Inside original Five line-up’s comeback gig after 25 years packed with 90s hits, screaming fans & impressive dancing

THE original line-up of Five have finally stepped back on stage for the first time in 25 years.

Eight months since they announced their comeback in Bizarre, fans swarmed to the Utilita Arena in Cardiff.

Five hours before kick-off, I joined Abz Love, Jason “J” Brown, Ritchie Neville, Scott Robinson and Sean Conlon as they flitted between agony and ecstasy backstage . . .

Sipping an Asahi 00, Scott says with a laugh: “I’m a nervous wreck,” just as Ritchie brings me a handmade lucky charm from a fan who has flown all the way from China.

He says: “Do you want to have a hold of my ball?”

J adds: “He’s flown over from China. It’s taken him 15 hours. He’s taken two weeks off work and he’s seeing six shows.

ROCKER GONE

Brit rocker dies as band pays tribute to ‘one of the greatest frontmen ever’

“He’s renamed himself J and he gave us all these lovely gifts. He made that ball himself.

“And he’s got silk scarves for us all too. He embroidered them all himself. It’s a really nice touch.”

Telling me the ball is a symbol of good luck, Abz interjects and jokes: “Or he’s cursed them and we’re all f***ed.”

‘Getting shirty’

But they most certainly are not. As Five walk on stage to deafening screams later in the evening, they are slick, solid and on song.

The set begins with a bang, with the lads emerging from a haze of smoke before they burst into Slam Dunk (Da Funk) and Got The Feelin’.

For a band who last performed together two decades ago, they’ve not lost their chemistry.

Recalling the run-up to the first night, Ritchie explains: “The rehearsals had all gone great but two days ago, I was a wreck.

“As it went on, for the first time we had a couple of moments where we were getting shirty with each other.

“We all had to just step back and say, ‘Let’s just really look at the situation with 48 hours to go until the first gig.

“Let’s just acknowledge that whatever level of stress you think you’re at, you’re actually probably a little bit more’.

“We just worked to get through it all.”

The screams of fans — including a woman holding up a message that reads: “Get your tops off” — never subside as they whip through their back catalogue. Their rendition of 1998 track When the Lights Go Out proves emotional.

Fans who were looking forward to seeing the proper Nineties choreography got a treat.

It’s clear the lads have worked hard to get to this point.

“We’ve actually got new routines,” J says with a smile.

Scott adds: “The old moves didn’t come back immediately but there was some muscle memory there.

“Paul Domaine, our choreographer, he’s less spiky than he was in the Nineties.”

Abz jokes: “We’re better behaved now,” before J adds: “We’re better than we were before, but we’re not giving the behaviour of fully grown men with kids at nearly 50 years of age.”

Ritchie adds: “He was dealing with naughty school kids but now at least we’re applying ourselves a bit.”

Sitting in the underbelly of the arena, Five are physically and mentally in the best place they’ve ever been.

“We’ve been saying to everyone that we’re going to do the best tour ever,” Scott tells me.

“We said we would bring it all: the vocals, the dance moves. We weren’t just saying it though. We believed it.”

Sean adds: “It is 100 percent the best show we have ever done. Better than anything in the Nineties.

“It’s like everything’s been delayed to get to this point. It’s been 25 years. It’s meant to be.”

A-list celebrities including Cara Delevingne have been slipping into their DMs to blag tickets to the tour, which will see Five playing 24 more shows across the UK and Ireland, including Brighton tonight.

But Five have kept the first night more intimate.

Scott says: “My wife Kerry is here with my twin girls.

“They’ve never seen us perform as a five-piece in their lives.

“On the journey up here, one of my girls sent me a message and I let the boys read it. I couldn’t do it because I kept crying.

“She said how proud she was of me. She’s 11 years old. I thought, ‘This is going to be epic’.

“All I know is that I am going to be crying my eyes out.”

The atmosphere rocks up a notch with Let’s Dance and Everybody Get Up, before Five knock through a medley of House Of Pain’s Jump Around, Place Your Hands by Reef and Daft Punk’s Get Lucky.

A final encore of Keep On Movin’ closes a history-making first night and Five are grinning like Cheshire cats.

On stage, Sean takes a moment to reflect and turns to his bandmates as he says: “We are lucky guys.”

As the band rallies round him, he adds: “I just wanted to say, I did not expect that so many years on it would mean so much to so many people.”

Ash a Madge coney phoney

ASHLEY ROBERTS looked the image of Madonna in this outfit for Halloween – as hopes build she will return with the Pussycat Dolls.

She was certainly more treat than trick in bright-red lippy and iconic Jean Paul Gaultier-style cone bra, just like the pop superstar on her Blond Ambition tour from 1990.

It comes as Ashley’s former bandmate Nicole Scherzinger teased “possibilities” for the group, after settling a legal dispute with the group’s founder Robin Antin, which derailed their planned 2020 arena tour.

Nicole told LA Times: “Our lawsuit is settled. That should have never happened. That was an unfortunate mistake on someone’s part – not mine.

“However, time heals things, and grace is always beautiful in life. I’m very positive and, dare I say, excited for the possibilities to come on the horizon.”

Shona bid for charts stardom

EASTENDERS’ Shona McGarty is following in the footsteps of fellow Walford favourites Nick Berry, Martine McCutcheon, Sid Owen and Michelle Gayle with a music career.

The actress, who played Whitney Dean in the soap from 2008 to 2024, has today dropped her debut single Unapologetically Me in a bid to make a name as a powerhouse vocalist.

The track was co-written and produced by hitmaker Steve Anderson.

He has previously worked with Kylie Minogue and Britney Spears, so she’s off to a good start.

Shona said: “I wrote Unapologetically Me as a reminder to myself, and to anyone who’s ever felt pressure to be someone they’re not – that it’s OK to simply be who you are.

“Having spent years in the public eye, surrounded by glitz, glam, and expectation, I’ve often felt the need to play a character, to present a polished version of myself that fits what people want to see.

“But beneath all that, I’m just human. I’m silly, sensitive, strong, and imperfect, and that’s OK.”

Freya returns as Wicker Woman

FREYA RIDINGS is pulling no punches on comeback single Wicker Woman – the first taste of her third album that’s coming out in 2026.

The English singer-songwriter, who posed in this striking and spooky black dress, said of the song that is released today: “It’s an unashamed, euphoric celebration of reclaiming primal feminine power, a return to the core of who we are, and an ode to the forgotten women and gods who came before us.”

Mika is also making a return today with his single Modern Times, ahead of an arena tour next spring, and Jessie J releases H.A.P.P.Y.

British boyband ABSNT MIND have put out their latest single Stitch and fresh from winning over a new fanbase on The Celebrity Traitors, Cat Burns has dropped her second album, How To Be Human.

Lily on tour

LILY ALLEN will perform her new album West End Girl in its entirety on a 13-date UK tour next year.

She will hit the road for the first time since 2019, kicking off at Glasgow’s Royal Concert Hall on March 2.

Tickets go on sale from 10am next Friday.

KT’s got eye on Prada 2

SOMEHOW it has been 20 years since KT Tunstall broke on to the scene with her debut album Eye To The Telescope.

The record peaked at No3 in the UK charts and spawned a series of hits including Black Horse And The Cherry Tree, Other Side Of The World and Suddenly I See, which featured in 2006’s The Devil Wears Prada.

Now with Devil Wears Prada 2 set for release in 2026, KT is back in the studio working on a follow-up track which she hopes film bosses will use in a full-circle moment.

KT told Bizarre: “I would love them to use Suddenly I See, but I think they will want to move it on.

“I am writing a song to pitch to them as it’s the 20th anniversary of that too and they are using the same cast.

“I am coming up with a sequel. Who knows if they will be interested but I am going to give it a shot.”

She has today released a special 20th anniversary edition of Eye To The Telescope featuring a series of new tracks including Anything At All – which sees KT duet with her younger self.

She said: “It was so weird. I’m listening to this young woman who hasn’t had a record out yet.”

The never-before-heard title track is also on there.

She added: “I’d only written the verse and chorus and then I abandoned it.

“But the record label said, ‘Why don’t you finish that song?’ It was difficult as I couldn’t really get myself back to what I was thinking at the time. It’s really cool it has taken 20 years to write the song.”

Promising hint

FLEETWOOD MAC greats Lindsey Buckingham and Stevie Nicks have given a promising hint that the band will reunite for the 50th anniversary of their album Rumours.

The former couple had a huge fallout in 2018 but have revealed they are now back in touch after re-releasing their 1973 joint album Buckingham Nicks – so they really could come back together for the band.

The pair were interviewed separately about the making of the record, for the podcast Song Exploder.

But proving they are back in touch, Stevie said on the episode: “Lindsey and I started talking about it last night. This whole thing seems really like yesterday to us.”

This Disruptive Emerging Technology Stock Is Up Nearly 4,000% Since 2024. Is It Overheated or Is It a Screaming Buy?

Shares of AST SpaceMobile have climbed into the stratosphere.

Artificial intelligence (AI) stocks may have gotten most of the attention from investors over the last few years, but some of the period’s top-performing stocks don’t hail from the AI space — at least, not directly.

Instead, they represent emerging technologies like quantum computing, electric vertical takeoff and landing (eVTOL) aircraft, small modular nuclear reactors, and rockets and satellites. The artificial intelligence boom has provided a halo effect to other emerging technologies, as growth investors have become particularly keen to find those that might power the next breakout trend. Investing early in the company that may launch the next ChatGPT would produce huge returns, the thinking seems to go.

Thanks to the speculative optimism about their potential, many of these tech stocks have delivered returns of more than 1,000%, outperforming even Nvidia. However, few hot growth stocks have beaten AST SpaceMobile (ASTS -5.49%), which is building a satellite-based broadband network.

While it has yet to generate meaningful revenue, excitement around the business and its potential have surged recently as it has forged new agreements with customers.

ASTS Chart

ASTS data by YCharts.

Over just the last 18 months, a $1,000 investment in AST SpaceMobile would have grown into a stake worth more than $35,000. But with that climb behind it, is it too late to buy the stock?

What is AST SpaceMobile?

AST SpaceMobile is sometimes lumped together with other space and rocket companies like Rocket Lab, Planet Labs, and SpaceX and its Starlink subsidiary, but the company says its technology can be used with existing unmodified smartphones and operates within the low- and mid-band spectrum used by mobile network operators. That contrasts with existing space-based telecom services that are intended for low-data-rate applications, such as emergency service.

The company is building the first global cellular broadband network to connect with everyday smartphones. It intends for the technology to be used for commercial and government purposes, and is designed to reach places that are not covered by terrestrial cell towers.

It is deploying a constellation of low-Earth-orbit satellites and partnering with other telecoms to provide service to users. Founded in 2017, AST SpaceMobile launched its first test satellite in 2019 and now has a total of six satellites in orbit. It aims to have 45 to 60 satellites in orbit by 2026, serving the U.S., Europe, Japan, and other markets.

AST SpaceMobile has signed partnership deals with several global telecom companies, including AT&T, Vodafone, and Rakuten, and the stock just jumped on news that it had its expanded partnership with Verizon, adding to an earlier $100 million commitment from the telecom giant. According to the new agreement, Verizon will integrate AST SpaceMobile’s satellite network with Verizon’s 850 MHz spectrum across the country, allowing Verizon’s service to reach remote areas it doesn’t currently cover.

Is AST SpaceMobile a buy?

The company expects to start booking meaningful revenues in the second half of the year. Management forecasts $50 million to $75 million in sales in the second half of 2025 as it deploys intermittent service in the U.S. That will soon be followed by service coming online in other markets like the U.K., Japan, and Canada.

Management hasn’t given a forecast for 2026, but investors expect its financial momentum to continue to build as new satellites go into service. The Wall Street consensus now predicts $254.9 million in revenue in 2026.

The company’s momentum, partnerships, and satellite deployments all sound promising, but much of its expected future success is already baked into the stock price.

AST SpaceMobile’s market cap has already soared to $31 billion, a huge number for a company that has yet to generate significant revenues. Notably, it also competes in an industry — internet connectivity — with notoriously low valuations. Verizon has a market cap of $172 billion, even though it generated nearly $20 billion in profits over its last four quarters. Internet service providers carry similarly underwhelming valuations. For example, broadband and cable service provider Charter Communications has a market cap of $36 billion, and it brought in $5 billion in net income over the last year.

The size of AST SpaceMobile’s total addressable market isn’t fully clear, though management says the global wireless services market produces over $1.1 trillion in annual revenue.

AST SpaceMobile is competing globally, which differentiates it from domestic services like Verizon. However, as it’s currently structured, the satellite company essentially aims to be a subcontractor for larger telecoms, and the telecom industry is decidedly unexciting, according to investors. As long as it’s beholden to that low-valuation ecosystem, it’s difficult to picture how the company could deliver the kind of blockbuster returns that investors seem to expect, especially considering that telecom is a mature industry.

At $31 billion, AST SpaceMobile’s market cap seems to have gotten well ahead of the reality of the business, especially as commercialization could present unforeseen challenges. In the near term, the stock could move higher if it signs more partnerships or announces other promising news, but given the sky-high valuation, the stock now looks overheated.

With AST SpaceMobile, investors are playing with fire at this point. Eventually, they’ll get burned.

Love Island fans ‘screaming’ as Shea issues brutal one-word comment to fellow Islander

Love Island fans were left in shock after Shea issued a brutal comment to Helena as the Islanders played a game of Spin the Bottle during Sunday night’s episode

The drama continued on tonight’s Love Island as another game revealed some home truths. In the latest episode, the Islanders sat down for a brutal game of Spin The Bottle – and of course, drama followed. One Islander who stole the show, however, was Shea.

The rules were simple, whoever the bottle landed on, had to take a card which read either truth or dare. It was then left up to the Islanders to get creative and think about a truth or dare for that specific person.

When it got to Shea’s turn, he was asked to go around the firepit and deliver one word to describe each of his fellow Islanders. He called Shakira cute, while calling his former partner Yasmin fake. However, it was Helena who got the most brutal comment.

Harry and Helena

“Mug,” he said, referring to her back and forth with Harry, who has continued to flirt with Yasmin and Shakira – even sharing three kisses with Yasmin on the Hideaway Terrace. However, it looked like Helena saw the funny side of the comment, saying she “agrees” with his brutal words.

“I think every given opportunity Harry has mugged me off left, right and centre,” she said.

During the comment, fans took to X, formerly known as Twitter to share their disbelief as one penned: “Shea said Mug and didn’t even flinch I’m screaming #LoveIslandUK #loveisland, while another agreed: “shea calling helena a mug to her face is sending me tho #loveisland!”

“‘Helena. Mug.’ is f*****g wild,” said a fourth, while another said: “MUG?! The cackle I just cackled”.

Shae entered the villa as a bombshell alongside Islander Remell. Although Remell formed a connection with Alima as soon as stepping into the villa, Shea’s journey has been a bit more difficult.

He was originally coupled up with Yasmin, however, things didn’t work out for the pair, as they went their separate ways. Yasmin then formed a connection with Harry – although his eyes have continuously gone back to Shakira.

Elsewhere, Helena landed on a dare and Dejon dared her to kiss the person that she’d chose to recouple with, leading to her kissing new bombshell Harrison.

Later, Megan pulled a truth card, and Harry asked her how she really felt about Conor. Megan is currently happily coupled up with Tommy. However, in a shock twist on Friday night, Conor, who is coupled up with Emily, revealed he fancies Megan.

Responding to Harry’s question, Megan tells the group: “Me and Conor got on from the start and that got cut short so I feel like there’s unfinished business there, as you would say [Harry]”.

Will Conor and Megan go any further?

Love Island star left screaming as she flees man she fears was following her at night

Former Love Island star Patsy Field has told fans that she is now ‘scared’ to walk around her local area in London after fearing that she was being followed by a man recently

A former Love Island star has said that she is “scared” to walk around her local community after an experience just days ago whilst out at night on her own. She has expressed concern that she was being followed by someone.

Patsy Field, 30 – who appeared on the ITV2 show last year – said in a video on TikTok recently that she had been walking alone in Bromley one evening when a man seemingly started to follow her. She said that after both crossing the road a few times, she ended up screaming and running away.

The reality TV star shared her concern in a four-minute video that she uploaded to the platform three days ago. In the video, Patsy asked her followers if she was “overthinking it” or was justified to have felt “scared” for her life.

She asked: “Do you think I’m overreacting or not? Basically something happened to me yesterday that has just never happened to me before and it freaked me out and now I’m scared to like walk around in my local area.”

Patsy said that she had been out for a meal in London with her family before deciding to “walk it all off” after getting home. She suggested it was around 8pm and said she’s “never had any issues” in the area that she’s from in Bromley.

She told fans that she had been wearing a gym outfit, which she said “maybe is a bit revealing”. Patsy added in the video message on her account: “I’ve never had any issues before [though]. Always felt like quite safe where I’m from.”

The former islander said she had headphones on which are “quite noise cancelling”. She added: “Walking for about 10 minutes up the road and I just get the urge to just turn around. […] There’s a man walking like one or two steps behind me.”

She said that he “startled” her and she initially felt “panic,” but Patsy told fans that she encouraged herself not to overthink the situation. She added: “He was very close and he was like making eye contact with me when I turned around.”

Patsy said that she then decided to cross the road. She said that, after taking a couple of steps on the other side of the road, she decided to look back. “Turn around, he’s crossed the road. He’s on the other side of the road as well,” she said.

She questioned if it was a “weird coincidence” and said that she had noticed some cars lined-up on that side of the road, suggesting that she wondered if he was going to one of them. She said that she decided to cross the road again though.

Patsy said that she thought at the time: “This is gonna be really awkward but now I’m gonna cross the road back over again just to get away from him for sure and make sure I know that he’s definitely not following me.”

She continued: “Cross the road, back over to the original side that I was on, I look over across the road and he’s crossing back to the original side that we were both on.” She added: “Now we’re both back on the other side of the road so I just thought ‘oh my God, what do I do?'”

The content creator appeared to say that she then “stopped dead in [her] tracks”. Patsy said that she decided to stand still and suggested to viewers: “If he’s got somewhere to be, he’s gonna carry on walking isn’t he?”

Patsy Field in a red dress stood in front of a painting on a wall.

She then appeared to tell fans that he carried on walking towards a zebra crossing at the end of the road. She said that he crossed the zebra crossing, adding: “Just as he’s about to go out of sight, like away, he stops, he turns back around and he just starts walking back towards me.”

“So he’s on the other side of the road but he’s walking towards me and looking at me so I’m still stood where I stopped,” she said. Patsy added: “As he gets closer to me, he just starts crossing the road back towards me and then I thought ‘run’. I literally started screaming.”

Patsy said that she then called her mother and told her that someone was “following” her. She added: “So I run as fast as I can out of the way and he doesn’t follow me, as far as I’m aware.” She appeared to say: “I didn’t look back I just kept f***ing running.”

She said that her mum came and got her. Patsy said that what happened felt like “too much of a coincidence, adding: “Now I’m scared to walk in my own area which is a shame cause I’ve never had an issue before.” Warning others, she said shortly before ending the video message: “Stay safe girls.”

Patsy’s post has more than 40,000 likes on the platform. Fans shared supportive messages in the comments section, with the reality TV star receiving well wishes and advice from some of her followers on TikTok after posting the video.

Screaming tourists ‘thought they were going to die’ in failed Enter Air plane landing

British ex-pat Peter Kempson’s video of a terrifying failed landing in popular holiday hotspot Rhodes has gone viral, with passengers on the Boeing 737 fearing for their lives

Nervous flyers should look away now. In horrifying scenes that left tourists fearing for their lives, a passenger jet ‘bounced’ down the runway and almost crashed after a chilling ‘missed landing’.

The Enter Air plane was travelling from Poland to the holiday island of Rhodes in Greece when the windy conditions caused chaos as it attempted to touch down on the runway.

The plane had experienced a missed landing, meaning the pilot had to abort his approach at the last minute due to dangerous winds. According to British ex-pat Peter Kempson, who posted a video of the drama on Facebook, the situation was dire.

“Having already done one aborted missed approach, the Enter Air Boeing 737-800 (SP-ESE) – arriving from Gdansk, Poland – bounced on the runway and came very close to an engine or wing strike,” said the aviation enthusiast, who was enjoying a coffee in the Airport View Café with friend Tony Cowell when he filmed the bumpy landing.

The 71-year-old’s video attracted more than 300,000 videos on the social media site, with one commenter having first hand experience of the scary landing. “I cried on that plane,” said Marta. “I thought we were going to die. Everyone was screaming.”

Landing on its second approach, the Enter Air plane was filmed bouncing from side-to-side on the runway after the hard landing at Rhodes International Airport last Friday. “Being an aviation enthusiast with a like-minded old friend visiting from the UK, we decided to go to the Airport View Cafe,” said Peter. “With the windy conditions that day, we thought the excellent viewing location of the cafe would be worth visiting to watch the arriving aircraft land in the very challenging conditions.

“Strong crosswinds can lead to many missed approaches, bumpy landings and diversions at the airport.” The plane fan praised the pilot of the Boeing 737 for having “showed great skills in very challenging weather conditions”.

At the time of landing, there were crosswinds of up to 45kph. “Rhodes Airport is known for challenging landings when the wind is from the south east and above 15 knots,” Peter explained. “This is due to hills on the landward side or the airport often creating wind shear. Nine times out of 10, Rhodes airport has westerly winds which align with the runway and are more stable.”

Reports suggested several other flights had been diverted to nearby airports including Athens, Kos and Dalaman due to the strong winds on Friday. Locals commenting on Peter’s video included Terry who said it was: “Very close to fatal crash” with Keeley admitting: “I would be crying if I was on the this one”.

Other people were full of praise for the skill of the flight crew, with one local saying: “Jeez, that was risky…” and another adding: “Congratulations to the pilots and the crew of the aircraft”.
