Kenny Loggins slams Donald Trump for using his ‘Top Gun’ song ‘Danger Zone’ in AI feces video

Kenny Loggins has reacted to Donald Trump using his song ‘Danger Zone’ in the president’s “disgusting” AI-generated video showing himself wearing a crown, flying a “KING TRUMP” fighter jet and bombing a crowd of protesters with feces.

The video was published as a response to the historic No Kings” protests which took place across the US on Saturday.

The American singer-songwriter recorded the hit song for the soundtrack of the 1986 Tom Cruise movie Top Gun. He has now called for Trump’s video to be taken down on copyright grounds.

In a statement to Variety, Loggins said: “This is an unauthorized use of my performance of ‘Danger Zone.’ Nobody asked me for my permission, which I would have denied, and I request that my recording on this video is removed immediately.”

He continued: “I can’t imagine why anybody would want their music used or associated with something created with the sole purpose of dividing us. Too many people are trying to tear us apart, and we need to find new ways to come together.”

“We’re all Americans, and we’re all patriotic. There is no ‘us and them’ — that’s not who we are, nor is it what we should be. It’s all of us. We’re in this together, and it is my hope that we can embrace music as a way of celebrating and uniting each and every one of us.”

Well put – especially considering the video has provoked widespread outrage online, with many expressing dismay over the way it shows Trump’s clear disdain for people exercising their right to protest.

Social media users accused Trump of having “the maturity and decorum of a 12-year-old boy”, while others commented: “Can’t believe that’s a president of a country.”

Many posts also pointed out that Trump’s “childish” and “disgusting” AI post revealed a transparent representation of his genuine feelings toward the American people. “It tells you everything you need to know about what he thinks about the people of America who are, in fact, America,” one person commented, while another added: “Him taking a dump on the country is the most honest thing he’s ever posted.”

This is far from the first time that Trump and his administration have used artists’ work without authorisation.

There is an extensive list of musicians who have objected to Trump’s authorized use of their songs. These include ABBA, The Rolling Stones, Bruce Springsteen, Rihanna, Neil Young, R.E.M., Woodkid, Beyoncé and Semisonic.

Sinead O’Connor’s estate previously issued Trump with cease-and-desist orders, while Isaac Hayes’ estate sued him for 134 counts of copywright infringement.

Céline Dion also condemned the use of her song from the Oscar-winning film Titanic, ‘My Heart Will Go On’, which was used at one of Trump’s rallies. Dion’s team questioned the song choice, writing: “And really, THAT song?”

Another band which added their name to the ever-growing list of artists who have sued Trump over the illegal use of their songs in campaign videos was The White Stripes. Last year, the rock band highlighted the “flagrant misappropriation” of their hit song ‘Seven Nation Army’. Jack White captioned a copy of the legal complaint in an Instagram post with: “This machine sues fascists.”

The most recent example to date is Metallica, who forced the US government to withdraw a social media video that used their song ‘Enter Sandman’ without authorisation.

This weekend’s “No Kings” protests saw millions of Americans marching against Trump’s administration, opposing the president’s “authoritarian power grab.”

The 18 October protest, the third mass mobilisation since Trump’s return to the White House, drew nearly 7 million people across all 50 states according to organisers. This figure would make it the largest single-day mobilisation against a US president in modern history.

Noah Lyles shoved by Kenny Bednarek at U.S. nationals 200 win

Track turned into a contact sport Sunday when Kenny Bednarek shoved Noah Lyles after Lyles beat him to the finish line in the 200-meter final at U.S. championships.

Lyles reeled in Bednarek in the homestretch to win in 19.63 seconds.

As he was crossing the finish line, Lyles turned to Bednarek in the lane next to him and started jawing at him. A few steps after they crossed, Bednarek reached out and gave Lyles a two-handed shove.

Lyles turned around, backpedaled and reached his arms out, then kept jawing at Bednarek. Their argument continued into the start of the NBC interview.

“I tell ya, if you’ve got a problem, I expect a call,” Bednarek said.

Lyles replied: “You know what, you’re right. You’re right. Let’s talk after this.”

Asked by the network’s Lewis Johnson what happened, Bednarek said: “I’m not going to say it out here, but we got something to do and talk about.”

The next chapter figures to play out Sept. 19 in Japan, where they’ll be among the favorites in the 200-meter final. Lyles is trying to match Usain Bolt with four straight world titles in his best race.

Lyles had a slow start to a season that has featured Bednarek opening as the dominant sprinter of 2025. Bednarek won the 100 meters Friday and also beat Lyles at the Olympics last year, finishing second in a race in which Lyles won bronze while suffering with COVID-19.

“It was a pretty difficult championship,” Lyles said. “I’ve been tired. It’s been rough. Coming out here when you’re not 100% and being able to say, ‘I still got to give my all no matter what happens.’ That’s tough. That’s tough.”

Melissa Jefferson-Wooden won the 200 in a personal-best time of 21.84 seconds, while Olympic champion Gabby Thomas had to wait a few anxious moments to see if she earned a spot on the world team. She did as her named popped up in third place.

It was a winning weekend for Jefferson-Wooden, who also captured the 100 on Friday. She will be joined in the 100 at worlds by Sha’Carri Richardson, who has an automatic spot as the defending champion. Richardson didn’t advance to the final in the 200.

The women’s 400 hurdles was wide open with Olympic champion and world-record holder Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone electing to focus on the open 400 (she won the event Saturday ). Dalilah Muhammad, 35, took control and cruised to the win.

One of the afternoon’s most exciting finishes was in the men’s 800 meters, where 2019 world champion Donavan Brazier used a strong kick to hold off 16-year-old Cooper Lutkenhaus and Bryce Hoppel.

‘Love Island’s’ JaNa Craig, Kenny Rodriguez breakup

JaNa Craig and Kenny Rodriguez have gone from “Love Island” to Splitsville.

The pair of reality TV stars who kindled a romance last year on “Love Island” Season 6 have called it quits, The Times confirmed Monday. Craig broke up with Rodriguez on Sunday, a day after they were among the guests at YouTube star David Dobrik‘s birthday party.

“They will not be getting back together,” a source confirmed to People.

A representative for Craig declined to comment. The Times did not immediately hear back from Rodriguez.

Though Craig and Rodriguez fell short of winning their season last year (fellow contestants Kordell Beckham and Serena Page took the prize), the pair continued their relationship off-screen. Craig opened up about her relationship with Rodriguez to People in October 2024, telling the magazine that time away from the cameras meant “we can take our time.”

“We always forgot that there was cameras anyways so nothing’s really changed,” she said at the time.

Craig and Rodriguez’s relationship came back into the “Love Island” spotlight earlier this month for Peacock’s “Love Island: Beyond the Villa.” The series, which premiered July 13, follows the Season 6 contestants “as they navigate new careers, evolving friendships, newfound fame, and complex relationships,” according to a press release for the show.

Right before the premiere of “Love Island: Beyond the Villa,” fans bid farewell to “Love Island” Season 7 — which was notably marred by controversy. Two contestants — Yulissa Escobar and Cierra Ortega — left the series weeks apart after they came under fire for their off-air use of racial slurs.

The season ended with contestants Amaya Espinal and Bryan Arenales taking home the $100,000 grand prize.

Karen Pirie star Emer Kenny married to huge TV presenter with toddler son

Karen Pirie is back and she’s set for a whirlwind – but off-screen, things were just as intense for series creator Emer Kenny, who couldn’t rely on her famous (and busy) husband.

Karen Pirie’s second season is packed with intense drama and explosive bombshells – but things were just as intense behind the scenes. Series creator Emer Kenny juggled triple duties as writer, executive producer and cast member as Karen’s best friend River… while also being a new mum.

“Filming was hectic,” she says, “My baby was 12 weeks old when I started writing the season and he was 18 months old when we were shooting. He came to Glasgow with me for three months.”

Emer had a secret weapon, but it wasn’t her husband, presenter Rick Edwards. “I wouldn’t have been able to do it without my mum,” she says. “My husband was away working in Germany at the Euros because he’s a presenter, so I had my mum with me at all times.”

Kylie Minogue helped too, making a daunting experience a delight: “Kylie has her own brand of rose that we drank the whole way through. It was absolutely crazy but I never feel more alive than when we’re making stuff. It just feels thrilling.”

Lauren Lyle returns to the ITV crime drama as the sharp, scrappy Scottish detective in the second season of Karen Pirie, and DI Karen’s ready to ruffle a few feathers.

Freshly promoted – albeit reluctantly – she’s still got everything to prove. “She’s determined to prove herself,” Lauren says. “Even though she’s been promoted, she’s still doubted.

It’s a reluctant promotion. Where her boss says, ‘You’re difficult but you’re great so you deserve it.’ That’s what drives her. There’s a general frustration with men being in her way and having to listen to them.”

Karen Pirie investigates the case of Catriona Grant this season - a young mother who was kidnapped at gunpoint with her toddler son

The TV adaptation of Val McDermid’s best-selling novel series was a hit during its first season. So it’s no surprise that Emer also felt the pressure.

“It was a little daunting,” she says, “Season one was my first time writing a show. Coming back, you really hope you can match the energy and bring another good story. So I was a little daunted but the book has a really exciting story.”

Based on A Darker Domain, the second novel in the Karen Pirie series, the new season dives into a case that’s haunted the nation for decades: the 1984 disappearance of heiress Catriona Grant and her toddler son, Adam.

“She’s kidnapped at gunpoint, and then a ransom note arrives at her family home with a polaroid of her, and she is never seen again,” teases Emer. “There’s never a handover. No other ransom note was received.” Until now.

When a body is found in a remote quarry, it blows the case wide open. But it’s not Catriona. “It’s a man,” says Emer, “But her car key is in his pocket.”

As the investigation unfolds, so do the secrets – including Catriona’s steamy, hidden affair with Mick, played by The Last Kingdom’s Mark Rowley.

“Julia (Brown) and Mark were amazing together,” Emer says, “When I got their auditions in, I knew it would work. It was really important that their love story felt romantic and real.”

But Catriona isn’t the only one getting her heart tangled this season. Karen’s own love life heats up with DS Phil Parhatka, played by Zach Wyatt, but she’s keeping it strictly under wraps.

“Karen’s under the impression a woman can only have one of the other – a career or a home life,” Lauren says. “Phil’s a good, smart man who’s willing to support her, but Karen thinks she has to choose her career to keep getting ahead. Her career gives her a sense of worth, but it can damage her love life.”

But the cold case earns her more attention and Karen struggles to keep the balance. “No one at work knows they’re together and she wants to keep it that way,” Emer says. “But there’s a whole new level of public interest. This is an even bigger case than the first one so she has a lot of eyes on her.”

If the stakes are higher, the humour’s sharper too – something inspired by Miss Congeniality. “Lauren and I always talk about Sandra Bullock’s character in that film as a big touchstone. We love her humour and her no-nonsense personality,” Emer says.

Other icons helped shape Karen’s DNA: Helen Mirren’s steely Jane Tennison in Prime Suspect, Kate Winslet’s bruised brilliance in Mare of Easttown and Toni Collette’s grit in Unbelievable.

Season two took the cast from gritty Glasgow streets to the sun-drenched chaos of Malta. “We had to move the shoot to September because it was too hot in Malta to shoot,” Emer remembers.

“We had tons of running scenes through the streets of Malta in 40 degree heat. But I think they loved it. I think they loved having their inner James Bond moments.”

Audiences clearly love it too and with eight novels in the series (and counting), there’s no shortage of source material. “There is potential for another season and ITV are really supportive,” Emer says. “It just depends on whether the audience wants more.” But for now, Karen is here to stay – and she’s fiercer than ever.

Vera star Kenny Doughty’s life from Coronation Street to his famous co-star wife

Kenny Doughty was a well-known face on ITV as he starred in Vera as DS Aiden Healy for 10 years before his exit from the show and he also had a short-lived role in Corrie

Actor Kenny Doughty, who stole hearts as DS Aiden Healy in ITV’s hit crime drama Vera alongside Brenda Blethyn’s DCI Vera Stanhope, has bid farewell to the show that made him a household name.

Having joined forces with the Northumberland and City Police back in 2014 and dedicating a whole decade to aiding on-screen crime solving, Kenny announced he would be leaving the role of Aiden.

Although he remained tight-lipped about the reasons for leaving initially, earlier this year, in an emotional revelation to The i Paper, he disclosed it was all due to his stepdad’s terminal cancer diagnosis.

Kenny paid a heartfelt tribute: “Steve was a glorious, delightful man,” expressing his deep admiration, “I was proud to refer to him as my ‘dad’, not my stepfather.”

Moreover, he fondly recalled Steve’s influence on his life, crediting him for teaching valuable lessons.

“He was a lecturer in agriculture when he met my mum, and he taught me how to be a better man,” Kenny’s final months with his stepdad were both poignant and personal, involving a hands-on project of building a wooden house together in Ireland.

“It was a no-brainer, choosing to quit work and spend those last six months with him. We built a wooden house together by their home in Ireland and he taught me about wood, joinery, carpentry,” Kenny shared, encapsulating the irreplaceable time they spent together, reports Devon Live.

Vera itself concluded with its last episode in April 2025 following Brenda Blethyn’s departure.

Kenny was born in Barnsley and raised by his single mother, who pursued education after parting ways with his father when Kenny was still young. After earning a BA in English literature, she became a successful businesswoman and provided mentorship for community members.

Kenny initiated his acting career with small parts in films such as I Want You and Elizabeth, Heartbeat and the comedy series Dinnerladies.

He has featured in numerous popular television programmes; however, his role as Sean in the Sky series Stella in 2012 brought him more fame.

Kenny’s Corrie role

Soap fans will recall Kenny as builder Jake Harman in Coronation Street back in 2009.

Jake was introduced to the cobbles when local businessman Dev Alahan (Jimmi Harkishin) employed him to repair a roof. In a comical scene, he falls from a ladder and ends up hanging outside Michelle Connor’s (Kym Marsh) bathroom window.

After assisting Jake to safety, Michelle accidentally dropped her towel and he planted a kiss on her. A displeased Michelle dismissed him and reported Jake to the police for stalking before they briefly dated.

Kenny has also appeared in some of television’s most popular series including Heartbeat, Stella, Wire in the Blood, Casualty, and more.

In 2013, the actor played Gaz in a UK tour and the West End production of Simon Beaufoy’s stage play The Full Monty.

This year, Kenny made a comeback to prime time television in Channel 5 drama The Au Pair, where he portrayed the character Chris for four episodes.

Kenny’s famous wife

Kenny has found love again with well-known actress Ashley Jensen, 55, acclaimed for her appearances in Extras, Shetland, and Agatha Raisin. He’s taken on the role of stepfather to Ashley’s teenage lad, Frankie.

The two actors joined forces onscreen for the BBC One drama Love, Lies, and Records back in 2017.

Hailing from Scotland, Ashley portrayed Kate Dickenson in the esteemed drama series, with Kenny stepping into the shoes of the character Rick Severs.

Their budding romance blossomed a few years following the tragic passing of Ashley’s spouse, Terence Beesley, whose credits included The Bill, EastEnders, Heartbeat, and Midsomer Murders. Ashley and Terence’s decade-long marriage was blessed with a son, Francis.

In an intimate reveal to The i Paper, Kenny shared his views on parenting, saying: “I don’t see much difference between being a step-parent and a parent,” and “You’re parenting either way. You want the best for your child. I adore Frankie as if he was my son.”

Previously, Kenny was hitched to fellow actress Caroline Carver, whom he starred with both in Holby City and the poignant 2004 film The Aryan Couple.
