Feds threaten SJSU funding as transgender athlete feud escalates

The U.S. Department of Education’s Office for Civil Rights set a deadline Tuesday that sounds much like two earlier deadlines, giving San José State University 10 days to comply with a list of athletics-related demands or face enforcement action, including the termination of the university’s federal funding.

This is the third 10-day deadline issued by the OCR to SJSU, the first in January and the second having expired last weekend. All three concern the same case, that of a transgender woman who played on the school’s women’s volleyball team from 2022 to 2024.

A federal investigation was launched in February 2025 after controversy over Blaire Fleming disrupted the 2024 volleyball season. Four Mountain West Conference teams — Boise State, Wyoming, Utah State and Nevada-Reno — chose to forfeit matches to SJSU.

The probe concluded that SJSU’s policies “allowing males to compete in women’s sports and access female-only facilities deny women equal educational opportunities and benefits.”

SJSU pushed back, insisting it followed the law in allowing Fleming to play. SJSU president Cynthia Teniente-Matson wrote in a March 6 letter to the campus community that the university “vigorously disputes the conclusions that OCR reached. … Our position is simple: We have followed the law and cannot be punished for doing so.”

SJSU requested that the OCR rescind its findings and close its investigation. Instead, the federal agency redoubled its efforts, with the latest salvo a “letter of impending enforcement” issued Tuesday and accompanied by a statement from U.S. Assistant Secretary for Civil Rights Kimberly Richey.

“We have provided SJSU with multiple opportunities to resolve its Title IX violations with common sense actions: separating male and female athletes based on their biological sex, keeping men out of women’s locker rooms and bathrooms, restoring rightfully earned titles and accolades to female athletes, and apologizing to the women forced to forfeit competitions to protect themselves,” Richey said. “Yet, SJSU remains obstinate, choosing a radical ideology over safety, dignity, and fairness for its own students.

“With today’s action, the Department is putting the university on notice: comply with the law or risk losing its federal funding.”

SJSU enlisted the support of the California State University system, which sued the Department of Education on March 6 to challenge its allegedly “lawless overreach” and block the federal government from cutting funding to SJSU if the school does not agree to a proposed itemized resolution agreement.

“Whether and under what conditions transgender women should be allowed to compete in women’s athletics has been hotly contested,” the CSU lawsuit said. “But this case is not about that issue. It is about the Department’s attempt to punish SJSU, even though the law in the Ninth Circuit has been and is clear. Under Ninth Circuit law, Title IX and the Equal Protection Clause protect transgender students from discrimination.”

Suing the Education Department “is not a step we take lightly,” Teniente-Matson said. “However, we have a responsibility to defend the integrity of our institution and the rule of law, while ensuring that every member of our community is treated fairly and in accordance with the law.”

An estimated two-thirds of SJSU students receive federal financial aid totaling about $130 million annually, according to Cal State University. Losing federal funds could also disrupt $175 million in research.

The Office of Civil Rights’ proposed resolution agreement, which SJSU dismissed out of hand, contains the following demands:

1) Issue a public statement that SJSU will adopt biology-based definitions of the words “male” and “female” and acknowledge that the sex of a human — male or female — is unchangeable.

2) Specify that SJSU will follow Title IX by separating sports and intimate facilities based on biological sex.

3) State that SJSU will not delegate its obligation to comply with Title IX to any external association or entity and will not contract with any entity that discriminates on the basis of sex.

4) Restore to female athletes all individual athletic records and titles misappropriated by male athletes competing in women’s categories, and issue a personalized letter of apology on behalf of SJSU to each female athlete for allowing her participation in athletics to be marred by sex discrimination.

5) Send a personalized apology to every woman who played in SJSU’s women’s indoor volleyball from 2022 to 2024, beach volleyball in 2023, and to any woman on a team that forfeited rather than compete against SJSU while a male student was on the roster — expressing sincere regret for placing female athletes in that position.

In a related lawsuit, a Colorado district judge this month deferred ruling on motions to dismiss former SJSU volleyball player Brooke Slusser’s lawsuit against the California State University system. Slusser alleged that she was made to share bedrooms and changing spaces with Fleming without being informed that Fleming is transgender.

Judge Kato Crews dismissed the Mountain West Conference as a defendant but said he wants to put the rest of the case on hold until after a Supreme Court ruling in B.P.J. v. West Virginia, which is expected to come in June.

The B.P.J. case went to the Supreme Court after a transgender teen sued West Virginia to block a state law that prevents males from competing in girls’ high school sports.

Bush Family’s Feud Heats Up With Clinton

George W. Bush and his campaign have enjoyed remarkable success synchronizing the message from everyone at the Republican National Convention this week.

Except his parents.

After maintaining a low profile all year, former President Bush and former First Lady Barbara Bush have been drawn into a pointed war of words with President Clinton–the man who ousted the elder Bush from the White House in 1992.

The confrontation, which escalated when Barbara Bush criticized Vice President Al Gore on Wednesday, worries many Republicans, who fear it will both distract from the convention’s velvet-glove feel and reinforce questions about whether the younger Bush would be this close to the presidency if his name was Smith.

“It plays into [the Democrats’] hands,” complained one Bush campaign insider about the feud. “It’s what they want: a distraction from a perfect convention.”

Indeed, Democrats have welcomed the controversy. “It reminds everybody . . . that Bush thinks the presidency is an office you can inherit,” said Democratic National Committee Chairman Joe Andrew on Wednesday.

Karl Rove, Bush’s chief strategist, rejected the notion that the Bush family-Clinton tiff was interfering with the convention’s carefully scripted message of moderation and civility. “I think what’s more important . . . is that the vice president is such a weak candidate that he’s forced to rely upon a constant barrage of attacks launched by President Clinton,” Rove said. “I think people see it as inappropriate and it paints a picture of Al Gore as a weak candidate and a weak leader.”

She’s Skeptical Gore Can Restore Respect

Barbara Bush added fuel to the flap when, with her husband Wednesday on ABC-TV’s “Good Morning America,” she first inferred that Clinton had brought disrespect to the presidency, then said she was skeptical Gore could return respect to the office. “It would be very difficult, I think, with some of the things he’s done,” she said.

She did not elaborate.

The multi-generational battle–which before Barbara Bush’s comments had seen Clinton criticize the younger Bush and both the younger and elder Bush criticize Clinton–underscores the unique circumstance of this campaign. Only once before in American history has a president’s son also won the office. And that man, John Quincy Adams, ran 24 years after the term of his father, John Adams, had ended, long enough for the passions of his presidency to cool.

In contrast, the younger Bush is running at a time when the wounds of his father’s defeat are still open, especially among Republican activists who viewed Clinton as morally unfit for the office even before the Monica S. Lewinsky scandal.

But in both public and private, George W. Bush has always emphatically rejected suggestions that he has sought the White House to avenge his father’s defeat. And for most of the campaign, the younger Bush has been extremely sensitive to avoid the impression his presidency would amount to a restoration of his father’s.

Bush, for instance, hasn’t campaigned with his father since the former president referred to him at a New Hampshire rally as “this boy . . . of ours.”

Media Stir Debate on Father’s Influence

That arms-length relationship began to break down last week, when Bush selected Dick Cheney as his running mate. As Defense secretary, Cheney had been an architect of the Persian Gulf War that marked the greatest triumph of the elder Bush’s presidency. And President Bush’s apparent backstage support for Cheney inspired a new wave of media discussion about his influence on his son’s campaign.

Clinton stirred the pot Friday at a Democratic fund-raiser in Rhode Island, where he suggested that Bush was running for president on minimal qualifications. Speaking as if he were Bush, Clinton said derisively, “I mean, how bad could I be? I’ve been governor of Texas; my daddy was president; I own a baseball team.”

Democratic insiders say Clinton may have turned on Bush in response to Bush’s own barbed comments that day on his inaugural campaign swing with Cheney. Bush described his running mate as “a solid man . . . a man who understands what the definition of ‘is’ is.” That was a reference to an often-ridiculed answer from Clinton during his 1998 grand jury testimony in the Lewinsky scandal.

Whatever the cause, Clinton’s comments drew sharp retorts from both the younger and elder Bush. The former president told NBC earlier this week: “I’ll tell you what I’m going to do. I’m going to wait a month. And then, you give a call. . . . And if he continues that, then I’m going to tell the nation what I think about him as a human being and a person.”

Since then, the elder Bush has studiously avoided further comments; he told Fox News on Wednesday that his son “probably wished I kept my mouth shut, but I haven’t heard from him yet.”

Some Bush campaign officials say the former president’s high personal popularity–recent polls found about two-thirds of Americans now have a favorable opinion of him–means there’s little risk in his increased visibility over the last few weeks. In any case, one senior Bush aide said that after this week, the parents will quickly recede into the background again.

Elton John made Brooklyn Beckham VIP guest at his Oscars party in public show of support for his godson amid family feud

BROOKLYN Beckham was offered a public show of support by Sir Elton John — who made him a VIP guest at his Oscars party.

The 27-year-old, locked in a family feud, was seen at the bash alongside wife Nicola Peltz deep in conversation with the singer, 78.

We revealed last year that the I’m Still Standing singer has been acting as a peacemaker between Brooklyn and estranged parents David and Victoria.

And the VIP invitation to Sir Elton’s Academy Awards viewing party in West Hollywood on Sunday night showed his continued love and support for his godson.

A source said: “Elton has seen Brooklyn all adrift without his biological family and he’s stepped up for Brooklyn.

“Inviting him and Nicola to the party was a public show of support for him.

Brooklyn snubs Posh on Mother’s Day & posts gushing tribute to wife’s mum

“Elton doesn’t want to get involved in the row — as far as he’s concerned that’s between Brooklyn, David and Victoria.

“But he has been watching everything that has unfolded over the past ten months.

“Brooklyn lives in Los Angeles and when Elton is in town, he’ll often touch base with him.

“Brooklyn knows he has Elton’s ear and support.”

Brooklyn and US actress Nicola, 31, were among a string of celebs at the Elton John Aids Foundation bash, co-hosted by the singer and his husband, David Furnish.

They were photographed with Sharon Osbourne and her I’m a Celebrity star son Jack, while singer Dua Lipa and her actor fiancé Callum Turner were also there.

A source added: “Brooklyn and Nicola had a fantastic time with Elton and David.

“He just wants to move on with his life and is happy to have the support of Elton and David, who have always looked out for him.”

Sir Elton, who has two sons Zachary and Elijah with his hubby, has been very close friends with Posh and Becks for several years.

They asked the singer to be godfather to their first-born son Brooklyn in 1999, and they did the same with Romeo three years later.

Former Spice Girl Victoria was also a guest at Sir Elton’s Oscars party in 2009.

But they have not been pictured together in public since August 2019, when the Beckhams joined Sir Elton and David on a yacht during a holiday in the South of France.

Victoria posted pictures of their trip on Instagram with the caption: “Happy Summer with friends. Kisses @davidfurnish @eltonjohn. We love u both and your boys so much.”

In May 2023, David and Victoria supported Elton on the final night of his Farewell Yellow Brick Road tour and shared videos and photographs from a box at London’s O2 Arena.

Last summer The Sun revealed that Sir Elton had reached out to Brooklyn and Nicola amid their family feud — and invited them to lunch to talk in the South of France.

A source said at the time: “Elton wants everyone to be happy.

“There is no side-taking as such; he simply adores his godson, and really has a laugh with Nicola who he thinks has a great sense of humour.

“He wants to look after them in his role as ‘spiritual adviser’ as a godfather.

“It’s a role he takes seriously.”

We revealed yesterday that Brooklyn snubbed Victoria on Mother’s Day — while posting a birthday message to “the best mother-in-law”.

He told Nicola’s mum, Claudia, “Love u so much”, as she turned 71.

Amber Davies breaks silence with sharp statement amid ‘feud’ with Legally Blonde co-star

Amber Davies has broken her silence on an alleged feud with her Legally Blonde co-star Hannah Lowther amid rumours of ‘backstage tension’

Amber Davies has broken her silence on her alleged feud with her Legally Blonde co-star Hannah Lowther. The former Love Island star has been forced to pull out of her starring role as Elle Woods.

Giving an update to fans about her ill health, she wrote on Instagram earlier today: “Ok update: after talking to my DR, being on antibiotics and trying to recover whilst doing shows is getting me and my health NOWHERE. Been working on this lingering illness for a month now so I’ll be off again from my beautiful Elle Woods.

“This is the last thing I want but there’s no other way. I fear if I keep “pushing through” I will be battling with this for longer than I need to be. I can’t wait to be back on stage and feel like me again!!!”

However, there have been rumours about a feud between Amber and her co-star Hannah Lowther. Hannah found fame on TikTok in the pandemic and is a successful musical theatre star.

Insiders have said to the Daily Mail that “tension” had developed backstage after audiences seemed to be preferring Hannah’s portrayal of Elle over Amber’s. A source said: “When Hannah goes on, the energy is completely different.

“She gives it ten times more energy than Amber ever has, and just has that sparkle that Amber lacks. Everyone backstage is professional, but it would be fair to say the atmosphere between the two girls can be a bit tense at times.”

Now, Amber has appeared to address the feud head on. Taking to Instagram to comment on Hannah taking on the role, she also shared a personal message to Hannah, writing: “An extra special appreciate message to @hannahlowther who has given me all the grace and space to be poorly and recover. The show is in safe hands ALWAYS.”

Amber previously spoke out to defend herself, given her hectic schedule in the recent months. She added: “Also I keep having to remind myself I went from Gatsby, to a last min Strictly, then to Elle so my body’s evidently fighting for its life.

“I also keep reminding myself that it’s ok to be poorly, we are human. Just a reminder there’s absolutely never a right time to be poorly in a musical theatre schedule so you must, for your own sanity, go with the flow!”

At the time of writing, Hannah has not responded to the post but confirmed she would be playing Elle this evening.

Heartbreaking moment Hilary Duff breaks down in tears over years-long feud with sister saying ‘we don’t speak’

HILARY Duff broke down in tears as she laid bare the heartbreaking feud with her sister.

The So Yesterday hitmaker – who is in the midst of a huge pop revival with new album Luck … Or Something – admitted the pair “don’t speak”.

Hilary, 38, first referenced bad blood with her actress and singer sibling Haylie, 41, in her album track We Don’t Talk.

The track also tellingly samples Gotye song Somebody That I Used To Know.

In a new podcast chat with Jay Shetty, she explained the delicate situation and how the ongoing drama is a “raw part of my existence”.

Hilary, who previously starred with her big sister on the pair’s infamous Lizzie McGuire TV show, fought back tears as she told the On Purpose podcast: “My sister and I don’t speak.

Hilary Duff admits she CRASHED A-lister ‘nemesis’ movie premiere during feud

“And I think in my adulthood I’ve come across more and more people that are having this experience”.

She branded the situation as “a very raw part of my existence’ before she added: “I hope it’s not forever, but it’s for right now”.

Hilary said: “As painful as it feels to share, when I decided to make this record, I could only talk about the things that I’ve gone through.

“Like there would be no purpose to make a record after 10 years than to face, you know, what it’s been like.

“That’s my truth.

“And I really worked hard to lyrically make sure that I’m just speaking about my experience, you know?”

During her recent tour Hilary, who is currently relaunching her music career with a slew of stage shows, appeared to lift the lid on the fall out with her sister, and even blamed “jealousy”.

During her recent concert in London, Hilary introduced fans to the new song, We Don’t Talk.

In a clip of her performing the song on stage, she sung: “Don’t know when it happened / Not even sure what it was about,” alluding to their broken down relationship.

She continued: “Cause we come from the same home, same blood.

“People ask me how you’re doing / I wanna say amazing, but the truth is that I don’t know / What I always end up saying is how … ”

For the chorus, Hilary sung: “We don’t talk, we don’t talk about it / We don’t talk about anything anymore.”

It is in the second verse that Hilary alluded to sibling rivalry.

“And if it’s ’cause you’re jealous / God knows I would sell it all, then break you off the bigger half,” she sung.

A fan then took to social media to put: “WOWW… Hilary Duff just sung We don’t talk and it’s 100% about Haylie. But not mean at all. Basically telling her to reach out.”

Another agreed and put: “I think Hilary misses her sister!”

In another interview, she confirmed the spat was the source material for her track.

“Yeah, it is. It’s definitely about my sister,” Hilary admitted.

After years of silence, back in November Hilary seemingly addressed the feud between her and her sister while chatting about “family drama”.

Speaking to Rolling Stone about her musical comeback, the star said she feels “ready to fill in the blanks and share with people and connect with them on the level of now”.

She then told the outlet how she and her fans have gone through twists and turns and “have gone through a lot of the same things”.

“Whether that’s complicated relationships, anxiety, raising kids, divorces, trying to find yourself in adulthood, family drama…

“Finally I felt safe enough and comfortable in my own family to step outside and open that part of myself up again,” she explained.

Chatter previously swirled that the pair, who were once very close, weren’t getting along because of differing political views.

However, social media gossip page DeuxMoi claimed that the sisters fought over Hilary’s husband, Matthew Koma, butting heads with Haylie’s husband, Matthew Rosenberg.

Cruz Beckham’s girlfriend Jackie shares cryptic post about ‘kind souls’ that ‘refuse to be hardened’ amid Brooklyn feud

The whole family turned out to support Victoria apart from son Brooklyn and his wife, Nicola Peltz, amid their ongoing family feud.

Brothers Romeo and Cruz, who attended with Jackie, as well as sister Harper and their father David ensured to turn out to make sure Victoria felt she had the full support of her family after Brooklyn cut them all off amid the explosive feud.

The timing of her cryptic post about “kind souls” appeared particularly telling given that the rest of her Instagram stories were littered with supportive posts for Victoria’s fashion show.

Although she made no references by name, it appeared particularly poignant given how closely connected she is to the Beckham clan and their feud.

Re-sharing a quote to her own account, it read: “Some of the kindest souls I know have lived in a world that was not so kind to them.

“Some of the best human beings I know have been through so much at the hands of others and they still love deeply, they still care.

“Sometimes it’s the people who have been hurt the most who refuse to be hardened in this world because they would never want to make another person feel the same way they have felt.

“If that isn’t something to be in awe of I don’t know what is.”

Following the post, she ensured to heap praise upon Victoria.

She branded the show “unreal” as she shared snaps of her attending as well as of models walking the catwalk.

Hubby David also shared a gushing message for Victoria.

He said: “We are always so proud and astonished about what your achieve every single season raising the bar and continuing to live the dream that you have worked so hard for… “

Victoria herself went on to acknowledge the family members who had shown up for her following the turbulent few months.

Sharing a photo of her family online posing post-show, the mum-of-four’s caption thanked her brood for ‘always being there’.

It comes after both parents earlier this week marked Brooklyn’s 27th birthday online with sweet throwback snaps – despite no longer being in touch.

As well as tagging his wife in the post, he added the caption: “We love you x.”

Posting her own Story to Instagram, Victoria wrote: “Happy birthday Brooklyn, we love you so much.”

Sharing an old snap of herself with her budding chef son, she wrote in the next story: “Happy 27th birthday Brooklyn. I love you so much.”

From biker-jackets to hair cuts & tattoos, how Nicola Peltz is morphing into Victoria clone despite bitter feud

SORRY ladies, there is only room for one Mrs Beckham.

Over the past year, queen bee Victoria has seen son Brooklyn and his wife Nicola go all out to prove they have no wish or need to be part of the Beckham family brand.

Victoria Beckham has dominated the scene for decades

Instead, they have made moves to cement themselves as a rival power couple with global appeal.

In January’s now infamous Instagram rant aimed at his parents, Brooklyn said of his wedding: “My mum hijacked my first dance with my wife, which had been planned weeks in advance.”

Conjuring an image that has been lampooned across the internet endlessly, he added: “She danced very inappropriately on me in front of everyone. I’ve never felt more uncomfortable or humiliated in my entire life.”

But considering how much they claim to want to detach themselves from Brooklyn’s famous mum, it’s Nicola’s appearance that has us all doing a double-take.

By all accounts, she seems to be morphing into a Victoria avatar.

Both women have posed for pics in slinky catsuits.

And on Monday, Nicola shared a topless mirror selfie wearing just a pair of tights while prepping for her upcoming ballerina film Prima — instantly sparking comparisons yet again with her equally slender mother-in-law.

Is it just an uncanny coincidence?

Or is this the US-born 31-year-old’s declaration that — though there might be one Mrs Beckham — Mrs Peltz-Beckham has real girl power and is ready to steal the spotlight?

The proof, of course, is in the pouting.

A true copycat

IT’S not just Vic’s red carpet outfits and off-duty dressing that Nicola likes to imitate.

In fact, she looks to her mother-in-law when it comes to fancy dress too.

And she’s took posh appearance in it as a PVC catsuit clad Catwoman for a 2018 Vogue shoot his inspiration for her own sexy feline cosplay.

They say immitation is the sincerest form of flattery. But when it comes to Nic versus Vic, the claws are out.

In fact, she even did it yesterday to wish Brooklyn a happy birthday, telling him: “I love you so much” – despite the fact her estranged son had blocked his whole family on the site and requested his parents do not interact with him or tag him in posts.

Naturally, Nicola is just as effusive, regularly writing, “I love you baby” and uploading smoochy snaps to her own social media – letting Brooklyn, and the world, know that she can get soppy, too.

A pattern’s emerging here

IF Victoria airs her love on Instagram, David does it on his body.

He has famously tattooed it inch by inch to create a tapestry of tributes to his family, including the words “Posh” and “Victoria”, which are emblazoned on his hands.

Not one to be outdone, Brooklyn is following suit, decking out his body with tattooed tributes to Nicola – and he even has an image of her eyes inked on his neck.

Staring out from behind him, they firmly tell the world: “I’m the only Mrs Beckham that matters”.

LOUNGING on the back of her £16million family yacht with loved ones is among Victoria’s favourite pastimes.

And for a while, Nicola would have happily soaked up the sun beside her as they sailed the Mediterranean.

But since the family schism, Brooklyn and Nicola have been holidaying sans Beckhams – instead, joining Nic’s family last summer on their much bigger superyacht in the south of France.

Yes, they pushed the boat out – leaving choppy waters in their wake.

They’ll make them see red

THERE is nothing Victoria and David love more than a romantic dinner together.

The couple often share snapshots from special anniversaries as they clink glasses next to a super-expensive bottle of wine.

So it is no surprise that Nicola and Brooklyn have added that to the list of “things we can do, too” – recently sharing a stream of photos from their loved-up date nights, each with a glass of pricey red in hand.

They really are sips off the old block.

VICTORIA has graced the front page of hundreds of fancy magazines over the years – posing for in excess of 30 international Vogue covers, in addition to the likes of Elle, Glamour and Harper’s Bazaar.

Still, Nicola is clipping at her heels, having graced the cover of Glamour Germany’s Love Issue last year alongside Brooklyn.

She even nabbed her own solo cover for Tatler in 2022, which bore the controversial headline, “The New Mrs Beckham”.

Ouch!

This comes as the Beckham’s brutal family feud continues with Brooklyn, 26, recently unfollowing some of the Ramsay family after Gordon’s exclusive interview with The Sun

The chef said it was only going to be a “matter of time” before Brooklyn took a “good look at himself” and finally understood “just what his parents mean to him.”

He said: “It’s hard, isn’t it, when you’re infatuated? Love is blind. It’s easy to get up on that rollercoaster, and get carried away. But it will come back.”

But now, Nicola, 31, has left little to the imagination as she posed in just a pair of white tights and matching slingback heels.

The brunette, who appeared to be on set for her new film Prima, wrapped her arms around her chest in the daring snaps.

Facing the mirror, Nicola gave the camera a sultry look as she flaunted her incredible figure.

The actress had her locks styled over her shoulder in loose curls as she braved nearly flashing fans.

Nicola recently underwent four months of gruelling ballet training and a strict diet to fall under 100 pounds for her role in the indie drama.

Alongside the sexy snap, Nicola also posted a selfie in her dressing gown.

The star opted for a natural makeup look, finishing it off with a deep pink gloss.

Last week, the Beckham’s put on a united front as they were seen out celebrating Cruz’s 21st birthday for the second time.

Famed partygoers David, 50, and Victoria threw another lavish birthday party for their youngest son at a Notting Hill restaurant.

The couple looked stylish as always as they were spotted arriving at The Fat Badger for dinner with Cruz and his girlfriend Jackie Apostel.

The birthday boy opted for a zipped up brown leather jacket which he paired with some baggy denim jeans and white Converses.

Cruz’s brother Romeo looked suave in a camel bomber jacket with matching trousers as he walked hand in hand with girlfriend Mia Regan.

Their eldest son Brooklyn’s birthday is just days away on March 4.

While the Beckham’s have made it clear they want to reconcile with their estranged son, Brooklyn cut ties with his family in January when he posted a six-page explosive statement.

The bombshell statement made some scathing claims about his parents including that his mum, Victoria, 51, hijacked his first dance with Nicola.

MAFS UK reunion’s biggest revelations including unexpected new feud

A one-off reunion episode brought back a number of stars from the tenth series months after the E4 show ended

The stars of Married At First Sight UK’s tenth season reunited for one final time in an explosive reunion episode that aired this evening (March 1).

The dramatic season concluded back in November last year, and while a number of couples made it to their final vows on the show, nearly all of them separated after filming ended. Just one couple from the series are still together, Abigail Lindsay and John Shepherd.

There was no shortage of tears and clashes as the cast got back together, and there was even an unexpected new feud. So what were the biggest revelations that came during the episode?

Bailey had a fling with April’s best friend

April and Rebecca were frosty with each other from the start following the revelation that Rebecca’s ex, Bailey, slept with April’s best friend at a music festival.

Rebecca claimed April had broken ‘girl code’ by not informing her about what had happened straight away. After April pulled Rebecca for a chat to attempt to smooth things over, the conversation took a sour turn.

April was left in tears after Rebecca told her: “I don’t dislike you, I would just never associate with someone like you,” elaborating: “I’m treating you like the opposite of a girls’ girl, which is what you are.”

Bailey ended things with Rebecca

Fans had long questioned who had ended things with who when news of Bailey and Rebecca’s split was made public. The pair had been loved-up on the show and were even planning a huge move to be together permanently, with Rebecca planning to uproot her life in Liverpool to join Bailey and his daughter down south.

Rebecca revealed that she was on the verge of moving when Bailey ended things with her following a tense holiday to Dublin. She admitted she had been actively in conversation with an aesthetics clinic as she prepared to move her business.

Bailey recalled he had tried to split up with her twice before they finally parted. He said: “I couldn’t breathe without her telling me off for doing something.” He claimed it felt like “she was sabotaging the relationship.”

Rebecca was texting her ex

Bailey reluctantly revealed at the dinner table a private conversation that he had with Rebecca in the car ride home following their final vows on the show which he felt caused him to change afterwards.

He told the group: “Why did I change? I changed because after final vows I feel like you lied to me because of what you told me in the car on the way home.”

He continued: “You said ‘I’m so sorry I’ve got to tell you something. During the show, I was messaging my ex’ – and you didn’t tell me until after final vows.” Rebecca insisted the messages were never flirty, and that her ex simply didn’t know she was on the show.

Maeve and Julia-Ruth are civil

Maeve and Julia-Ruth had one of the fiercest feuds on their season, especially after Julia-Ruth got a matching tattoo with Maeve’s ex. Despite their past, the pair were smiling and laughing together as they met at the reunion.

Both decided to bury the hatchet and found common ground in navigating life in the public eye.

Dean is dating again

Viewers were delighted to see Dean giving up on his unrequited love for Sarah and moving forward with his dating life. He shared that he had been on a couple of dates since the series wrapped, and he still shares a solid friendship with his former flame.

He even had the support of Sarah who danced as he delivered a signature rap at the dinner table, despite her previously considering his rapping an ‘ick’ when they first met.

Sunday Brunch turns awkward as Tim Lovejoy calls out guest’s David Attenborough ‘feud’

Tim Lovejoy made a return to Channel 4 alongside co-host Simon Rimmer on Sunday morning

Sunday Brunch suffered an awkward moment as Tim Lovejoy was quick to question a guest on her unexpected “feud” with David Attenborough.

During Sunday’s (March 1) episode of the Channel 4 hit show, Tim made a return to TV alongside co-host Simon Rimmer, for the usual three-hour show packed with celebrity interviews, culinary demonstrations and light-hearted entertainment.

On the long-running programme, the pair chatted to the likes of EastEnders Samantha Womack and American pop star Tiffany Renee Darwish.

However it was their interview with Dame Maggie Aderin-Pocock that took everyone by surprise as Tim was quick to call out the science expert on her unexpected fall out with David Attenborough.

Without hesitation, Tim went on to say: “I’ll just put it out there, we understand you’ve got beef with David Attenborough. You fell out with him.”

Maggie burst out laughing as she replied: “Yeah, It’s an ongoing feud, he’s going down.”

Tim wasted no time digging for information as he jumped in: “Tell us about that because you’re both legends of this country and you don’t like each other.” Simon: “It’s so sad actually.”

Maggie explained: “So I was sitting next to him at dinner and I was gobsmacked sitting next to him and he was lovely and wonderful and we started talking about each other’s lives.”

Tim joked: “When did you fall out, was it the main course?” Maggie burst out laughing as she continued: “We were talking about life beyond the earth. It’s just sort of a lovely topic and he was like, no, no Maggie, you know, life needs water.

“And I was like ‘but David no’. I was thinking because that’s life as we know it. All life on earth needs water. But out there there could be life.”

She added: “So we had this ongoing debate, at the end, I said, ‘okay, David, I’m gonna go out and prove my theory’. He said, ‘Maggie, you’re a star. Stay here with us’.”

Viewers watching at home were pleased to see Dame Maggie as they rushed to social media to share their reaction.

One viewer wrote on X: “I could listen to Dame Dr. Maggie all day. She’s got that infectious enthusiasm that always reels me in. #SundayBrunch.” Meanwhile another added: “I love Maggie she’s so humble and nice #SundayBrunch.”

Robbie Williams ends feud with Gary Barlow as he emotionally reveals he apologised for his ‘smug’ behaviour

ROBBIE Williams has finally put his feud with Take That bandmate Gary Barlow to bed with a public apology at his War Child gig tonight.

During the intimate concert at Manchester‘s Aviva Studios, Robbie took a moment to reflect on the recent Take That Netflix documentary.

He famously quit the band at the height of their fame in 1995 to pursue a solo career, fed-up of playing second fiddle to the pop group’s leader, Gary.

Years of mud-slinging followed, predominantly from Robbie towards his boyband rival which had a severe impact on Gary’s self-esteem.

Though they quashed their feud for a 2010 reunion tour and album, questions still lingered at just how friendly the pair were.

Today, Robbie did his best to make amends for past behaviours and admitted he was out of order at times to Gary (and Howard Donald and Mark Owen).

OZZY TRIBUTE

Robbie Williams to sing tribute to Ozzy Osbourne as Brits honour the late star

“Did anybody see the Take That documentary?,” he asked the audience. “I have to say I was a bit of a ‘c***’ in the second episode. I don’t think anybody has seen a man smugger than Robbie Williams in the second episode.

“And you know what, I felt really bad. I felt f***ing horrible about it. I’d been horrible to Gary, horrible to Mark, horrible to Howard and I was genuinely thinking about it for days and days and days and I’d go to bed at night and I was thinking I’ve gotta apologise again.

“But just to clarify, I f**king love Gary Barlow now. And he loved me. There’s only so many times I can apologise now.”

He then segued into his 90s track Ego A Go Go, written about Gary, calling it a “horrible song”.

Its chorus goes: “Ego a go go now you’ve gone solo/Living on a memory/Now you’ve gone stately/And yes you do hate me/Could you offer an apology.”

Listening to his band rehearse the track on a previous date, Robbie said he had a revelation.

“I was sat there thinking hang on no one has ever left a boyband and gone ‘they’re a c, they’re a c except me’. But I’m a c***,” he said.

In the three-part Netflix docuseries, Gary talks about his struggle with bulimia, which started following Take That’s split in 1996 and his rivalry with Robbie.

Taunts from Robbie are replayed during, with footage showing him saying: “My problem always was with Gary, I wanted to crush him.

“I wanted to crush the memory of the band and I didn’t let go. Even when he was down I didn’t let go.”

Speaking at the premiere at Battersea Power Station, Gary admitted it was tough to watch.

He said: “It’s a narrative I haven’t thought about for years and years.

“When we had our reunion we spent a lot of time talking about it and I remember leaving on one particular day and we’d discussed everything. And I remember leaving and my shoulders were light.

“And I’d not thought about it since because I’d not needed to. And it brought it all back. Tricky times, they were.”

As well as the tough times, Take That fans get a front seat to the inner workings of the group’s comeback with Robbie in 2011.

Opening up about healing their old wounds, Robbie said: “I needed Gary to listen to my truth.”

Gary continued: “There were things around people not being supportive of his songwriting and his weight.

“I’d called him Blobby rather than Robbie one day, which I shouldn’t have done.

“Then I hit him with things he had done to me that I didn’t like.

“In about 25 minutes we’d put things to bed that had haunted us for years.”

Amanda Holden STOPS radio show and tells off co-star for raising Phillip Schofield feud

AMANDA Holden temporarily brought her radio show to a halt after co-star Jamie Theakston mentioned her rival Phillip Schofield.

The Heart Breakfast hosts, both 55, had Brit Awards host Jack Whitehall in the studio ahead of Sunday’s ceremony at the Manchester Co-op Live.

The banter was innocent enough, with Amanda quizzing Jack about the type of socks he’s planning on wearing.

Suggesting he won’t be going for the type of outlandish pair favoured by his dad, Michael, Jack said: “Well, I don’t want to be upstaged by a sock.”

Amanda turned to Jamie and said: “Well, Jamie, I rest my case.”

Unsure why she was sticking the boot in about socks, he replied: “What are you talking about? Children’s television? That wasn’t me, that was Phillip Schofield.”

Amanda Holden reveals why she’d not take Strictly job – and her top 2 choices

Amanda then took a dig at her long-running rival, saying: “Oh God, please, let’s not mention that name on air, it’s a family show!”

Phillip and Amanda’s feud is rumoured to have begun when she was passed over for a hosting gig in favour of Phil’s first choice, Rochelle Humes.

Amanda had been tipped to stand in for Holly Willoughby on This Morning during her time away hosting I’m A Celebrity in 2018 but The Saturdays star Rochelle booked the job instead.

A former daytime TV executive told The Sun at the time: “Phillip actively campaigned for Rochelle to get the job despite Amanda being more experienced — and having been told privately she’d got the gig.

“She feels Phil unfairly used his powers of persuasion. She was told he’d chosen Rochelle because she was easier to ‘manage’ on air – and understandably that incensed her.”

An ITV spokesperson denied the claims at the time and released a statement of support for Phillip.

Phillip left This Morning under a cloud in 2023 after it was revealed he lied about a fling with a male colleagueCredit: Getty

The statement read: “Presenter line-ups on This Morning change regularly. Final decisions are made by producers, not presenters.

“Phillip is a much-loved broadcaster and part of the ITV family. He’s a consummate professional and held in high regard at ITV.

“Amanda is also held in high regard as a judge on one of our biggest shows.”

Shortly after Rochelle was confirmed as Holly’s replacement, Amanda appeared on This Morning to talk about her work with pregnancy and baby loss charity, Tommy’s.

During an ad break on the October 2018 episode, Amanda reportedly confronted Phil about her suspicions that he had campaigned for Rochelle to replace Holly instead of her.

A source told The Sun: “She made it clear that she felt very let down.

“He was lost for words but didn’t have much time to respond to Amanda’s claims because the show was going back on air.

“Neither of them realised that Amanda could be overheard by most of the team because she was still wearing her mic pack.”

In 2019, Amanda confirmed her and Phillip’s feud to Jamie Theakston on Heart and insisted they’ll never reconcile.

She said she asked to meet Phillip in a bid to clear the air but was ghosted by the star.

“I’ve moved on from it Jamie, you need to move on from it,” she said.

He replied: “You might have moved on but I just wanted to know, is there any more to the story?”

Amanda and Phillip allegedly fell out after he favoured Rochelle Humes for a This Morning presenting roleCredit: Rex Features

She then revealed: “I did offer to meet him for a coffee months ago, he didn’t reply to my text. What can I say?”

Jamie pushed again: “The olive branch had been extended.”

“Oh, yes,” Amanda replied.

Referring to the famous photo of Katy Perry and Taylor Swift hugging while dressed up as fast food after they’d resolved their own feud, Jamie asks Amanda if there will be a “burger and fries moment” – but Amanda said “no”.

Phillip has not directly addressed his rumoured fallout with Amanda but, prior to the alleged end of their friendship, he had revealed what it was like to work with her.

In 2015, he spoke to Heat magazine about his former co-worker, saying: “She kept me on my toes.

“She has a faulty edit button and she forgets she’s on the telly, which is enormously endearing and funny, but occasionally quite scary.”

He also appeared to reference the rumours surrounding his relationship with Amanda after The Sun reported that she had made a formal complaint to ITV boss Kevin Lygo about the This Morning hiring incident.

Phil addressed the speculation on Twitter, saying: “The end of another really sad weekend.

“When you try for 35 years to be the easiest, most fun person to work with and you read such hurtful and wildly untrue stories from nameless ‘sources’.

“Obviously I’ll take it on the chin.. .I just hope you know me better.”

The Heat chaos as ITV2 show sparks co-star ‘feud’ just two episodes in

ITV2’s The Heat sees aspiring chefs vying to impress award-winning cook Jean-Christophe Novelli

Tensions are already mounting just two episodes into ITV’s brand new reality competition, The Heat.

Fronted by Olivia Attwood, the culinary programme follows ten ambitious chefs working in an upmarket Barcelona restaurant led by award-winning cook Jean-Christophe Novelli.

The determined group are challenged with operating the restaurant daily in a bid to impress Jean-Christophe.

But it’s not just their kitchen exploits that take centre stage, cameras also track the young competitors on evenings out as well as during their leisure time.

Wednesday’s (February 25) episode saw unexpected drama unfolding between the chefs as Seren and Kat both developed feelings for the same bloke, reports the Daily Star.

Whilst visiting a local Spanish bar, Seren confided in her close mates that she fancies Djordje but there’s a complication. She said: “I think he’s very fit. However, he likes Kat.”

The fashion marketing student went on to disclose that she had noticed chemistry developing between Kat and Djordje when they worked on the pastry section together during the day.

Seren later acknowledged her genuine feelings in the confessional room, saying: “I would love to tell you that I’m deeply happy for them, but do I wish it was me? Possibly.”

The Buckinghamshire chef had already revealed her feelings to Djordje the previous night, but that didn’t prevent Kat from making her own advance.

Kat even recognised that her connection with Djordje could create a rift with her co-star. “Seren told Djordje last night that she liked him,” she said.

“So I am feeling a little bit awkward. I don’t want to be stepping on toes.”

Despite her reservations, Kat and Djordje subsequently enjoyed a flirtatious conversation and chose to leave together.

Wakefield-born Djordje then discussed their budding connection, revealing: “I had an amazing chat with Kat tonight, it went exactly as I planned.”

For the latest showbiz, TV, movie and streaming news, go to the new **Everything Gossip** website.

Yet he made it clear she wasn’t his sole focus. “But you know me, my doors are always still open. I’m here to have fun in Barcelona,” the chef remarked.

Meanwhile, Seren remained optimistic about her chances with the tattooed chef. She confided to producers: “It’s not over yet.”

A preview for episode three hints at the fallout from Kat and Djordje’s evening together, though viewers will need to tune in to discover whether Seren will make her move to gain the advantage.

The Heat continues on ITV2 and ITVX tomorrow at 9pm
