Emmerdale star ‘confirms’ Corrie crossover appearance ahead of ‘sad’ soap exit

Emmerdale’s Celia Daniels star Jaye Griffiths may have just confirmed she will feature in the soap’s big crossover with Coronation Street next year, dubbed Corriedale

Another Emmerdale character may have been confirmed for the looming soap crossover with Coronation Street.

Weeks on from Danny Miller being confirmed to take part as his character Aaron Dingle, alongside Corrie’s Lisa Swain played by Vicky Myers, another star has declared “watch this space”. With no details yet confirmed about the big episode, it’s yet to be announced who exactly is involved and why.

But teasing what was ahead for villain Celia Daniels, actress Jaye Griffiths, who plays the character, hinted she would be involved. After recently confirming an exit would be on the way for her sinister character, she’s now teased she will pop up in Corriedale.

Asked about whether we may see her popping up in Weatherfield, Jaye dropped a massive hint that this could well happen. She shared: “Watch this space. She has fingers in many, many pies.”

She also addressed whether a comeuppance was on the cards for Celia, who is currently running a drugs operation in the village with the help of her ‘son’ Ray Walters. Only recently we learned the pair were also exploiting people including Bear Wolf in a sickening modern slavery plot.

But Jaye hopes that Celia can get away before she gets caught out, as she hinted she could end up doing the same thing somewhere else, like she did before her move to the village. Wanting her to “escape and flee”, Jaye shared: “Her comeuppance is she’s lonely.

“She has a penthouse you never see because she’s never in it, she’s too busy. What is her life? What does she enjoy? She has all this money in the bank and yet she does nothing.

“She doesn’t have any friends and she manipulates everyone she meets and it’s quite a lonely existence.” Explaining how Celia gets away with what she’s done every time, she added: “She just moves on, sets up somewhere else.”

Jaye also confessed Celia would never throw Ray under the bus, while she doesn’t completely trust him. She explained: “He’d have to be so disloyal to her that she simply cannot envisage it. So it might theoretically happen, but no.”

Spoilers for next week confirm that Celia finally finds out Bear is related to Paddy Kirk. Jaye said: “It is mildly infuriating that yet again, Ray has mucked up. Locals have families, locals are known, locals are missed so we don’t touch them with a 10 foot disinfected bargepole.”

When April Windsor ends up telling her dad Marlon Dingle about her ordeal too, Celia is forced to take action. Jaye teased: “What that means is she will have to explain to them in no uncertain terms what their new reality is.

“April would have brought this on her own family, it’s April’s doing. Celia warned her what would happen and now it will happen. Celia doesn’t do threats, empty or otherwise. She just states realities and consequences, and the consequence of this is now I own your family. They should be very scared.”

Emmerdale airs weeknights at 7:30pm on ITV1 and ITVX, with an hour-long episode on Thursdays. * Follow Mirror Celebs and TV on TikTok , Snapchat , Instagram , Twitter , Facebook , YouTube and Threads .

Key EastEnders star hints at plans to join rival soap

Legendary actress Nina Wadia, who is best known as Zainab Masood in hit soap EastEnders, could be going up north for a new role

Albert Square legend Nina Wadia is setting her sights on bagging herself a new job on Coronation Street having played Zainab Masood on EastEnders for six years before leaving the soap in 2013.

Nina told The Daily Star: “I’d love to tread the cobbles. That would be a lot of fun. When you’re on a soap, you get the chance to develop your character during a workshop at the start. Then because you’re living the character, you find out more about them.

“I haven’t been offered any soap roles lately, but who knows what will happen? I know a couple of the Corrie cast but I wouldn’t put them under pressure to help me get a role!”

Nina joined EastEnders in 2007 and her acting credits include Goodness Gracious Me, The Vicar of Dibley and Holby City. She has secured even more impressive acting roles in recent years on shows including The Sandman, The Outlaws and Midsomer Murders and there are more are set to be released.

Her most recent acting credit came in 2023, when she starred as Binta Prabhu in former BBC screen staple Doctors before it was eventually cancelled.

Outside of her TV work, she has also turned to radio and theatre work, making her first panto appearance in 2023 playing Fairy Sugarsnap in Jack and the Beanstalk in York.

During her stint in panto, she shocked audiences as she was able to help her niece get engaged during the course of one of her shows. Reflecting on the experience, she told the BBC: “I felt so privileged to be a part of my niece’s love story.”

Nina added she is used to working long hours as an actress and thanks to her six years playing feisty Zainab Masood on EastEnders.

But despite not actively looking to join a different soap, she has said she is prepared to push herself if they right role comes up for her.

Speaking about how passionate she feels about her work, Nina admitted that working on a soap is “very busy” but she “loves” hard work and that is what she thrives on.

Away from acting, Nina has tried her hand at reality TV too, she entered the Strictly Come Dancing ballroom in 2021 but was unfortunately the first to be voted out.

Coronation Street star breaks silence after abrupt soap exit

A Coronation Street favourite has addressed his shock exit from the ITV soap after it emerged his final scenes had already aired without an announcement from show bosses

Coronation Street star Jack Carroll has broken his silence from his abrupt exit from the soap earlier this summer. The 27-year-old actor joined the ITV cast in 2023 as Bobby Crawford, the half nephew of Carla Connor and son of convict of Rob Donovan, and was last seen on screen in May this year heading off on holiday.

In June, viewers learned the character had left Weatherfield for good during a conversation with Lauren Bolton and Betsy Swain. Despite speculation that Jack wasn’t going to return to set, confirmation of the low-key departure left some viewers shocked, and the actor has now revealed how he feels about the way it went down.

As well as saying he was “grateful” that Bobby wasn’t permanently killed off, the former Britain’s Got Talent star explained that he was actually happy to leave without any drama or scandal.

“That seems to be the trend in the way that they do exits now, it’s a bit more low key because it gives everybody a bit more flexibility if you need to arrange some pieces of the jigsaw in the future,” he told The Sun.

In June, a source told The Mirror that “the time has come” for Bobby to bid farewell, adding, “Actor Jack enjoyed his time on the soap, but it’s time to move on. Viewers won’t see the character exit the street as he’s already left, with Jack filming his final scenes some time ago.”

Bradford-born Jack first found fame as a comedian when he appeared on the seventh series of Britain’s Got Talent at 14, finishing up in second place.

He first appeared on Coronation Street in 2023, when his character Bobby came to stay with his aunt Carla, the half maternal sister of his dad Rob, who was previously convicted of the murder of Tina McIntyre.

Elaborating on his exit after 18 months, Jack, who has cerebral palsy, said he was excited to return to his comedy routes and put the spotlight back on disability in a positive manner.

He also praised the Coronation Street writers for “distilling down” the essence of his stand-up persona when he filmed his early scenes, adding: “That’s probably a good primer on what to expect as well, if you come and see me on the tour.”

Given his character is alive and well and was spared a gruesome end on the show, Jack also said he wouldn’t rule out a return, and said he was grateful that any future decisions hadn’t been taken off the table completely.

He added that the “circumstances would have to be right” and he couldn’t imagine a reason why he’d say no if the opportunity to step back onto the cobbles arose.

Soap star who become country singer hints at huge comeback after 10 years

EXCLUSIVE: Twinne-Lee Moore played Porsche McQueen in Hollyoaks over a decade ago and the actress turned singer has hinted at a potential return for a reunion with her on-screen family

Hollyoaks could set to welcome back a familar face to the fictional village.

Twinnie-Lee Moore played Porsche McQueen from Novemebr 2014 until December 2015.

The character highlighted the issues of sexual abuse in children and other storylines included a failed marriage when her husband had various affairs.

During her time on the Channel 4 soap, Twinnie-Lee was nominated for the British Soap Award for Best Newcomer and an Inside Soap Award in 2015 for her powerful portrayal.

Since leaving Hollyoaks, Twinnie-Lee has swapped Yorkshire for Nashville to embark a career as a country pop singer-songwriter.

However, the TV star has hinted that a return to Hollyoaks could be on the cards after catching up with her on-screen family at the soap’s 30th anniversary celebration last month.

Speaking to Reach PLC, Twinnie-Lee said: “It’s been a whole decade and it’s so lovely to see everybody.

“The McQueens are obviously my favourite family and I was very honoured to be part of it and it brings back a lot of memories.”

When asked about a potential Porsche McQueen comeback, she added: “You’ll have to ask the writers about that.

“I’m currently in Nashville doing my music. I did pitch to them if they did want to come and do a Nashville series. She [Porsche] did leave on a cruise so you never know.”

Porsche was last seen on screen on Christmas Eve 2015 and Twinnie-Lee revealed that fans still message her a decade later about her character.

She explained: “It’s so wild because people even now still message me about Porsche. I posted something and everyone was like ‘omg come back’, ‘when you coming back’.

“She was such a great character to play, made a real impact and very relatable.”

Last year, Twinnie-Lee returned to the small screen in Emmerdale as Jade Garrick, an illegal gambling and underground fighting manager who Ross Barton (Michael Parr) and Billy Fletcher (Jay Kontzle) worked for for a small number of episodes.

Speaking about her new role at the time, the soap star said: “My life has been a bit crazy recently juggling music and acting with lots of back and forth between Nashville and Yorkshire but I’ve been loving it!!

“I’ve loved being back on screen, especially as the show is shot in Yorkshire, being able to be home with family and go to work on such an iconic show has been nothing short of amazing! The whole team has been so welcoming and really supportive.”

Hollyoaks airs Monday to Wednesday on E4 at 7pm and first look episodes can be streamed Channel 4 from 7am
