I visited the hidden UK island that’s completely car free and inspired Peter Pan’s Neverland

AS the car turned, there it was – a towering island next to an isolated and ruined castle, emerging from the water – it truly was a real-life Neverland.

Located in the Inner Hebrides in Scotland is a tiny island with a population of just nine people.

The island then has a number of houses and cabins, including a main manor house (above)Credit: Cyann Fielding

Known as Eilean Shona, this tidal island is completely car-free and was the inspiration behind J.M Barrie’s creation of Neverland in Peter Pan.

As my boat approached the shores of the island, it was obvious why.

Towering green trees and serene still waters were both welcoming and peaceful.

Once I reached the island, the soft soil, earthy smells, chimes of birds and light breaking through the trees made it feel magical.

I found the best value all inclusive London hotel… just £55pp with free food & booze

HAPPY DEAL

Disney free food deal that ‘saves THOUSANDS’ – our experts see if it’s worth it

The island is littered with a number of houses and cabins for visitors to stay in – for my stay, I was in the main manor house.

Stepping inside, I found myself in a Traitors-like castle, decked out with tartan features, roaring fireplaces and cosy corners with well-read books.

The feeling of being somewhere else continued when I found my room – a plush bed stood proud in the centre, and old-style windows looked out onto fresh green grass just as if I was in my own magical bubble.

The main house sleeps up to 18 people and inside has a number of spaces including nine bedrooms, six bathrooms, a dining room, library with a full-size billiards table, a drawing room, and a large kitchen.

Guests can either book the house as catered or self-catered, and for prices, you will need to contact the island (though split between 18 people it wouldn’t work out too expensive per night).

Whilst there isn’t much to do on the island, it is the perfect retreat away from the modern world and the stresses of day to day life.

Thanks to there being no shops, no restaurants and patchy phone signal, it really helps you disconnect from your mobile (and consequently social media).

This particularly hit me when I ran a bath, and the water ran yellow-brown.

Initially, I was disgusted, thinking it was dirt, and reached for my phone to do a quick Google search.

But I stopped myself.

Instead, I embraced it and later asked one of my hosts why it was that colour.

Turns out the water is in fact so clean – cleaner than most places in the UK – and the colour comes from the peat found in the surrounding landscape.

I was told it is perfectly safe to drink and bathe in, and in fact carries minerals that are good for you.

One of the activities to do on the island that is well worth experiencing, though, is taking a cold water plunge or swim – the scenery is stunning and the water is serenely calm.

Heading off the pier, I floated for a few minutes in the water, taking in the smell of the fresh, earthy air and noting the silence around me.

For those who aren’t too fond of a cold dip or want to warm up quickly afterwards, there is also a sauna near the water’s edge.

During the evening, I headed to the Village Hall, which is the island’s social hub.

Here you can enjoy a weekly pub night, table tennis, wildlife books and board games.

The island also has lots of beaches, including Shoe BayCredit: @goodcompany.group @konrad.j.borkowski

After enjoying my dinner, I snuggled up to the fire cocktail made from a Sapling Spirits – a climate-positive vodka brand that first started on the island.

For each bottle sold, the brand plants a tree, something I even got to do with my own tree sapling – perhaps it will be used by the Lost Boys to find their way home.

Obviously, the island has an endless amount of walks you can take, and a couple of mine included heading to the summit and to the opposite side of the island where I found Shoe Bay, with a white sand beach and crystal clear waters.

For guests who want to venture around the island’s shores, there are kayaks, canoes and paddleboards available for hire.

And whilst exploring the island, make sure to keep an eye out for wildlife as birds of prey often circle overhead.

In less than 24 hours I had completely fallen in love with the island.

It really did feel like Neverland for adults wanting to escape the modern world and I cannot wait to go back.

There are a few ways to get to the island, including via the Caledonian Sleeper to Fort William.

From there, Eilean Shona is about an hour’s drive or in a taxi.

Alternatively, you could fly to Glasgow Airport, then hire a car and make the three-hour trip to Eilean Shona.

Vera’s Brenda Blethyn looks completely different in ‘shocking’ film with ‘violent’ twist

Brenda Blethyn stars in the upcoming drama film Dragonfly, which has been described as “shocking” and “violent” by critics

The latest trailer for Brenda Blethyn‘s “shocking” drama Dragonfly has just dropped and it’s already proving a massive hit with audiences after scoring 93% on Rotten Tomatoes.

The film also features Andrea Riseborough and Jason Watkins, with the storyline centring around Coleen (Riseborough) who becomes horrified by the treatment her elderly neighbour Elsie (Blethyn) is enduring, prompting her to volunteer her assistance without charge.

Nevertheless, the synopsis suggests that Colleen’s motives might not be quite what they seem. As suspicions mount, a devastating incident triggers a brutal chain of events that could irreversibly transform both women’s existence.

The trailer opens with Elsie recognising that looking after someone is “a lot of hard work” after Colleen volunteers her assistance. Colleen insists that it’s what neighbours are “supposed to do”, but the trailer swiftly shifts into darker territory as Elsie looks petrified by a telephone ringing in her house, and Colleen’s true intentions come under scrutiny from Elsie’s son (Watkins).

“I’ve been hurting all my life, Elsie, to be honest,” Colleen confesses, as we witness her menacingly observing Elsie through a glass panel in her front door, reports Chronicle Live.

Following its debut at the Tribeca Film Festival earlier this year, Dragonfly currently boasts a 93% score on Rotten Tomatoes. In our critique, we called the film “a powerful and compelling drama that explores those that society shuns, building to an ending you won’t forget”.

The Hollywood Reporter penned: “Is this tonal swerve a little gimmicky? Probably, and the film will not be to everyone’s taste. But it is a skillfully rendered exercise in terror.”

ScreenAnarchy remarked: “While cinema in general still tends to romanticise loneliness, Dragonfly shows it for what it is: a routine series of everyday, excruciating experiences that always build up to something that tends to be horrific, more often than not.”

The Guardian lauded it as “a stark, fierce, wonderfully acted film”, while Culture Mix observed: “Dragonfly isn’t just a ‘slow burn’ psychological drama.

“This well-acted movie about two lonely people and home caregiving takes an extreme turn in the last 20 minutes to a shocking ending that’s sure to be divisive.”

Last year, Blethyn spoke candidly about securing the role in the film after wrapping up Vera, reminiscing at the British Film Institute: “I was home, I hadn’t even unpacked my bag, and my agent called me and said, ‘Oh, you’ve been offered a film.’ I said, ‘I don’t want to do a film. I haven’t unpacked yet.'”.

“She said, ‘Oh, it is with Andrea Riseborough.’ I said, ‘Oh, is it?’ And she said, ‘And it starts next week because somebody had dropped out and it’s written and directed by Paul Andrew Williams.'”.

“I said, ‘Oh, well, I better have a little read of it just to… but no, I’m not doing it, but I’ll have a read of it.’ And I liked it, so I did it.”

Dragonfly premiered at Tribeca Film Festival in June 2025. A cinema release date is yet to be announced

Eminem’s rarely-seen ex Kim Mathers looks completely different with pink hair as she’s spotted outside her Michigan home

EMINEM’S reclusive ex-wife Kim Mathers showcased a new look after dying her hair pink as she stepped out near her home in Michigan.

Kim, 50, who had long blonde locks in the past, is seen in The U.S Sun’s exclusive photos with a cropped ‘do.

The rap superstar’s former wife, who has four children, is now heavily tattooed with sleeve designs down both of her arms after adopting a rocker look in recent years.

Her elaborate inkings include the word Artemis down her right arm, referencing the Greek goddess of the hunt, wild animals, and wilderness scenes.

Kim also has other dark inkings on her left arm and on her neck, many of which have an Alice in Wonderland theme, as she previously revealed she is a fan of the Lewis Carroll story.

She appeared in good health after a previous addiction battle and was seen smiling while wearing a black t-shirt with a colorful Nirvana design emblazoned on the front.

Eminem’s daughter gives birth to first baby and reveals name with tribute to dad

Kim matched her cut-up tee with a pair of light jogging bottoms and a pair of black shades.

In 2023, she revealed to The U.S. Sun that she was clean and sober after undergoing a 45-day rehab stint after she was left heartbroken by the death of her beloved mom, Kathy Sluck.

Audio from a 911 call in July 2022 revealed one of Kim’s children found her “surrounded by blood and pills on her bathroom floor,” as she struggled to cope with her grief.

They broke the handle on the door and called for help, as desperate Kim begged them not to call the police after reportedly leaving notes for her family.

The mom-of-four was rushed to the hospital before being discharged, and later sought treatment for addiction at a center in Detroit, Michigan.

HEALTH BATTLE

A year later, she told The U.S. Sun: “It’s been hard, I lost my mom, my dad, and my sister [over the past 10 years].

“[But] I’m good. I’ve been clean since about October. I went to Jefferson House … for 45 days.”

Kim revealed she had previously been taking pills to try and sleep as she struggled with the loss, and her children had been “very supportive,” amid her mental health scare.

Despite her past drama with ex Eminem, real name Marshall Mathers, she added that he had also been checking in with her to make sure she was getting better.

Asked how often she sees the rapper, she joked: “Not often, but often enough.”

The two wed in 1999 but divorced in 2001.

Despite reconciling and marrying a second time in 2006, the union did not work out.

The pair have a daughter, Hailie Jade, 29, along with an adopted daughter, Alaina, 32, with Eminem.

Alaina’s mother, Dawn, who was Kim’s sister, died of a drug overdose in 2016 after years of addiction problems.

Kim is also mom to Stevie Laine, 22, who identifies as non-binary, and was also raised by the rapper, 52.

In recent years, she has been living with her rarely-seen son, Parker, who is believed to be in his teens.

Both Stevie and Parker are from different relationships since her divorce from the superstar.

BABY JOY

Following her health issues, Kim and Marshall reunited for Hailie’s wedding to her long-term partner, Evan McClintock.

Hailie and Evan then welcomed a baby, Kim and Marshall’s first grandchild, Elliot, in March this year.

Kim’s upbeat appearance this month comes as her adopted daughter, Alaina Scott, announced she is pregnant with her first child with her husband, Matt Moeller, whom she married in 2023.

Alaina shared the news on Instagram, as she attached a photograph of her surprising her spouse.

“THE BEST OF YOU + ME,” she wrote in October. “For months, I’ve carried a tiny heartbeat inside me, one that has already changed mine in every possible way.

She continued, “There’s something indescribable about knowing there’s a little life growing, dreaming, and becoming, all while you go about your day, whispering prayers and hopes only they can hear.”

Alaina added, “I’ve never felt more grateful for this gift and to grow our family, something we’ve wanted for so long.

“Thank you God for this blessing. Baby M, we can’t wait to meet you, little one.”

Alaina shared a slew of photos of her surprising Matt with the news.

Semi-detached home looks completely normal as it hits market for £140,000 – but it hides a ‘satanic’ secret

A NORMAL-looking terraced home has hit the market for £140,000 – but it hides a “satanic” secret.

The two-bedroom house went viral on TikTok after Ashleigh Anderson, 33, shared its unique decor with the world.

The tattoo enthusiast bought the property in Barrhead, Scotland in 2022 and spent three years turning it into her dream home.

With its brick walls and manicured lawn, the house appears like a regular terraced home from the outside.

But inside lies a Goth’s paradise – fit with jet black cabinets and radiators, as well as signature Halloween-inspired artwork.

Ashleigh said her living room was inspired by a tattoo studio.

To achieve this particular look, she adorned the walls with a number of eclectic decorations.

The house features spooky sculptures and a large neon sign that covers part of the ink-coloured wall.

Eerie statues form the base of a glass-mounted coffee table, while dark sofa cushions are emblazoned with bold exaggerated eyes.

Meanwhile, two mannequin tattoo-covered legs poke out from either end of the sofa.

Continuing the gothic theme, skulls appear dotted around the room, alongside a zebra head taking pride of place by the steps.

Now on the market for £140,000, with Kelly Residential, the property has gained widespread acclaim for its “unexpected character”.

A-list mega star called my house HAUNTED while living in it and now it’s unsellable… I’ve lost £6MILLION because of her

The listing reads: “This two-bedroom semi-detached property may appear understated from the outside, but step inside and you’ll discover a striking interior with a bold, gothic-inspired design.

“The front door opens into a spacious living room, where dark hardwood flooring, dramatic black walls, gothic artwork, and a distinctive tartan media wall create a stylish and memorable space.

“To the rear, the generous kitchen continues the contemporary feel with high-gloss black cabinets, integrated appliances, and ample worktop space, offering both flair and functionality.

“Upstairs, the main bedroom is large and finished with a neutral feature wall and built-in mirrored wardrobes.

“The second bedroom, currently arranged as a dressing room, offers ample space to serve as a comfortable double bedroom or versatile home office.

“Combining a bold interior aesthetic with practical modern living, this home is ideal for buyers seeking something truly distinctive.”

Ruben Loftus-Cheek: England midfielder ‘completely forgot’ about playing for country during seven-year absence

Ruben Loftus-Cheek says he “completely forgot” about playing for England and was “just a fan” during his near seven-year absence from the national team.

Loftus-Cheek’s last appearance for the Three Lions came in a friendly against the United States in November 2018 after he had been part of Gareth Southgate’s World Cup squad that reached the semi-finals in Russia the same year.

The 29-year-old midfielder ruptured his Achilles in 2019 playing for Chelsea in a friendly in the USA before the Europa League final, and subsequently dropped out of the England reckoning.

He joined AC Milan in 2023 and has made 71 appearances for the Rossoneri in all competitions, scoring 11 goals and registering three assists.

“When I ruptured my Achilles, I was on such a high [before it happened], so after that I had a hard time mentally,” said Loftus-Cheek.

“But I was still young, I still had time to come back, so I wasn’t too low.”

He added he had “got used” to not joining up with England because he had been away for so long.

“You still want to push in club football with the hope of maybe getting a sniff,” he said.

“But I just completely forgot about it and was being a fan of the team instead.”

Loftus-Cheek said it took about two years for him to feel himself again after the injury.

“If you have got good people around you it is going to help you so much, but the main thing comes from your self drive,” he said of his recovery.

“That belief, to overcome challenges, is paramount in sport and in life – that you have this mentality in overcoming challenges.”

California Gov. Gavin Newsom has driven Fox News completely crazy

Fox News has never been bothered by the Trumpian approach to social media, with its all-caps posts and multiple exclamation points. Its self-aggrandizing hyperbole. Its mean-girl name-calling. But this week, the MAGA network’s hosts were triggered.

“You have to stop it with the Twitter thing,” said host Dana Perino. Sean Hannity bemoaned the “performative confrontational style” that only “wins you points with the loony radical base.” Fox News anchor Trace Gallagher referred to the tone as “childish.”

So why the sudden dismay and hurt feelings? Because the taunts and boasts are coming from a Democrat, and not just any lefty but King Snowflake himself, California Gov. Gavin Newsom.

Adopting Trump’s low-bar social media tactics, the X account of Newsom’s press office has spent recent weeks mimicking the president’s social media style to troll the trollers. They’ve nicknamed U.S. Secretary of Homeland Security Kristi Noem “Commander Cosplay.” And Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) — who took that sunny Mexican vacation during a deadly 2021 winter storm in his state — is “Cancun Cruz.” As for the commander-in-chief? “Small Hands.”

Playing off the doctored images of a virile Trump posted by the president’s account on his own platform, Newsom’s account has generated equally delusional memes. One shows the governor’s face carved into Mt. Rushmore, another of him as a king on the cover of Time magazine and as a messiah-like figure worshiped by MAGAites Tucker Carlson, Kid Rock and the late Hulk Hogan (the latter post was followed by another that just read “I HATE KID ROCK!!! – GCN”).

This week on Fox News’ “The Five,” an incredulous Perino said of Newsom: “I don’t know where his wife is? If I were his wife I would say, ‘You’re making a fool of yourself, stop it!’”

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, in a discussion Wednesday with Fox’s Jesse Watters, said that Newsom’s obsession with Trump is distracting him from doing his job as governor. “Why is he spending all this time trying to be fresh with President Trump?” DeSantis asked. “Why doesn’t he do his job and protect the people?”

“Fresh” with Trump? I don’t even know where to go with that other than therapy, especially since it was accompanied by a banner at the bottom of the screen that read: “Dems look for Big Daddy Energy.”

Newsom’s account promptly tweeted: “Jesse, please stop calling me Daddy. It’s disturbing.”

Fox keeps insisting Newsom’s SnarkPosting is a big fail, but the numbers would suggest otherwise. Since the beginning of August, the governor’s press office account has gained 250,000 followers and more than 225 million impressions.

And it’s clearly made an impression on Fox News.

“WOW! FOX NEWS CAN’T STOP TALKING ABOUT ME (GAVIN C. NEWSOM), AMERICA’S FAVORITE GOVERNOR!!!” Newsom posted Wednesday on X. “TONIGHT THEIR ENTIRE PRIMETIME LINEUP WAS ABOUT ME! JESSE WATTERS KEPT CALLING ME ‘DADDY’ (VERY WEIRD, NOT INTERESTED, BUT THANK YOU!). SEAN HANNITY (VERY NICE GUY) NEARLY CRIED BECAUSE I WON’T TAKE HIS ‘ADVICE.’ SORRY SEAN!!!! THEN THEY DRAGGED OUT THE B-TEAM OF DUMB DUMBS: ‘MEATBALL RON,’ TOMI ‘TOILET’ LAHREN, AND TEDDY ‘CANCUN’ CRUZ (HE EVEN FLEW BACK SPECIAL FROM MEXICO!) ALL WHINING ABOUT ME, GCN! THEY HAD TO ‘PLAY THE MUSIC’ TO SHUT TED UP ABOUT MY BEAUTIFUL HAIR (I GET IT! SO JEALOUS!). TOTAL DISASTER…”

Even the granddaddy of MAGA agitators, Steve Bannon, was impressed by Newsom’s online lack of decorum. “If you look at the Democratic Party, he’s at least getting up there, and he’s trying to imitate a Trumpian vision of fighting, right?” he told Politico. “He looks like the only person in the Democratic Party who is organizing a fight that they feel they can win.”

Fox pundits spent much of Thursday blaming Newsom and the “Sanctuary state of California” for a deadly Florida traffic accident involving an undocumented truck driver. It was preferable to reporting on another post that got under their skin (see below) or a political victory for Newsom when a ballot measure he pushed to redraw California’s electoral map was approved by the California Legislature. It calls for a November special election asking voters to redraw the state’s electoral lines. The ballot measure is in response to Texas’ proposed redrawing of its maps to favor Republicans in the 2026 midterms, possibly adding five more GOP-held seats to the House.

“NOT EVEN JD ‘JUST DANCE’ VANCE CAN SAVE TRUMP FROM THE DISASTROUS MAPS ‘WAR’ HE HAS STARTED,” said the Newsom press office post. “NOT EVEN HIS EYELINER LINES LOOK AS PRETTY AS CALIFORNIA ‘MAP’ LINES. HE WILL FAIL, AS HE ALWAYS DOES (SAD!) AND I, THE PEACETIME GOVERNOR — OUR NATION’S FAVORITE — WILL SAVE AMERICA ONCE AGAIN. MANY ARE NOW CALLING ME GAVIN CHRISTOPHER ‘COLUMBUS’ NEWSOM (BECAUSE OF THE MAPS!). THANK YOU FOR YOUR ATTENTION TO THIS MATTER. — GCN”

Fox pundits and hosts aren’t the only media folk to find Newsom’s Trump-esque communiques troubling. MSNBC host Joe Scarborough called them “embarrassing.”

But as Newsom told the media last week, if the mockery bothers you, look to the original source. “If you have issues with what I’m putting out, you sure as hell should have concerns with what he’s putting out as president.” Fox News has concerns, but they’re not about Trump.

‘I stayed at the world’s only IKEA hotel – one thing completely blew me away’

The hotel can be easily accessed by taking the train from Denmark’s capital, Copenhagen

Ever fancied a quick nap in one of IKEA’s cosy display bedrooms? Turns out, you can do just that. Travel influencer Chelsea Dickenson, known online as the ‘Holiday Expert’, recently visited the furniture store’s world-first hotel and shared her verdict on its facilities.

Aptly named IKEA Hotell, this accommodation is situated in Älmhult, Sweden, but can be accessed easily by taking the train from Denmark’s capital, Copenhagen. It boasts a lounge area, cinema, restaurant and even a museum, which hotel guests can enter for free.

“I went to the world’s only IKEA HOTEL with @thismorning,” Chelsea wrote on Instagram. “…What’s even better is that you can catch a direct 1 hour 45 min train from Copenhagen Airport for just £22.

Content cannot be displayed without consent

“Plus, you could stay the night and then catch a direct train to Stockholm in three hours and make it into an epic Scandi train trip!” In general, Chelsea said that staying in a cabin costs £45 per night, while double rooms cost £100 and family spaces are priced at £125.

Various perks come with a stay at the hotel, too, including free laundry facilities, a gym, and a kids’ play area. Breakfast is also included in the price.

However, one aspect in particular blew Chelsea away. Perhaps unsurprisingly, this was the food, with meatballs and even a ‘luxury hotdog range’ available at different spots around the premises.

Chelsea continued: “Meatballs available at the hotel and the museum restaurant – but expect fancier fair at their ‘Grillen’ restaurant, though they have a luxury hotdog range!!”

Ikea logo is seen on the store in Krakow, Poland on May 5, 2023
While IKEA is popular across the globe, its first store was in Sweden (stock image)(Image: NurPhoto via Getty Images)

She later added: “Honestly, I know I was there for work but I BLOODY LOVED IT and thought it was great value for what you got! Plus, I was blown away by the food at Grillen. It was really, really good and not as ££ as I thought it would be for Sweden!”

Chelsea’s review was quickly showered with intrigued comments from viewers. Some even confirmed personally that the IKEA hotel exceeded their expectations, describing it as far nicer than they had imagined.

One person wrote: “We have just returned from a Scandinavian holiday and we stayed here. We made a detour especially. It was so much better than we thought it would be.” Meanwhile, another person said: “I had a reservation there for autumn 2020 (so that never happened!) and it’s still on my bucket list.”

Someone else added: “This sounds like such an incredible adventure!” For those interested in learning more about Chelsea’s stay at the IKEA hotel, you can watch her full review on ITVX here.

‘Pack your bags, buddy’ – Fans fear for Man Utd star as he is completely snubbed in Fiorentina clash

MANCHESTER UNITED fans are fearing for one of their big-money signings after his Fiorentina snub.

The Red Devils took on the Italian side at Old Trafford on Saturday.

The pre-season friendly finished 1-1 after 90 minutes before United won the penalty shootout.

The game came too soon for new arrival Benjamin Sesko.

Sesko, 22, completed his £74million switch from RB Leipzig on the morning of the match.

But even with the striker unavailable, it was bad news for Rasmus Hojlund.

Mason Mount started in a false No9 role in between Bryan Mbeumo and Matheus Cunha, who were unveiled on the pitch alongside Sesko and Diego Leon.

But even when Mount was subbed off, he was replaced by Manuel Ugarte.

That meant Hojlund, 22, remained an unused sub on the bench as Rubem Amorim overlooked the £72m Danish man.

And United supporters took to social media to react to the fact that the manager ignored his most senior available striker in their last pre-season clash ahead of next weekend’s opener against Arsenal.

CASINO SPECIAL – BEST CASINO BONUSES FROM £10 DEPOSITS

One said: “He’s not subbing Hojlund on – pack your bags buddy.”

Another wrote: “Rip the No9 off him and stick it on Sesko.”

Benjamin Sesko is paraded around Old Trafford after completing £74million transfer

A third added: “Hojlund not even getting sympathy minutes off the bench now, he’s being shipped to bomb squad.”

A fourth commented: “Hojlund didn’t get any minute. Sure he’s leaving aye?”

And a fifth typed: “Has Ruben decided to sell Rasmus Hojlund?”

Hojlund, who arrived from Atalanta in 2023, managed four Premier League goals last season.

But he looks set to play second-fiddle to Sesko if he sticks around at Old Trafford this term.

The luckless forward, though, could leave before the transfer window closed.

United are willing to cut their losses and want around £40m – and could get close to that if a deal can be struck with AC Milan.

MAN UTD PLAYER RATINGS: Bryan Mbeumo eases pressure on Bruno Fernandes but Matheus Cunha lacks sharpness vs Fiorentina

BRYAN MBEUMO showed fans what they’ve been missing as Manchester United beat Fiorentina 5-4 on penalties in their final pre-season friendly.

United were a mixed bag in their final summer warm-up game- and the only one at Old Trafford – before the start of the new season next Sunday.

United unveiled their four new signings but it was Benjamin Sesko – who was announced from RB Leipzig before kick-off – that got the loudest roar from fans.

And this match proved how much they needed him…

Here’s how SunSport’s Man Utd reporter Katherine Walsh rated the players

The San Siro giants are reportedly keen to take Hojlund on loan with a £35m option to buy him next summer.

But the ex-Copenhagen man insists he is ready to battle for minutes under Amorim this term.

Speaking during the trip to USA, Hojlund said: “The club has told me nothing so far.

“The most important thing for me is just to keep working hard and stay focused and then obviously we’ll see what happens.

“My plan is very clear and that is for me to stay and fight for my spot, whatever happens.

“Last season was a bit rough and I’ve tried to sharpen myself over the course of the holidays.

“It was a tough season on us all. I should have done better, everybody knows.”

Spanish officials have warned that overtourism protests are scaring off holidaymakers.

Some locals in Majorca have claimed that certain resorts are “completely dead”, following several years of intense campaigning about the impacts of tourism on the Balearic islands and those similar to it.

Restaurant association president, Juanmi Ferrer, has now warned that the protests are “scaring visitors away”, while Miguel Pérez‑Marsá, head of the nightlife association, sounded a similar alarm. He told the Majorca Daily Bulletin: “The tourists we’re interested in are being driven away; they don’t feel welcome and are going to other destinations.”

Pedro Oliver, president of the College of Tour Guides, told Mail Online that his industry had been impacted by the negative messaging. “The anti‑tourism messages are resonating,” he said, noting that sales were down 20 % as key markets including Brits and Germans were staying away.

Have you stayed away from Spain because of the protests? We’d love to hear from you. Email [email protected]

Biel Rosales, who runs excursion provider Proguies Turístics, said activity had been cut in half this summer, blaming the protests as well as rising prices. “Tourismphobia and the idea that tourists are not welcome are hurting us greatly,” he said.

The cooling effect has also been felt in the taxi ranks. Biel Moragues, who works in one of the island’s taxi associations, told Mail Online: “British tourists are the most upset by the protests and have changed their holiday destination.”

Lesley Johnson, from Leicester, has been living in Majorca for 30 years and has seen a big change this year. Where previously the main strip would be packed and difficult to walk down on Friday and Saturday evenings, now it is “dead”. She echoed the complaints of other Brits who have made the holiday island their home, that the number of their compatriots living in Majorca is dwindling as each year passes.

While it is hard to judge how many people have visited Majorca so far this summer and whether overall numbers are down, early-season figures suggest Brits might be staying away.

In March, visitors from Majorca’s third-largest market, the UK, were down 23.2 % to 48,741. For the Balearics as a whole, the UK fell 25.3 % to 52,170. Other markets showed notable decreases as well, with France down 39.4 % in Majorca and Italy 40.1 %.

It may be that Brits are avoiding the Balearic islands such as Majorca and opting for the Canaries instead. Recent Canary Islands Statistics Institute data show an influx of British tourists to Lanzarote so far this summer. Numbers have swelled by just shy of 40,000, despite widespread demonstrations rocking the archipelago.

According to Gazette Life, UK visitor numbers to Lanzarote surged from 691,902 to 738,387 during the five‑month period year‑on‑year. Intriguingly, German visitor numbers have dwindled by nearly 30,000 in Lanzarote, as recorded between January and May 2025.

Official figures on the number of visitors to Majorca over the month of June will be released this week. They will offer a good indication of whether tourism to the island has slumped, as it did in May, when visitor numbers were down by just over 1 %.

Jordi Mora, president of the Federation of Small and Medium Enterprises of Majorca, has argued against the suggestion that the protests were scaring tourists away, claiming that there would be a 5 % growth in visitor numbers this year compared to last, once the season is complete.

Shameless star completely unrecognisable in chilling new BBC drama

BBC’s powerful new drama Unforgivable has one renowned Shameless star among its leading star-studded cast but fans will simply not recognise him

Shameless actor David Threlfall couldn’t look further away from his former alter-ego Frank Gallagher even if he tried, in BBC‘s new drama feature, Unforgivable.

The dark story plot follows a harrowing tale that centres around child grooming and sexual abuse and shines a light on how a heinous crime can ripple through an entire family, with the Mitchells at the heart of the 90-minute long feature.

David, 71, who is best known for his alcoholic, chain-smoking days as Frank on the popular working-class comedy sitcom, has ditched his iconic long dark locks to star in the role of Anna Mitchell’s father.

Anna, is a mother of two children and her brother Joe is the perpetrator – who had been behind bars serving a two year prison sentence for his despicable crimes.

Joe is now to be released from jail and undertake rehabilitation which takes further toll on Anna, who is played by award-winning actress, Anna Friel, as she attempts to deal with the aftermath and emotional strain.

David was unrecognisable on new BBC drama
David looked worlds away from his Shameless days

David plays the angry dad of Anna, after learning she’d been to visit her brother Joe, despite his chilling crimes. His character in Unforgivable appears to be worlds away from his former head-of-the-clan character Frank on Shameless.

In the brand new production, the esteemed actor is totally unrecognisable, boasting short gray hair and a neatly trimmed matching beard.

Another distinctive observation that’ll no doubt throw fans off of his Frank Gallagher scent, is that he is also presented as a well kept man, sporting a black tie and blazer with a crisp white shirt – nothing like his oversized green parka-style coat from a past on-screen life.

Previously, David’s appearance and accent have also proved to be a talking point among baffled fans with the actor bearing no real-life resemblance to his character at all.

David has confessed in the past he is nothing like Frank in real life(Image: Channel 4)

He played Frank so well, that viewers were unable to get past that he may not be anything like him off-screen.

Shameless aired on Channel 4 for eleven series and 139 episodes from 2004 until 2013 and was adapted in the US, where it ran between 2011 and 2021.

Speaking about his pursuits away from television, David previously shared with the Mirror that he is a family man at heart, sharing two children with his accomplished actor wife, Brana Bajic.

Underscoring the disparity between himself and his fictional counterpart, he told the publication 2010: “I can’t imagine getting up in the morning and taking a drink. My body doesn’t take more than four pints. I was doing a scene yesterday where he was drinking cough medicine. He’s lost.”

Unforgivable will air on BBC Two at 9pm this Thursday and will be available on BBC iPlayer from the same day.

‘I visited world’s most beautiful city but was left completely terrified’

A freak storm saw huge hailstones fall from the sky in a holiday hotspot

Split is a hugely popular destination(Image: Feng Wei Photography via Getty Images)

Split is a stunning seaside city rich in Roman heritage which residents call “the most beautiful in the world”. With flights from many UK airports, it’s hardly surprising it’s so well-loved.

A getaway to Split provides both the opportunity to laze on beaches and immerse yourself in history. Bačvice Bay serves as the city’s most favoured beach, boasting crystal-clear waters and mountain panoramas. And amongst the most sought-after activities whilst in Split is embarking on a boat expedition to the city’s islands Šolta, Drvenik, and Čiovo.

But lumps of ice plummeting from above, blazing trees and roads awash with rushing water aren’t exactly what springs to mind for a European European getaway destination loved and visited by around a million people every year.

What was meant to be an enjoyable boat excursion around the Croatian city’s neighbouring islands rapidly transformed into something resembling a catastrophe film when MyLondon reporter Katherine Gray visited.

Katherine said she headed down to the port bright and early for a nine-hour boat journey bearing towels and sunhats as they boarded the boat with excitement.

She said: “While there were admittedly some heavy looking clouds looming, we weren’t deterred. We’re Brits, rain can’t stop us.

“But just before we disembarked, the heavens opened and a downpour fell from the sky. People were laughing and filming with surprise at the heavy rain.

“But smiles quickly turned to screams as gale-force winds began to hit the city, sending chairs and tables flying all over the nearby promenade. Chunks of ice began to fall from the sky as everyone was forced to duck for cover to try and avoid being hit by the ginormous hailstones.”

The tour guides frantically tried to secure their boat using buoys and ropes, while passengers were directed to go inside it to seek shelter and wait for the storm to pass.

She added: “After around 20 minutes we exited the boat and came out to the top deck where we were helped to exit onto the dock. Street furniture was upturned on the pavement and water rushed around the streets.

“The boat tour was well and truly postponed until better weather conditions. But the chaos on the streets left us even more shocked as we were forced to wade through streams of water to get home.”

A holiday to Split offers both the chance to be a beach bum and get lost in history

Online footage also showed trees set on fire due to lightning strikes, while the famous Diocletian’s Palace was partially submerged by the heavy downpour.

Katherine said on their journey back to their accomodation in the Old Town, locals told them: “Nothing like this has ever happened before in Split.”

The devastating storm left around 20 people injured, but not seriously, according to Croatia Week. Whilst the hurricane-strength winds and extensive destruction might seem baffling, experts have attributed it to two cyclones that swept across the city.

Dr Ivan Güttler, Director of Croatia’s State Meteorological and Hydrological Service (DHMZ), explained to Croatian broadcaster HRT: “In recent days, two cyclones passed over our area. What made this event unique was that they encountered a warm surface, both land and sea, which had been heated by previous heatwaves.”

When cooler air meets a heated surface, it can generate convection clouds notorious for producing hail, fierce winds and rainfall. The severe weather turned Split’s streets into mayhem, with damage to vegetation and buildings disrupting residents’ daily lives.

Katherine wasn’t too put off by the experience and managed to enjoy the rest of her holiday in the stunning destination.

She said: “And although we were left slightly shaken, the experience didn’t have much affect on the rest of our lovely week away in Split which I would still happily recommend for anyone looking for a beach holiday this Summer. We were able to return to the dock a little later in the morning and spend a lovely afternoon exploring the Croatian city’s beautiful islands.”

Jeremy Clarkson left completely confused over farm issue as he reveals ‘most difficult thing’

Clarkson’s Farm star Jeremy Clarkson has turned his countryside escapades into a hit TV series – but he has confessed he is still very clueless about some agricultural practices

Jeremy Clarkson may be reaching new levels of fame thanks to his hit documentary series about his Oxfordshire farm – but he has admitted there are aspects of farming that he is still completely clueless about, despite working the land for years.

The 65-year-old TV star previously enjoyed fame as a host of Top Gear on the BBC – before departing the show under a cloud of shame after he punched a producer behind-the-scenes. He then launched rival car show The Grand Tour on Amazon Prime – however this success has been eclipsed by his hugely popular agricultural series, Clarkson’s Farm.

The show follows Jeremy as he endures trials and triumphs as he tries to make a living from his farm – which he named Diddly Squat as he has struggled to make sizeable sales from his crops. But the star appears to be enjoying his challenges – and has even become a spokesperson of British farming, and has turned on the current Labour government over changes to tax rules that risk decimating the UK farming industry.

Jezza has been learning as he goes – and admits there are still many aspects of farming he cannot understand. In a recent column, he explained that he can be confused by the industry – including how animals are turned into food after they are sent to the slaughterhouse.

He writes in the Sunday Times Magazine: “It’s nigh on impossible to deduce which bits are used to make steaks and which are for mincing and whether that bulbous-looking thing is incredibly tasty or a bowel.”

He continued: “But by far and away the most difficult thing would be turning my wheat into bread. This is something that has fascinated me for years because how on earth did anyone figure it out?”

As well as running his farm, Jeremy has opened his Diddly Squat Farm Shop where he sells his home-grown products to the public. And more recently he opened a pub called The Farmer’s Dog – which is a short trip from his farmland.

Clarkson’s Farm has been on the air since 2021 and has proved to be a surprise hit for Amazon. The show, now in it’s fourth season and with a fifth on the way, has won over TV fans who have admitted they have become unexpectedly emotional while watching the show.

The r/ClarksonsFarm Reddit page has swelled in contributors since the show began – with many fans heading there to review episodes online.

And fans have not shied away from confessing they have been moved to tears by the show. One poster admitted: “I have, like many others, only known Jeremy from Top Gear and Grand Tour, and I’ve always perceived him as this cocky character whom I also find funny of course.

“I expected him to be the same way when I started watching Clarkson’s Farm. But I am more than surprised with how big his heart is!” The fan went on to share their favourite moment from the show, a scene which many have praised as one of Clarkson’s Farm’s very best parts.

The fan adds: “He is so interested and humble (to a certain degree with Kaleb). He cares so much for the animals and even though it’s sad, I love seeing how deeply it hurts for both him and Lisa when they send them to the butchers or they die.

“He sees farming from such a wide perspective and he uses his screen time well to enlighten us non-farmers about the unknown reality of this hardcore profession in an interactive manner. I just love watching it! I just saw the episode of season three where Kaleb gets frustrated over the bad crops and how much work that goes into it. I must admit I teared up a bit.”

A sixth season is also expected to be filmed following the release of season six – although Jeremy has previously hinted the crew behind the cameras will take a long break after the fifth season before filming the sixth.

‘I visited a magical underwater river and one thing caught me completely off guard’

Rio Secreto in Cancun was discovered almost two decades ago by complete chance. Now the underground oasis has become a major tourist attraction in the Mexican seaside town

Tacos, tequila and sombreros are just some of the clichés that come to mind when thinking of the stunning country of Mexico. But what many visitors don’t realise is that there’s a whole other world lurking beneath the surface—literally.

Not only can holidaymakers enjoy cenotes—natural water pools believed by the Mayans to have a connection to the underworld—but they can also explore an entire underwater cave system.

Remarkably, Río Secreto in Cancún was only discovered in 2006 by a man who was hunting in the jungle. The story goes that he chased an iguana into a hole, which turned out to be the entrance to a vast underwater oasis. In the years since, the site has been painstakingly mapped, and guides now lead around 100 tourists per day through the cave, which is full of stalactites and stalagmites.

Bats also call the cave home, along with some interesting creepy crawlies—which I, for one, tried my best not to look at during a recent trip in June 2025. Head torches are needed to see the wonders of the cave, and at one point in the tour, our guide asked us to turn them off to show just how dark it really is inside.

READ MORE: Lesser known island next to huge tourist hotspot with unspoiled beaches and crystal-clear water

(Image: Río Secreto)

The long, glittering stalactites and stalagmites are otherworldly, leaving you feeling as though you’ve landed on another planet. Some physical strength is needed to clamber over rocks and swim through parts of the cave, but nothing too strenuous.

Participants are offered walking sticks to aid with this before walking through a short stretch of jungle to reach the mouth of the cave. Inside, the cool air is a sharp contrast to the 30°C sun beaming down at the entrance, adding to the surreal experience.

Our guide, Imelda, spoke passionately about the site as we ambled along the path. She ensured everyone in our group was happy and engaged throughout. Before we began the tour, Imelda introduced us to a Mayan shaman, who gave us a blessing before we made our way down the steps into another world.

We clambered under and over rocks and even got to swim in the cool water. As someone who is claustrophobic, I was never afraid—the tall cave ceilings mean you don’t feel cramped or stuck.

The experience was magical, but one thing that caught me off guard during the visit was the strict ban on photography. GoPros are not allowed inside the cave, nor is any camera equipment, including phones—some of which tourists had placed in waterproof pouches in preparation.

Instead, a photographer accompanies the group, capturing images as you walk and swim through the trail. These are available for purchase at the end of the excursion and can be viewed on a computer screen—akin to the ones you see after a ride at Alton Towers, albeit with slightly fewer screaming faces.

However, with a price tag of around $100 (around £72) for a photo package or $30 (around £21) per person, it’s a costly addition to the day. And when most of the images are of you carefully stepping over a rock in a lifejacket, helmet and wetsuit, it’s not surprising that I walked away with just the memories of such a special place.

We then made our way back to AVA Resort Cancún to end the day with a cocktail—or five—for a job well done.

Book it

Seven nights at the brand new five-star AVA Resort Cancun costs from just £1,651 per person on a premium all-inclusive basis in an Oceanfront King Room with Sea View and Balcony with two-person spa tub. Price is based on two adults sharing on an All-Inclusive Basis and includes direct return flights from London Gatwick to Cancun. Price based on select September 2025 departures. Visit AVA Resort Cancun for rooms.

A ticket to Rio Secreto is $89 (around £65) for adults and $44.50 (around £32) for children.

British Airways flights from London Gatwick to Cancun cost from £498.

British man visits Tenerife but is completely floored by cost of living

A man recently visited Tenerife but was left completely floored by the cost of living. According to him, he can’t believe how different it is to living in the UK

A British man who ventured to Tenerife on holiday has been completely floored by the cost of living. He recently opened up about the matter in a TikTok video, as he can’t believe just how differently prices compare when shopping in the travel hotspot.

The man, known as deebolar, said the UK “no longer makes sense to him”, after he visited Tenerife. After spending a day exploring the area, he instantly began to notice a major difference between life in the UK, as he said there’s a huge contrast when it comes to the prices of popular every day essentials.

He said: “I’ve been here for 24 hours, and this supermarket is my best friend, bro. For context, €1 is 85p, so you’re seeing €1 here for like two plus litres of Fanta, Coke, 7up.

“I mean, it’s off-brand, but who gives a toss? It’s like 70p/80p – those bottles are like 50p. And eight litres of water for €1.50 – that’s like £1.20, bro.

“[The] UK is not seeing me again, that might be six Desperados for €1.71. It might be one as well, I ain’t got a clue. Anyways, look at this, eight litres of water, two litres of Fanta, look at the price – €2.39.”

Showing some goods on a table to the camera, he added: “Everything on this table, probably like £5 or £6 at most. I’m telling you, it’s nuts.”

Content cannot be displayed without consent

The clip was captioned: “I have to go back to the cost of living crisis after this”, and the video has captured the attention of many. However, some people thought he needed to know some vital information.

One said: “Canary Islands have the lowest salary of Spain. This isn’t the paradise you think. Our rents are more than half our salary.” Another wrote: “Cheap for you. Unfortunately, Spanish salaries are every day lower because we pay more taxes and prices are increasing.”

A third replied, saying: “Nowhere is objectively cheap in this world. What is cheap for you might be expensive for the locals. This applies everywhere.”

Someone else asked: “Which supermarket is this? Going next week.” A fith also replied: “UK is expensive. Spain is cheaper, always.”

According to EasyFX, some Brits view Tenerife as an “appealing alternative” to the UK, as some see the cost of living as an attractive reason to move abroad. It states: “On average, rent in Tenerife is considerably cheaper than in the UK.

“A one-bedroom apartment in the island’s capital, Santa Cruz de Tenerife, typically costs between €500 and €700 (£415 – £580) per month, compared to the £1,200 to £1,500 minimum you would have to spend to rent an apartment in London, for example.

“Like most places in Europe, the cost of renting in Tenerife will vary depending on the location and property type you decide on. Popular areas like Santa Cruz, and La Laguna and tourist hotspots such as Los Cristianos and Costa Adeje tend to have higher rental prices.

“For those who prefer to cook at home, Tenerife’s grocery prices are another highlight and much more affordable than the UK. Supermarkets such as Mercadona, Hiperdino and Lidl, offer competitive prices, while local markets provide fresh produce and regional specialties at great rates.

“Shopping at farmer’s markets throughout Tenerife can yield even fresher produce at lower prices, making it an attractive option if you want to stick to a budget without compromising on quality.”

Meanwhile, the average salary in Tenerife is thought to come in at around €32,239 (£27,849.18) per year, with skilled professions like healthcare, education and technical fields generally bringing in between €1,500 (£1,295.75) and €2,000 (£1,727.63) per month. Even though the Canary Islands’ wages have increased a lot since 1978, they are still said to fall behind the Spanish national average.

X Factor icon looks completely different two decades on from hit reality show

X Factor icon Rowetta looks unrecognisable 19 years on as she stuns in a tartan miniskirt and thigh-high boots, proving her bold style is still going strong at 57

X Factor fans might do a double-take after seeing one of the show’s original stars looking completely different nearly two decades after finding fame.

Rowetta Satchell, or simply Rowetta, as she was known to millions, was one of the standout acts on the very first series of The X Factor back in 2004. The powerhouse soul singer wowed judges with her unforgettable take on Lady Marmalade, and her bold vocals and big personality quickly made her a fan favourite.

Already known from her days with legendary band Happy Mondays, Rowetta made it all the way to the quarter-finals of the ITV talent show, finishing fourth overall and becoming the last woman left standing, without ever facing the dreaded sing-off.

Fast-forward 19 years, and the 57-year-old is still commanding attention. Rowetta recently turned heads as she posed in a tartan miniskirt and leopard-print thigh-high boots on her way to an Indie Reunion event. She paired the look with a statement tee reading, “The ravers united will never be defeated.” She told fans she was “on my way.”

Simon Cowell once famously described her as “amazing but barking bloody mad”, and it’s fair to say her bold style and fearless energy haven’t faded one bit.

In an interview with Metro.co.uk, the singer opened up about her journey on the ITV competition, her music career, and why she never returned to reality TV despite being flooded with offers.

According to Rowetta, after The X Factor propelled her to TV fame in 2004

According to Rowetta, after The X Factor propelled her to TV fame in 2004, she turned down shows like Big Brother and I’m A Celebrity, only making exceptions for Children in Need and BBC Music Day.

Rowetta’s journey began in Leeds when Kate Thornton introduced her to the judges before live auditions were part of the show’s format. Her renditions of Lady Marmalade and Circle of Life wowed Simon and Sharon from the get-go.

She said she was grateful not to win because she and Simon Cowell had a difference of opinion on the final single.

Adding: “I think it would have been a disaster to win it, and then have to bring out songs like that. I love funky stuff. I don’t want to be doing Somewhere Over The Rainbow for the rest of my life.”

Rowetta said her reason for doing the show was her grandma, who encouraged her to be on TV like the singers she watched. Her career since has included collaborations with the likes of Solardo, Todd Terry, Oliver Heldens and Shed Seven.

A proud Mancunian, Rowetta loves being a role model on her local music scene, often performing at Manchester Pride. She said that when she was growing up, “there was no one to look up to from Manchester that was Black and female.”

Last year, in December 2024, it was announced that Rowetta would be leaving the band. The announcement came amidst speculation about past feuds with band member Shaun Ryder. In February this year, MailOnline reported Rowetta sharing that she has allegedly been physically abused by Shaun.

Trump insists Iran nuclear sites ‘completely destroyed’ in US strikes | Israel-Iran conflict News

The US bombed Iran’s nuclear sites Fordow, Natanz and Isfahan on June 22.

United States President Donald Trump has insisted that the strikes on several of Iran’s nuclear sites last week “completely destroyed” the facilities, rejecting US media reports citing a Pentagon assessment that the attacks only set Tehran’s nuclear programme back by a few months.

An initial intelligence evaluation suggested that the US bombardment failed to destroy Iran’s underground nuclear facilities, The New York Times, The Washington Post and CNN reported on Tuesday, citing officials familiar with the military intelligence report from the Pentagon’s Defense Intelligence Agency (DIA).

Two people familiar with the assessment had told CNN that Iran’s “enriched uranium was not destroyed” and the centrifuges were “largely intact”.

Another source told the US broadcaster that, according to the assessment, enriched uranium had been moved before the US strikes on Sunday.

Trump has maintained that the US strikes destroyed nuclear facilities at Fordow, Natanz and Isfahan.

“Fake news CNN, together with the failing New York Times, have teamed up in an attempt to demean one of the most successful military strikes in history,” Trump wrote in a post on his Truth Social platform.

“The nuclear sites in Iran are completely destroyed!” he wrote.

When reporters asked him about Iran rebuilding its nuclear programme on Tuesday, Trump said: “That place is under rock. That place is demolished.”

The White House said the intelligence assessment was “flat-out wrong”.

Press secretary Karoline Leavitt told CNN in a statement: “Everyone knows what happens when you drop fourteen 30,000 pound bombs perfectly on their targets: total obliteration.”

Steve Witkoff, the US special envoy to the Middle East, also dismissed the intelligence report.

“All three of those had most, if not all, the centrifuges damaged or destroyed in a way that it will be almost impossible for them to resurrect that programme,” Witkoff told Fox News on Monday night.

“In my view, and in many other experts’ views who have seen the raw data, it will take a period of years.”

Witkoff also called the leaking of the report “treasonous”.

“It ought to be investigated. And whoever did it, whoever is responsible for it, should be held accountable,” he added.

Reporting from Washington, DC, Al Jazeera’s Shihab Rattansi said an information war is under way.

“There are clearly figures in Washington who are very keen to leak a very preliminary Defense Intelligence Agency bombing assessment,” he said.

He noted that White House reporters received a press statement, saying the “leaking of this alleged assessment is a clear attempt to demean President Trump and discredit the brave fighter pilots who conducted a perfectly executed mission to obliterate Iran’s nuclear programme”.

“This is the first moment we are seeing, post-bombing, of the information landscape and how this information will be used and what effect it might have on Donald Trump going forward,” Rattansi said.

Aaron Rodgers says he’ll play one more season, then vanish completely

Looks like we won’t have Aaron Rodgers to kick around much longer.

The four-time league MVP said Tuesday on “The Pat McAfee Show” that he’s “pretty sure” the upcoming NFL season — his first as quarterback of the Pittsburgh Steelers and 21st overall — will be his last.

And after that, Rodgers said, he won’t be seen or heard from ever again.

“When this is all done, it’s Keyser Söze. You won’t see me,” Rodgers said, referring to the elusive villain in “The Usual Suspects.” “I won’t be in the public. I don’t want to live a public life. … I’m not going to be in in the public eye. When this is done, I’m done, and you won’t see me. And I’m looking forward to that.”

It might seem a tad difficult to imagine Rodgers willingly disappearing from public consciousness for any significant period of time. In addition to being one of the all-time greats at quarterback, Rodgers has kept a pretty high profile in popular culture over the last two decades.

He’s been in countless commercials. He filled in as host of “Jeopardy.” He made the short list of possible running mates during Robert Kennedy Jr.’s presidential bid (that spot ultimately went to Nicole Shanahan). He was in romantic relationships with such famous women as Olivia Munn, Danica Patrick and Shailene Woodley.

In recent years, Rodgers also has become known for his sometimes controversial opinions that he has been more than willing to share during his regular appearances on McAfee’s show and other platforms.

But, Rodgers insisted Tuesday, “I don’t want the attention,” although he acknowledged, “I know that’s a narrative out there.”

After 18 seasons with the Green Bay Packers and two with the New York Jets, Rodgers signed a one-year deal with the Steelers as a free agent this summer. At mini-camp this month, the Super Bowl XLV MVP told reporters that he had recently gotten married. He has not publicly revealed his wife’s name.

On Tuesday, Rodgers spoke for nearly four minutes about perceived invasions of his and his wife’s privacy. He accused paparazzi of “stalking” the two of them and asserted that unnamed media outlets had been either publishing sensitive information about the couple or just making things up about them.

“What happened to common decency about security and a personal life that we now have to dive into your details of where you live and what you’re doing and who you’re with and who your wife is and if you even have a wife,” Rodgers said. “Because my wife is a private person, doesn’t have social media, hasn’t been a public person, doesn’t want to be a public person. But now that somehow is a weird thing?”

He added: “My private life is my private life, and it’s going to stay that way. And I’m with somebody who wants to be private, and if and when she wants to be out, and there’s a picture, she’ll choose that. And she deserves the right to that.

“But the entitlement to information about my private life is so f— ridiculous and embarrassing. Like, hey, do what you got to do. But just try and leave me out of a conversation, Sports World, for a month. Try and just leave me out, my personal life, my professional life. Shakira, 22, gushed over the footballer as she said: “He boils my blood. He’s hilarious, witty, charming and funny. And he’s not bad looking.

“So the boy I would like to couple up with is… Harry.”

Taking to X, formerly Twitter, fans went wild after spotting the move.

One joked, “Not Helena moving away from harry,” with a laughing emoji, while someone else said: “Helena moving away from Harry is just so…. #LoveIsland.”

A third chimed in with: “Shakira picked harry wow the face on helena.”

While a fourth pointed out: “how’s helena upset that harry’s moved on when she said they’re done?”

Harry, 30, was previously seen sobbing as he appeared to backtrack on his behaviour towards Helena.

The ITV2 star caused shockwaves in the villa last week when he split with his day one partner – before he attempted to pursue a third different romantic connection in the compound just hours later.

Viewers previously begged Helena to stop being a “doormat” and dump Harry for good after he finally admitted to snogging Yasmin in the Hideaway.

His confession prompted the blonde beauty to storm off – before her villa pal Megan Forte Clarke, 24, unleashed a sweary rant.

In scenes aired on last night’s Aftersun, Harry appeared to have huge regret on calling time on his connection with Helena.

A video shows him in tears as he sat with Dejon, who said if he could have it his way he would see the pair together.

Semi pro footballer Harry, with tears in his eyes, replied: “Yeah. Like, we just have nothing. Do you know what I mean?”

He then paused to dab his face and added: “Where it’s just like, we were good and then it’s just like she can’t even be around me.

“Geez. It’s just weird man.

“Like it’ll never be the same now after the way I’ve acted, do you know what I mean?”

The official Love Island account on X posted the caption: “The consequences of Harry’s antics hit home.”

Yet many thought he was having a taste of his own medicine following his lothario conduct.

One fan was quick to write: “Crying as if all of this wasn’t his own doing. Men lack accountability fr.”

A second posted: “If it isn’t the consequences of your own actions….”

A third noted: “He’s realised he’s exhausted all his options that man does not want to be with Helena,” while one agreed and put: “And tomorrow he’ll want Emily we can’t predict his next move.”

One then mused: “Some self reflection is always good.”

SNEAKY SNOG

The final nail in the coffin for Helena and Harry came after his kiss with Yasmin.

Confident Yasmin initiated the smooch after Harry admitted he enjoyed their initial kiss in a villa challenge.

She told him bluntly: “I’m waiting for you to shut up and kiss me.”

Harry duly obliged and went all in. He grabbed Yasmin by the throat and bit her lip as they gave in to desire.

Yasmin was just as handsy, leaving her mark on Harry by scratching his neck.

But despite their snog, neither Harry nor Yasmin admitted to it when they returned from the Hideaway.

That was until their actions were exposed in a brutal firepit game on Thursday night.

Helena was left in shock as Yasmin revealed they’d kissed not once, but three times.

In tonight’s episode of Unseen Bits, now-axed Blu referred to Helena as Harriett a few times.

Seemingly getting Helena Ford confused with Harriett Blackmore from Love Island: All Stars, Blu got muddled up and kept referring to Helena as Harriett.

In a conversation with Ben and Tommy, Blu repeatedly said “Harriett” when talking about Helena.

Even in the beach hut doing in a confessional, Blu kept referring to Helena as Harriett.

In the clip where he was chatting to the boys, Blu asked what “blondie’s name” was again.

Ben and Tommy were then forced to correct him.

Blu was dumped from the villa in Friday night’s episode after on Thursday, he and Shea were left single and vulnerable when they were failed to get chosen by the girls to be in couples.

Between both of the lads, they were tasked with deciding who should stay and who should go.

But both lads were determined to stay and refused to back down.

Blu confidently said: “I ain’t f****** leaving.”

And Shea echoed: “I ain’t either.”

The Sun then revealed that the pair got into a war of words, with this seen in Friday night’s episode before the Islanders were tasked with deciding on who would be dumped from the Island.

Ultimately, Blu was dumped from the Island, despite him not agreeing with the outcome.

Taking a final jab at Shea after his exit, Blu didn’t hold back as he made a veiled dig.

Departures:

“We asked them [the Islanders] for their point of view as we were both really stubborn in that situation.

“We weren’t going to budge, so we had to get them to make the decision,” he explained in his exit interview.

Then, taking a subtle swipe at Shea, Blu said: “I felt like I had a stronger bond with everyone in there, obviously I’d been there a bit longer.

“I was constantly trying to make a connection and exploring everyone.

“I was making moves as quickly as I could, as opposed to Shea who was a bit more laid back,” he slammed.

Blu went on: “Everyone had their own thoughts.

“But listen, someone’s got to go at the end of the day.

“The way it went was better than I thought it would have gone; I had some nice things said about me and that meant a lot to me.”
