Carly Rae Jepsen is pregnant, expecting first baby with Cole M.G.N.

It isn’t crazy: Carly Rae Jepsen is expecting her first child with husband Cole M.G.N.

The Canadian singer-songwriter announced her pregnancy Monday in an Instagram post, sharing a few black-and-white photos of the couple and Jepsen’s baby bump that hint there may be some kicking going on.

“Oh hi baby,” Jepsen, 39, wrote in the caption along with a heart emoji. Her 40-year-old husband, whose full name is Cole Marsden Greif-Neill, is feeling so much love and excitement that he has been rendered speechless, if the multiple heart-eyes emojis are any indication.

According to the couple’s wedding spread in Vogue, Jepsen and the Grammy Award-winning producer tied the knot in October, and the couple had been trying to get pregnant while planning their New York wedding. The musicians first met as colleagues in 2021 and started dating in 2022 before getting getting engaged in September of last year.

In 2023, Jepsen told People that their first collaboration, the song “So Right” from her album “The Loveliest Time,” was in essence the couple’s “meet-cute.”

“This is our first little baby out in the world,” Jepsen told the outlet at the time. “I think you’ll see a lot more of our collaboration together for future projects.”

Known for her earworm 2012 hit “Call Me Maybe,” Jepsen most recently celebrated the 10th anniversary of the release of “Emotion” with a sold-out show at the Troubadour, where she performed the entirety of the 2015 album.

“‘Emotion’ was like an introduction to my authentic version of what pop music was,” Jepsen said of the LP in 2020. “I was itching to share something different, because I knew that ‘Call Me Maybe’ wasn’t the only color of what I had to offer.”

Celeb Traitors star Paloma Faith fuels feud rumours with Alan Carr

On TikTok, Paloma filmed several clips over the last few weeks, hiding her stomach from the view of her followers.

One video sees her sit behind a table, while another shows the singer strategically covering her stomach with a pillow.

Another dead giveaway was a caption on Paloma’s Instagram.

In the recent upload, she joked that “mumma” was “recharging”.

Anyone looking back at Paloma’s social media will see the string of hints in posts since she was eliminated from The Celebrity Traitors.

On Friday, she shared a snap of her baby bump on Instagram.

Paloma wrote: “Plot twist, mother is mothering (again).”

She then used the hashtags #morethangeriatricpregnancy #oappregnancy #oapmilf in jest, along with #18weekspregnant.

Paloma is believed to be expecting with her boyfriend Stevie Thomas.

The director of a music venue in Birmingham also once appeared on Channel 4 reality show Shipwrecked back in 2007.

The couple went public with their relationship in March, but it’s thought they had been dating secretly for more than a year.

Paloma shares two daughters with her ex-partner, artist Leyman Lahcine.

The pair split three years ago, and their children were born in 2016 and 2021.

Luka Doncic expecting tough test vs. Steph Curry in Lakers’ opener

They remain two of the NBA’s biggest stars, and whenever LeBron James and the Lakers face Stephen Curry and the Golden State Warriors it is must-see TV.

The Lakers and Warriors will open the regular season against each other Tuesday night at Crypto.com Arena, but James will not play because he’s dealing with a sciatica nerve injury on his right side.

Nevertheless, the rivalry between the Lakers and the Warriors will continue to shine.

“Obviously, going against Steph is very exciting,” Lakers star Luka Doncic said after practice Monday. “It’s going to be tough. I don’t know if it’s a rivalry, but it’s for sure an exciting game.”

When the Lakers and Warriors played on Christmas last season, James and Curry put on a show.

James had 31 points and 10 assists in the Lakers’ victory and Curry had 38 points.

The two had proved again that they can captivate sports fans.

“Lakers against Warriors has been intense,” Lakers forward Rui Hachimura said. “We’ve always played pretty intense games, playoff-like. So this is going to be [the same]. … So even with LeBron out, it’s going to be a great game. Of course, we got to compete and we’re trying to get this dub [win].”

The James-Curry rivalry reached its zenith from 2015-2018, when their teams met in the NBA Finals four consecutive years. James, who was playing for the Cleveland Cavaliers during those years, won just one championship against Curry.

“Steph-LeBron rivalry, whatever you want to call it, matchup has always been awesome — for whatever teams they’ve been on and for the league itself,” Lakers coach JJ Redick said. “I know we had some great games against those guys last year. Being a part of that was really cool. I think when you’re the Lakers and you play on national TV more than any other team, you’re generally going to play against great teams and that’s what tomorrow is. I think it’s just a general excitement about the start of the year. I don’t know if there’s anything extra to that.”

With James out, Doncic said there is “nothing specifically” he has to do extra.

“I just try to win every game,” Doncic said. “Obviously, it’s going to be hard with LeBron out. But when he’s ready to return, he’s going to help us a lot for sure.”

Doncic will have help from Austin Reaves, Deandre Ayton, Hachimura, Gabe Vincent and the rest of the Lakers.

Curry will have help from longtime teammate Draymond Green and Jimmy Butler.

But a lot of eyes will be on Curry, someone Doncic immensely respects.

“For sure. As an opponent, obviously [it is] very hard to guard him,” Doncic said. “He’s moving all the time. He can shoot from anywhere, so I feel like it’s hard but always exciting. Going against a player like that is very exciting.”

Etc.

Redick said James, who is expected to be out until November, did “individual work” during practice Monday. Redick said Lakers backup center Jaxson Hayes (right wrist contusion) was “trending” toward playing Tuesday, as was Bronny James (ankle) and Maxi Kleber (quad).

Enrique Iglesias and Anna Kournikova expecting baby No. 4

Add one more to the number of kids that will have Enrique Iglesias as a personal hero. The singer and his wife, Anna Kournikova, are expecting their fourth child.

They are already parents of 7-year-old twins Lucy and Nicholas and 5-year-old Mary. Iglesias and Kournikova are “overjoyed,” according to Hola! Kournikova is halfway through the pregnancy.

Iglesias, 50, returned to Spain in July to perform at the Granca Live Fest — it was his first show in his native country in six years. He has planned appearances in Mexico, India and Abu Dhabi. In 2024, the pop singer released “FINAL (Vol. 2),” the last installment of his serialized studio album farewell.

While promoting his tour in 2021, Enrique Iglesias and Ricky Martin Live in Concert with special guest Sebastián Yatra on Instagram, the singer said his “FINAL” series “might be” his last album.

“I’m in that moment in my life, that chapter in my life, where I think it’s the right time to put it out and I’ve been thinking about this since 2015,” Iglesias said.

Kournikova, 44, retired from tennis in 2003 because of injuries. In 2011, during the 12th season of NBC’s reality weight-loss competition “The Biggest Loser,” she replaced Jillian Michaels as the trainer for that one season.

The “Hero” singer and the former professional tennis player have been together since 2001. They live a private life in Miami — raising their family away from the spotlight, according to People. The two “love being parents” and spend their time “raising their children,” a source familiar with the couple told People in February.

Many people head off of their holidays to let their hair down. As well as the beach, a lot of tourists like to enjoy a tipple as the sun goes down and head out to some bars.

However, one female holidaymaker who was after just this admits she was left disappointed when she headed to Spanish city Valencia for a trip away. Chelsie, known as @chelsieelf on Instagram, often shares videos about her travels, which she does while working remotely, with her 12,500 followers. And one of her latest reels sees her strolling around Valencia looking startled at the lack of nightlife.

The caption for the video reads: “When you didn’t read the news and go to Valencia expecting amazing nightlife and late-open bars.”

A new headline flashes up half-way throughout the clip which reads: “Spanish seaside city to close bars early and remove terraces in huge tourism crackdown.”

Following up in the caption of her clip, Chelsie shares things she learned about Valencia on her trip.

She wrote: “Because of too much noise from ppl partying in bars and clubs, recently police enforced closing times of 1am, many places closed at 12. I still found a bar that closed at 3 on a weekday though.”

Talking about more Valencia findings, Chelsie also said that the food is “relatively cheaper than other parts of Spain that tourists visit”. She also mentioned that she loved the “interesting architecture” and said that the best beaches are ‘at least an hour South or North’.

Writing in the comments section, one person in the know said: “Tourism was killing the city, this is a way to crack down on it. Most of the locals now go out outside of the city centre, since the city centre is basically now all Airbnbs.”

Many also mentioned the floods that hit Valencia last year, which killed hundreds of people.

One person said: “Yeah there was also a massive flood that killed a lot of people and Valencia is still recovering from it. It never hurts to learn a bit before traveling.”

While another added: “I’m in Valencia, 7 months ago we had a massive flood, lots of people died and others lost their homes and cars and businesses… so yeah maybe partying is on our minds…”

A third chimed also wrote: “There was a huge flood that people are trying to recover from so people are still mourning.”

Another resident of the city also had a plea, writing: “As a Valencian, please keep coming but being respectful of the culture, nature and residents.”

US National Guard ‘expecting a ramp-up’ in immigration protests: official | Donald Trump News

The National Guard members deployed to the protests in Los Angeles have been trained to temporarily detain civilians if necessary, according to the troops’ commander.

Nevertheless, as of Wednesday, Major General Scott Sherman clarified that no troops have detained any protester, despite an earlier statement that suggested otherwise.

The National Guard’s deployment came in response to protests against United States President Donald Trump’s push for mass deportation, which recently targeted hardware stores and other businesses in southern California, prompting outrage.

Protesters flooded the streets starting on Friday to denounce the immigration raids. Trump responded by sending the military to the scene, denouncing what he considered “third-world lawlessness” in the city. Since then, however, the protests have spread beyond Los Angeles, to major cities in other parts of the country.

Speaking to reporters on Wednesday, Sherman said authorities “are expecting a ramp-up” in national unrest in the coming days.

“I’m focused right here in LA, what’s going on right here. But you know, I think we’re very concerned,” he said.

Sherman explained that 500 of the more than 4,000 National Guard members deployed to Los Angeles have also received training to assist Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) in the immigration raids.

His remarks came as condemnation continues to grow over Trump’s decision to deploy the National Guard to California without the permission of the state’s governor, Gavin Newsom.

Since the National Guard arrived on Sunday, Trump has sent nearly 700 Marines to the Los Angeles area as well.

Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass on Wednesday accused the Trump administration of using the military to escalate tensions in the city, where the protests first broke out on Friday.

“We started off by hearing the administration wanted to go after violent felons, gang members, drug dealers,” Bass said of Trump’s deportation push.

“But when you raid Home Depots and workplaces, when you tear parents and children apart, and when you run armoured caravans through our streets, you are not trying to keep anyone safe. You’re trying to cause fear and panic.

“And when you start deploying federalised troops on the heels of these raids, it is a drastic and chaotic escalation and completely unnecessary.”

Newsom, meanwhile, filed an emergency motion on Tuesday to block Trump from expanding the military presence in Los Angeles beyond federal buildings, with a court hearing set for Thursday.

Bass and Governor Newsom have maintained that local law enforcement were able to handle the situation before Trump intervened and that the military presence prompted more unrest, not less.

Speaking alongside 30 other California mayors and city leaders on Wednesday, Bass questioned if Trump was seeing how far he could push his presidential power.

“This was provoked by the White House. The reason why? We don’t know,” said Bass.

“I posit that maybe we are part of a national experiment to determine how far the federal government can go in reaching in and taking over power from a governor, power from a local jurisdiction.”

So far, Trump has maintained that the soldiers’ deployment was needed to protect federal property and agents — and was therefore within his executive authority.

He has not yet invoked the Insurrection Act of 1807, a federal law that would suspend prohibitions against the military directly taking part in domestic law enforcement. Until that happens, the troops are generally barred from making arrests.

Speaking during a news conference on Wednesday, White House spokesperson Karoline Leavitt repeated Trump’s claims that sending in the National Guard and Marines had prevented Los Angeles from spiralling into chaos.

She charged that Bass and Newsom had “shamefully failed to meet their sworn obligations to their citizens”.

“They’re attempting to use a violent mob as a weapon against their own constituents to prevent the enforcement of immigration law,” she said. “This is deeply un-American and morally reprehensible.”

Questions about ‘migrant invasion’

Amid the unrest, the Trump administration has pledged to continue its aggressive immigration raids, with officials last month setting a quota of 3,000 arrests a day.

Advocates say the pressure has motivated ICE agents to take increasingly drastic measures, targeting anyone in the country without documentation, even those who have not committed criminal offences and those with deep community ties.

Reporting from Los Angeles, Al Jazeera’s Phil Lavelle said authorities have been conducting blanket raids at Home Depot hardware stores, where undocumented day labourers often gather to find work.

At one location, labourers told Lavelle “that they will continue to come even though they know that these stores are being targeted – even though they know that they will be targets – because quite simply, they’ve got to work”.

“These are people who are communicating by WhatsApp and other methods,” Lavelle added. “If anybody is seen in the area who looks like an ICE agent, straight away, there are reports so that people know that they have to leave.”

So far, 61 Mexican nationals had been detained in Los Angeles during the recent raids, according to Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum.

Trump has repeatedly claimed that the influx of migrants into the US constitutes an “invasion”, which in turn necessitates emergency actions.

Speaking on Tuesday from the Fort Bragg military base in North Carolina, he called the protests in California a “full-blown assault on peace, on public order and our national sovereignty carried out by rioters bearing foreign flags with the aim of continuing a foreign invasion of our country”.

But during a congressional hearing on Wednesday, the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff General Dan Caine was asked whether he believed the US was being invaded by a foreign power. His answer appeared to contradict Trump.

“I don’t see any foreign state-sponsored folks invading, but I’ll be mindful of the fact that there have been some border issues,” he said.
