Streaming platform Netflix has announced a collaboration that’s set to bring additional live content to customers for no extra charge. It’s unveiled plans for a partnership with NASA, which is scheduled to launch in the coming months.

Live content from NASA+ – which launched back in 2023 – will be available internationally through Netflix from later this summer. It has said that customers will be able to stream it directly on the platform and on all memberships.

It’s been teased that fans can expect rocket launches, astronaut spacewalks, mission coverage and live views of Earth from the International Space Station. Netflix has said that the new content will be available to stream in HD.

Netflix and space agency NASA shared the news yesterday ahead of the launch. It’s been announced that the feeds will be on the interface of the streaming platform, alongside customer’s favourite shows, starting later this summer.

NASA has said that through the partnership its work in science and exploration will be “even more accessible”. It added that it will increase engagement and inspire a global audience, with Netflix said to reach more than 700 million people.

Rebecca Sirmons, general manager of NASA+, said: “The National Aeronautics and Space Act of 1958 calls on us to share our story of space exploration with the broadest possible audience. Together, we’re committed to a Golden Age of Innovation and Exploration – inspiring new generations – right from the comfort of their couch or in the palm of their hand from their phone.”

Netflix teased that the countdown has begun. It said: “Whether you’re a die-hard space nerd or someone who just really, really enjoys seeing Earth glow from 250 miles up, the countdown has officially begun.”

The streaming platform added on its Tudum site: “So go ahead, set a reminder, pop some popcorn, and tilt your screen skyward. The next giant leap for humankind might just start with you pressing play.”

Additional details and schedules are set to be announced ahead of launch. Alongside the news of the partnership, it’s been confirmed that NASA+ remains free, without ads, through the NASA app and on the agency’s website.

Netflix has said that new content will be included in all its memberships through the partnership. The streaming platform, which increased its prices for existing customers, in line with fees for new subscribers, earlier this year, currently offers three different plans for customers who are based in the UK.

Standard with adverts is priced at £5.99 per month, whilst advert-free Standard is now £12.99 per month. Premium, which includes Ultra HD and other additional benefits not included in the other two plans, is £18.99 per month.

NASA+ launched two years ago as a streaming platform for NASA, which is space agency of the US. Alongside its live content, the website currently offers programmes including documentaries like Our Alien Earth and Moon 101.

MAFS AU star Dave Hand devastated in update over dad’s cancer battle

During his stint on MAFS, Dave Hand was open about his father Howard’s struggle with cancer. Months later, the Aussie hunk shares a devastating update on his dad’s health.

MAFS star Dave Hand made waves on the E4 show - but he's determined to focus his efforts on bigger projects
MAFS star Dave Hand made waves on the E4 show – but he’s determined to focus his efforts on bigger projects

After making waves in Married At First Sight Australia, Dave Hand has revealed his father Howard is facing his own storm as his cancer has returned.

From heartbreak to healing, Dave Hand is figuring out what comes after reality TV – one step, one trial and one walk with his dog at a time.

Since leaving Married At First Sight Australia and after calling the show out, Dave has been focused on three things: his business, his family and his pooch. But the aftermath of instant fame hit him harder than he thought.

“It’s definitely a lot harder than I expected,” he says, “You’re not only thrown into TV and popularity, it’s like a whole new world. You’re just learning to walk again.”

New to the spotlight of the hit E4 show, Dave didn’t anticipate how fame would ripple into everyday life. “It plays out in everything you do,” he says. “You go out for coffee, you’re taking photos with somebody. Or you’re walking down the street and people are asking you for advice.”

What audiences saw on screen was a man entering the MAFS experiment with real intention. But behind his calm exterior, another story was unfolding. His father, Howard, was battling stage-four cancer.

“A lot of people connected with me through my dad’s sickness,” Dave says, “Cancer is a hell of a disease and it’s an eye-opener because you don’t realise how many people are going through it. It’s really nice to hear people’s stories.”

But reality TV comes with backlash. Dave says he’s experienced both the highs and lows of fan attention. “On one side, you’ve got really nice, heartwarming messages and on the other, you’ve got someone who’s so immature,” Dave says. “You choose to be mean rather than spread kindness and love. I don’t understand it.”

The online noise isn’t the only thing frustrating him. Off-screen drama between his castmates has left Dave disappointed in what could have been a supportive community.

The latest season has been one of MAFS AU’s most explosive yet – with Ryan Donnelly and Jacqui Burfoot’s feud spiralling into restraining orders and off-camera rows erupting between Jacqui, Rhi, Tim, amongst other participants.

“The cast members should be looking after one another after the show. And you’ve got people acting absolutely ridiculous towards one another. It’s a damn shame,” Dave says.

Before settling scores with on-screen rival Adrian Araouzou. “Adrian said some things about me and he absolutely copped it from the public. I feel sorry for him,” he says, “And in the meantime, he’s attacking me. This isn’t the way the group should be handling it. It’s quite scary.”

He adds: “We should be backing each other at this time and we’ve dropped the ball completely. We could have been standing up to the bad comments together.”

Dave is determined to make a difference as he teases plans to head to the UK

Tensions also brewed with Tim during filming but Dave insists that chapter is far behind him. “I’ve moved on from Tim, any anybody who’s thrown shade my way. I’m not hostile,” Dave says. “If I saw him, I’d probably say ‘G’day!’ But if someone paints you a picture, don’t let them paint you another.”

He’s also made peace with the end of his relationship with Jamie Marinos, the 28-year-old digital marketing agent he was matched with.

While Jamie fell fast – telling Dave she loved him just weeks in – he struggled to match the pace. “After the show, I’ve learned that I really want to take my time with somebody,” he says, “It takes time for me. I’m not as quick as Jamie was, falling in love after six weeks.”

He continues: “You can love somebody when things are all good and happy but when things get hard, you don’t really know who this person is. Jamie said two weeks later that she didn’t love me. I feel like she loved the idea of me or the idea of someone she wanted me to be.”

Now, Dave’s focus is back where it matters the most – his father. The cancer Howard had kept at bay during filming has returned. “The tumours my dad had on the show that had previously shrunk – they’ve come back pretty quickly,” Dave says, emotion straining his voice.

“He’s on a new trial now. Only 200 people in the world are doing it. My dad’s response for doing it is, ‘if I can help somebody out, I’m going to give this trial a crack and help the future.’”

Dave says he's no longer in touch with Jamie after the pair went their separate ways

But Dave doesn’t sugar-coat the toll it’s taken. “He’s been fighting it for five years and now it’s taken a toll on him,” Dave adds, “He’s a bit frail and now he’s got to go into battle again.”

Looking ahead, Dave is considering a bold next chapter. “I want to get over to the UK,” he says, “I’d love to do some reality TV over there. I’ll probably come out later in the year.”

As for dating? He’s in no rush. In fact, he’s more focused on mental health advocacy. “Mental health issues and depression have been in my family, I’ve witnessed it, I’ve lived it,” he says.

“But I’ve processed it, I deal with it and I know what works for me. I can help others with that. I want to get the message across that the sad days don’t stick.”

His long-term dream? A mental health charity. “I’d like to touch base on some mental health stuff and be a role model for younger kids,” he says. “I want to start a charity one day.”

Until then, Dave’s not walking alone. His five-year-old Marana dog is always by his side during his toughest days. “He’s definitely helped keep me grounded,” Dave says.

Fern Britton returned to This Morning on Thursday to promote her new ITV series

Fern Britton shared a personal update as she returned to This Morning on Thursday (June 26).

The 67-year-old is recognised for her stint presenting the acclaimed ITV daytime programme from 1999 until 2009, alongside Phillip Schofield.

Since leaving This Morning, Fern has hosted an array of other successful series, such as Ready Steady Cook and All Star Mr and Mrs, as well as participating in Strictly Come Dancing and Celebrity Big Brother.

She was back in the ITV studio today, chatting with hosts Cat Deeley and Ben Shephard about her latest project, Inside the Vet’s, which she labelled “emotional”.

She’ll be giving viewers a peek into the everyday work of The Grove Vets in Bristol, covering all aspects from routine health checks and dental work to critical operations and more.

On This Morning, Fern declared: “I found the whole thing very emotional, but so do the vets. Fortunately, we didn’t have any beloved pet who died.”

She added: “I must say, I was just blown away with how respectful the vets were to these animals who were in very insecure situations.”

The conversation then moved to Fern’s latest literary offering, A Cornish Legacy, which tells the story of a woman reconstructing her life in Cornwall – seemingly mirroring Fern’s own life.

The presenter notably relocated to the county back in 2020 after her separation from chef Phil Vickery.

Fern expressed her excitement, stating: “A Cornish Legacy came out a couple of weeks ago and it went straight to number six on The Sunday Times List, so I’m thrilled to bits with that.”

Cat went on to say: “The last I saw of you, you were sitting in your garden writing… Sitting in the garden, enjoying the Cornish countryside, listening to the birds singing.”

“It’s not too bad. Life is good,” responded Fern, before confirming that she’s currently penning her latest novel.

UK airport issues baffling passport warning after major £100m update

One of the UK’s busiest airports has resorted to issuing a seemingly bizarre warning after unveiling its new e-gates, as the hub continues with its major £100m regeneration scheme

Leeds Bradford Airport in Yorkshire, 07 June 2022.

A long-awaited revamp to a tiny UK airport has resulted in a rather strange passport warning being issued to Brits.

Earlier this month, Leeds Bradford Airport (LBA) revealed it had completed the first phase of its ambitious terminal expansion project, which is slated to cost a whopping £100 million. The upgrade boasts a host of new facilities including additional seating, two new lounges, an improved baggage reclaim area, and an upgraded passport control area.

The new terminal, which all arriving and departing passengers will go through, has 83 per cent more seating, a range of food and drink offerings including a Burger King and a new bar, as well as a brand new Six Eight One Premium Lounge. LBA chief executive officer Vincent Hodder said it was the ‘first major improvement to our terminal since its opening in 1968 and is long overdue’.

The refurb was first announced back in 2018(Image: Leeds Bradford Airport)

Details of the refurbishment were first announced back in 2018 as part of bold plans to create a new terminal at the south end of the runway. However, the original blueprints were axed several years later due to ‘excessive delays’. Buildings for the new extension then started in 2023.

Part of the upgrade also includes new e-gates – which have appeared to have sparked confusion online. In a recent TikTok video, LBA showed off the machines, which require passengers to scan their boarding pass before being allowed through automatic gates, stating: “Do you hear that? You don’t need your passport. You don’t need your passport. You don’t need your passport.”

LBA captioned the post: “You only need your boarding card (paper or digital) to go through our e-gates, NOT your passport!” However, some viewers misconstrued the post into thinking they no longer need to bring their passports along to the airport at all.

Content cannot be displayed without consent

“How would one get back [to the UK] if one never took a passport?” one person commented. Another wrote: “Oh this ain’t going to go down well when people start turning up without passports,” while a third pointed out: “Bold move from the graphic design team.” Others criticised the airport for relying on the ‘common sense’ of the public to understand the post properly.

The airport clarified in the comments section, that travellers ‘obviously’ do need a passport to leave the country, and that the post was explicitly referencing the e-gates. In a separate video, the hub joked about the confusion with a video captioned: “Can’t believe we’ve got to say this but please don’t try [and] travel without your passport…”

Speaking to the Mirror about the humorous TikTok videos, a spokesperson for LBA said: “It’s often best to take a light-hearted approach with some of the more routine airport processes that help us ensure customers are prepped and ready to travel in the best possible way. We’ve recently shared some light-hearted content to help customers use our newly installed security e-gates as well as responding to customers wanting to smoke after security.

“For most, travelling through an airport is a fun time. We want to ensure customers have the necessary information to help make their journey run as smoothly as possible.”

Major American Express update impacting British Airways customers

It was announced yesterday that only British Airways Premium Plus American Express cardholders — not those using the free British Airways American Express card — can now earn up to 2,500 tier points per year when using their card for everyday spending

A major update on British Airways’ tier points scheme has been announced.

Following the airline’s recent overhaul of its loyalty scheme, British Airways and American Express customers have been eager to find out how many tier points they can now earn with the British Airways Premium Plus Amex card.

It was announced yesterday that only British Airways Premium Plus American Express cardholders — not those using the free British Airways American Express card — can now earn up to 2,500 tier points per year when using their card for everyday spending.

The number of tier points you earn annually determines your membership level: blue, bronze, silver, or gold. Everyone starts at bronze, and can progress through the tiers based on how much they spend.

Higher-tier statuses unlock perks such as complimentary seat selection, priority check-in, additional baggage allowance, and access to British Airways’ airport lounges.

Amex cards
The change will impact some Amex holders

Here’s how many Tier Points are required for each level:

  • Bronze – 3,500 Tier Points
  • Silver – 7,500 Tier Points
  • Gold – 20,000 Tier Points

To reach silver, you could spend £5,000 on British Airways flights and holiday packages — each pound spent earns one tier point. The rest of the required points could be earned through spending on the British Airways Premium Plus Amex card, if you have one.

Here’s how the new tier point earning system works for cardholders:

  • 750 tier P=points are awarded when you spend £15,000 after enrolling in the offer.
  • An additional 750 tier points are awarded after spending a further £5,000 (total: £20,000).
  • A final 1,000 tier points are awarded after spending another £5,000 (total: £25,000).

This brings the maximum total to 2,500 tier points earned via everyday spending. If this sounds confusing, there’s more: the tier points system is separate from Avios points.

Tier points determine your membership level and associated airport perks. Avios points, on the other hand, are used to claim rewards such as free flights.

Travellers flying with British Airways or its Oneworld partners earn Avios to use toward future flights. Amex cardholders have long earned Avios on their spending. However, prior to the changes in April, cardholders could not earn tier points through everyday spending.

Here’s how Avios earning works:

  • The free British Airways American Express card earns 1 Avios per £1 spent.
  • The Premium Plus card earns 1.5 Avios per £1 spent, but has a £300 annual fee.

It’s important to note that the 2,500 tier point offer is not available to holders of the fee-free British Airways Amex Card.

If you do have the British Airways Premium Plus American Express card, make sure to enroll in the Tier Point scheme through the American Express app or website to begin collecting points.

Downtown L.A. curfew update: Exemptions for L.A. Opera, the Taper

Los Angeles city officials on Thursday carved out a curfew exemption for ticket holders of indoor events and performing arts venues downtown including the Music Center, paving the way for evening performances of Center Theatre Group’s “Hamlet” and Los Angeles Opera’s “Rigoletto.”

The news comes as Mayor Karen Bass’ 8 p.m.-to-6 a.m. curfew for the civic center area approaches its third night and arts organizations, restaurants and other businesses across the area report a drop in patrons. On Wednesday, Center Theatre Group canceled a second night of director Robert O’Hara’s world-premiere adaptation of “Hamlet” at a cost of roughly $35,000 in ticket sales per night. That’s in addition to what the company is spending on production expenses.

“At this time, Center Theatre Group, the Music Center, and the surrounding streets have not been directly impacted by protest or law enforcement activity. Our staff and artists are already on site, and we look forward to seeing you,” CTG wrote in a statement Thursday.

Major protests are planned nationwide for Saturday, when Trump’s 79th birthday coincides with the massive 250th anniversary military parade he is throwing in Washington, D.C., at a reported cost of $45 million.

One of the so-called “No Kings” protests is scheduled to take place 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in front of City Hall, prompting Center Theatre Group to cancel its Saturday matinee and evening performances of “Hamlet.” Other events scheduled for that day and night have been been postponed, including a show by the rock band Ozomatli that’s part of the Grand Performances series at California Plaza, and a Metro Art event called Bollywood Express at Union Station.

The Broad museum, adjacent to the Music Center, said it will close all weekend. “The safety and well-being of our visitors and staff continues to be our highest priority,” the museum said in a statement.

L.A. Opera, however, issued a mid-afternoon news release announcing the curfew exemption and noting that “Rigoletto,” scheduled to run from 7:30 p.m. to about 10:30 p.m. Thursday, would go on as planned. The company also is moving forward with its Saturday “Renée Fleming and Friends” concert, scheduled for 7:30 p.m.

“Attendees will need to leave the theater immediately afterward without lingering on the Music Center campus,” the release said, adding that guests may need to prove their attendance at the show if stopped by law enforcement. “All ticket holders should have their tickets with them while in the area, either printed, digital or as a screen shot of the ticket.”

The release also says that people should avoid driving through downtown from the south, where much of the military activity is centered.

A representative for L.A. Opera acknowledged that given the circumstances, ticket holders may choose not to show up. They will be allowed to exchange their tickets for one of the remaining performances June 15, 18 or 21; or they can request a refund from the box office.

Mobile users warned urgent ‘mandatory’ update affects their battery after reports of phones catching FIRE

A “MANDATORY” update is going out to some mobiles after reports of fires breaking out when charging.

While the update is important for safety, affected users will notice a knock to their battery’s capacity as a result.

Google has confirmed to The Sun that a “subset” of Pixel 6a devices will receive it “to reduce the risk of potential battery overheating”.

It comes as a number of unverified reports online that the phone caught fire when on charge.

One user shared pictures of his destroyed Pixel 6a which they say began to “shoot out hot gas” in the middle of the night as it was on charge.

“Luckily, I was able to smother the fire, then throw the still-smoking phone into the toilet before the fire spread,” Reddit user zaliver claimed.

“My wife and I are pretty shook up about it.”

A small number of other users have reported similar issues.

“The update will enable battery management features that will reduce capacity and charging performance after the battery reaches 400 charge cycles,” Google said.

“We’ll contact impacted customers next month, with all the information they need to address the issue.”

It comes only a few months after another update impacted the batteries on the Pixel 4A, though this incident affected all models and wasn’t a result of safety concerns.

Owners were offered a free replacement battery to solve the problem.

Netflix users vow to cancel subscriptions over streamer’s ‘diabolical’ new update

Subscribers have been left fuming over Netflix’s confusing new update

Netflix UI

Netflix users have been left outraged and confused by the streaming giant’s latest update to its interface.

Subscribers logging onto the service this week have discovered a new version of the app which has been rolling out globally since 19th May.

The streamer promises to showcase “better recommendations and an improved interface that highlights what matters most to you” with the new revamp.

It includes a “clean and modern” new design, alongside features such as personalised recommendations and improved shortcuts to fans’ favourite titles.

However, a substantial number of Netflix’s 300 million-strong userbase has taken to social media to slam the update, with some even promising to cancel their subscriptions.

Netflix has been rolling out a streamlined update around the world(Image: NETFLIX)

One X (formerly Twitter) user warned other subscribers: “Netflix has destroyed the app. Worst UI redesign ever. Everyone needs to cancel.”

Someone else fumed: “netflix’s update is diabolical where the hell is the coming soon section!!”

Another posted: “Whoever’s job it was to update Netflix UI, I’m praying for a resignation in the coming weeks. IT LOOKS TERRIBLE.”

And a fourth user wrote: “[…] the NEW Netflix Update has somehow made the UI like 10000x worse.

“It hurts my brain when I try and search new shows etc. Am I overreacting or do others not like the new UI?”

Discussion continued over on Reddit where Netflix users were equally baffled by the change.

One Redditor commented: “It’s awful. My TV updated to it automatically this week after putting off the update for ages, now it’s a load of rubbish. Will be cancelling [my] subscription.”

And another user agreed: “It’s soo dire. You can’t find anything.

“It was so slick and easy to use before. Now it’s soo clunky. I’m always willing to try new ideas, but this is a big step backwards.”

Fans have launched a petition to return to the old UI(Image: NETFLIX)

They then admitted: “Thinking I might actually now cancel my subscription.”

Fans have even gone so far as to launch a change.org petition demanding Netflix returns to the old interface.

The description claims: “The new layout only allows users to see a sparse selection of 3 or 4 titles per screen, compared to the previously user-friendly layout of 20 or more titles.

“This change not only limits variety and accessibility but also diminishes the ease-of-use Netflix was renowned for.”

Netflix’s chief product officer Eunice Kim explained the change back in May: “We wanted to create an experience that was more flexible for our broad entertainment offerings, more intuitive and responsive to our members’ needs, and capable of elevating the most thrilling moments on Netflix.”

Furthermore, not all Netflix users have criticised the change, with one Reddit user saying “it’s still better than the majority of streaming services.”

Plus, fans can now find more info about their favourite shows, from the synopsis and runtime to major award wins, its history in the streamer’s Top 10 and the key cast.

Netflix also maintains that it’s still possible to search by genre and theme, and remind streamers that a welcome message should walk them through the changes when they log on.

M&S issues update for customers with gift vouchers after cyber attack

MARKS and Spencer has issued an update for customers with gift vouchers after its cyber attack.

Customers have taken to social media to share their dissatisfaction with the retailer’s latest update.

Shoppers outside a Marks & Spencer store.

It comes as the ongoing chaos has left scores of M&S shoppers unable to use their gift vouchers.

Yet the retail giant initially told customers they won’t get extensions of the expiry dates on vouchers due to expire.

One customer took to X, pleading: “My vouchers expire at the end of this month but I can’t use them. Can I have them extended?”

But M&S responded: “Unfortunately we’re unable to extend vouchers.”

They later appeared to soften, agreeing to “double check” on the customers behalf.

Last month, shoppers also said they’d hit a brick wall.

One couple revealed on the MoneySavingExpert forum that they’ve been saving up vouchers from their M&S credit card for months, only to be told they’d have to use them now or lose them entirely.

The customer posted: “We contacted M&S Customer Support which bluntly said that if we didn’t use the vouchers by their expiry date then that was tough.

“The only option we have is to spend them on something we don’t really need.”

They added that M&S stores aren’t even able to place orders, meaning customers can’t just pop in and buy bigger items either.

Victoria’s Secret forced to take down website over ‘security incident’ leaving shoppers in the dark

Even staff are reportedly unable to order stock, with fears some branches could start running out of essentials altogether.

Some stores have even been stripped of staples like bananas and Colin the Caterpillar cakes, and popular meal deals were pulled in smaller branches

An MSE forum ambassador said: “Given the number of people this may affect, perhaps thousands as you suggest, I would expect M&S to extend the end date for these.”

While another shopper fumed: “The least they could do is extend the date.”

M&S credit card reward vouchers are valid for 17 months, while shoppers with gift cards have 24 months from the last transaction to spend them.

When The Sun contacted M&S, it advised affected customers to get in touch – but didn’t confirm whether it would offer extensions on a case-by-case basis after all.

A M&S spokesperson said: “The majority of M&S credit card customers redeem their reward vouchers in stores, and they can continue to do so.

“If for any reason customers aren’t able to redeem in store, and their vouchers are due to expire soon, we would ask them to get in touch with us so we can support them.”

Meanwhile, the attack is still causing carnage across the business.

M&S was forced to pull online orders, birthday perks were suspended, and Sparks offers were frozen.

The store has now confirmed that some freebies, like birthday cookies, will still be honoured eventually.

But when it comes to Rewards Vouchers — a perk many customers save up to use for larger purchases — the answer so far is a hard no.

The cyber attack, which kicked off over Easter weekend, has been one of the worst to hit the high street in years.

It has forced M&S to halt online orders and triggered widespread disruption, including a £300million blow to profits.

Customer info was also nicked during the breach, with security experts now blaming “Scattered Spider”— a notorious cyber gang thought to be behind the chaos.

Online shopping is still out of action and is expected to remain patchy until at least July, with fashion, home and beauty sales taking a battering.

Timeline of the attack

  • Saturday, April 19: Initial reports emerge on social media of problems with contactless payments and click-and-collect services at M&S stores across the UK. Customers experience difficulties collecting online purchases and returning items due to system issues.
  • Monday, April 21: Problems with contactless payments and click-and-collect persist. M&S officially acknowledges the “cyber incident” in a statement to the London Stock Exchange. CEO Stuart Machin apologises for the disruption and confirms “minor, temporary changes” to store operations. M&S notifies the National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC) and the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) and engages external cybersecurity experts.
  • Tuesday, April 22: Disruptions continue. M&S takes further systems offline as part of “proactive management”.
  • Wednesday, April 23: Despite earlier claims of customer-facing systems returning to normal, M&S continues to adjust operations to maintain security. Contactless payments are initially restored, but other services, including click-and-collect, remain affected.
  • Thursday, April 24: Contactless payments and click-and-collect services are still unavailable. Reports surface suggesting the attackers possibly gained access to data in February.
  • Friday, April 25: M&S suspends all online and app orders in the UK and Ireland for clothing and food, although customers can still browse products. This decision leads to a 5% drop in M&S’s share price.
  • Monday, April 28: M&S is still unable to process online orders. Around 200 agency workers at the main distribution centre are told to stay home.
  • Tuesday, April 29: Information suggests that the hacker group Scattered Spider is likely behind the attack. Shoppers spot empty shelves in selected stores.
  • Tuesday, May 13: M&S revealed that some customer information has been stolen.
  • Wednesday, May 21: The retailer said disruption from the attack is expected to continue through to July.

Meanwhile, M&S isn’t the only store facing cyber trouble.

Co-op was forced to shut down part of its IT system after facing a hacking attempt last month.

It confirmed that it had “taken proactive steps to keep our systems safe”.

It was later revealed that the personal data of a “significant number” of its 6.2million customers and former members had been stolen.

The details included names, contact information, and dates of birth.

However, the retailer assured customers that passwords, credit card details, and transaction information were not compromised.

Full services resumed on May 14, following the reactivation of its online ordering system.

Dodgers injury update: Mookie Betts nears return, Tyler Glasnow stalls

The Dodgers’ lineup should be back at full strength soon.

When they’ll be able to say the same about their pitching staff is anyone’s guess.

First, the good news for the team: After fracturing the fourth toe on his left foot (the one closest to the pinky toe) last week and missing all three games against the New York Yankees, shortstop Mookie Betts went through a full slate of pregame hitting, baserunning and defensive drills on Monday and seemed probable to be available off the bench for the Dodgers in their series-opener against the New York Mets.

Assuming he continues to feel good, Betts should also return to the starting lineup on Tuesday, manager Dave Roberts said.

“That’s all contingent on if he recovers well tonight,” Roberts said.

Based on Betts’ activity level Monday, he certainly appeared to be ready to return. As one of the first Dodgers players on the field before the game, he spent several minutes running the bases, then went through a full session of infield grounders at shortstop. Betts also took batting practice, a day after Roberts said his swing in the batting cage “wasn’t compromised at all” by the freak injury.

“For me, I just want to make sure I move to make plays for those guys,” Betts said Sunday. “Hitting, hopefully that comes along. I just want to make sure I can play defense.”

As for the less encouraging update: A week after throwing his first bullpen session since going on the injured list in April with shoulder inflammation, Tyler Glasnow has been feeling general body discomfort, Roberts said.

Glasnow has continued to play catch, including on Monday afternoon in the outfield of Dodger Stadium. But Roberts said he is “not sure when he’s gonna get back on a mound.”

“There was one ‘pen, and then [his] body didn’t respond,” Roberts said. “So we’re trying to figure out when we can ramp him back up.”

Given Glasnow’s extensive injury history, such a setback qualifies as only mildly surprising. The 31-year-old has never made more than 22 starts or pitched over 134 innings in a major league season. And while he set both of those high-marks in his first season with the Dodgers last year — arriving in Los Angeles via a trade from Tampa Bay two winters ago and an ensuing five-year, $136.5-million extension — he never returned from an elbow tendonitis injury he suffered in August, despite repeated attempts to comeback in time for the playoffs.

“I know he’s just as frustrated as we all are [that] the process since we’ve had him, it just hasn’t been linear, as far as getting him back,” Roberts said. “He’s champing at the bit, so that’s a good thing. He’s very anxious to get back out here and help his team.”

Of the Dodgers’ injured quartet of star pitchers — which also includes Blake Snell, Roki Sasaki and Shohei Ohtani — Glasnow was initially expected to return first.

Now, however, he and Snell might be on more similar timelines. Snell made notable progress in his throwing progression this week and could begin throwing bullpens early next week.

“He’s in a really good spot physically and mentally,” Roberts said of Snell.

Sasaki has also been throwing lately, though Roberts noted it has been low-intensity. Ohtani, meanwhile, threw his second live batting practice over the weekend, and remains on track to return sometime after the All-Star break.

In the bullpen, the Dodgers should get a couple of reinforcements in the coming days.

Hard-throwing right-hander Michael Kopech (out since the start of the season with a shoulder injury) will be in Los Angeles this week after completing a minor-league rehab assignment, though exactly when he will be activated remains to be seen. Kopech yielded 11 runs and 11 walks in 6 ⅓ innings with triple-A Oklahoma City, and Roberts said the club wants to “evaluate, see how he is” up close before having him make his MLB season debut.

Another veteran right-hander, Kirby Yates, threw his second bullpen session on Monday since suffering a hamstring strain last month. He will next throw a live batting practice on Wednesday, and could be activated as soon as next weekend.

It’s a tense week in Emmerdale next week as the police are closing in on Nate’s death after the discovery of his body – but will the truth ever be revealed?

John questioned by police Emmerdale

Fans may not yet have recovered from last week’s shock events in Emmerdale, but there’s much more to come next week – as spoilers for the ITV soap tease more drama ahead.

After Robert Sugden’s shock return, the village was rocked once again with Cain, Caleb, Chas and Ruby terrified about the revelation that a body has been found at the bottom of the lake. After learning the body had been there for months – they were left panicking that the body was Anthony’s.

However, this week it’s set to be revealed that it’s Nate’s body in the river, with a guilty John questioned about the day Nate disappeared. But OF COURSE he’s got a plan…

John Sugden
John is questioned over Nate’s death

When the interview is over, John hopes he’s said enough to protect Cain – who voices his suspicions that Tracy is responsible for the death of Nate.

Obviously venting after Cain’s accusation, Tracy tries to defend herself. John tries to comfort Cain reassuring him the police will find something else to focus on soon, as he formulates a plan. What does John have up his sleeve?

Things later escalate when the police arrive at Tug Ghyll with a search warrant – where they find Nate’s phone in Frankie’s playhouse leaving Tracy distraught as she’s taken in for questioning.

Mandy Paddy Eve
Mandy and Paddy are left in a panic when they realise Eve has been left in danger

With all eyes on her, an innocent Tracy desperately needs an alibi as she tells police she was at her sister Vanessa’s the day Nate was supposed to leave for Shetland. But will her sister corroborate?

Away from the Nate drama, Mandy and Paddy are left panicking when they find out Bear has left Eve in danger when he promises the littlun some sweets.

However, things take a dangerous turn when Eve gets her hands on Bear’s sleeping tablets, leaving Mandy and Paddy horrified. Will Eve be okay?

Tracy and Ruby fight
Things get heated between Tracy and Ruby

Elsewhere, there’s fury for more villagers, as Jacob is left furious when finds out Sarah hasn’t told Charity about her cancer. And there’s even more drama with Tracy as she ends up in a heated exchange with Ruby – in which she ends up slapping her across the face. But what is it about?

It seems Gabby is the only villager having a good week next week, as Vinny heads over to Kammy for help to win her back over after forgetting the anniversary of their first kiss. She’s left delighted with the romantic scenes, and Vinny’s all smiles when he realises his plan is coming together.

However, Kammy’s good deeds don’t last long when he’s heard organising to sell Clemmie’s stolen phone…

Emmerdale airs weeknights at 7:30pm on ITV1 and ITVX, with an hour-long episode on Thursdays. * Follow Mirror Celebs and TV on TikTok , Snapchat , Instagram , Twitter , Facebook , YouTube and Threads .

Coronation Street star Samia Longchambon has confessed that the soap’s recent significant change marks “the end of an era”.

With nearly 65 years of captivating audiences, Coronation Street has solidified its place as a British television institution, having drawn in over 20 million viewers per episode during its peak.

Two of the show’s longest-serving and most beloved stars, Helen Worth and Sue Cleaver, have been instrumental in its enduring success, boasting an impressive combined 75 years on the iconic cobbles.

In a poignant turn of events, both soap legends have decided to bid farewell to Coronation Street within months of each other. Helen, 74, was the first to announce her departure last June, expressing her gratitude for working alongside “fantastic actors, directors and a brilliant crew”.

She reflected: “The past 50 years have flown by and I don’t think the fact that I am leaving has quite sunk in yet.”

Following Helen’s emotional Christmas Day exit, Sue Cleaver joined her in leaving the show to explore new projects. A fan favourite since her debut, Sue’s departure has been deeply felt, reports Belfast Live.

In an interview with Prima magazine, their former co-star Samia Longchambon shared her thoughts on the recent goodbyes: “Saying goodbye to Helen Worth (Gail Platt) after her 50 years was really emotional. But I completely agree with her that she deserves a rest now.”

Meanwhile, she noted that the exit of Sue marked a poignant moment as they had both started on the show in the same month.

She expressed: “It was weird saying bye to Sue (Cleaver, who played Eileen Grimshaw), too, because we actually joined the same month and her dressing room was next door to mine, and then Mikey North moved into it.”

Acknowledging the departure of two key players, she conceded that it represented a significant turning point for the soap: “So it did actually make me think, ‘God, that’s the end of an era’.”

The much-anticipated final appearances of Eileen on the beloved programme will broadcast next week, culminating after distressing events including the loss of her sister, Julie Carp (portrayed by Katy Cavanagh). Eileen decides to start anew, accepting Jason’s invitation to settle in Thailand with him and invest in his business endeavor.

Good Morning Britain paused as Susanna Reid shares ‘devastating’ Liverpool update

Good Morning Britain star Susanna Reid shared an update after a car ploughed into crowds celebrating Liverpool’s Premier League victory parade

Good Morning Britain star Susanna Reid delivered “horrific” breaking news on Tuesday (May 27).

At the top of the programme, Susanna reported that four children were among those injured at yesterday’s Liverpool FC parade.

A man, aged 53, has been taken into custody following an incident where a car struck several pedestrians in Liverpool city centre during the Premier League victory parade.

Eyewitness accounts and videos circulating on social media depict the vehicle ploughing through a crowd, causing people to flee the scene.

The police have stated that the incident is not being treated as terror-related and appears to be an isolated event, reports Bristol Live.

“Our breaking news this morning is that we now know that four children were among the dozens injured yesterday as a people carrier was driven into crowds celebrating Liverpool’s Premier League victory parade,” Susanna began.

Good Morning Britain
Susanna Reid announced breaking news minutes into Tuesday’s (May 27) show

“Firefighters had to lift up the vehicle to rescue a child, who was among four people trapped underneath it.”

Ed Balls chimed in: “The Prime Minister has paid tribute to the city’s unity, saying Liverpool stands together and the whole country stands with Liverpool.”

Chief correspondent Richard Gaisford was reporting live from Liverpool, while Nitya Rajan was stationed outside Alder Hey Children’s Hospital.

Before airing a pre-recorded segment, Richard issued a cautionary note to viewers. Following this, Nitya provided details about the injuries sustained in the incident.

“One child out of the four that were injured has sustained serious injuries,” she confirmed.

Back in the studio, Susanna Reid and Ed Balls discussed the heart-wrenching impact of the incident on the community.

Good Morning Britain

“Devastating scenes there. Of course, everyone thought that they were celebrating something joyful,” Susanna said.

“This parade was miles long, and initially people would not have realised what happened in Water Street if they had already drifted off in other directions.

“Obviously, your heart goes out to everyone injured, those who saw what happened, people would have been really devastated witnessing that, but everyone else in the parade thinking it was one of the best days of their life, and all that’s come over that now is just awful.”

Ed added: “It’s so particularly upsetting for this to happen in Liverpool. They were denied a parade during the pandemic when they won the league. Liverpool has faced such terrible football hardship over the years.

“For this to happen again and on the day when they’re celebrating such a dramatically brilliant win in the Premier League is really unfair. It’s terrible.”

Iconic car brand boss gives major update on merger with rival as firms say EV push is slashing sales

THE BOSS of an iconic car brand has revealed a major update on its merger with a rival, as the company admits the EV push is hurting sales.

Despite rumours of a potential tie-up between Stellantis and Renault, both companies have denied seeking a partnership.

John Elkann, Stellantis Chairman, told the Financial Times: “We are not discussing any merger.”

Management at the automotive giant has been turbulent following the resignation of the former CEO, Carlos Tavares, who they still haven’t replaced.

The automotive giant currently oversees many carmakers such as Peugeot, Fiat and Vauxhall.

However, Stellantis has several underperforming brands, such as Chrysler, described as “a shadow of its former self,” according to motor1.com

Another failing car manufacturer is Abarth, which has seen revenues drop during its push to go fully electric.

This has caused major concern at Stellantis, adding to the company’s decision not to get involved in a massive merger.

Last year, the Auto conglomerate recorded a 12 per cent drop in shipments, which they blamed on “temporary gaps in product offerings”.

On the other hand, the Renault group reported their highest sales.

The two major companies share a common ground regarding the future of cars in Europe.

Both share concerns over strict emission regulations negatively impacting their profit and production of gas-powered city cars.

Fiat 500e production paused

The European Union recently granted automakers an extension to meet their emission targets.

However, by 2030, stricter regulations will come into force, banning the sale of new cars with harmful emissions across the EU.

This comes after Europe’s second-largest carmaker halted production of an iconic model as its EV lineup faces “deep trouble”.

An initial manufacturing break at Stellantis has now been extended as bosses report a collapse in demand for electric cars.

The Fiat 500 was one of the vast company’s most successful and beloved models across two production runs lasting a collective 35 years.

Dating back to 1957, it has sold more than six million units between its two iterations.

However, the 500e, unveiled in 2020 as an electric alternative, has proved less popular.

The model is intended as the long-term successor to the 500 beyond the 2035 ban on petrol and diesel car sales.

But stuttering demand has now forced a pause in its production.

The latest data suggest that both the petrol and electric 500 sol 74,885 units from January to July.

That’s almost a quarter down on the same period last year.

Bosses told Autocar that poor sales were “linked to the deep difficulties experienced in the European EV market by all producers.”

They have also reportedly told union reps that the electric car segment is facing “deep trouble” more generally.

Fiat CEO Olivier François said: “We obviously, like everyone else, thought that the world would go electric faster and the cost of electrification would go down faster.

“But we couldn’t imagine that Covid would happen, shortage of raw materials would happen [and] the European Society – not all, not the youngest part – would turn their backs on the sustainable solutions.

“But this is the reality. We have to face those realities.”

Anthony Joshua to undergo surgery THIS WEEK as Eddie Hearn reveals ‘encouraging’ update with ‘big tease’ Tyson Fury

ANTHONY JOSHUA is to have surgery on his elbow THIS WEEK – as talks to finally fight “big tease” Tyson Fury move a step closer.

Joshua, 35, is yet to return since his September knockout defeat to Daniel Dubois, 27, with a secret injury delaying his comeback.

AJ has since revealed the setback was caused by a problem with his elbow – which promoter Eddie Hearn reveals is due to be fixed this week.

Hearn told SunSport: “He just goes back into camp and just can’t fire on all cylinders consistently.

“So he can go back, have a couple of sessions, bit of soreness in the elbow.

“They tried to let it rest and recover and they’ve told him that I think it’s this week, he has a small keyhole surgery in the arm.

“Clear out, and it’s four-six weeks, he’s good to go. So I think we’re looking post-September.”

Following Joshua’s loss and Fury’s double defeats to Oleksandr Usyk, 38, last year, it set up the beaten Brits to finally settle their overdue score.

That was until Fury announced a shock retirement – the fourth of his career – in January only one month after Usyk won their rematch.

But the unpredictable Gypsy King has since ended his social media silence to begin hinting at a comeback – leaving Hearn hopeful.

The promoter said: “Tyson Fury is a big tease, every day I open up Instagram like today and he’s got his wraps on saying he’s done 12 rounds.

“He looks super fit, Tyson Fury, he looks like he’s ready to go now! Which is encouraging, but obviously probably the delay that AJ’s got is a blessing, to be honest with you.

“One, you’ve got Usyk against Dubois coming up so that gives you a little bit of time.

“And number two, you’ve got Tyson Fury who could potentially come back to the ring so it’s gonna be interesting to see what plays out.”

Turki Alalshikh’s introduction to boxing and his deep Saudi pockets have helped bridge the gap between Hearn and long-time rival Frank Warren.

The previously warring promoters even share the sports streaming platform DAZN now – paving the way for talks between AJ and Fury.

Hearn admitted: “I’d be lying if I said we haven’t discussed it socially, because obviously everyone’s desperate to make it happen.

“But, no one said, ‘Oh, I think it’s coming, I think he’s coming back.’ But at the same time, he’s training.

Tyson Fury is a big tease, every day I open up Instagram like today and he’s got his wraps on saying he’s done 12 rounds. He looks super fit, Tyson Fury, he looks like he’s ready to go now! Which is encouraging

Eddie Hearn

“And I feel like with Tyson Fury over the years, you’ve seen him not training and balloon out of shape and then it takes him a long time to come back.

“Now it looks like he’s either ready to fight or he’s ready to begin camp, which is hugely encouraging. But I just don’t think he’ll be able to leave it alone, if I’m honest with you.

“Because, the money’s one thing, but just the occasion and the challenge, and he’s a competitor, he’s a winner. And I just can’t believe he’s gonna let it slide.”

While Fury is Joshua & Co’s main target, Hearn warned they will await the result of Dubois’ July 19 rematch with Usyk at Wembley.

Hearn is adamant AJ will fight before the year ends – with or without Fury.

He warned: “Next couple of months, if there’s no movement, we fight.

“I mean there’s no way AJ’s not fighting this year. So who that will be? I can’t tell you.

“I mean, that’s the million dollar question at all times, but I think more importantly is, do we get any news from Fury in the next four, six, eight weeks?

“If we do, we’ll fight him this year. If not, we’ll fight and then maybe he comes back next year, who knows?

“But I’d be lying if I said we weren’t desperate to see him return. But, at the same time we can’t just wait around and see what happens.”
