Popular star Kerry Katona has been appearing on ITV’s Good Morning Britain this week

Former Atomic Kitten star Kerry Katona made an announcement on air.

The popular TV personality has been appearing on ITV’s Good Morning Britain this week, alongside various stars. Kerry arrived in the studio to discuss various topical news stories with hosts Kate Garraway, Richard Madeley and Ranvir Singh.

Kerry returned to screens on Wednesday (August 12), where she was joined by Richard, Ranvir and Nigel Havers. The group reflected on several of the day’s biggest stories, including the solar eclipse, Taron Egerton’s estrangement from his dad, and Coleen Nolan’s new boyfriend.

At the end of the segment, Richard said: “Nice chatting with you, but we’ve got to move on. Thank you very much indeed.”

Kerry enthusiastically replied: “Thank you!” Richard then asked if they’d be back tomorrow, before Kerry confirmed: “No. This is my last day today,” as she hugged Nigel.

Fans will likely be devastated to learn that Kerry won’t be returning to the sofa, after many expressed their delight at seeing her on the programme.

A viewer previously wrote on Instagram: “Loved you both on GMB you [have] been a daily tonic.”

Another added: “Love watching you on GMB,” while a third said: “Oh I love you, you crack me up x your cheeky love and your love of life x b***** amazing.”

A fourth viewer echoed the sentiment, saying: “You were absolutely fantastic sweetheart. Just real and saying it like it is…… and, you looked beautiful, too!” Someone else commented: “Great to see you on this morning Kerry. Lovely outfit. You brighten the show up, you’re so funny and great personality. Love all your work babe keep shining.”

Ahead of her final GMB appearance, Kerry took to her Instagram Stories to thank the team for making her feel so welcome.

“Good morning everybody. It’s eclipse day and it’s also my last day this week on Good Morning Britain,” she began.

“I just want to say I’ve had a fabulous time. Half the time I don’t know what I’m talking about and I’m winging it, but it’s been great. And I hope that I’ve made lots of people smile and I’ve brought a little bit of joy and silliness to people’s lives via the TV.

“So, today’s my last day, it’s been amazing, I’ve really enjoyed it. A big shout out to everyone at Good Morning Britain. The make-up artists, hair stylists, the runners, the producers, everyone! You’ve all been great, I’ve really enjoyed it.

“And today, I’m on with our Nigel, and I can’t bloomin wait! It’s because I’ve missed him, he makes me chuckle. So, make sure you’re all tuning in to Good Morning Britain today, around about 9ish. And it’s an eclipse day, it’s going to be a very full on, full day. Have a wonderful and blessed day!”

In a separate statement, Lissie Harper, PC Harper’s widow, said it was “disgusting” that his killers could be eligible for early release.

She said she was “beyond appalled and bristling with anger to hear that Andrew’s killers are soon to be free to roam the streets”.

Thames Valley Police Chief Constable Jason Hogg said the decision not to exclude them was “demoralising for all police officers”.

The Sentencing Act was amended in January, with the eligibility for early release based on the length of fixed sentence, rather than the type of offence.

The act already excluded some of the most serious and dangerous offenders, such as murderers serving life sentences or those on extended sentences.

But last month, Burnham paused the plans after backlash from survivors. The scheme will now restart in October.

Announcing the changes on Monday, he said: “I fully understand the anger, anxiety and distress that’s been caused. I’ve heard that loud and clear.”

Under the revised plans, rape and child sexual offences will now also be excluded from early release.

The government also announced an extra £10 million will go to front-line victim support services, including a new national helpline.

This move does not require changes to the existing legislation before October, the government said, though it may make amendments in the future to exclude certain offenders from being released.

Offenders of other crimes serving longer sentences of four years or more will be eligible for release halfway through their sentences rather than two-thirds as had previously been the case.

Those serving less serious sentences could be freed after a third of their time, rather than half.

The changes are due to be phased in, beginning with prisoners serving sentences of less than 575 days, going up to inmates jailed for 12 years or more being eligible for early release in June 2027.

The “presumption” will be that offenders are tagged and will face longer periods of supervision and tough new rules including “restriction zones”, Burnham said.

The number of individuals released each time will depend on the make-up of the prison population, which the government says will evolve between now and implementation.

A MUM was left devastated after her family were forced to miss a “holiday of a lifetime” because of a common passport mistake.

Victoria Vigors, from Kent, had spent £6,500 on a two-week holiday to Egypt with her whole family.

However, the 41-year-old was left horrified after they arrived at London Gatwick, only to be stopped at the gate along with her 15-year-old son Riley and nine-year-old daughter Roxie.

When staff scanned their boarding passes at the gate, they discovered Roxie’s passport did not have the required period of validity remaining for travel to Egypt.

This was because her passport technically expired on January 4, 2027, but with Egypt requiring at least six months left on them, it meant it wasn’t valid.

Victoria told creatorzine.com: “My stomach dropped and I felt like i’d been kicked in the stomach.”

“The kids crumpled and I burst into tears. I begged the staff but there was nothing they could do.

“We had to be escorted back to get our luggage off the flight – It was so embarrassing.”

She said not only were the kids devastated, but that Roxie thought it was her fault.

She continued: “I wasn’t aware of the rules. For people like me who don’t always travel and it’s the first time with my children, I wasn’t to know.

“I would have thought when I put her passport details in to check in that would tell me it wasn’t valid.

“That would be a simple system to install so save this agony and heartbreak.”

The family are now trying to get an emergency passport to try and enjoy the last few days of the trip they’ve paid for, as they were unable to get a refund.

She added: “I’d been saving up for two years.

“We were incredibly excited as we’d never had a two-week holiday abroad together or been to a resort like this.

“It was going to be the holiday of a lifetime.”

An EasyJet spokesperson said: “Unfortunately Ms Vigors and her daughter were unable to fly as her daughter’s passport did not meet passport validity rules.

“We remind customers during booking, check-in and by email before they travel to ensure they are aware of the travel documentation requirements for their trip, and it is customers’ responsibility to ensure they have valid documentation for travel.”

The American punk rock band, Alkaline Trio, have revealed to fans the sad news that they are unable to continue on their UK tour. 

Frontman Matt Skiba, Dan Andriano and Tosh Peterson make up the Chicago originated group.

The trio were all set to perform last night in Birmingham but hours before the show was set to start, the band released a statement on social media.

It read: “We are immensely sorry but we must cancel our dates in England, including tonight’s show in Birmingham, due to medical issues Matt has been suffering from that have worsened.

Not only will the band miss their upcoming UK tour dates to return to the States, but they have also been forced to cancel their highly anticipated headline performance at 2000trees Festival. 

Frontman Matt went on to share a video to fans from London Heathrow Airport, expressing his gratitude for “all the love and support”.

He added: “You guys deserve a better show than I can throw right now. I got numbness in my feet, numbness in my hands as you can tell I’m losing my voice so I can’t really talk, walk, play or sing. But I’m okay.”

After the news broke fans rushed to the comments, one user said: “Sorry to hear this and get well soon.

“Have flights and accommodation booked for the Manchester gig on Wednesday as no Dublin date. Dang.”

Another added: “Gutted to hear this guys, was so looking forward to seeing you again in London tomorrow, but know this decision wouldn’t have been taken lightly. Get well soon Matt.”

“Me looking at my tickets for London and 2000trees (crying emoji) Get well soon, Matt! Wishing you a speedy recovery fam,” a third added.

“It is what it is. Just a shame cus I was literally about to leave my hotel when I saw the message,” penned a fourth.

The band, whose name derived from Matt Skiba simply flicking through a dictionary to find a cool word to stick in front of the “Trio”, was founded in 1996 and went on to sell over a million albums.

Matt is well known for serving as the co-lead vocalist and guitarist of Blink-182 from 2015 to 2022.

Alkaline Trio are best known for songs like ‘Stupid Kid’ and ‘Private eye’. 

The band shot to fame when they released their debut single ‘Sundials’, in 1997.
