The best dressed football supporters revealed – where did your team rank in the style list?

IT will come as no surprise to their stylish famous fans, but Chelsea supporters are the best dressed in the Premier League.

The club’s followers are most likely to wear a smart suit for a night out, a survey has revealed.

Celebrity fans including Gordon Ramsay, Jeremy Clarkson, David Baddiel, Madness singer Suggs and actor Phil Daniels are always well turned out for a trip to the club’s Stamford Bridge home — and regular fans have followed suit.

But it’s not really a surprise, as back in the Seventies Chelsea’s players, including Alan Hudson and Peter Osgood, were known as the kings of the King’s Road for their fashionable sense of style.

And the club’s 21st-century fans have maintained the tradition, according to research by betting site freebet.com, with 16 per cent getting suited and booted for a big night.

While fans of Newcastle, Burnley and Wolves were in the relegation zone with just one per cent being bothered to look smart.

The table shows there’s a clear North/South divide when it comes to off-the-pitch style.

The top seven spots are filled by teams from London and the south, with Man City and Leeds sharing eighth place with Brentford and West Ham with five per cent.

Spokesman Tim Agnew said: “Our research shows Chelsea fans are the best dressed fans in the Premier League.

“They already had a reputation for wearing Gucci and Prada and our research confirms Chelsea fans like to look sharp.”

‘Wouldn’t p*** on him if he was on fire’ – Ex-Premier League boss slams Sky Sports legend Jeff Stelling in 8-year grudge

JEFF STELLING has been torn apart by former Southampton and Wolves boss Dave Jones over an infamous Sky Sports tirade.

The long-serving ex-Soccer Saturday host let rip at Jones and demanded his resignation during a live TV broadcast in 2017.

Jones had just led Stelling’s beloved Hartlepool United to a 2-0 defeat at home to Barnet which plunged them further into relegation danger.

A furious Stelling ranted: “This is not personal but Dave Jones, for god’s sake, for the good of the club, walk now.

“Go now. This is not your level of football. If he won’t walk, sack him.

“If it means me resigning as president, I’ll do so happily. Do it now, do it today.”

Jones was dismissed shortly afterwards but Hartlepool still dropped out of the Football League weeks later.

The 69-year-old, who also had spells with Stockport, Cardiff and Sheffield Wednesday, kept quiet about Stelling‘s outburst for years.

But he has now broken his silence in spectacular fashion.

Jones told Under The Cosh: “I wouldn’t p*** on him if he was on fire. I’d just walk away from him. Got no time for him.

“I think it was totally wrong, what he did. I don’t think there was one person who agreed with him. They just thought it was a disgrace.

“He doesn’t mean anything to me. He’s got a show but to do what? Not to criticise other people.

Sky Sports legend Chris Kamara talks to Sun man Justin Allen and reflects on days working with Jeff Stelling

“We can all criticise him when he was mumbling or didn’t do this or do that but what’s the point? I’m bigger than that.

“Put it this way, if we were in the desert and I drove past him, I wouldn’t pick him up.”

Stelling, who left Sky Sports in 2023, admitted that he may have ‘gone too far’ in berating Jones.

He told The Times: “I should have stopped when I said, ‘Please walk away Dave’, and not gone any further.”

Man Utd fans convinced Jose Mourinho could replace Ruben Amorim as interview from last season goes viral

MANCHESTER United fans and neutrals alike have revisited a video of Jose Mourinho from last year as evidence that he could be on his way back to Old Trafford.

The tongue-in-cheek comments about a return on social media come off the back of the Red Devils’ embarrassing Carabao Cup exit to League Two outfit Grimsby on Wednesday.

The iconic manager made comments last October hinting that he would be open to a return to a bottom-half Premier League side, after his Fenerbahce side secured a draw in the Europa League AGAINST Man Utd.

He told the press: “The best thing I have to do is – when I leave Fenerbahce – I go to a club that doesn’t play Uefa competitions.

“So if any club in England, from the bottom of the table, needs coach in two years – I am ready to go.

Fans across the English game this window have jumped on the bandwagon, with Leeds, West Ham, Wolves and Utd fans all linking themselves to the manager through the video on social media.

One United fan succinctly commented on the post: “So Mourinho is going back to Man Utd, innit?”

Fans are split on the Portuguese, who already spent two years at the helm at Old Trafford between 2016-18, but at least some of the Red Devils faithful would be open to the move.

Speaking on the players, one X user commented: “None of them can manage the pressure and the culture of winning. We just need Jose Mourinho back.”

Fans of other clubs have also been circling around the old clip as it circulates on X.

One Leeds fan commented:” “I don’t care if he got us relegated, this needs to happen.”

A Hammers fan added: “Feel like Mourinho and West Ham would be pure entertainment. Let it happen, fate.”

Man Utd ratings v Grimsby

MANCHESTER UNITED are at rock bottom after the biggest cup upset saw the club crash out of the Carabao Cup second-round to League Two Grimsby Town on penalties.

Ruben Amorim’s United lost to a four-tier side for the first time ever.

The home fans sang “you’re getting sacked in the morning” to Amorim throughout and you can’t help but wonder if they’re right.

Here’s how SunSport’s Katherine Walsh rated United’s flops at Blundell Park.

The beloved maverick was even linked with the Nottingham Forest job last week after news emerged of Nuno Espirito Santo‘s falling out with the club.

The 62-year-old’s CV includes spells at Chelsea, Real Madrid and Inter Milan, becoming one of the sport’s most successful managers.

He is currently causing his signature chaos as manager of Turkish giants Fenerbahce.

Wolves facing desperate fight to keep hold of Vitor Pereira as European giants ready to offer return to homeland

WOLVES face a potential fight to keep hold of boss Vitor Pereira – with Portuguese giants Benfica eyeing a move for the Molineux boss to replace one of his predecessors.

Benfica are currently in the USA for the Club World Cup, amid rumours over the long-term future of manager Bruno Lage.

Pereira managed one of Benfica’s biggest rivals in Porto from the youth teams to the senior set-up in the early 2010s

And if the Lisbon Eagles flop in the States, club President – and former Portugal midfielder – Rui Costa is ready to test Wolves’ resolve to keep Pereira after his impressive first six months at the club.

Pereira has seen the club sell both full-back Rayan Ait-Nouri and playmaker Matheus Cunha this summer, with the two Manchester Clubs paying £94.7m between them for the duo.

That came after he had stabilised the club following his arrival in place of Gary O’Neil in December.

Beer-loving Pereira, 59, steered Wolves away from the drop zone to win 10 of his 22 games in charge including a seven-match winning run in March and April that secured their Premier League status.

But the prospect of a return to his homeland – with Benfica facing two Champions League qualifying rounds in August – could tempt the former Porto and Olympiacos chief.

Pereira has not coached in Portugal since quitting Porto for Saudi side Al Ahli after leading them to the title in 2013.

His stock is high with claims that Rui Costa is not happy with Lage – despite official insistence that the coach will start next season at the Stadium of Light irrespective of what happens at the Club World Cup.

Benfica face Argentines Boca Juniors, Kiwi minnows Auckland City and Harry Kane’s Bayern Munich in the group stage, with Lage under scrutiny.

Lage, 49, and now in his second spell at Benfica, spent 15 months at the Molineux helm after replacing Nuno Espirito Santos in June 2021.

While they finished 10th in his first season – having been in the top six after 13 games – Wolves scored just 38 goals in the Prem campaign, with just two points from their final seven matches.

He was sacked in October 2022 after picking up a solitary win from the club’s first nine games before landing a job at Brazilian side Botofogo the following summer.

Lage then became embroiled in a legal spat with Botofogo owner John Textor, whose stake in Crystal Palace has threatened their chances of taking up their place in the Europa League.

Earlier this year, Lage – who returned to Benfica in September – launched a £6m suit claiming he had been promised in a “gentleman’s agreement” that he would be offered the Palace job that was given to Oliver Glasner.

While Benfica beating Sporting Lisbon on penalties to win the Portuguese League Cup, they finished two points behind their city rivals in the title race.
