HAPPY HOLS

Sam Thompson spends Xmas with new model girlfriend and introduces her to his mum

“I don’t know if we are allowed to talk about it, it was one of the announcements we were going to wait for later, Sam is looking to go into music.

“So he is having some surgery on his vocal chords.”

Sam gave the game away that the potential music career was pure banter and repeated: “Music?”

Then becoming serious, Pete said: No, you’re having vocal chord surgery?”

Sam replied: “Yeah, I genuinely am.

“I’ve got a cyst on my vocal chords.

“I’m having that taken out, which is going to be mad because it means I have three days of vocal rest.”

A vocal cord cyst is a benign lesion which may cause a hoarse voice.

They often occur in those who over-use their voice, such as singers, professional speakers and broadcasters and the cysts happen when glands that produce mucus in the throat get blocked up.

Signs of disease in the mouth

BAD breath and mouth ulcers are common occurrences.

But they may signal an underlying health problem, too.

Dr Rahul Nehra, Lead Dentist at The Smile Gallery, warns of the symptoms in your mouth that should never be ignored.

BLEEDING GUMS

PERSISTENT bleeding gums, especially during brushing or flossing, can indicate gum disease, such as gingivitis or periodontitis.

This is often caused by plaque buildup along the gumline, leading to inflammation and potential tissue damage.

It’s essential to address bleeding gums promptly to prevent further complications like gum recession and tooth loss.

For bleeding gums, proper oral hygiene is crucial, along with professional dental cleanings to remove plaque and tartar buildup.

BAD BREATH

Chronic bad breath, or halitosis, can be a sign of various dental issues, including poor oral hygiene, gum disease or cavities.

But it could be an underlying health problem such as diabetes or gastrointestinal issues.

Dental check-ups can help identify and address the root cause of bad breath, such as gum disease.

Improving bad breath typically involves maintaining good oral hygiene habits, such as brushing twice daily, flossing, and using an antimicrobial mouthwash.

LUMPS AND SORES

WHILE occasional mouth sores are common and often harmless, persistent lumps or sores that don’t heal within two weeks could be signs of more serious conditions such as oral cancer.

Other concerning signs include white or red patches, numbness, or difficulty moving the jaw. If you notice any of these symptoms, seeing a dentist or doctor for further evaluation is crucial.

Sores in the mouth may benefit from topical treatments or medications prescribed by a dentist or doctor, while monitoring for any signs of infection or malignancy.

WOBBLY TEETH

LOOSE teeth can indicate advanced gum disease or untreated tooth decay.

Without prompt intervention, this can lead to tooth loss and bone deterioration.

Seeking dental care as soon as possible can help preserve remaining teeth, possibly through procedures like scaling and root planing or dental restorations.

SWALLOWING DIFFICULTY

DIFFICULTY swallowing, also known as dysphagia, can be caused by various factors, including oral infections, inflamed tonsils, or even more severe issues like throat cancer.

If you experience persistent difficulty swallowing or a sensation of something stuck in your throat, it’s essential to seek medical or dental attention promptly for evaluation and appropriate treatment.

CROAKY VOICE

A CROAKY or hoarse voice can result from various conditions affecting the throat or vocal cords, including acid reflux, respiratory infections, or vocal cord nodules or polyps.

In some cases, poor oral hygiene or throat irritation can also contribute to voice changes.

If you experience persistent hoarseness or voice changes, it’s advisable to consult with a healthcare professional.

Addressing a croaky voice may involve lifestyle modifications, such as avoiding irritants like tobacco smoke or excessive vocal strain.

According to NHS after-care advice from London-based Guys and St Thomas’, they state: “For the first three days after the operation, we recommend that you do not speak or use your voice at all.

“This is to allow healing time for the surface of your vocal cord or cords around the site of the surgery.”

They state whispering, laughing or humming should also be avoided.

SAM’S SURGERY

Fans will no doubt be left disappointed by the after-effects of his surgery, as Sam tends to spill all the juicy detail in his podcast chats.

Recently, after months of dating, Sam announced at the beginning of December that he and girlfriend Talitha Balinska had made things “official”.

Speaking to Pete on their podcast, Sam confirmed they had taken their romance to the next level.

He said excitedly: “I’ve got a girlfriend. I’ve got a girlfriend!”

Sam then revealed the moment he asked Talitha out on a dinner date, explaining: “Yeah, I just, I just said, ‘Look, I really like you. I mean, I really, really like you and you make me feel really… comfortable.’”

Continuing, the star said: “You know, I wouldn’t be dating someone this amount of time if I didn’t think it had legs to last.

“So will you be my girlfriend?’ And she said ‘yes’. And so I said, ‘great’”.

Yet fans recently suspected the pair had split following a cryptic message from Sam on his page.

She took to social media to share a snap of him hooked up to a series of machines while lying on a hospital bed before she gave fans an update.

In the first update shared hours after the initial post about her son leo, Louise penned: “Thank you for your kind messages.

“He is doing really really well and as always has been looked after incredibly well by the angels of our universe (I feel a suitable LinkedIn job description for nurses and doctors).

“I think I have the most supportive mum following on here ever. You guys are so brilliant – so practical, resourceful and everyone has dealt with some kind of drama at some point over their life so between 1.5million of you I think we have nearly everything covered.”

She added in the next post: “I did night shift, dad will switch in and do day shift as my breath and hair is horrendous. TMI. Now time for some of my own medication.”

Earlier today, Louise told her followers how she had rushed the youngster to hospital after his struggle with “bleeding tonsils”.

Alongside the snap showing him in the ward, she wrote: “Nothing like a wild start to the year.

“Hopefully just a temporary blip.

“Anyone else’s child had bleeding tonsils before?”

Bleeding tonsils can be a sign of infection, potentially after tonsillitis, or following surgery.

This comes after Louise had a hospital dash of her own on Christmas Eve.

She had to previously undergo the removal of her entire large intestine (colon) due to her inflammatory bowel condition, which resulted in her getting her life-saving stoma bag.

But on Christmas Eve, Louise revealed she had spent a large chunk of time in hospital having a procedure.

Louise underwent a proctoscopy, which, according to the NHS, is an examination where an endoscopist looks directly at the anal canal with a small rigid proctoscope.

Taking to her Instagram page to reveal her hospital visit and explain what she had done.

“Looks dramatic but it wasn’t. I had a proctoscopy today. It’s like a colonoscopy but not as invasive because I don’t have a colon so there isn’t very far the camera can go,” she penned over the first slide.

“Still bloody awkward and a tiny bit uncomfortable but fentanyl is a wonder drug,” she penned.

SAM’S ROMANCE

After months of dating, Sam announced at the beginning of December that he and Talitha had made things “official”.

Speaking to his best pal Pete Wicks on their Staying Relevant podcast, Sam confirmed they had taken their romance to the next level.

In December, the former King of the I’m A Celeb jungle returned from Australia, where he was filming for I’m A Celeb’s spin-off show Unpacked.

And while he was Down Under, new girlfriend Talitha was making herself at home in his £3M Chelsea abode.

Sam also previously introduced Talitha to his sister Louise, her fiancé Ryan, and their son Leo and they shared a picture of the moment.

THE SPLIT

Meanwhile, Sam and his last girlfriend Zara, who appeared on Made In Chelsea together, called time on their romance last December.

The couple spent last Christmas apart, confirming shortly after that they had ended their relationship after “a tough year”.

A source close to the couple told MailOnline at the time: “Sam and Zara have ended their relationship. It’s been an incredibly difficult decision for them to part ways, they still care and have a lot of love for each other.”

Love Island’s Charlie Frederick set for All Stars years after awkward feud with ex

Charlie Frederick has reportedly signed up for Love Island: All Stars, eight years on from when he briefly appeared on the regular edition of the ITV2 dating show

Charlie Frederick has reportedly signed up for Love Island: All Stars. The reality star, 29, initially appeared briefly on the 2018 edition of the ITV2 dating competition, where he was coupled up with Hayley Hughes for a matter of days before being dumped from the famous villa.

Now, it’s thought that Charlie, who also appeared on Made in Chelsea as the best friend of Sam Holmes, is set to make a return to the villa after being persuaded by bosses to take part in the spin-off, which brings back memorable characters from the regular version of the series.

This year, the ITV dating show has had a huge format shake-up, with singletons heading out to South Africa for six weeks, rather than five as has been the case in previous years.

A source told The Sun: “Charlie’s been in the gym nonstop since he spoke to bosses about returning to the show. He went too early when he was on the 2018 series, the first time – this time he wants to find love!”

Following his initial stint on Love Island, Charlie claimed he would have progressed further in the competition had he not been coupled up with Hayley, and she described him as “bitter” after hearing his comments. Then, during an appearance on ITV’s Lorraine, the pair refused to sit with each other in the studio. At the time, Charlie explained: “We’re fine, we’re just frosty cause I’m a bit gutted to be honest. You just want to get your own piece across.

“I’m bitter and angry, not to her; I can’t hold a grudge. It is what it is. I feel like I’ve been hard done by, and my chance has been taken away from me. It was so much fun, I’m missing it.” Lorraine, who was visibly sensing the awkwardness, then jokingly told Charlie to “go away” so Hayley could come in. Charlie said it was “so awkward” as he gestured with his arms while walking out of the studio.

Hayley then appeared from the other side to avoid walking past Charlie. On her relationship with Charlie, she said: “Maybe near the end, I was a bit cold. I think that is something I need to work on. If I’m not interested in someone or can’t see it going any furthe,r I pull away.” After splitting from Hayley, Charlie had a relationship with Instagram model Natalie Clowes.

Insiders recently claimed that villa bombshell Yasmin Pettet is set to let the cameras follow her all over again, and she is currently being considered for a return to the villa when All Stars comes back to screens early next year, following her split from Jamie Rhodes. A source said: “ITV bosses are already starting to approach ex Islanders and they knew from the moment Yas stepped into the villa, she’d make the perfect ‘All Star’ – she’s one of the most controversial bombshells in the show’s history and will have absolutely no issue shaking up the villa for the second time, or treading on people’s toes.

“Now things are over with Jamie; she’s in very early, tentative talks. She’s not sure if going back to the show would be the right move, but she’s had loads of offers

Ciaran Davies finished runner-up with then-girlfriend Nicole Samuel, but they called it quits in December 2024. Bosses are now keen to get the Welsh hunk on board, although he is in the very early stages of negotiations right now.

Prior to that, it was reported that Jess Harding, who won series 10 of the regular series alongside Sammy Root, is also in talks lined up for the next competition, when it kicks off in South Africa next year.

Alima Gagigo is also said to be in meetings with bosses about a comeback, just weeks after she competed in series 12 of the programme and was dumped on Day 24. Andrada Pop, who was a bombshell in Casa Amor earlier this year, has also been approached by producers.

Single Islanders from across the 10 years of the show will return to the famous Villa in South Africa, but this time they’ll be in the villa for six weeks instead of five.

Speaking on the renewal, Mike Spencer-Hayter, Creative Director at Lifted Entertainment, said: “Love Island: All Stars has quickly established itself as a stand-alone hit, keeping fans of the show gripped by iconic Islanders from the past 10 years returning for another chance to find love. We are very excited about series 3, and you can expect the twists and turns to continue in All Stars, after an incredible smash hit summer series.”

The second series of Love Island: All Stars aired earlier this year and was won by Gabby Allen and Casey O’Gorman. The series also saw the reunion of Ronnie Vint and Harriet Blackmore – but it didn’t come without complaints.

She then shared a photo of her with a nasal cannula on her face and inserted into her nostrils.

Louise went on to pen: “These appointments are so important and they managed to fit me in quite urgently so I jumped at the offering of a 24th December date, then when it came around I realised the magnitude of it being Christmas Eve.

“What it REALLY made me think was…

“Despite all the chaos of what I’ve been through, I still think we are incredibly lucky to have the NHS which NEVER clocks off in case of emergencies.”

She then added on the next slide: “The NHS never sleeps.

“I had a proctoscope today.

“A nice little Christmas Eve camera up my bum.

“It prompted me to say a big thank you to everyone that is working as part of the NHS over the bank holidays.”

She then concluded: “Thanks for keeping the country ticking along and for keeping our loved ones alive.”

Reasons for getting a proctoscopy include bleeding from your anus, pain in the lower abdomen (tummy), persistent diarrhoea or changes to your bowel habits.

“I worked so hard last year, I neglected friends and family, even myself a bit.”

Sam continued: “One of the big takeaways was to give myself some time, otherwise the danger is you get ill.

“We like to think we’re superheroes but then we burn out.”

But he has now admitted he won’t date anyone unless he sees it going far into his future.
