Jack Osbourne reveals how he found out dad Ozzy had died as he fights back tears in emotional return to podcast – The Sun

JACK Osbourne has revealed the heartbreaking moment he was told of his father Ozzy’s death.

The rock legend died at the age of 76 on July 22, and was laid to rest next to the lake in his Buckinghamshire home.

Ozzy’s tragic passing came just weeks after his last concert in Birmingham.

It was also the last time son Jack saw his dad, he shared in a new YouTube video.

“My dad was great. He was in a good mood he was happy,” he said.

“I woke up in Los Angeles to a knock on my house door at around 3.45 in the morning.

“Someone who has worked for my family for about 30 years now was knocking on my door and when I looked through my window and I saw it was him, I knew something bad had happened.

“I was informed that my father had passed.”

The grieving son continued: “So many thoughts, there was a level of like “okay, he’s not struggling. He’s not suffering anymore”. And that is something.

“I wish he was still here, you know? I wish he was still with us all, but he was having a rough go and I think people saw that at the show.”

Jack rushed back to England to support his family, and prepare for the funeral, as well as a procession through Birmingham in his father’s memory.

Thousands of mourners lined the streets and left tributes at the Black Sabbath Bridge.

“I speak for the family when I saw this. We are so grateful for that and it meant so much…. it was validating because I know we weren’t alone”, Jack added.

The late rock legend’s son previously shared a heartwarming clip to Instagram and explained how hand-written letters, memorabilia, and merch were being “carefully preserved”.

Jack told how every item will be recorded on a digital database and given to the Osbourne family.

The icon’s funeral, a private ceremony held at the family home in Buckinghamshire, took place the following day.

Jack continued: “I actually shared this at my at my father’s funeral.

“There’s an interview with Keanu Reeves. He’s on some nighttime talk show or whatever and they asked him, ‘What do you think happens when you die?’

“And Keanu Reeves answer was, ‘I don’t know what happens when you die, but what I do know is the people that love you miss you the most’.

“I felt that immensely. He wasn’t just a father to me. He was my colleague. We worked together in so many capacities.

“I had recently moved, there was a period where I was between houses and I moved back in with him.

“So, he was my housemate in my late 30s and it was awesome. Me and the kids were living here. Just a friend, a text buddy, a joke cracker.”

The dad-of-four described Ozzy as “funny, and weird and awkward and clumsy and just hilarious and so insightful”, throughout his health battles.

Concluding the interview, Jack said: “He’s exploding through the universe and we’re all seeing it. So, I’ll just end with this, you know, thank you.”

‘HE LIVED HIS LIFE FULLY’

Shortly after his father’s death, Jack took to social media to share a touching tribute.

He said: “I haven’t really wanted to post anything since the passing of my father. My heart has hurt too much.

“I’m gonna keep this short because he certainly hated long rambling speeches.

“He was so many things to so many people, but I was so lucky and blessed to be apart of a very small group that got to call him “Dad.”

“My heart is full of so much sadness and sorrow, but also so much love and gratitude.”

Jack continued: “I got 14,501 days with that man and I know that is such a blessing. I think this quote best describes my father.

“Hunter S. Thompson once said: “Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well-preserved body… but rather to skid in broadside in a cloud of smoke, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming, ‘Wow! What a ride!'”

He added: “That was my dad. He lived and he lived his life fully. I love you dad.”

In recent years, Ozzy had been battling numerous health conditions, including Parkinson’s.

His official death certificate lists ‘acute myocardial infarction’ and ‘out of hospital cardiac arrest’ under the cause of death section.

It also listed coronary artery disease and Parkinson’s disease with autonomic dysfunction as “joint causes” of Ozzy’s death.

In his final performance, Ozzy sang five songs in his own set, with fans waving torches from their phones during Mama, I’m Coming Home.

He finished his performance with Crazy Train, before confetti rained over a packed Villa Park.

FAMILY UNITED

The Osbourne family have fiercely defended their late patriarch since his death.

Jack yesterday hit out at Pink Floyd legend Roger Waters in a sweary rant over comments about Ozzy.

Roger told The Independent Ink: “Ozzy Osbourne, who just died, bless him in whatever that state he was in his whole life.”

He added: “We’ll never know. The music, I have no idea. I couldn’t give a f**k.”

Roger finished by saying: “I don’t care about Black Sabbath, I never did.

“Have no interest in biting the heads of chickens or whatever they do. I couldn’t care less, you know.”

Taking to his Instagram Story, Jack soon fired back at these comments.

He penned: “Hey @rogerwaters. F*** You. How pathetic and out of touch you’ve become.

“The only way you seem to get attention these days is by vomiting out bulls*** in the press.

“My father always thought you were a c**t – thanks for proving him right.”

Meanwhile, sister Kelly Osbourne last month slammed WWE star  Becky Lynch for her comments.

The wrestler made a fiery promo ahead of her Intercontinental Title match with Nicki Bella this Sunday.

Addressing the crowd Lynch said: “The only good thing that came outta here died a month ago.”

She added: “But in fairness to Ozzy Osbourne, he had the good sense to move to L.A. Because if I lived in Birmingham, I’d die too.”

Kelly said in a post afterwards: “Becky Lynch you are a disrespectful dirtbag! Birmingham would not p*** on you if you were on fire.

“Shame on the WWE for allowing such things to be said about my father and his home!”

Man Utd hero now playing for same club as his son 21 years his junior after emotional transfer

ASHLEY and Tyler Young are set to become the first father-son duo to take to the field in Championship history.

The pair were denied a historic meeting by Peterborough boss Darren Ferguson in last season’s FA Cup when Tyler and his Posh team-mates took on Premier League side Everton.

Had Tyler taken to the pitch while his old man was on the field, they would’ve become the first father-son duo to play against one another in the 154-year history of the FA Cup.

But now, they could potentially play for the SAME TEAM after Tyler was signed to Ipswich Town‘s Under-21s following a successful trial.

Former Manchester United and England star Ashley joined the Tractor Boys this summer at the ripe old age of 40.

And the magnitude of Town’s signing of his son hasn’t gone unnoticed by football fans.

One wrote on X:”Like father, like son.”

Another said: “Hopefully, they get given a game together.”

And another said: “Finally get to play together professionally.”

One remarked: “Would love to see them play in the same team together.”

Another chimed in: “Father and son at the same club, a beautiful story.”

Ashley inked a one-year deal with Ipswich in July following his release from Everton.

Darren Ferguson says Everton star ‘had a pop at me’ for not bringing on Ashley Young’s son Tyler

Manager Kieran McKenna said of his arrival: “Ashley has had a fantastic career and his achievements speak for themselves.

“He has maintained an extremely high level of professionalism and competitiveness through his career and he is still playing at a very good level.

“We feel his leadership and experience will be valuable to the group this season and he is very hungry to contribute on and off the pitch.”

Ipswich will be back in action a week on Friday night, welcoming Sheffield United to Portman Road.

Love Island star makes emotional decision to leave UK after ’29 years of sadness’

Former Love Island star Malin Andersson has revealed that she’s “quitting the UK” revealing in an emotional reel that she had “no ties left” after “29 years of sadness”

Love Island star Malin Andersson has revealed she’s “quitting the UK”- after revealing there was “nothing left” in her hometown for her.

Malin, who rose to fame on the second season of the Love Island dating show in 2016 took to Instagram this morning to reveal the reasoning behind her decision.

The former Love Island star is currently in Portugal with her daughter Xaya, as she gave her followers an update on their living situation. “Update. Me and Xaya are in Madeira. My best friend lives here and we’re going to be here for a week before I go on my next adventure to Barcelona, because I’ll be dropping her off to see her dad for a week,” she said.

Opening up about her past, Malin spoke about how she moved from Sweden to the UK when she was three, and had been in Bedfordshire ever since. “Take away work and things like that, and your safety net becomes the town that you’re in, the people, the same faces, those same things,” she continued.

However, upon reflection Malin reaslised that there was “nothing here for me.” Emotionally opening up, the star said: “I came with a family, and I’m leaving without anyone. I don’t speak to any of my siblings, they all live separate, my parents are dead, I have no family. It’s just me and Zaya.”

The 32-year-old then revealed: “I had enough. I felt like my soul was taken out of me. I was functioning being a zombie doing the same thing. When you’ve known stress, suffering, and trauma your whole life, and just s**t, you go through the healing phase, the void, you go inwards, you isolate and then you come out. And it’s like, I need change, so that’s what I’ve done.”

Malin

Malin then explained how she had “no ties” in England whatsoever, and needed “adventure, fun, travel and joy.”

She then went on to say she was recalibrating her nervous system after “coming out of the matrix” of routine, and that there was a new life waiting for her on the other side.

“It feels surreal. I’ve got a lot of grief as well. Grieving the c**p life that I had. 29 years of sadness really. Obviously I’ve had Xaya, that’s been my highlight. But just loneliness, grief, the way I’ve been treated by people, losing my family. I guess I’m just grieving at the moment.”

In the caption, Malin wrote: “I didn’t realise until the day I decided to leave that the area we are born into is designed to keep us there… forever.

“Until we realise the more we expand and break free into the world, our external reality will reward our nervous system by expanding the abundance that’s available to us.”

Just a year after her stint in the villa, Malin tragically lost her mother to stomach cancer. Four years later, in 2022, the Love Island star announced the birth of Xaya with then boyfriend Jared. However, just weeks after Xaya’s birth, the couple decided to call it quits.

Writing on Twitter at the time, Malin said: “I have always prided myself on being open and transparent on here, so I wanted to let you all know that myself and Jared are no longer together. We split around 4 weeks ago and I have since been trying to come to terms with everything and process it all.

“We are co-parenting Xaya as she of course comes first in all of this, but we would appreciate some space as we navigate through this separation.”

Loose Women’s Nadia Sawalha opens up on ‘horrendous’ health anxiety battle in emotional video

LOOSE Women star Nadia Sawalha revealed she’s been dealing with a “horrendous” health anxiety battle.

The TV personality, 60, said she constantly overthinks that she’s going to get sick and develop a “dreadful” disease.

Nadia shared the health update with fans on her latest YouTube vlog post as she insisted her “awareness” can become “draining”.

The ITV panellist star said: “I’m always worrying that I’ve got some new and dreadful disease.

“Something will pop up on Instagram or my 17 or 21-year-old will share something with me on TikTok or a magazine and I will just obsess.

“It’s a bit like a hot and cold running buffet and I go from one dish to another and the dishes I choose to nibble on the most is dementia, petrifying, I probably today questioned, I’m really not exaggerating, probably 20 to 35 times today… been to Loose Women, been on the train, been on the bus, talked to all sorts of different people, popped into a shop, there wasn’t anything I did today, any interaction or transaction where I didn’t go ‘that was a bit weird, is that dementia?’

“It’s horrendous.

“That’s one of them. Another one breast cancer, another one bowel cancer, if you think about it those are all diseases or illnesses that there’s been fantastic work done on awareness.

“Don’t get me wrong awareness is good, lives are saved because of awareness.

“But I think I’m too aware because there are so often articles ‘don’t miss the early bloody signs’, everything seems an early sign. “

Nadia revealed she has a fears that she will catch Weil’s disease one day – a bacterial infection contracted from the urine of infected rats.

“Sometimes I allow myself to hover over a really rare thing like Weil’s disease, is caused by rats in the water, I never swim in fresh water where there’s rats, but I can literally convince myself it is something I have,” Nadia continued.

Loose Women’s Nadia Sawalha strips topless to celebrate turning 60 – as fans brand her ‘stunning’

“Skin cancer, constantly looking at moles, constantly convincing myself, oh my god, it’s so draining.”

Nadia admitted it’s “exhausting” and “wears her out” on a daily basis.

She said: “It steals the joy of life, I could be having a good time with family and then I’m like ‘I’m going to have that illness soon and I won’t be here’, and I can’t discuss it with my kids because they get mad, they’re terrified.”

Nadia added: “Another thing I get scared of is asbestos, I had a bit of it in the garden, Mark picked it up and put in the bin and I keep thinking he had a bit on him.”

ITV CUTS

Nadia’s health battle comes after she revealed she’s “devastated” after a friend and co-star was axed from the show amid the brutal ITV budget cuts.

It was recently reported that as of next year Loose Women will drop its live studio audience as part of a series of cost-cutting changes.

Now Nadia has confirmed the huge change and told how it means one of her friends will no longer have a job on the show.

Speaking in a recent YouTune with husband Mark Adderley, she said: “From next year there will be no Loose Women audience.

“I am totally devastated by this fact, I can’t get over it at all. Not only because the audience is so important for the show, but also my dear friend Lee who I work with every day.”

Comedian Lee Peart has been the Loose Women warm-up act since 2017.

An ITV source said: “While there is a proposal to not have a studio audience for Loose Women from 2026, that doesn’t necessarily mean that we’ll never have a studio audience again, it just won’t be in the same way as it is now.

“At this stage we are still exploring new ways of working and producing the show when we move to a new studio next year.”

Last month it was announced that Loose Women will air for only 30 weeks of the year from January

The shock move came as part of broader budget reductions across the channel, which also included halving Lorraine’s airtime to 30 minutes and airing it only during school term time.

Emmerdale double exit sealed in Aaron storyline as star reveals all on emotional scenes

Could a double exit be on the cards as John Sugden continues to struggle with what he has done to Nate and others, and Aaron starts to feel regret over his liaison with ex Robert?

Robert and Aaron finally give in to their feelings

Emmerdale star Ryan Hawley has teased a double exit in a new storyline. Robert Sugden made his return to the village a few weeks back and it has been quite the dramatic few weeks involving his love Aaron Dingle.

Viewers know John Sugden – Aaron’s new husband – is a serial killer and only wants bad things for the village and its residents. Robert is onto him – but no one believes him, with everyone convinced John is such a nice guy.

Next week, Aaron and Robert give into temptation – and it’s clear Aaron still has feelings for his ex. But will he manage to convince Aaron to change his mind and stay in the village – or leave with John? It comes after a Coronation Street and Mrs Brown’s Boys actor dies after short illness.

Robert and Aaron share a moment of passion

Asked how Robert will react when he finds out that Aaron and John are leaving the village, he said: “He will be devastated, obviously. Robert came back to the village for Aaron, really. He’d be devastated – it was his reason to come back. He will be very worried about Aaron’s safety, but at the same time, I think at this point, maybe he’s starting to doubt whether or not he’s right about John.

“Maybe John’s gaslighting and manipulation’s got through to him. Because everyone’s saying the same things to Robert, that he’s wrong about John and that he’s just jealous.”

It has been a tough return to the village for Robert – who has been shunned by pretty much everyone over his behaviour with John and his hope of breaking things off between the village hero and Aaron Dingle.

Robert and John don't see eye to eye

“Everyone’s moved on and Aaron’s moved on and there’s a happy equilibrium it seems that Aaron’s found in his relationship with John. And I guess that Paddy and people care about him. Chas, they’re all riled to see Robert’s back because they know that that will kind of disrupt that. He’s unanimously looked down on. Well, actually, except for people like Caleb,” he said.

“Caleb gives him a chance as does Moira, Moira gives him a chance, but yeah, it turns out that Robert of double crosses her and betrays Moira. Victoria’s kind of the only one that’s really there and caring for him and supporting him and trying to help him through.”

Whatever happens next, Ryan warned there would be some exciting scenes ahead. He shared: “I’m genuinely excited about the year that we’ve got ahead. I think the show’s in a great place at the moment.

“I think the next year, the kind of the story arc that I’ve been told, I’m really interested in and really excited about. And the Corrie Dale, the crossover, that’s going to be a great a great week for both shows.”

We Were Liars star Caitlin Fitzgerald reacts to TikTok videos of fans sobbing at emotional finale

We Were Liars left Prime Video subscribers distraught in the last few moments of its agonising finale.

WARNING: This article contains spoilers from We Were Liars.

We Were Liars star Caitlin Fitzgerald has addressed fans’ emotional TikTok videos as they film themselves reacting to the drama’s final episode.

Based on author E. Lockhart’s novel of the same name, We Were Liars revolves around the extraordinarily rich Sinclair family who spend their summers at their private island off the coast of Massachusetts.

One summer, Cadence Sinclair (played by Emily Alyn Lind) was involved in an incident that she can remember nothing about and no one will tell her what happened.

But it was the last episode of the Prime Video drama where her world really came crashing down when she discovers that she and her cousins Johnny (Joseph Zada) and Mirren Sinclair (Esther McGregor) and family friend Gat Patil (Shubham Maheshwari) set the mansion on fire.

In a devastating turn of events though, Cadence was the only one who was able to get out in time with Johnny, Mirren and Gat all dying in the blaze.

We Were Liars is based on the best-selling book of the same name by author E. Lockhart.

Throughout the series, Cadence had simply been imagining her friends were by her side, and was beside herself when she realised the truth.

Understandably, subscribers who hadn’t read the book were shocked, with an ongoing TikTok trend of fans filming themselves sobbing at the finale.

When Screen Time spoke to Penny Sinclair star Caitlin Fitzgerald about the reaction on social media, she admitted she wasn’t surprised.

“I always feel like I have to slightly apologise for what we put you through with that show. It’s a rough ride”, Fitzgerald laughs.

“A few years after the book came out during Covid, there was a similar kind of reading the last chapter and filming yourself weeping.

“So I was somewhat prepared for it but we knew because we couldn’t get through the script.”

We Were Liars' Cadence Sinclair is played by actress Emily Alyn Lind.

Fitzgerald continues: “We did a read through of the final episode and all of us were beside ourselves.

“Even David Morrissey who is quite a stoic guy, was just like ‘give me a second’, had to kind of compose himself.

“And we knew what was coming so I can only imagine what it was like the first go around if you didn’t know.”

An official renewal hasn’t been given to We Were Liars just yet but there are talks of a prequel in the works, based on Lockhart’s novel Family of Liars.

So fans are just going to have to wait for now to find out if there will be more on the way from the Sinclair family.

We Were Liars is available to watch on Prime Video.

BBC announce emotional tribute to The Vivienne – seven months after death

The BBC have announced that they are set to honour late Drag Race legend The Vivienne just months after the telly star tragically died aged 32

The Vivienne will be honoured in a special BBC programme, seven months after they died. The RuPaul’s Drag Race UK legend tragically died aged 32 in January this year, following a cardiac arrest due to ketamine use.

Now, seven months after the death of the Colwyn Bay-born star, the BBC have announced a special show, Dear Viv, to pay tribute. The Vivenne became the first star to win the UK edition of the programme in 2019, instantly becoming a fan favourite across the globe.

The project, which has the full backing of The Viv’s friends and family, will celebrate their journey from North Wales and Liverpool to the international stage. The film will delve into archive interviews, family photographs, family videos and unseen behind-the-scenes clips taken from the Drag Race archive.

Dear Viv will honour the late Drag Race UK legend

Elsewhere, it will also follow The Vivenne, whose real name was James Lee Williams, as a young child and their rise to becoming one of the UK’s most famous drag queens, including their experience on Dancing On Ice and becoming the first-ever winner of RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars and their journey to West End fame as the Wicked Witch of the West in the Wizard of Oz.

James’ parents and sister also share a touching tribute, alongside friends including Baga Chipz, Danny Beard, Tia Kofi, Cheryl Hole, and Trinity Truck. In the project, The Vivenne was described as a “world-class entertainer” and “an inspiration, mentor, and a teacher.”

But it will also touch on The Vivienne‘s struggles with ketamine addiction. Chanel Williams, James’ sister, has since become a campaigner and raises awareness around the dangers of the drug, which is a Class B substance in the UK.

Speaking about the production, Nasfim Haque, Head of Content for BBC Three, said: “Dear Viv is a fitting tribute to The Vivienne, who truly was a trailblazer in the world of drag. She showcased her artistry and talent brilliantly and paved the way for many to follow in her footsteps.”

Meanwhile, Fenton Bailey and Randy Barbato, co-founders of production firm World of Wonder, which also produces Drag Race said: “We wanted to celebrate The Vivienne and not just mourn her. Although she left us far too soon, her life was defined by her breathtaking talent, scene-stealing charisma, and infinite kindness.

“We hope her vision and her voice shine through in Dear Viv and that it inspires everyone who watches it. Although producing it was bittersweet, we are so grateful to friends and family for trusting us to tell The Vivienne’s story. Above all, we hope Viv loves the film as much as we loved her.”

On January 6, officers from Cheshire Police said officers had been called to an address in Chorlton-by-Backford, near Chester, on the previous day following reports of a sudden death. A coroner ruled that on the balance of probabilities, it is likely that The Vivienne died on the Friday and was not found and pronounced until the Sunday.

Dear Viv will be available from Thursday 28 August on BBC Three and Player

Frank offers confidential advice about drugs and addiction (email [email protected], message 82111 or call 0300 123 6600) or the NHS has information about getting help.

After one of the most dramatic weeks in the Love Island villa, Harrison and Lauren reunited in an emotional episode of After Sun following their shock departures. Footballer Harrison Solomon, 22, shocked viewers by dramatically quitting the show, just one day after Lauren Wood, 26, was brutally dumped following a bombshell recoupling twist.

The couple looked smitten to be back together as Harrison revealed “We aren’t boyfriend and girlfriend but we will get there very soon”. Reflecting on his time in the villa, Harrison said he was ‘upset’ that Lauren was so down after Toni chose him to recouple with, despite asking Toni to choose him.

Harrison said he and Lauren still ‘gravitated’ towards one another, stating: “Spending the last two days with Toni made me realise Lauren was the one for me”. Harrison said his feelings for Tony haven’t ‘disappeared’ but he knew the relationship ‘wasn’t right’ for him.

Sitting next to Lauren on the After Sun sofa, he said: “I am so happy with my decision”, while Lauren said: “I feel like him leaving the villa showed me everything I needed to know. It was a big decision to make”.

Reflecting on her relationship with Toni, Lauren said: “I had no issue with her from the beginning. I feel like Harrison was the problem in this situation, I have nothing against her”. When host Maya Jama asked what is next for the sweet couple, Harrison said: “We just wanna spend some time together, go on a few dates, get to know each other away from the cameras and microphones.”

Lauren’s exit came after her partner, Ty, was coupled with new arrival Angel, leaving her single and dumped from the island. The dumping came as a shock to all islanders, especially Harrison, who was in a couple with American bombshell Toni at the time.

After reading out the text, Lauren broke down to tears and pleaded with Harrison to leave the villa with her. During a private chat, Harrison asked Lauren if she was willing to give it another go, to which Lauren said she would if he left with her.

The boys told him to sleep on it and not make any rash decisions, so Harrison decided to stay for the night. The next day, Harrison confided in Harry and Dejon, saying he’d made his mind up and wanted to make Lauren his girlfriend on the outside.

He then gathered the rest of the Islanders around the firepit, as he said an emotional goodbye.

In an emotional speech, Harrison said: “Prior to the Villa I wanted to find a girlfriend, someone I want to introduce to my family, and I think I’ve found that…. Mine and Lauren’s connection was something special. I wanted to stay true to myself and follow my heart.”

He added: “I just wanted to see thank you all for making this crazy experience the best one of my life.”

The drama over the previous days had been intense as Harrison navigated a divisive love triangle with Lauren and fellow islander Toni Laites, juggling both women romantically but ultimately deciding that Lauren was the girl for him.

Euro 2025: England win on penalties – how dramatic and emotional shootout played out

Sweden 0-1 England (penalty one)

England won the toss, benefitting from a shootout in front of their own fans and took the first penalty.

Up stepped Alessia Russo, the Lionesses’ trusty goal threat. Jennifer Falk dived the right way, but her powerful effort never looked like being stopped.

“Russo has left nothing on the pitch so to strike that as sweetly as she did – Falk went the right way, nowhere near it,” former England goalkeeper Rachel Brown-Finnis said on BBC One.

Sweden 0-1 England (penalty two)

Hampton stood on the line, her nose bloodied from a collision in the final moments of extra time.

Filippa Angeldahl took the first kick for Sweden and sent it towards the right but Hampton got her hands to it.

“She’s done her homework,” reacted Brown-Finnis. Hampton knew exactly where to go.

Sweden 0-1 England (penalty three)

England couldn’t make the most of their advantage.

Lauren James tried to place her effort in the bottom left corner but Falk palmed it away.

Sweden 1-1 England (penalty four)

Sweden issued the perfect response. “Emphatic, beautifully struck,” said Brown-Finnis.

Julia Zigiotti Olme showed no nerves and left Hampton with no chance. Her well-struck spot-kick went into the top corner and Sweden levelled.

Sweden 1-1 England (penalty five)

Were emotions not already running high enough, England fans were soon made even more anxious.

Beth Mead went for the same place as James and faced the same result – Falk saved. “It’s a cushty height for the goalkeeper,” said Brown-Finnis.

Sweden 1-1 England (penalty six)

From a moment of agony to sudden hope.

Magdalena Eriksson had the chance to put Sweden in front. Instead, her effort bounced off the far post.

Sweden 1-1 England (penalty seven)

By this point, Falk was beginning to look like Sweden’s saviour.

Alex Greenwood sent her penalty down the middle. Falk dived, the ball hit her and it bounced back out.

Three of the Lionesses’ four penalties saved.

Sweden 2-1 England (penalty eight)

Nathalie Bjorn put Sweden on the verge of victory, beating her Chelsea team-mate Hampton.

England had to score their next.

Sweden 2-2 England (penalty nine)

Who better than the player who had netted the winning kick in each of England’s other two shootouts under Wiegman to deliver when needed?

Chloe Kelly produced her trademark run-up, with a hop and a skip before firing past Falk.

“What a night she is having,” said BBC commentator Robyn Cowen.

Kelly had delivered the assist for England’s first goal, then the vital cross which led to their second. Now, she’d kept their hopes of a shootout victory alive.

Sweden 2-2 England (penalty 10)

Stepping up to take Sweden’s fifth penalty, to put them into the semi-finals, was none other than keeper Falk.

She had already saved three, taking one as well was “just being greedy,” said Brown-Finnis.

The Sweden goalkeeper could not produce another moment of jubilation for the her supporters and skied her kick over the bar.

Sweden 2-2 England (penalty 11)

Surely, after yet another miss, England would respond?

Not this time. Grace Clinton’s weak effort rolled to the left which Falk easily saved.

By this point, it looked like the shootout might never end. “I can’t believe how many penalties we’ve missed,” said Brown-Finnis.

Sweden 2-2 England (penalty 12)

Sweden once again had the opportunity to win the match. Sofia Jakobsson placed the ball on the spot with just four of the 12 penalties before her having been scored.

She also went to the left, but Hampton tipped it onto the post with her outstretched hand.

“These are cats with nine lives, the Lionesses,” Brown-Finnis said.

Sweden 2-3 England (penalty 13)

England’s most decorated player stepped up for the big moment.

Bronze had no intention of wasting her chance and delivered the perfect penalty, thrashing it down the middle as Falk dived to the right.

The Lionesses have talked throughout this tournament about producing “proper English” performances – and Bronze’s penalty was an “old school Stuart Pearce type” of kick, said Brown-Finnis.

She added: “Full of passion, full of heart, no nonsense penalty right into the roof of the net. Great strike, great player, great time.”

Sweden 2-3 England (Smilla Holmberg misses, England win)

Sweden had to score to keep their hopes alive. The job fell to 18-year-old Smilla Holmberg to try to level.

Holmberg didn’t even hit the target. She sent her strike soaring over the crossbar. The English players ran off in celebration.

The Lionesses were through.

Bad Bunny urges Puerto Ricans to own their rhythm in emotional hometown show

A young woman emerged from the dark into a green and bushy clearing. Under the faux moonlight, she wandered the stage, speaking to herself. “Where’s my camera? I can’t believe I lost it. All my memories were there,” she said with a pang of panic in her voice.

Moments later, a young man surfaced from the same spot. His eyes scanned the area as well, with a pained look on his face. “Have you seen my drums?” When he plays his drums his heart races, he explained; his people feel joy, and the living, the dead and even the stars dance. “It’s like all our memories are there too,” he said.

With this poignant intro, Bad Bunny kicked off the “locals only” opening night of his 30-show residency in San Juan — which, for the first three weekends, will only be accessible to those who can show proof of their residence in Puerto Rico.

Taking place each weekend at the José Miguel Agrelot Coliseum, affectionately referred to as El Choli by locals, the concert series revolves around his latest album, “Debí Tirar Más Fotos,” and was advertised with name “No me quiero ir de aquí,” which translates to “I don’t want to leave here.” It’s a refrain that’s been associated with the artist since he used it as a lyric in his 2022 ode to his homeland, “El Apagón,” and he considers it still resonant today.

A celebration of Puerto Rican identity, a fighting spirit shaped indelibly by its music and history, “Debí Tirar Más Fotos” also urges its listeners that time is not to be taken for granted, and the past, present and future are not just distinct phases but one whole, inextricably tied together.

Fans that flocked to the opening weekend concerts were treated to Benito at the apex of his talents, not to mention his stamina. For three hours and over 35 songs, he danced, strutted and sang to the approving roar of over 15,000 in attendance. The show opened with rumbles of bomba y plena, and an unreleased track that got the crowd buzzing — followed by popular recent bangers like “Ketu Tecré,” “El Clúb” and “Pitorro de Coco.” He then regaled the crowd with a catwalk performance of “Kloufrens” and “Weltita,” which featured an appearance by Chuwi, the beloved tropical jazz quartet from Isabela.

The two stages were grandiose, both in size and production quality. The main stage was a reproduction of a hill, made to approximate the lush foliage found in Puerto Rico’s rainforest and central hillside towns. On one side, you could spy the two iconic Monobloc chairs from the album’s cover, and on the other, a flamboyán tree blossoming with red flowers. On the opposite end of the coliseum’s arena was a pristine pink vacation home, built to mirror the one from the short film that debuted along with the album.

That film introduced the characters of Old Man, played by acclaimed Puerto Rican filmmaker Jacobo Morales, and Concho, the sweet-natured Puerto Rican crested toad voiced by Kenneth Canales, which was brought to life by the stop-motion work of Quique Rivera. The two unlikely housemates returned in two new vignettes shown at the concert, in which they live in a cabin in the middle of snowy woods. Concho misses the Caribbean warmth, and feels very far away from home. A kind Morales reminds him: “We’re Puerto Rican no matter where we are, and even from afar we defend what’s ours.”

Remember, he says while looking straight at the camera, Puerto Rico is “the real calentón.” This cued a barrage of images that flashed across the screen, showing photos of historic protests and civil disobedience carried out over the decades by revolutionary Puerto Ricans.

Benito reappeared under the flamboyán tree, where he was joined by guitarist Antonio Caraballo. Here, we got some of his lovelorn “Sad Bunny” persona as they reinterpreted acoustic versions of older hits like “Si Estuviésemos Juntos,” “Ni Bien Ni Mal” and “Amorfoda” before ending with “Turista.” All the while, Benito waxed philosophically to the audience, commiserating about matters of the heart.

From here, the action swiftly moved from the countryside to the pink house which suddenly filled with dancers in club wear — and Benito’s longtime tour DJ Orma. Those craving a rowdy perreo party got their wish, as his salsa-dembow hybrid track “Nuevayol” launched a 16-song stretch of frenzied, sweaty reggaeton and trap bops. Bouncing feverishly from “Titi Me Preguntó” and “La Jumpa” to “Yo Perreo Sola” and “Efecto,” Benito transformed the coliseum into a nightclub.

Among the guests that night were none other than basketball legend LeBron James, Golden State champion Draymond Green and UnitedMasters CEO (and one of the most influential men in Black culture and business) Steve Stoute.

James and Benito have a friendship going back several years, and it’s hard to blame the superstar for wanting to hang with his pal — even if said pal is an American — during a concert by an artist who is not really vibing with the United States right now. But then again, if the home we see on stage is supposed to represent an Airbnb owned by non-Puerto Ricans — which is what was narratively implied — Benito might as well flex and bring in some elite gringos. Chants of “MVP! MVP!” rang out at one point, provoking the four-time NBA champion to throw up a hand heart gesture to the crowd. It’s all love.

That being said: “LeBron James sat on an air conditioner and danced while Bad Bunny sang ‘Safaera’” is a ridiculous Mad Libs sentence that actually happened.

As he paced from side to side on the house’s rooftop, Benito would again touch on the topic of time. “You get so caught up in the euphoria of the moment that you forget to appreciate the present,” he said. He asked the crowd to put their phones away and focus on the next song, and on whoever is accompanying them, or even someone across the aisle who has caught their eye. “This is the moment to act,” he added, and ask them for a dance, just before the thrust of “Eoo,” made famous from his sensual Calvin Klein underwear ad, got the whole building quaking.

Puerto Rican plena ensemble Los Pleneros de la Cresta appeared to interpret “Café Con Ron,” as well as one of their own songs, “Ábreme Paso,” which gave way to a second video vignette. It showed Morales’ Old Man leaving the cabin and trudging through a snowstorm, until he ran into Benito’s musical director Julito Gastón — the young man from the opening skit — sitting behind his drum. As they lock eyes, Morales leaves him with a word of advice that’s not just about the music, but the core of his being: “Never stop playing your drums.”

Bad Bunny resurfaced, looking a bit more subdued. He spoke softly, but sternly, about Puerto Rico and its struggle against gentrification and government neglect. “We have to protect this land,” he said. “We have to protect what’s ours if we want our children to make a life here.” He followed it up by crooning “Lo Que Le Pasó A Hawaii,” the solemn décima all about how the archipelago is being threatened existentially.

An animated crash course in salsa history, narrated by Néstor Galán, set the scene for Benito’s touring live band, Los Sobrinos to assemble. Dressed in a vintage ‘70s garb of a Fania bandleader, Benito led the group into the last and most rousing part of the concert: a salsa reimagining of “Callaíta,” which gave way to to “Baile Inolvidable” and “Dtmf.” The crowd leapt to their feet, twirling and stepping to the rhythms.

Before he launched into the opening freestyle of “La Mudanza” he paused to gather himself; he took off his sunglasses to reveal his eyes had welled up with tears and gratefulness. As the image of a giant Puerto Rican flag graced the ceiling, he motioned for everyone to sing and scream the final lyrics in unison: “Nobody’s taking me from here, I’m not moving anywhere, tell ‘em this is my home, where my grandfather was born, I’m from P f—in’ R!”

In the lead-up to last year’s gubernatorial elections, Bad Bunny spent hundreds of thousands of his own money buying ad space on billboards across Puerto Rico urging its citizens to not vote for the ruling party, accusing them of being the main culprits of the island’s woes. The ads consisted of a simple, white text on a black background. In the end, the same party that has led since 2017 won reelection; and since then, the current governor, Republican Party member Jenniffer González-Colón, has only continued to be mired in controversy.

When entering the concert area, the large screens over the main stage showed one message with white letters on a black background: “Yo Te Lo Dije,” or “I Told You So.” When the show was over and everyone began to trickle out, a new message appeared, recognizable to all: “No Me Quiero Ir De Aquí.”

With his residency, Bad Bunny issues a rallying cry for Puerto Ricans: Act now. Change the future, so that you don’t regret the past. And most importantly, never stop playing your drums.

Oti Mabuse breaks down in tears on Loose Women panel after emotional family revelation

Oti Mabuse was seen getting emotional on the Loose Women panel earlier today, as she reminisced on her time on the TV show DNA journey with her sister Motsi

Oti Mabuse broke down in tears on today’s episode of Loose Women as she spoke about her emotional journey on the show, DNA Journey.

During the episode of the ITV show, which aired in 2023, Oti and Motsi Mabuse explored their family history in South Africa, in which they discovered a WWII connection.

Their grandfather, Paulus Mabuse, fought for the British in the Native Military Corps during the war. During the ITV daytime show, Oti revisited a clip of herself and her sister Motsi when they found out, which moved her to tears.

In the clip, Oti and Motsi were seen breaking down in tears when they were given medals their grandfather received for his work in the armed forces.

Oti
Oti Mabuse broke down in tears as she reminisced about her time on ITV’s DNA Journey

‘It’s a good thing, it’s an amazing thing. Please don’t think we’re sad. One of the missing pieces that we’ve missed and needed to hear for so long, it’s a beautiful thing. We’re so grateful. These are tears of, “Oh my God!”‘

The pair said they had “no idea” that there were war medals in their family, as they learnt their grandfather fought for the British in World War II. Oti revealed that her grandfather, along with many others were promised land. However, they were relocated and left in the middle of nowhere.

Oti said it made her feel “horrendous” as she said both her and Motsi cried their make-up off. However, she said they felt liberated knowing where they come from. “Now I know that I’m a granddaughter of a soldier,” she told the panel, before the clip was played.

As they cut back to the studio after the clip was played, Oti wiped away he tears as she said: “It’s moving.

“Also, I think that we tried to look for something, we didn’t wait for the show to come to us. We also asked our parents, and you can see the generational trauma that it causes.

Oti and Motsi

“My dad didn’t speak to his dad and so he didn’t know. All that they knew is maybe they drank, they went to the mine, and then they died. He didn’t know that his life served a purpose and he helped save the world.

“We’re here because of people like our grandad, and it means the world to us.”

Speaking on her experience on Loose Women, Oti said it was the “best show” she’d ever done. “It gave me something personally back. Our history in South Africa is really rough. Specifically with my family it was wiped out, so we had no way of getting any information.”

Tonight, Sam Thompson and Marvin Humes will be taking part in the ITV show to discover their family history. In the episode, the duo start off in Jamaica. There, JLS star Marvin finds out that his Great Grandma Blanche was not actually married to his Great Grandfather David James.

They had four children, but immediately after the fourth, Marvin’s Grandma Ruby, was born in 1930, David James left.

Meanwhile, Sam flies into a panic when he is told he has an ancestor who spent time in Jamaica. “It doesn’t sounds good, don’t say it..” he says. However, he is relieved to learn there is no slavery connection.

It comes after Sam admits to Marvin that he knew “nothing” about his family history before taking part in the show.
