Emmerdale’s Joe Tate threatened Dr Crowley amid his plan to fleece Kim Tate being revealed on the ITV soap on Monday night, but could someone else trigger his downfall?

There’s trouble on Emmerdale as Dr Crowley continued to target Joe Tate and Kim Tate, but could a downfall be set?
Viewers learned last week that Kim’s mystery new man Eddie was in fact Joe’s surgeon and accomplice Crowley. He’d helped Joe steal a kidney, operating on him and performing the transplant after Joe had his own uncle Caleb Miligan stabbed.
He needed the kidney to survive after being diagnosed with chronic kidney disease and instead of going through the usual process, he stole Caleb’s. Crowley was mortified by this and disappeared in the days that followed.
Now he’s back for revenge, with him threatening Joe last week and revealing he was after Kim’s money. He wants Joe to steal the money from Kim and send it to him, so he can flee.
On Monday night Joe refused and pulled a shotgun on Crowley. But Crowley saw right through him and knowing he would not pull the trigger, he pushed the rifle away and left.

Soon Joe realised he had no option to do as Crowley said, and he put together a plan to convince Kim to invest some money. He then told Crowley to leave, telling him his plan was underway and he’d get him the money.
But, having already threatened Dawn Taylor amid her romance with Joe, as well as her kids, he refused to leave until the money was in his account. Kim then thanked Joe for his support, making Joe feel pretty guilty about betraying her.
It’s clear though that Joe is stuck, and he knows he can’t just ignore Crowley – so it’s unlikely he will trigger his new nemesis’ downfall. But what id someone else is onto Crowley?
Kim made a comment when Joe suggested she should be careful as she barely knows ‘Eddie’. She commented that she wasn’t someone likely to be tricked, saying she was “no fool”.

The emphasis on this no doubt sparked suspicions, given she’s said similar things in recent weeks, and with her often proving she is not to be messed with. So might Kim be playing Eddie AKA Crowley at his own game?
Might she be onto the fact that things have moved very quickly and he could be about to get her? Might she have actually seen him with Joe in the past, and might she know who he really is?
Then there’s Dawn, who seems supportive of her stepmother’s new romance just months on from her dad Will’s death. But could she be onto him, and perhaps she alone or with the help of Kim or even Joe, might be what eventually brings Crowley down?
A cause of death has been revealed for Aussie actor Julian McMahon, who played Dr. Doom in two “Fantastic Four” movies and Christian Troy in the TV drama “Nip/Tuck,” among other roles.
McMahon died of cancer, according to a statement from Kelly McMahon, his wife.
He had head and neck metastatic cancer, and he ultimately succumbed to lung metastasis, according to CNN, which obtained a cremation approval summary report from the medical examiner’s office in Pinellas County, Florida. An investigator with the office declined to confirm the details of the report in an after-hours call with The Times.
McMahon died July 2 at age 56. His remains have been cremated, the medical examiner’s report said.
“Julian loved life,” Kelly McMahon said in her statement. “He loved his family. He loved his friends. He loved his work, and he loved his fans. His deepest wish was to bring joy into as many lives as possible.”
A representative for the actor could not immediately be reached.
Those who worked with McMahon took to social media to mourn the loss of the actor.
“We worked together for many years, covering every possible storyline and then some,” said Richardson. “I remember the episode when we all had to age up with prosthetics — how we laughed then, and how it’s making me cry today … You lived a large life my friend, bravo.”
Alyssa Milano recounted her memories with McMahon on the set of “Charmed.” The pair’s characters — Phoebe Halliwell and Cole Turner — were married in the ’90s fantasy series.
“Julian was more than my TV husband,” Milano said on Facebook and Instagram. “He was a dear friend. The kind who checks in. The kind who remembers. The kind who shares. The kind who tells you the truth, even when it’s uncomfortable — but always with love.”
McMahon had many roles on his resume. One fan noted in an X comment that, no matter what part he played, his performance was captivating.
“Julian McMahon had that rare presence — magnetic, mysterious, unforgettable. Whether a villain or a hero, a conflicted soul or a charming friend, he pulled you in,” one user shared in an X comment.
“Julian McMahon’s legacy will live on,” another user shared in an X post. “Through Charmed, through Cole Turner. He raised many kids around the world he didn’t even know about.”
McMahon is survived by his wife, Kelly, and his 25-year-old daughter, Madison, according to People. He had Madison with his ex-wife, Brooke Burns, who played Jessie Owens in “Baywatch.” The two divorced in 2001.
Love Island’s stars reunited in tonight’s episode as Casa Amor came to an end after just two days – but viewers weren’t to happy with where the episode finished

Love Island’s episode of Casa Amor proved to be explosive tonight
It’s been a dramatic week on Love Island with tears shed and kisses shares during the short two days of Casa Amor. Tonight’s episode saw the boys and girls reunite after getting to know the Casa Amor recruits and while fans were left raging after watching Tommy leave Emily single as he returned to the villa, it’s not for reasons you may expect.
Love Island viewers took to social media to slam the show after it left fans on a huge cliffhanger – and predict who will be the next stars to leave the villa.
Casa Amor has officially come to an end (Image: ITV)
Towards the end of the recoupling, Emily revealed that she had chosen to stick with Tommy during his time at Casa Amor – saying that their connection is “as strong as she thought it was”.
“So all the boys were really really lovely but all in all, the connection wasn’t as strong as it was with Tommy,” she said.
“It’s been hard. Obviously, I’ve missed seeing him around the villa and sharing a bed together. It will be nice to have him back by himself hopefully.”
Unfortunately for Emily, Tommy walks back in with his Casa Amor beau Lucy – leaving all the girls gobsmacked. “F**k off,” Helena said, while Emily added; “Oh Christ.”
Speaking under her breath, Emily said: “Oh, Tommy,” and after Maya welcomed them to the villa, the programme abruptly ended.
Fans weren’t too happy with the cliffhanger, with one writing on X: “ffs love island ending on that cliffhanger so annoying #LoveIslandUK #LoveIslandUK.”
Meanwhile, others weren’t impressed with the show ending on Tommy and Emily.
“Tommy and Emily weren’t deep enough for this cliffhanger to be justified #LoveIsland #LoveIslandUK,” one viewer wrote. Another said: “sorry, leaving tommy and emily as the cliffhanger??? love island has downgraded big time.”
Meanwhile, some fans predicted that it would be single islanders Emily and Giorgio who would be dumped from the villa in tomorrow night’s episode after reports that six islanders were dumped following Casa Amor.
Another said: “6 islanders have been dumped and there’s only 4 single casa islanders… which means gio and emily have also been dumped #loveisland.”
A third said: “Oh my god apparently everyone not picked tonight is getting dumped. Emily and Giorgio will be gone which means the mean girls are gonna erupt on Tommy #loveisland#loveislanduk.”
Cost-cutting measures at ITV have resulted in a huge change for its daytime scheduling as 220 jobs are at risk and hit shows and presenters are facing a major shakeup
23:49, 08 Jul 2025Updated 23:56, 08 Jul 2025
Richard Arnold’s future at ITV has been revealed
ITV is set to make a huge change to their daytime scheduling, with jobs being put at risk – however, one star is reportedly safe from the cuts. The big changes have left staff, as well as viewers, unsure of what the future holds for their favourites on the channel.
They have decided to overhaul Loose Women and Lorraine as part of new cost-saving measures. From 2026, Lorraine Kelly’s morning programme will be shortened to a 30-minute slot, airing from 9.30am to 10am instead of its current hour-long format. It will also only be broadcast for 30 weeks out of the year, meaning the stand-in hosts who currently replace Lorraine when she is on holiday will be out of a job. Loose Women is also facing significant changes, and will soon only be airing “on a seasonal basis for 30 weeks of the year” according to ITV bosses.
Richard Arnold has worked on Good Morning Britain since 2014
The risks to jobs has left some fans wondering if their favourites could be axed. Thankfully, for those who love a bit of showbiz gossip from Good Morning Britain’s guru Richard Arnold, they have nothing to worry about.
He has reportedly kept his job amid the sweeping changes at ITV as some 220 staff face redundancies. Richard has fronted the entertainment news on the ITV morning show since it launched in 2014.
According to reports, he has been told he is safe along with his team, who are known as “RAP” for Richard Arnold Producers. A source told The Sun: “Richard is one of ITV daytime’s best-loved faces never mind on GMB.
“Viewers enjoy his slots and he remains very much part of the furniture.” Richard’s Good Morning Britain co-stars Andi Peters and Jeff Brazier haven’t had as much luck, however.
The pair have been lucky enough to call flying to far-out luxury locations part of their job, yet it won’t be for much longer. They would often pop up in some far flung location, encouraging viewers to try their luck and be in with a chance of winning thousands of pounds on shows, including Lorraine, This Morning and Loose Women.
Yet, ITV will, reportedly, no longer be shelling out for presenters such as Andi and Jeff to sun themselves on sun-kissed beaches while working for the broadcaster in its latest cost-cutting exercise.
This year alone, Andi has broadcast from the Maldives, Australia, Cape Town and Florida while Jeff has jetted off to Thailand, Sri Lanka and Malta.
Kevin Lygo, Managing Director of ITV’s Media and Entertainment Division, announced the changes in May, where he had said the changes were necessary to “generate savings”.
He said: “Daytime is a really important part of what we do, and these scheduling and production changes will enable us to continue to deliver a schedule providing viewers with the news, debate and discussion they love from the presenters they know and trust as well generating savings which will allow us to reinvest across the programme budget in other genres.
“These changes also allow us to consolidate our news operations and expand our national, international and regional news output and to build upon our proud history of trusted journalism at a time when our viewers need accurate, unbiased news coverage more than ever.”
“Some staff believe Loose Women and Lorraine in particular will enter a death spiral… it’s just so sad. Just a handful of people will be working on each of those two programmes which has huge ramifications for how they are going forward.”
The Mirror has contacted ITV and Richard’s representatives for comment.

Emmanuel and his wife Brigitte have arrived in the UK ahead of tonight’s state banquet at Windsor Castle.
However, footage of the pair arriving suggests there could be tension between them according to body language expert Judi James.
After Emmanuel is safely on solid ground, he turns around to offer his arm to his wife as she descends the stairs from the plane.
Yet Brigitte refuses Emmanuel’s gesture, leaving him awkwardly holding his arm in mid-air.
The pair then begin to greet members of the Royal Family who have been awaiting their arrival.
Judi said: “Macron appeared determined to take a joyfully tactile approach to everyone he met today, with exception of his wife.
She added that Brigitte looked “less charmed by her husband’s attempts at a more tactile approach, refusing his offer of a hand to help as she stepped down from the plane”.
While Brigitte does smile at her husband once she’s by his side, the couple quickly begin greeting their hosts.
Judi said: “His greeting ritual for William was almost intimate enough to suggest he was family.
Kate & William welcome Macron for first UK state visit in 17 years – as thousands gear up for Windsor carriage ride
“He clasped William’s hand for several long seconds, using his left hand to perform a volley of add-on pats and clasps as he did so, each one suggesting close bonding and familiarity.”
After placing his hand over William’s, he then moves it to the prince’s lower arm.
This “intensified the familiarity signals” according to Judi, as Emmanuel moves his hand above William’s elbow before moving it back down to the lower arm.
Emmanuel then moves on to greet Kate, while Brigitte in turn greets William.
In a “creakingly out of date ritual” according to Judi, Emmanuel leans down to kiss the back of Kate’s hand.
Judi said: “This gesture looks gallant but it leaves the woman being kissed with little option but to giggle prettily.”
While Emmanuel leaned down to kiss Kate’s hand, Charles instead raises Brigitte’s hand to his lips, as he “gazes adoringly” Judi said.
Calling back to the rumoured Vietnam slap, Judi said: “Was this the hand she shoved her husband with back in Vietnam?
“If so, Charles was clearly busy charming it into submission.”
In a similarly familial gesture, Emmanuel went on to pat Charles’ upper arm “in a gesture of macho unity”.
The procession precedes tonight’s state banquet in which 160 guests will dine at Windsor Castle to celebrate the relationship between France and Britain.
Princess Kate and Prince William will both be in attendance for the fabulous event.

Emmerdale’s Robert Sugden made another big move on the ITV soap on Wednesday, a day on from stealing Lewis Barton’s weed and selling it to new villain Ray, with a new accomplice too

Robert Sugden was back up to his old tricks on Emmerdale on Wednesday, as he made another deal with a new accomplice.
Just a day on from being revealed as the person who stole Lewis Barton’s weed stash from the farm, selling it to dealer and new villain Ray, Robert’s next plan was revealed. We’d seen him smugly confess he was ready to bring mayhem, and on Wednesday we learned exactly what he was up to.
He had a heart-to-heart with Moira Dingle, where it seemed he was using the money he’d got from the drug sale to buy some land off of Moira. The land was originally owned by Annie Sugden, Robert’s grandmother, and Robert’s family lived and worked there for a long time before the Barton family moved in.
A few years back Victoria inherited the land after Annie’s death and she sold it to Moira. But on Wednesday Robert claimed he was keen to get his grandmother’s land back into the family, telling Moira he had a proposal for her that would get her some much needed money.

Robert said memories had come flooded back and he was different now, with him eager to buy back the land to start the Sugden legacy up again. Moira seemed keen, desperate for the money.
He said he had an investment policy and after a chat with the bank, he was able to offer a huge sum while it wasn’t the amount she hoped for. Moira told him she accepted as she could see how much it meant to him.
Robert then said: “You have no idea what this means,” before appearing to smirk after claiming it wasn’t about getting a cheap deal, or striking while Moira was desperate. It left Moira feeling positive amid the drug drama, telling Ross and Lewis “she could finally see the light at the end of the tunnel”.
But what she didn’t know was that Robert was plotting, and he wasn’t working alone. As the camera panned over to Home Farm, we saw Kim Tate getting out a bottle of champagne.

She then made it clear she and Robert were in cahoots, teaming up to get the farm using Kim’s money. Robert also made it very clear the legacy comments were all lies, and he had no intention of starting up the farm again.
He revealed to Kim, laughing as he did: “I gave her all this rubbish about how I wanted to live up to the Sugden name, dad’s legacy, but I only had a tiny budget.” Kim asked how much he had offered, but he refused to say.
Kim then said: “You do know I am only willing to pay market rate for that field, before you get any ideas.” He said: “It should still give me a decent profit.”
Kim then revealed they’d been talking for a while clearly plotting, as she said she was “impressed with how he operates”. Robert then warned: “Trust me, We’re only just getting warmed up.” But what exactly do Robert and Kim have planned, and what does this mean for Moira?
Khloé Kardashian is setting the record straight — and giving credit where it’s due — about the plastic surgery and cosmetic work she’s had done after a London-based surgeon rattled off a list of suspected surgeries in honor of the reality star’s 41st birthday.
Dr. Jonathan Betteridge had a rather suspicious mind: He told followers in an Instagram Reel that he believed Kardashian had undergone a brow lift, an upper-eyelid lift, a nose job, a chin implant, a facelift and a neck lift for “overall tightness and definition” and lip filler.
Referring to side-by-side photos of Kardashian from a while back and from the recent Bezos-Sánchez wedding in Venice, Betteridge said she “looks dramatically different from a few years ago, and whether you see it as glow-up or glam makeover, there’s no denying she’s created a bold new look for herself.”
Then he added a disclaimer, saying he had no personal knowledge of what Kardashian had done and was purely speculating, albeit as a professional.
He also asked people to offer their opinions and voila, along came Khloé.
“I take this as a great compliment! first off I think these photos are about 15 years apart, But here’s a list of things that I have done. I’ve been very open in the past about what I have done so here we go,” Kardashian wrote in a comment.
And it turns out the doc’s speculation was mostly wrong.
Here’s what Kardashian copped to: a nose job. “Laser Hair” for the hairline and “everywhere else,” which we assume means laser hair removal. Botox and Sculptra injectables on her right cheek after she had a melanoma tumor removed. Collagen baby threads under her chin and neck. Sofwave laser treatment for skin tightening.
She lost 80 pounds slowly over time, she said, and has had fillers but not in the past few years. (“I hear it never goes away,” she wrote, “so I’m sure it’s still there but calmed down.”)
Also, in addition to “regular facials, peptides, vitamins and daily skin care,” Kardashian said she gets salmon sperm facials.
She added that in 2025 “there are many other things we can do before surgery but when it’s time, and if I choose to, I know some great doctors.”
Kardashian has indeed been open about her cosmetic work over the years, talking about her nose job in 2021 and saying in 2023 that she hadn’t used diabetic medicine to take off what was about 60 pounds at the time. “Let’s not discredit my years of working out,” she wrote in reply to one Ozempic accusation. “I get up 5 days a week at 6am to train. Please stop with your assumptions. I guess new year still means mean people.”
In her list, the reality star credited all her providers as well.
Kardashian’s youngest sister, Kylie Jenner, also recently got candid on social media about her plastic surgery, revealing to a TikTok user the details of her breast augmentation.

Plus, Callum shares a kiss with another man as Ben is still locked away…
Desperate for cash, as Avani’s Sweet 16th is on the horizon, Ravi goes to Nicola to get a drug contact. But things quickly go south when he’s forced to hide in his car from the police.

EastEnders fans will also see Anna back in the Square next week, after it was announced Molly Rainford would be leaving the soap after two years. It’s been a frantic time in the family since Anna’s been away – and she’s been kept in the dark.
As she makes her return, she berates George for keeping her in the dark about the divorce and The Vic sale. She asks George to talk to Elaine about taking things slowly following her heart attack, after both she and Linda fail to get through to her.
Could the new owners of the Vic be in sooner than we think?
Some of the UK’s smallest airports have worse cancellation rates for 2024 than their larger counterparts, according to newly released data
According to AirAdvisor, the average flight cancellation rate across all UK airports fell in 2024(Image: AFP via Getty Images)
The UK’s worst airport for flight cancellations has been revealed and, surprisingly, it’s not Britain’s biggest aviation hub, Heathrow.
New data has revealed which major airports cancelled the most – and fewest – number of flights in 2024. The study was conducted by flight compensation specialists at AirAdvisor by analysing departure data from 20 of the busiest airports by passenger traffic across England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Island over two years.
It showed that across all UK airports, the average flight cancellation rate in 2024 was 1.46 percent – which was actually a slight decrease from 2023 which recorded a 1.78 percent cancellation rate. There’s more good news when it comes to London airports.
Southampton Airport was the worst ranked airport overall(Image: Hampshire Live / Darren Pepe)
The capital’s major airports like Heathrow, Luton, Gatwick, Stansted and London City also experienced a decrease in the rate of cancelled flights between 2023 and 2024. The cancellation rate fell by nearly 15 percent in the year alone.
While there were certainly some standout improvements, one airport distinguished itself as the UK’s worst major airport for cancelled flights. According to the data, Southampton Airport has the highest rate of cancelled flights.
This is the second year in a row that Southampton Airport tops AirAdvisor’s list of the Worst Airports for Flight Cancellations. The airport has a cancellation rate more than twice that of the national average.
According to AirAdvisor: “As a smaller airport with around 853,000 passengers in 2024, Southampton continues to struggle with operational challenges including persistent staffing issues and a limited infrastructure, which can be exacerbated during busy travel periods.”
London City Airport was the worst ranked airport in London, and also ranked third worst overall(Image: Getty Images)
Trailing close behind Southampton Airport as the airport with the worst cancellation rate is Belfast City Airport – with a rate of 3.5 percent. That said, Belfast City’s cancellation actually improved from 2023 by a slight margin.
Speculating on what’s causing the increased cancellations at Belfast City, AirAdvisor says it could be due in part to the airports focus on regional flights. This focus makes it ‘more vulnerable’ to flight disruptions, particularly when flights connect to bigger airports.
London City Airport ranked third worst with a cancellation rate of 3.13 percent and Glasgow Airport ranked fourth worst with a cancellation rate of 2.15 percent. On the other side of the spectrum, three airports distinguished themselves as the most reliable with the fewest cancelled flights.
Bournemouth Airport had the lowest cancellation rate (0.08 percent). Bournemouth claims the title of Most Reliable Airport – at least when it comes to cancelled flights – for the second year in a row. “With a light flight schedule and highly efficient operations, [Bournemouth Airport] offers travellers a more stress-free flight experience,” says AirAdvisor.
Following a few ways behind are East Midlands International Airport and Bristol Airport with 0.39 percent and 0.66 percent cancellation rates respectively.

Many Brits seek summer sun abroad from Turkey to Cape Verde, but holidays often turn into costly disasters with delays, illness, and nightmare accidents
Martin Bullen broke his neck and back after a stranger pushed him into a pool(Image: Kennedy News and Media)
From flight delays and lost luggage to heatstroke, food poisoning, and unexpected injuries, the holiday season often brings more chaos than calm.
Travel insurance providers report spikes in claims during July and August, with accidents abroad, hospital visits, and missed connections among the top complaints.
Here, the Mirror looks at some dream getaways that quickly became nightmares…
Horrific joke gone wrong
A “joke” on a lad’s holiday in Benidorm ended up with a dad breaking his neck after he was shoved into a pool.
Martin’s life has completely changed since the injury(Image: Kennedy News and Media)
The single dad-of-two said he tried to turn his fall into a dive but he didn’t realise how shallow the water was and he split his head open on the bottom of the pool.
Luckily one of the revellers at the party was an army medic who helped get Martin out of the pool and kept him still until an ambulance arrived.
Paramedics took Martin, who works as a sales advisor, to a nearby hospital where doctors gave him 16 stitches in his head and found that he had fractured his neck in three places and broken his back.
He said that the trip to Benidorm had been intended as a relaxing getaway with his cousins to give Martin a break from being a busy single dad.
Martin explained that he had gone to book travel insurance before the holiday, but he had gotten distracted before paying and forgot to purchase it – a mistake he dubbed ‘stupid’.
The tourist ended up forking out £1,500 for the hospital stay and extra flights. He urged holidaymakers travelling this summer not to make the same “daft mistake” as him.
Martin, from Wigan, Greater Manchester, said: “I was having a drink but I had my wits about me and stuff. Somebody pushed me into the pool and I didn’t know it was a shallow pool.
“I’m thinking I’ll just dive in and dive back up and my head hit the floor straight away and it split open my head.
“It was quite scary. I’ll be honest, there was at one point I thought I was going to die on my own [in hospital] because I didn’t know what was going on or who to talk to.
“It was a moment of madness [not to take out insurance]. I was looking at getting it, I put it in the WhatsApp group for my cousins to get it and as I went to do mine something came up with the kids.
“Then it just slipped my mind and then I forgot all about it and didn’t get it done. It was a daft mistake. I knew I needed to get it. Failure to prepare is preparing to fail, that’s the best thing I could say.”
Raw buffet food hell
25 Brits reported issues with the resort, including raw fish at the restaurant(Image: Irwin Mitchell / SWNS)
What was supposed to be a dream getaway quickly spiralled into a holiday from hell for 25 Brits after they allegedly suffered gastric illnesses while staying at the Riu Karamboa, in Boa Vista in Cape Verde.
The group claim there were disturbing scenes around the hotel’s buffet – birds, flies, and even cats wandering freely. The food, they allege, was often “raw and undercooked,” served alongside “dirty crockery and cutlery.”
One NHS worker who splurged £3,000 to celebrate early retirement said she ended up hospitalised with a severe E.coli infection during her holiday.
Sharon Burrow, 56, of Ashton-under-Lyne, Greater Manchester, recalled how the luxury break became “one of the worst experiences of her life,” and eight months on, she still battles ongoing complications.
Another guest, Penny Robson, a 55-year-old paramedic from London, was forced to take antibiotics after battling a brutal bout of gastric symptoms – bloating, diarrhoea, nausea, and stomach cramps. Penny, who paid £2,000 for a weeklong stay with a friend in September 2023, had to cancel two prepaid excursions, including a stargazing trip and a private island tour, after falling ill five days in.
The Riu Karamboa resort told the Mirror: “For RIU Hotels & Resorts, the health and safety of our guests is our highest priority. That is why we adhere to strict Health & Safety protocols and comply with all applicable regulations.
“Additionally, we work closely with local health authorities to ensure a safe environment for both our guests and employees. As part of our proactive approach to preventing health issues, we conduct thorough internal and external audits on a regular basis.
“Our hotels in Cape Verde, which consist of six properties with a total of 4,650 rooms, maintain an average occupancy rate of over 80%. Given this high level of activity, we continuously monitor our operations to uphold the highest health and safety standards.”
‘Never leaving UK again’

The couple finally made it home after a three-day trek but their ordeal has made them vow ‘never again’. “I have never experienced anything like this,” said Alison. “We paid a lot of money for the holiday and it has ended in a nightmare.”
The couple had flown from Thailand to Dubai last April to find the airport in turmoil due to severe storms, with their plane circling above the airport for an hour and a half before it was able to land. They had a few hours to wait until flying to Manchester.
“Finally at 8am, we started to board the plane, the plane was there,” said Alison. “We then sat there for two and a half hours in the holding area waiting to get on the plane. Nobody was answering any questions and people were getting frantic.”
The couple’s frustration peaked when they were informed of their flight had been cancelled. “We were then told our flight was cancelled and we had to leave the airport,” added the emergency control operator. “We went back the following day and joined another queue for seven and a half hours.
“We were waiting to board the plane and it kept saying delayed, delayed, delayed. The screen changed from Manchester to Sydney and they sent us away again.”
After spending money on a hotel stay, the couple faced further uncertainty at the airport the next day when they were offered a flight to Manchester on April 28 – 12 days after they were meant to head back home. “We couldn’t do that. We had to go to work and we had already been out of the country for a month,” Alison said.
“I asked if they could get us to another airport, if I could get near the UK I could work it out. They got us a flight to Istanbul.”
But their ordeal wasn’t over – landing in Istanbul on April 19, Alison and Richard were greeted with the news that their luggage had gone missing, meaning they had to buy clothes there. The couple then made their way from Istanbul to Dalaman, Turkey, on Saturday in hopes of catching a flight to Manchester.
“We’re pleased to be home, but really really upset not to be able to give the grandchildren the gifts and open the cases and do what you normally do when you get home,” Alison said.
Sir Tim Clark, President of Emirates Airline, penned an open letter at the time of the disruption, which said: “The UAE experienced its highest rainfall in 75 years. Storm winds and torrential rain disrupted activities across the cities.
“While our hub in Dubai continued to operate, albeit with reduced flight movements for safety reasons, the flooded roads hampered our customers, pilots, cabin crew, and airport employees from getting to the airport, and also affected the delivery of essential supplies like meals and other flight amenities..
“We know our response has been far from perfect. We acknowledge and understand the frustration of our customers due to the congestion, lack of information, and confusion in terminals. We acknowledge that the long queues and waiting times have been unacceptable.”
Terrifying break-in

On their final evening, amidst hotel notices about an impending power outage, Becca headed to their room to charge mobile phones ahead of their journey back. She recounted the unsettling moment: “As I got in the lift these two teenagers got in the lift with me and just pressed my floor level. I honestly didn’t think anything of it because there’s five rooms per floor, so I just assumed they were going to one of them.”
However, the situation took a turn when the youths exited the lift before her and made a beeline for her room, which was propped open with a shoe. Initially confused, Becca thought she had got off on the wrong floor, but she quickly realised that wasn’t the case.
“It happened all quite quickly and they just strolled straight into my room,” she said. Becca decided to follow them inside and confront them.
“But I just didn’t really think and went straight into the room and shouted ‘What are you doing in my room? Get the f*ck out, get the f*ck out, get the f*ck out’.” Thankfully, the teenagers did.
Yet, the ordeal hadn’t ended—the youth hammered on the door shortly after while Becca remained barricaded inside. “I was absolutely petrified,” she confessed.
“I know it sounds silly and people have said you should have done this, you should have locked them in the room, you should have decked them but at that moment I think it was just that invasion of privacy. This is supposed to be your safe place when you are away, you’re away from home, we don’t travel all that often so we were really shaken.”
Coronation Street fans learnt about Millie’s huge secret during tonight’s episode – as she continues to try and break Todd and her father Theo’s relationship up

It was a night of huge revelations in tonight’s Coronation Street, as it was revealed that Theo’s daughter Millie was hiding a huge secret about her pregnancy.
Millie’s actions come following Theo’s split with her mother, Danielle, after he recently moved on with Todd, as he continued to come to terms with his sexuality.
Due to Theo’s strict religious parents and harrowing upbringing, including conversion therapy, he ended up marrying Danielle and they had two kids together, while Theo continued to hide who he really was.
Danielle and the kids only recently found out the truth, and Millie will go to huge extremes to split the two up.

In the episode, Todd and Millie appeared to have a falling out after Millie told Theo Todd said she should go back to live with her mother. Although Todd did suggest this, he didn’t say it in the way Millie made out.
Theo and Todd have been having a number of arguments lately, and in tonight’s episode Theo was seen getting annoyed at Todd as Billy brought up his conversion therapy.

In a later conversation with Todd, referencing their arguments, Millie said: “You’re making my job so much easier,” as Todd questioned: “Your job? Getting him back round the family table?” Seemingly confirming the fake dating profile was also part of her plan.
“Too right, just keep pushing him away Todd, you’re acing it,” Millie responded.
Later on in the episode, Millie was seen speaking to her brother Miles on the phone, while shopping for fake baby bumps. “I’m not a sicko, just desperate to get our family back together,” she said.
Although she’s fooling Todd and Theo, she’s not fooling fans, as one fan penned on X, formerly known as Twitter: The Millie twist in tonight’s #Corrie – I think we all saw that coming,” as a second wrote: “I KNEW Millie was LYING about being pregnant #Corrie.”
A third agreed: “I knew she was faking it – I haven’t liked Millie from the start. Very selfish and incredibly fake. She doesn’t seem to care about Theo’s Self Harm either. #Corrie.”
BRITS jetting off to Europe for their summer holidays could risk losing cash if they pick the wrong time to buy the currency.
When heading abroad, it is not uncommon for many holiday-goers to exchange cash into the currency of the country they are travelling to.

But when you convert cash from one currency to another, you could end up getting more money in exchange or in some instances less.
Factors such as inflation and the economic stability of a country can impact how much a currency is worth.
Currently, the Great British Pound (GBP) is worth more than the Euro, a popular holiday destination for many Brits.
So for example, if you had £100 and exchanged it you would get €116 in return.
While UK holiday goers currently get more money back when they swap their cash for Euros, returns have been better in previous years.
Back in 2024, £1 was worth €1.18.
Tony Redondo, founder of Cosomos Currency Exchange told The Sun that factors such as “soft UK economic data” and “rising geo-political tensions” is pushing the Pound to Euro exchange rate lower.
This can lower the value of the Pound as investors seek to get higher returns elsewhere.
With this in mind, Tony said that holiday goers heading to Europe before the end of the month, should buy Euros “soon”.
Understanding GDP and Its Impact on the Economy
He said: “It might be best to buy soon to protect from any further possible downside.”
But the money expert said that those not travelling until the end of school holidays have no need to panic.
He said: “A calculated gamble would be to wait it out as the world moves at such a pace nowadays, that hopefully, the Pound has time to recover.
“After all, in 17 out of the last 20 years, the Pound has gone up in value against the Euro in either July or August. “
It is worth noting that exchange rates can go up and down, so it is worth checking online currency converters to see how much you can get.
MORE HOLIDAY MONEY HACKS
When heading abroad there are a few hacksto ensure you don’t end up losing money.
Customers should avoid exchanging money at the airport as they tend to have higher fees due as they cater to a captive market.
Kara Gammell, personal finance expert at MoneySuperMarket, said: “If you have a holiday booked and want to make the most of current rates.
“Don’t wait to buy your travel money at the airport as you will pay a premium – and never pay for your currency with a credit card as paying on plastic means you’ll be charged a ‘cash advance fee’.
This fee is charged on ATM withdrawals but also on transactions such as online gambling and buying foreign currency.
You should also be aware that banks tend to charge customers a fee for using their debit or credit card abroad.
For example, NatWestcharges customers a 2.75% fee for spending your debit card abroad.
That would add a £1.16 charge to the cost of a jacket which cost £42.16.
But some banks don’t charge you for spending abroad.
For example, Monzo does not charge its customers foreign transaction fees nor does First Direct.
Are there other options to for spending abroad?
There are several specialist cards that can give you a great exchange rate.
These cards include travel credit cards and pre-paid cards which can let you pay abroad without fees or at a set exchange rate.
Senior Consumer Reporter Olivia Marshall explains all the options.
Travel credit cards: Travel credit cards allow you to spend money abroad without being hit by any fees or hidden charges.
But, they may still charge you for taking cash out.
We recommend the Halifax’s Clarity Card as it won’t charge you for using it abroad, nor are there any fees for withdrawing cash.
But you will be charged interest if you don’t repay your balance in full at a rate of 19.9 per cent.
And you will be charged interest on cash withdrawals until your balance is paid off too, at a rate of between 19.9 and 27.95 per cent depending on your credit score.
In other words, just because you are using plastic abroad doesn’t mean you don’t have to pay these credit cards off like you normally would.
Always pay off your balance before the end of the month with these cards to make sure that any money you saved isn’t wiped away by paying interest.

The UK’s ‘best hidden beach’ offers up some ridiculously beautiful views, a large stretch of shore, and almost no crowds.
Abermawr Bay in Pembrokeshire, Wales has recently been named the UK’s best ‘secret bay’, boasting a remote location that means visitors have to put in effort to visit; but those who have enjoyed a staycation in the area say it’s well worth it.
The pebbled beach looks like something out of a storybook with its cliff-backed coastline, pebbled shore and azure waters. One visitor on Tripadvisor wrote that it was “just stunning”, adding they “could have stayed for hours and taken a billion photos”.
But it’s not just the pretty surroundings that make this a must-visit. Abermawr boasts an ancient forest buried among golden sands, that’s revealed twice a day at low tide. Visit Pembrokeshire explains: “Low tide exposes the golden sand and buried tree stumps – the remains of a forest drowned by a sudden flood as an ice sheet melted 8000 years ago. The stumps have been perfectly preserved by salt. Behind the beach are an interesting ruined cottage, a wildlife-rich marshy area and bluebell woods climbing the hill at the southern end.”

It’s therefore no surprise that the beach continues to be a hit with intrepid explorers. “Lovely exclusive beach, out of the way and the water is a beautiful blue green, so refreshing, pebbles, went with my dogs they loved it too, small but beautiful,” wrote one happy holidaymaker. “It’ll stay with me forever,” added another impressed explorer.
However be warned; visitors have also flagged that there’s a small car park near the beach, the only one available nearby. It means that if the car park is full up, you could end up taking a detour and then still need to commit to a fairly big walk to get to the beach. As it’s so remote and hidden, it’s unlikely to get crowded, even during busier months, but if you don’t want to risk it, you can always visit off season or earlier in the morning.
If it wasn’t already established as a hidden gem, Abermawr Bay recently topped new rankings from footwear brand FitFlop that analysed Google search data to uncover some of the UK’s best underrated beaches.
The team behind the research explained: “With a 4.5 Tripadvisor rating and positioned on the wild and unspoiled north-west coast of Pembrokeshire, Abermawr Bay is a true gem for beach walkers seeking peace, beauty, and connection with nature. This secluded shingle beach is framed by rugged cliffs and backed by a whispering woodland of wind-sculpted trees to offer an atmospheric experience that feels miles away from the modern world. Stroll along the shore and listen to the rhythmic sound of waves rolling over the pebbles or follow the coastal path above the bay to admire the panoramic views over St. George’s Channel, which offers opportunities for birdwatching and spotting marine life.
“Aber Mawr is especially magical in the early morning or golden evening light, when the landscape glows and the only footprints in the sand are your own. It’s dog-friendly, rarely crowded, and perfect for those who value solitude, scenic beauty, and a refreshing sea breeze. If you park at the woollen mill you can also enjoy some delicious cake and browse the blanket shop after your walk.”

There’s more chaos on the way on EastEnders next week, with more than one character taking centre stage.
In the fallout to big scenes this week on the BBC soap, there’s chaos ahead with danger and trouble for some residents. Kat Slater is worrying about how things are with her husband Alfie Moon and she soon confides in someone about their lack of communication.
Alfie isn’t the only one causing concern for Kat, as she soon makes an alarming discovery about her ex Phil Mitchell. Phil’s worried about Nigel deteriorating amid his dementia diagnosis, and some of his actions next week leave Phil struggling.
Phil ends up being injured when he and Nigel grapple over a pan of boiling water. Phil tells Kat he’s exhausted and in over his head, so she suggests he gets some extra support to care for Nigel.
An incident with Lexi later leaves Phil troubled, and Kat once again tells him he needs help for Nigel. Denise Fox also offers guidance to Phil, telling him he needs to look after himself.

Elsewhere next week, Elaine Peacock is also sparking concern as she struggles after her split from George Knight. Linda Carter is left overwhelmed as her mother constantly leaves her to hold the fort at the pub.
George steps in to help her, and soon Elaine slams him which destroys any hope of a truce. Things take a bitter turn when George warns Elaine that his new solicitor says he’s got a claim on The Vic.
Things only get worse when Linda and Elaine clash, and it turns out Elaine has given alcohol to the teens leaving children in hospital. The alcohol is consumed by some of the kids who are at the house where a party is taking place, leading to a hospital dash.
Speaking of, Denzel throws a party next week and with Tommy invited, Joel tries to get a way in. He attempts to chat up Amy too only for it to be thwarted as his next target is revealed, after his recent drama with Avani.
With the children upstairs watching a move, Denzel welcomes his friends round and soon he allows Joel in, as they head off to get some booze from the pub. Disaster strikes though when they steal the jug of punch and Raymond and the twins end up drinking it.
Bernadette Taylor’s exit storyline may have been teased too, as she’s asked by cousin Felix Baker for her seal of approval over his new romance with Johnny Carter. But with her reluctant to after him covering up the murder of her brother Keanu, something Felix knows nothing about, will it come back to haunt all those involved?

Theres a strange discovery though when some weird invoices are spotted linked to the Panesar account, which Bernie has access to. She dismissed the concerns, but soon she’s questioned once more.
As Ravi and Suki go to confront Bernie about the irregularities, will they make a discovery and is this linked to Bernie’s looming exit? Finally next week, Nicola Mitchell is enraged when her son Barney’s biological father Zack Hudson gets between them again.
With Barney failing an exam due to stress, Nicola tries to cheer him up and bring the family back together. When Harry invites Zack though, there’s soon drama as Nicola and husband Teddy clash and she trashes the room.
As her party gets underway, Nicola chucks out Zack and Barney storms off. Teddy offers to support his son though if he wants to get to know Zack. But what will he decide? Amid the drama, Nicola and George get closer but will it lead to more
