Noel and Liam Gallagher are finally reuniting on stage after 16 years as their tour kicks off tonight in Cardiff – and even fans at home can get in on the rock action
Liam and Noel Gallagher are reuniting on stage tonight in Cardiff
It’s a big day for Oasis fans, with Noel and Liam Gallagher taking to the stage together after 16 years for the first stop on the band’s highly-anticipated tour. However, those who couldn’t get tickets shouldn’t Look Back in Anger – you can get involved in the Champagne Supernova from the comfort of your own home.
The BBC will be covering all things Oasis ahead of the band’s gig at Cardiff’s Principality Stadium tonight, covering the build-up to the big moment. Hosted by Jason Mohammad and Tina Daheley, the live stream will be speaking to fans across the city as well as special guests about the historic performance.

The livestream will begin at 1pm and will only be available on BBC iPlayer – however, it won’t feature any of the gig itself. We’ll see the BBC team at the Principality Stadium deliver on-the-ground reports before the gig, while after, the livestream will continue as fans give live reviews and instant reactions.
Oasis announced last August that they would be finally reuniting, with fans desperate to get their hands on tickets ever since. Over 74,000 fans will be descending on Cardiff tonight for the huge show – and the first fans have even had their tickets checked in what’s become a 24-hour queue.
One family revealed on Good Morning Britain today that they spent the equivalent of £22,000 to fly from California to Cardiff for tonight’s show – and some viewers couldn’t relate. “The old saying, ‘a fool and his money are easily parted,’ comes to mind,” one said, while another wrote: “To the Yank that spent $30,000 for him and his family to see Oasis you are a mug!”
Some ticket-holders have been camping out overnight at the Principality Stadium to grab a good spot by the stage – efforts noticed by Liam and Noel. Lorraine’s Nick Dixon revealed on the ITV show that some fans were given upgraded tickets by the band after being spotted queueing up at the stadium.
“Security rounded up the fans and moved them. We were at first wondering, ‘I hope they’re not being turfed out, they’ve got tickets,’ but actually security told me that the band spotted them and they’ve been moved to a different area – a VIP area. They’ve had a massive upgrade on their tickets which is fantastic for them. They’ve left here deliriously happy.”

What’s coming up this Diamond League season?
After stops in Eugene and Monaco, the series visits the UK for the sold-out London Diamond League on 19 July.
Injury permitting, Hodgkinson is expected to compete at the event where last summer she improved her British record to one minute 54.61 seconds.
London is also set to host the latest chapter in the 1500m rivalry between world champion Josh Kerr and Norwegian rival Jakob Ingebrigtsen.
Olympic and world 100m champion Noah Lyles, world 400m hurdles champion Femke Bol and British pole vaulter Molly Caudery are also on the entry lists, as the world’s top athletes build towards their shot at World Championship glory in Japan in September.
What is on the line in the Diamond League?
Athletes compete for points in 32 disciplines in a bid to qualify for the Diamond League Finals in Zurich in August.
That takes place just over a fortnight before the start of the World Athletics Championships in Tokyo.
All Diamond League events will be shown on the BBC, which has agreed a deal to broadcast the competition for the next five years.
The Diamond League has increased its prize money to the highest level in its history, with a total prize pot of $9.24m (£6.95m) on offer across the series.
That includes $500,000 (£375,000) at each of the 14 series meetings, and $2.2m (£1.7m) at the Diamond League final.
How does the Diamond League work?
Athletes will compete for points at the 14 regular series meetings which started in April and run through to August.
Points are awarded on a scale from eight for first place to one for eighth place.
After the 14th meeting in Brussels, the top six ranked athletes in the field events, the top eight in track events from 100m up to 800m, and the top 10 in the distances from 1500m upwards qualify for the final.
The two-day finals are a winner-takes-all competition to be crowned Diamond League champion in each event.

Michael B. Jordan in a scene from “Sinners.”
(Warner Bros. Pictures)
“Sinners” (Max, beginning Friday)
Anybody who has yet to see “Sinners”: It’s time. Ryan Coogler’s Mississippi-set period vampire horror film stars Michael B. Jordan as twin brothers who’ve come back to their hometown to open a new juke joint together. They bring their musically gifted cousin, played by Miles Caton, along for the ride. And it’s quite a ride! Audiences were so excited to see this original film that some people traveled across state lines just to catch it in Imax 70mm — in fact, the demand was so high, the genre-bending hit received a second run at these larger-than-life Imax 70mm theaters. Even a standard format showing at my local suburban multiplex was packed on a weeknight the first time I went to see it. So while my TV is a poor substitute for a movie theater, I’ll definitely be watching “Sinners” again this weekend. And in a step toward accessibility, at-home viewers have the option to watch a version with Black American Sign Language. — Tracy Brown
Andor (Diego Luna) in Season 2 of “Andor.”
(Des Willie / Lucasfilm Ltd.)
“Andor” (Disney+)
As a kid of the original “Star Wars” generation — a wide-eyed 5-year-old when “A New Hope” opened in 1977 — I often imagined what this galaxy might look like in a more grown-up light: complex, morally messy, beyond good and evil. “Andor” comes as close as anything — maybe a little too close. As compelling as its second season is, I’ve found myself needing to take it slow: In an age of endless conflict, deepening divides and the shadows of authoritarianism, it cuts deep. The season traces the brutal machinery of empire: propaganda, collaborators, betrayal and the looming massacre of civilians on Ghorman, a peaceful planet crushed for daring to protest. At the recent nationwide “No Kings” protests, some demonstrators carried “Andor”-inspired signs that read “We are the Ghor” and “The galaxy is watching.” Finishing it on the Fourth feels right — like binge-watching as an act of civic reflection. — Josh Rottenberg
A still from Netflix’s “Trainwreck: Poop Cruise.”
(Photo from Netflix)
“Trainwreck: Poop Cruise” (Netflix)
At a time when the headlines have you wondering — “Has everything gone to s—?” — we’re reminded of a 2014 maritime disaster where that sentiment very much applied. This installment of Netflix’s “Trainwreck” docuseries tells the tale of the infamous cruise ship disaster involving an engine fire on the Carnival Triumph that left 4,000 people aboard without electricity and plumbing. You can imagine where things go from there. If you always thought cruises were a terrible idea, this documentary will be validating. It’s a wild and bizarre 55 minutes that’ll forever change the way you look at lasagna. And it’ll make you ask an existential question you never thought to consider: Would you be this dramatic about pooping in red biohazard bags if you were stranded out at sea? — Yvonne Villarreal
Matt Bomer and Nathan Lane in Hulu’s “Mid-Century Modern.”
(Chris Haston / Disney)
“Mid-Century Modern” (Hulu)
Three gay men “of a certain age,” one of whom is named Bunny and played by Nathan Lane, move in together in Palm Springs under the gimlet eye of Bunny’s mother, played by the late, great Linda Lavin? Honestly, I couldn’t explain under oath why I haven’t watched this series yet. An increasingly rare multi-cam comedy filmed in front of a live audience, it promises the comfort of nostalgia — remember when you knew it was a comedy because you could hear people laughing? — and the bittersweet pleasures of lived-in lives. And though Bunny’s claim that he and his friends Jerry (Matt Bomer) and Arthur (Nathan Lee Graham) are all in the same boat life-cycle-wise (Bomer and Graham are, respectively, 22 and 13 years younger than Lane), well, “The Golden Girls” had a similar grouping and look how well that turned out. — Mary McNamara
Nathan Fielder in Season 2 of “The Rehearsal.”
(John P. Johnson / HBO)
“The Rehearsal” (Max)
Confession time: Whenever I’m preparing for an event that requires me to speak in front of a large crowd, I write it out, practice and keep the notes handy as I’m doing said activity. That’s what makes Nathan Fielder’s “The Rehearsal” refreshing — I’m not the only one who rehearses something — though he goes to some extremes with his stunts. The replica of Alligator Lounge in Season 1, which he creates so a man named Kor Skeete can reveal his education status to his trivia buddy, was nothing short of remarkable — I remember walking past the actual bar many times when I lived in Brooklyn. And the rest of the season was just as wild; one simulation has Fielder rehearsing to be a parent with Angela, a woman who is considering motherhood, leading to many awkward moments and conversations. Season 2 is no different, focusing on plane crashes and pilot communication, which sounds serious, but like the first season, Fielder takes many interesting tangents along the way. I’ll take a cue from our awards columnist Glenn Whipp, who wrote about the show, and not spoil the conclusion, but you’ll want to come along for the ride. — Maira Garcia
Crowd Scene at Live Aid on July 8, 1985, in London.

Live Aid (YouTube)
July 13, 1985, was a formative day of TV for millions of Gen-Xers, sincerity and irony swirling on the biggest concert stage imaginable. Phil Collins made a stink about flying transatlantically on the Concorde so he could play both in London and, later that night, in Philadelphia. But even though he had the No. 1 album in the country (“No Jacket Required”), now he seems like the least significant presence there.
Return to the show for its two high points: Queen somehow condensed the whole of its grandeur into 21 unforgettable minutes. It’s been called the greatest live set in rock history, but that actually happened earlier in the day when U2 played the hypnotic “Bad” and Bono leapt into the crowd to hug a fan in danger of getting crushed, photographers circling them like it was a peace summit. It was everything I wanted pop to be. My band (average member age: 14) learned the song the next day. — Joshua Rothkopf
“Superman and the Mole Men,” released in 1951, starred George Reeves as the superhero from Krypton.

“Superman and the Mole Men” (VOD)
How else can Superman rewind time without flying so fast he reverses the planet’s spin? By whisking fans back to his feature film debut in 1951’s “Superman and the Mole Men,” a kitschy adventure with an unexpectedly moving moral compass. This black-and-white indie launched George Reeves’ short and tragic career as the hero from Krypton. The producers considered it a teaser for his more famous TV series, “Adventures of Superman,” which was released the next year. The plot is simple: Clark Kent and Lois Lane trek to a rural oil town to investigate a well that’s drilled all the way to the center of the Earth. Small, hairy hominids emerge — but the twist is that Superman must protect these Mole Men from the prairie mob who want to shoot the outsiders on sight. It’s rousing to watch this classic defender of truth, justice and the American way bend guns, take bullets and huff: “I’m going to give you one last chance to stop acting like Nazi stormtroopers.” — Amy Nicholson
Damson Idris as Franklin Saint, left, and DeRay Davis as Peaches in FX’s “Snowfall.”
(Ray Mickshaw / FX)
“Snowfall” (FX on Hulu)
The race car epic “F1” is as hot as burning rubber at the box office, and is expected to bring in large crowds over the Fourth of July weekend as it re-establishes Brad Pitt as a top movie star. Pitt is joined in the winner’s circle by Damson Idris, who plays rookie driver Joshua Pearce. Idris’ star turn is a sharp departure from his portrayal of Franklin Saint, a ruthless drug kingpin in “Snowfall,” the FX drama streaming on Hulu about the rise of crack cocaine in South Los Angeles during the ‘80s. The series was one of the most popular shows in FX history, and was a vivid showcase for Idris, as Saint evolved from ambitious, charming entrepreneur to lethal thug. Although he was born in Peckham, London, Idris was cast in “Snowfall” by co-creator John Singleton, who believed that he could convincingly portray the demeanor of a youth growing up in the rough streets of South Los Angeles. When “Snowfall” completed its six-season run in 2023, the actor said in a Times interview that he was “obviously focused on movies. I want people to see me on the big screen.” — Greg Braxton
Emilia Schule stars as the titular French queen in “Marie Antoinette” on PBS.
(Caroline Dubois / Capa Drama / Canal Plus)
‘Marie Antoinette’ (PBS.org)
History’s punching bag and France’s last queen, Marie Antoinette, is reimagined as a wily, independent thinker in this inventive, lush and revisionist drama. Season 1 of “Marie Antoinette” opens in 1770, when at 14, she’s married to Louis Auguste, the Dauphin who later became King Louis XVI. The beauty of France and opulence of Versailles play a starring role though out the series, as does actor Emilia Schüle, who masterfully portrays the queen as she learns how to deal with the pressures of her role.
Released earlier this year, Season 2 finds the royal couple at the height of power but on the precipice of danger when France drops into alarming debt, the royal’s political enemies launch a misinformation war against the crown (thus the fabricated “Let Them Eat Cake!” line) and the starving masses are ready to revolt. Antoinette becomes a de facto leader when her meek husband crumbles under pressure. It’s a must for those who love a fresh takes on oft-trod chapters of history. — Lorraine Ali
A scene from “Nyaight of the Living Cat.”
(Crunchyroll)
“Nyaight of the Living Cat” (Crunchyroll, starting Sunday)
If you’ve ever watched “The Last of Us” or “The Walking Dead” and thought “this would be so much better with cats,” “Nyaight of the Living Cat” is the show for you. The anime series is set in a world where a mysterious virus turns humans into cats after they come into contact with afflicted felines, making places like cat cafés the ultimate danger zones. I can’t say I’ve ever wondered about a cat version of a zombie apocalypse, but now that this show is on my radar, I can’t wait for its premiere. And considering “nya” is Japanese for “meow,” I am hoping the show will lean into cat-related puns as it traces the fallout of this catastrophic viral outbreak. — T.B.

“Miami Vice” (VOD)
Legend has it that NBC programming exec Brandon Tartikoff scrawled “MTV Cops” on a cocktail napkin, setting the template for what became “Miami Vice.” It’s not true, but it’s a good story. Watch the two-hour pilot episode and wait for the moment, near the end, when Phil Collins’ “In the Air Tonight” comes on while Crockett (Don Johnson) and Tubbs (Philip Michael Thomas) are driving the black Ferrari Daytona Spyder en route to take down a Colombian drug lord. The lighting, the editing, the integration of images and the music … yeah, it’s “MTV Cops.” But it’s “MTV Cops” made by Michael Mann, who, as executive producer, signed off on every aspect of the series in its first two seasons, using the show as a sandbox to hone techniques and themes that would show up in his 1986 crime thriller “Manhunter” and “Heat” and pretty much everything else he has done. My son once asked me what the Eighties were like. I played him Jan Hammer’s synth-laden “Miami Vice” theme. And, yes, with the pastels, the Wayfarers and contemporary music, it’s a Reagan-era time capsule. But those first two seasons are really timeless — thrilling, ambitious, outrageous to this day. Watch the pilot and then the two-parter “Calderone’s Return.” You’ll be hooked. — Glenn Whipp
Jason Schwartzman, left, Ted Danson, Zach Galifianakis in “Bored to Death.”
(HBO)
“Bored to Death” (Max)
Before streaming ate the world, I could measure my love for a series by whether I bought the seasons on video, and I am happy to say I am the proud owner of all three seasons of this excellent, quirky, nonjudgmental 2009 comedy, starring Jason Schwartzman, Zach Galifianakis and Ted Danson. Set against, of all things, the New York literary world, it features Schwartzman as writer Jonathan Ames — also the name of the series’ creator, adapting his own “long short story” into this fairy tale of Brooklyn — who, suffering after a breakup, fueled by an excess of Raymond Chandler, white wine and pot and unable to finish a second novel, advertises himself as an “unlicensed private detective.” Adventures follow, taking the very formal, very serious Jonathan into odd corners of the city and odder corners of humanity. With Galifianakis as best friend Ray, an angry comic book artist, and Danson as other best friend George, a hedonistic magazine publisher (and later restaurateur, publishing being even then what it is), rounding out television’s greatest three-way bromance. — Robert Lloyd

From the beginning of next week, soap fans will be able to watch Emmerdale and Coronation Street via a whole new service – leaving many fans rejoicing at the news

ITV have announced a huge change to the way soap fans can watch their shows(Image: ITV)
Soap fans were both excited and confused when ITV announced a major change to their weekly output. For decades, fans have tuned in to watch new episodes of Emmerdale and Coronation Street on the channel when they air on week day evenings.
But as of Monday 30 June, fans will be able to watch new episodes from the beginning of the day as they will be available to view online hours before they transmit via traditional transmission avenues. Taking to social media on Sunday, social media channels connected to the soaps shared exciting news with fan.
The update revealed that new episodes will be available to watch via YouTube for the first time. The official Coronation StreetInstagram page announced: “Soap fans, rejoice!
“Starting tomorrow, full episodes will be available on YouTube from 7am — the same day they air on TV!” The update included an image showing Emmerdale and Corrie characters posing beneath logos of their respective soaps.
The update thus caused some confusion – as some fans thought that the cast of the soaps were being merged. One follower remarked: “I literally thought Debbie was joining Emmerdale for a moment there!”
Content cannot be displayed without consent
And others were excited to learn that they would be able to watch their favourite soaps via a new format – as many complained the ITV app is nigh on unusable.
One hopeful soap fan commented: “Nice I hate itvx with their [user interface] and 27 ads a ep.” And another commented: “This is awesome news! Yayyy!”
In recent months, ITV has announced a number of changes regarding the way Corrie and Emmerdale will be broadcast. In February it was revealed the schedule would be changed from the beginning of next year.
Emmerdale fans will also be able to watch the soap via YouTube(Image: ITV)
A statement from the broadcaster explained: “From January 2026, Coronation Street and Emmerdale will move to a new scheduling pattern on ITV1, introducing a soaps power hour from Monday-Friday, with 30 minute Emmerdale episodes at 8pm, and 30 minute Coronation Street episodes at 8.30pm. Episodes will continue to drop at 7am on ITVX, before transmission that evening.”
ITV’s Managing Director of Media and Entertainment Kevin Lygo said at the time:“The new commissioning pattern is viewer-led. We already give more choice than ever to viewers on how they watch us through ITVX and we want to present their favourite soap to them, in the most digestible way.
“In a world where there is so much competition for viewers’ time and attention, and viewing habits continue to change, we believe this is the right amount of episodes that fans can fit into their viewing schedule, to keep up to date with the shows.
“Research insights also show us that soap viewers are increasingly looking to the soaps for their pacey storytelling. Streaming-friendly, 30 minute episodes better provide the opportunity to meet viewer expectations for storyline pace, pay-off and resolution.
“Whilst viewing is growing on ITVX, we know a significant proportion of our soaps’ audience still watch us via the schedule. This new pattern is in the DNA of the soap genre – nobody else does 30 minute drama this successfully. It creates a soap power hour that’s consistent, and easy to find in the linear schedule, for the UK’s biggest soaps.
“This new commissioning pattern will mean five hours of soaps a week, rather than the current six. We are conscious this will have an impact for the people who work on the soaps team. We will support our colleagues in ITV Studios as they work through these changes, and will do what we can to mitigate the impact on our people.
“These changes are motivated by doing what we believe is best for the continuing success of these important programmes in the long term. They also create headroom in the overall programme budget for investment in programming that can help ITV grow reach in a very very competitive market.”

Which teams are favourites to win Women’s Euro 2025?
Apart from holders England and world champions Spain, former Olympic gold medal winners Germany are firm favourites to lift the trophy. Here’s a brief look at each team’s pedigree:
England: The defending champions will gain confidence from their top rank in UEFA’s rankings heading into the tournament. Under the leadership of their trusted coach, Sarina Wiegman, the Lionesses enter the tournament on the back of mixed results in their UEFA Nations League matches. The young-looking squad will lean on the experienced Lucy Bronze, who will be playing in her fourth Euro, as they look to build on the success of their predecessors.
Spain: Arguably the most exciting women’s team to watch thanks to their prowess in front of the goal, Spain are the current world champions. The women in red and gold would like to one up their men’s team of the early 2010s by winning the Euro on top of a World Cup title. La Roja have won five of their six competitive matches in 2025, scoring 21 goals in the process.
Germany: Germans are the undeniable queens of European football, having won the tournament on a whopping eight occasions, including six consecutive titles from 1995 to 2013. Also the world champions twice, they are another in-form team, having won five of their six games in 2025 with 26 goals scored and only three conceded.

Will Aitana Bonmati play in Euro 2025?
Up until Friday, Bonmati’s participation in the tournament was unquestionable as the superstar midfielder is the centrepiece of the Spanish side. However, the 27-year-old tested positive for viral meningitis and was hospitalised in Madrid.
The Spanish football federation, RFEF, however, is hopeful that the star player will return to the squad in a few days despite not being part of the contingent travelling to Switzerland on Sunday.
“After several days hospitalised with viral meningitis, Aitana Bonmati has been discharged from the hospital and will join the Spanish national team in the coming days,” RFEF said in a brief statement.
The Barcelona player, winner of the Ballon d’Or award in 2023 and 2024, posted a photo from her hospital bed on social media on Sunday, giving a thumbs-up and stating: “Fortunately, everything is going well. I hope to return soon.”
Bonmati has been pivotal for Spain, scoring 30 goals in 78 appearances and helping them win the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup and last year’s UEFA Nations League.
Gracias a tod@s por los mensajes recibidos y a l@s que me habéis ayudado estos días. Afortunadamente todo va bien, espero volver pronto. 💪🏼⚔️🧠

Who are the key players to watch at Euro 2025?
Ewa Pajor (Poland): The Barcelona forward is ranked among the world’s top strikers and has scored 43 goals in her 45 appearances for the club in the past season. She has won more than 100 caps for her country, scoring 68 goals in the process and has been named the nation’s top women’s player on five occasions. The tournament debutantes will rely on Pajor’s red-hot form to see them through to the knockouts and beyond.
Alexia Putellas (Spain): Arguably one of the greatest women to play the game, Putellas will be the mainstay of Spain’s midfield and attack as the world champions seek a third title. The Barcelona player had another incredible season for the Spanish champions, scoring 17 goals in 25 appearances to add to her control of the team’s midfield. Putellas missed out on the FIFA Women’s World Cup in 2023 and would like to make up for it with a Euro win.
Klara Buhl (Germany): The German winger has been playing for the European giants Bayern Munich since 2020 and has made 102 appearances. Making her international debut in 2019, Buhl has scored 28 goals for Germany in 67 games. She will be among the top young players at the 2025 championship.
Lauren James (England): Another bright young European footballer, James has swiftly climbed up the ranks in Wiegman’s squad. The 23-year-old will have plenty of eyes on her as she leads England’s attack in Switzerland. She scored 22 goals for Chelsea in the last season and has seven goals in 27 international appearances.

Where are the Women’s Euro 2025 venues?
From stadiums located in the heart of Switzerland’s main cities, to picturesque arenas sitting in the lap of the Alps, these are the eight venues hosting the championship:
Basel (St Jakob-Park): The venue in Switzerland’s most populous city will host five games, including the home team’s opener, the last quarterfinal and the final. The 35,000-capacity stadium was opened in March 2001 and is the home ground for the city’s eponymous team in the Swiss league.
Bern (Stadion Wankdorf): The 32,000-capacity home of the Young Boys football club was rebuilt on the site of the 1925-built Wankdorf Stadium, which hosted the famous “Miracle of Bern” FIFA World Cup 1954 final between West Germany and Hungary. It will host four Women’s Euro 2025 fixtures, including the third quarterfinal.
Geneva (Stade de Geneve): The venue was one of the co-hosts for the UEFA Euro 2008 and has also held rugby games. In the Women’s Euro 2025, the 30,000-capacity stadium will host five matches, including the first quarterfinal and the first semifinal.
Lucerne (Allmend Stadion): The glittering golden structure of the Swissporarena stands out in the city of Lucerne and is home to its Swiss Super League side. It will host three group-stage games during the tournament.
St Gallen (Arena St Gallen): The venue in the northwest of Switzerland can host close to 20,000 football fans. It will also host three group-stage games.
Sion (Stade de Tourbillon): A picturesque football venue, the Stade de Tourbillon sits amid the Alps, overlooked by two prehistoric castles. It is the smallest venue by capacity, 9,570, and will host three group-stage games.
Thun (Arena Thun): Spectators will have a view of a football match on the field and the Alps in the background when they attend one of the three group-stage games in Thun.
Zurich (Stadion Letzigrund): The Stadion Letzigrund in Switzerland’s largest city will host three group-stage fixtures, as well as the second quarterfinal and the second semifinal. The home ground for two of the city’s football clubs has a capacity of more than 24,000.

All 16 teams will receive a participation fee of 1.8 million euros ($2.1m).

All-white outfits, lush green courts, strawberries and cream, and glittering champions’ trophies at the end of two weeks.
Players and fans are gearing up for a fortnight of much-awaited tennis action as the Wimbledon Championships 2025 get under way on Monday.
From top players to unique quirks, here’s what you need to know about the tournament:
When is Wimbledon 2025 starting, and when are the finals?
The main round of the championships begins on Monday, June 30 with the men’s and women’s singles first-round matches. Here are the key dates for the men’s and women’s singles matches at the Grand Slam:
First to fourth round: June 30 to July 7
Quarterfinals: July 8 and 9
Women’s singles semifinals: July 10
Men’s singles semifinals: July 11
Women’s singles final: July 12
Men’s singles final: July 13
Where is Wimbledon played, and what’s SW19?
The third and the oldest tennis Grand Slam of the year, and the only one played on grass, attracts thousands of visitors to its famed courts at the All England Lawn Tennis and Club (AELTC) in the southwest of London, the United Kingdom.
The venue is also known as SW19, shortened from its postcode of SW19 5AG.
During the two weeks of the tournament’s main rounds, the town is bathed in the purple and green colours of the event, with shops, cafes and restaurants sporting tennis-themed decorations.
Who are the favourites to win Wimbledon 2025?
Carlos Alcaraz: The two-time champion is favourite to defend his title after winning this year’s French Open, as well as Queen’s Club Championship, a pre-Wimbledon tournament in London considered a dress rehearsal for the Slam.
Jannik Sinner: The world number one has yet to grab the Wimbledon trophy, but his rise through the rankings in the past two years and wins at two of the last three Slams make him Alcaraz’s main contemporary.
Aryna Sabalenka: The world number one may not have played a Wimbledon final yet, but has dominated the women’s rankings since October 2024 and has played in the finals of the last three Grand Slams. She won the Australian and US Open in 2024 and after losing in Roland-Garros, the Belarusian will be looking to add Wimbledon to her list of majors titles.
Marketa Vondrousova: The most in-form grass-court player and 2023 Wimbledon champion has made a swift rise in the women’s rankings over the past few weeks. Vondrusova won the Berlin Open, where she beat the likes of Sabalenka, Ons Jabeur and Madison Keys to the title. While the Czech player’s 2023 Wimbledon triumph may have been a surprise, the 25-year-old will be the one to watch in 2025.

Is there a dress code for players and spectators at Wimbledon?
Yes. All players must be dressed in white – not off-white or cream – when they step on the court for their matches. Not only should the clothes and shoes be all white, but any caps, headbands and wristbands by a player can also only be white in colour. Male players’ undergarments must also be entirely white. The organisers are more tolerant of colourful attire on practice courts.
While there is no strict dress code for the spectators, they are encouraged to dress smartly while attending matches on the Centre Court or Court Number One.
For those invited to watch a match from the Royal Box, a smart dress attire is mandatory.
The championship is often considered an unofficial fashion showpiece, especially when celebrities and dignitaries frequent the courts on the last few days.

What’s new at Wimbledon 2025?
The tournament has joined the Australian Open and US Open in replacing on-court line judges with a live electronic calling system.
Organisers say its 80 former officials will be employed this year as match assistants, with two on each court offering support to the umpire, while they will also provide backup should the electronic system fail.
What is ‘strawberries and cream’ and why is Wimbledon famous for it?
In stark contrast to the various fast food items consumed at sports stadiums around the world, Wimbledon offers its attendees a unique delicacy: strawberries and cream.
True to its name, the SW19 specialty is nothing more than juicy red British strawberries dipped in fresh cream, but the treat’s distinct combination and mass consumption year after year has made it a Wimbledon novelty.
According to the organisers, at least 7,000 litres (1,850 gallons) of cream and 28,000kg (62,000lb) of strawberries – grown specially for the tournament at a farm in Kent – are consumed during the fortnight of the championship.

Who has won the most Wimbledon titles?
Czech-American tennis great Martina Navratilova has won the women’s singles title on nine occasions and has an astonishing overall 20 Wimbledon titles to her name, including seven women’s and four mixed doubles from 1976 to 2003.
Switzerland’s Roger Federer, often regarded as the greatest men’s grass-court player, has won eight Wimbledon titles between 2003 and 2017.

How to buy tickets or join the queue for Wimbledon 2025?
The Wimbledon public ballot, held in the closing months of the preceding year, is the fans’ first and easiest means of buying tickets for the following year’s championship.
Failing that, fans have the opportunity to buy tickets on the day for the two weeks of the tournament by joining the famous Wimbledon queue.
Starting from the metal gates of the AELTC grounds, the queue snakes around Church Road and well into the public parks opposite the venue.
Fans begin queuing from late evening for the following day’s entry, which can bring them tickets for one of the main show courts or simply entry to the tournament’s premises. Tents are pitched, snacks and drinks are shared, and the long hours waiting for a chance to enter the venue are spent following the scores online or by snoozing while in queue.
“Tickets are sold on a best available, one per person queuing basis and are non-transferable,” according to the organisers, and once the capacity limit is reached, entry is only possible as people leave.

How much is the prize money for Wimbledon 2025?
The tournament’s prize money has increased by seven percent to a record pot of $72.6m in a bid to ease off pressure from the players for a bigger share of Grand Slam profits.
The winners of the men’s and women’s singles titles will each receive $4.08m, an increase of more than 11 percent on 2024, while a main draw spot is worth a minimum of $89,683, up 10 percent.
How to follow and live stream Wimbledon 2025?
The tournament will be aired to over 220 territories around the world via satellite, terrestrial and digital broadcasters.
Al Jazeera Sport will cover the men’s and women’s singles finals with its comprehensive live text and photo commentary stream.
The Mirror’s TV writer Jake Hackney joined DAZN to watch the FIFA Club World Cup for free, but the streaming platform’s other features left him impressed

The FIFA Club World Cup kicked off earlier this month, so the Mirror’s TV writer Jake Hackney set up a free DAZN account to see what all the hype is about. Like many Brits, Jake always linked DAZN with boxing, but as that’s never been his sport, he was yet to truly delve into the platform.
DAZN is now the sole global broadcaster of all 63 matches in the Club World Cup and is showing every game for free. FIFA has really pulled out all the stops with the competition, giving it a makeover with a new format featuring 32 of the world’s top clubs.
Manchester City and Chelsea are flying the flag for the Premier League, along with the likes of Real Madrid, Paris Saint-Germain, Inter Miami and Boca Juniors. The tournament runs until the final on July 13, and football fans can sign up for a free DAZN account to watch every match.
As Jake previously told the Mirror, he found it odd not watching football on the BBC or Sky Sports, but given the quality of content and amount of extras available on DAZN, he believes the streaming platform will become more associated with football in the future. Jake opted for the free account, but there’s also the option to upgrade to DAZN’s Premium plan from £9.99.
This includes every Club World Cup match in HDR picture quality and Dolby 5.1 Surround Sound, plus highlights, replays, fewer adverts and full access to the rest of the DAZN platform. But even with a free account, there’s plenty of football content to keep fans entertained in the gap between the Premier League and EFL seasons.
Watch the Club World Cup free on DAZN
The streaming service is showing all of the FIFA Club World Cup games.
What struck Jake was the sheer volume of content available beyond the live matches, with a plethora of features, shows and compilations readily accessible on the Club World Cup homepage. Interviews with big names such as Harry Kane and Pep Guardiola are featured, along with DAZN’s ‘Icons’ series, which offers an in-depth look at each team and the 12 USA host cities.
Since signing up to DAZN, Jake has found himself engrossed in the amount of documentaries focusing on football greats like Cristiano Ronaldo, Maradona and Brazilian Ronaldo. There’s a treasure trove of vintage footage showcasing all the goals scored by specific teams at previous FIFA World Cups, featuring legends like Alessandro Del Piero, Raúl and Didier Drogba.

In short, there’s a feast of content to delve into on DAZN. It’s also straightforward to keep up with the latest competition, with every forthcoming fixture displayed on the Club World Cup homepage complete with dates and kick-off times, as well as the option to view the group brackets and tables, making it simple to stay updated with the current standings.
One can track their favourite teams in the competition to receive a push notification before their games, with Jake following Chelsea and Man City. DAZN sends him reminders about each of their fixtures, though with some kicking off in the early hours, he’ll opt to watch the DAZN highlights instead.
For those who aren’t keen on adding another subscription to their list, DAZN has sublicensed a selection of matches to Channel 5, meaning 23 games will be shown on both DAZN and Channel 5. This could be a good alternative for football fans who aren’t as tech-savvy or don’t mind missing out on some games.
DAZN’s free account includes a host of interviews and documentaries(Image: DAZN/Jake Hackney)
Of course, there’s always the traditional Sky Sports package that costs £35 per month on a 24-month contract, in addition to essential Sky TV. This includes nine dedicated channels, covering the Premier League, Football, Cricket, Golf, F1, Boxing, NFL, NBA, Netball and much more, although the length of the contract might be a drawback for some.
DAZN boasts an impressive lineup of pundits for its Club World Cup coverage, including none other than Brazilian legend Ronaldo. Other big names include John Obi Mikel and Sami Khedira, with Conor McNamara, Andros Townsend, Brad Friedel, Rob Green among the commentators, offering a refreshing change from the usual voices on Sky or TNT Sports.
Jake has been using DAZN on both his Samsung smart TV and iPhone 13 and it’s performed largely well. There have been moments where it’s been slightly slow to respond and there’s been a bit of lag, but once a live game or documentary has loaded up, he has encountered no major problems.
Seven months after his blockbuster fight against 58-year-old former heavyweight champion Mike Tyson, YouTube celebrity boxer Jake Paul will return to the ring to face off against another former world champ, Julio Cesar Chavez Jr.
Chavez Jr, 39, is a former World Boxing Council (WBC) middleweight champion who hasn’t held a major boxing title in 13 years and has fought just once in the last three and a half years. He’s also had some well-documented personal problems over the last few years.
Here’s everything you need to know about the Paul-Chavez bout:
What is the date and start time for the Paul-Chavez fight?
The fight night is on Saturday, June 28, with six undercard bouts before the main fight.
The ring walk for Paul-Chavez Jr is set for 8pm Pacific Standard Time (PST) on Saturday (03:00 GMT on Sunday) and the fight will begin shortly thereafter.
Where is Paul-Chavez being held?
The Honda Center in Anaheim, California, is the venue for the fight.
It has a seating capacity of about 7,000 for boxing events.
Wasn’t Paul supposed to fight Canelo Alvarez?
In February, Paul claimed Canelo Alvarez “ducked” a fight with him to sign a lucrative four-fight deal with Turki Alalshikh’s Riyadh Season, based out of Saudi Arabia.
In a video posted to his social media account, Paul showed what he said was a contract signed by himself and Alvarez for a fight to be held in Las Vegas on May 3.
“The truth is, you (Alvarez) could be bought,” Paul said at the time. “You’re a money-hungry squirrel chasing your next nut. The truth is, these sports-washing, shady characters are paying you hundreds of millions of dollars to stop our fight from happening because they couldn’t fathom the fact that they can’t create a bigger fight than me and you.”

What problems has Chavez Jr had since becoming WBC world champion?
Chavez Jr, who last held a major boxing world title in 2012, has had a difficult time inside and outside the ring in recent years.
In November 2021, his shock defeat by split decision to 46-year-old former UFC fighter Anderson Silva in a crossover boxing match was undoubtedly the lowest – and most embarrassing – point of his professional boxing career. Coincidentally, Paul beat Silva in a fight last year.
The Mexican’s personal issues have included a lack of motivation, a repeated failure to make weight for fights, alcohol and drug addiction, an arrest for illegal possession of a firearm in his Los Angeles home and a failed drug test. At the launch of the Paul-Chavez fight in May at The Avalon in Hollywood, Paul mocked Chavez’s addiction problems as well as his “lack of mentality.”
“I’m going to embarrass him and run him down like he always does,” Paul said. “I’m going to expose him. He will be the embarrassment of Mexico. There are two things you can’t beat – me and your drug addiction.”
Who is Jake Paul?
Paul gained fame as a social media star on YouTube who turned into a boxer, and has an 11-1 record.
The 28-year-old is one of the sport’s top attractions despite not having a traditional fighting pedigree through a boxing association.
His fight last November with Tyson, which Paul won in an eight-round decision, peaked at a staggering 64 million concurrent streams on Netflix.
Jake Paul has made at least $60m since starting his boxing career, according to multiple sources.

Who is Julio Cesar Chavez Jr?
The son of Julio Cesar Chavez, a legendary three-division world champion, Chavez Jr has amassed a professional boxing record of 53 wins (34 KOs), six losses, and one draw over a 17-year career.
Chavez was crowned the WBC middleweight champion in 2011 after defeating Sebastian Zbik of Germany. He defended the title three times and was considered to be in the upper tier of middleweight boxers alongside fellow Mexican, Canelo Alvarez.
But a series of disappointing results, beginning with a loss to Sergio Martinez in 2012 through to a one-sided defeat to Alvarez in 2017, sent his career off the rails.
Chavez’s professional record is a mediocre 8-6 since 2012. Despite his many personal issues, Chavez Jr is still considered to be armed with an advanced boxing skillset that will be a step up in competition for the novice fighter Paul.

What has Paul said about the fight?
“I would say Chavez is most likely going to be the toughest opponent (I have faced yet), the most experienced, literally the most amount of fights out of all of my opponents,” Paul said during an interview with DAZN Boxing.
What has Chavez Jr said about the fight?
“Yes [I’m motivated to end Paul’s career],” Chavez Jr said on The Ariel Helwani podcast on June 18. “[I still think] that I’m better than Jake Paul, so I think after this fight maybe Jake continues to fight [and tries] to be a [better] boxer, but I don’t think he has [the] skills and everything [necessary to] win [against me]. I want to end Jake Paul’s career.”
Paul stats:
Nationality: American Age: 28 Height: 6′ 1″ (1.85m) Reach: 76″ (1.93m) Total fights: 12 Record: 11-1 (7 KOs)
Enzo Maresca’s Chelsea are facing a horror draw after losing to Flamengo and must bounce back against ES Tunis

Nicolas Jackson was shown a red card just FOUR MINUTES after coming on as a sub
ES Tunis qualified for the CWC via the Confederations of African Football rankings, after Al Ahly won the CAF Champions League three times in the qualifying period.
They could even secure themselves a shock knockout spot with an upset win against the Blues.
A stunning win over LAFC has them level on points with Chelsea in Group D.
The Blues qualified after their Champions League win in 2021 – and for the first time in the competition, will not come up against a member of the 2021 winning squad.

Shakira, 22, gushed over the footballer as she said: “He boils my blood. He’s hilarious, witty, charming and funny. And he’s not bad looking.
“So the boy I would like to couple up with is… Harry.”
Taking to X, formerly Twitter, fans went wild after spotting the move.
One joked, “Not Helena moving away from harry,” with a laughing emoji, while someone else said: “Helena moving away from Harry is just so…. #LoveIsland.”
A third chimed in with: “Shakira picked harry wow the face on helena.”
While a fourth pointed out: “how’s helena upset that harry’s moved on when she said they’re done?”
Harry, 30, was previously seen sobbing as he appeared to backtrack on his behaviour towards Helena.
The ITV2 star caused shockwaves in the villa last week when he split with his day one partner – before he attempted to pursue a third different romantic connection in the compound just hours later.
Love Island’s Harry reveals surprising encounter with A-list actress, boasting ‘I think I had a chance’
In scenes aired on last night’s Aftersun, Harry appeared to have huge regret on calling time on his connection with Helena.
A video shows him in tears as he sat with Dejon, who said if he could have it his way he would see the pair together.
Semi pro footballer Harry, with tears in his eyes, replied: “Yeah. Like, we just have nothing. Do you know what I mean?”
He then paused to dab his face and added: “Where it’s just like, we were good and then it’s just like she can’t even be around me.
“Geez. It’s just weird man.

“Like it’ll never be the same now after the way I’ve acted, do you know what I mean?”
The official Love Island account on X posted the caption: “The consequences of Harry’s antics hit home.”
Yet many thought he was having a taste of his own medicine following his lothario conduct.
One fan was quick to write: “Crying as if all of this wasn’t his own doing. Men lack accountability fr.”
A second posted: “If it isn’t the consequences of your own actions….”
A third noted: “He’s realised he’s exhausted all his options that man does not want to be with Helena,” while one agreed and put: “And tomorrow he’ll want Emily we can’t predict his next move.”
One then mused: “Some self reflection is always good.”
SNEAKY SNOG
The final nail in the coffin for Helena and Harry came after his kiss with Yasmin.
One of the highest-rated movies of all time is about to leave Netflix in just a few weeks – so movie fans need to make sure they fit this one in before it’s gone for good

Leave No Trace has a perfect score on Rotten Tomatoes – and leaves Netflix on 30 June(Image: Netflix)
You won’t want to miss this perfect scoring movie before it’s gone from Netflix – and you haven’t got long left to watch this one, because it’s going to be removed from the streaming service on June 30.
Managing to snag the elusive 100 percent score on movie review accumulator Rotten Tomatoes, Leave No Trace follows a father and daughter living deep in the forest, relying on survival skills to make it through – before they are dragged back into the real world with a jolt after being spotted by a member of the public.
The father Will, played by Ben Foster, suffers from PTSD after serving in the armed forces, and he and his daughter Tom – played by Thomasin McKenzie – struggle to adapt to normal life.
The film follows the twists and turns of their journey after being discovered by authorities living off the grid, exploring their relationship and love itself, without ever becoming overly sentimental – watch the trailer below.
Leave No Trace: Official trailer
The movie is leaving Netflix on 30 June – so you only have a week to heat up some popcorn and fire this one up, but you are unlikely to regret taking the time and spending an evening dedicated to watching this one.
Directed by Debra Granik, Leave No Trace was the hotly anticipated follow-up to Winter’s Bone, which starred Jennifer Lawrence in her breakout role, and was released eight years before in 2010.
In between Granik scored another perfect 100 on Rotten Tomatoes for her documentary Stray Dogs, about dog-lover, motorbiker, and veteran Ron Hall.
The movie follows a father and daughter living in the wilderness(Image: Netflix)
The elusive 100 percent approval rating doesn’t come along very often, only 68 films can claim the honour – and when you think about how many movies are released in the era of streaming, it makes the achievement seem all the more impressive.
Two offerings from 2024 have made the list, All We Imagine as Light by Payal Kapadia, and Wallace and Gromit: Vengeance Most Fowl.
Other famous movies that have managed a perfect score include 12 Angry Men, Toy Story, Two Story Two, Singin’ in the Rain, Before Sunrise, Cool Hand Luke, The Terminator, and Pinocchio, amongst the most famous on the list.
Reviewers were resoundingly impressed(Image: Netflix)
Leave No Trace had 252 reviews, and they were resoundingly positive, with one reviewer writing: “Leave No Trace, in the biggest of ironies, leaves the greatest of traces upon us.”
Another said, “Leave No Trace is further evidence Granik is one of the most talented directors around – and Ben Foster ranks among the finest and most intense actors working today.”
A third wrote about the movie, “Granik is one of the most distinctive filmmaking voices we have; I’d love to see her make more features but I’m also glad she takes the time to do them right.”

Emmerdale will welcome back a familiar face to the ITV soap in the coming weeks(Image: ITV)
One Emmerdale star has broken their silence on their big return to the ITV soap.
Speaking exclusively to The Mirror, actor Fred Kettle confirmed he was returning as troubled teen Dylan Penders. April Windsor’s pal will now head back to the village, months on from him fleeing to rehab after debuting in huge scenes.
Dylan and actor Fred proved an instant hit with viewers, as he took centre stage in April’s big storyline when she ran away from home. His exit earlier this year left fans gutted but now it’s been confirmed he will soon be back on the show.
Soap boss Laura Shaw had told The Mirror the return was happening prior to our chat with actor Fred. Now, we’ve got the lowdown from Dylan himself, as Fred teased trouble on the way as he makes his comeback.
He spilled: “I am so glad to be back. It is going to be a nice journey for Dylan, given his experiences. But he is going to cause a bit of bother in the village.”

Fred also shared how happy he was to have the backing of fans, after the very welcoming response to his debut earlier in the year. Now he’s ready to come back to the show, with all kinds of trouble teased as he reunites with April.
The actor also confirmed there would be some new characters tied in to his return, as teased by Laura previously. But Fred remained coy over who they would be and how they would be linked to Dylan.
He shared: “Yeah, we’ll have to wait and see. Watch this space. I can’t wait for fans to see what happens. It will be interesting to see his return and how the plot develops. But we’ll just have to watch and find out.”

She explained: “April has had an incredibly tough year with what she has been through, with the pregnancy and the homelessness storyline. Dylan didn’t leave on the best of terms with her but I think what is important is now he’s back.
“Who knows what will happen. It will be great to explore that relationship further. I think the fans want to see that which is great.” Emmerdale boss Laura had previously told us what’s ahead for Dylan.
She said: “The lovely Fred Kettle who played Dylan is coming back to the show. He is gonna be bringing his past back to the village with him and that’s going to cause huge problems for April and the family there.
“We’ve got a couple of exciting new castings who are gonna be joining us for that story, but I can’t tell you who they are yet but watch this space. It’s very exciting.”
