Compared to Sabrina she couldn’t be more low key.
“She was born in Staffordshire and moved to London a few years ago. She was working for a cosmetic surgery company on Harley Street.
“Danica — or Neeka as her mates call her — is well-connected through her work. She met Barry through mates and they started talking. It evolved into a romance and they’ve both been totally smitten.”
Saltburn and Peaky Blinders star Barry, 33, and Danica, 29, were photographed together for the first time last week. They were seen kissing while picking up coffees on a relaxed holiday in Barcelona.
Friends say the pair have been together officially for weeks, with those close to Barry telling The Sun that Neeka reminds them of Alyson Kierans, the mother of his three-year-old son Brando.
The 39-year-old dated Barry from 2021 to July 2023, five months before he was first linked to Sabrina.
“Alyson was a dental nurse when she met Barry,” a pal explains.
“She didn’t court the spotlight then and she certainly doesn’t now.
“Her relationship with Barry may be over but they will share their son forever. She is a devoted mother and caring for Brando is her priority.
“That is something Barry really values in a partner. That sense of ‘normalness’ he had with Alyson, who wasn’t bothered about living a public life, is what his friends think he has found again in Neeka.”
Barry’s new romance is a stark contrast to the one he had with American singer Sabrina, 27.
They became one of 2024’s biggest It couples, with loved-up appearances at Coachella and the Met Gala.
Barry was even rolled out as part of Sabrina’s album campaign for Short N’ Sweet, appearing in the music video for her single Please, Please, Please.
“Neeka is totally in sync with Barry,” a friend explains. “When their relationship got more serious, she deleted all of her social media profiles, even her LinkedIn.

“She gets that he wants to live a quiet life and she is totally down with that.”
Those close to Barry also say that he has never been happier.
A pal adds: “Career- wise, Barry is going from strength to strength.
“The Beatles biopics will be intense from next year, with promotion all over the globe and Barry knows his feet won’t touch the ground.
“With Neeka, he’s been able to spend time doing things he loves. Working hard, living a quiet life and hanging out with his mates.”
When Barry split from Sabrina after a year, a source cited their busy workloads. But then all hell broke loose.
Social media trolls and hardline Sabrina fans accused him of cheating.
The unfounded claims were fuelled further by a TikTok personality called Breckie Hill, who was linked to Barry on a gossip website. In a statement posted just days after his split was made public, Barry wrote: “I can only sit and take so much. I deactivated my account because I can no longer let this stuff distract from my family and my work.

“The messages I have received — no person should ever have to read them.
“Absolute lies, hatred, disgusting commentary about my appearance, character, how I am as a parent and every other inhumane thing you can imagine.”
Those close to Barry said it was comments about his late mother, who died of a heroin overdose when he was 12, that hurt the most.
The star, who spent his formative years in and out of the care system in Ireland, said of his background: “She was just unable to look after us.
“My father wasn’t there and so we got taken into care.
“That kind of thing still haunts me. You don’t forget waiting on the social worker’s steps and waiting for a new family to come and play with you. You ask: why you?”
In his heartfelt statement announcing he was leaving social media, Barry also described the messages sent to him.
He wrote: “Talking about how I was a heroin baby and how I grew up, and dragging my dear mother into it. Knocking on my granny’s door. Sitting outside my baby boy’s house intimidating them. That’s crossing a line.”

But just four months after he bid a public retreat, Barry was unveiled as one of the new Fab Four for Sam Mendes’ Beatles biopics.
Insiders revealed that he threw himself into the work alongside Paul Mescal, Harris Dickinson and Joseph Quinn ahead of filming, which started production earlier this year.
He was rarely seen or gave interviews, and kept a low profile.
But last August, he hit the headlines again after Sabrina dropped her album Man’s Best Friend, which once again led to frenzied speculation that some of the songs were about him.
She even remade the video for Please, Please, Please, with the new version showing Barry’s character tied up in the boot of her car.
Sabrina refused to shut down allegations of cheating and said of her album: “I write songs about exactly how I feel, so I guess I can’t be surprised that people are interested in who and what those songs are about.”
In March this year, Barry told how he was still getting abuse online. He said: “There’s a lot of hate online. There’s a lot of abuse of how I look, and it’s kind of past the point of, ‘Everyone goes through that’.
“And everyone does, but it’s made me shy away.
Danica is said to be nothing like Barry’s previous girlfriend Sabrina CarpenterCredit: SplashThose close to Barry insist he will not be hard-launching his romance with DanicaCredit: Splash
“It’s made me really go inside myself, not want to attend places, not want to go outside.
“And I say this being absolute pure and honest to you. It’s becoming a problem.”
The following month he addressed the backlash around Sabrina, saying: “There was a narrative out there that was never really sort of even spoken on — a narrative that’s not true — and I never confirmed or said anything about it. And I just disappeared.
“I’m not asking for people to become my fans and like me because that’s not normal.
“I’m asking for people to stop assuming and also stop jumping on this narrative and attacking me and dragging me down in any way you can. I’m not saying this for pity. Why is it cool to hop on and beat someone up?”
Now, those close to Barry insist he will not be hard-launching his romance with Danica.
A friend added: “He has been through a high- profile romance, he’s not in a hurry to go back.
Madonna has landed a host of A-listers to feature in cameos on her new music filmCredit: YouTubeKate Moss in the 13-minute Confessions IICredit: YouTube
The film features six songs from her upcoming album.
During the one unreleased track, Danceteria, the singer slinks through a bathroom where Chelsea football aces Cole Palmer and Joao Pedro are at the urinal, while Richard E. Grant, Gwendoline Christie, Shygirl, Kate and Benedict rave in the toilet disco.
Sabrina Carpenter, who teamed up with Madge on the record’s lead single, the recently released Bring Your Love, also has a starring role.
The superstar’s daughter, Lourdes Leon, is in there too.
Other new tracks in the film are I Feel So Free, Good For The Soul, One Step Away and Read My Lips.
I first told in March how the superstar had enlisted her showbiz pals to be part of a four-day shoot at a West London studio for the video — and now she has proved it was worth the wait.
Her Confessions II collection is set to be released on July 3 — 21 years after her original Confessions On A Dancefloor album came out.

I revealed at the weekend that she is now eyeing up plans for potential concerts to celebrate the record’s release — but you are unlikely to see her follow in other stars’ footsteps with a Las Vegas residency.
Name-checking a state-of-the-art 20,000-capacity arena in Paradise,
Nevada, she said, during a Q&A: “Sphere seems cool, but I don’t want to wake up and look at Vegas every day.”
And she’s ready for fans to ditch their phones at any future gigs. She added: “Put your phones down, go out, and connect with people.

ABBA have hatched a scheme to take Mamma Mia! The Party to Manchester after it proved a hit in Stockholm and London.
Plans for a new entertainment venue next to the city’s Etihad Stadium have been recommended for approval by council planners.
The three-storey venue, set to be built beside Man City’s new North Stand and close to the Co-op Live, would offer a theatrical dining experience for up to 600 guests.
City have teamed up with entertainment giant Pophouse – founded by Abba’s Bjorn Ulvaeus – for the project, with bosses saying the city’s rich music heritage made it the perfect home for the production.
Pophouse chief executive Jessica Koravos said: “Manchester is known for its innovation in music and entertainment and we cannot think of anywhere better to bring one of the world’s most popular and ground breaking theatrical productions.”

TRAITORS winner Stephen Libby fancies himself as the next Andrew Lloyd Webber.
I can reveal the Scottish fashionista has penned a musical that he hopes to bring to the West End in the not-too-distant future.
A source said: “Stephen has the musical all written and ready to go.
“He has always dreamed of his work making it to the West End.
“With The Traitors opening so many doors – both financially and in terms of connections – he feels like the time could be now.
“He’s been having various meetings and things are looking promising.”
Stephen and fellow Traitors winner Rachel Duffy split the hit BBC show’s £95,750 prize money earlier this year.
Since then he has been a regular on the showbiz circuit in London and even landed an ad hoc hosting job on ITV’s This Morning.
The Irish singer released Dinner Party on Friday and it is currently in the lead to top the charts, after Sir Paul McCartney claimed pole position last week with The Boys Of Dungeon Lane.

The Arsenal legend has teamed up with EE to front its new Yes Boys campaign.
The initiative aims to shine a light on the negative online influences shaping boys’ attitudes both on and off the pitch.
It comes as new data reveals 42 per cent of boys aged 11 to 16 encounter outdated phrases like “men shouldn’t show emotion” and “boys need to toughen up” every week.
Progress has been made over the years, but clearly there is still a long way to go.
DOLLS ASH: MY DANCE TRAUMA
Ashley Roberts has admitted she was so burned out when the group split in 2010 that even seeing people dance would make her cryCredit: Instagram
PUSSYCAT DOLLS star Ashley Roberts has admitted she was so burned out when the group split in 2010 that even seeing people dance would make her cry.
The girls were known for their intense, choreographed routines but Ashley couldn’t bear to bust any moves after the break-up because of the trauma wrapped up in the group’s original run.
She said: “It was absolutely heartbreaking. I couldn’t even actually watch dancing because I would just be bursting into tears.
“When it first became my job, I was like, ‘Well, this is epic’.
“But then it got wrapped up in this bubble of a major pop group that was a global success.
“I got a bit on the other side and I was like, ‘Well, who am I actually outside of this, right?’
“I just felt very lost, very disconnected to the one thing that actually made me feel like it was like the essence of life to me.
“I just didn’t really recognise myself.
“And it was a really, really tough time.”
Thankfully Ashley has since healed herself, as well as her relationship with performing, and has reunited with Nicole Scherzinger and Kimberly Wyatt for a tour here this autumn.
On how she feels to be back, she told Fearne Cotton on her Happy Place podcast: “Everybody’s like, ‘No, you’re in shape – you got this’.
“I’m like, ‘No, this is a whole other beast’.
“It’s like running a marathon in heels.
“We’re like, ‘Screw it’. You never know when we’re going to be able to do this again.
“We’ve got to just do it – we’ve got to say yes and just go for it.”
SAM SMITH mixed business with glamour by pairing a shirt and tie with an eye-catching gold corset.
The Stay With Me singer’s snap has been released for the first time as part of a book called The Elegance Of Time, celebrating the 60th edition of Switzerland’s Montreux Jazz Festival.
Sam played at the event – held annually near Lake Geneva – in 2023, and this photo, along with 150 other intimate portraits of artists including Raye, Lionel Richie, Benson Boone and Pulp, will be included in the book, which is out tomorrow.
BBC bosses splashed out on therapy for UK Eurovision act Look Mum No Computer after he came last in the contest and was ridiculed online.
The performer, whose real name is Sam Battle, said the fallout from his quirky entry Eins, Zwei, Drei is ongoing, so he is still seeing a counsellor.
Sam told The Euro Trip podcast: “There was some sort of therapy stuff. The BBC got me a therapist, which is amazing.
“I’ve never really had one before. They were very accommodating. In fact, I’ve still got the therapist because obviously the fallout is another thing. They don’t just leave you.”
Now Sam reckons the only way forward for the UK at Eurovision is to send a hard rock band.
He said: “We went for ‘very good sensible pop songs’ and then for something ‘a little bit left field’. Still didn’t quite work.
THE friction between Sir Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr in 1970 will be brought to life in the upcoming Beatles biopic.
But I can reveal there is tension among the two actors playing the pop legends, too.

Oscar-nominated Barry Keoghan is playing drummer Ringo, alongside Gladiator II star Paul Mescal as Macca.
Sources on the set of the film, directed by Sam Mendes and due for release in 2028, have noticed that the relationship between the two Irish actors has become strained.
One said: “Barry has been rubbing people up the wrong way.
“His timekeeping is not always up to scratch and he often references that he is a parent — despite not living with his son.
“He also brings his brother Eric on set as his assistant, which doesn’t always bring out the best in his character.
“Barry is professional and can bring out the best in any script.
“But he can test the boundaries off-camera.”
Paul and Ringo, the last surviving members of the band, clashed in 1970, shortly before the group split in April that year.
Paul was preparing to release his first solo album, McCartney, just a few weeks before The Beatles album Let It Be was due to come out.
His bandmates wrote him a letter asking him to delay it, and Ringo hand-delivered it to Paul’s home in London.
Paul, who is now close friends with Ringo, later admitted it was the only time he threw someone out of his house.
The new screen project is a series of four biographical films based on the lives and careers of each member of The Beatles.
Joseph Quinn is George Harrison in the movieCredit: 2026 CTMG, Inc., All Rights Reserved.Harris Dickinson is John Lennon in the new film
The four intersecting biopics, written by James Bond screenwriter Jez Butterworth, will tell the story of the group from their humble beginnings in Liverpool to becoming the biggest band on the planet.
Stranger Things’ Joseph Quinn will portray George Harrison and Harris Dickinson stars as John Lennon.
Earlier this week, Harris and co-star Paul went to the Primavera Sound festival in Barcelona, where they were filming.
Of the four films, Mendes explained: “Each one is told from the particular perspective of just one of the guys. This is a chance to understand them a little more deeply.”
Even so, it sounds like there’s another meaty story behind the camera.

The pair, who first dated in 2024, have been spotted together in London.
It comes as Reza’s ex Ruby Adler announced her engagement to multi-millionaire Luxe Listings Sydney star Gavin Rubinstein after just a year of dating.
An insider said: “Reza and Bella split due to the pressures of filming Made In Chelsea. But now they’re taking a break from the show, they’ve reconnected.
“Reza always wanted to give the relationship another chance. With Ruby out of the picture, there’s nothing to stop them.”
Hopefully it’ll be second time lucky for these two.

CHRISTINA AGUILERA has cast three young stars to share the lead role in her upcoming production of Burlesque The Musical.
British newcomers Natalia Jacques and Gracie O’Brien will portray Ali, the waitress-turned-dancer played by Christina in the 2010 movie.
American Cecilia Petrush will also star in the role.
Writer and director Steven Antin said: “When Christina brought Ali to life in the film, she created something truly iconic.
“Bringing Burlesque from screen to stage is about honouring that legacy. These three exceptional actresses step into those heels not to imitate Christina, but to continue the legacy she began.”

Netflix boosts brand

NETFLIX has added rape- accused Russell Brand’s hit film St Trinian’s on to the streaming service.
The actor and comedian starred in the 2007 movie about rebellious schoolgirls alongside Colin Firth and Rupert Everett.
Netflix added the flick under “comedies” last month.
Brand starred as crook Flash Harry who taught the schoolgirls about “the seven laws of crime”.
He is accused of three rapes, three sex assaults and an indecent assault on six women from 1999 to 2009.
His trial at Southwark Crown Court is due to start in October and is expected to take up to eight weeks.
The former TV and radio presenter denies all charges against him.
Rupert, who played headmistress Camilla Fritton in the film, claimed Brand behaved “perfectly well” on set.
He said: “There were a lot of beautiful women on St Trinian’s and there was never any scandal to do with Russell Brand.”

LOVE Island star Sean Fitzgerald has uncovered a perfect match in Lola Deal, according to his sister.
Gaelic footballer Sean, who is in a couple with former police detective Lola, sealed their romance with a kiss at the villa in Majorca earlier this week.
The hunk’s sister Katie revealed: “I absolutely adore Lola.
“She is gorgeous, so sweet, kind, and the smile she puts on Sean’s face is really nice to see.
“As of right now in the villa, I think Lola is best suited to him.”
She said of her brother: “I would just like to see more of his goofy side that we all see at home.”

THEY rose to fame in the late Nineties wearing double denim – but Irish pop band B*Witched have revealed that the outfits in their 1998 hit video C’est La Vie were not actually planned.
Twin sisters Edele and Keavy Lynch, who supported their brother Shane and his Boyzone bandmates last night, sat down with Biz on Sunday’s Emily ahead of their performance at London’s Emirates Stadium.
Edele said: “The day before we were doing the C’est La Vie video, our clothes got stolen from the record company and they never knew where they went.
“So in a panic they ended up going to Levi’s in the morning to just grab some clothes.”
She added: “I still have my outfit from the 1998 tour and I still fit into it. I don’t know if that is a good thing or a bad thing at this point. My eldest daughter borrows stuff all the time and I’m always coming across it.
“In the winter she wears this white fluffy jacket which I wore for the To You I Belong video.”
The twins, along with bandmates Sinead O’Carroll and Lindsay Armmaou, released their single Firefly on Friday ahead of an EP in August – but as they gear up for their 30th anniversary, they don’t plan on hanging up their jeans any time soon.
Edele explained: “We’ve realised that if we turn up without denim, we might as well not sing.”
Asked about the possibility of being in a campaign with Levi’s, the singer said: “I think they are missing a trick.”

KATE MOSS has made her debut as an artist this week by unveiling her first watercolour for sale.
The supermodel painted a green and blue seahorse, left, which is being shown alongside new pieces by Rolling Stone bandmates Ronnie Wood and Keith Richards, Hollywood actress Sharon Stone and Guns N’ Roses legend Slash.
The collection is being auctioned online to raise funds for Doodle Drop For Coral, a new campaign led by Project Zero, the ocean conservation charity co-founded by Ronnie’s son TYRONE WOOD.
Kate has signed her seahorse by hand, writing: “Love, Kate Moss”, alongside a tiny heart.
The current bid stands at £285.
A nude portrait of Kate was painted by the late British artist Lucian Freud in 2002. It sold for £3.5million.
Tyrone told me: “Kate’s seahorse is one of those pieces that makes you smile.”

The Great British Bake Off judge, left, said: “I’m a great believer in butter. I just eat what I want.
“I’m not punish-ing myself trying to look like a model. I just waddle over and enjoy myself.”
Speaking at London’s Japanese restaurant Nobu, Nigella insisted she will not jump on the tweakment bandwagon, adding: “Cosmetic work is a tyranny. I just think there’s no point.”

But yesterday morning graffiti had also appeared on walls in the picturesque Piazza Croce dei Vespri.
The square and adjoining Piazza Sant’Anna have been sealed off for the first of three days of celebrations as One Kiss star Dua, 30, and actor Callum Turner, 36, mark their nuptials.
They officially married in London last weekend before flying to Italy this week.
Guests including singer Charli XCX and music producer Mark Ronson were in Palermo for drinks last night.
Yesterday, it emerged Dua has paid £5,000 to residents.
The gesture is understood to compensate locals whose apartments overlook the area for parking problems.
But a marble column in the centre had last night not been cleaned of old foul-mouthed graffiti complaining of an unpaid debt.
A source said: “It doesn’t really match the idyllic love story vibe that Dua seems to be going for.”

Dua, Callum and guests have been staying at the five star Villa Igiea hotel overlooking Palermo’s marina.
The couple got a huge cheer and applause as they arrived at their party last night, with Dua dazzling in a halterneck backless dress.
Callum wore a casual suit and could not resist giving his new wife a cheeky squeeze of her bum, left.
The square was decked out with classic Italian cars and an outdoor cocktail bar.
Earlier, police moved on locals in Piazza Sant’Anna.
One resident said of the cops’ action: “It all seems a bit over the top.
“We just wanted to see Dua Lipa and wish her well.”
DISGRACED reality TV star Stephen Bear has set up a market stall selling £2 smoothies with his pregnant teenage wife.
Bear, 36, was spotted on Sunday flogging fruit juice in Walthamstow, north-east London, with his Brazilian missus Miami, 19.

The former Ex on the Beach cast member was sentenced in March 2023 to 21 months in prison for uploading CCTV footage of himself having sex with ex-girlfriend Georgia Harrison, 31, to his OnlyFans account without consent.
An eyewitness who saw the Walthamstow-born sex offender, who won the 18th series of Celebrity Big Brother in 2016, said: “I was walking past the market at about 1pm on Sunday and spotted him and recognised him from Ex on the Beach.
“He had set up one of those folding tables and someone stopped and asked him for a selfie.
“By the time I went back that way around an hour later they had gone.
“They were doing different flavours like strawberry and mango, putting the fruit in a nutribullet blender and selling them for just £2 in those plastic cups with the round lid on the top.
“It’s hard to think he’s even making a profit at that price, fruit is so expensive at the moment.”
Bear announced his intention to set up a stall in the market in a social media video posted three weeks ago.
But he said it would likely be after he makes his boxing debut on July 25. He is due to fight Andy “The Silencer” Lee at York Hall in Bethnal Green, east London.
In the clip posted to his TikTok on May 10, in which he can be seen being driven by his brother Rob, Bear said: “We’ve got some breaking news guys.
“Me and Rob’s decided we’re going to inquire and get a market stall down Walthamstow market.
“We’re thinking you don’t want to travel far to sell your bits and pieces, and if you never need to store anything, the house is, like, five minutes away from Walthamstow market.
“So send me a DM, what you think we should sell on our stall and then we’re going to inquire.

“Probably going to be after my boxing match, July 25, I’m going to get that out of the way first.”
After Rob suggested selling T-shirts or fruit and veg, Bear said: “I think if you’re holding fruit and veg, it’s going to go off, so we’re not going to do that.
“But we’re going sell something out of the ordinary.
“Send us a DM, what you think we should sell on our market stall.”

Bear married then 18-year-old Miami in her native Brazil in July 2025, around 18 months after he was released from HMP Brixton.
The couple – who post X-rated content together – announced in March that they are expecting their first child.
Bear, who served 10 and a half months of his sentence, was ordered to pay his former Love Island and The Only Way is Essex star ex Georgia £207,900 in civil damages.
In March 2024, Georgia later said that she had received “not one penny” of it or the £212,515 she was owed for lawyers’ fees.
Bear was then ordered to pay HM Treasury the £22,305 he made in profits from subscribers after uploading the video and £5,000 in compensation to Georgia.
