Reports are emerging from the powerful explosion at a military barracks in Bolivia that killed at least nine people. President Rodrigo Paz declared a period of national mourning, with the initial investigation suggesting the blast was an accident.

At least 10 people were killed and around 60 wounded in central Mexico when fireworks detonated during a religious festival. Residents had been honouring the patron saint of Temascalcingo, a municipality in central Mexico, when tragedy struck.
