RFU president Deborah Griffin becomes first woman to head English rugby union’s governing body

While the World Cup will dominate Griffin’s early days, come the autumn the RFU’s governance reform will return to the headlines.

After a tumultuous period last season, when RFU chief executive Bill Sweeney survived a vote of no confidence, her role will focus on helping English rugby evolve.

“I do believe that all parts of the game want us to evolve and improve our governance,” she said.

“That’s really, really important – and a lot of that is in response to societal changes. The world doesn’t stand still, and neither can we.

“It won’t move as fast as people maybe think it should, but then I don’t think that’s a problem.

“We won’t have another major governance review, probably for another 10 years or more. So it’s really, really important – I’d rather get this right.”

The results of the governance review will go to the RFU Council in the autumn but work on giving more devolved power to different regions could come sooner.

Having visited clubs across England in her previous roles with the RFU, she wants the union to become more agile and responsive to each region’s needs.

“I think people want to have more influence over conversations and decisions that are being made regionally,” she said.

“One solution for Cumbria is not the same as the solution for Hampshire. We’ve been working on this for several years in terms of how we can make those decisions, particularly around the growth of rugby at more local levels.

“We have to move on with that regionalisation, and the governance has to be aligned with that. You can’t do everything all at once. So we very much want to get the regionalisation under way in the next season.”

Horror moment monster who killed his own grandad GLASSES punter who confronted him for boasting about evil crime in pub

HORRIFYING footage shows the moment a monster who killed his own grandad glassed a punter who confronted him for boasting about his evil crime.

Sick thug Jakob Walpole, 33, killed vintage car expert John Brown, 81, in a brutal attack on his grandfather in Bulkington, Warwickshire.

The “internationally renowned” Jaguar restoration expert suffered serious head injuries in his home at the hands of Walpole, who was convicted of John’s manslaughter.

Less than four minutes later, Walpole was seen on CCTV footage emerging from the property and from there headed to a village pub.

He stayed at the pub for a matter of minutes before moving on to a working men’s club.

It was here the cowardly thug was also convicted of breaching a restraining order and assaulting two other victims, a court heard on Wednesday.

Now, footage released showing the cowardly killer boasting about his despicable crime and attacking others has surfaced.

Jurors heard drunken Walpole attacked Dennis Hopson from behind in Bulkington Working Men’s Club after openly speaking about the vicious assault on his grandad.

Drunken Wallpole also “ignored” Mr Hopson’s pleas to moderate his language as he continued to badger the drinker.

He was then caught on “clear” CCTV footage attacking the elderly drinker.

Matters came to a head when Walpole took the victim’s seat before smashing a pint glass over the back of his Hopson’s head after being told to move.

The attack caused cuts to Mr Hopson’s ear, neck and head and prosecutor Michael Duck KC told jurors: “There can be no suggestion (Walpole) was acting in self-defence or anything of that sort.”

A barman was then punched in the face as he frogmarched Walpole out of the club.

“Belligerent” Walpole was arrested for all three attacks later the same night.

He remained abusive throughout the process and “booking in” at a police station, the court heard.

Jurors were also shown “haunting” footage of “world-renowned”  restoration expert John pleading for help on a security camera before he was attacked by Walpole.

Earlier that evening, Walpole had been seen on CCTV arriving at John’s bungalow, before going inside and attacking the pensioner.

The pensioner could be seen waving at the camera – said to be linked to his daughter, Walpole’s mum – while in the garden before heading inside.

Mr Duck told jurors: “John Brown is Jakob Walpole’s grandfather.
He was a frail man and he had recently been diagnosed with the early stages of dementia.

“He was plainly a vulnerable individual and the evidence will demonstrate that this defendant was acutely aware of that.”

John was well known in the local community, having run a successful car panel and body repair business due to his expertise in respect of vintage cars, the court heard.

Police summoned to the bungalow by John’s daughter, Lynda Brown, found the pensioner “dazed and confused” and with significant injuries to his face and arms.

Despite being rushed to hospital, over the following hours John suffered a bleed on the brain as a result of the attack and passed away six days later.

Walpole had also attended a match at Coventry City‘s home stadium that lunchtime before visiting local pubs in the run-up to the spree of violence.

Concerns about Walpole’s “deteriorating behaviour” had led to a security camera being installed at his grandparents’ home address in Bulkington.

He was also already subject to a restraining order when he carried out the attack on his grandfather.

‘ACT OF COWARDICE’

Walpole, of School Road, Bulkington, Warwickshire, will be sentenced next Monday.

Commenting after the case, Natalie Kelly, from the Crown Prosecution Service, said: “Jakob Walpole carried out a senseless and brutal attack on his own grandfather who had tried to help him.

“He showed no concern or remorse following the attack.

“Rather than call for help, he callously left his vulnerable and elderly grandfather severely injured and went to a local pub where he assaulted two further elderly victims.

“Everyone who knew Mr Brown saw how much he did for his grandson, often going out of his way to care and support him – but Walpole simply took advantage of his kindness.

“While this conviction ensures Walpole is held accountable for his actions, the family have been left with a deep and lasting pain that no justice can erase.”

Detective Inspector Gareth Unett, who led the investigation for Warwickshire Police, said: “John Brown was a kind, gentle, hardworking man whose loss has left a huge void in the lives of his loved ones and friends.

“Not only was he loved greatly by all those around him, he was known internationally as one of the best restorers of classic Jaguars.

“The legacy he leaves is not only in the love and generosity he showed to those around him, but also in the countless classic cars that will survive for generations more thanks to his work.

“Walpole’s attack on his grandfather, who had shown him nothing but kindness and generosity, was an act of cowardice and brutality that, in decades of policing, I struggle to find a comparison for.”

Microsoft accuses Russia’s FSB of using malware against foreign embassies | Cybersecurity News

Microsoft says cyber-espionage campaign ‘poses high risk’ to foreign embassies, diplomats and other groups in Moscow.

Microsoft has accused one of the Russian government’s premier cyber-espionage units of deploying malware against embassies and diplomatic organisations in Moscow by leveraging local internet service providers.

In a blog post on Thursday, Microsoft Threat Intelligence said the campaign by Russia’s Federal Security Service, also known as the FSB, “has been ongoing since at least 2024”.

The effort “poses a high risk to foreign embassies, diplomatic entities, and other sensitive organizations operating in Moscow, particularly to those entities who rely on local internet providers”, Microsoft said.

The analysis confirms for the first time that the FSB is conducting cyber-espionage at the ISP level, according to Microsoft’s findings.

“This means that diplomatic personnel using local ISP or telecommunications services in Russia are highly likely targets of [the campaign] within those services,” the blog post reads.

Microsoft tracked an alleged FSB cyber-espionage campaign that in February targeted unnamed foreign embassies in Moscow.

The FSB activity facilitates the installation of custom backdoors on targeted computers, which can be used to install additional malware, as well as steal data, Microsoft said.

The findings come amid increasing pressure from Washington for Moscow to agree to a ceasefire in its war in Ukraine and pledges from NATO countries to increase defence spending surrounding their own concerns about Russia.

Microsoft did not say which embassies were targeted by the FSB campaign.

The US Department of State, as well as Russian diplomats, did not respond to requests for comment from the Reuters news agency.

Russia has denied carrying out cyber-espionage operations. There was no immediate comment from Moscow on Microsoft’s report on Thursday.

The hacking unit linked to the activity, which Microsoft tracks as “Secret Blizzard” and others categorise as “Turla”, has been hacking governments, journalists and others for nearly 20 years, the US government said in May 2023.

White House announces new $200m ballroom

BBC News, White House

White House Rendering of the gold and white interior of the White House's ballroom design. White House

A rendering of the new, 650-person ballroom has been described as “much needed” by the White House

The White House has announced plans to build a $200m (£151m) new ballroom, fulfilling an often-repeated desire of US President Donald Trump.

The new ballroom will be built alongside a “modernised” East Wing of the White House, which currently houses the offices of First Lady Melania Trump and other key White House posts.

The money will be donated directly by Trump and other so-far anonymous donors, with work beginning in September, according to Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt.

Trump has repeatedly promised to build a “beautiful” ballroom at the White House, and in 2016 offered to pay $100m during Barack Obama’s administration – which the then-President rejected.

Many White House events are hosted in the much smaller East Room, with large tents set up on the South Lawn for larger events – sometimes with world leaders

In a briefing for reporters at the White House on Thursday, Leavitt said that the “much needed and exquisite addition” to the White House will be approximately 90,000 (8,360 sq m) with a seating capacity of about 650.

Currently, many formal White House functions are held in the White House’s East Room, which can seat approximately 200 people.

The new ballroom, Leavitt added, would also eliminate the need for a “large and unsightly tent” to be installed for state dinners and other large events – which sometimes include world leaders.

According to Leavitt, construction is expected to be completed “long before” the end of Trump’s term in office in January 2029.

“The President and the Trump White House are fully committed to working with the appropriate organisations to preserving the special history of the White House, while building a beautiful ballroom that can be enjoyed by future administrations and generations of Americans to come,” Chief of Staff Susie Wiles said in a statement.

White House A rendering shows what the White House and the new East Wing would look like after renovations White House

A rendering shows what the outside would look like of the renovated East Wing of the White House. The right portion of the building is the East Wing.

Renderings provided by the White House show that the ballroom will be similar architecturally to the rest of the White House, with a lavish interior including chandeliers and ornate columns.

Offices currently housed in the East Wing of the White House adjacent to the construction – including that of First Lady Melania Trump – will be temporarily re-located.

President Trump has repeatedly voiced his wishes for a new ballroom as part of renovations to the White House, which has already seen the installation of two large flagpoles, new gold decorations in the Oval Office and the bulldozing and paving over of the famed Rose Garden.

Watch: “It’s a disaster” – Trump on need to replace event tent with new ballroom

“There’s never been a President that’s good at ballrooms,” Trump said at an event at the White House on Thursday. “I’m good at building things.”

Trump added that “they’ve always had to get tents” for large events at the White House, which he described as a disaster. “It’s not a pretty sight.”

Earlier this week during a Scotland meeting with European Council President Ursula Van der Leyen, Trump told her that “we’re building a great ballroom at the White House.”

“No president knew how to build a ballroom,” Trump said while sitting in another ballroom at his Turnberry golf resort. “I could take this one, drop it right down there, and it would be beautiful.”

In 2016, when on the campaign trail during the administration of Barack Obama, Trump famously offered to contribute $100m for the construction of a new ballroom for the White House to use to host events.

At the time, then-Press Secretary Josh Earnest said that the suggestion was “not something that was at all seriously considered”.

“I’m not sure that it would be appropriate to have a shiny gold Trump sign…on any part of the White House,” Earnest told reporters.

Love Island fans ‘work out’ pre-finale dumping twist – and fan favourites are ‘in danger’

Love Island fans were told to vote for which couple they feel are the most compatible – with those with the fewest votes being dumped from the Island – but there may be more…

It was another dramatic night in tonight’s Love Island, as Helena and Blu were dumped from the villa just days before the final. However, the final six can’t relax yet, as at least one more couple are about to be dumped in what appears to be the final dumping of the series.

Tonight, the Islanders took part in the Knowing Me, Knowing You challenge, hosted by Yas and Jamie. The Islanders were asked a series of questions, some light hearted, and some not so light hearted.

Despite a number of arguments, it was Meg and Dejon and Shakira and Harry who came out victorious. To the Islanders, this was just an innocent game – but fans think the producers have added a savage twist…

At the end of tonight’s episode, viewers were told to vote for who they thought was the most compatible, with those with the least number of votes at risks of being dumped just days before the final. However, fans aren’t certain it’s all in the publics hands…

Yas and Jamie placed in last place during tonight’s challenge, with Ty and Angel coming just above them. Now, fans think they’re already in danger with them proving themselves to know each other the least.

They also predict the dumped Islanders will be making a return to make the decision, just like previous seasons. Dumped Islander Giorgio previously ‘let slip’ that he was going back to Mallorca this week during an interview on This Morning.

Yas and Jamie
Fans fear for Yas and Jamie after they lost tonight’s challenge(Image: ITV)

Taking to X, formerly known as Twitter, one fan penned: “This is when the dumped islanders will come in. Yas and Jamie and Angel and Ty will be the most vulnerable.”

Another penned: “’I’ve got a feeling that those with the least amount right might be up to be dumped by the other islanders and if it is and the producers let Meg and Dejon cheat I don’t even know how anyone can say it’s not blatant favouritism. I’ll be raging.”

Others fear that Toni and Cach are in danger if the dumped Islanders come back. After Toni chose to couple up with Harrison over Cach, some of the former Islanders aren’t her biggest fans.

“GUYS VOTE TONI & CACH THEY WILL BE DUMPED BY RETURNING ISLANDERS!” exclaimed one fan, while another wrote: “We need more votes for Toni and Cach. I’m scared for them.”

There’s just two more episodes to go before the live final on Monday August 4, but who will come away victorious?

What has been the impact of Trump’s tariffs so far? | Interactive News

United States President Donald Trump’s tariffs are set to come into effect on August 1. They mark a significant escalation in US trade policy, leading to higher prices for consumers and bigger financial hits for companies.

Trump had initially postponed “reciprocal tariffs”, which he had announced on April 2, giving countries time to reach trade deals with the US.

On Sunday, US Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick said the August 1 tariffs were a “hard deadline”.

What are the August 1 tariffs?

Several countries are facing a slew of tariffs on August 1. While the situation remains dynamic, different levies are going to hit countries ranging from 15 percent on Japan and the European Union to 50 percent on Brazil.

Who has struck last-minute deals?

Trump has struck a series of bilateral trade deals in the last few days.

With the EU, the US secured $750bn in energy purchases and reduced tariffs on steel via a quota system. In exchange, it lowered auto tariffs from 30 percent to 15 percent, applying the same rate to pharmaceuticals and semiconductors.

Japan committed $550bn in investments targeting US industries such as semiconductors, AI and energy, while increasing rice imports under a 100,000-tonne duty-free quota. It will also purchase US commodities like ethanol, aircraft and defence goods.

Indonesia reportedly agreed to duty-free access for many US products and increased energy and agricultural imports, although Jakarta has only confirmed tariff cuts and key commodity purchases so far.

The United Kingdom gained aerospace and auto export benefits, while granting the US duty-free beef quotas and a 1.4 billion litre ethanol quota.

China saw its reciprocal tariffs slashed from 145 percent to the baseline 10 percent that was imposed on all countries. In addition, there’s a 20 percent punitive tariff for fentanyl trafficking. A temporary pause for the final tariff rate has been extended until August 12 while the two hammer out a deal. China matched the cut and eased non-tariff measures, resuming rare earth exports and accepting Boeing deliveries.

Deals with the Philippines, Cambodia and Vietnam also include tariff adjustments and market access, though not all terms have been confirmed by those governments.

Which sectors are expected to be hit worst?

According to a Reuters news agency tracker, which looks at how companies are responding to Trump’s tariff threats, the first-quarter earnings season saw automakers, airlines and consumer goods importers take the worst hit by tariff threats.

Levies on aluminium and electronics, such as semiconductors, led to increased costs.

“When you start to see tariffs at 20 or more, you reach a point where firms may stop importing altogether,” Joseph Foudy, an economics professor at the New York University Stern School of Business, told Al Jazeera.

“Firms simply postpone major decisions, delay hiring, and economic activity declines,” Foudy added.

Economists widely agree that the impact of tariffs implemented so far has not been fully felt, as many businesses built up their stockpiles of inventories in advance to mitigate rising costs.

In an analysis published last month, BBVA Research estimated that even the current level of US tariffs – including a baseline 10 percent duty on nearly all countries, and higher levies on cars and steel – could slow economic growth and reduce global gross domestic product (GDP) by 0.5 of a percentage point in the short term, and by more than 2 percentage points over the medium term.

Have prices increased?

According to HBS Pricing Lab reports, prices of US-made and imported goods saw modest seasonal declines through early March, with imports falling slightly more. The first 10 percent US tariff on Chinese goods (February 4) had little effect, but prices rose after broader tariffs were imposed on March 4, including a 25 percent tariff on Canadian and Mexican imports and another 10 percent tariff on China. Imported goods prices jumped by 1.2 points, while prices of domestic goods rose by half as much.

After a 10 percent global tariff was announced on April 2, “Liberation Day”, and 145 percent on China on April 10, import prices rose more sharply. A brief price dip followed the May 12 tariff rollback on Chinese goods, but trends resumed by June. Overall, import prices rose about 3 percent since March – small compared to headline tariff rates.

Have tariffs brought in money?

Trump’s tariffs have brought in revenue from higher duties paid by importers. Between January 2 to July 25, the US Treasury Department data shows that the US generated $124bn this year from tariffs. This is 131 percent more than the same time last year.

In early July, Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent said this could grow to $300bn by the end of 2025 as collections accelerate from Trump’s trade campaign.

Trump sends Witkoff and Huckabee to inspect food distribution in Gaza

President Trump’s special envoy Steve Witkoff arrived in Israel on Thursday to discuss the worsening humanitarian situation in Gaza, as the death toll of Palestinians waiting for food and other aid continued to climb.

Witkoff and U.S. Ambassador Mike Huckabee will inspect food distribution in Gaza on Friday, the White House said.

At least 91 Palestinians were killed and more than 600 wounded while attempting to get aid in the past 24 hours, the Gaza Health Ministry said Thursday. The victims included 54 people killed while awaiting food in northern Gaza near the Zikim crossing on Wednesday, the ministry said. The toll is expected to rise further as many of those killed or wounded were brought to isolated, undersupplied hospitals in northern Gaza and have not yet been counted.

Israel’s military said Palestinians surrounded aid trucks and the Israeli military fired warning shots into the crowd, but reported no awareness of injuries resulting from Israeli fire.

A security official, who spoke on the condition of anonymity in line with military regulations, said the gunfire came from within the crowd and resulted from altercations between Palestinians attempting to access aid.

Scramble for airdropped food

Scenes of desperation and chaos played out again on Thursday as scores of Palestinians ran toward food aid dropped from the air in Zawaida, a city in central Gaza. Aid providers have turned to the skies as border crossings remain closed amid severe food insecurity across the Gaza Strip.

The drops have set off stampedes and skirmishes as hungry crowds scream, fight and jostle for the parcels.

Eslam al-Telbany, a displaced woman from Jabaliya, said she was carrying a bottle of cooking oil and a sack of flour when she was attacked and bitten, ultimately dropping the items and returning home empty-handed.

“I went and my children prayed that I’d return with food. They haven’t eaten or drank anything for two days,” she said as she wept.

Ahmed al-Khatib said someone stole a bag of flour from him, and he broke a tooth in the struggle.

Rana Attia, another displaced woman, said people felt more dignified receiving text messages telling them where to collect aid rather than randomly chasing falling parcels under the scorching heat. “We don’t want them to help us that way,” she said.

‘Worst-case scenario’

Despite the airdrops, the amount of aid getting into Gaza remains far lower than the 500 to 600 trucks per day that aid organizations say are needed.

The Israeli defense body in charge of coordinating humanitarian aid in Gaza said 270 trucks of aid entered Gaza on Wednesday, and 32 pallets of aid were airdropped into the territory.

Under heavy international pressure, Israel announced a series of measures over the weekend to facilitate the entry of more international aid to Gaza. The international community has heaped criticism on Israel over the deteriorating humanitarian situation in Gaza.

International organizations said that Gaza has been on the brink of famine for the past two years, but that recent developments, including a complete blockade on aid for two and a half months, mean that the “worst-case scenario of famine is currently playing out in Gaza.”

Israel criticized by allies

German Foreign Minister Johann Wadephul arrived in Israel on Thursday on a two-day trip that will also take him to the Israeli-occupied West Bank.

Germany, traditionally a staunch ally of Israel, has been increasingly critical recently of Israel’s actions in Gaza. It has insisted that Israel must do more to increase aid supplies and pushed for a ceasefire.

Berlin hasn’t joined major allies France, Britain, and Canada in saying it will recognize a Palestinian state in September. But in a statement ahead of his departure Thursday, Wadephul underlined Germany’s position that a two-state solution is “the only way” to ensure a future in peace and security for people on both sides.

“For Germany, the recognition of a Palestinian state stands rather at the end of the process. But such a process must begin now. Germany will not move from this aim,” Wadephul said.

A diplomatic push

Witkoff, Trump’s special envoy, arrived in Israel on Thursday afternoon and met with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu about the humanitarian situation and a possible ceasefire, according to an official who spoke on the condition of anonymity to discuss sensitive matters.

It was the first meeting between Witkoff and Netanyahu since both Israel and the U.S. called their negotiation teams home from Qatar one week ago. Witkoff said at the time that Hamas “shows a lack of desire” to reach a truce.

“The fastest way to end the Humanitarian Crises in Gaza is for Hamas to SURRENDER AND RELEASE THE HOSTAGES!!!” Trump wrote on his Truth Social platform Thursday morning.

Trump sent Witkoff to the region “in an effort to save lives and end this crisis,” White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt said, calling the president “a humanitarian with a big heart.”

The war started when Hamas attacked southern Israel on Oct. 7, 2023, killing around 1,200 people and abducting 251 others. They still hold 50 hostages, including around 20 believed to be alive. Most of the others have been released in ceasefires or other deals.

Israel’s retaliatory offensive has killed more than 60,000 Palestinians, according to Gaza’s Health Ministry. Its count doesn’t distinguish between militants and civilians. The ministry operates under the Hamas government. The U.N. and other international organizations see it as the most reliable source of data on casualties.

London Heathrow reveals £49billion masterplan including much anticipated third runway, new terminal and cheaper flights

LONDON Heathrow Airport has revealed their multi-billion masterplan for the extension of the airport including the controversial third runway.

The huge project is expected to cost nearly £50million, if given the go-ahead by the government.

A third runway, new terminal and upgraded M25 access are the major parts of the projectCredit: Heathrow

The major new upgrade will be the £21billion third runway, which is set to be operational in the next 10 years.

This is the same estimation of costs predicted in 2014 of £14billion, when adjusted for inflation.

The new 3,500 metre runway will be in the northwest of the airport, and will eventually welcome up to 276,000 new flights a year.

This takes the annual flights from 480,000 to 756,000, with as many as 30 new flight routes a day.

Read more on new airports

It could even welcome more budget airlines, such as easyJet who have expressed desires to launch from London Heathrow with the expansion.

easyJet boss Kenton Jarvis said: “I’ve always thought Heathrow would fit our network of primary airports with great catchment areas.

“It would be a unique opportunity to operate from Heathrow at scale and give us an opportunity to provide lower fares for UK consumers that currently at Heathrow just have the option of flag carriers.”

The airport suggests this could save as much as £79billion over three decades with the addition of low-cost airlines.

A new £15billion terminal complex will also be built, called T5XW and T5XN.

The creation of the new terminals will also see T1 and T3 demolished, and T2 expanded, at the cost of £15billion.

London Heathrow reveal top airport security tips

In total, the entire project is expected to cost as much as £49billion.

As many as 150million passengers could then be using the airport, up from 84million.

This would make it the busiest airports in the world, overtaking Hartsfield–Jackson Atlanta International Airport’s 105million passengers.

The airport hopes to get planning permission by 2029, if ministers allow the proposal to go ahead.

Other parts of the renovation include a 50 per cent in cargo capacity, and and larger access for buses and trains.

One of the biggest concerns is the access around the M25, a notoriously busy motorway.

However Heathrow has hit back at the plansCredit: Arora Group / Bechtel

The improvement plans also include the widening the M25 near the Heathrow junctions (at a cost of £1.5billion) which will see a new section in a tunnel under the runway to reduce congestion.

A similar road layout is already in place at Charles de Gaulle Airport in Paris.

Earlier today, rival plans for a cheaper third runway were put forward.

Arora Group – a major Heathrow landowner – proposed a shorter third runway which would eliminate the need to reroute the M25.

Rather than being 3,500 metres in length, it would be just 2,800 metres.

The plans also include a new T6 terminal, with the full project estimated at £25million – half the cost of the official London Heathrow plans.

Mr Surinder Arora explained in regards to the ‘Heathrow West’ plan: “I am proud to unveil the Heathrow West proposal which meets the UK’s ambition to grow its only hub airport while delivering on time and on budget.”

He added that the Arora Group had a “track record of delivering on-time and on-budget projects including in and around Heathrow airport.”

However, London Heathrow refuted their suggestions in the their own proposal, saying “any other proposal would not have this extensive public scrutiny and policy backing, risking years of delay and judicial review which mean the Government’s timetable would be undeliverable.”

They also said that shorter runways “do not necessarily cost less” as the different location would require buying more residential properties with compensation costs not factored in.

Here’s another mega airport opening in Europe set to take on London Heathrow.

Love locks in, but big decisions linger – Taurus, August is all about knowing what (and who) you want.

Three tarot cards: Ten of Coins, The Lovers, and Queen of Wands, surrounded by small illustrations and crystals.

13

You can win whatever game you choose to play this July

Love & Relationships – Ten of Coins

All Taureans crave stability, certainty, and control- it’s hardwired into their nature.

The Ten of Coins delivers these much-sought things into your love life this August via proposals, commitments, declarations, intimate connections, legal agreements, and shared goals.

If you’re single, then a solid, loving fellow Earth sign (Taurus, Virgo, Capricorn) could enter your realm and become your ‘everything’.

A happy ever after in love awaits.

Work & Purpose – The Lovers

You feel a bit confused about your direction this August- maybe a head vs heart schism about your path or next step.

Take your time, don’t be pressured into a snap judgement.

Do the mental gymnastics and research to understand your situation, options, and potential fully, and wait until you feel clear and calm about a certain option.

And then, and only then, take decisive action.

Omen to look out for – Queen of Wands

Look out for women who inspire, excite, or wildly entertain you.

Listen to them carefully.

Look out for Fire sign folk (Aries, Leo, Sagittarius) who invite you someplace.

Look out for course, books, shows or podcasts about leadership.

If you notice one of these omens then you’re being advice, opportunity or insight that will help you to rise, take ownership, and fulfil a leadership role you’re destined for.

Gemini

Step back, learn more, and let the universe show its hand – Gemini, this month is a masterclass.

Illustration of three tarot cards: Three of Wands, Page of Coins, and The High Priestess.

13

You are rising, this is your time

Love & Relationships – Three of Wands

Step back from the pressure or expectation that it’s YOU who has to do all of the organising, fun-creation, and effort.

Let things swing as they would without your 24/7 influence, and see what’s really there.

Sometimes you do too much for others, and it’s taken for granted.

The Three of Wands shows that August will bring plenty of openings for folk to show you their true feelings and intentions towards you.

Work & Purpose – Page of Pentacles

Education is your BFF.

All Geminis love learning and studying- you never really left that school mentality.

The Page of Coins wants you back in the classroom, potentially for career (re)training, or even personal development.

Whether it’s formal or informal will depend on your circumstance and opportunity, but however you do it, seek education and stimulate your mind with new knowledge and skill.

What you learn could take you places!

Omen to look out for – The High Priestess

Look for the number 2 or repeats of it.

Look for couples who catch your eye, and ask yourself why.

Look out for psychic experiences or interludes, uncanny or strange occurrences, and notice where you were / what you were doing.

If you notice one of these omens then you’re receiving instruction from a higher being about what is important for you in relationships vs what you need to do / own / work on solo.

Cancer

See the truth, honour your intuition, and glow up – Cancer, August is a mirror and a map.

Three tarot cards: Seven of Cups, Three of Wands, and Judgement.

13

Coincidence, creativity, and collaboration

Love & Relationships – Seven of Cups

Avoid the temptation to retreat into your Cancerian exoskeleton shell and spend more time thinking, vs doing anything, about your love life and key relationships.

You can project, assume, overthink. It doesn’t do any good. Instead, verify, discuss, ask, challenge, check.

Get clarity on where you stand and take steps from that point (not what you imagine to be the case).

Work & Purpose – Three of Wands

Luck, karma and fate are conspiring to bring you new news and ideas this August, so let them do their thing and don’t get in the way!

Tune into your intuition and gut instinct (which is very powerful for you).

Notice random events or acts, coincidence, omens and signs. Pay attention to your dreams.

Decipher messages and nudges and signposting from the psychic intel you receive!

Use it and new doors will open!

Omen to look out for – Judgement

Look out the number 20 or repeats of it (maybe in year format i.e. 2025).

Look out for mirrors, reflective surfaces that show you clearly or in a flattering light.

Look out for descriptions of you, your star sign maybe, or personality type that really resonate.

If you notice one of these omens then you are being told to update and upgrade your self image.

You are more powerful, beautiful, smart, and talented than you currently think.

Get up to speed on your magnificence!

Leo

Step into your power, Leo – this month, your creativity and confidence light the way to exciting new beginnings.

Three tarot cards; Two of Wands, Knight of Coins, and King of Cups, arranged with crystals and decorative elements on a purple background.

13

You feel empowered to make those big decisions

Love & Relationships – Two of Wands

You are always popular and in demand, both in friendships, family circles, and romance.

It’s time for you to know and act on the relationship priorities that you most value and wish to serve or build.

Know your inner circle, your key folk, and treat them as such.

Don’t get distracted or taken offline by new projects or faces.

Show loyalty and commitment and it will be returned tenfold, because you ARE loved.

Work & Purpose – Knight of Coins

August, despite being holiday season, might feel like hard work for you but the rewards will all be worthwhile so keep your nose to the grindstone… and then celebrate when the job is done, you’ll feel all the better for it.

Be determined and diligent in your efforts, whether this is related to career tasks, education or personal projects.

It will be demanding, but it will also be rewarding, and that’s a happy balance.

Omen to look out for – King of Cups

Look for dreams about love and romance, and notice WHO you’re dreaming about and how you feel.

Look for instant sparks and attractions with strangers.

Look out for chance encounters with someone you’re immediately fascinated by.

If you notice one of these omens you could be meeting or about to (re)connect with your future soul mate!

If you’re single (even if you’re not…) this could be IT!

Virgo

Justice, closure, and a second chance you didn’t see coming – Virgo, it’s time to reset.

Three tarot cards: Justice, Four of Cups, and Eight of Cups, arranged with a sun carving and decorative elements.

13

Green lights all round to go for your dreams!

Love & Relationships – Justice

Play fair, be nice, stay on the straight and narrow, but don’t sacrifice yourself or your desires and needs to keep the peace either.

Balance is what is needed.

Maybe you’ve been ridden over too many times, maybe you’ve crossed lines you shouldn’t have.

Be honest and admit where there have been injustices in your close relationships recently.

What can you learn here? What could you change?

If you’re single, a beautiful Libran soul will enter your realm and perfectly suite in with your lifestyle.

Work & Purpose – Four of Cups

I think you feel a little complacent, maybe even bored or tired of your role or projects.

This happens.

We get a bit burnt out, we hit a wall, we need a change.

Use August as a refresher month.

See things with new eyes, get a fresh take on stuff, take a break and return with clear vision and a rested mindset.

If you can get away and take a complete break, then do.

You are renewing and restoring your energies.

Omen to look out for – Eight of Cups

Look for the number 8, or repeats of it.

Look for second chances, repeats, reruns, reinventions of old ideas in new guises.

Look out for memories or echoes of situations where you missed out on something but, maybe just maybe, it was for the best in hindsight.

If you notice any of these omens then you’re being given a chance.

Libra

Solitude, strategy, and a smart plan forward – Libra, this is your long game era.

Three tarot cards: The Hermit, King of Swords, and Five of Wands, surrounded by small illustrations.

13

You have everything you need; now make it work for you

Love & Relationships – The Hemit

Solitude is a great healer and restorer. A little absence makes the heart grow fonder.

Giving someone the gift of missing you is often enough to reset the dynamic and return that loving feeling.

Don’t be scared to withdraw and get some peace and quiet, don’t be nervous of creating a boundary.

The Hermit hints you need space.

You need solitude so you can think (and so can they…).

Work & Purpose – King of Swords

It’s a good month to make a 10 (or 5) year plan!

What’s the goal, the key objective? What’s the strategy to achieve it? What are the tactics and timescale?

The King of Swords brings precise thought, clarity, inspiration, and innovation to your realm, helping you future proof and create shrewd plans of attack to get where you want to be- wherever that is!

This is a planning and research month.

Omen to look out for – Five of wands

Look for the number 5 or repeats of it.

Look for the feeling of frustration and resentment, sit with it, and notice who or what it sticks to.

Look out for situations where you feel stuck / overwhelmed / done to / stagnated.

If you see any of these signs, then you’re being shown first things first, the places you’ve outgrown and can immediately withdraw from.

Act on this insight.

Scorpio

Challenge accepted – Scorpio, this month you win, lead, and love on your own terms.

Three tarot cards, Seven of Wands, Ten of Coins, and Ten of Wands, arranged on a purple surface with crystals and decorative elements.

13

A breakthrough is coming

Love & Relationships – Seven of Wands

There is competitive energy in your relationship realm, but that’s not necessarily a bad thing.

Sometimes it serves to be tested or tempted or offered a challenge which helps you rise to the occasion!

Look out for people who inspire new ideas or energy in your love life or friendships.

Look out for sparky Fire signs (Aries, Leo, Sagittarius) who motivate you to BE different.

Maybe this August’s love life move is to set your own goal or target and MAKE it happen!

Work & Purpose – Ten of Coins

If I said it would ALL be alright in the end and you’re destined for riches no matter what, then what power move would you confidently make?

Perhaps THAT is the step you’re destined to take this August.

The Ten of Coins promises a career and wealth happy ever after, as long as you stick to the plan and deliver consistently against it.

Be measured, well paced, and keep showing up, and people will believe in you, invest in you, and help you get where you want to go.

Respect is earned over time.

Omen to look out for – Ten of Wands

Look for the number 10 or combinations of it.

Look out for thins which have deflated, wilted, melted, or withered.

Notice places which look invitingly relaxing and comforting. Notice safe sanctuaries and rest zones.

If you notice one of these omens then you’re being invited to activate a phase of deep rest and hibernation- maybe for a hour, maybe for a weekend- you decide.

Rest is restorative right now.

Sagittarius

This is your month, Sagittarius – new people, powerful insights, and journey.

Illustration of three tarot cards: Ace of Wands, Judgement, and The Chariot, arranged around a sun face.

13

Assertiveness is what’s needed

Love & Relationships – Ace of Wands

It’s all new on the relationship front! New friends, admirers, family members, colleague, allies, and acquaintances.

These folk are being drawn into your life for a reason: to help you initiate new projects, roles, and growth.

It’s a time to travel with friends, plan a major life change with a loved one, embark on a new hobby in a group setting.

Look out for inspiring and charismatic Fire sign folk (Aries, Leo, Sagittarius) that you feel an immediate attraction towards.

Work & Purpose – Judgement

Judgement brings a deep and lasting sense of clarity to your realm.

You feel like you really understand your unique blend of experience, talent, skill, interest, and proven ability.

You know the niche for you!

When this is so blindingly clear, it’s so much easier to embrace that identity wholly, and to feel every inch of yourself authentically.

And this identity fit leads you to new opportunities because you’re vibrating NEXT LEVEL, attracting the opportunities meant ONLY for you.

A powerful August.

Omen to look out for – The Chariot

Look out for the number 7, or repeats of it.

Look out for unusual, outlandish, antique, or eye-catching vehicles.

Look out for trips, holidays, outings, excursions, and events that feel aligned to your emerging sense of identity and purpose.

If you notice one of these omens then you’re given a golden opportunity to travel or visit someplace that will UNLOCK vast new areas of potential for you.

Capricorn

Solo focus, big joy, and a lucky break – Capricorn, August helps you get ahead.

Three tarot cards: Queen of Swords, Three of Cups, and Three of Wands.

13

Discover your path to success

Love & Relationships – Queen of Swords

The Queen of Swords is all about solo and independent power and fortitude.

Sometimes you just so better flying solo, right?

Sometimes your own company is the best fuel and energy to help you get done what needs doing!

That’s not to say you shut off from family, love or friendship, but you MUST make time for your own projects and goals, by yourself, this August.

Your relationships will benefit from you being the best version of you!

Work & Purpose – Three of Cups

Wouldn’t it be great if work felt like play?

That’s kind of the ultimate goal, because then time becomes precious.

Time crawls when you have a job whereas it flies when you have a vocation.

Is it time to find that vocation for yourself?

The Three of Cups simply asks you to focus on, as much asp possible, what you love and enjoy doing in work or education.

Amplify the interests.

Build on success and joy, and create an awesome career.

Omen to look out for – Three of Wands

Look for the number 3, or repeats of it.

Look for coincidence and de ja vu.

Look out for invitations that come from weird or totally unexpected sources.

If you notice one of these omens then you’re being gifted a golden opportunity to do something new that will lead to a new upwards trajectory in career, education, or both.

It’s time to get lucky and get ahead.

Aquarius

Truth, talent, and total alignment – Aquarius, it’s time to create something real.

Illustration of three tarot cards: Seven of Cups, Three of Swords, and The Magician, surrounded by crystals and decorative elements.

13

New outlook = new opportunity

Love & Relationships – Seven of Cups

Overthinking rarely leads you anywhere good, useful, or worthwhile, in fact it often leads you in circles.

Pisces, make this happen in your world. It could create the strongest relationship network EVER, with you in the middle of it, beautifully supported and loved.

That is their business, not your business.

So, stop, press pause on that kind of thinking.

The world is your oyster, Pisces.

Horse racing tips: ‘He goes on any ground and arrives after a personal best’ – Templegate’s 5-1 NAP

TEMPLEGATE takes on Friday’s racing from Glorious Goodwood confident of success after banging in a 28-1 treble on Thursday.

Back a horse by clicking their odds below.

FIFTH COLUMN (2.30 Goodwood, nap)

John Gosden has a nice three-year-old on his hands in this son of Kingman. He showed promise last season and got off the mark in a Kempton maiden on comeback in April. That form was quickly left behind with a smooth handicap success at Sandown – before an excellent effort in the Britannia at Royal Ascot. He was only seventh in that hot contest but he was first home in his group getting the worst of the draw. He clocked a personal best when winning at Newmarket last time and relishes this mile trip. He goes on any ground so it won’t matter what the weather does.

BIG MOJO (3.05 Goodwood, nb)

Likes it here and can show his class in the King George Qatar Stakes.

DIEGO VENTURA (1.55 Goodwood, treble)

He is just about the only runner in the field who is proven in testing conditions – and looks set to get just that.

Templegate’s TV verdicts

1.20

KYLE OF LOCHALSH is fancied to go three better than last year’s fourth and land this marathon prize.

He’s on the same mark, handles any ground and shaped with promise on his reappearance.

He’s much more lightly raced than 12 months ago and looks primed to peak.

Aggagio loves it round here and was impressive under Ashley Lewis last time but stamina beyond 2m remains a question mark.

Align The Stars hasn’t quite fired this year but ran well in a strong Royal Ascot handicap and is lurking on a handy mark.

He has a good record here but came up short in this last year.

Tashkhan is classy and thrives in deep ground should it rain, with similar comments applying to Zinc White.

Sheradann has been knocking on the door and shapes as though this trip will suit.

Irish raider Mordor is interesting as this stamina test could bring improvement.

1.55

DIEGO VENTURA is just about the only runner in the field who is proven in testing conditions.

James Doyle’s mount has been running well at Listed level in France and scored over seven furlongs at Longchamp in May.

He then went well at Epsom before going down in a bunch finish at Chantilly last time.

Conditions will be ideal and he has more to come.

Cosmic Year has shown his best on good ground as he showed when second in the Irish 2,000 Guineas which is strong form.

The ground may not be ideal but this is a fair drop in class which makes him a player.

King Of Cities has been placed on tacky ground and sees out this trip well.

He has yet to win this season but could go well under Ryan Moore.

Seagulls Eleven was a solid second to non-runner Opera Ballo at Newmarket last time.

He’s unproven on this ground and needs a step forward.

2.30

FIFTH COLUMN can take another step up for the Gosdens.

His only defeat this season came when a strong-finishing seventh in the Britannia at Royal Ascot, where he won his group and shaped like the best horse on the far side.

He confirmed that when winning stylishly at Newmarket last time, and a 3lb penalty might not be enough to anchor this improving three-year-old who can beat his elders.

Skukuza is the main threat.

He’s officially 8lb well in after two smooth wins at The Curragh, including a Listed last time, and is clearly thriving.

Greek Order ran a screamer in the Royal Hunt Cup on his first start back from the US and again shaped well at Sandown behind Arisaig who is a contender here.

He’s a big player if things fall right. Ebt’s Guard has run well here before and wasn’t beaten far in the Royal Hunt Cup.

3.05

BIG MOJO can follow up last year’s Glorious Goodwood win in the King George Qatar Stakes.

Mick Appleby’s flyer ran a cracker at Newmarket last time and looks up to this level.

Aussie Asfoora will show her true colours here after a poor Ascot run, while She’s Quality lives up to her name.

Here’s my guide to the field, where I rate them one (worst) to five (best):

ASFOORA 4

FOOR star. Aussie raider won the King Charles III at Royal Ascot last year was just denied in this. Had excuses this year and could bounce back.

BIG MOJO 5

BIG chance. Won Molecomb here last year and has progressed at three. Unlucky in the Commonwealth Cup and ran a huge race in the July Cup. Strong claims back at 5f.

CELANDINE 2

HARD Cel. Chased home Big Mojo in last year’s Molecomb and beat Time For Sandals over 6f at York. Needs to prove she enjoys 5f as much.

CLARENDON HOUSE 1

DON for. Has run well over this C&D before but was poor at Epsom last time and needs more at this level.

FROST AT DAWN 3

HOT Frost. Won 6f Listed race earlier this season and showed real speed when second in the King Charles III at Royal Ascot. Can go close again.

JM JUNGLE 2

JUNGLE fever. Won over C&D at this meeting in 2023 and landed the Epsom Dash in June. Ran well in Listed last time but not up to this.

KERDOS 3

TAKE Ker. Fifth in this race last year and good run in the King Charles III. Likes tacky ground and cheekpieces may help.

KHAADEM 3

KHA motors. Won this in 2022 and has landed two Group 1s. He’s unbeaten in two runs here and looks a big place price.

MANACCAN 1

DANGER Man. Solid Listed performer over this trip but has been struggling for a while.

NIGHT RAIDER 3

NIGHT shifts. Unbeaten in four AW starts including a Listed 6f at Newcastle. Turf form not as hot but it’s early days.

SHE’S QUALITY 4

QUALITY pays. Ran a stormer when second in a hot Group 2 at Haydock in May. Sandown didn’t suit last time and this test looks much more suitable.

SPARTAN ARROW 2

BLUNT arrow. Has improved since sporting cheekpieces and took a French Listed prize latest. Goes well here and track/trip suits but this is much tougher opposition.

TIME FOR SANDALS 3

TIME trial. Surprise winner of the Commonwealth Cup over 6f at Ascot. Could improve again but drop in trip an unknown.

TOWN AND COUNTRY 1

TOWN and out. Few miles on the clock and is a Listed winner over this trip. Progressive but needs a lot more in this company.

3.45

SOCIALITE can get the party started.

Charlie Hills’ four-year-old can take this prize with a bold front-running show.

He quickened smartly to win at Windsor on handicap debut, shaping as though this extra furlong would suit.

Lightly raced, progressive and effective on any ground, he could prove tough to pass from a handy draw.

Liberty Lane is the main danger, with a soft-ground Cambridgeshire win and a Listed success here this year marking him out as a serious player.

Haunted Dream won this race last year and had excuses at Royal Ascot. He’s a big threat back at this track.

Godwinson is thriving after wins in the Lincoln and at Newcastle. He’ll be right there if liking this longer trip.

Fox Legacy is flying and isn’t written off provided the rain stays away.

Hulk Hogan’s cause of death, private cancer battle revealed

The cause of death for Hulk Hogan, pro wrestling icon and reality TV star, has been unveiled a week after he died at age 71.

A medical document reviewed on Thursday by The Times reveals that Hogan (born Terry Bollea) died of acute myocardial infarction, a heart attack, in other words. This reaffirms details that Florida police shared in an announcement of Hogan’s death last week. In a statement on Facebook, the Clearwater Police Department said that on the morning of July 24, it responded to a call for cardiac arrest, adding that first responders took Hogan to a nearby hospital where he was pronounced dead.

At the time, a representative for the wrestler also confirmed his death to The Times: “We are heartbroken. He was such a great human being and friend.”

The medical report, which confirmed his death was natural, also revealed that Hogan had a history of atrial fibrillation (AFib) and lived with “leukemia CLL.” The Mayo Clinic describes CLL (chronic lymphocytic leukemia) as “a type of cancer of the blood and bone marrow.” Hogan was also approved for cremation, according to the document.

Hogan gained popularity as a pro wrestler in the 1980s but expanded his legacy with endeavors in film, TV and politics. He famously broke into the national spotlight in 1983 when he signed with the WWE, formerly the World Wrestling Federation. He was known for his blond hair, dark spray tan, red and yellow ensembles and his infectious energy in the ring. He also pursued acting, with credits including “The A-Team,” “Love Boat,” “Suddenly Susan,” “Walker, Texas Ranger” and the animated “Hulk Hogan’s Rock ‘n’ Wrestling” that featured him and other WWF stars in live-action segments. His TV career also notably includes the family reality TV series “Hogan Knows Best,” which included children Brooke and Nick.

He became vocal in politics later in life. Hogan became a vocal supporter of President Trump, channeling his wrestling persona at the 2024 Republican National Convention.

“We lost a great friend today, the ‘Hulkster,’” President Trump wrote last week on Truth Social. “Hulk Hogan was MAGA all the way — Strong, tough, smart, but with the biggest heart. He gave an absolutely electric speech at the Republican National Convention, that was one of the highlights of the entire week. He entertained fans from all over the World, and the cultural impact he had was massive. To his wife, Sky, and family, we give our warmest best wishes and love. Hulk Hogan will be greatly missed!”

Also paying tribute were WWE, Vice President JD Vance, and fellow former star wrestler Jake “The Snake” Roberts. Children Nick and Brooke each paid tribute to their famous father. Last week, Nick Hogan penned an emotional Instagram tribute to his “best friend” and “best dad in the world.”

Brooke broke her silence on her father’s death earlier this week on Instagram, reflecting on their bond, which she says “has never broken, not even in his final moments.”

“I know he’s at peace now, out of pain, and in a place as beautiful as he imagined. He used to speak about this moment with such wonder and hope,” she wrote. “Like meeting God was the greatest championship he’d ever have.”

Slain NYPD officer Islam promoted to detective during funeral

July 31 (UPI) — New York’s police commissioner promoted slain officer Didarul Islam to detective during his funeral at a Bronx mosque on Thursday morning.

Thousands of police officers, local officials and mourners lined the street outside the Parkchester Jame Masjid mosque in the Bronx to honor Islam.

“Look at all the NYPD officers here and outside this mosque and across this city who stand with you,” New York Police Department Commissioner Jessica Tisch told Islam’s family while speaking at the funeral.

“I am so heartbroken for you and your family,” Tisch said.

“As we scan the sea of blue, you will notice they look a whole lot like Didarul,” she continued.

“They wear his uniform, his shield [and] his collar brass,” Tisch said.

“They carry on his purpose and are sworn to finish the work he started,” she added, “and they will be there for you, always.”

Tisch then promoted Islam to detective-first grade, which is an NYPD tradition.

Islam, 36, was among four people who were killed by Las Vegas resident Shane Tamura during a mass shooting at an office building at 345 Park Ave. in New York City on Monday.

Tamura was found dead of a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

New York City Mayor Eric Adams, Gov. Kathy Hochul and state Attorney General Letitia James were among elected officials who attended the funeral.

The funeral service started at 10 a.m. EDT, followed by prayer services at noon.

A “solid wall of blue” stood in a downpour as the hearse carrying Islam’s body from the mosque following the funeral service.

Islam’s body afterward was transferred to his family for a private burial service.

Islam had served on the NYPD for four years, was a father of two, and he and his wife were expecting the arrival of a third child.

Adams and Tisch visited the NYPD’s 47th Precinct station house on Wednesday to attend its morning roll call and talk with police officers.

Adams also visited with Islam’s family on Wednesday night.

I forked out £80k to look like a cartoon character – now I want even more surgery to achieve my goal

A WOMAN who forked out £80,000 for her dramatic plastic surgery has revealed she has no plans to stop going under the knife.

Pixiee Fox drew inspiration from cartoon characters including Jessica Rabbit and Sleeping Beauty for her transformation, but was told she would end up looking “goofy” by plastic surgeons.

On an episode of E!’s Botched, Pixiee faced plastic surgeon Terry Dubrow and Paul Nassif as she revealed she wanted to go under the knife yet again to lower her hair line to make her forehead appear smaller.

“I never really felt human, I always felt more like a fantasy creature,” she said on the show.

But when Pixiee met with the surgeons they weren’t convinced by her plans to lower her hairline.

“I am so close to becoming a real life cartoon, I need a small surgery and I’m done,” she said.

After a consultation with the doctors, they determined her previous surgeries had caused too much damage.

“I have never seen anything like this in my entire career,” Doctor Terry said.

The duo broke the news to Pixiee that they wouldn’t operate on her, but she hinted she would still go ahead with the surgery elsewhere, despite their advice.

How has Pixee Fox made herself look like a Barbie doll?

The social media star has had countless plastic surgery ops since her first procedure in 2011, transforming her body.

Pixee, who lives in North Carolina, flew to India to have her eye colour changed in a dangerous operation that is not performed in Europe or America.

She also went to Korea to have her jaw shape changed in another extreme procedure that could have left her paralysed.

She’s had several boob jobs, bringing her up to a colossal 30J, and has pumped up her bum and lips with fat from her legs and belly.

Pixee even admitted she “gave up on love” to share a home with fellow surgery addict Justin Jedlica, so they can live together as a real-life Barbie and Ken.

She’s had 200 ops, including six ribs removed, four boob jobs, two rounds of liposuction, labiaplasty, and butt lift.

And she even had her jaw broken, shaved and reset, to mimic Wonder Woman.

Pixee Fox went through the agonising op to give her a symmetrical V-shaped jawline  in June.

She’s also said to have had her nose and ears altered to make her look more like a Disney princess.

Pixiee shot to fame for her unique looks, but soon the multiple procedures started to take a toll on her health, so she decided to take a break from going under the knife.

Back in 2023 she shared an update with her Instagram followers, as she claimed her obsession with plastic surgery nearly killed her.

She said: “I was a person famous for having plastic surgery, and I have advertised doctors and the procedures they have done on me. I am making this post now because I see other girls advertising this doctor who almost ended my life.”

She added: “I am lucky to still be alive after been in a coma for more than one week. So lucky to have friends and family coming to my aid and getting me home to Sweden.”

Sandinista veteran, Ortega ally, arrested in Nicaragua corruption probe | Corruption News

Sandinista commander Bayardo Arce arrested amid corruption probe and political shake-up in Nicaragua.

Nicaraguan authorities have arrested Bayardo Arce, a senior Sandinista figure and longtime economic adviser to President Daniel Ortega, amid an escalating internal purge within the country’s ruling elite.

According to Nicaraguan media, Arce, 76, was detained early Thursday morning following a raid by dozens of police officers on his home in Managua. He had been under house arrest since Sunday, reports said.

The Attorney General’s Office, controlled by the Ortega government, announced Wednesday it had launched a corruption probe against Arce, accusing him of “illegal transactions and negotiations” related to properties and businesses allegedly tied to state interests. Prosecutors claim Arce refused to cooperate or present documentation when questioned.

His aide, Ricardo Bonilla, was arrested a day earlier for allegedly refusing to “render accounts”, officials added.

The Nicaraguan news outlet Confidencial reported that Arce’s detention is part of a broader purge being directed by Vice President Rosario Murillo, Ortega’s wife and co-ruler, with the president’s full support. Sources close to the exiled opposition believe Murillo is consolidating power in preparation for succession, as Ortega’s health visibly deteriorates.

In recent public appearances, Ortega, now 79, has appeared frail and unsteady. He is reported to suffer from lupus and kidney failure, raising speculation about who may eventually replace him.

Arce is the third prominent Sandinista veteran to be placed under house arrest this year. Henry Ruiz, another historic commander, was confined in March. Humberto Ortega, the president’s brother and a former army chief, was under similar restrictions before his death in September 2024.

Arce and Daniel Ortega were close comrades during the 1979 Sandinista revolution that toppled United States-backed dictator Anastasio Somoza. After decades in and out of power, Ortega returned to the presidency in 2007 and has remained in office through successive elections that many have criticised as undemocratic.

The arrests have sent a chilling message across Nicaragua’s political landscape, particularly among veteran revolutionaries who once stood alongside Ortega and are now facing marginalisation or detention.

Run for president? Start a podcast? Tackle AI? Kamala Harris’ options are wide open

Former Vice President Kamala Harris closed a big door when she announced Wednesday that she would not run for California governor. But she left open a heap of others.

Departing presidents, vice presidents, first ladies and failed presidential candidates have pursued a wide variety of paths in the past. Empowered with name recognition and influence but with no official role to fill, they possess the freedom to choose their next adventure.

Al Gore took up a cause in global warming, while George W. Bush took up painting. John Kerry and Hillary Clinton went on to become secretary of State, while Donald Trump fought off prosecutors, launched new business ventures and plotted his return to power. Barack and Michelle Obama grew their foundation, wrote books and started a production company — and both have done podcasts, too — while remaining prominent voices within the Democratic Party.

Of course, Harris could focus all her energy on another run for president in 2028. But how would she do that, and what would she do to remain politically relevant in the meantime? Which other paths might she choose instead?

“She just finished writing a book. She’s finally decided she’s not running for governor. But to be prescriptive about what role she’s going to play next and how it’s going to look would be premature,” said Harris senior advisor Kirsten Allen.

Experts in power and political leadership expect Harris’ next move to be something in the public eye, given she is relatively young at 60 and no doubt wants her last chapter in the spotlight to be something other than her humbling loss to Trump in the 2024 presidential election.

“Even if it isn’t the governorship of California, the idea of wanting something else other than the 2024 election to be the last thing Kamala Harris ever did would be very appealing,” said Gregory H. Winger, an assistant professor of public and international affairs at the University of Cincinnati who has studied former presidents’ lingering influence.

Winger said his research showed those “most active in trying to be influential” in their post-White House years were those whose time in office ended on a sour note, such as failing to win reelection.

“It’s kind of a frustrated ambition that then leads into higher activity,” Winger said — and Harris has that.

In her announcement about not running for governor, Harris was careful to leave her options open — framing her hopes for the future around ideals such as “fighting for the American people.”

She said she is a “devout public servant” who has long believed the best way to make a difference was to “improve the system from within.” But she also said “our politics, our government, and our institutions have too often failed the American people,” and that “we must be willing to pursue change through new methods and fresh thinking — committed to our same values and principles, but not bound by the same playbook.”

Harris said she looked forward talking to more Americans while helping to elect other Democrats.

Within 24 hours, she had announced a book deal for her forthcoming memoir, “107 Days,” which will chronicle her whirlwind 2024 presidential campaign, and her first interview since the election on “The Late Show with Stephen Colbert” on Thursday night.

Nathanael Fast, director of the Neely Center for Ethical Leadership and Decision Making at the USC Marshall School of Business, said Harris’ talk of “getting back out and listening” is consistent with her wanting to reclaim a prominent national role. That could mean another presidential run, he said, but it could also mean something else — particularly in the short term, where she has work to do recasting people’s perceptions of her.

“If she can create a compelling narrative about who she is, what she’s done, what happened in the last election and where she’s headed next,” Fast said, “she’ll be more likely to succeed.”

Fast said his bet is that she runs for president, but he could also see her going the route of Gore — who, after losing the presidential election, decided to move in a different direction to have worldwide impact by addressing climate change.

“I can imagine someone like Harris taking on artificial intelligence and saying, ‘My whole thing is trying to influence the national conversation around what’s going to happen with AI,’” Fast said.

Artificial intelligence was part of her portfolio as vice president and is a topic Harris cares deeply about, said a source familiar with her thinking who asked for anonymity to speak candidly about her next steps.

Harris also will have to tread carefully as she works to reassert her influence in the Democratic Party, which is still reeling from a second loss to Trump, experts said.

Democrats have struggled to unify the disparate elements of their party and settle on kitchen-table messaging that appeals to voters about the everyday challenges they face, said Sara Sadhwani, a politics professor at Pomona College.

After she lost to Trump, a convicted felon targeted with several other criminal investigations, “Harris exemplifies the inability to thread that needle.”

Whatever Harris does to break through, it won’t be easy in today’s saturated media and political marketplace, which is so vastly different from what other former White House occupants faced.

After he declined to run for reelection in 1928, former President Coolidge wrote a nationally syndicated newspaper column. Today, Harris would be more likely to launch a podcast — but whether it will catch on nationally is anyone’s guess.

Winger said Harris does have massive name recognition, and Fast said she has many of the important forms of “capital” for a leader to continue being successful and influential — including financial and social.

Still, “it’s tough,” Winger said. “It’s a very different media ecosystem just because of how crowded and how fractured it has become.”

Kyle Lierman, who worked for more than six years in the Obama White House, is now chief executive of Civic Nation, a nonpartisan nonprofit that houses several education, gender equity and voter initiatives — including When We All Vote, the voter initiative Michelle Obama launched in 2018.

Lierman said he is excited to see what Harris does next, as it’s likely to show her “best side.”

“When you’re at the White House, you are working on a dozen different topics every day, and you are trying to make as big an impact as possible before the clock runs out,” Lierman said. “And when you leave, you have an opportunity to step back, think longer term, and go deeper on a few issues that you’re particularly passionate about. And I think that’s liberating in some ways.”

Former Sen. Laphonza Butler, a longtime friend of Harris’, said the former vice president might draw from the blueprints laid out by her recent predecessors.

“Whether you’re talking about the Clinton Global Initiative or When We All Vote … or the work that’s happening at the Obama Foundation, I think there’s plenty of examples,” Butler said.

Many former presidents have leveraged their experience in foreign affairs — and existing relationships with foreign leaders — to continue holding sway in international relations, particularly when members of their own party return to power. President Clinton, for instance, used President Carter in that way.

Andra Gillespie, a political scientist at Emory University, said Harris could be “really effective” in bolstering organizations that work for racial justice and to elect women, but said “that’s not what she was organizing her political career around” before the 2024 election and it may not be the path she chooses now.

Gillespie said she read Harris’ statement as indicating that she was most interested in finding a way to force change outside of government. She said she could see Harris — who is already in California, and whose husband Doug Emhoff is an entertainment lawyer — moving into production and podcasts like the Obamas.

Gillespie said she also could see Harris working closely with Howard University, her alma mater in Washington, D.C., on fundraising or building out a new center of study, as Joe Biden did at the University of Delaware.

“She’s still relatively young, and still could have a good 15 to 20 years of active engagement ahead of her,” Gillespie said, “in whatever form she wants that to take.”

England vs India: Chris Woakes set to miss rest of fifth Test after shoulder injury

England pace bowler Chris Woakes looks likely to be ruled out of the remainder of the decisive fifth Test against India after suffering a shoulder injury on the opening day at The Oval.

Woakes was tumbling to make a boundary stop late on Thursday when he landed awkwardly. He went from the field with his left arm in a makeshift sling, in obvious discomfort.

The Warwickshire man is likely to have a scan overnight and England will provide an update on Friday.

“It doesn’t look great,” fellow pace bowler Gus Atkinson told BBC Sport. “I will be surprised if he takes any part in the game.”

Atkinson added: “It’s the last game of the series and when anyone gets injured it’s a shame. We’re hoping it’s not too bad. Whatever it is, he will get full support from everyone.”

Woakes was still at the ground after India closed Thursday on 204-6, undergoing treatment and assessment from the England medical staff.

It is cruel on Woakes, the only England pace bowler to have featured in every Test of the gruelling five-match series.

On flat pitches in the previous four Tests, he struggled to make a impact, taking 10 wickets. On day one at The Oval, Woakes had India opener KL Rahul play on to his stumps before suffering the injury.

Given his poor record away from home, Woakes was already facing a battle to be part of England’s squad for the Ashes tour this winter. At 36, there will be concerns this injury threatens his future in international cricket.

Woakes’ injury is also a huge blow to an England pace attack already depleted by injuries and exhaustion.

Captain Ben Stokes, England’s leading wicket-taker in this series, is missing the final Test with a shoulder injury, while Mark Wood is a long-term absentee. Olly Stone is only just returning to fitness following a knee injury.

Brydon Carse and Jofra Archer were both left out at The Oval following their previous workload in this series.

Palestinian newborns starving in Gaza as infant formula runs out | Israel-Palestine conflict News

Palestinian mothers in the Gaza Strip are desperately trying to feed their newborns as Israel’s punishing blockade on the besieged enclave has led to dire shortages of infant formula, with some resorting to filling bottles with water and whatever food they can find.

Dr Kahlil Daqran told Al Jazeera on Thursday that as supplies of formula run out, many mothers are often too malnourished to breastfeed their infants.

“In the Gaza Strip, we have thousands of children being starved because there is no milk for children under the age of two,” Daqran said.

“These children, their mothers also have malnutrition because there is no food, so the mothers cannot produce milk. Now, our children are being fed either water or ground hard legumes, and this is harmful for children in Gaza.”

Azhar Imad, 31, said she has mixed tahini with water in hopes of feeding four-month-old Joury. But she said she fears the mixture will make her baby sick.

“I am using this paste instead of milk, but she won’t drink it. All these can cause illnesses,” Imad said. “Sometimes, I give her water in the bottle; there’s nothing available. I make her caraway and herbs, any kind of herbs.”

Israel’s blockade on Gaza, which has been under Israeli military bombardment since October 2023, has led to critical shortages of food, water, medicine and other humanitarian supplies.

Local hospitals said on Thursday that at least two more deaths from Israel’s forced starvation were reported in the last 24 hours, bringing the total number of hunger-related fatalities since Israel’s war began to 159, including 90 children.

The United Nations has warned that Palestinian children are especially vulnerable as hunger grips the coastal territory, and UN officials have repeatedly called on Israel to allow an uninterrupted flow of aid supplies.

Israel has blamed the UN for the starvation crisis unfolding in the Gaza Strip, saying the global body had failed to pick up supplies.

UN officials, and several nations, have rejected that claim as false and stressed that Israel has refused to offer safe routes for humanitarian agencies to transport aid into Gaza.

Airdrops of humanitarian supplies, carried out in recent days, have also done little to address the widespread hunger crisis. Experts denounced the effort as dangerous, costly and ineffective.

Farhan Haq, deputy spokesperson for UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres, told reporters on Thursday that the UN and its partners “continue to seize every opportunity to collect supplies from the Israeli-controlled crossings and replenish those platforms with new supplies”.

Our colleagues say that, despite Israeli announcements regarding the designation of convoy routes as secure, trucks continue to face long delays that expose drivers, aid workers, and crowds to danger,” Haq said.

“The long waits are because a single route has been made available for our teams exiting Kerem Shalom [Karem Abu Salem crossing] inside Gaza, and Israeli ground forces have set up an ad hoc checkpoint on that route.”

As starvation continues to grip Gaza, more Palestinians have been killed by the Israeli military while seeking aid at distribution sites operated by the controversial Israeli- and United States-backed GHF.

A source at al-Aqsa Martyrs Hospital told Al Jazeera that at least 23 people were killed after Israeli forces opened fire at them on Thursday morning as they waited for aid near Netzarim junction in central Gaza.

The deadly incident came just hours before the White House announced that US President Donald Trump’s special envoy to the Middle East, Steve Witkoff, and US Ambassador to Israel Mike Huckabee are expected to enter Gaza on Friday to inspect the aid distribution sites.

White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt told reporters that the US officials also would meet with Palestinians to “hear firsthand about this dire situation on the ground”.

Reporting from the Jordan capital, Amman, Al Jazeera’s Nour Odeh explained that the trip comes amid growing concern in Washington that US contractors may be found liable for the deaths of more than 1,000 Palestinians killed while trying to reach GHF sites since May.

“There is a lot of pressure and insistence in Israel that those sites must continue to operate even if Israel allows more aid into Gaza,” Odeh said.

“This organisation was set up to bypass the United Nations, and Israel is not ready to let it go despite the resistance from the international community to engage with it in any way because it is accused of violating humanitarian principles.”

Hamas said in a statement released via its Telegram channel late on Thursday that it is ready to “immediately” engage in negotiations to end the war in Gaza “once aid reaches those who deserve it and the humanitarian crisis and famine in Gaza are ended”.

Meanwhile, in Gaza, countless families continue to face a desperate search for food.

Nehma Hamouda said she has struggled to keep her three-month-old granddaughter, Muntaha, alive amid the shortage of infant formula.

Muntaha’s mother was shot by Israeli soldiers when she was pregnant. She gave birth to her daughter prematurely but died weeks later.

“I resort to tea for the girl,” said Hamouda, explaining that her granddaughter cannot process solid foods yet.

“She’s not eating, and there’s no sugar. Where can I get her sugar? I give her a bit [of anise], and she drinks a bit,” she said. “At times, when we get lentil soup from the soup kitchen, I strain the water, and I try to feed her. What can I do?”

UTA and MediaLink founder agree to drop lawsuits after problematic acquisition

United Talent Agency and MediaLink founder Michael Kassan agreed to drop their lawsuits against each other, after battling over problems related to a 2021 acquisition.

“UTA and Michael Kassan have agreed to amicably end their dispute. The parties are not at liberty to comment further,” representatives for UTA and Kassan said in a joint statement on Thursday.

Terms of the agreement were not disclosed.

UTA in 2021 agreed to buy Kassan’s strategic advisory firm MediaLink in a $125-million deal. The Beverly Hills-based talent agency had hoped the acquisition would help expand its branding business.

But problems arose, with both sides accusing each other of breaching a contract. UTA alleged that Kassan’s spending was out of control and accused him of “wasting millions of UTA’s dollars on his lavish personal lifestyle.”

Kassan said that UTA was well aware of his spending habits and that his firm has continued to be profitable during its tenure within UTA. He alleged that UTA did not follow the terms of the deal, such as a promise that UTA‘s marketing group would report to him. Kassan’s attorney alleged that while UTA was benefiting from MediaLink by getting free media consulting and introductions, MediaLink was not benefiting from the relationship.

UTA, in legal filings and public statements, denied Kassan’s allegations.

In 2024, Kassan filed a defamation lawsuit against UTA’s legal counsel that a judge later dismissed.

Kassan launched L.A. consulting firm 3C Ventures in 2024.
