Wolves: Gary O’Neil pulls out of the running for shock Wolves return at Premier League club

Edwards’ position at Middlesbrough, given his current employment, would provide some obstacles, with Boro believed to be entitled to a significant compensation fee.

Edwards is a former Wolves Under-23 coach and was also first-team coach, having had a two-game interim spell in charge in 2016, and distanced himself from the role.

“I was told by my daughter yesterday [Sunday], so that probably tells you where I stand on it,” he said.

“You know my links to the club but my full focus is on this job here, which is a brilliant job, and trying to turn things around from the weekend in a really big game against Leicester.

“Speculation stuff is hard for me to comment about, anything else other than Middlesbrough, which is where my focus is, that we’ve done a decent job so far.”

Wolves have a history of appointing managers with close links to high-profile agent Jorge Mendes, in Nuno Espirito Santo, Bruno Lage and Pereira.

It is understood that in addition to O’Neil, Wolves were speaking to at least one manager from Mendes’ stable.

O’Neil was sacked by Wolves in December 2024 following a disappointing start to the 2024-25 campaign, failing to win in their opening 10 games.

‘Days of Our Lives’ star Suzanne Rogers discloses cancer fight

Suzanne Rogers, who has spent more than five decades as a cast member on the soap opera “Days of Our Lives,” has enviable endurance. This past summer, she learned she was even stronger than she’d thought.

For six weeks between June and July, Rogers, 82, underwent treatment for Stage II colorectal cancer, she told TV Insider in an interview published Thursday. The actor said she was diagnosed with the disease earlier this year after consulting a doctor about a nagging feeling that something “wasn’t quite right” with her body.

Colorectal cancer is a term for cancer originating in the colon or rectum. Chances of occurrence increase with age, and experts recommend regular screenings for those age 45 and above, continuing until at least age 75.

Rogers suspected her health issues might be serious when her doctor told her he would like to do a slew of tests, including a colonoscopy, MRI and PET scan. Still, when he confirmed the bad news, the Daytime Emmy winner — who already did routine colonoscopies — couldn’t believe it.

“I think I was in shock for several days because I take pretty good care of myself,” she told TV Insider. Fortunately, her doctor said, “It’s a good thing you caught it in time.”

After wrapping on “Days” in June, Rogers began daily radiation and chemotherapy treatments. She said the intense regimen made her treasure her weekends “because I didn’t have to go to and see a doctor. I was so tired of seeing doctors.”

Luckily, the Peacock soap happened to be on hiatus at the time, so Rogers had no trouble making her appointments. On top of that, her onscreen daughter Linsey Godfrey, who herself battled Hodgkin‘s lymphoma as a teenager, was able to accompany her on treatment visits, which made the ordeal less daunting.

“We really feel like a family,” Rogers said, adding that other cast and crew members regularly called to check in on her, and the “Days” producers never rushed her recovery.

“They all said, ‘Don’t worry about a thing, take care of yourself, get yourself well. That’s the most important thing. We are here,’ ” Rogers said. As the actor heads back to the “Days” set next week, she said she is “feeling really good,” albeit nervous that lingering fatigue might hold her back.

“That’s the only anxiousness I feel. It’s not because of my illness, let’s put it that way,” she said. When she does return to the screen, Rogers will still be sporting her famous ginger mane, as she didn’t lose her hair during chemo.

“Days of Our Lives” premiered on NBC in 1965 and is currently airing Season 61 on Peacock. In July, the classic daytime drama announced it had been renewed for a 62nd and 63rd season on the streaming service.

A two minute clip making the rounds on social media shows the moment Jamie abruptly stops performance to unleash a furious on stage rant.

The actor who is known for his roles in films including Django Unchained and Baby Driver appeared at SKVLK Fest, a Halloween-themed party which was organised by his teen daughter Anelise.

Also taking to the stage was female rapper GloRilla who was forced to stop her set after a glass bottle was thrown at her.

Jamie immediately jumped to the music star’s defence, exclaiming: “ Who did it? Why would you do that?”

He continued to question the confused crowd asking: “Why would you throw something at the stage?”

“This for free. Ya’ll don’t deserve this s***, that’s f****** up.”

“I’m so disappointed. Damn I love y’all but hate whoever the f*** that was. That ain’t cool.”

He added: “You throw some s*** at my house? Nah man that ain’t cool.”

“Wow that’s insane, shall we just pull the plug ?” which was met by a chorus of no’s and sighs from the crowd.

Afterwards GloRilla – who’s famed for her hits Wanna Be and TGIF – picked right up where she left off.

The video which was shared on X sparked big fan reaction, one user said: “Jamie is a real one. Respect for calling it out.”

Another added: “Shoutout to Jamie, that can really hurt someone.”

“It should be something where they can charge you if you toss something at a celebrity and ban you,” a third penned.

A fourth chimed: “I love how he defended her. More men should do that.”

This isn’t the Hollywood actor’s first altercation with glass throwing, just last year Jamie was left injured after reportedly being involved in an altercation in a Beverly Hills restaurant.

The star was enjoying a birthday dinner at Mr Chow with his family when he was said to have had a glass thrown at him, before police were called.

A spokesperson for Foxx told Page Six that Jamie was at dinner “when someone from another table threw a glass that hit him in the mouth“.

Hollyoaks Peri Lomax star’s life away from Channel 4 soap as shock death confirmed

Hollyoaks actress Ruby O’Donnell has been at the centre of some of the Channel 4 soap’s most dramatic storylines as fan favourite Peri Lomax over the past 12 years

Hollyoaks actress Ruby O’Donnell has tackled some of the Channel 4 soap’s most intense plotlines over the past 12 years.

Her character Peri Lomax has found herself at the centre of the drama but her time in the village has come to an end.

During Tuesday’s (October 21) episode, Peri got crushed by ship chimney which fell on her after an explosion went off and she attempted to save Tom Cunningham (Ellis Hollins).

Pushing fiancé Tom out of the way, Peri was struck by the chimney and fell to the ground.

The nurse was conscious for a while chatting with Tom about their daughter Steph Cunningham-Lomax (Isabella Hibbert) and but she sadly passed away wen her mum Leela Lomax (Kirsty Leigh-Porter) finally arrived in extremely emotional scenes.

Ruby previously revealed that certain scenes she’s filmed over the years were “hard to tackle” given she was “still quite young” when she first joined the show in 2013.

The actress confessed she “wanted to find out how teenagers actually react in these situations” and her commitment was worthwhile as she secured Best Young Actor at the 2016 British Soap Awards and has subsequently received numerous award nominations.

Ruby loves to share her escapades on Instagram and regularly posts pictures from her social events with friends.

She can be seen having a boogie with her mates, sometimes in fancy dress, while basking in the sun in a back garden or on holiday.

The soap star is also a regular festival attendee and keeps her fans updated with her on-set and behind-the-scenes action.

Ruby is currently dating Hollyoaks co-star Nathaniel Dass, who made his debut as Dillon Ray in 2023,

Their characters might not cross paths on screen often but off-screen their romance is blossoming since going Instagram official in 2024.

The actress marked their first anniversary on Instagram by sharing a series of loved-up snaps.

She delighted fans by posting a quartet of adorable pictures, alongside the caption: “1 year with u” capped off with a pink heart pierced by a blue arrow.

Hollyoaks airs Monday to Wednesday on E4 at 7pm and first look episodes can be streamed Channel 4 from 7am

Massive band in talks for shock reunion for 50th anniversary of classic album despite death of singer in 2022

THIS the stuff of Dreams for millions of fans across the globe and now there’s fresh hope for a Fleetwood Mac reunion.

The group have not performed together since 2019 and they were left devastated when Christine McVie died in 2022.

But I’ve been told that there are serious discussions behind the scenes about a series of projects involving all of the remaining members to celebrate the 50th anniversary of their album Rumours, which is among the best-selling and most critically acclaimed records of all time.

At the centre of the plans is said to be Mick Fleetwood, who is leading peace talks between former couple Stevie Nicks and Lindsey Buckingham, as well as John McVie.

A one-off show, a TV special and a documentary about the making of Rumours are among options being discussed for the 2027 milestone.

And Warner Records is also preparing a special re-release of the album featuring unheard material from the original studio sessions.

BAY BABE

A source close to Mick in the US said: “Fleetwood Mac are discussing new projects and how to mark Rumours’ big 5-0. For certain there is a special edition version of the album coming, which the band and label have been secretly looking at.

“But also there is a significant hope that it is time for the definitive documentary on all the chaos in the studio that created the magic on record.

“John and Christine were divorcing and she was dating their lighting guy. Stevie and Lindsey were over just before she and Mick enjoyed a brief fling. And drugs and booze were everywhere.

“The desire is for everyone to sit down and present their side of events on screen.

“And then of course comes the potential for a stage reunion and concert. That is the goal from Mick.

“Stevie has said it would not feel right being on stage without Christine, but also she and Lindsey are on a healing journey right now, which could be the path to a new show.

“However there is a desire to pay tribute to Christine in some way and a live show around Rumours seems a very fitting way.

“The gig would fill a stadium dozens of times because of the love they command.

“But unless some major shift happens, a tour is unlikely at this stage.”

Aaron Bay-Schuck, co-chairman and CEO of Warner Records confirmed at LA’s City of Hope gala that “some very special” music leftover from the making of Rumours had been found.

He said: “We will do everything in our power to respect that anniversary as long as they’ll let us.”

Last month, Stevie and Lindsey suggested relations had thawed when they reissued their 1973 Buckingham Nicks album.

And in March, Mick admitted: “I always have a fantasy that [Stevie] and Lindsey would pal up a bit more and just say everything’s OK for them both.”

They are beloved by an entirely new generation now thanks to social media, so there will be millions around the globe hoping they can patch things up for one last hurrah.

Aaron Bay-Schuck was at City of Hope’s Spirit of Life gala to celebrate co-chairman and Warner Records COO Tom Corson, who was honoured at the event.

It is the centrepiece of the music, film and entertainment industry’s annual philanthropic campaign and raised nearly $6million.

Emmerdale first look as Robert urged to confess to Aaron after Kev’s shock claim

Emmerdale have released a preview for next week that sees Kev make his return to the village after his prison release, where he drops a claim on a confused Victoria Sugden

Robert Sugden’s drama with his secret husband Kev continues on Emmerdale next week.

The character is still hiding the truth about Kev, with only his sister Victoria Sugden knowing who he is. But even she is in for a bombshell of her own, thanks to a comment made by Kev next week.

A new preview shows the moment Robert and Kev are reunited, hugging it out as Kev shows up to see him. Of course he’s staying with his partner Aaron Dingle, with both Aaron and Kev unaware of each other’s situation with Robert.

That all changes next week when Aaron spots Kev and Robert kissing, and the truth comes to light. Prior to this, Robert is hiding his whereabouts from Kev, claiming to be working on the farm when actually he’s been with Aaron.

READ MORE: EastEnders fans ‘work out’ who Okie’s dad is as he opens up – and it’s ‘someone we know’READ MORE: Emmerdale preview teases Robert’s predicament over Aaron and Kev ahead of bombshell

He’s still trying to live two separate lives until he has to spill all, still believing he can keep Aaron and Kev separate. But Kev’s bombshell claim to Victoria sparks more questions, as it emerges Robert has lied about his sister.

Kev announces that Victoria is “looking well” for someone who has had brain surgery. Victoria is baffled, demanding answers from Robert who confesses he lied that he was caring for her.

Having to explain why he’s not been visiting Kev, he’s lied to his husband that Victoria had an operation on her brain and needed to be looked after. In the preview clip, Kev checks in on Victoria with Robert watching on awkwardly.

Victoria then finds out from Kev that he’s staying with Charles and Claudette Anderson as part of his outreach programme. Victoria points out Robert didn’t tell her this information, to which he feigns surprise over missing out this part.

When Kev pops out of the room, Victoria wastes no time in making it clear to Robert that the time is now to confess all. With Kev now staying in the village, she knows it’s only a matter of time before he and Aaron meet.

With that, she tells Robert he has to confess about Kev to Aaron before he finds out from someone else. Robert places his head in his hands, realising he’s in trouble.

Next week spoilers have revealed Kev is introduced to Charles and Claudette, and he soon runs into Aaron. A teaser preview has hinted that Robert tells both Aaron and Kev that neither of them have anything to worry about – but will he regret this?

Emmerdale airs weeknights at 7:30pm on ITV1 and ITVX, with an hour-long episode on Thursdays. * Follow Mirror Celebs and TV on TikTok , Snapchat , Instagram , Twitter , Facebook , YouTube and Threads .

Luke Littler: World champion suffers shock defeat to Beau Greaves in World Youth Championship

Beau Greaves emerged victorious from a 6-5 thriller against Luke Littler as she became the first woman to reach the final of the World Youth Championship.

Littler came into the tournament on the back of his 6-1 demolition of world number one Luke Humphries in the World Grand Prix final on Sunday.

The 18-year-old had breezed through his three matches in the round-robin phase of the event, with wins over Dutchman Jeffrey Keen, Iceland’s Alexander Thorvaldsson and Belgium’s Matthias Moors.

However, the world champion put in a below-par last-16 display against fellow Englishman Charlie Manby.

Littler was on the brink of defeat at 5-3 down to the 20-year-old, before winning the next three legs, then rediscovered his touch in the quarter-finals with a 6-1 victory over Jamai van den Herik of the Netherlands.

Warrington teenager Littler found himself 2-1 down in the semi-final against Greaves but responded by winning three consecutive legs to seize the upper hand.

But three-time WDF women’s world champion Greaves – who is set to accept a PDC Tour card for 2026-27 – rallied to level the match at 4-4 and 5-5.

Greaves then blew Littler away in the decider as she threw an 11-dart leg – the 21-year-old from Doncaster sealing victory with a checkout of 80.

She will meet defending champion Gian van Veen in next month’s final after the Dutchman, 23, clinched a 6-4 win over Sebastian Bialecki of Poland in the other semi-final.

The World Youth Championship final will be played on 23 November in Minehead, before the Players Championship final on the same day.

Littler, who averaged 107.4 to Greaves’ 105, posted on Instagram after his defeat: “Fair play to Beau. All the best in Minehead. Some talent.”

Players aged between 16 and 24 are eligible to compete in the World Youth Championship.

Littler won the youth title in 2023 aged 16, a few weeks before he burst into the spotlight by finishing runner-up at the 2024 World Championship.

Following her achievement, Hunt claimed that she would celebrate with some karaoke.

Quizzed what she’d be singing, the confident star said: “Probably Maneater.

“That’s really boring but I feel like that was the vibe tonight, just sexy and aggressive.”

Hunt, who has a degree in English Literature from Cambridge, continues to have her eyes firmly set on further prizes.

Speaking to The Times, the 200m specialist said: “Obviously, as a female athlete, you also have to plan when you think motherhood is a feasible thing for you.

“But the world is very open to me and I will get a sense of what I want to do when the moment is right.

“I actually always joke to my coach, ‘medals before men’, that’s the quote of the day!”

Hunt has not ruled out balancing her blossoming athletics career with further studies.

She added: “I change my mind on it every year. Immediately after coming out of university I thought about the V&A and doing a Masters — with the hope of maybe going on to do a PhD, because I always thought being ‘Dr Amy’ would be pretty cool.

“But then my mind changed and I think I’d want to actually work at a museum or gallery and curate.

Shock moment man URINATES on altar at St Peter’s Basilica in front of worshippers & tourists in alarming security breach

TOURISTS were left stunned as a man brazenly urinated on a Vatican altar during Holy Mass – in full view of hundreds of worshippers.

The shocking act of desecration unfolded inside St Peter’s Basilica on Friday morning.

A man in a light grey outfit with his pants down is being restrained by another man in a dark suit in front of an altar, with his privates pixelated.

The unidentified man climbed the steps of the Altar of Confession – one of the most sacred spots in Catholicism, where the pope himself traditionally celebrates mass.

Once at then top, he dropped his trousers to his ankles and began urinating over the holy site, according to Corriere della Sera.

The disgusting scene took place during the 9am Holy Mass where stunned visitors looked on in disbelief.

Security officers raced towards the man as the crowd gasped.

Cops grabbed him and dragged him away from the altar as he finished his vile act.

But before they could escort him out, the man bent down so he could pull up his jeans – flashing his bare backside to the horrified onlookers.

The clip, filmed by shocked tourists, has since gone viral online.

“That is absolutely shocking and deeply disrespectful,” wrote one viewer.

“This is vile,” said another.

“There is definitely not enough security here,” a third person added.

It remains unclear whether Pope Leo XIV was present at the time.

The Vatican has not yet released an official statement.

But according to reports, the Pope was “shocked” when he heard what had happened.

The Altar of Confession sits directly beneath Michelangelo’s dome and is considered one of the holiest places in the catholic world.

It’s where the pope often celebrates major masses – and where, in April, Pope Francis was laid in response for public viewing before his funeral.

Because of its significance, the Altar has repeatedly been targeted by intruders in recent years.

In February, a man climbed onto the same altar and knocked six candelabras to the floor.

In February, a man climbed onto the same altar and knocked six candelabras to the floor.

In June 2023, a naked Polish man leapt onto the altar during Mass.

He didn’t speak or cause further damage, but he had the words “Save children of Ukraine” scrawled across his back.

Following that stunt, the Vatican held a penitential rite to cleanse the grounds – a ceremony required under canon law to restore sanctity after desecration.

Friday’s incident has sparked renewed questions about security inside one of the world’s most sacred and most visited churches.

St Peter’s Basilica attracts millions of visitors each year, with tourists often crowding the altar area to witness the grandeur of Vatican ceremonies.

Authorities have not said whether the man has been arrested or charged.

The Vatican’s Holy See Press Office is yet to comment publicly.

The shocking desecration comes amid a wider crackdown on tourists and foreign visitors in Italy.

Earlier this year, the Italian government tightened citizenship laws, making it far harder for Australians and other foreigners to get passports by descent.

In Venice, officials doubled the entry fee for day-trippers and expanded the days it applies.

Last year, two unruly tourists caused outrage after stripping off and swimming in front of a cemetery.

They were spotted by commuters leaving their clothes on the banks of the San Michele Cemetery before plunging into the water.

The Isola di San Michele is home to both a cemetery and a church, and is the burial site of several famous figures, including Russian-born composer Igor Stravinsky.

The repeated stunts and security breaches at major religious sites have raised concerns about how well such locations are being protected.

Friday’s stunt – carried out at the heart of the Vatican – is likely to intensify calls for a security overhaul.

Antiques Roadshow’s highest-ever valued item and it will shock you

One item taken onto the BBC show was valued at ‘well over a million pounds’

Antiques Roadshow regularly wows viewers as hopeful guests discover whether they are sitting on fortunes.

Over the years the BBC favourite has served up plenty of big surprises, from disappointments as people are told that heirlooms they thought might be valuable are higher in sentimental value than pounds, to delight as people discover that knick-knacks from their attics could be worth thousands.

For a lucky few, their visit to the long-running programme proves to be potentially life-changing, with some items reaching the one million pound mark.

In 2008 a maquette of the Angel of the North by Antony Gormley was taken on the show, which is hosted by Fiona Bruce. It ended up being valued at £1 million, becoming the first ever item in Antiques Roadshow’s history to be valued that high.

Then in 2018 another treasure reached the same lofty seven-figure height, when a Faberge flower taken on to the programme was also priced at £1 million.

However, the highest-valued item ever on the show was actually worth even more than a million pounds.

What is the highest-valued item ever on the Antiques Roadshow?

In an episode in 2016, silver expert Alastair Dickenson was asked to appraise an actual FA Cup.

The huge silver trophy was taken onto the television show by presenter Gabby Logan and Leeds United’s former manager and 1972 FA Cup winner Eddie Gray.

It turned out that cup had been made in 1911, although Dickenson felt the fact that it was engraved with a pattern of grapes and vines suggested it might “have been used as a wine cooler or a champagne cooler”.

“I’m sure it’s had plenty of champagne inside over the years,” Gabby agreed, as the TV star laughed: “More than you and I could possibly think of, I think!”

After Dickenson outlined the cup’s history and how it was likely to have been made in Yorkshire, Gabby asked him: “Is it possible to put a value on something like that, with all that history that you’ve just described?”

The expert replied: “This is probably, along with maybe the Wimbledon Trophy, the most famous cup in the country.

“So, I think, quite comfortably, this has got to be worth well over a million pounds.”

“The highest value piece of silver I have ever valued on the Antiques Roadshow,” he added, as Gabby exclaimed: “Wow!”

Antiques Roadshow airs on BBC One at 8pm on Sunday October 12.

BBC Casualty spoilers – shock splits, new romances and surprise arrivals

Casualty aired a dramatic final episode of its latest boxset recently – but the BBC show’s cast has teased some huge scenes ahead, new arrivals and much more drama

Casualty ended this latest boxset with a dramatic series finale, which saw drama, heartbreak and a tragic death. The BBC show is very popular amongst their fans – and it looks like there’s some huge drama ahead in the coming months.

The BBC drama ended last month with some devastating scenes, as it seemed Ngozi had died after suffering a relapse at the airport as her and her young son plan to travel back to Nigeria. Elsewhere, there was trouble for Iain and Faith, who seemed on the verge of splitting from one another as Iain continues to struggle over his mum’s death.

The Mirror got all the gossip from the cast at the Inside Soap Awards, where the stars dropped some huge hints about what’s coming next and what the future holds for their characters.

Two new arrivals

Olly Rix – who plays Flynn – teased there would be drama ahead, and some new arrivals. “We have two new characters coming into Holby and that’s a big part of the next season,” he said.

“When any new character comes in, everyone has to re-orientate themselves. So you see everybody across the breadth of the NHS dealing with these two people.”

Relationship drama

Anna Chell – who plays Jodie – warned it wouldn’t be plain sailing for some of the couples. She said: “There’s quite a few relationship break-ups and new relationships formed. Some maybe the audience don’t expect.”

Naomi Wakszlak – who plays Indie – also gave us an insight on what we can expect for Indie and Cam (Barney Walsh) after the pair finally found love with one another this series.

“We’re going to see them getting a lot closer, which is really nice. I think at first Indie is a bit more into it than Cam is so we have to pull Cam out of his shell, which is really nice. It’s been a lot of fun, I love Barney so it’s been really great working with him. We don’t really get to go inside that much and be with the doctors and nurses so it’s nice to do a bit inside!” she said.

Past wounds revealed

Last series, we learned that Flynn had suffered a devastating loss of a child. This devastating past trauma is set to continue to be explored over multiple boxsets going forward.

“I think when you join this show, everybody’s so well drawn that when you come in, you’re relentlessly exploring this new character and you have to serve everybody else still,” Olly said.

“So it’s something that you do over quite a dragged out period of time, so each boxset, we’re pulling another thread and there’s space to do it over multiple boxsets.”

Real-life drama

Documenting the real life struggles of the NHS – like the BBC drama did one Christmas about the issues with blood supply – is important to the cast, and raising awareness of conditions that might not be well documented on TV.

Sammy Dobson – who plays Nicole – shared: “Doing the postpartum psychosis storyline, the amount of people that reached out to me who have been in a similar situation who have never ever seen that reflected in TV.

“Casualty finds those stories and connects with people who might not see those things on TV and in other places. I think it’s so important to tell those stories.”

Milo Clarke, who plays Teddy, added: “It’s a privilege to be able to tell these stories. For as long as we’ve known, we’ve all been affected or used the NHS or known someone who works for the NHS. It’s very important to represent that.”

Barcelona suffer shock defeat at Sevilla in La Liga | Football News

Barcelona’s unexpected loss to Sevilla drops the Spanish champions two points behind Real Madrid on La Liga ladder.

Sevilla thrashed Barcelona 4-1 on Sunday, ending the champions’ unbeaten start in La Liga and denying them an opportunity to return to the top of the table.

The Andalusian club’s first league win over Barcelona since 2015 lifted them to sixth in the standings with 13 points from eight matches. Barcelona remained second with 19 points, two below leaders Real Madrid.

“It’s one of the happiest days of my life. We deserved to win from start to finish,” said Jose Angel Carmona, who scored Sevilla’s third goal.

Barcelona made a muted start and had no shots on target in the first half an hour, while Sevilla probed early on, looking to unleash Alexis Sanchez with long balls.

Sevilla took the lead in the 13th minute, after Isaac Romero went down while jostling for the ball with Ronald Araujo near Barcelona’s six-yard box, and the referee awarded a penalty to Sevilla after taking a look at the VAR replay.

Sanchez sent former Arsenal teammate Wojciech Szczesny the wrong way to convert the spot kick.

Szczesny stopped Sevilla from doubling their lead in the 27th minute, saving Romero’s shot from inside the box.

Romero, however, doubled Sevilla’s lead 10 minutes later, as Ruben Vargas sprinted past Barcelona’s high defensive line to chase down a through ball near the box, and crossed to the Spanish forward who dispatched a first-time finish.

Marcus Rashford reduced the deficit for Barcelona late in added time before the break, hammering Pedri’s lobbed pass into the net from a tight angle with his left foot.

Lewandowski misses penalty

Barcelona pushed forward in the second half and were handed an opportunity to equalise when Adnan Januzaj brought down Alejandro Balde in the box, but Robert Lewandowski fired wide from the penalty spot in the 76th minute.

The visitors’ hopes of salvaging a point ended in the 90th minute when Carmona shot through a defender’s legs to find the net and put Sevilla 3-1 ahead.

Second-half substitute Akor Adams made it 4-1 five minutes into added time, scoring from Chidera Ejuke’s pass.

“We lacked intensity, we couldn’t get the ball out of our half, we didn’t know what to do with the ball … we were never at our best,” Barcelona midfielder Pedri said.

“We need to improve a lot of things so that we can start winning games again after the break.”

Sevilla, who have won two games in a row, will continue their league campaign after the international break against Mallorca on October 18, the same day Barcelona host Girona.

Shock and disbelief as Manchester community reels from synagogue attack | Religion News

Residents in UK’s Crumpsall say they are shocked after a car and knife attack near synagogue kills two people.

Manchester, England – As people gathered near a synagogue in Manchester, hours after an attack there killed two people, many struggled to make sense of the assault. Attacks don’t happen in places like this, locals say, not least on Yom Kippur.

About 9.30am (08:30 GMT) on Thursday, a man drove his car into people near the Heaton Park Hebrew Congregation Synagogue in Crumpsall in the north of Manchester before emerging to attack others with a knife.

The synagogue’s security staff and members of the public prevented him from entering the building before police arrived and fatally shot the assailant, who appeared to be wearing an “explosive device”, police said. Four injured people were admitted to hospital in serious condition.

Two people have been arrested since the attack, said the Metropolitan Police’s head of counterterrorism policing, Assistant Commissioner Laurence Taylor. The identity and potential motives of the attacker have not been disclosed.

Standing with some of his family on the corner of a nearby road with a police helicopter hovering overhead, 23-year-old Zaki said he still can’t believe what happened.

“I heard the shots this morning,” he told Al Jazeera. “It didn’t seem believable. I thought it was fireworks.”

Zaki echoed the comments of many who gathered around the synagogue. These things don’t happen here, onlookers said. Crumpsall has long been a multicultural area. “Everyone in our community gets on well,” Zaki said. “Our neighbours are Jewish.”

Another resident, 41-year-old Sam Martin, also described struggling to understand the attack.

“There’s everyone here,” he told Al Jazeera, “Muslims, Jews, everyone. I’ve known nothing but love and kindness from our Jewish community. I’m just shocked this could happen.”

According to many people in the neighbourhood, even Israel’s war on Gaza hasn’t caused any great division within the community. However, many expressed concerns that far-right groups – their confidence fuelled after an August campaign to hang English flags across the country and a mass rally in London a month later – would seek to take advantage of the attack to further unrest.

Far-right activist Stephen Yaxley-Lennon, who uses the pseudonym Tommy Robinson, quickly seized upon the attack, assigning blame to groups from the Board of Deputies of British Jews to the United Kingdom’s ruling Labour Party for the assault despite the identity and potential motives of the attacker remaining unclear.

Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Saar criticised British authorities, accusing them of failing to curb anti-Semitism.

“Blatant and rampant antisemitic and anti-Israeli incitement, as well as calls of support for terror, have recently become a widespread phenomenon in the streets of London, in cities across Britain, and on its campuses,” he wrote on X.

British Prime Minister Keir Starmer said the attacker was a “vile” person who was motivated to attack Jews “because they are Jews.”

One of the young men gathered near the police cordon, 23-year-old Akiva, who asked neither to be recorded or have notes taken during his interview out of respect for the holiday, was sure the English far right would seize upon the attack. He said the attack has shaken Jewish residents and would likely sow divisions in the otherwise quiet and well integrated community.

Akiva had come to the synagogue to check on his brother, who normally took a route past the synagogue on his way to worship. He said his mother collapsed when she first heard of the attack so close to their home in Manchester.

Other members of the district’s Jewish community gathered nearby spoke of feeling targeted for their identity, of having been attacked on their holiest day of the year.

Arsenal U19 captain sent off after 15 minutes for horror tackle as club legend watches shock Olympiacos defeat

ARSENAL under-19s midfielder Louie Copley was handed a straight red card in his team’s Uefa Youth League match against Olympiacos today.

The team skipper was sent off for a crunching tackle on Argyrios Liatsikouras just 15 minutes into the game at Boreham Wood’s Meadow Park.

Copley, 18, who signed a professional deal with the club in July, could have few complaints with Italian referee Matteo Marcenaro and it certainly changed the game.

Fellow midfielder Harrison Dudziak took the captain’s armband but Arsenal struggled and conceded twice in the first half to trail 2-0.

Ethan Cortes and Christos Filis were on target for the Greeks.

Olympiacos seemed a lot more pumped-up for the game but Arsenal did improve in the second half despite only having 10 men.

And with seven minutes left, Arsenal sub Josh Ogunnaike pulled one back.

The 17-year-old almost got an equaliser with just seconds left to play, but his effort was saved.

The attempted fightback proved to be unsuccessful for the hosts as they went on to lose 2-1 at Meadow Park.

Former Arsenal midfielder Jack Wilshere, who has previously worked in the youth set-up, was watching from the terraces.

MARRIED At First Sight UK tensions boil over between grooms Steven and Keye – with explosive scenes set to air on Wednesday night’s episode.

He appears furious with Keye

He tells her in a prickly moment: “People don’t need to know my business yet, because you’ll see a side of me probably, you won’t like”.

Moments later, the action cuts to fellow groom Keye as he squares up to Steven in a fiery exchange.

“I’m not trying to come to your relationship. I’m not. Couldn’t give a flying f**k. I’m here for my relationship,” Keye snaps.

But Steven is quick to hit back, firing: “You’re basically telling people to ‘f**k off.’”

Turning back to the camera, Steven fumes: “You are not part of his relationship, so see yourself out.”

The feud comes hot on the heels of the first commitment ceremony, where the couples sat down with the experts to talk through their journeys so far.

Despite the drama Steven and his bride Nelly had earlier looked stronger than ever.

However, she broke down when opening up about her insecurities.

Reflecting on her big day and honeymoon in Jamaica, Nelly said: “As soon as I saw Steven, I just felt really calm. I just got a really nice vibe from him. We had such an amazing time. We didn’t bicker and just got on so well.

“We laughed a lot. We have a similar sense of humour. We are really playful with each other. It’s exactly what I wanted.”

But she admitted her fears soon crept in and said: “I always just think, like, well, when is something gonna go wrong.

“I’m kind of waiting for something to happen, and it freaks me out a little bit, that it hasn’t. Why aren’t we arguing?

“Why haven’t you irritated me? Why haven’t I irritated you? I end up trying to look for something.

“So, for example, I love how affectionate you are on our honeymoon… And then I’d come back to the apartment, and I would kind of think, he’s not giving me a kiss this morning.

“And then I get in my head and think, yeah, ‘cause he doesn’t like you. And then he will give me a kiss and I think, ‘Oh, that was nice. He does like me.’ And it’s just constant.

“And I even feel saying this now, I’m thinking, ‘Oh, my God, this is gonna give him the ik, and it’s gonna push him away.’”

Relationship expert Paul C Brunson then revealed Nelly’s three past relationships had all ended because the men cheated.

But Steven wasn’t scared off – instead, he admitted he was already falling for his bride.

Paul asked him directly: “So you’re on the path?”

Steven replied: “Yeah, 100%. I am.”

Coronation Street spoilers: Asha suicide fears, Tim’s shock past and Todd health scare

Coronation Street spoilers for next week reveal worrying scenes for Asha Alahan, while Kevin Webster wants revenge and Tim Metcalfe’s shocking past is confirmed

There’s some big moments on Coronation Street next week, and some emotional scenes according to new spoilers.

Asha Alahan takes centre stage as she struggles to cope, with a hospital dash sparking fears about her mental wellbeing. Her family are left devastated, with questions raised as to whether she has attempted to take her own life.

There’s concern for Theo Silverton too as he continues to target his partner Todd Grimshaw amid his recent abuse. Abi Franklin is left out in the cold, and Kevin Webster takes brutal action.

The key storyline is Asha’s turmoil which she continues to hide from her loved ones. Her stepmother Bernie Winter is worried about her after recent events, with Asha avoiding work ever since the vile and racist abuse she faced weeks earlier.

Asha remains exhausted and hits the bottle, before telling Brody to mind the shop while she heads out. She leaves Brody panicked as he’s left in charge, with Asha suddenly heading down the street in tears.

But in a concerning turn of events we next see Asha in a bad way, having been found by Theo with Amy Barlow also at the scene. Dev races out and sees a paramedic tending to his daughter, while the paramedic asks Dev and Amy whether Asha may have taken any drugs.

Dev fears for his daughter at the hospital, where he’s met by Asha’s paramedic colleague Sienna who reveals drugs were found on his daughter. Bernie is with him, and she shocks her husband when she asks Sienna if Asha tried to kill herself. Will Asha be okay, and what has happened?

Later in the week Dev spirals over his daughter’s hospital dash. He tells his wife that he can’t help feeling angry that Asha was prepared to put the family through so much pain. So does this mean Asha did try to harm herself?

When Dev visits his daughter at the end of the week, it’s not clear if Asha is okay and if she is, what she will reveal. Elsewhere next week, Tim Metcalfe sparks concern as he faces someone from his past, leading to a worrying confession.

Tim recognises newcomer Trisha as someone he knew in the 80s. When he sees her again later while out for a drink with his wife Sally Metcalfe, Tim explains that they know each other.

Later in the week Trisha pops by at the cab office to see Tim, leaving Sally unnerved. She introduces herself as Tim’s wife, before berating her husband for being with Trisha instead of her.

Sally storms out, leaving Tim to reminisce about Trisha. But what he says about her leaves pal Brian stunned. He claims he was in a relationship with Trisha years earlier, but says he was only 14 years old and she was nearly 20.

Brian wastes no time in accusing Trisha of grooming Tim as a child, leaving her and Tim mortified. Brian urges Tim to face the fact that Trisha groomed him. When Sally finds out about the relationship, Tim admits that he was 14 when Trisha, 20, took his virginity leaving Sally shocked.

Also next week, Theo reappears after his sudden disappearing act last week. With him not being in touch, Todd is concerned for his partner, only for Theo to find an unresponsive Asha slumped on a bench in Victoria Garden.

He shouts for help before he faces a telling off from Todd. When Amy tells Todd that if it wasn’t for Theo things may have turned out very differently for Asha he’s left thoughtful.

Later in the week Todd lies to Theo on the day of Noah’s funeral, hiding from him that he’s got an appointment at the hospital to check for bowel cancer. He tells pal Billy Mayhew who agrees to go with him.

When Theo later spots them together he’s furious. Finally next week, Abi continues her secret relationship with brother-in-law Carl Webster after her split from husband Kevin Webster.

Debbie Webster demands they end things, knowing the truth about their affair. She also urges Kevin to hire a lawyer as Abi “isn’t to be trusted”. Fearing she’s about to be exposed, Abi sends a message to Carl to warn him that Kevin knows everything.

However, Abi is mortified when she realises she’s sent the text to Kevin by mistake. As Carl attempts to get hold of Kevin’s phone to delete the text, will it be too late? It seems so as at the end of the week Kevin kicks her out of the home.

Another day, another life saved by high school athletic trainer

For those high schools in California that still don’t have an athletic trainer, what happened last week at San Clemente High was another reason why they are so valuable for the safety reasons. And also proven was the requirement that coaches be certified in CPR every two years.

As a soccer class was ending last Thursday, an assistant coach fell to the ground. Head coach Chris Murray thought he tripped. Then he looked into his eyes, which appeared dilated, and saw that his face was purple. While a football coach nearby was calling 911, Murray began chest compressions.

Athletic trainer Amber Anaya received a text in her office that said, “Emergency.” She got into her golf cart that contained her automated external defibrilator (AED) machine and raced to the field within two minutes. She determined the coach was in cardiac arrest.

While Anaya hooked up her AED machine to the coach, Murray continued chest compressions. The AED machine evaluated the patient and recommended one shock. This went on for some seven minutes until paramedics arrived. Another shock was given after the paramedics took over.

The coach was transported to a hospital and survived. He would receive a pacemaker. It was a happy ending thanks to people who knew what to do in case of an emergency.

Last school year, the Culver City athletic trainer helped save a track athlete who went into cardiac arrest.

Murray said what he did was based on instincts and adrenaline. As soon as the ambulance left, he said he collapsed to his knee exhausted.

“His ribs are sore but not broken,” Murray said, “so I guess I did good.”

All the preparation in case of an emergency was put to good use by the coach trained in CPR and the athletic trainer who knew how to use an AED machine.

This is a daily look at the positive happenings in high school sports. To submit any news, please email [email protected].

Can Shiba Inu (SHIB) Ever Reach $1? The Math Might Shock You.

While Shiba Inu remains a highly popular cryptocurrency, the token’s price has yet to experience meaningful appreciation.

Over the past several years, cryptocurrency has captured the imagination of investors looking for alternative ways to diversify beyond traditional stocks and bonds. Among the vast array of tokens, Bitcoin and Ethereum have emerged as two of the most mainstream options.

Yet, as with any asset class, some investors seek out opportunities that are more disruptive — though often far riskier, too. In the cryptocurrency realm, Shiba Inu (SHIB -0.20%) exemplifies this dynamic: a token surrounded by immense fanfare but still waiting to deliver the kind of multibagger gains its community hopes for.

With its price still trading at less than a penny, some might see now as a rare chance to get in early on a potentially explosive crypto token before it goes to the moon. Even a move to just $1 could generate life-changing returns. But price is not value, and those dreaming of that $1 level should be asking: Is such a milestone realistic, or merely rooted in fantasy?

Let’s break down some numbers.

A shiba inu dog running on the sidewalk.

What is Shiba Inu?

Shiba Inu was originally created as an altcoin inspired by Dogecoin.

Built on Ethereum’s blockchain, Shiba Inu integrates with decentralized finance (DeFi) applications and smart contracts. Over time, its dedicated developer community has sought to push the token beyond its meme coin origins by adding real utility. Today, the Shiba Inu ecosystem includes ShibaSwap, a decentralized exchange (DEX) that allows users to trade, stake, and earn rewards, along with engaging in other projects tied to gaming and the metaverse.

Still, despite these efforts, Shiba Inu’s value remains heavily rooted in speculation, with prices often moving in tandem with swings in internet culture or hype-driven narratives.

Shiba Inu is a deflationary coin

In cryptocurrency, tokens can be inflationary or deflationary. An inflationary token sees its supply expand over time, while deflationary tokens have mechanisms in place to reduce the number in circulation. Shiba Inu falls into the latter category. Through its burning process, tokens are intentionally sent to inaccessible wallets — permanently removing them from the circulating supply.

In theory, this shrinking supply creates upward pressure on price since the underlying principles of supply and demand suggest that a scarcer asset should become more valuable.

Can Shiba Inu reach $1?

Let’s break down the math behind Shiba Inu reaching $1. Its price right now is $0.00001213, far from a dollar; far from a penny.

At launch, the token carried a staggering total supply of 1 quadrillion tokens. Today, despite years of burns, its circulating supply remains around 589 trillion tokens. If each token were worth $1, Shiba Inu’s market capitalization would approach $600 trillion — more than five times the value of global gross domestic product.

World GDP Chart

World GDP data by YCharts

This makes the idea of a $1 target mathematically out of reach under current conditions. The only remotely conceivable path would involve burning massive amounts of the token’s supply. But here’s the catch: Even after hundreds of trillions of tokens have already been burned, Shiba Inu continues to trade at mere fractions of a cent.

For the token to climb meaningfully higher, it would require either an unprecedented surge of global adoption or a highly coordinated, large-scale burn effort sustained over many years. Both of these scenarios border on implausible.

While it is technically possible for Shiba Inu to reach $1, the economics outlined above make it virtually impossible in practice. The sheer scale of supply, coupled with its dependence on speculation and internet-driven hype rather than durable utility, means Shiba Inu offers little in the way of fundamental value at the moment.

For investors, this positions Shiba Inu less as a prudent and credible long-term holding and more as a speculative gamble akin to a lottery ticket.

Canada shock New Zealand to make Rugby World Cup final

Canada sensationally deposed Women’s Rugby World Cup holders New Zealand, inflicting the Black Ferns’ first defeat in the tournament in 11 years to advance to the final.

It will be only Canada’s second final appearance, after they lost to England in the 2014 showpiece. They could face the Red Roses again with England taking on France in Saturday’s second semi-final.

Whoever the opposition, Canada will be confident of claiming their first world title after ruthlessly burying the Black Ferns in Bristol.

Six-time champions New Zealand came into the game as slight favourites given their pedigree at the business end of World Cups, but Canada were supreme on both sides of the ball and in every department.

In the build-up to the game, Canada had spoken about the belief they had taken from their last two meetings with the Black Ferns – a 22-19 win and a 27-27 draw, both in Christchurch.

Even their most ardent fans though would not have expected victory by such an emphatic margin.

After first-half tries from scrum-half Justine Pelletier, wing Asia Hogan-Rochester, centre Florence Symonds and second row Sophie de Goede, Canada headed down the tunnel 17 points clear.

Three minutes after the restart, centre Alex Tessier, who plays her club rugby in Exeter, stepped off her right foot and sauntered in to make it 31-7 and all but extinguish Kiwi hopes.

New Zealand won their world title by overhauling England’s double-digit lead at Eden Park three years ago.

However, they did not have to make up such a vast deficit and, despite Liana Mikaele-Tu’u crossing from close range and Braxton Sorensen-McGee being put in by Ruahei Demant’s cross-field punt, they never looked like producing another famous comeback as 24,392 fans at Ashton Gate acclaimed the victors.

More to follow.
