Loose Women star Nadia Sawalha is suffering from a painful health condition as she opens up about her appearance and her experience chatting to Dr Zoe Williams.
During the show on Thursday, 30 October, Jane Moore asked Nadia the reason she had her glasses on and opted for a no-makeup look. Nadia joked that in the past, if she wore her glasses, then people would think she was hungover, before she explained that her face felt ‘bruised’ due to her stress levels.
She discussed how she thought it was an allergy at first before explaining: “It just feels a bit bruised, but lovely doctor Zoe came and saw me, I had my own session with her in my dressing room, and I said to her ‘honestly Zoe I think it’s stress’ and she agreed.”
Nadia explained how Zoe suggested taking deep breaths and taking a bit of ‘time out’. Nadia went on to say that she hadn’t cried properly in about ‘two or three years’, saying: “I cry a little bit and then I stop. I honestly think it is that. When we get stressed, why do we think it doesn’t impact our body?” She went on to thank Zoe and said she was a ‘special woman’.
The Loose Women panellist also shared a video on her Instagram page where she revealed her sister couldn’t believe she was going on live TV ‘looking like that’. Nadia revealed her sister said she looked like she ‘had three bottles of sauvignon blanc’ and had ‘fallen asleep in a hedge’.
Fans rushed to send their well wishes as one person wrote: “Bless you Nadia I hope it clears up soon it looks uncomfortable”, while another added: “Ohhh Nadia I love how strong and humble you are. You’re beautiful inside out even with puffy eyes. Hope they get better”.
It follows after Nadia recently opened up on her 23-year marriage, revealing that it nearly ended over her husband’s intense jealousy. The 60-year-old married husband Mark Adderley in 2002 and has previously opened up about hurdles in their relationship.
Nadia spoke in the past about her husband achieving sobriety after struggling with alcohol for many years and being diagnosed with Bipolar II disorder and depression back in 2021. Now, the TV personality has revealed that after quitting alcohol, Mark began to suffer with jealousy.
Nadia told the ITV show: “My kids hate it what doesn’t kill us makes us stronger but I think that it probably has with Mark and I. I think about when things have been really tough in our marriage and we’ve thought, ‘God we’re not going to get through this’ but then we do.
“For him, it definitely would have been points through my menopause when I was a screaming banshee nutter. I was very difficult, I was awful.”
As for his behaviour that she struggled him, Nadia said: “He’s been brilliant with his sobriety and then after the sobriety, after he got sober, he cross-addicted a lot to jealousy and the jealousy was just awful. It was so bad.
“When we went to couples’ counselling, I said that unless you do some work on this, we’re not going to survive it. It’s something that’s made me love him even more that he’s done work on that.”
Loose Women legend Coleen Nolan became emotional on Monday’s edition of ITV’s chat show as she recalled the exact moment her ‘insecurities’ over her weight began

Coleen Nolan became emotional as she recalled the exact moment the ‘insecurities’ with her weight began. The Loose Women star, 60, has been open about her weight journey over the years, but on Monday’s edition of the ITV chat show, she pinpointed the moment everything began for her.
The singer, who shot to fame as the youngest member of The Nolan Sisters, was grateful that she and her siblings did not have to endure the onslaught of social media trolling when they became famous in the late 1970s but remembered being called ‘heavy’ when she was a child, and admitted that it stayed with her ever since.
Appearing alongside anchor Ruth Langsford, as well as fellow panellist Gloria Hunniford and former EastEnders actress Nadia Sawalha, Coleen recalled feeling as if she was the ‘biggest’ in the group when they were enjoying success with hits like I’m In The Mood For Dancing and Gotta Pull Myself Together.
She said: “I look now and go ‘I don’t know what I was worried about…’ but I always felt as if I was the biggest in the group, I was the one with the big boobs and I was quite tall believe it or not. So I always had that, luckily it wasn’t in the social media age so I wasn’t getting trolled or reading all about it. But my insecurities about my weight started actually from a friend of the family.”
The former Dancing On Ice star couldn’t recall exactly who it was, but recalled being ‘very small’ when a friend of the family had picked her up when she was just young, and begged with parents and adults to be mindful of what they say around children.
“I can’t remember who it was, I know it was a guy, and I was only very, very small. He went to pick me up and said ‘Ooh, she’s a heavy one.’
“And it stayed with me my whole life. I have such a phobia of being picked up, I constantly think ‘Oh don’t pick me up because I’m gonna be too heavy. This has been my whole life. As a parent or adults around children, you need to be really careful around the language because it stays.”
She said: “I feel much better than I’ve ever felt. I’ve changed my diet and had my teeth done, which I just love… I can’t stop smiling.”
Coleen went on to joke that she was concerned she would “be in a mobility scooter before 60” if she didn’t lose weight as her “back and hips were bad”.
“Getting off the sofa was hard work,” she explained.
It was her daughter Ciara who inspired her to become vegan after showing her documentaries about the health benefits of the lifestyle.
“I’ve probably dropped a couple of stone,” she added. ” The weight loss was just a bonus. Me going vegan was never about losing weight.”
“House of Guinness,” as in the famous Dublin brewery, begins with the disclaimer “inspired by true facts,” which is another way of saying, “Don’t believe everything you’ll see.” Or, in “Dragnet”-speak, “Names have not been changed, and we have no desire or obligation to protect the innocent. This is a drama, and anyway, you can’t libel the dead.” The framing may be sound, but the portraits are imaginary.
The unchanged names in the series, which premieres Thursday on Netflix, belong to the four children of Benjamin Lee Guinness, whose grandfather created the signature porter in 1778. They are Arthur (Anthony Boyle), Edward (Louis Partridge), Anne (Emily Fairn) and Benjamin (Fionn O’Shea). As we begin, it is 1868 and Benjamin Lee, just deceased, has left the brewery in equal shares to Arthur, who has been away in London for five years losing his accent and finding peace, and Edward, who has been pretty much running the place. Anne, only a woman, and a married one, is basically skipped over; and Benjamin, who has problems with drink and gambling, is given a small allowance, because, as expressed in his late father’s will, “I feel it wise not to burden Benjamin with the temptations that come with fortune.”
As seen here, neither Arthur nor Edward, whose professional expertise is mostly represented by signing papers and occasionally walking around his factory — you won’t learn anything about how Guinness is made — seems capable of running a brewery. But all that really matters to the show is that each is a tortured romantic and will have to find a way to thrive in their uneasy, unasked-for partnership.
Indeed, as a viewer in search of entertainment rather than enlightenment, it’s best to treat these characters, however much attached they are to the real people whose names they bear, as entirely fictional. There are also, of course, characters mixed up in this business who have no factual counterparts, and by virtue of their fates not being written in books or Wikipedia pages, are subject to the whims of series creator Steven Knight (“Peaky Blinders,” “A Thousand Blows,”), creating opportunities for suspense that might otherwise be lacking.
Prime among these creations are Sean Rafferty (James Norton), the Guinness family fixer, a handsome brute whom the ladies like, and the beautiful, brilliant Ellen Cochrane (Niamh McCormack), a Catholic firebrand who sees a better way toward Irish independence than throwing rocks at old man Guinness’ hearse or setting beer barrels on fire; for some reason, the Fenians, epitomized by Ellen’s “bonehead” brother Patrick (Seamus O’Hara), a grating presence and no advertisement for the movement, have decided that targeting Guinness (rich, Protestant) is going to get them somewhere.

(Ben Blackall / Netflix)
Apart from the politics, the family squabbles and the not particularly worrying fortunes of the family business — I mean, you can still order a Guinness — the main concerns of this historical melodrama, this stout opera, if you will, are beating hearts and heaving breasts. Skeptically accepting a meeting with Edward in the spirit of detente, Ellen feels electricity sparking between them, and vice versa. (More acceptably, Edward also has eyes for his cousin Adelaide Guinness, played by Ann Skelly, who has none for him.) Ben, meanwhile, is beloved by Lady Christine O’Madden (Jessica Reynolds), who foolishly believes she can reform him. Well, we’ve all seen that story.
But wait, there’s more! In this telling, at least, Arthur is gay, which is a problem for him as a person living in a super-religious country in the late 19th century and as a representative of the family and their eponymous product. If his orientation becomes known, it is suggested, the world will cease drinking his beer, and the family will be forced to subsist on the millions of pounds they have in the bank and whatever they can scrape off the several estates they own around the country. (Whenever contemporary figures are mentioned, screen-filling subtitles translate the sum into its 2025 equivalent, just so you realize how freaking rich these people were. The budget of the series is not sufficient to make that readily apparent.)
Arthur’s “complication,” which is no secret among his nonjudgmental siblings, has made him A) a target for blackmail, and B) a person in immediate need of a wife, especially as he’s about to stand for his late father’s seat in parliament. Enter Aunt Agnes Guinness (Dervla Kirwan), the story’s yenta, and marriage prospect Lady Olivia Hedges (Danielle Galligan), who is quite happy to settle for a maximum of freedom and a modicum of responsibility, and who curses in a most unladylike fashion. (But, really, the F-words and the Sh-words fly everywhere in this show.)
And what about Anne, saddled with a degenerative disease and a less-than-sexy cleric husband? She’ll sublimate her own romantic heartache in urban renewal and other good works. (Factually, the family had a philanthropic bent, and the company was so far ahead of its time in treating its workers well, including pensions beginning in the 1880s — that gets a moment here — and providing medical care to staff and their families, that much of this country still hasn’t caught up. They were less evolved, however, for many years, when it came to hiring Catholics.)
What else? There’s a curious Hobbit of a character named Byron Hedges (Jack Gleeson), an illegitimate cousin who arrives to sell himself as the man to represent their interests in America, into which Edward is keen to expand; we get some scenes set in New York. There’s Potter (Michael McElhatton), the droll, dry butler, who looks askance upon the younger Guinnesses but stays loyal, like butlers do. And Bonnie Champion (David Wilmot), a charismatic crime lord who’s also involved in the company’s export business.
There’s nothing subtle about “House of Guinness,” which makes its points in declarative sentences — sometimes gussied up with Irish-y prose — and gives its characters hardly a moment to relax and enjoy their porter, swelling the soundtrack with aggressive modern Irish rock and rap to make it exciting to the people of 2025. The show can border on the cornball; the characters are the sort you might have seen in the sort of dramas popular in 1868. But the actors inhabit their roles with commitment, so that even the bad company is good company. Good craic, as they say over there.
After losing nearly six stone since December with the help of weight-loss injections, Emilly Murray has been left with an unwanted reminder of her former body – loose skin.
“I can’t wear what I want to wear,” says the 35-year-old from Liverpool. “I cannot get my legs out because the skin hangs over my knee so much.”
While she doesn’t regret losing weight for the benefit of her health, Emilly says the loose skin on her thighs “really does get me down” as it makes her feel self-conscious, and the way she looks naked makes her feel like a “catfish”.
“It looks okay when it’s all pulled in, but then I feel like, when I take my clothes off, I look like a 90-year-old woman. It is horrendous.”
This month marks two years since the weight-loss injection Wegovy became available on the NHS to particular patients attending weight-loss management clinics in England, Wales and Scotland. It has been available privately since spring 2023.
Another weight-loss drug, Mounjaro, became available privately in February 2024 and via the NHS in June. The drugs, which work by suppressing appetite, are not suitable for everyone and can have severe side effects.
Emilly Murray @itsanewmeemj
Emilly says her loose skin makes her feel self-conscious and like “a catfish in clothes”
Many people credit the at-home jabs with helping them quickly lose weight, but some are finding their self-confidence has been dented by how their arms, stomach, breasts and thighs now look.
Some also notice loose skin on their cheeks and neck, leading to what has been dubbed “Ozempic face” on social media.
When someone gains weight, their skin adapts and stretches, but when they lose weight their skin can remain stretched, explains Nora Nugent, president of the British Association of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons (Baaps).
“The more rapid [the weight loss], the more loose skin,” she adds.
In some cases, loose skin can cause irritation and lead to infection, but for many people, the effects are less severe and more of an unwanted nuisance.
In online communities dedicated to weight-loss drugs, people share tips about how they hope to reduce loose skin through building muscle, taking collagen supplements and using lotions.
Charmaine Hines @mj_mum_of_3
Charmaine says some people think the result of losing weight will be like a “fairy tale”
But Ms Nugent says that after “significant” weight loss, surgery is the only effective option. And, for those who have overcome weight issues, the cost of an operation often presents a further challenge.
There are several kinds of procedures to remove loose skin, collectively known as body contouring, but they are rarely available on the NHS and only if patients meet specific criteria.
They would need to show that their loose skin is significantly interfering with everyday tasks like washing and dressing themselves, says Mark Soldin, a plastic surgeon who works in private practice and for the NHS.
Tackling obesity is a priority for the health service, as losing weight can reduce the risk of developing serious illnesses associated with obesity. These include cancer and heart disease, the treatment of which is estimated to cost the NHS about £11bn a year.
But Mr Soldin says body contouring is largely seen as cosmetic surgery and a low priority for NHS managers who must decide how to use limited government funding.
“There are more important things for the NHS to deal with – people that have had trauma like broken legs, heart attacks and so on,” he tells us.
Charmaine Hines @mj_mum_of_3
Charmaine has been left with loose skin on her stomach after losing six stone (38kg) in eight months
He says that some patients in the area where he works – London and nearby Surrey – might face costs as high as £40,000 if they cannot access surgery on the NHS and choose to go private.
Though this depends on the amount of loose skin they have and the particular procedures they want. The most common are for the face, tummy, thighs and breasts.
Emilly aims to have enough money for surgery by next spring. “I’m trying to save up but I’ll also, maybe, have to look at loans or credit cards.”
Grace Parkin, who lives in Sheffield, has saved enough money for the procedures she wants – a tummy tuck, liposuction and breast uplift – but is going abroad to have them done because it is cheaper.
“I’ve put the effort in, lost nine stone (57kg), and spent years and years hating the way that I look,” says the 34-year-old. “I want to look how I want to look.”
Though going abroad for surgery is also something that should be carefully considered.
Grace Parkin @forevergraceful21
Next year, Grace is heading abroad for three skin procedures in a bid to save money
“I know [some] people go without a problem, but we are collecting data on people who return from surgery overseas with complications,” says Ms Nugent.
Her organisation, Baaps, represents plastic surgeons working privately in the UK.
“Tummy tucks are one of the most common procedures to return with a complication from,” she adds.
The NHS says people considering surgery abroad should discuss it with their GP beforehand.
Charmaine Hines views surgery as a “last resort” because of the costs involved and the possible scarring she might be left with.
And because skin removal surgeries can take up to six hours, they carry a higher risk of medical complications like hypothermia, pressure sores and infection.
Like Emilly, Charmaine lost about six stone (38kg) and has similar frustrations about how her body looks now.
Though in case she changes her mind, she has been putting some money aside for a tummy tuck.
Laura Hughes @thenewlauraproject
Since she lost weight Laura says she enjoys wearing dresses instead of cardigans
“You have in your head that it’s this fairy tale – you’re going to get to the end and you’ll have this perfect body and you’re going to look in the mirror and feel fantastic,” says the 35-year-old from Newtown in mid-Wales.
“But sadly, that isn’t the case, because there is the [loose] skin that goes with it.”
Though not everyone is as unhappy with their loose skin.
“I just embrace it,” says Laura Hughes, 47, from Aberdeen. “It doesn’t bother me.”
She wasn’t concerned about developing loose skin when she started taking weight-loss medication a year ago and has lost 12 stone (76kg) since then.
During that time, she noticed loose skin appearing gradually, especially on her arms.
Laura says the medication has “completely changed” her life as before she could hardly walk and “didn’t go out” much.
Now she’s posting selfies on social media and has started DJ lessons, something she never felt confident enough to do before.
EXCLUSIVE: Hollyoaks and Loose Women star Sherrie Hewson says older television viewers are being treated like “coffin dodgers” and more older people need to be seen on screen

Sherrie Hewson says TV bosses need to make more shows with older people in them.
The former Loose Women star, 75, believes mature telly fans are being treated like “coffin dodgers” and broadcasters are “chasing the young and forgetting the old”.
According to a new report called The Upper Third, commissioned by Freeview broadcaster Great! TV, more than a quarter of viewers feel forgotten by today’s TV producers, despite watching more television than any other age group.
The Great! network – including Great! TV, Great! Action, Great! Mystery, and Great! Romance – is relaunching for the very audiences who feel left behind by normal TV, prioritising much-loved and classic, high-quality TV series and movies.

Speaking about the campaign, Sherrie said: “This is a brilliant campaign and long overdue. If you lived in my world, you’d know this is exactly what people want.
“Today’s TV so often chases the young and forgets the rest but for many of us, the joy of great television has always been simple – you just watch a show and you laugh, or you don’t. Funny is funny.
“Look at the adverts on television, you never see older people in adverts unless they’re in a funeral parlour or a cremation or life insurance. It’s like we’re being treated like coffin dodgers or something.”
Sherrie is currently playing Martha Blake in Hollyoaks(Image: Lime)
She continued: “I did the remake of Are You Being Served? and I played Mrs Slocombe and we got something like eight million viewers for that one episode and every character in that is older. Everybody loved it.
“You don’t have to remake these shows but just make the older shows more accessible so people can see them.”
Sherrie thinks entertainment shows such as Naked Attraction are taking too greater priority over the dramas and sitcoms she grew up loving.

She added: “Somebody’s paid to have these commissioned and I don’t get it. Maybe it’s because I’m the age I am but my daughter who’s 40 thinks its awful to so it’s not just me.”
Sherrie is currently playing Martha Blake in Channel 4 soap Hollyoaks, the mother of serial killer Jeremy Blake (Jeremy Sheffield).
She is also known for playing Maureen Holdsworth in Coronation Street, Lesley Meredith in Emmerdale, Joyce Temple-Savage in Benidorm and for her stint as Loose Women panellist.
Katie Piper has admitted she is unsure on her Loose Women future as ITV get ready to have a huge daytime television shake up
Katie Piper doesn’t know what her future holds(Image: Ken McKay/ITV/REX/Shutterstock)
Katie Piper has candidly admitted she doesn’t know what the future holds for her Loose Women role. The presenter is among a number of stars who could see their time on the show cut short due to the impending huge changes on the ITV panel show.
She has admitted she is currently in the dark about her future as the new look Daytime line-up gets ready to launch in January. The changes will see Loose Women switch to just being a seasonal show.
Elsewhere, Good Morning Britain will be extended, chopping Lorraine episodes to just 30 minutes. For the Loose Women panel, they will only be on air seasonally, running for just 30 weeks.
Speaking of the switch-up, Katie admitted she doesn’t know what is coming her way. When asked by The Sun about the situation at the National Television Awards, she admitted: “You’d have to ask the producers that. I don’t know.”
The decision to drop the show’s 100-strong audience will also see bosses remove the need for extra security and a warm-up act. But the move is said to have angered a number of the regular panellists who feed off the audience interaction.
The cost-cutting measure also sees This Morning and GMB move away from its current home at BBC Studioworks Television Centre.
The show is going to have some big changes(Image: Ken McKay/ITV/REX/Shutterstock)
And in July, the big changes at Loose Women were explained in full. The iconic lunchtime chat show, which is best known for its bold debates and A-list guests, is reportedly getting ready to cut celebrity interviews completely from January as part of the channel’s sweeping budget cuts.
Instead, it’s said the high-profile bookings will now be prioritised for Lorraine and This Morning. This will leave Loose Women to rely solely on its panel discussions of the day’s news and lifestyle topics.
“Not having guests is a big blow for both the presenters and viewers at home,” an insider revealed at the time. “The celebrity interviews are often one of the highlights of the show and bring a unique energy you don’t get on other programmes. It feels like a strange decision to cut them altogether.”
It will also only air for 30 weeks of the year rather than its usual 52, meaning production time will be slashed by nearly in half.
And speaking of cutting the audience, Nadia Sawalha admitted she was “devastated” by the news. It also meant that f her close friend and warm-up artist Lee Peart has lost his job as a result.
“The audience is so important for the show,” Nadia said. “What a lot of people don’t realise is that we’re self-employed. Every contract is a new contract – I could be let go tomorrow or in five years. It’s brutal.”
The TV star told fans that her Talking Royals podcast is now being turned into a weekly TV show that will air on Sunday mornings on ITV and ITVX.
The show has proved popular as a podcast and revisits historic moments from royal history, alongside discussing the headlines of the day.
An excited Charlene shared the news that the show was now going to be on TV, and told fans: “Some work news… ITV liked our @itvnews Talking Royals podcast so much, it’s heading to Sunday mornings on ITV1 and ITVX from Sept 21st at 12.30pm.
“It’s a modern take on a centuries-old establishment. Join me @chris.ship.itv @lizzierobinsonitv and a mix of incredible guests for debate, updates, and analysis.
“And since flags are having a moment .. do notice that our backdrop represents the Commonwealth countries, of whom the King is also head. A fact often forgotten in the current climate.”
Fans immediately rushed to congratulate Charlene, one fan wrote: “Well done! Can’t wait to watch!”
Another added: “Awesome news Charlene!”
This one said: “Brilliant news, congratulation!”
Hailing from Greenwich in South London, Charlene’s journalism career began as a reporter on Radio 1’s Newsbeat and its sister digital station, BBC Radio 1Xtra back in 2002.

HAVING struggled to lose weight for years, it was a simple diet change that finally helped Emma Dennison to shed the pounds.
But with her huge weight loss came a big surprise – hiding under her loose skin.

With the weight gain came plummeting self esteemCredit: Cover Images
Emma had tried to lose weight for years without success.
And after a catastrophic knee injury left her unable to exercise, she decided it was time to give up.
The 42-year-old weighed more than 20 stone, and as her size grew, her self-esteem shrank.
“I wasn’t always big. I was a bit heavier in school, but I stayed active through university,” she said.
“Then in 2006, I completely blew out my knee. I was in a full cast for eight months. That’s when the weight started creeping on.
“It wasn’t that I was eating junk all day – I just ate too much. And food became my comfort when life felt overwhelming.
“I didn’t recognise myself in the mirror. I’d stopped shopping for clothes I liked. I always had to go to the ‘fat shop,’ and even then, I hated everything. I stopped being in photos. I’d take a thousand of my kids and husband, but I’d avoid the camera.”
Emma is a full-time sheep farmer and mum to Henry, now ten, and Thomas, 8.
Her life never slowed down and she struggled with emotional eating and portion control.
When Emma and her husband Mervyn, from Tipperary, Ireland, began trying for a third baby, she didn’t suspect her weight might be a factor.
‘No shortcuts exist’ I’m an Irish teen who lost almost 60 pounds in 16 weeks following a routine that works wonders
She said: “All my hormone levels were fine, but we tried for two years and nothing happened. Eventually, I just said, ‘That’s it. We’ve got two beautiful boys. It’s not meant to be.’”
With the baby dream put to rest, Emma decided it was finally time to focus on her health and gave the 1:1 Diet by Cambridge Weight Plan a go, a programme that mixes meal replacements and normal food with consultant support.
Starting the plan in September 2021, Emma steadily lost weight.
She said: “By May, I was down nearly six stone. Then the scales stopped moving. I was confused. Until that point, I had been consistently losing weight.”
THEN CAME A SURPRISE…
“One night, just for the craic, I took a pregnancy test. I was sure it would be negative… but it wasn’t,” she recalled.
“I was sitting on the toilet at half eleven at night, staring at it thinking, ‘Oh my God. I’m pregnant.’ I didn’t want to wake Mervyn so I lay awake half the night thinking about how I would tell him.”
When she saw the doctor the next day, the news got even more shocking.
“He said, ‘Emma, you’re not just pregnant – you’re already 15 weeks along.’ The weight loss had hidden my bump under loose skin”, she says. Her third pregnancy, Emma says, was worlds apart from her previous two.
“I had no Symphysis Pubis Dysfunction. I was active right up to the end. Two days before my C-section, I was shearing sheep. I honestly believe losing weight made the difference. I felt strong and capable for the first time in years.”
After giving birth to her miracle baby Alistair two years ago, Emma focused on expressing milk, a goal she hadn’t achieved with her older sons.
“I was constantly hungry while expressing. A lot of the weight went back on, but I didn’t panic. I knew I had a plan,” she said.

She returned to the 1:1 Diet in May 2023, and by December had lost the additional weight, reaching a total loss of eight stone.
Emma now fluctuates comfortably between a size 12 and 14.
She said: “Size 10 doesn’t suit me. I’m curvy and that’s okay. I’m in my 40s now, not my 20s. I want to be healthy, strong, and confident.”
One of the biggest changes came when she began to love fashion again.
She said: “I remember walking into a shop and picking up a top, knowing it would fit. I sat in the car afterwards and cried. That was a freedom I hadn’t felt in years.”
Since then, Emma has become a 1:1 consultant herself, training up while on maternity leave so she can help others see a similar transformation.
And her proudest moment came when she completed Couch to 5k – something her 14-year-old self never imagined.
She said: “I was forced to run a 1,500m race in school. I came dead last – and I mean a long way last. People laughed. When I hit 5k, I thought, ‘Up yours’ to every single one of them.

The NHS 12-step plan to help you lose weight
FROM faddy diets to dodgy detoxes – most of us have heard it all before when it comes to weight loss.
But burning fat can be easy and mostly free.
In fact, the NHS has a whole load of medically-approved tips for weight loss and shedding body fat once and for all…
Don’t skip breakfast Skipping breakfast will not help you lose weight. You could miss out on essential nutrients and you may end up snacking more throughout the day because you feel hungry.
Eat regular meals Eating at regular times during the day helps burn calories at a faster rate. It also reduces the temptation to snack on foods high in fat and sugar.
Eat plenty of fruit and veg Fruit and veg are low in calories and fat, and high in fibre – 3 essential ingredients for successful weight loss. They also contain plenty of vitamins and minerals.
Get more active Being active is key to losing weight and keeping it off. As well as providing lots of health benefits, exercise can help burn off the excess calories you cannot lose through diet alone.
Drink lots of water People sometimes confuse thirst with hunger. You can end up consuming extra calories when a glass of water is really what you need.
Eat high fibre foods Foods containing lots of fibre can help keep you feeling full, which is perfect for losing weight. Fibre is only found in food from plants, such as fruit and veg, oats, wholegrain bread, brown rice and pasta, and beans, peas and lentils.
Read food labels Knowing how to read food labels can help you choose healthier options. Use the calorie information to work out how a particular food fits into your daily calorie allowance on the weight loss plan.
Use a smaller plate Using smaller plates can help you eat smaller portions. By using smaller plates and bowls, you may be able to gradually get used to eating smaller portions without going hungry. It takes about 20 minutes for the stomach to tell the brain it’s full, so eat slowly and stop eating before you feel full.
Don’t ban foods Do not ban any foods from your weight loss plan, especially the ones you like. Banning foods will only make you crave them more. There’s no reason you cannot enjoy the occasional treat as long as you stay within your daily calorie allowance.
Don’t stock junk food To avoid temptation, do not stock junk food – such as chocolate, biscuits, crisps and sweet fizzy drinks – at home. Instead, opt for healthy snacks, such as fruit, unsalted rice cakes, oat cakes, unsalted or unsweetened popcorn, and fruit juice.
Cut down on alcohol A standard glass of wine can contain as many calories as a piece of chocolate. Over time, drinking too much can easily contribute to weight gain.
Plan your meals Try to plan your breakfast, lunch, dinner and snacks for the week, making sure you stick to your calorie allowance. You may find it helpful to make a weekly shopping list.
Moyo Odebunmi, a junior running back at Cleveland High and native of Nigeria who had never played varsity football until this season, is quickly adjusting to the speed of the game.
On Thursday night against Arleta, his first three carries resulted in touchdown runs of 68, 85 and 59 yards. He also caught a touchdown and had a 99-yard kickoff return in Cleveland’s 70-37 win. He finished with 303 yards rushing.
Odebunmi, who is 5-foot-7 and 155 pounds, didn’t play football as a freshman, came out last season and learned the game on junior varsity. Now coach Mario Guzman can’t find enough spots to use him.
“We had him all over the field,” Guzman said. “He’s just an athlete we have to have out there.”
Another big contributor for Cleveland was soccer athlete Samael Cerritos, who was 10 for 10 on PATs.

Last fall, indie pop auteur Tei Shi immersed herself in the British Columbia backwoods during a creative retreat — an experience that helped her reclaim artistic control over her decade-long career.
Out Friday, the Canadian Colombian singer shares her most intimate album to date, “Make believe I make believe,” a 10-track record she’s self-releasing through Tei Shi LLC and the Orchard.
“Being back home, reconnecting with family and old friends, and working without any outside voices or pressure — no label, manager, or restrictions — allowed me to fully dive into my mind and emotions,” says Tei Shi in a statement.
The 35-year-old singer-songwriter attended the weeklong retreat in Vancouver Island, Canada, with longtime collaborators Noah Beresin (co-creator of the alternative hip-hop project Chiddy Bang) and Tommy English (the record producer behind many of Børns’ hits).
“The result is a really versatile collection that captures a wide range of feelings and touches on sonics from Canadiana to neo-perreo,” she adds.
Since emerging in the music scene with her breakthrough 2013 debut EP, “Saudade,” and follow-up 2015 EP, “Verde,” Tei Shi — whose real name is Valerie Teicher Barbosa — remains untethered to a genre, ebbing and flowing between dream-pop, indie folk and shoegaze.
Her new, fourth studio album expands on the 2024 LP, “Valerie,” her first independent project, which was released after departing her previous label, Downtown Records (then under Geffen), which left her feeling creatively wounded. With new control of her artistic vision, unfettered by the demands of the mainstream music industry, the move has allowed Tei Shi to release songs in both English and Spanish.
This time around, the artist leans into her multicultural identity, experimenting whimsically with what she has lovingly dubbed Canadianatón — a sonic palette inspired by her upbringing in Vancouver’s mountainous terrain and the melancholic Latin ballads she was raised with.
She digs further into the gritty neo-perreo sound with tantalizing tracks like “222,” featuring Loyal Lobos, and the sticky, synth-laden melody of “Don’t Cry.” In contrast, Tei Shi’s feathery vocals float lightly over a sensual bolero beat in “Aphrodite.”
In the album’s focus track, “Montón,” an upbeat reggaeton track, the artist surrenders herself to the natural motions of love and lust.
“‘Montón’ is a song about falling for someone, crushing hard and giving into it,” says Tei Shi. “I picture it as a late night with your bb, up all night just the two of you in your room, dancing together and tuning out the world.”
It also wouldn’t be a complete Tei Shi album without the thoughtful layering of ethereal beats, most evident in the advance single “Best Be Leaving,” which echoes the essence of legendary dream-pop band Cocteau Twins.
The “Bassically” singer also dropped details on her upcoming U.S. headline tour, which kicks off Sept. 26 in Los Angeles’ Lodge Room. Tei Shi will make a stop in 11 other North American cities, including stops in Washington, D.C., New York, Chicago, Toronto and more.

Former Saturdays singer Frankie Bridge has landed a new ITV role following a reported feud with her co-star Myleene Klass. Frankie, 36, has been involved in a rumoured feud with Myleene and also her former bandmate Rochelle Humes in recent weeks, and ITV reportedly had to step in to ensure the panellists didn’t cross paths.
Frankie has now bagged a new role on ITV and will be appearing as a judge on the upcoming series of ITV’s M&S: Dress The Nation. The singer is known for her style and has regularly shared her fashion outfits and tips online in recent years.

A source revealed to the Daily Star: “Producers think Frankie is perfect for the show because she’s so fashionable.” The Mirror has contacted Frankie’s representatives for comment.
Despite the reported rift between Frankie and the ladies, they appeared to shut down the rumours as Rochelle and Frankie have both been interacting with one another on Instagram and showing their support for one another.
After Frankie shared a glimpse into her holiday, Rochelle liked the post, and vice versa, after Rochelle went on holiday. However, neither of the ladies has interacted online with Myleene and doesn’t even follow her online.

The three Loose Women stars were once thought to be good friends, as Myleene and Frankie attended Rochelle’s hen do back in 2012, however, Rochelle and Frankie have remained friends with Myleene’s ex-husband Graham Quinn.
A source previously said: “Myleene seemed to take that as Frankie taking sides with Graham because of their working relationship.”
It comes as Frankie took to social media to share a cryptic message amid speculation of the rift between herself and Myleene. Frankie posted on TikTok as she enjoyed her latest getaway, and in the clip, she is filmed at a beach resort miming along to Manchild by Sabrina Carpenter.
The video was captioned: “Taking 36 years to realise being a people pleaser doesn’t please anyone.”

She went on: “Fad diets are a waste of time. Turns out it’s all about balance?! Who knew?! Only you can make yourself happy.”
And Frankie added: “You can do the hard thing! You’ve got this.” She then added a red love heart emoji to her post. Fans were quick to agree with her comments, letting their feelings be known on the post.

Nadia shared the health update with fans on her latest YouTube vlog post as she insisted her “awareness” can become “draining”.
The ITV panellist star said: “I’m always worrying that I’ve got some new and dreadful disease.
“Something will pop up on Instagram or my 17 or 21-year-old will share something with me on TikTok or a magazine and I will just obsess.
“It’s a bit like a hot and cold running buffet and I go from one dish to another and the dishes I choose to nibble on the most is dementia, petrifying, I probably today questioned, I’m really not exaggerating, probably 20 to 35 times today… been to Loose Women, been on the train, been on the bus, talked to all sorts of different people, popped into a shop, there wasn’t anything I did today, any interaction or transaction where I didn’t go ‘that was a bit weird, is that dementia?’
“It’s horrendous.
“That’s one of them. Another one breast cancer, another one bowel cancer, if you think about it those are all diseases or illnesses that there’s been fantastic work done on awareness.
“Don’t get me wrong awareness is good, lives are saved because of awareness.
“But I think I’m too aware because there are so often articles ‘don’t miss the early bloody signs’, everything seems an early sign. “
Nadia revealed she has a fears that she will catch Weil’s disease one day – a bacterial infection contracted from the urine of infected rats.
“Sometimes I allow myself to hover over a really rare thing like Weil’s disease, is caused by rats in the water, I never swim in fresh water where there’s rats, but I can literally convince myself it is something I have,” Nadia continued.
Loose Women’s Nadia Sawalha strips topless to celebrate turning 60 – as fans brand her ‘stunning’
“Skin cancer, constantly looking at moles, constantly convincing myself, oh my god, it’s so draining.”
Nadia admitted it’s “exhausting” and “wears her out” on a daily basis.
She said: “It steals the joy of life, I could be having a good time with family and then I’m like ‘I’m going to have that illness soon and I won’t be here’, and I can’t discuss it with my kids because they get mad, they’re terrified.”
Nadia added: “Another thing I get scared of is asbestos, I had a bit of it in the garden, Mark picked it up and put in the bin and I keep thinking he had a bit on him.”
ITV CUTS
Nadia’s health battle comes after she revealed she’s “devastated” after a friend and co-star was axed from the show amid the brutal ITV budget cuts.
Now Nadia has confirmed the huge change and told how it means one of her friends will no longer have a job on the show.
Speaking in a recent YouTune with husband Mark Adderley, she said: “From next year there will be no Loose Women audience.
“I am totally devastated by this fact, I can’t get over it at all. Not only because the audience is so important for the show, but also my dear friend Lee who I work with every day.”
Comedian Lee Peart has been the Loose Women warm-up act since 2017.
An ITV source said: “While there is a proposal to not have a studio audience for Loose Women from 2026, that doesn’t necessarily mean that we’ll never have a studio audience again, it just won’t be in the same way as it is now.
“At this stage we are still exploring new ways of working and producing the show when we move to a new studio next year.”
The shock move came as part of broader budget reductions across the channel, which also included halving Lorraine’s airtime to 30 minutes and airing it only during school term time.

Loose Women has had one off specials before and this week there will be another change to their panel amid ITV cost cutting exercises
How the Loose Doctors panel will line up on Wednesday(Image: ITV)
Loose Women will change up their panel for the first-ever Loose Doctors special on Wednesday.
Dr Amir Khan, Dr Zoe Williams, Dr Hilary Jones and Dr Nighat Arif will examine the health issues that matter most to viewers and explain how we can all improve our own wellbeing.
Ahead of the episode, Dr Amir, who often works on Good Morning Britain, said: “This is the first time four of ITV’s Daytime doctors will be on the panel together to look at the health issues that affect us all.
“We’ll be sharing our expert medical advice and having some very candid conversations about the things that our patients are often too embarrassed to talk about, but shouldn’t be, and hopefully giving them the confidence to make the most of their appointments. I’m really looking forward to the episode and hope that viewers will enjoy it, as well as learning some important and potentially life saving tips too.”
This Morning star Dr Nighat added: “I couldn’t be happier sharing a panel with some dear colleagues and friends for this special episode. We will be opening up on some of our own heartfelt health stories and having a number of important conversations about how viewers can look after themselves, as well as sharing our top self-examination tips.
“As doctors, we are also humans and hope that by sharing a little part of our own lives, our patients and viewers know that they’re not alone and sometimes, we’re going through similar things to them.”
The special follows on from other one-off versions of the programme including Loose Men panels on International Men’s Day.
Dr Zoe said: “I’m so excited for this episode of Loose Doctors. While the four of us know each other well, we’ll be sharing some of our own stories and experiences, just as our patients bravely share theirs with us. We hope this offers viewers the chance to get to know us better and helps people feel more comfortable opening up. We’re going to be tackling some of the taboo topics people might not always want to discuss, to empower you to feel confident in understanding and checking your own body, and knowing when to seek help.”
And Dr Hilary, well known for working with Lorraine Kelly on screen, said: “I think viewers are going to love the first-ever Loose Doctors episode.
“You’ll see four of ITV’s Daytime doctors open up about their personal journeys whilst offering some of our tips to look after you and your family. I hope that viewers will learn a lot and be entertained at the same time as we open the Loose Doctors doors for the first time.”
Loose Women has been on ITV since 1999 and normally sees a rotating panel comprised of women discussing issues from a their perspectives, from politics and current affairs to all the latest gossip.
It is one of a number of daytime shows at ITV facing cuts and the daytime panel show will be down to 30 weeks a year in 2026.
It means some of the panelists are likely to lose their jobs.
* Loose Doctors airs on Wednesday 6th August, from 12:30pm on ITV1, ITVX, STV and STV Player.

His family are being supported by specially trained officers.

“This incident will have shocked the community and distressed anyone who witnessed it, but we believe this was a targeted attack with no wider threat.
“We have several scenes in place with the investigation ongoing in order to identify and apprehend the offenders responsible.
“There will be officers in the area today and in the coming days as we are determined to bring the family the answers they deserve.”
Coleen Nolan has shared some of her most special moments with her fans over the past month and she has admitted that she is ‘beaming with pride’ after a family milestone
Coleen had some great news to share with her followers(Image: ITV)
Coleen Nolan recently dazzled her fans by posting some stunning snaps while celebrating her son’s nuptials.
The Loose Women star has had a joyous month filled with memorable family occasions, including a wedding and a gender reveal bash as she anticipates becoming a grandmother once more.
The popular ITV personality keeps her followers in the loop through her social media channels and even her YouTube channel, where she divulges details of her life away from the spotlight. Coleen is mum to two lads, Shane and Jake, and her daughter Ciara.
Her firstborn Shane is father to little Amelia, born in 2016, whilst Jake welcomed a son of his own in November 2024.
Donned in an eye-catching green and white ensemble with a matching fascinator and handbag for the wedding day, Coleen expressed her joy: “Yesterday my baby boy Jake married his beautiful wife Georgia. Hand on heart one of the best days of my life, watching my boy marry the love of his life, surrounded by all their family and closest friends.”
She reflected on the special day in a heartfelt video posted on July 7, expressing her overwhelming pride: “There really isn’t a way to express how you feel watching your baby boy walk down the aisle and marry the love of his life, and it was possibly one of the best days of my life, I am beaming with pride”, reports the Liverpool Echo.
Coleen announced that she is set to become a grandmother for the third time(Image: ITV)
In addition to her wedding, Coleen has been showered with support after sharing more family news recently. She announced this month that she is expecting her third grandchild, as her daughter Ciara is pregnant.
She quickly followed this up with more exciting news: her eldest son, Shane Nolan, is also expecting a child with his partner Kim. This will be Shane’s second child, as he is already a proud father to a daughter named Amelia, born in 2016. Jake, Coleen’s other son, is also a father.
Following Ciara’s pregnancy announcement last week, Coleen shared her plans to create a nursery in her home for her grandchildren to visit and stay.
It’s been a particularly special few months for Coleen, who celebrated her own milestone when she turned 60 in March. To commemorate the occasion, her Loose Women co-stars Kaye Adams, Jane Moore, and Judi Love arranged a surprise reunion with her friends and three children in the studio.
Coleen also recently celebrated her 60th birthday on Loose Women(Image: Ken McKay/ITV/REX/Shutterstock)
The surprise proved too much for Coleen, who was moved to tears and confessed that the reunion was ‘too emotional’. Upon entering the studio, Coleen was blindfolded just moments before being surprised by her sons Jake Roche, Shane Nolan, and daughter Ciara Fensome.
The presenter was overwhelmed with emotion as she expressed her delight at having all her children together in the studio for the first time, tearfully rushing to embrace them and asking, “Oh my God! Is this why I’ve been kept prisoner all day?”
Coleen added: “So far, I’ve had the worst day of my life. They literally locked me in the dressing room. This was a genuine surprise. Gosh it’s too emotional.”
Reflecting on her milestone birthday, Coleen shared: “I feel great about turning 60. I still feel age is just a number and in my head I am 21/22 and in my body I’m 70 but we will ignore that.”
Loose Women is among ITV’s daytime shows that are facing budget cuts in the coming months as insiders warn the show will be completely stripped back from its usual setup
Loose Women is facing major changes as ITV scramble to recoup costs
Loose Women is facing its biggest shake-up in decades, with dramatic changes that have left fans and cast members reeling as insiders fear the ITV favourite could be axed altogether within the next year.
The iconic lunchtime chat show, known for its bold debates and A-list guests, is expected to cut celebrity interviews completely from January as part of sweeping budget cuts across ITV Daytime. The move comes just months after bosses announced the show would only air for 30 weeks of the year rather than its usual 52, slashing production time nearly in half.
Now, with viewing figures predicted to tumble even further, sources claim Loose Women is “on borrowed time” as ITV pivots its focus to sister shows Lorraine and This Morning.
“It’s a real shame. In January, the programme will become a shell of its former self before it is inevitably cancelled altogether,” one TV insider told Mail Online.
No more celebrity guests
Over its 25 year history, Loose Women has welcomed some of the world’s biggest stars to the panel – from Naomi Campbell and Janet Jackson to Dame Joan Collins and even former Prime Minister Rishi Sunak.
But sources claim the show will no longer feature famous faces promoting their projects because there won’t be enough staff to manage guests behind the scenes.
Instead, those high-profile bookings will now reportedly be prioritised for Lorraine and This Morning, leaving Loose Women to rely solely on its panel discussions of the day’s news and lifestyle topics.
“Not having guests is a big blow for both the presenters and viewers at home,” an insider revealed.
“The celebrity interviews are often one of the highlights of the show and bring a unique energy you don’t get on other programmes. It feels like a strange decision to cut them altogether.”
Behind the scenes, the panel – including long-serving stars like Nadia Sawalha, Ruth Langsford and Coleen Nolan – are said to be “deeply upset” by the changes.
Studio audience scrapped
The cuts don’t stop there. Loose Women has already axed its live studio audience, a move that has left both the panel and crew heartbroken.
Nadia Sawalha admitted she was “totally devastated” at the loss of the audience and spoke out in support of her close friend and warm-up artist Lee Peart, who lost his job as a result.
“The audience is so important for the show,” Nadia said. “What a lot of people don’t realise is that we’re self-employed. Every contract is a new contract – I could be let go tomorrow or in five years. It’s brutal.”
She added: “Hundreds of people are going to be made redundant out of the blue. A lot of my friends and colleagues on this show and at ITV have been there for decades, and I can’t tell you how upsetting it was to see people walking around numb with shock and fear about what they were going to do.”
Reason behind changes
ITV bosses have blamed “insane inflation” and rising costs for the daytime cuts, which have also seen Lorraine halved to 30 minutes and reduced to term-time broadcasts.
In May, ITV confirmed that production of Good Morning Britain will shift to a dedicated team at ITV News, while Loose Women, Lorraine, and This Morning will merge behind-the-scenes teams to save costs.
But industry insiders warn that these measures will likely spell the end for Loose Women.
An ITV spokesperson said: “The Loose Women team is still working on the show and its content for next year.”
Loose Women was pulled off air for the rest of the week as host Christine Lampard made an announcement at the end of the ITV show
15:00, 09 Jul 2025Updated 15:04, 09 Jul 2025
Loose Women star Christine Lampard dropped a significant update at the end of the programme.
On Wednesday’s (July 9) episode of the popular ITV show, Christine joined panellists Coleen Nolan, Jane Moore, and Mariella Frostrup to discuss current affairs from the UK and beyond.
Yet, as the live show wrapped up, Christine delivered a key announcement about changes to the show’s schedule for the week.
The presenter announced to the audience and viewers at home that Loose Women would be taking a brief hiatus to accommodate ITV Racing: Live from Newmarket.
Christine made the unexpected revelation, stating: “That’s all we’ve got time for today and indeed the rest of the week because the racing is on.”, reports Belfast Live.
Christine Lampard made a major announcement at the end of Loose Women(Image: ITV)
She then hinted at what fans can look forward to when Loose Women returns to our screens next week, adding: “But we’ve got some great stuff coming up for you including a catch up with Coleen’s brother Brian.
“Big Brother legend Brian Dowling and we’ll be celebrating Janet Street Porter 50 years on our screens, can you believe that? We’ll see you soon.”
Loose Women is set to make its comeback next Monday, July 14, at its regular slot of 12.30pm.
This follows an emotional moment on Tuesday’s (July 8) show where Denise Welch expressed her desire to “re-do” her son Matty Healy’s upbringing.
Denise Welch became emotional as she admitted she wishes she could re-do Matty Healy’s childhood(Image: ITV)
The 67 year old television personality has previously been candid about her struggles with addiction in her youth, and made the decision to become sober 13 years ago.
During a heartfelt conversation about living in the present, Denise was visibly moved as she admitted: “When you do reflect you have to forgive yourself for realising… I always get emotional because I wish that I could re-do bits of particularly Matty’s (Healy) childhood, because I was coping with addictions and self-medication..”
Tears welled up as Nadia consoled her, praising Denise as “the most proud, present mum”, prompting Denise to reply: “Matty and I talk about it, and we’re so close I just wish I could do it again”.
As Christine brought up Matty’s success headlining Glastonbury with his band The 1975, Denise expressed: “I’m incredibly proud, it’s just when I look at things, why couldn’t I? You know..”
Loose Women airs weekdays from 12.30pm on ITV1 and ITVX
