Emails reveal that UCLA and SoFi Stadium talks date back to 2024

New documents filed Friday in the Rose Bowl’s breach-of-contract case against UCLA that also accuses Kroenke Sports and Entertainment of meddling on behalf of SoFi Stadium revealed communication between UCLA and a top Kroenke executive dating back as far as August 2024.

An email sent that month from UCLA chief financial officer Stephen Agostini’s assistant to executives from Kroenke Sports and Entertainment and SoFi Stadium sought coordination of a Zoom meeting between the parties in September 2024 under the subject heading “UCLA Football Discussion.” The importance level was listed as “high.”

A list of proposed meeting attendees included Agostini; UCLA athletic director Martin Jarmond; UCLA athletics chief financial officer Chris Iacoi; Kroenke Sports and Rams president Kevin Demoff; SoFi Stadium executives Greg Kish and Mike Forrester; and Mitchell Ziets, chief executive officer of Tipping Point Sports, a boutique sports advisory firm based in New Jersey.

“Please review the scheduling opportunities below and let me know what is possible,” wrote Shelley Stanley, Agostini’s executive assistant. “A reply sooner rather than later would be greatly appreciated, given that we are on the heels of the Fall quarter and the beginning of the UCLA football season.”

A subsequent email sent by Demoff to Agostini in late September 2024 under the subject heading “Next Get Together” inquired about another meeting.

“Steve,” Demoff wrote in the email, “I figured with all of the changes/craziness that I would give the group some time, but let me know when is a good time to get our teams together to go back through and financials/pro formas related to SoFi in order to help moving things along. Next week is poor for me personally but we are ready to jump in!”

As part of another email exchange between Demoff and Agostini in December 2024 under the subject heading “Updated Projections,” Demoff wrote that he “had our group re-run everything to really focus on reducing expenses and where we think there is opportunity for UCLA to grow revenue. Attached is the deck that they have provided. I’ve been scrambling all week between LA, Denver, Dallas and now NYC and haven’t had a ton of opportunity to connect on the phone, but wanted to share this with you ahead of the holidays so that you can start to dig in.”

In an email timestamped 13 minutes later, Agostini replied that he would “look at this now.”

The attachment that Demoff referenced was not included as part of the discovery documents related to the ongoing dispute between UCLA and the Rose Bowl Operating Co. and the City of Pasadena. The latter entities are trying to force the school to honor the terms of a lease agreement that does not include an opt-out clause and requires the Bruins to keep playing at the Rose Bowl through the end of the 2043 season.

The plaintiffs have alleged that UCLA abandoning the Rose Bowl, where the school has played home football games since 1982, would cause “irreparable harm necessitating equitable relief and for which monetary damages alone would be inadequate.”

According to court documents, the City of Pasadena faced $184,355,000 in outstanding debt on bonds issued to finance stadium modernization and renovations as of last June. Revenue from UCLA football games has been used to service the debt as part of the agreement between the entities, ensuring that Pasadena taxpayers would not be burdened with that expense through withdrawals from a general fund used to support city services.

The Rose Bowl is also expected to spend at least $28.5 million before the 2026 season to construct a field-level club in the south end zone that would enhance UCLA’s game-day experience and generate revenue for the school.

Meanwhile, UCLA’s athletic department is seeking new sources of revenue after running up $219.55 million in debt during the past six fiscal years, though an athletic department spokesperson has said that deficit has been covered by the university, bringing the balance to zero.

UCLA has not publicly stated its intentions for its football future other than to say it continues to evaluate its options. But the new documents show that the school has been contemplating the possibility of a move for more than a year.

Last month, Kroenke Sports and Entertainment and SoFi Stadium were added as defendants to the Rose Bowl’s complaint against UCLA and accused of tortious interference. UCLA and SoFi Stadium officials have said they would not comment on ongoing litigation.

A hearing on UCLA’s motion to compel arbitration and keep the proceedings out of open court is set to be heard Jan. 22 in Los Angeles Superior Court.

Bridgerton season 4 release date, cast and trailer as star opens up on ‘obstacles’

Netflix splits Bridgerton season 4 into two parts as Benedict Bridgerton takes centre stage

The fourth instalment of Netflix’s sizzling period drama, Bridgerton, is on the horizon, and fans are eagerly awaiting the romantic journey of Benedict Bridgerton (Luke Thompson) as he falls for the enigmatic Sophie (Yerin Ha). Despite his mother, Lady Violet’s (Ruth Gemmell), persistent appeals, Benedict, being the second son, has resisted settling down.

However, everything changes at his mother’s masquerade ball when Benedict becomes captivated by a mysterious Lady in Silver. He enlists the help of his somewhat reluctant sister, Eloise (Claudia Jessie), to unmask the identity of this intriguing woman. In an unexpected twist, Sophie Baek is actually employed as a resourceful maid for Araminta Gun (Katie Leung). When Benedict and Sophie cross paths again, he remains oblivious that she is his elusive Lady in Silver.

He finds himself caught between his genuine feelings for the captivating maid and his fantasy of the masked lady. The official synopsis teases: “Will Benedict’s inability to see these women as one and the same derail the undeniable spark between him and Sophie? And can love truly conquer anything – even a cross-class connection forbidden by society?” The upcoming season draws inspiration from Julia Quinn’s novel, An Offer From a Gentleman, hailed as a unique take on the Cinderella tale.

Here’s everything you need to know about the fourth season, including its release date, episode count, and cast.

When is Bridgerton season 4 out?

Bridgerton’s fourth season has been divided into two parts, set to air on separate dates on Netflix. The first part will be released globally on January 29, with the second part following on February 26. This means that die-hard fans will have to endure a month-long wait between the two parts. Netflix typically releases new titles at midnight in the US and at 8am in the UK.

Netflix’s Tudum has announced a live stream event on January 14, which will include an early screening of the first episode and red carpet coverage of the global premiere in Paris.

How many episodes are in Bridgerton season 4?

Each part will consist of four episodes, making up a total of eight episodes for the fourth season. Based on previous seasons, each episode is expected to run for approximately an hour. The series is exclusively available on Netflix, meaning viewers won’t be able to catch the new episodes on any other platform.

Benedict actor Thompson teased: “The storyline is a bit of a twist on Cinderella. You remember being told those stories as a child — the magic and the romance of them. It’s really exciting to have that weaved into the world that we know of Bridgerton … It’s such a great story, but it’s also, I hope, really relatable.”

Who is in the cast of Bridgerton season 4?

Season four will introduce several new characters, including Lady Araminta Gun, portrayed by Katie Leung. Lady Gun is a twice-widowed mother of two daughters, who is eager to see at least one of them wed. Katie Leung, a 38 year old British actress, is best known for her role as Cho Chang, Harry Potter‘s first love interest, in the Harry Potter film series.

Rosamund Li is portrayed by Michelle Mao, with her character being Araminta’s eldest daughter and most treasured child. Michelle Mao is a 27 year old actress who has previously appeared in Surfside Girls and Morgan’s Secret. Posy Li is brought to life by Isabella Wei, whose character serves as Rosamund’s younger, more compassionate sister, described as talkative and excessively welcoming. Isabella Wei is a 21 year old actress and dancer from Hong Kong, recognised for her performances in the Netflix series 1899 and Black Doves.

The entire main cast will be reprising their roles, including Jonathan Bailey as Anthony Bridgerton, Simone Ashley as Kate Bridgerton and Adjoa Andoh as Lady Danbury. Two previous stars have also been promoted to series regulars – Emma Naomi as Alice Mondrich and Hugh Sachs as Brimsley.

Finally, Yerin Ha joins as leading lady Sophie, and she opened up about her latest role, sharing: “What drew me to Sophie was that she immediately has obstacles — something that she constantly has to overcome. Whether it’s this battle around social status or trying to hide her feelings from Benedict.”

Is there a trailer for Bridgerton season 4?

The official trailer for season four dropped over Christmas, sparking criticism from fans as Anthony and Kate were “missing” from the preview.

One frustrated viewer posted on X, formerly Twitter, writing: “Clearly we understand Kathony [Kate and Anthony] had their season… but it truly doesn’t make sense that the VISCOUNT and VISCOUNTESS Bridgerton, the literal HEADS of the household, are nowhere to be seen Imao.”

The fresh teaser unveils Penelope Featherington, played by Nicola Coughlan, teaming up with Queen Charlotte, portrayed by Golda Rosheuvel, following the revelation of her secret identity as Lady Whistledown. Concurrently, Sophie’s Cinderella-esque scene unfolds as she is compelled to make a hasty exit from the ball at midnight, leaving Benedict in the dark.

The trailer also spotlights the complex relationship between Benedict and his mother, showcasing his struggle between fulfilling her aspirations and pursuing his own dreams.

Bridgerton season 4, part 1 premieres on Netflix on January 29, followed by part 2 on February 26.

Malcolm in the Middle Life’s Still Unfair release date announced in first look

Here’s where you’ll be able to stream the new episodes of the Malcolm in the Middle reboot.

A new trailer has given fans the first look at the Malcolm in the Middle sequel series, confirming the new show’s release date.

Titled Malcolm in the Middle: Life’s Still Unfair, the special four-episode event will see the majority of the cast reunite almost two decades later. The original series lasted for seven seasons between 2000 and 2006.

Over the years, the series followed Malcolm, a bright and intelligent boy, who had to put up with the rest of his dysfunctional family, including his quirky parents, and three older brothers. All while dealing with the troubles of being the middle child and a teenager.

Frankie Muniz, whose acting career began with the series, is set to reprise his role as Malcolm. Alongside him will be Justin Berfield and Christopher Masterson who are also returning as two of his brothers, Reece and Francis respectively.

Bryan Cranston, who went on to star in hit drama Breaking Bad once the show ended will also make his comeback as father Hal, with Jane Kaczmarek returning as strict matriarch Lois.

The first trailer has confirmed a number of other familiar faces will be returning to our screens for the reboot. This includes, Gary Anthony Williams as Abe Kenarban, a friend of Hal’s and father of Malcolm’s mate Stevie. There’s also Emy Coligado as Francis’ wife Piama.

One original cast member who is not returning is former child actor Erik Per Sullivan, who played Malcolm’s younger sibling Dewey. The star has since quit acting and is now studying for a masters degree at Harvard. His character has since been recast.

According to the synopsis for the sequel series, Malcom has successfully been shielding himself from his family for over a decade. However, he along with his own wife and daughter end up dragged back into their orbit when Hal and Lois demand his presence at their 40th anniversary party. Judging by the short clips shown in the trailer, very little is set to go as planned leading up to the big event.

The original series is held in high regard by those who remember it fondly, with an impressive 90% fan score on Rotten Tomatoes. Indeed some mention how they still binge watch the older show regularly and so the sequel will need to meet high expectations.

Fans did not take long to share their thoughts about the trailer, which also confirmed the release date of April 16. All episodes will be made available to stream on Disney Plus, via the Hulu brand.

One fan commented: “One of my most rewatched shows. I hope there’s more seasons or something after Life’s Still Unfair.”

Another added: “It’s good that everyone is still the same character personality wise, I thought they’d change the tone because they’re all older but looks like the original.”

“Used to watch the original all the time with my own dysfunctional family! Honestly it’s nice seeing everyone doing their thing again,” someone else replied, while one fan hoped: “Please be good please be good. The original creators are involved so I have faith!”

And there were some doubts, as a fan said: “Doesn’t look to be shot in the same way as the rest of the series. That could go against this… Hopefully the writing is just as good though.”

ITV is starting the year with a bang, bringing back its popular original thriller Red Eye. Creator Peter A Dowling and director Kieron Moore are teaming up again for a fresh story that once more puts DC Hana Li (Jing Lusi) and MI5 director-general Madeline Delaney (Lesley Sharp) in serious jeopardy.

The first series centred on the spine-chilling events on an extradition flight to China, where an alleged murderer was embroiled in a complicated international conspiracy.

This latest chapter builds on those global political tensions, splitting time between a besieged US Embassy in London and a rigged flight back to the English capital.

If you’re excited to tune into Red Eye season 2 on ITV1 and ITVX, read on for everything you need to know about the show’s return.

Red Eye season 2 release date

Red Eye season 2 cast: New and returning

Red Eye season 2 welcomes back Jing Lusi as DC Hana Li, who spent the first series untangling a complex conspiracy on a dangerous flight to China.

Lesley Sharp is back in action as Madeline Delaney, now the director general of MI5, who finds herself in a precarious situation on an overseas flight in season 2, mirroring Hana’s ordeal from the first series.

Other familiar faces include Jemma Moore (Lockwood & Co.) reprising her role as Hana’s sister Jess, a fearless journalist, and Robert Gilbert (Bergerac) returning as her boss, Superintendent Simon O’Brian. Notably missing is Richard Armitage as Dr Matthew Nolan, with Line of Duty’s Martin Compston stepping in to fill his shoes as Lusi’s male co-lead, playing US Embassy security chief Clay Brody.

In summary, here’s an overview of the Red Eye season 2 cast:

  • Nicholas Rowe as DSEC Alex Peterson
  • Trevor White as US Ambassador Ronald Tillman

  • Danusia Samal as Captain Sarah Wright
  • Guy Williams as Air Marshal John Johnson

Red Eye season 2 plot: What is it about?

Red Eye season 2 once again divides its attention between another endangered flight and events unfolding on the ground, but this time around, Hana Li is grounded while Madeline Delaney is trapped thousands of feet in the air.

The synopsis reads: “Inside the US Embassy, the celebrations for a newly appointed US Ambassador to London are shattered when a call, threatening to blow a British plane out of the sky if anyone leaves, triggers an immediate embassy lockdown, trapping guests and staff inside.

“And that’s when the murders begin, landing Hana Li, as a British cop, in a political and jurisdictional nightmare. Compelled to join forces with the Head of Embassy Security, Clay Brody, played by Martin Compston, a former colleague who once screwed her over, Hana has to see her way past her distrust of him and focus on the investigation.

“Because this time it’s personal: The plane that will be blown up is a government jet, and Director General Madeline Delaney is onboard.”

Red Eye season 1 is available to stream on ITVX. Season 2 premieres on New Year’s Day 2026.

Emmerdale’s Celia and Ray’s exit date confirmed as reign of terror ends

Emmerdale has announced when Celia Daniels and Ray Walters will leave the village as their reign of terror on the Yorkshire village ends – with one more victim ‘revealed’

Emmerdale has confirmed when Celia Daniels and Ray Walters will leave the village as their reign of terror comes to an end. The mother and son duo have been causing heartbreak and havoc in the sleepy Yorkshire village.

The pair are running a modern slavery ring, and have got teenagers April and Dylan involved in drug dealing, leaving Marlon and Rhona terrified for their family’s life. As suspicions grow around Ray and Celia, it seems like they’re keen to make their exit.

Speaking previously, actress Jaye Griffiths shared Celia’s plan to leave the village. She said: “Celia doesn’t mark Christmas. And this year she is planning on them leaving the area. As it has all got too complicated, April’s family are an irritant to her and things are also getting complicated business wise as Moira is becoming troublesome by asking too many questions.

“But more alarmingly Ray has gone and fallen in love. So she’s extricating them to another area. It is clear that this is something they have done before – find another farm in another location and set up their enterprise again.”

In today’s episode of Emmerdale, Ray seemed to have convinced April to leave the village with them to move to a new area to continue their criminal work if they keep her family protected.

As Ray explained the plan to April, he said they had set a date on January 1st to head out of the village, leaving April shocked that it was so soon. He warned her to enjoy her last Christmas in the village.

Fans have known for a while that this storyline with Ray and Celia would be ending soon. Jaye explained: “I knew it was finite from the start, which I am very sad about. I would like to stay forever, but it’s such a strong arc.

“It’s heaven [working on Emmerdale], one of the nicest places I’ve ever worked, and I’ve done a little bit of work before! It is gentle and kind and professional and funny, and people care that it’s good. People care that we tell the story properly.”

Speaking about her villainous character, she added: “I love her. She doesn’t have many laughs, I’m hardly swinging from the rafters but no, it’s just so wonderful to explore someone who doesn’t mind whether you like or not, because your opinion is of less than no value.

“It simply doesn’t cross her mind that you have one or that I should take any note of it. So it makes her big and to never be afraid, to never feel fear, because the worst that could happen has already happened, and she survived. So bring it on. Just bring it on!”

Tate McRae spotted on cozy date with hockey stud Jack Hughes one day after sparking romance rumors at NHL game

TATE McRae has been spotted on a cozy date with NHL star Jack Hughes hours after attending his hockey game.

The couple sparked rumors they might have struck up a romance after Tate, 22, supported Jack, 24, from the stands at the New Jersey Devils vs. Buffalo Sabres game in Newark, New Jersey, on Sunday.

Several photos and videos circulated on social media, showing Tate at the game, leading many to wonder if she was there to cheer on Jack, who returned to the ice after an over-a-month-long recovery from a hand injury.

Further fueling chatter of a possible romance, the pair were seen taking a stroll on Monday in New York City.

Photos obtained by The U.S. Sun show the pop star rocking baggy blue jeans, a navy blue shirt, and a long black trench coat for the chilly outing.

She kept the look casual, accessorizing with white sneakers, a small tan handbag, and a yellow baseball cap while carrying a small coffee cup.

BEING FRANK

Ariana Grande’s brother slammed for reaction to Tate McRae’s VMAs performance

Jack wore blue pants, a tan sweater, and a dark blue jacket, paired with white sneakers and a navy baseball cap.

His right hand was in a cast, seemingly due to the hand injury he endured off the ice last month.

They each appeared to be enjoying the other’s company as they smiled and laughed throughout the walk.

Tate most recently dated Australian rapper The Kid LAROI, who is widely believed to be the subject behind her new track, Tit for Tat.

The former couple broke up in July, but it wasn’t until her Rolling Stone cover story earlier this month that Tate confirmed their split.

Tate admitted that “it was really scary and overwhelming” at first to write and release the track about her relationship.

“I would never talk that way, even about my friends’ lives. I didn’t realize how much it would affect me, the public knowing my private life—because no one knows the full story of anything, ever,” the Canadian singer said, adding that the media coverage about their breakup made the heartbreak even harder to bear.

“I also hate people painting a situation that’s worse than it is.”

Tate also shared that she expects songs will be written about her, just like she writes about her experiences, because that’s often how artists process their emotions.

“What I’ve had to realize is that he’s going to write songs and I’m going to write songs, and that’s our way of expressing ourselves,” the So You Think You Can Dance alum explained.

“That’s our art, that’s our job. And once it’s out there, it’s not mine anymore.”

Tit for Tat is rumored to be in response to The Kid LAROI’s song A COLD PLAY, which seemingly details their split, although he hasn’t explicitly confirmed the speculation.

In a post on social media the lead singer of the band said: “It came to light over the last few days that Simon Cowell, Netflix and Universal Music, are involved in a new boy band that share, to some extent, our name December Tenth.

“Now if anyone in Simon’s team, Universal or Netflix, would like to get in touch with ourselves and our legal team they can do so.

“I would like to point out, the hundreds of new followers we have over the last few days are most welcome, but I’m not entirely sure they are all genuine.”

The band, who formed in 2020, have also been swamped with messages with confused boy band fans who mistakenly followed them online.

He added: “Our social media accounts have blew up and we had no idea why. It turns out that Simon Cowell has released a new Netflix show, called “December 10”.

“We are now being inundated with well wishes from fans of the show thinking we are that band.”

It’s not the first time Simon has faced issues over a pop group’s name.

Exact opening date and location of first Spanish Spoons revealed

The pub chain will soon be opening its doors on its first European branch, and the opening date and some teaser images have been revealed so far for those excited about enjoying a pint in the sun

J D Wetherspoon has revealed further details about its new branch opening in Europe, and it’s in a location that’s a favourite among Brits heading off for their holidays.

Earlier this year, the pub giant confirmed the first European Spoons will be located at the Alicante-Elche Miguel Hernandez Airport in Spain, a popular hub for British tourists making their way to Benidorm.

Alicante-Elche Airport is popular with Brits thanks to its budget airline connections. Airlines such as easyJet, Jet2, and Ryanair offer non-stop routes between many UK airports and Alicante, with flights usually clocking in at less than three hours.

The pub chain has already announced the name of the new establishment – Castell de Santa Bàrbera – which was inspired by an Alicante castle which overlooks the sea. Wetherspoons has also confirmed the pub’s official opening date is set for January 29 at 8am, meaning thirsty travellers will soon be able to enjoy their favourite pint in the sunshine.

The location of the new pub has been confirmed as the airside departures, non-Schengen zone of Alicante Airport. Opening hours will be 6am to 9pm, seven days a week, with food being served until an hour before closing time. The pub will offer nearly 1,000 square feet of indoor seating, along with an outdoor terrace providing additional tables for punters.

Wetherspoons has teased its menu, promising to serve up a host of UK favourites, including its famous breakfasts, burgers, and pizzas. For those yearning for one last Spanish culinary experience before jetting off, local delicacies like garlic prawns and Spanish omelettes will also be available.

In a previous statement, Wetherspoon founder and chairman Tim Martin expressed his excitement: ” We are very much looking forward to opening our first overseas pub. We believe it will be popular with people travelling home from Alicante Airport.”

He unveiled his ambitions to expand the brand further, saying: “We aim to open a number of pubs overseas in the coming months and years, including those at airports.”

Alicante-Elche Airport holds the title as the busiest in the Valencian region, boasting a record 18.3 million passengers in 2024.

But this isn’t the only growth plan Wetherspoons has announced in recent months.

The pub giant has also announced plans to roll out four new outlets within Haven holiday parks by the end of spring 2026. The lucky parks set to welcome new branches are: Cala Gran in Blackpool, Hopton in Norfolk, Lakeland in the Lake District, and Riviere Sands in Cornwall.

Five Wetherspoons outlets already operate within Haven parks, serving up crowd-pleasers from the chain’s menu. Since their opening, these branches have dished out 907,000 main meals, 288,000 breakfasts and poured 692,201 pints across the five locations, according to data supplied by Haven.

Wetherspoons is also set to open six new pubs across the UK in the coming months, with locations including Newcastle upon Tyne, Stockton-on-Tees, and Wetherby, Yorkshire.

These new establishments will join the existing network of over 800 Wetherspoon pubs, which already serve customers throughout the UK.
