Savvy Taylor Swift could be behind $800m payday for fellow musicians after tucking secret clause into record deal

TAYLOR SWIFT is proving she doesn’t just top the charts – but is also helping pay the bills of thousands of artists in the industry.

Insiders said the pop powerhouse could be behind a payday worth up to $800million for fellow musicians, thanks to a savvy little move she tucked into her record deal years ago.

When Taylor signed with Universal Music Group in 2018, she had assurances that if the label ever cashed in its Spotify shares, the artists had to get a slice of the pie.

Now UMG is preparing to flog part of its multi-billion-pound stake in the streaming giant, and a chunky wedge of that cash could be heading straight to the people making hits.

It is thought between $500million and $800million could be shared out, meaning a serious payday for everyone from global superstars to artists still making their way up.

Drake, Billie Eilish, Ariana Grande and Kendrick Lamar are all in the mix.

And this might just be her most generous plot twist yet.

LEO IS LORD OF THE GRINS

ONE Day and Bridget Jones actor Leo Woodall is on to a grinner as he spends an evening with girlfriend Meghann Fahy.

The smiling couple put on a united front at The King’s Trust annual gala in New York on Wednesday, proving they’re still very much an item.

Brit Leo and the US actress fell for each other after meeting on the set of The White Lotus in 2022, and now live together in the Big Apple.

We’ll soon be able to see plenty more of him on screen, as he has landed a major role in The Lord Of The Rings: The Hunt For Gollum, which hits cinemas next year.

BREAK-UP AND BABY BATTLE IN NEW JESY DOCUMENTARY

JESY NELSON is making a documentary about her battle to overhaul baby screening laws.

The former Little Mix singer will launch an hour-long film at Sheffield Docfest on June 11, in which she is shown coming to terms with her twin girls’ diagnosis with SMA type 1.

It will also show her dealing with the breakdown of her relationship with rapper Zion Foster.

Jesy revealed in January that daughters Ocean and Story had the genetic disorder, which results in muscle degeneration.

She said the impact could have been prevented if it had been detected earlier, leading to her fight to get heel prick tests for all newborns.

The film is said to be “raw and powerful”.

Its rundown adds: “The documentary follows Jesy as she comes to terms with what the diagnosis means for her girls, adapts to the everyday challenges of their conditions, and finds her footing as a single mother after the break-up of her relationship.

“It’s a portrait of motherhood, resilience and the fierce determination that comes from knowing that a simple change in the system can save lives.”

The documentary follows on from Jesy Nelson: Life After Little Mix, which aired on Prime Video earlier this year, although no date has been set for its release.

OLIVIA RODRIGO is ready to get back in the swing of things by announcing a massive tour, less than a year after headlining Glastonbury.

The singer, who posed in a flowing dress and bunny shoes for Cosmopolitan magazine, will hit the road for her third run of headline shows, called The Unraveled Tour, in September.

UK fans might face a scrap for tickets when they go on pre-sale next Tuesday ahead of a general sale on Thursday.

Her only dates in Blighty so far are four shows at London’s O2 Arena, in April next year.

It comes ahead of the release of her third album, You Seem Pretty Sad For A Girl So In Love, on June 12.

She told Cosmo of the record: “I was really excited to write about joy, love, and passion in a way that I had never really done.

“Most of my big songs are about being sad, angry, heartbroken.

“Sometimes I listen back to it and I cringe.

“It’s cringier to be happy.

“I cringe, but I’m free.”

JACKO FILM SEQUEL AFTER ‘GAMBLE’ HIT

LIONSGATE studio boss Adam Fogelson has revealed Michael Jackson’s story isn’t stopping at just one film.

He’s confirmed a sequel, and reckons rival companies will be kicking themselves for not moonwalking into the deal sooner.

Michael, starring the singer’s nephew Jaafar Jackson, has become a box office hit, with the biggest global opening weekend for any biopic.

Adam said of a follow-up: “It’s going to happen whether it’s this year or next year.”

He said Lionsgate took a huge gamble backing the project in 2021, due to controversies surrounding the late King of Pop, but insists they knew audiences would turn up.

Adam added: “You know that if this comes together, there is an audience.

“It was one of those rare times where there was nothing but joy.

“There is a massive amount of music and life experience that would fill more than a second movie on its own.”

With Jacko fans already clamouring for more, it looks like this thriller is only just getting started.

Kris said: “I was on vacation and I felt like taking the bicycle out in front of the villa and riding down to the restaurant.

“I thought, no, because what if I’m riding the bike and somebody jumps out of the bushes, grabs the bike, throws me in the back of a van and takes off?”

Khloe added: “My mom won’t go on a walk in the neighbourhood without security following her in a vehicle.”

Inside Molly-Mae’s plan to ‘Fury-proof’ her £22m fortune with prenup ‘cheating clause’ & spare mansion after Tyson snub

AFTER becoming the first Love Island star to make Forbes’ 30 Under 30 list, savvy Molly-Mae Hague has a nifty plan to ‘Fury-proof’ her finances.

With a staggering £22million in the bank and a second baby with boxer fiancé Tommy on the way, there are whispers that a watertight pre-nup featuring a “loyalty clause” is in the works.

Molly, 26, took the shamed boxer back a year ago after cheating allegations against him led to their shock split in 2024.

And while her £600,000 engagement ring is back on and she is pregnant with a sibling for three-year-old Bambi, there is no sign of a wedding on the horizon.

Now sources close to the business-minded beauty say she is determined to make sure Tommy, 26, is 100 per cent dedicated to her before tying the knot.

An insider explained: “Molly has more than proved she knows a thing or two about making money and she knows full well what marriage could mean for her wealth.

“There’s been talk that she would want him to sign a contract before they commit any further, which would have a cheating clause and allow her the access to her money she feels she might need to move on.”

Molly was already a popular influencer when she appeared on Love Island in 2019 and met Tommy but her rise to super stardom and extreme wealth after the show is unprecedented.

‘Old home is back up’

She did not just land a fast fashion deal like other Islanders. She became Pretty Little Thing’s creative director, earning a reported £400,000 per month.

She also secured deals with huge companies such as L’Oreal and Fairy.

And recently she is said to have been paid more than £2million to collaborate with Adidas.

Molly would not be the first woman to demand a cheating clause.

Catherine Zeta Jones is said to have included a similar one in the pre-nup prior to her 2000 wedding to fellow actor Michael Douglas.

It was reported that if he ever cheated he would have to pay Catherine £1million for every year they were married.

Justin Timberlake and Jessica Biel also allegedly have a clause in their prenup that would entitle Jess to £400,000 if he cheated.

It was late in the summer of 2024 that Molly dumped Tommy, telling her followers: “Never in a million years did I think I’d ever have to write this.

“After five years of being together I never imagined our story would end, especially not this way.”

The couple had been planning to move into a £5million mansion but after Tommy was accused of kissing a blonde beauty on a lads’ holiday to Macedonia, Molly stayed put in her £4million Cheshire home and booted Tommy out.

But the couple were seen sharing a kiss at a New Year’s Eve party and officially reunited in May 2025.

And while they now live in their new family home, we can reveal Molly has kept hold of her first mansion, which is solely in her use.

Our insider said: “Molly has been very reluctant to sell the Cheshire home and knows it’s probably wise to keep hold of it as a back up.”

At the start of the year fans were shocked when Molly quietly announced she was expecting another baby with Tommy, and was already six months pregnant.

Pals say the star opted to have another child with Tommy because she was keen that her children all have the same father.

Another source adds: “Molly is very traditional in lots of ways and Tommy is, of course, also very old school, so they wanted to have more children together.”

A blended family was not an option for Molly, the source said.

Molly’s dream

“She wants her kids to have consistency like she had growing up. It’s one of the main reasons she got back with him.”

Casting doubt over their relationship, Tommy’s dad John Fury said in the family’s Netflix show, At Home With The Furys: “Molly is a lovely person, but she can’t help the life she’s been brought up in, it’s contrasting to ours.

“But she’s put up with some s*** hasn’t she, so fair play to her – she’s not a bad girl.

“I’m also going to be there to support them. Let’s see what happens.”

Tommy’s half brother and former world heavyweight boxing champion Tyson has also been critical of Molly’s career.

In the new series of his show he appears mocking of influencers, warning his daughter Venezuela: “If you are an influencer your private life is non-existent. Look at Tommy and Molly. If you want to make money out of doing nothing, basically privacy doesn’t exist.

“I’ve done a million-thousand achievements. I can write a table full of them. We’re just in an era where you can get famous for what? Getting our tits out on telly.”

But Molly, a dropout from the London College of Fashion, has come a long way since Love Island.

Forbes might have put Tyson at No3 in its ranking of the highest-paid athletes in the world, with his earnings being estimated at £120 million, but Molly is hot on his heels (wearing her sold-out Adidas shoe collection).

EU lawmakers approve trade deal with U.S., but add safeguards

The European Parliament voted Thursday to approve a trade deal between Washington and Brussels but with amendments added to protect European interests should the United States fail to hold up its end of the bargain.

The deal was negotiated last July in Turnberry, Scotland, by President Trump and European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen. It set a 15% tariff on most goods in an effort to stave off far higher import duties on both sides that might have sent shock waves through economies around the globe.

New language now says that the deal can be suspended if Washington “undermined the objectives of the deal, discriminated against EU economic operators, threatened member states’ territorial integrity, foreign and defence policies, or engaged in economic coercion.”

That clause was forged because of the tensions over Greenland, said Bernd Lange, a German lawmaker and head of the EU’s parliamentary trade committee.

Trump drew widespread condemnation across the 27-nation bloc by threatening to take control of Greenland, a semiautonomous territory of Denmark. He has backed away from the threat, at least for now.

“If this would happen again, then immediately the tariffs would be installed,” he said at a news conference after lawmakers voted. He said the protective modifications were “weatherproofing” the Turnberry deal.

The deal will now be further negotiated by EU trade representatives Maroš Šefčovič and his U.S. counterpart Jamieson Greer, who are meeting Friday on the sidelines of the World Trade Organization meeting in Yaoundé, Cameroon.

“We need the EU-U.S. deal in force on both sides — delivering real certainty for EU businesses and showing that genuine partnership gets results,” Šefčovič said after the vote in Brussels.

There were formally two votes to introduce clauses to the deal. One passed 417-154 and the other 437-144 with dozens of abstentions each.

The U.S. Ambassador to the EU Andrew Pudzer said the vote would provide “stability and predictability” for U.S. and EU businesses and drive economic growth. “We encourage all parties to think to the future and the importance of unleashing opportunities for businesses on both sides of the Atlantic,” he said.

Malte Lohan, CEO of American Chamber of Commerce to the European Union, said the vote is “the right signal for businesses that have been stuck in limbo over the past year” and “a necessary step towards a more predictable transatlantic marketplace.”

Croatian lawmaker Željana Zovko said that despite the trade spat between Brussels and Washington, trade across the Atlantic had grown over the past year. “This resilience proves the trans-Atlantic trade works, and if it works, we should strengthen it, not hold it back.”

McNeil writes for the Associated Press.
