Fans of Coronation Street think a downfall is set for villain Carl Webster, as he sunk to new lows this week.
The brother of Kevin and Debbie Webster has been up to all sorts, from dodgy car stealing schemes and fake MOTs, as well as his affair with sister-in-law Abi Franklin. With Carl also having a secret romance with James Bailey behind Abi’s back, and him also being behind the hit-and-run that injured Tyrone Dobbs, fans are eager to see him punished.
But his latest dark behaviour could be his cruelest decision yet, and it’s left sickened fans wanting him gone. Carl has been getting closer to his sister Debbie, and clearly wants access to her business accounts at the hotel.
Amid Debbie’s dementia diagnosis and her becoming forgetful, vile scenes have shown Carl tricking her and trying to get her out of the way. Wanting access to the accounts no doubt for the money, fans fear he will end up fleecing his own sister.
This and the fact he’s cruelly using her diagnosis against her at a time where she’s vulnerable, has left fans horrified. Many have called it the final straw and are hoping he gets found out soon.
The ongoing storyline has sparked speculation that it will lead to a big comeuppance for Carl, perhaps at Christmas or beyond. Fans are now trying to figure out who will expose Carl and who will bring him down.
As Kevin and Abi were named as potential suspects behind his downfall, other fans wondered if Debbie or her partner Ronnie Bailey, or even fling James, will stop him for once and for all. Taking to social media, one fan said: “Cant stand him. Someone has to catch him.”

Despite having never been to Universal’s Halloween Horror Nights before, I knew the Terrifier was going to be bad, but I didn’t expect it to feel like my stomach – and nerves – were being tested with every step.
The smell hit me before anything else – putrid rot, bleach, coppery blood, even the stench of faeces. It stuck to the back of my throat so thick I nearly gagged. The house started deceptively dry, as if lulling me into thinking I’d make it through clean. That didn’t last.
Within minutes, I was in the middle of a full-on blood bath. Red splattered walls, dripping ceilings, and warm droplets spraying across my arms. They say it uses six gallons of blood and 35 bodies – the most ever – and I believe it. Every corner I turned was another slaughter.
And then there was Art the Clown. Not just once, he appeared everywhere, each guise worse than the last. He came at me dressed as a sick parody of Santa, revving a chainsaw and plunging it gleefully into a victim’s back with that same, mocking grin.
A few rooms later, I caught him mid-kill, snapping someone’s jaw with a crunch that echoed through the hall. The squelch of him disembodying someone else was another gruesome scene that still haunts me.
In another chamber of hell, he stood behind a screaming man, dragging a blade across his throat as blood sprayed into the air, and I had to turn my face away. The worst was the bathroom scene. It stank of mold and sewage, and the sinks were clogged with guts.
There were bodies piled in the bathtub and a mirror streaked with gore. I wanted to close my eyes, but Art was there too, standing so still it made me wonder if he was waiting for me specifically. Then came the familiar warped jingle of the Clown Café, cheerful and wrong, like a lullaby for nightmares as Art danced nonchalantly along.
By the finale, I was lightheaded from the smell and the sights, practically stumbling toward the exits where I was faced with a choice – dry path or blood bath (of course, I went for the latter). My stomach lurched with every step, I came so close to throwing up. But I made a run for it, and when the warm spray of blood (water really) finally hit me in the last corridor, I felt it on my skin long after I’d escaped.
I staggered out laughing, but it was the kind of shaky laugh you let out when you’re not sure if you survived or just got broken. Terrifier wasn’t just a haunted house. It was being dragged into Art the Clown’s world – unrated, unrelenting, and almost too much for me to handle.

Winding cobbled lanes snake past vibrant shop fronts, ancient stone homes perch on steep slopes, and the River Calder sparkles beneath graceful canal arches.
This former industrial mill settlement has transformed into one of northern England’s most coveted residential destinations, consistently featuring on rankings of Britain’s most scenic, tight-knit communities.
However, conversations with locals reveal a different narrative: one of fondness mixed with weariness. Despite its undeniable charm, Hebden Bridge’s appeal creates significant challenges, reports the Express.
Residents complain of excessive visitor numbers, insufficient car parking facilities, and a growing concern that the equilibrium between locals and day-trippers is tilting dangerously.
Even during a mundane Thursday afternoon, well beyond the peak summer influx, finding a parking spot proves elusive.
Motorists patrol the town centre, scanning adjacent roads desperately for an available bay. As one local quipped: “You can spend longer finding somewhere to park than enjoying your coffee.”
Ben Oliver, 39, who relocated from Sunderland in March 2020, shared similar sentiments.
“It’s a beautiful place with a strong community, and you can see the moors from here,” he said. “But town parking can get difficult, and because of the tourists it attracts, prices go up.
“Weekends are the worst. Sometimes you just give up trying to park and walk in from the edge of town.
“It’s great that people visit because it brings life and money in, but it also means locals get squeezed a bit.
“You notice it most when you’re trying to rent or buy. Prices shoot up because everyone wants a piece of it.
“In summer the streets are packed, and you end up avoiding the centre altogether until things quieten down.”
Yet despite these difficulties, it’s simple to understand why countless visitors are enchanted by this location.
Unique independent shops line Market Street, whilst artisan bakeries fill the streets with the aroma of cinnamon, and the surrounding wooded hills transform into brilliant gold during autumn.
Hebden Bridge boasts a remarkable legacy of determination and transformation, evolving from its Victorian textile roots to becoming a sanctuary for creatives, musicians and eco-campaigners.
Shop worker Jess Wild, who relocated here two years ago, explained it’s precisely that artistic, neighbourhood atmosphere that attracted her: “It’s an aesthetically beautiful place, and the shops have a strong sense of community.
“Everyone knows each other, and there’s real warmth here. But there’s not too much diversity in the type of shops, as there are too many eating places catering to tourists. Still, it’s a lovely place to live.”
This delicate equilibrium between appeal and tourism is frequently raised by residents. The proliferation of cafés and eateries has maintained the town’s energy, though some believe this progress has its drawbacks.
“You used to see more quirky little stores,” Jess added. “Now it’s coffee shops and brunch spots. It’s what visitors want, but it changes the feel of the place.
“You can’t blame people for wanting to come, but it changes the atmosphere. When you’ve got crowds lining the canal and queues outside every café, it stops feeling like a small town and more like a weekend attraction. It’s lovely, but it can be a bit much.”
For Paul Anyon, 57, who operates Paul’s Fresh Fish from his market truck every Thursday, transformation has been ongoing: “I’ve been coming here for 24 years, took over from my father who did the same before me,” he said, skillfully wrapping up a piece of haddock for a punter.
“It’s a busy stall in a quiet town, at least it used to be. Over the years, I’ve noticed a lot of southerners moving in. Prices have gone up, but people are paying more to buy from local businesses, and that’s great to see.”
Standing close by, loyal customer John Smith, 65, waits calmly with his glass Tupperware container in hand.
“Paul always tells me what’s good this week,” he said. “You just couldn’t get fish like this from a supermarket.”
His remark captures what makes Hebden Bridge distinctive: a community economy that continues to flourish on individual relationships and confidence. Not everyone here calls it home.
Numerous people, like Michelle and Tim Holroyd, travel in from surrounding areas to experience what Hebden Bridge provides.
“We come about once a month from Halifax,” said Michelle. “We always go to the Old Gate pub; the food’s fantastic. There are great charity shops and antique shops, too.”
Her other half, Tim, chimed in: “We’re both ex-Scouts, so we love walking in the countryside around here. When there are big events on, we take the train instead of driving – it’s easier.”
It’s the surrounding landscape that lends Hebden Bridge its enchanting charm. The moors rise abruptly from the valley, blanketed in heather and intersected by stone paths. It’s no surprise that writer Ted Hughes, who was born nearby, found a wealth of inspiration in these hills.
The town is also celebrated for its alternative spirit, a robust LGBTQ+ community, thriving arts scene, and a reputation as one of the UK’s most forward-thinking small towns.
For 72-year-old David Moody, it’s this blend of natural beauty and neighbourly connection that makes Hebden Bridge unbeatable, even if it sometimes feels too popular for its own good.
“It’s a walker’s paradise,” he said, leaning against a table as he chatted with passers-by about kindness and community.
“The countryside’s beautiful, but there are too many tourists, especially in summer. It gets too busy, and parking is hard to find anywhere.
“Still, I love it here. I’d only ever move south if I won the lottery, and that’d just be for the weather.”
And despite the frustrations, that seems to be the prevailing sentiment, a kind of affectionate exasperation.
Hebden Bridge may have its shortcomings, but its community spirit, natural splendour, and sense of belonging keep residents firmly planted here. Even on a crisp afternoon, the market bustles with animated conversation, cafés are alive with chatter, and the canal towpath is peppered with ramblers and cyclists.
At Little H Café, where sunshine poured through the windows on a surprisingly luminous October day, barista Ellie Sim beamed as she passed over a toasted panini.
“People always think the north is dreary, but it’s been gorgeous all day. Everyone’s in a good mood when the sun comes out,” she said.
Hebden Bridge stands as a tribute to small-town Britain, where stunning countryside meets a fiercely independent character. Even the grumbles about parking, tourists, or an abundance of cafés serve as evidence that people are deeply passionate about the place they call home.
Oct. 25 (UPI) — Due process rights were violated when federal officers detained the father of a girl who has cancer without a bond hearing pending deportation to Mexico, a federal judge in Chicago ruled.
U.S. District of Northern Illinois Judge Jeremy Daniel on Friday ordered Ruben Torres Maldonado, 40, to be given a bond hearing no later than Oct. 31 while he faces deportation as his 16-year-old daughter undergoes cancer treatment, WBBM-TV reported.
He remains in custody at an Immigration and Customs Enforcement facility pending the outcome of the bond hearing, which Daniel said should have been done already to uphold his right to due process.
His attorneys sought an immediate release, but Daniel said the “appropriate remedy” to his detainment is to hold a bond hearing as soon as possible.
“While sympathetic to the plight the petitioner’s daughter faces due to her health concerns, the court must act within the constraints of the relevant statutes, rules and precedents,” Daniel said.
Daniel was appointed to the court by former President Joe Biden.
Department of Homeland Security Assistant Secretary. Tricia McLaughlin called the legal challenge a “desperate Hail Mary attempt to keep a criminal in our country,” the Chicago Sun-Times reported.
He “did not comply with instructions from the officers and attempted to flee in his vehicle and backed into a government vehicle,” she explained.
McLaughlin, in a prepared statement, said “U.S. Border Patrol conducted a targeted immigration enforcement operation that resulted” in his arrest in Niles, Ill., on Oct. 18, according to WLS-TV.
“He has a history of habitual driving offenses and has been charged multiple times with driving without insurance, driving without a valid license and speeding,” she said. “He will remain in ICE custody pending removal.”
Moldonado, 40, has illegally resided in the United States since entering in 2003 and has lived in the greater Chicago area with his partner for the past 20 years.
He has worked as a painter for the same company over the past 20 years.
The Trump administration is calling for the immediate detention of all people when encountered and who are suspected of illegally entering or otherwise residing in the United States.
The detention mandate is based on a federal law that Maldonado’s legal team says only applies to “non-citizens who recently arrived at a border or port of entry.”
Daniel agreed that the law does not apply to Moldonado and ordered his bond hearing to ensure due process in his case.

She uses her platform to share fashion and beauty advice, but recently shared a video in which she opened up about some of the things she finds most difficult about being somebody with dwarfism.
One thing she can’t stand is when people “full on get on their knees” to talk to her, as she said it gives her “second hand embarrassment” for what they look like.
Instead, she urged them to sit down while she stands up, so that they’re at similar heights.
And don’t even think about patting her on the head – or using her as an armrest.

“Like girl please!” she sighed in the TikTok, which she captioned “things I find patronising as a little person”.
“This hasn’t actually happened to me many times thank God.
“Because if somebody did I’d literally be like excuse me. Like who do you think I am?
“I am not an object!”
She can’t stand it when people call her “cute”, which happens a lot – especially when she’s out with her boyfriend, who also has dwarfism.
“I want to be gorgeous. I want to be beautiful,” she said.

Lucy also took aim at people who call her “inspirational” just because she’s a dwarf, as she said she wants to be considered an inspiration to others because of the things she does with her platform – not just because of her condition.
And she can’t stand it when people “overcompensate” in the way they talk to her, and end up talking to her like she’s “three years old”.
“I just want to reiterate like I know all those things I’ve mentioned are like are harmless,” she concluded the video, which has had over 357,000 views on the social media site.
“People are being nice, but it’s just sometimes the way things come across.”
The comments section was immediately filled with people having their say on Lucy’s advice, as one wrote: “I hate it when people infantalise people with dwarfism or visible disabilities.
“All of these comments must be so infuriating and annoying.”
“What is wrong with people?” another sighed.
“I don’t see you as anything different.
“You’re a beautiful human with an amazing personality!”
“As a wheelchair user and someone with cerebral palsy, I relate to all of these! Drives me mad,” a third admitted.
The first group of critically ill and injured Palestinian children set to receive NHS treatment have left Gaza and are expected to arrive in the UK in days.
They are the first children to be brought to the UK for treatment as part of a government operation being co-ordinated by the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office, Home Office and Department of Health.
Foreign Secretary Yvette Cooper confirmed the children had been evacuated from Gaza in an interview with the Daily Mirror newspaper.
A Foreign Office source told the BBC the report was correct and the children were due to arrive in the UK in the “coming days”.
The UK government is also working to evacuate students with places to study at British universities.
Cooper did not confirm how large the first group was but the BBC understands it contains between 30 and 50 Palestinian children.
Cooper told the newspaper “it was a lot of diplomatic work in order to help them actually leave Gaza”.
She added: “But that work is underway and I’m determined to make sure that we can do our bit to help those injured families and also to help students get into their courses this autumn.”
Some Gazan children have been brought privately to the UK for medical treatment through an initiative by Project Pure Hope, but the government until now had not evacuated any through its own scheme during the conflict.
On Saturday, the Hamas-run health ministry in Gaza said the bodies of 47 people killed by the Israeli military had arrived at its hospitals over the previous day.
Since UN-backed global food security experts confirmed a famine in Gaza City on 22 August, the ministry has reported that at least 142 people have died from starvation and malnutrition across the territory.
Earlier this year, the World Health Organization said that Israel’s offensive in Gaza had stretched the territory’s health system “beyond breaking point”.
Israel has said it is expanding its efforts to facilitate aid deliveries and has disputed the health ministry’s figures on malnutrition-related deaths.
The Israeli military launched its campaign in Gaza in response to the Hamas-led attack on southern Israel on 7 October 2023, in which about 1,200 people were killed and 251 others were taken hostage.
At least 64,803 people have been killed in Israeli attacks in Gaza since then, according to the territory’s health ministry.

He explained: “Luke called me to say the guys weren’t earning points in Atlanta, and I’d actually made the team automatically. That was a very nice phone call to receive, and I was over the moon.
“Jon had just won the LIV individual title, so we had a bit of a tear-up. Yeah, that was a messy night. I don’t ever want to get into that state again to be honest.

After seeing an 8-0 lead slip in the 18-8 loss, Peach – a former Woman of Steel – allowed her frustrations to boil over in the 79th minute.
When a decision went against her side, she allegedly asked the referee: “Which one are you shagging?”
Mr Salmon halted the match after the outburst and immediately told the 27-year-old what he thought.
“Sinead, come here,” he ordered to the York captain. “I’m not having any of that.
“I’m not having you saying, ‘Which one are you shagging?’ You’re off.”
The resulting penalty allowed Saints to add the final two points of their win.
Now the Rugby Football League’s match review panel will look into the incident and decide whether Peach will face any disciplinary charges.
If, as expected, she does, she will face a hefty ban if found guilty of questioning the integrity of a match official.

After a hotel chain was named the worst in Britain for the 11th consecutive year, a curious expert decided to investigate to see if things were really that bad at their numerous properties across the country in prime locations.

Travel writer Gavin Haines wanted to see if the reports and findings were accurate and if things were really that bad on site. He stayed at three different hotels belonging to Britannia and it’s safe to say what he experienced certainly backed the research and reviews.
He had contacted Which? editor Rory Boland about the “abysmal” overall customer satisfaction ratings and was advised not to even bother visiting. “With over a decade of dismal reviews, our results suggest that Britannia should be avoided at all costs,” he was told.
Despite this he braved a stay at the Royal Bath in the traditional coastal town of Bournemouth. The grand hotel has a rich history – it was opened in 1838 on Queen Victoria’s Coronation Day and was the first hotel in the town.

It is set in its own landscaped grounds with spectacular views out to sea, which, its dedicated wedding website claims, makes it the perfect spot for your special day.
However Gavin found the venue’s interior special in a very different way. “The mismatched furniture looks like it was sourced in haste from a house clearance shop and makes me feel homesick,” he writes in the Telegraph.
“While the views make me want to call the Samaritans (if we can reasonably describe a rusty air conditioning unit, some broken guttering and fag ends on an enclosed flat roof as views).”
He couldn’t even bring himself to make a brew to improve his experience because the kettle had tissue inside it, “for reasons I’d rather not speculate on”.

One of the Royal Bath’s selling points is its spa with a heated indoor pool, steam room and gym. Unfortunately this also let the side down with a reported “line of scum” clinging to the tiles in the pool.
On Tripadvisor, where the hotel has a 2.6 score out of 5, one recent review backed his slimy discovery. In July this year, one visitor was looking forward to a spa day with high tea that had been booked by a friend but was incredibly “disappointed” by what they encountered.
“The Spa and pool was shabby, dated with missing tiles and broken lockers,” they revealed. “Nobody was at the desk so we had to wait to be allowed in. The crescent shaped pool was full of kids and toddlers, a tiny jacuzzi and sauna which were full and there were not enough loungers to accommodate everyone and hardly creating a peaceful luxurious experience!”

The high tea was more of a low point as well with, “sweaty cheese and curling bread”. When it came to Gavin’s dining experience, he did note that there probably wasn’t anywhere else in the popular town where you could get a three course meal for £15 in such grand surroundings, but you “get what you pay for”.
In his case it was a rock hard bread roll, overcooked and undercooked (quite a feat) carrots in the beef stew and a glow in the dark dessert.
Unfortunately his nights at other properties in the group were on par. The “ironically named” Palace Hotel in Buxton (3 out of 5 on TripAdvisor), like the Royal Bath, is a beautiful old building in a classical style set in five acres of gardens.
Sadly he didn’t get to admire these out of the window of his room that was “so cold I didn’t want to get out of bed”. Instead he was met with the choice view of an overflowing skip and old furniture dumped in a grotty car park.
While other visitors were similarly disappointed with the hotel, with many on Tripadvisor complaining of dirty rooms with poor facilities, there were those who appreciated its faded grandeur: “This hotel has lots of character & charm, yes parts are dated but that adds to its beauty,” shared one.
Another agreed: “For me the grandness of the building and the aspect looking out of the town was wonderful. Room didn’t have a window – as a result I had the best night’s sleep – didn’t know what time it was! I’d visit again – can put up with a bit of outdatedness for the charm and style of the place.”

So Gavin probably arrived with some understandable fear and trepidation, which would have been entirely justified but here he was treated to rose petals in his room.
However it seemed these weren’t a romantic welcome token from a thoughtful housekeeper and instead, “had presumably featured in a recent low-budget dirty weekend”. The spa facilities here were described as “scuzzy” and evoked “verruca socks”.
With plenty of Tripadvisor reviews of the various properties calling out their tired appearance, there are also those that highlight improvements that have been made, especially at the Royal Bath.
Britannia has invested £1million there recently but it seems, as with a lot of its premises, it’s pot luck what room you are allocated. One horrified guest says they were given a “cheap, nasty and dinky” room without a window in the “stinking” East Wing. While on the flip side, another was reportedly allocated a “spacious” room with a sea view, despite not paying extra for it.
It’s a similar pattern at the Burstin. While the reviewer wasn’t at all impressed with his room, others had a very different experience. One returning guest was perfectly happy with their allocation in August this year. They wrote on Tripadvisor: “Another superb stay here. But this time an even better room with an even better perfect sea view. Room was lovely clean and comfortable Well done Grand Burstin.”
Another who was wary of what to expect after reading poor reviews shared: “I was pleasantly surprised by the hotel. Its not the Ritz or something flash and modern, it is what you pay for – a budget hotel.”

Doting dad Peter Andre has been left horrified after seeing the “disgusting” messages his daughter Princess has been receiving from men online. The 18-year-old is all set to star in her own four-part series, The Princess Diaries, which airs on ITV2 tonight and she’s joined by her dad, 52.
In the very first episode, the teenager, who is 17 at the time of filming, is joined by a pal as they discuss the vile messages she’s been receiving online from men.
Her friend is left gobsmacked by the messages as Princess tells her: “”Usually it’s like old men, going on about my toes. Sometimes they’ll be like, ‘let me take you on a date.”

“I do love my job and I do love social media and I do love interacting with people but there is a dark side to social media that people don’t see, and there are a lot of inappropriate messages that…yeah some of them can be horrible. “Like I’m literally 17, that’s actually not OK.”
Later on in the episode, the beauty influencer is joined by her dad and talk soon turns to the messages she’s been receiving. A shocked Peter looks up and asks her what sort of messages as she tells him it’s normally older men asking for feet pictures.
He responds: “Please God that’s the only thing they ask for,” before she gives him bad news by telling him they also ask: “Are you finally legal now?”
Peter is in disbelief and puts his hand to his face as his little girl shows him the message she had earlier shown to her friend. As he reads the message, the shocked dad-of-five says: “Oh my God Biss I didn’t think it was going to be like that.”
After placing his face in his hands again and trying to come to terms with what he had just read, the Mysterious Girl singer adds: “That really made me feel sick, like in the pit of my stomach. I hate it because you’re still my baby.”
The four-part series will see the budding star carving out a career for herself as a beauty influencer as cameras follow her every move as she steps out of the shadow of her dad and mum Katie Price.

Princess and her older brother Junior, 20, appeared on This Morning on Friday 8 August and insisted they’re trying to step outside of their famous parents and just do their own thing.
She told guest hosts Joel Dommett and Emma Willis: “I got older and a lot more things have come in for me solo. A lot of things I used to do was with my parents and now I’m doing a show that is independent and actually focused on me. Now is the right time because my life is busy right now and I want people to see it.”
She’s already inked big money deals with huge brands including Morphe and Superdrug and no doubt her star will continue to rise following the airing of her series.
Meanwhile, Junior is becoming a force in the music industry after signing a major record deal with Columbia at the age of 16, who also manage Harry Styles and Calvin Harris.

The majority of Friday’s papers lead with the UK-France “one in, one out” agreement to tackle migrant Channel crossings. The Daily Telegraph reports French President Emmanuel Macron said British people had been “sold a lie” that Brexit would make tackling the crisis easier. The paper says the deal was unveiled hours after hundreds of people were seen being escorted from French shores without being stopped by police.
Macron’s comments on Brexit fuelling Channel crossings also lead the i newspaper. Leaving the EU without a returns agreement created an incentive for migrants to make the crossing, which he said was the “precise opposite of what Brexit promised”.
“What a joke” is the Daily Mail’s assessment of the “one in, one out” scheme with France. The “half-baked” deal “was already threatening to unravel”, according to the paper, after the prime minister conceded it was “not a silver bullet”.
The Guardian also leads with the deal, noting that it is the first time such an agreement has been struck between the UK and France.
The Daily Express front page also carries criticism of the deal, with Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer being accused of “caving in”. Opponents say it will do little to stop the flow of boats across the Channel, the paper reports.
Metro carries comments from shadow home secretary, Chris Philp, who said the deal would not address the “migrant merry-go-round”. It has been reported that the scheme would see up to 50 people a week being returned, though Sir Keir has not confirmed any figures. But with the agreement being signed on a day that hundreds of people arrived in the UK, the paper says there is “instant doubt it will work”.
The UK-France deal is already facing opposition among some EU politicians, The Times reports. In its lead story, the paper reports that the Department of Health is looking to limit GPs issuing “not fit for work” notes. Last year, the NHS issued 11 million “fit notes”, 93% of which declared people “not fit for work” with no alternative plan to get them back in employment, the paper reports.
The Financial Times leads with accusations of sexual harassment and gender discrimination at Moët Hennessy, the wine and spirits division of luxury brand LVMH. Maria Gasparovic, a former chief of staff to the company’s global head of distribution, is seeking €1.3m (£1.1m) in damages for unfair dismissal after she raised concerns about misconduct about senior colleagues. Moët Hennessy is suing Gasparovic for defamation, saying that she was fired because she made threatening remarks to colleagues.
Celebrity chef Gino D’Acampo’s relocation to Australia makes the front page of the Sun, which reports the former I’m a Celebrity Get Me Out of Here winner is launching “multiple work projects” there.
The Daily Mirror says it has seen a leaked letter from the BBC to former Masterchef host Gregg Wallace following his dismissal. In it, the Mirror says a senior member of staff tells him his behaviour is “unlikely to improve”. Wallace denies the allegations against him and has hired a “top lawyer to fight the claims”, the paper reports.
And the Daily Star leads with US President Donald Trump’s praise of Liberian President Joseph Boakai for his “good English”, despite it being the country’s official language. The paper says Trump’s comments would have left the US president feeling “red faced” during their meeting earlier this week.
During the news conference, MVP CEO Nakisa Bidarian announced there was a $250,000 performance bonus on offer for the best performance or fight of the night.
Bidarian also predicted the Serrano-Taylor bout would be the most watched combat sports event of the year so far, with Netflix streaming their second boxing event after broadcasting Jake Paul v Mike Tyson in November.
Taylor’s undisputed light-welterweight crown will be on the line once again, but this fight will have a 136lb weight limit at the behest of Serrano and her team.
The Irishwoman was also nonplussed about being announced on stage first – traditionally reserved for the challenger – branding the hoopla and pre-fight rituals as “nonsense”.
Having previously shared 20 rounds of all-out battle it’s not exactly a shock that some needle has built, with Serrano far from impressed by the scorecards from their second meeting in Texas last year.
Serrano, 36, fought most of that contest battling a massive cut above her eye.
She said adjustments are required, insisting she will box clever, and in relaying that information couldn’t resist another dig.
“I’m going to use my head, but not the way it was used on me,” Serrano said.
“We’re going to be smarter. We’re going to be smarter, work smarter. I work hard in every training camp so I didn’t work harder for this camp, but I did work a lot smarter for this fight.
“And I believe that we can come out victorious. We will come out victorious.”
From hiding in Auschwitz to vlogging in war zones, some Gen Z travellers are going to extreme lengths to secure content for social media as part of a growing dark tourism trend

Dark tourism is one of the most popular niches for young travellers. As stories emerge of tourists eating sandwiches on Holocaust tours and fraternising with global terror organisations, it provokes the question: is it ethical?
Defined by darktourism.com as tourism that involves travelling to sites that include death and disaster, it’s been widely expanded to include locations linked with unscrupulous figures and unpleasant events like incarceration. According to a 2022 Travel News survey found, a staggering 91% of Gen Z (13-28 year olds) have engaged in the activity in some form.
And if we’re talking about popular dark tourist sites, few places get darker than Auschwitz. It’s the most impelling legacy of the Holocaust, the twentieth century’s most obliterating tragedy. In the five years that it was active over 1.1 million people lost their lives, of which one million were Jewish. It’s also become an increasingly popular tourist destination.
Over 1.8 million people visited the Auschwitz-Birkenau Memorial and Museum in 2024, a 10 per cent rise compared to 2023. And while these numbers are lower than the pre-Pandemic high of 2 million, the museum puts this down to the current conflicts in Russia-Ukraine and the Middle East.

Beverley Boden is a PhD researcher in the field of dark tourism and associate dean at Teesside University International Business School, who happens to spend a lot of her time at Auschwitz. Part of what fascinates her is what motivates people to visit these destinations, as well as the toll it takes on the tour guides.
Recently she’s also noticed a definite increase in interest in dark tourism from a crowd with two specific characteristics. Firstly, they tend to be predominantly young: 16 – 24. Secondly, there’s a lot of people who haven’t fully done their research.
Beverley explains: “When you’re at a place like Auschwitz, you see how disrespectful some tourists can be. They take calls when the guides ask them not to, eat food when the guides ask them not to. They take inappropriate pictures. They go into places that they shouldn’t.”
In one instance she recalls observing two young tourists hide behind the camp’s ovens, in gas chamber number one, and a tour guide had to plead with them to stop.

Another time, a man pulled out a sandwich and began eating it outside of block number 10, while the guide recounted the intentional genital mutilation of women to end the Jewish race.
It’s not just Auschwitz either. Beverley says she’s also noticed an interest in Chernobyl, another quintessential dark tourist destination. While the Russia-Ukraine war has made visitor numbers hard to discern, the location of one of the world’s most terrifying nuclear tragedies has long drawn a mass appeal.
As for why she believes that these destinations have taken off with a wider audience, including those who haven’t done as much research, Beverley points to several theories. One is the wild popularity of recent shows, like Netflix’s Dark Tourist, which aired in 2018 and which sees the host travel to a plethora of unlikely destinations, from haunted forests to Jeffrey Dahmer’s hometown.
From her own experience, she admits there is also a level of “morbid curiosity” in seeing places associated with destruction and death. For the upcoming generation, too, who haven’t known a world without Internet, there is a desire to “push the boundaries”.
However, another, potentially more worrying facet of dark tourism, Beverley explains, includes visiting active or recent conflict zones.
Pursuit of the perfect selfie
Travel vloggers like Miles Routledge, Mike Okay and @josievlogsthings have gone viral – and caused controversy – over recent years for their visits to locations like Mauritania, Iraq and Afghanistan. These countries all have UK FCDO travel advisories and some are currently caught in active wars or are being run by governments with questionable human rights records.
Whether borne out of a genuine interest, or something ulterior, the audience’s intrigue is undeniable: many of these videos gain millions of views. After all, is your travel content really that engaging if you haven’t taken a selfie with the Taliban? As travel YouTuber Miles Routledge claimed to have done, after being held in custody by the Taliban in 2023.

While there’s no explicit link, the rise of these social media vlogs has correlated with an increase in real-world visitor stats. In 2023, over 5,200 tourists visited Afghanistan. Meanwhile, the Iraqi government documented a record 500-plus US and European tourists visiting the country in 2024.
One such visitor was Xiaochen Su, a Chinese-American digital nomad currently based in Malta. He was backpacking through the Middle East when he spotted a connecting flight to Baghdad and thought, “why not one more country?” When he landed he didn’t know what to expect.
“I heard about Baghdad so much on the news back when the war was still happening. I just wanted to see what the current situation was like,” he says.
Iraq is on the FCDO Do Not Travel list, which advises against all travel to many parts of the country due to a high threat of terrorism. It has suffered through decades of conflict that has resulted in over 200,000 casualties between 2003-2022, according to the online database Iraq Body Count. Xiaochen remembers being taken aback by the dilapidated buildings, including main shopping streets left shuttered and in ruins.

But what also struck him was how warmly he was treated. “People would come up to me and say ‘hey’. We had difficulty communicating, but people were nice,” he says. Ultimately, cities like Baghdad, stages for recent and devastating wars, are places where hundreds of thousands of people still live and work.
This is true for many of these dark tourist adventures. Often these places that hold salacious intrigue for dark tourists are homes, memorials, or even ancestral graves for others. Visiting such locations can be educational, if done respectfully.
“A lot of people think that even traveling as a dark tourist is unethical,” Beverley says. “But I think one of the great things about dark tourism is that it does shine a light on historical events. It can educate the younger generation because lessons can be learned.”

Damian Homer, 51, was convicted of murder and attempted murder in November 2024 after launching a brutal attack on his partner and her mum while their two young children were at home

A quiet spring evening in a Worcester suburb erupted into chaos when police and paramedics swarmed a residential street, responding to a harrowing double stabbing on March 2, 2024.
Inside the house, Damian Homer stood at the door, blood staining his t-shirt. His partner Stacey Hill and her mother Wendy Francis lay injured on the floor – both stabbed in a frenzied attack that left one dead. The horrifying details of the case have been revealed in full in the BBC Two docuseries Murder 24/7.
Homer had launched a violent assault on Stacey and Wendy in a terrifying outburst, even pausing mid-attack to ask Stacey – bleeding and helpless – for a kiss. As she lay critically wounded, Stacey described hearing the “noise the knife made in my mum”.

Wendy, 61, had rushed to the home after her daughter called in fear, having seen the reflection of a knife in Homer’s pocket in their mirrored wardrobe.
When officers arrived, they restrained Homer against the wall. As he was arrested for attempted murder, he claimed: “Stacey went to stab me, then Wendy came in and they both tried to stab me. I had to protect myself… it’s a good job I did otherwise I’d be the one dead.”
Paramedics found Stacey surrounded by blood, urgently asking them to check on her mother and her two children who had been inside the house at the time. Police carried the two young children to safety, telling them: “Keep your eyes tight, tight, tight” as they were taken past the bodies.
While Stacey, 38, was rushed to hospital, Wendy went into cardiac arrest. Despite efforts to save her, she was pronounced dead at 9:18pm on March 2, 2024.
In police interviews the following morning, Homer claimed he loved Stacey and described a domestic argument escalating. He alleged Stacey tried to grab a knife first, which he took and placed in his pocket. Then he claimed Wendy stormed in and jumped on him, prompting him to draw the knife:
“We fell over and the knife went into her. Stacey was shouting, and she went to grab another knife… and came towards me. I launched at her. And she just froze on the spot.”
But his version immediately raised suspicions. He referred to a “second knife” Stacey had supposedly grabbed – yet when police searched the property, no second knife was found.
With Stacey in critical condition and Wendy dead, investigators turned to other sources. The couple’s children – now in the care of relatives – gave troubling accounts. A social worker noted they played with dolls, identifying one as “Daddy… he’s bad”.
One child said: “One of them got blood on Daddy’s T-shirt, and they were screaming. Daddy was in the kitchen, Mummy was lying down on the kitchen floor, and Nanny’s blood was dripping. Dad was throwing the knife he’d got in his hand, and it hit both of them.”

Homer’s violent past also began to emerge. His former boss Clair recalled his threatening outburst during a disciplinary meeting: “How fing dare they… if I find out it’s you I’m going to fing hurt you.”
He also had a suspended sentence for assaulting Stacey in 2020.
Detectives reviewed the couple’s mobile phones, uncovering evidence of a deteriorating relationship. On the day of the attack, Stacey had texted her mother: “I’ve had to come upstairs… believe me when I say I’m done.”
In another message to Homer, she wrote: “Find somewhere else to live… you’re lucky I ain’t called the police on you.”
To which he replied: “Lol. Only if you buy me out.” Concerned, Stacey’s aunt phoned emergency services:
“She’s just told me her chap’s got a knife in his pocket. Please get there quick.”
When Stacey was finally able to speak, she gave a harrowing account of that night. After a day out at a garden centre, Homer started drinking and grew increasingly aggressive. She went upstairs to get away, and spotted a knife in his pocket via their mirrored wardrobe:
“I said to my auntie, ‘Call the police, he’s got a knife.’ I called my mum and said, ‘Mum, Damo’s got a knife and I think he’s going to kill me.’”
Stacey tried to leave, but Homer pulled her back and began assaulting her. “He was swinging me around the kitchen and punching me in the head. I heard my mum come through the door and say, ‘Get your hands off my f***ing babbi.’ I breathed a sigh of relief – my hero had come to save me.”
But Homer didn’t stop. Instead, he pulled out the knife.
“We both ended up curled up on the floor… he pulled the knife out of his back pocket and stabbed my mum in the left side of her chest, for ages. All I could hear was the noise the knife made in my mum.”
“I tried to get on my mum to stop any more stab wounds being inflicted. He started panicking and as he did that, he came down to me and asked me for a kiss.”
Stacey, stabbed in the chest with a collapsed lung, was losing consciousness. But her thoughts were still with her mother:
“I kept asking about my mum but I could tell by the look on their face that it was bad news.”
Stacey’s detailed testimony, along with the children’s accounts, forensic evidence, and Ring doorbell footage capturing Wendy’s final moments, left police confident Homer’s story was false. He was charged with murder and attempted murder.
Though he initially claimed self-defence, Homer later pleaded guilty and was sentenced in November 2024 to life imprisonment, with a minimum term of 20 years.
“Everybody loved Damo,” Stacey reflected. “But when you were living with him 24/7, the mask started to come away. The first time he hit me, he said sorry. But there was no point in ever being happy, because I knew it wouldn’t last.”
“The biggest thing for me was losing my mum. But every time I think about giving up, I look at what my mum did for me. She saved my life and I know now what I have to do for my kids. I have to be the mum to them, that she was to me.”

The Love Island villa is getting hotter as another couple made their way to the hideaway during Tuesday night’s episode. This season, the Islanders are free to go to the hideaway whenever they want, however there’s one rule.
The can’t go in there with the Islander they’re coupled up with. Tonight, it was Conor and bombshell Emily who made their way into the secret room – but one moment had fans threatening to turn off the TV.
Conor, who was originally coupled up with Toni now only has eyes for Emily, and after a kiss on the terrace they decided to spend the night together in the hideaway. However, fans all issued the same complaint as they were left “disgusted”.

The new couple continued their smooching session in the hideaway – but fans weren’t best impressed with the noises coming from the mic.
Taking to X, formerly known as Twitter, one fan penned: “i need them to turn off the mic when they kiss…” as another exclaimed: “I CANT DEAL WITH THE KISSING NOISES #loveisland!”
Emily and Conor then told the rest of the Islanders they’d shared a kiss in the hideaway – but Conor took it one step too far when he revealed he had an erection “for three hours”.
“Conor bruh we didn’t need to know that #LoveIsland,” said one along with a sick faced emoji, as another said: “conor some things should be kept to ourself!!#loveisland.”
It’s been a dramatic few days in the Love Island villa as the bombshells continue to cause a stir. Malisha and Meg clashed from the off, as Malisha took a shining to Dejon – and the feelings were reciprocated.

The two engaged in a number of disagreements – but in the end it seemed like they had made up as during tonight’s episode they pinky promised no more arguments. It came after it was revealed that Dejon had devised a game plan with Harry and Shea in last night’s challenge to make sure he got to kiss Malisha.
He wasn’t the only one in hot water however, as Harry and the boys made sure he had a kiss with Shakira, who he was previously coupled up with. 30-year-old Harry is now coupled up with Helena but declared he had “unfinished business” with ex Shakira.
It was Shea who got the brunt of the “gameplaying” however, as he told Harry and Dejon to make sure he kissed Megan – who Tommy is happily coupled up with. Tommy confronted Shea about how he wasn’t best pleased with the move – and it appeared the pair had put things behind them.
However, when the two were about to part ways – it seemed things got heated once more as the two engaged in a fiery argument – with Tommy calling Shea a “lanky lamppost”.

Taking to Instagram, Nicole explained how the Mould Magic gel worked wonders in her new home.
“If you haven’t seen this before you need to get some, it works on so many different surfaces but I used it mainly on grout in the bathroom,” Nicola explained.
In the viral clip she showed what the bathroom looked like when she first moved in, and sure enough the walls were covered in mould.
The formula is especially easy to apply because it comes in a tube with a nozzle designed to get into those hard to reach places.
Not only that, but according to Nicola the formula is also non-drip, so you don’t have to worry about it slipping and sliding away.
After a couple of hours the product can then be wiped away, leaving your bathroom mould free.
“The mould never comes back,” the cleaning whizz added.
Unsurprisingly, fellow cleaning fans were wowed by the before and after snaps of the bathroom.

More mould cleaning tips and tricks
Use household items
If it’s too late, and any condensation has had a chance to flourish and turn into mould, you can start removing it for nothing.
Natalie, from Which?, said: “A few drops of washing up liquid mixed with warm water can work on smaller areas of mould on hard surfaces like walls or floors.
“Use a sponge, cloth, or brush to work the soapy solution in small circular motions over the mould.
“If you’re trying to remove particularly stubborn mould, try a 1:1 solution of white vinegar and warm water and pour it into a spray bottle to target the affected area.”
If you’ve got a bit more in your budget, you can try buying mould or mildew remover from your nearest supermarket or retailer.
You can get it as cheap as £1.20 from B&M or £2.50 from Dunelm, at the time of writing.
Call in the professionals
You can usually treat smaller patches of mould yourself, but if the problem has gotten out of hand, you might need to call someone in.
Natalie said: “If you find new mould growing quickly in other areas of your home, or the affected area becomes too large to handle, it may be time to get professional help.”
Checkatrade says it costs £25-£35 per hour or £200-£400 per room to call someone in for mould removal.
Meanwhile if you want a specialist to come and take a look to inspect for any mould, that will cost you around £50-£300.
What is mould and how to get rid of it?
Mould is more likely to grow during the winter months.
Olivia Young, Product Development Scientist at Astonish revealed exactly why this is.
“Unfortunately, mould is a common problem many people face during winter. It thrives in conditions that are warm and damp, so your bathrooms are likely to be the most affected place.
“That said, during the colder months most rooms in your home could be vulnerable to mould growing.
“This occurs primarily from condensation that builds up on your windows when you’ve got your radiators on.
“If you think about it, when windows and doors are closed, there’s not much chance for the air to circulate and the moisture to make a swift exit.
“This build up is what can cause dreaded mould to make an appearance, especially in bathrooms, as it creates that warm and wet environment that is a breeding ground for mould.
“If left untreated, not only is it unsightly but it can also pose a serious risk to your health, so it’s really important you treat it.
“The key to tackle mould is to act fast.
“Try to come into as little contact with it as you can. So, grab your gloves, tie up your hair and get to work to remove any signs of mould as soon as you notice them.
“To keep mould at bay, there are some simple solutions you can introduce throughout home.
“The first is keep it ventilated. Yes, even in the cold winter months try to leave your bathroom window open for at least 10/15 minutes post shower or bath. This will get rid of any excess moisture quickly preventing mould gathering.
“If you’re having a repeat problem with mould in one particular area, it might be because the humidity levels are too high. You can get a dehumidifier that will help keep the levels low and reduce the risk of mould returning.
“The golden rule to remember when dealing with mould is the quicker you can treat it, the better. If you leave it, it will only get worse so never ignore it!

Fans can prepare for yet another jam packed week in EastEnders next week – as teen Joel Marshall‘s storyline takes it’s darkest turn yet.
Ever since Joel Marshall arrived on the Square earlier this year, it’s been bad news. His secrets were slowly revealed, but it became evident he hadn’t changed his ways after secretly filming his intimate moment with Avani Nandra-Hart. Now, things are set to take a criminal turn.
In recent weeks, Joel has been seen trying to get Kat and Alfie’s son Tommy involved in his wrongdoings, and next week, he leaves him horrified with his actions when he assaults a stranger on the tube.

The duo are set to travel on the tube home, when Joel asks Tommy to film him. With no ideas of his intentions, Tommy is left is horrified when he witnesses Joel pretending to fall on fellow passenger, Isla, who he touches inappropriately.
Isla then reports Joel to staff, as he’s immediately apprehended – leaving Ross and Vicki horrified. With Ross demanding answers, Vicki is supportive of Isla’s decision to report Joel. However, later on, she meets up with Isla and offers her money to drop the complaint.

Kat is also left distressed about Joel’s influence on Tommy – and things get worse when she gets no support from Alfie. Kat doesn’t feel like she’s getting anywhere with her partner – and things go from bad to worse when he tells her that he needs to go to visit Spencer in Australia as he’s in turmoil. With Alfie away, how will Kat cope with Tommy?
It’s thought that Alfie’s ‘exit’ coincides with Shane Richie‘s recent break from the soap, in which he starred in variety show The Prat Pack alongside Bradley Walsh, former co-star Brian Conley and Joe Pasquale.
It’s not Kat’s only problem, as Jean is left furious furious about the press coverage of Kat, Alfie and Harvey’s wedding business as it suggests Kathy is Mrs Monroe. Visibly upset, she takes action to sabotage the limo business until Alfie manages to talk her down.

The mum-of-two revealed that she and her family decided the cost of living and their busy schedule was too much.
Instead of putting up with it, they sold their house and bought a one-way ticket to Thailand for a new life.

“We wanted more presence, more connection, more sunsets and slow mornings.
“So we sold almost everything, booked a one-way ticket, and figured it out as we went.
“It’s not perfect, but it’s ours, and we’ve never felt more free.”
Lauren often shared her new life in Thailand on social media and recently shared one of their favourite breakfasts while they stayed in Koh Samui.
She headed to one of her favourite food vendors and ordered fried chicken and sticky rice before getting some Thai milk tea.
The mum even said that she thought the iced tea was better than English Breakfast tea.

The mum added: “Hands down they are better than an English breakfast tea. They’re sweet, they’re icy. They do give you that little tea fix.”
She said the next step to the perfect breakfast was to locate the nearest beach.
“The beach closest to our house here is Chong Mon. And if you are coming to Koh Samui, even just on holiday, I really recommend this area,” Lauren said.
“It’s kind of like a mix between touristy but not too touristy.

Disability equality charity Scope said the remarks were “ignorant and hurtful”, adding: “Attitudes and language like this are never acceptable.”
The EastEnders star was suspended by the BBC after a video emerged of him on the Strictly set using the term “m********s” to describe the people of Blackpool, the seaside town where the show was being filmed.
Blackpool Council’s Tory group leader Paul Galley blasted: “Everyone will be shocked at such a horrible comment and I join them in condemning it.”
And the BBC told The Sun on Sunday: “This language is entirely unacceptable and in no way reflects the values or standards we hold and expect at the BBC. We have robust processes in place for this.”

The Sun on Sunday understands Jamie has been suspended by the BBC from his role playing Jay Slater on EastEnders.
Jamie made the offensive remark on a mobile phone video while the Strictly cast and crew were at the Blackpool Tower Ballroom last November for the flagship BBC1 series live show.
He was backstage during rehearsals with his Strictly co-star Wynne Evans who said “Oh my God” on the footage sent to a pal of Jamie’s.
Jamie, who has been on EastEnders since 2006, said in a statement to The Sun on Sunday: “I want to apologise sincerely and wholeheartedly for the words I used in the video showing my reaction to making it through Blackpool week on Strictly.
“I am deeply sorry for any offence and upset my words and actions have caused.
“It is no excuse, but I did not fully understand the derogatory term I used and its meaning.

“Everyone will be shocked at such a horrible comment and I join them in condemning it.”
Meanwhile, a source explained how the Blackpool show is the ‘jewel in the crown’ of the Strictly series – with celebs and pro dancers often saying how much they enjoy performing there.
The source added: “This will be considered a real blow and hugely embarrassing to the BBC and the show’s very warm relationship with the people of Blackpool and the Blackpool Tower Ballroom.”
