Corriedale is just around the corner as the worlds of Coronation Street and Emmerdale collide in a devastating crash, and new spoilers and pictures have teased what happens

Corriedale has finally arrived, with new teasers for Emmerdale and Coronation Street promising death and destruction.

According to new spoilers, there’s drama and twists and turns, while things may never be the same again. New teasers reveal what leads into the big crossover for both soaps, and it seems it could be anyone who perishes or is injured.

While details remain under wraps, it has been revealed that Weatherfield residents will grieve a loss. So who dies, and is it more than one fatality? Does anyone die in Emmerdale?

At the moment it is confirmed there’s a body, but it’s hinted this happens before Corriedale. It’s also not confirmed if the body is dead, as it just says lifeless, while we also don’t know who it is, and who is shown dragging them along.

What is revealed is that there’s life-changing repercussions when the soaps collide, as “a series of dramatic incidents lead to a multi-vehicle pile-up on a dark and stormy road between Hotten and Weatherfield”. Both soaps will air a 30-minute episode leading them into the hour-long crossover episode that same day.

A gun-wielding John Sugden is preparing for revenge, as Aaron Dingle attempts to save Robert Sugden’s life by agreeing to leave the village with his killer husband John. As Aaron faces grave danger, Robert and Joe speed off after them.

Then there’s Cain and Moira Dingle, who are driving Jacob Gallagher and Sarah Sudden to the airport. They’re soon blinded by Mack flashing his headlights in a car behind them with his wife Charity in the passenger seat.

As Cain brakes, Mack smashes through a fence and into a field. As for Weatherfield residents, Carla Connor and Kit Green are in pursuit of Becky Swain, while Kit also soon ends up in pursuit of killer John. On the scene, it’s a race against time to save those trapped after the crash.

As traffic behind the crash site halts, we see a small van pull up with a driver glancing at a terrified woman in the back, who is tied up. Also caught up in the accident in some way are Debbie and Ronnie’s wedding guests in the minibus. Guests include Billy, David, Shona, Steve, and Tracy.

Debbie herself could be in danger as she and Carl are in a car, with a drunken Carl losing control. In terms of what leads to the crash, one spoiler teases: “Becky, fleeing her past with Lisa and Betsy, loses control of her vehicle, triggering a multi-car pile-up on a stormy road between Hotten and Weatherfield.”

It seems the aftermath of the crash will be just as eventful. The injured are taken to hospital and life “will never be the same”. A body is left lying in a van at the depot, while there could be mortal danger after the crash for some.

As the details about what has happened and why come to light, a confession is shared. Just as someone believes they are in the clear, someone is watching and videoing their every move. All is not what it seems for some, while some people are keeping secrets.

Elsewhere, one couple face a life or death situation and the police investigation continues, with one resident finding themself under arrest and facing charges. Families are at war and there’s surprises from the past, with shockwaves sent around the cobbles.

It’s safe to say it’s an unmissable week of episodes, as the new pictures alone prove, never mind the teasers. But who will survive, and who will make it out unscathed?

From January 6 2026, Emmerdale airs weeknights at 7:30pm on ITV1 and ITVX, with an hour-long episode on Thursdays. Coronation Street airs weeknights at 8:30pm on ITV1 and ITV X.

COPS investigating the deaths of Hollywood director Rob Reiner and his wife have shared more details about the scene that greeted them at the couple’s sprawling home. 

Reiner, 78, and Michele Singer Reiner, 70, were allegedly murdered by their 32-year-old son, Nick, on December 14.

Both deaths have been ruled as a homicide by Los Angeles County medical examiners.

And, both died from multiple sharp force injuries. Only one cause of death has been listed on their reports.

Cops on the Los Angeles Board of Police Commissioners spoke briefly about the scene at the $13.5 million Brentwood home. 

Dominic Choi said the couple were found in the master bedroom of the home. 

“Officers conducted a thorough search of the residence to determine whether there was any additional victims or suspects,” he said.

“No one else was located.”

Los Angeles Fire Department was among the first agencies to rush to the Reiner home. 

The first call was made at 3:30pm and a unit was requested to respond to a Code two situation, as per dispatch audio obtained by People. 

A code two situation is where trucks respond with lights flashing and no sirens.

This was then upgraded to code three, where crews respond with sirens and flashing lights. 

The Reiners died on December 14, according to the medical examiner’s report.

A masseuse called the couple’s 27-year-old daughter, Romy, on Sunday when they weren’t let into the home. 

She found her dad’s dead body before suddenly charging out of the home, as reported by the New York Times.

Romy didn’t see her mom’s body before learning that she was also dead.

The legendary career of iconic director Rob Reiner

FAMED actor, director and producer Rob Reiner, 78, died on December 14 alongside his wife Michele Singer, 68, in an apparent homicide.

Here is a look at the prodigious list of achievements the Hollywood powerhouse earned before his tragic and sudden death.

Director’s Beginnings

• Reiner was born in New York City on March 6, 1947, to legendary comedy writer Carl Reiner and singer Estelle Reiner

Nick was arrested near the Expo/Vermont metro station in the Exposition Park area of Los Angeles at around 9:15pm – around six hours after Romy rushed to the scene. 

Around one hour before he was arrested, he bought a Gatorade from an Arco gas station.

He was reportedly fidgety before buying the drink and kept looking behind him.

At around 4am on Sunday, he checked into the Pierside Santa Monica hotel – located around four miles from the family home.

Nick has been charged with two counts of first degree murder. 

Prosecutors are still considering the death penalty. 

Nick made his first court appearance on Wednesday and wore a blue suicide vest. 

He had been on suicide watch while in custody, according to reports.

In the court hearing, he waived his right to a speedy arraignment, and his next scheduled appearance is January 7.

Outside court, Jackson later told reporters the case involves “complex and serious issues” that needed to be dealt with “thoroughly and carefully”.

Nick’s siblings, Jake and Romy, described the deaths of their parents as a “horrific and devastating” loss.

“Words cannot even begin to describe the unimaginable pain we are experiencing every moment of the day,” they told TMZ.

“They weren’t just our parents; they were our best friends.”

Jake and Romy didn’t mention Nick in their statement.

Nick allegedly killed his parents after attending a Christmas party held on December 13.

But at the shindig, Nick and his dad reportedly had a bust-up, family sources told TMZ. 

Nick also had a tense moment with Bill Hader at the party, according to Page Six.

He reportedly stared at the ex-Saturday Night Live star before storming off.

Nick also quizzed A-listers at the bash, reportedly asking if they were famous.

At the party hosted by Conan O’Brien, Reiner expressed concern for his son’s well-being. 

ADDICTION BATTLES

Nick has been candid about his battles with drug addiction.

His stints in rehab facilities began when he was just 15. 

Nick, also a producer, co-wrote the 2015 film Being Charlie and the inspiration behind it was his relationship with his dad during his addiction.

Charlie, played by Nick Robinson, becomes addicted to drugs and his dad in the movie urges him to get help.

The movie follows Charlie’s battle as he fails at different rehab programs.

“It was very, very hard going through it the first time, with these painful and difficult highs and lows,” Reiner said.

“And then making the movie dredged it all up again.”

Reiner said making the movie with Nick helped the two become closer.

“I said it to his face. I’ll say it on the air: He was the heart and soul of the film and any time I would get an opportunity to work with him I would do it,” he told NPR.

LA28 announced the next step in its ticketing plan for the 2028 Olympic and Paralympic Games on Monday as ticket registration will open on Jan. 14.

Fans can start registering for tickets on Jan. 14 at la28.org, and the registration will remain open until March 18. All who sign up will be entered into a random draw to receive a time slot to purchase tickets. While registering, fans will enter their zip codes, and those who live in the Los Angeles and Oklahoma City areas near venues will be eligible to access the first time slots reserved for locals.

“The goal there is to make sure that we’re getting tickets into the hands, not just the fans, but of the local fans,” said Allison Katz-Mayfield, LA28’s senior vice president of Games delivery revenue. “Those that are going to be closest to the Games, really helping us host these Games in some ways.”

The 2028 Olympics will feature the largest Games schedule in history, with 36 sports and 11,198 athletes. The majority of the Games will be held in L.A., including major sports zones in downtown, Exposition Park and the Sepulveda Basin, but cities including Carson, Inglewood and Long Beach will also have multiple venues. Oklahoma City will host the softball and canoe slalom events at existing facilities.

LA28 is still finalizing the duration of each purchasing window, although the plan is to have multiple opportunities per day, so fans would be assigned time slots that are open for several hours. Tickets for a variety of events will be available during each drop in 2026, with single-event tickets beginning at $28. When tickets for the Paralympics go on sale in 2027, the system will be similar and fans will not have to re-register their interest.

While the Olympics will be back in L.A. for the third time in 2028, it will be the first time the city is hosting the Paralympics.

LA28 plans to release 14 million tickets for the Olympics and Paralympics. The total would be a Games record, eclipsing the 12 million sold in Paris, where ticket sales began almost a year after the timeline LA28 is currently using. The Paris Games that opened in July 2024 did not begin ticket registration until November 2022, 20 months before the event.

Fans will have two-and-a-half years to register and purchase tickets before L.A. opens the Olympics on July 14, 2028.

We are getting some new information about America’s long-range Dark Eagle hypersonic boost-glide vehicle weapon system from Secretary Hegseth’s recent tour of Redstone Arsenal in Alabama. During his visit, Hegseth designated the installation as U.S. Space Command’s (SPACECOM) new headquarters.

The Army’s Dark Eagle, also known as the Long Range Hypersonic Weapon (LRHW), is a trailer-launched hypersonic boost-glide vehicle system that can travel long distances at hypersonic speeds (velocities in excess of Mach 5) while maneuvering erratically through Earth’s atmosphere. This makes it an ideal weapon for striking high-priority and time-sensitive targets that are extremely well defended. This includes critical air defenses, command and control nodes, and enemy sensor systems, among other targets. It is the first true hypersonic weapon slated for frontline U.S. service. The same missile architecture is being adopted by the Navy for sea-launch under the Intermediate Range Conventional Prompt Strike (IRCPS) weapon system.

During a show-and-tell of Army missile systems, Lt. Gen. Francisco Lozano, Director of Hypersonic, Directed Energy, Space and Rapid Acquisition, told Hegseth that Dark Eagle has a 3,500-kilometer range. Members of the media were also present at the event, which was captured on video by C-SPAN and other outlets.

Lt. Gen. Francisco Lozano further noted that he can hit “mainland China from Guam” with Dark Eagle. He also said it could hit Moscow from London and Tehran from Qatar. This isn’t the first official statement of range for Dark Eagle from the Pentagon. The weapon was previously said to have at least a 1,725-mile (2,775-kilometer) range. Based on Lozano’s comments today, its actual range is at least 2,175 miles. It isn’t clear if the Army’s own figures have changed based on the evolution of the weapon and its testing, or if the previous figure was ‘watered down’ intentionally, which is common when it comes to official metrics for missile systems.

Another Army officer at the event, who is not immediately identifiable, told Hegseth that Dark Eagle has a warhead “under 30 pounds,” which is relatively tiny for a long-range weapon — smaller in size than what’s found on an AIM-120 air-to-air missile, for instance. The officer stated the warhead is just to get its “projectiles out” and that it can deliver effects over an area about the same size as the parking lot they were standing on.

As we have repeatedly said, the kinetic punch this weapon provides would contribute more to its destructive power than a conventional warhead mounted in the tight confines of the conical boost-glide vehicle. Still, a blast fragmentation warhead, which was alluded to by the officer, would help with putting softer targets out of commission, like air defense batteries and radar arrays.

The officer also said Dark Eagle can cover its range in less than 20 minutes.

War Sec. Pete Hegseth Visits The New Site For U.S. Space Command Headquarters In Huntsville, Alabama

The mention of the warhead is of special interest as there had been concerns by Pentagon testers of Dark Eagle’s lethality as recently as last year.

We wrote about the Pentagon’s test assessment back in February, stating:

“In the meantime, the Navy has tested the warhead for the AUR, but independent of the missile. An arena test for the warhead was carried out in the first quarter of FY24, followed by a sled test in the second quarter of FY24. The Pentagon says that this sled test “included some threat-representative targets,” but also notes that results are still being processed.

Earlier sled and flight tests “did not include operationally representative targets and consequently provided no direct validation of the weapon’s lethal effects,” the Pentagon adds.

…

Ultimately, the Army “needs to incorporate representative targets and environments into flight tests and other live lethality and survivability tests,” this portion of the report concludes.”

Dark Eagle has had more than its share of development delays, but as of June of this year, the Army intended the weapon system to become operational by the end of Fiscal Year 2025. Where that schedule stands now isn’t clear. There is one battery already stationed at Fort Lewis, and another is supposed to arrive this year.

The importance of getting Dark Eagle up and running goes beyond tactical and strategic considerations, as the U.S. has lagged behind its peers in areas of hypersonic development, most notably when it comes to China.

It’s also worth mentioning that Hegseth asked about how many they are producing and how fast. The Army officer said one per month, but the goal is to increase that number to two per month, or 24 a year. Clearly, the ability to produce weapons in large quantities quickly is top of the mind for Hegseth as the U.S. struggles with its supply of combat mass. Some have argued Dark Eagle is a class of ‘silver bullet’ weapon that will be built in too few numbers and at too high a cost to have a major impact in a sustained conflict.

Regardless, now that we know more about the technical specifications of the weapon system, the Pentagon could be on the cusp of finally declaring it operational.
