EXCLUSIVE – boss of hit Disney+ show Rivals says plans are well underway for filming of Season three and he was able to discuss some big story ideas with Jilly before her sad death in 2025.

Rivals bosses have confirmed Season three is heading to Disney+ in 2027 – with more changes expected from the book’s storylines.

Fans of the hit series, based on Jilly Cooper’s Rutshire Chronicles novels, are eagerly awaiting episodes 7-12 of Season two which will launch on the streaming platform on November 11. And now it seems there won’t be too long to wait for even more episodes.

Speaking at a special tribute night to Jilly Cooper at the Cheltenham Literature Festival, Rivals executive producer Dominic Treadwell-Collins praised the cast and crew for being so close and creating a fantastic atmosphere on set. He also says big upcoming storylines already had Jilly’s approval before her death.

Dominic said: “I’ve never worked on a show where everyone has come back for season two. All the heads of department came back. Almost everyone is coming up with season three. That just doesn’t happen. But we are ambitious, and we look at every scene rigorously and say, how could it be better?”

“We had Jilly’s notes for season one and all the way through season two. We talked to her about our plans for season three and beyond. So she’s checking on us, and we’ve got her seal of approval on big, things, big story points. We start filming in March and it is odd writing without Jilly.”

Referring to Jilly, who died in October last year, he added: “She was a friend and she became a sort of fairy godmother to all of us. And how lucky we were to have Jilly Cooper as our friend.”

Rivals has been a huge success since it launched in October 2024 with cast including David Tennant, Alex Hassell, Aidan Turner, Emily Atack and Katherine Parkinson.

At the same event Jilly’s daughter Emily Tarrant added that her mum had loved Rivals and the way it gave her books a new lease of life. She added: “She was joyous about it, so thrilled to see all her characters come to life.”

Disney+ have said Season Three will see the stakes become even higher for some of the characters. Announcing Season Three earlier in the year they said: “New romances blossom, old flames rekindle and shocking secrets will be spilled in this third series which takes everyone’s favourite rivalries to the next level. In a world of power, passion and betrayal, everyone has something to lose.”

Jilly’s agent Felicity Blunt, who also acts as en executive producer on Rivals, insisted the late writer understood that the TV version of her books couldn’t be exactly the same and would feature shock deaths or new characters.

Felicity said: “She really understood what it takes to take a book and translate it to screen, and then it can’t be this sort of slavish reproduction of what works in the text, like it has.

“There is a totally different three-dimensional quality to making a piece of great television, and she was the first person to bless any decision that deviated from the book, and really understood why.”

EMILY Atack broke down in tears at the altar as Laura Whitmore shared unseen pics from her boozy Spanish wedding. 

The TV star said ‘I do’ again in the hilltop town of Mojácar, just three weeks after she tied the knot at a local church in Bedfordshire.

And she had tonnes of celebs in attendance, including TV presenter Laura Whitmore and her husband Iain Stirling. 

Taking to social media, Laura has now shared a string of stunning snaps from the special day, including Emily welling up at the altar as she married her hubby, Alistair Garner.

Laura captioned her post: “Emily got married!” and they posed together for a fun shot with sunglasses in hand. 

The TV stars were also joined by Katherine Ryan for one of the photos, and Iain looked to be having the time of his life at the boozy event, as he clutched hold of two espresso martinis.

In another playful snap, Emily could be seen doing a peace sign as she walked through the picturesque streets in her wedding dress. 

Other snaps shared by mum-of-two Laura included her enjoying family time with her youngest child, as well as photos from behind-the-scenes of Emily’s wedding during morning glam, and at a peek at the beautiful blooms adorning the wedding. 

Following the ceremony, the party then made the short walk to Plaza del Ayuntamiento (Town Hall Square) where dinner was served under the giant umbrella-shaped canopy of a century old Weeping Fig tree.

The party was held in the Costa Almería, a sentimental spot where the actress spent childhood holidays at her musician dad Keith’s old summer pad.

Emily and her scientist hubby Alistair were joined by celebrity pals including David Tennant and Stanley Tucci.

Old friend Leigh Francis AKA Keith Lemon was also spotted in the crowd, along with comedian Katherine Ryan, who was seen enjoying some pre-ceremony oysters with her husband Bobby Kootstra.

The star-studded guest list also hosted Emily’s Rivals co-stars Alex Hassell, Victoria Smurfit and Rufus Jones, who plays her on-screen husband in the show.

Emily was walked down the aisle by her pop star father, Keith Atack and celebrated with her actress-comedian mother, Kate Robbins, as well as siblings Martha, George and other family members.

They originally wed at a romantic church service before a party in the garden of their mansion.

Guests were treated to a McDonald’s from a personalised van parked outside.

She wrote on Instagram after the first wedding: “Yesterday we officially got married among close family and friends. It was absolutely perfect.

“I can’t believe we get to do all that again in a few weeks time. Christ, we have fun don’t we.”

The loved-up couple welcomed baby Barney in June 2024 and got engaged in July 2025.

The Inbetweeners star said earlier this year that her second wedding would be a “fat, f***-off party”.

The actress, 36, had already tied the knot with husband Alistair Garner in the UK in August before jetting to Spain last week to host a second wedding surrounded by family and friends.

Her main dress was an off-the-shoulder gown with a stunning long white train, which was a different look from the shoulder-padded plunging dress Emily wore for her first ceremony.

And now, she has unveiled another dress she wore for the pre-wedding welcome drinks in Spain.

The beautiful number was satin with a feathered trim hem and a cowl neck design.

Donning the figure-hugging number, Emily had her blonde locks styled into a bouncy curl to welcome her wedding guests to the night one celebrations.

Sharing a picture from the evening to her Instagram Stories, Emily wrote: “Still can’t get over this dress. I wore this on the 1st night – the welcome drinks.”

Adding that it was a bespoke gown made for her, Emily then said: “Was having such a great time that I barely took any pics but here she is in all her feathery glory”.
