A BOSS has been branded as being “beyond diabolical” over the text messages they sent to an employee regarding her maternity leave.

Ben Askins, a UK career expert, regularly shares videos calling out questionable workplace behaviour to his social media sites.

In a recent post, Ben highlighted an “ugly” response to a pregnant woman’s “reasonable” request for maternity leave where he branded her employer as being in “the top three of the worst bosses I’ve come across”.

Ben shared the text exchange to his TikTok account which has since notched up nearly 590,000 views.

The text message exchange begins with the pregnant employee confirming that her manager had received her “email about maternity leave requests for February”.

The boss then replied: “I saw it, and I wanted to talk to you about it.

“Is there any way you’d consider reducing how long you want to take?

“If you are sure you are going to go ahead with it, would you be open to discussing it all. I am just a bit worried about the costs from our side.”

Clearly taken aback by her manager’s reaction, the female employee tried to justify her reason for taking her legally-entitled maternity leave.

To help ease the situation, she offered to be as helpful as possible to the person who would temporarily filling her position.

She wrote in reply: “Oh ok, um I was kind of hoping to take as much time as possible.

“This is my first child and wanted to get as used to being as parent as possible, especially as my family lives quite far away.”

She added: “I will ensure all my responsibilities are handed over seamlessly and help interview for mat cover but I really do want to take the full amount.”

The boss though continued to badger his employee over the “burden” she was allegedly creating by going on maternity leave.

He wrote: “The challenge is that this is a small company, and it’s quite a burden to have to pay both your mat leave and your mat cover.

“I am just not sure how we can cope.”

The woman though continued to advocate for her rights and even offered to assist her employer while she was off on leave.

She said: “I appreciate that but this isn’t fair to put on me, I am happy to support but I am well within my rights to do this.

“I will try and support however I can, make sure everything is in place for a smooth handover and can also be on call for emergencies if that helps?”

The concerned employee then ended the message by saying: “Is my pregnancy going to be a problem for my role in the company?”

The boss then responded: “Not at all! Your pregnancy is absolutely fine by me, we are a family company.”

However, they then continued: “[J]ust not ideal timing for me that is all. But if you are not going to help out and reduce the time then nothing really further for us to talk about I guess.”

As Ben read out the series of text message in the video, he couldn’t help interject with his own comments about the situation, calling the manager out for their “disgusting” behaviour.

Ben also claimed the boss in this case was “fully aware of what he’s doing”.

He said: “He’s trying to use guilt to basically get her to kind of waive her rights [to take the full length of maternity leave]… because you can then sort of go, ‘Oh no, she agreed with it.”

Ben also added the woman’s request was perfectly “reasonable” and noted she had gone above and beyond by offering additional assistance in regard to the recruitment and handover to her replacement.

The expert also added that it was not the woman’s “problem” the business may struggle financially due to her leave entitlement and it was her right to take maternity leave.

Ben said: “That is not her f**king problem, that is your problem.

“If she’s not an equity holder, she’s not a director in the business, it’s not her company, that is a YOUR problem.”

The clip has gained a lot of attention, along with nearly 1,000 comments, many outraged by the behaviour of the boss.

One person wrote: “This is the kind of boss that makes you start looking for another job while you’re on leave.”

Another added: “She should not even have to justify anything.”

A third said: “The gaslighting and guilt is beyond diabolical.”

Others took issue with the manipulative language used by the boss in the text exchange.

One commenter said: “’Not ideal timing for me.’ Yea, I mean sheesh, couldn’t think of your boss while conceiving your baby?”

Another asked: “Did they just suggest she get an abortion for the sake of the company’s bottom line?!?”

While a third posted: “’If you’re not going to help out’ is an insane thing to say especially after she already stated she’s more than happy to arrange cover and everything else before she leaves.”

From the video, it is unclear what jurisdiction the worker was in, but many commentators noted that maternity leave was a legal employment right in a number of countries, including Australia, and the employee may have grounds to take legal action.

One commentator wrote: “Wow… save this, go to an employer lawyer. Get settlement, enjoy!”

Another opined: “This is a slam dunk mat discrimination case. Employers need to understand that claim awards are potentially unlimited.”

Other commentators used the opportunity to relate their own horror stories about requesting maternity leave.

One person wrote: “I had a line manager refuse to discuss it with me because ‘your baby could still die right up until the end’.”

Another commentator added: “My old manager tried to convince me to have an abortion… they wondered why I didn’t want to go back after having my baby.”

While a third said: “My old boss tried to tell me I only got half maternity time with my second child cos I’d already done the full maternity bonding time with my first.”

While most comments expressed outrage by the response of the boss, there were some commentators who said they understood where the employer was coming from.

One reply said: “Whilst he’s being improper, you can’t avoid the fact that small companies will avoid employing women of childbearing age to reduce costs.”

Another commentator said: “For small businesses, maternity leave – even if protected by law – can have a massive impact on the company, especially if it’s not performing well financially.”

Someone else posted: “[S]o many companies like this don’t like hiring young women because the potential for taking maternity leave is high.”

One comment from a disheartened female worker gained more than 1,600 likes which said: “We’re judged by society if we don’t want kids and then punished by work when we do.

“We’re judged for working 9-5 and having a career with kids but then also judged if we stay home full time with kids. Women can’t win.”

Under the Fair Work Act, all employees in Australia are able to get up to 12 months unpaid parental leave, if they have completed at least 12 months of continuous service with their employer.

The Paid Parental Leave scheme is run by Services Australia which provides financial support to eligible working parents to take time off work so they can care for a newborn or recently adopted child.

Some employees are able to receive parental leave payments from the Australian Government Parental Leave Pay, while others will get employer funded parental leave payments.

In some cases, it is possible a person can receive both.

Taking to TikTok, Cara, a mum-of-five, made her own delicious cake for her son’s birthday using M&S and Amazon buys.

In the clip, she said: “Come DIY my son’s Minecraft birthday cake using two cakes from M&S.

“I feel absolutely awful but I left it way too last minute to order Noah a birthday cake, then I couldn’t get one booked in anywhere so thought I’d go to M&S and do it myself.”

She said her son was a big chocolate lover so grabbed the M&S chocolate Mini Bite Cake for £20 and the Cookies and Cream cake.

She used the cookie flavour cake as the bottom tier and removed the chocolate decorations and moved them to the chocolate cake that would suit on top.

To make sure the two cakes were secure, she stuck a few cocktail sticks into the bottom one before placing the other on top.

Next, the savvy mum had some Amazon bits to complete the cake and turn it into a Minecraft bonanza that Noah would love.

She was able to find a Minecraft logo and happy birthday sign made out of edible rice paper, so cut them out and placed them on top of the cake.

Cara also found some Minecraft figurines made of icing and stuck those on top as well.

“These are amazing,” she said, “And I just popped them all over the cake.

“Noah is Minecraft obsessed and Steve is his absolute favourite character, so I know he’s gonna absolutely love this.

The final cake was perfect for her son and the rest of her family to enjoy while celebrating his birthday.

Cara added: “I mean it’s not the best cake in the world but I know he’s gonna absolutely love it and it was literally on a budget.”

The clip of her DIY cake was shared on her TikTok account @cara_mamato5 and soon went viral with over 170k views and 2,800 likes.

The cost of a professional birthday cake can vary massively depending on how big you want it and what decor you want.

A basic sponge or character cake from the supermarket can cost between £10 to £20.

A small personalised custom cake from a bakery or cake maker can set you back up to £60.

While medium cakes, with multiple tiers like what Cara made can be an eye-watering £100.

Heralding the rebirth of the Britpop-era movement, the magazine pictures Molly Moorish-Gallagher and musician Sonny Ashcroft proudly standing in front of a giant Union Jack. 

Anyone over the age of 40 is likely to spot the obvious homage being paid to a similar front cover published by Vanity Fair in 1997. 

That iconic picture saw Oasis singer Liam sharing a bed with his then girlfriend, actress Patsy Kensit. 

The couple married a few months later when Oasis were arguably the biggest music stars of the decade. 

And it is no coincidence the new magazine cover comes just days before the Oasis reunion tour, which will have Richard Ashcroft as the support act. 

But Tatler did not go for another “power couple”, like Liam and Patsy were, and instead took the nepo baby route.

Love Island host Maya Jama recently recreated Liz Hurley’s famous Versace safety pin dress that she wore to the Four Weddings And A Funeral premiere in 1994. 

Singers Dua Lipa and Lola Young have been inspired by other huge names of the Nineties in their fashion choices. 

And Liam’s son Lennon was pretty much an identikit copy of his dad when he attended a Burberry pub takeover last week. 

A new study has also revealed that youngsters are now huge fans of some of the decade’s greatest hairstyles, including The Rachel from Friends, the floppy hair of actor Johnny Depp and Victoria Beckham’s Posh bob.

The study, commissioned by Funkin Cocktails, also found a fondness for Doc Marten boots and baggy jeans, famously sported by the likes of Mark Wahlberg when he was rapper Marky Mark.

“There are clearly many iconic hairstyles and memorable moments from this decade that live on in the public consciousness.

Gen Z can’t match our hellraising era 

IT was a sensational whirl of bucket hats, Union Jacks, lads’ mags, boozy bands and more than a whiff of the old marching powder, writes Rod McPhee.

The late Nineties were a hellraising golden age not seen since the Swinging Sixties. 

But despite being due another period of partying, I’m sorry to say we’ll never quite be able to match the magic of the original Cool Britannia. 

Trust me, I was there, I did it. I got the T-shirt – and the dodgy Liam Gallagher shaggy haircut

What’s more, I loved it all. From music to fashion, and movies to models, the run-up to the year 2000 was the perfect blend of sex and, yes, drugs, plus lashings of rock ’n’ roll. 

Of course, it’s great to get a taste of the good old days when Oasis stage their comeback tour next week, plus there’s the prospect of the Spice Girls doing a similar celebratory event next year. 

But nothing can once again live up to a period in modern pop culture history which I believe was genuinely unique. Maybe I’m looking back at the past through rose-tinted glasses. 

But no pop groups, artists, catwalk stars or actors these days come close to the tearaway Primrose Hill crowd that kept us entertained and shocked three decades ago. 

That said, no one would love reliving some of the brilliance of the Nineties more than me. 

So let’s make the most of summer 2025.

REALITY TV star Lateysha Grace rushed her sick six-month-old baby to hospital after she started struggling to breathe.

The 32-year-old’s daughter “took a turn for the worse” before she was diagnosed with bronchitis and croup.

Posting a snap from hospital, the terrified mum of Navy Storm Grace told fans: “Sorry I’ve been so MIA guys.

“Navy took a turn for the worse on Friday night and we ended up in hospital until Saturday.

“It was so scary. She got diagnosed with bronchitis and croup bless her.

“I’m going to add a video in of her breathing to warn other parents to go straight to A&E if their child has similar symptoms.

“She’s on the mend now. Her breathing is so much better.

“She’s drinking her milk and her temperature has gone.”

Lateysh added: “Apparently she had it for a couple of days prior and day four or five is the worst, which were the days we were in hospital.

“So even if your baby has the tiniest of coughs/colds get it checked out.

“I honestly thought it was nothing at first as she had no temperature and was eating, drink and sleeping normally.”

Croup is a common condition that mainly affects babies’ and young children’s airways.

Symptoms usually include a barking cough and high pitched, rasping sound when breathing in.

EXPERTS have issued an urgent warning over popular slushy drinks that could leave children unconscious.

Parents giving the icy shakes to kids as a cooling summer treat were told they may contain high amounts of a sweet syrup that’s dangerous to young children.

Brightly coloured slushies are a mainstay at cinemas, corner shops and theme parks – especially as temperatures ramp up.

But the sweet icy drinks often contain glycerol, a sugar substitute that gives slushies their signature, semi-frozen texture.

The Food Standards Agency (FSA) has now updated its guidance to state that slush ice drinks containing glycerol are not suitable for children under seven.

It follows several incidents involving slushy drinks in recent months.

A two-year-old girl was left listless and grey and “20 minutes from death” after having a slushy drink at a neighbour’s birthday party, according to her gran.

And two young boys became violently ill after slurping on slushies as a half term treat.

Earlier this year, the brightly-coloured drinks — which are designed to appeal to children — were linked to the hospitalisation of 21 children aged two to seven.

Members of the food watchdog’s board called for the change after reviewing evidence on the risk of glycerol to young children’s health.

UK guidance previously stated that that slush ice drinks with glycerol are not recommended for children under four due to the risk of glycerol intoxication, and that those under 11 should have no more than one.

Now, the FSA warned parents not to give the drinks to children under seven.

FSA chair Professor Susan Jebb: “In the warm weather, children may be more likely to consume slush ice drinks containing glycerol, so it’s important that parents and carers are aware of the risks.

“As a precaution, the FSA is recommending that children under seven do not consume slush ice drinks containing glycerol.”

Slush ice drinks can contain glycerol –  also called E422 or glycerine on some labels – as a substitute for sugar to prevent them from freezing solid.

The sugar substitute is also found in some other foods, but at much lower quantities than in slush ice drinks. 

Consumed at high levels, glycerol can cause very low blood sugar levels and unconsciousness in young children – also known as glycerol intoxication syndrome.

Dr Duane Mellor, registered dietitian and senior lecturer at Aston Medical School in Birmingham, previously told Sun Health why children – who are smaller than adults – are more at risk of drinking dangerous amounts.

“If too much glycerol is consumed too quickly and in too large a volume, it can potentially change the blood concentration,” Dr Mellor said.

“This can then affect the amount of fluid around the brain, leading to symptoms including confusion, dizziness, nausea and even, on occasion, loss of consciousness.”

Pharmacist Abbas Kanani, from Chemist Click, told Sun Health: “Glycerol may cause side effects such as nausea, gastrointestinal discomfort, dizziness, and headaches.

“In the case of slush-ice drinks, the dangers are typically associated with very high levels of exposure and may lead to glycerol intoxication, which could cause hypoglycaemia, shock and loss of consciousness.

“The Food Standards Agency state that there are concerns about its acute effects on young children when consumed in large amounts over a short period, leaving them vulnerable to the symptoms listed above.

“Whilst symptoms are usually mild, young children may suffer from headaches and sickness caused by exposure to glycerol.”

According to the FSA, just one 350ml drink with the highest levels of glycerol could potentially cause a problem for a four-year-old.

In youngsters aged five to ten, one and a half of these drinks can have dangerous effects, if consumed quickly.

‘Protect children’

FSA board members previously conducted a risk assessment of slushy ice drinks in 2023, “which was based on average body weight” estimates for children.

This time, the food watchdog took a more cautious approach, taking into account that some children might have a lower than average body weight for their age.

“The assessment incorporated information from recent glycerol intoxication incidents and assessed the impact of one serving of slush ice drink (350ml with 50,000mg/L glycerol) on children with a lower-than-average body weight for their age,” the FSA wrote.

“As children’s weights vary, body weight has been converted to age to provide more practical advice for parents and businesses.”

The updated advice applies to ready-to-drink slush ice drinks with glycerol in pouches and home kits containing glycerol slush concentrates.

The FSA advised businesses selling slushies to add the minimum amount of glycerol needed to achieve the desired texture.

It also called on businesses to share how much glycerol was being added to drinks and foods.

Prof Jebb said: “We expect industry to share data on the quantity of glycerol in their products to inform our future work.

“Meanwhile, there are immediate actions they can take that can help protect children and reduce the risk from these products.

“For example, retailers should limit cup sizes and should not offer free refill promotions to children under 10.”

Arla Agnew, two, was left falling in and out of consciousness after enjoying the popular frozen treat at a neighbour’s birthday party.

Arla’s gran, Stacey, 39, told The Scottish Sun that they youngster became “limp and lifeless” in the hours after consuming the drink and was rushed to hospital, where it was found her blood sugar levels were dangerously low.

“The doctor said to us if we had been another 20 minutes it could have been so different. We were absolutely devastated,” the gran added.

Meanwhile, mum Roxy Wallis, 36, said her two sons fell violently ill minutes after drinking slushies.

“My middle child felt sick, dizzy, and incredibly pale. By the time we reached the ticket machine, he had vomited everywhere.

“At this point, my oldest son looked pale and felt sick but wasn’t as bad – he was a bit bigger than his brother.”

Abbas shared advice for parents in the event that their child suffers a reaction after drinking a slushy.

“If you suspect intoxication from a slushie drink and your child is experiencing any symptoms, even if they are mild, seek immediate medical attention.

“This is important so that your child can be assessed and any serious reactions can be ruled out.”

Nell made her first movie appearance as a toddler, as a Baby at Dock in the movie “Alice in Wonderland”, directed by her father Tim.

Her mother, Helena, played the Red Queen, starring opposite Johnny Depp as a Mad Hatter and Mia Wasikowska as Alice.

Nell was then seen as a Little Girl at the Train Station in the 2012 fantasy comedy “Dark Shadows”.

She also made an appearance as Girl at Park in the biographical drama “Big Eyes”, about the life of the painter Margaret Keane.

And she appeared as Unnamed classmate in Beetlejuice Beetlejuice.

Tim and Helena met for the first time when he cast her to play in his 2001 movie “Planet of the Apes”, during which the two began their relationship.

Sweeney Todd actress Helena, 59, and Tim, 66, went on to have an unconventional marriage.

The couple famously lived together in adjoining houses in Belsize Park, North London, before knocking them together.

They had two children Billy, 22, and Nell, 17, but split in 2014.

They remained friends after the split with Helena branding the director “very generous”.

She said at the time: “You go through massive grief — it is a death of a relationship, so it’s utterly bewildering.

“Your identity, everything, changes.

“Luckily I’ve kept both houses. He was very generous.”

Helena is now with writer and academic Rye Dag Holmboe, who at 37 is 22 years her junior.

MAYCI Neeley is a household name since appearing on the hit reality TV show The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives, but now, she has revealed the heartbreaking story of her first love.

While her life may seem picture perfect with a doting husband, two kids, and another on the way, she has now shared her tragic past.

She’s often seen on Instagram posing with her husband, Jacob Neeley, but he isn’t the biological father of the nine-year-old son, though.

Before her marriage, Mayci was in a relationship with Arik Mack. Then her life changed forever.

In 2015, Mayci, who was just 19, was at university on a tennis scholarship when she found out she was pregnant.

Mayci described Arik as a bit of a wild guy” who was “so full of life.”

So she had concerns about him settling down with the arrival of their baby.

But he assured Mayci he was ready to be a dad and marry her.

While Mayci says she didn’t want to give up her tennis career, she decided to leave university and move back to her families home for support.

Arik decided to stay at the university, which was in a different city in Utah.

“Being away from Arik was harder than I thought. My hormones were all over the place,” she told The Mirror.

“On 24 March 2015, Arik and I had a fight. The pressure on us had become too much and we started to argue over text.”

“Little did I know that Arik was driving while texting me. Frustrated, I stopped replying to his messages.”

Mayci didn’t think much of it when he stopped replying, that was until she checked social media later that day.

Tragic Realisation

While scrolling through Instagram, she noticed a series of tribute posts to her boyfriend.

She saw a post that read: “I’ll miss you, Arik”, which had a photo of him.

The next post said, “RIP.”

Shocked by what she was seeing, she called his father, who confirmed Arik had tragically passed away due to texting and driving and had been killed on impact.

Reflecting on that time of heartbreak, the reality TV star said: “I was 13 weeks and 5 days pregnant. Me and him got into a disagreement.

I remember calling him and hoping he would answer.

“Mainly me, I was upset with him, and we were sending texts back and forth and one of his texts was unfinished at the end of it.

“I remember calling him and hoping he would answer. And the worst part of it was just hearing the dial tone and being like, ‘Please God, answer the phone.’ And I called his dad and his dad told me that he passed away in a car accident… It was the most traumatic time of my life.”

“I was utterly destroyed. I had no idea that he was driving – I never would have replied to him if I knew,” she continued.

“Arik was my best friend and suddenly, he was gone.”

“My baby would never be held by their father. It was too much to bear.”

Tragically, Mayci found out the day after he boyfriend died that she was having a baby boy.

The pregnant teen sank into a deep depression as she tried to cope with the grief while carrying their only child, Hudson.

The loss of the life she had imagined with Arik was too much for Mayci, who also revealed she received negative comments from those around her.

“You’re young, you have plenty of time to find a father for your son,” said one, while another quipped: “At least you’ll never have to co-parent.”

In September 20115, Mayci gave birth to their son and says he saved her life.

Speaking on the show, Mayci said: “I truly feel like he was my first love, and it just destroyed me.

“I didn’t want to live, to be honest, and if it wasn’t for my son, I don’t even know if I’d be here today.”

Finding Love Again

Mayci decided to make the brave decision to go back to university while navigating being a single mum.

When Hudson was seven months old, Jacob Neeley came into her life after meeting through mutual friends.

“I was terrified of getting hurt again but after four months, I couldn’t deny my feelings any longer. He was kind and funny and made me feel safe,” she wrote for The Mirror.

The pair began dating and were engaged in November 2017 before getting married in 2018.

Jacob has since gone on to adopt Hudson, and he and Mayci had a daughter through IVF called Harlow.

Now Mayci is pregnant again and announced the news on social media.

“Baby #3 is on the way and we couldn’t be happier!” she wrote in an Instagram post.

Over recent years, numerous companies have found success in convincing parents that feeding a baby with a quick and convenient processed pouch is easier and also nutritious.

However, there have been growing concerns over whether they are nutritionally sufficient and if they hinder a varied diet.

On her @thenosugarcoatnanny account, Emily, who is trained as a prestigious Norland nanny, held up two items from Aldi’s Organia Mamia range, which are designed for children.

Speaking of their “super cheap” 65p apples, parsnips and carrots pouch (intended for ages four months and above) and their 95p chicken and vegetable cous cous (designed for 12 months and older), she said: “These are products that I do not recommend to parents.”

PANORAMA INVESTIGATION

Emily cited an investigation by BBC Panorama, which found that six leading UK brands did not meet their key nutritional needs for baby food pouches.

The NHS website has published advice on commercial baby food, and said parents should not rely on shop-bought pouches as everyday meals.

Some popular baby food pouches are labelled as being “perfectly balanced for growing babies” or “packed with goodness”.

Emily added: “Lots of you know about the Panorama documentary that came out about pouches and food. 

“I think if you haven’t watched it as a parent, definitely go and watch it.”

The study followed the World Health Organisation stating that it is “critical” that infants and toddlers get good nutrition in the first three years of life.

Babies need food that is “pure, varied, minimally seasoned and nutrient-dense.“

Despite this, by the age of two to five, the average UK toddler has been found to get 61 per cent of their energy from ultra-processed foods, according to a 2022 study.

IRON LEVELS

Emily’s next gripe was with the iron levels in baby meals, and claimed that “a baby needs 7.8 mg a day.”

In the Panorama documentary, Ella’s Kitchen spag bol had just 0.7mg of iron, while Aldi’s Bangers and Mash contained 0.5mg of iron and a Lidl meal had about 0.4mg.

Emily claimed: “Aldi’s products were tested, and their iron levels in them were around 0.5 mg. 

“So, if you give your child, let’s say, this for breakfast, this for lunch, and a similar one for dinner, your child’s, getting 1.5 milligrams of iron a day? 

“That’s so incredibly low. 

“And obviously, children need iron to grow their blood cells.

“It’s obviously to help with their oxygen and the flow around their body.

“So, that’s something to really, really consider when thinking of these.”

Emily shared how she wasn’t advising parents to avoid them completely, and said they are “absolutely fine” for days out if you’ve not made anything or forgotten a snack.

She explained: “But what I don’t want parents to be doing is stocking their cupboards full of these sorts of things, and then that’s your go-to.”

A spokesperson for Aldi said: “Our range of products can help parents and carers to support a child’s weaning journey by introducing a wide variety of food and flavours as part of a varied diet.

“Any sugar in them is naturally occurring and would be the same in a fruit puree made at home.”

NHS GUIDANCE

The NHS Start For Life website states that parents should wait until their baby is around six months old before feeding them solid foods, even if labels on pouches say the products are suitable from four months.

Experts say the products should only be used sparingly, and not as replacements for homemade meals.

They also advised they can cause children health problems if used as their main source of nutrition.

The six brands involved in the investigation were Ella’s Kitchen, Heinz, Piccolo, Little Freddie, Aldi and Lidl, who all said their products were intended to be used as a complementary part of a child’s varied weaning diet.

IF awards were given out for most toxic break-up in Hollywood, Alice Evans and Ioan Gruffudd would sweep the board.

Such was her desperation, she repurposed her GoFundMe page – originally set up in 2022 to help pay for her divorce  – to seek funds for a new home, and she’s now just over $6,500 (£5,000) from reaching her target of $25,000 (£18,000).

Thanking donors this week, some of whom shelled out $2,500 anonymously, she wrote: “Just wanted to tell everybody that me and the girls and Emma are safe with a roof over our heads!

“It’s been a whirlwind, but we made it through the last three days and managed to save all our belongings too! 

“We could never, ever have done this without the incredible love and kindness from all of you. Honestly, I was at my wits’ end and you saved me.

Ioan agreed to pay Alice $3,000 (£2,200) per month in child support and $1,500 (£1,100) a month in spousal support in September last year. 

However, Alice has claimed the $4,500 (£3,300) fee was not sufficient to live in LA, and that money raised from the sale of their old marital home has slowly dwindled away, citing legal fees.

In March, the Vampire Diaries star slammed Ioan in a court filing for saying he “does not really believe” she was facing eviction and that she secretly had the money to pay for it, saying it was an effort “to make him look bad.”

Last month, the rift took another dark twist when Ioan claimed he saw Alice try to give their children cocaine after leaving the door of their family home unlocked so a drug dealer could enter.

The bombshell revelation came in the Welshman’s latest court bid to extend the aforementioned restraining order against him and his new wife, Bianca.

Alice and Ioan married seven years after co-starring in the Disney sequel, tying the knot in Mexico in 2007 during an intimate service attended by close friends and family who had “travelled from all over the world for it”.

Previously, Ioan requested a restraining order against Alice in February 2022 after accusing her of harassment, making up “false stories about him”, and sending his mother “threatening emails.”

The actor’s daughter, Ella, then filed a domestic violence restraining order against him in June 2023 following an incident at his Los Angeles home, which was later rejected.

Two months later, Ioan accused Alice of keeping their children from him and had not seen them in three months, which his ex-wife denied.

She said he was to blame, claiming the actor had not bothered making contact with their daughters for 11 weeks.

Over the last two years, Alice’s complaints have centred around her financial struggles in the wake of their split.

She has said she’s relying on “food stamps”, while Ioan continues his “lavish lifestyle”, buying Rolex watches for his new partner, and is now reportedly considering working at Starbucks.

A TEACHER’S secret OnlyFans account was exposed by kids “excitedly” sharing the X-rated snaps around school.

Kirsty Buchan, also known as Jessica Jackrabbit x, was a staff member at Bannerman High School, in Glasgow, when she joined the adult platform.

A disciplinary hearing was told the mum-of-one’s profile was discovered by pupils in 2022 and reported to headteacher Seonaidh Black.

Pictures of Ms Buchan, 34, “posing in lingerie” were handed over by shocked students.

In her bio she admitted to being a “good teacher gone bad… really bad”.

The profile was also easily accessible, requiring no payment or sign up.

Ms Black told the hearing: “I was approached by some S5 and S6 boys, who were very excited.

“They were saying things like, ‘Have you heard the news’. I said something like ‘I don’t know what you’re talking about’ as I did not want to engage them in this kind of conversation.

“I was then told something like, ‘If you haven’t heard, when you do, you’re going to go ballistic. Look out for Jessica Jackrabbit’.

“As I came back into the building, at least two staff stopped to ask me if I knew about Kirsty. It was obvious at this point that everyone knew what was going on.”

Ms Buchan, who had originally been a pupil at the school before teaching there, did not attend the hearing.

In her absence, the headteacher described the OnlyFans model as a “teacher who wanted to do a good job”.

However there had been several occasions when she “was not always clear on boundaries”.

She told the panel she was referring to “having poor judgement” when it came to being open about sharing her social media with pupils.

One concerned mother had even contacted Ms Black and reported how her son left messages for Ms Buchan on her OnlyFans profile.

The 34-year-old quit her job shortly after her adult content platform was discovered.

She claimed to rake in £60,000 in just one month through her X-rated page.

Ms Buchan argued she signed up because she needed some extra cash after her wages decreased.

Ms Black added how “there’s still talk” about the ordeal now.

Hannah Oakley, who investigated the case for GTCS, told the hearing Ms Buchan did not “ensure that her profile picture and bio” was not accessible to those under 18.

The panel found all allegations to be proven and she was today struck off from the profession by the General Teaching Council for Scotland (GTCS).

Panel member Mr Burton said she was unfit to teach and there was a “significant blurring of boundaries between her private life and her professional life”.

He added how she “used her profession in her bio as a selling tool”.

Mr Burton said Ms Buchan’s actions were “fundamentally incompatible with being a registered teacher”.

This comes as an NHS nurse is being investigated for taking explicit snaps for an adult website while at work.

Sarah Whittall, 24, has also made sex tapes and sells her used underwear on OnlyFans.

The healthcare assistant can be seen showing off her bra and knickers under her uniform.

Her NHS hospital ID lanyard is also on display in the pictures.

A MUM has shared how she ditched the UK for sunny Thailand with her kids and husband.

Lauren took to social media and shared why she left England and has no regrets in uprooting her family to South East Asia.

The mum-of-two revealed that she and her family decided the cost of living and their busy schedule was too much.

Instead of putting up with it, they sold their house and bought a one-way ticket to Thailand for a new life.

She said: “We didn’t leave because we hated the UK.

“We left because life started to feel like one long checklist we didn’t remember choosing. Wake up. Rush. Work. Nursery. School. Bills. Repeat.

“We wanted more presence, more connection, more sunsets and slow mornings.

“It’s kind of like a mix between touristy but not too touristy.

“The beach here is so good for kids because the water is really shallow.”

“I don’t know how parenthood will affect me,” he said. “I do plan to be the fun-dad though. 

“I want mum to do the telling off. I think I will always be driven to push myself in everything, though. 

“That’s something just innate in me. And I am sure I will need to feed and stoke that fire regularly.”

AS KING Canute found over a thousand years ago, it is quite difficult to stand on a beach and order the tide to recede. 

Today, it is equally difficult to make the argument that giving families cash is not always the best way of lifting them out of poverty.

This is especially true when one particular measure becomes the symbol of whether or not you’re on the right side of the debate about child poverty.

But as someone who now can afford the comforts of life, I constantly remind myself of my childhood.

The grinding poverty that I experienced when my father was killed
in a work accident when I was 12 – leaving my mother, who had serious health problems, to fight a long battle for minimal compensation.

Having only bread and dripping in the house was, by anyone’s standards, a hallmark of absolute poverty.

Why on earth would I question, therefore, the morality of reversing a Tory policy introduced eight years ago?

This restricts the additional supplement to universal credit – worth over £3,000 a child per year – to just two children. 

I should know, my friends tell me, that the easiest and quickest way of overcoming the growth in child poverty is to restore the £3.5 billion pounds it would cost to give this additional money for all the children in every family entitled to the credit.

It is true that the policy, introduced in 2017, failed its first test.

Women did not stop having more than two children even when they were strapped for cash. It is still unclear why. 

After all, many people have to make a calculation as to how many children they can afford.

But one thing must be certain: namely, that if you give parents a relatively substantial additional amount of money for every child they have whilst entitled to benefits, they are likely to have more children.

Nigel Farage, leader of Reform UK, said as much last week. His argument for restoring the benefit to the third and subsequent children was precisely that we needed to persuade low- income families to have more children.

Surely having children that you cannot afford to feed is the legacy of a bygone era?

All those earning below £60,000 are entitled to the basic child benefit, so the argument is about just over £60 a week extra per child.

One difficulty in having a sensible debate about what really works in overcoming intergenerational poverty is the lack of reliable statistics.

Some people have claimed, over recent days, that over 50 per cent of children in Manchester and Birmingham live in poverty. 

I fear that such claims should be treated with scepticism.

Those struggling to make ends meet – sometimes having not just one but two jobs – who pay their taxes and national insurance and plan their lives around what can be afforded, have the right to question where their hard-earned wages go.

The simple and obvious truth is that child poverty springs from the lack of income of the adults who care for them.

Transforming their lives impacts directly on the children in their family.

There is a limit to how much money taxpayers are willing to hand over to pay for another family’s children. 

Helping them to help themselves is a different matter.

So, what would I do?

Firstly, I would ensure that families with a disabled youngster automatically have the entitlement restored.

This would self-evidently apply also to multiple births. 

In both cases, life is not only more difficult, it is also harder to get and keep a job.

I would come down like a ton of bricks on absent parents.

My mum was a single parent because she was widowed; many others are single in the sense that the other partner has walked away.

The Child Maintenance Service should step up efforts to identify and pursue absent parents who do not pay their fair share towards their child. 

We, the community, have a clear duty to support and assist those in need.

To help those where a helping hand will restore them to independence and self-reliance.

But there is an obligation on individuals as well as the State, and mutual help starts with individuals taking some responsibility for themselves.

Finally, if (and this is where I am in full agreement with colleagues campaigning to dramatically reduce child poverty) we make substantial sums of money available to overcome hardship, then a comprehensive approach to supporting the families must surely be the best way to achieve this.

As ever in politics there is a trade off. What you spend on handing over cash is not available to invest in public services: that is the reality.

Help from the moment a child is born, not just with childcare but with nurturing and child development.

Dedicated backing to gain skills and employment and to taper the
withdrawal of help so that it genuinely becomes worthwhile having and keeping a job. 

A contract between the taxpayer and the individual or household.

“They’re actually a lot more accepting than the fans are.”

Anais plans to be stage-side to support her father throughout the reunion run.

England international Wilson, 33, bared all about growing up in Coventry as one of six children with a single mum and with a different dad to his siblings.

The Leeds transfer target spent time in foster care and had to regularly use food banks while also staying in safe houses after witnessing domestic violence at home.

He told the High Performance podcast: “I cried myself to sleep at night. I got to about 12, 13 – it was like suicidal moments.

“When I say I cried myself to sleep, I was just praying to God like ‘take me out of this environment, I want to become a footballer’.”

He admitted: “I’ve walked alongside the train track and was building up the courage to jump basically in front of the train.

“I’ve tied cables around my bedroom rail and my PlayStation remote controller to see if it was strong enough to hold my weight.

“Football really was my saviour, it was my escape.”

Wilson, though, refuses to blame his mother for any of his unstable upbringing, saying: “It was my mum on her own, all my siblings in the house.

“We had a three bedroom council house. Food was sparing to come by. That, along with a bit of turmoil.

“I probably have a lot of aggression from that point, but football was a place that I could be aggressive in my position on the pitch and it would be ok. So it was like a release really.”

Despite all of the success in his career on the pitch, Wilson admitted that he had started to become more aggressive over recent years and he started to gamble.

Though he hailed a Newcastle physio for spotting he needed help and making him take it – which felt “like a weight was lifted” after the very first session.

He added: “Once I started speaking, and revealed everything I’ve been through in life, she was like ‘Wow, how have you got to this point already without not seeing a therapist?’

“I speak to my wife about it, but I didn’t want to blur the lines with our relationship.

“She’s not my therapist, she’s my wife and the mother of my children, so I didn’t want to burden her with problems.

“You can speak to a therapist and it does feel a sense of relief afterwards.

“It’s an investment in yourself and more than worth it. I’m probably learning a lot about myself now – little traits that I have that were obviously triggered by things as a kid. I’m really happy.”

Meanwhile, Wilson appeared to wave goodbye to Newcastle with a tearful solo lap of honour round the St. James’ pitch on Sunday after the Magpies had secured Champions League qualification.

Although Magpies boss Eddie Howe refused to rule out a potential stay.

Howe said: “Let’s wait and see. We’re going to sit down and talk with his representatives.

“What I can say is Callum Wilson is and has been just an incredible footballer for Newcastle.

“Someone who epitomises the spirit that’s got us to where we are really professional. Brave.

“To come here and be the No.9 in the manner and the moment that he did in the club’s history.

“It was a difficult moment and the club needed hope and Callum gave them hope, led the line with that responsibility and the pressure that role brings unbelievably.

Can I use Healthy Start?

To be accepted for Healthy Start, you’ll need to be on one of the following benefits:

• Universal Credit, if your family’s take-home pay is £408 or less per month from employment
• Income-related Employment and Support Allowance (ESA)

However, if you’re under 18 and pregnant you can claim, even if you are not claiming any benefits.

How do I get the free food?

The funds to buy food is given through a prepaid card which can be used in any shop or supermarket that accepts Mastercard.

This includes major supermarkets such as Tesco, Sainsbury’s, Asda, Morrisons, as well as many smaller food shops.

The Healthy Start card is topped up every four weeks.

How much will I get?

You’ll get £4.25 each week of your pregnancy from the 10th week, £8.50 each week for children from birth to one, and £4.25 each week for children between one and four.

This works out as up to £442 worth of free food over a year.

The scheme stops when your child is four, or if you no longer receive benefits.

What can I use the card to buy?

With the funds you can buy plain cow’s milk or baby formula milk

You can also be used to buy fresh, frozen, and tinned fruit and vegetables, as well as fresh, dried, and tinned pulses.

You can also use the card to get free vitamin supplements.

These are tablets for women and drops for children.

How do I get the vitamins?

Women can get Healthy Start vitamin tablets while they’re pregnant and up to their child’s 1st birthday.

Children can have free Healthy Start vitamin drops from the age of four weeks until their 4th birthday.

Children who are having 500ml or more of formula a day do not need Healthy Start vitamins.

How do I apply?

Apply for the healthy start scheme online on the government website.

One mum took to the Facebook group Extreme Couponing and Bargains UK and showed how she filled her basket on the George app with discount clothes.

She wrote: “Lots of clothes reduced on the George app.”

Including in her shopping haul were some gamer-themed boys pjs for £1.50, which were for aged seven to eight.

The woman also bought a five-pack of cotton socks for £2 and some Pokemon-themed socks for £2.50.

A CONFUSED dad has been left stumped by his 10-year-old son’s maths homework with the internet dubbing it ‘absolutely bonkers.’

The father took to Reddit after being left puzzled by a multiple choice question given to his primary school-aged child.

While there are four different “answers” to choose from, the concerned dad noted there “must be missing something” from the equation – as none of the options appeared to be correct.

“This particular question was in my son’s math homework from the other day,” he wrote.

“They reviewed the answers in class today and apparently the answer was A.”

The question that has him, and everyone else, scratching their heads was this: Kayla has 18 bottles of bubbles. She wants to give two bottles to each of her six friends. How many bottles will she have left over?

Children then had the option of four expressions and were challenged to identify the one that “solves the problem”.

It read: A) (18 divide 2) divide 6, B) (18 divide 2) + 6, C) (18 x 2) – 6, or D) (18 x 2) + 6.

But as the dad – who said he was “curious how they came to this answer” – pointed out, “none of the options seemed right as I was expecting it to be 18 – (6 × 2)”.

Some people rushed to the comments section to try and work out the answer, but most agreed there was an issue with the options provided with describing it as ‘absolutely bonkers’.

“I think it’s more likely a typo or misprint. If they swapped the subtraction and multiplication sign and moved the parentheses on answer choice C, then: (18 x 2) – 6 could become 18 – (2 x 6),” one said.

“You’re correct, the teacher is wrong. If you simplify A, you get 1.5 which doesn’t make any sense in the context of the problem,” mused another.

While one simply said: “Seems that A is wrong to me too.”

Some tried to make it work, but struggled.

“Really twisting my brain here to make sense of A being correct, but here goes: if you divide 18 bottles by 2 you get 9 bottles in two separate piles. Now give one bottle from each pile to all 6 friends. The result would be 3 bottles leftover in two separate piles, or 6 leftover bottles total. Gymnastics,” declared one.

“A, if they are supposed to use Euclidean divisions (18/2 = she has 9 batches of 2, 9/6 => 1 and remainder is 3),” tried another.

While one described it as “bad logic”, but gave it a stab anyway.

“This is the only way I can get any of the answer choices (and it is A) – I’m not saying it’s correct, only wanted to explain their (wrong) logic:

“She’s splitting the 18 bottles into sets of 2, that’s 18 / 2. Then, she’s splitting those sets of 2 among her 6 friends.

“That’s why you divide by 6 next. That leaves you with A. But as everyone here has said, you and your son are correct. The worksheet is wrong.”

Eventually, the child decided to expose the issue with the question, writing: “None, 18 – (6 x 2).”

The father later returned to update everyone, stating “the worksheet is indeed wrong”.

“I did talk with the teacher and they went over it in class together. The teacher mentioned none of the answers were right and what my son came up with was correct,” he shared.

NETFLIX has struck a new deal that will see a popular kids show come to the streaming giants service.

The show was facing an uncertain future after losing funding but has been saved by the new Netflix deal.

Sesame Street will be hosted on the streaming service with 90 hours of previous episodes and a whole new season added to the Netflix catalogue.

The move comes after HBO decided not to renew the 50-year-old show’s deal.

Sesame Street was threatened with cancellation in the wake of the news but has now been thrown a lifeline.

The deal will see new episodes of the beloved children’s show run on Netflix, PBS, and the PBS Kids app later this year.

No date has been announced for the premiere as of yet.

Warner Bros Discovery, who aired the show since 2016, decided not to renew its deal for new episodes to air on HBO and Max.

However, episodes of the children’s TV series will remain there until 2027.

The new series, to be aired on Netflix, will be the shows impressive 56th season.

Episodes in the new season will revolve around a single, 11 minute story.

Sesame Workshop said in a statement: “This unique public-private partnership will enable us to bring our research-based curriculum to young children around the world with Netflix’s global reach, while ensuring children in communities across the US continue to have free access on public television to the Sesame Street they love.”

Sesame Street has been entertaining children since 1969 with beloved puppet characters.

The show has won more than 200 Emmys in its long history.

Funding for the show was thrown into question earlier this year when President Trump issued an executive order to block funding for TV network PBS (Public Broadcasting Service).

The move resulted in federal funding for the show, among other TV programmes for kids, being cut.

Netflix’ new deal will see the show saved from an otherwise uncertain future.

The streaming giant called Sesame Street a “beloved cornerstone of children’s educational television.”

Netflix promised to keep fan favourite segments like Elmo’s world and Cookie Monster’s Foodie Truck in the show.

The streaming service did hint at changes for the new season as well though, telling viewers to “expect new ways to play along.”

Sesame Street was co-founded by Lloyd Morrisett and Joan Ganz Cooney.
