Gavin & Stacey star Joanna Page reveals reason she didn’t complain after being groped by ‘handsy’ presenter

GAVIN & Stacey star Joanna Page says she did not complain about being groped by a TV presenter because she “did not want to make a fuss”.

The Welsh actress, 48, who played Stacey Shipman in the hit BBC sitcom has written about it in her new memoir Lush.

She recalled the female producer of an entertainment show telling her the presenter could be “very handsy with the women”.

He started groping her and she had to knock his hand away.

Joanna said: “There are always going to be predators in an environment like this when you’ve got young, beautiful girls who are desperate to get a job.

“It is so hard to get that job.”

“Most of the time the people who are giving you those jobs are older men and they know that you want the job and there’s a million girls out there trying to get the job.”

She continued: “You don’t ever go, ‘Oh God, I’m going to report this’, because in those days you kind of didn’t, you just got on with it, it was what happened at work.

“It wasn’t every single job I went into, but in lots of different jobs there would be one type of thing.”

Mum-of-four Joanna, who is promoting her memoir Lush!, does not name the perpetrator as she says: “The legal people said, ‘Be careful’.”

Earlier this year, Joanna and Natalie Cassidy were dealt a blow when the Beeb failed to recommission their show, leaving it axed just one year after launching.

A BBC spokesperson told The Sun earlier this year: “What started as a six month project turned into more than a year of joyous TV chatter, and over 80 heart-warming episodes.

“Though they both loved making the series, Natalie Cassidy and Joanna Page have very busy schedules and on the 21st May, the final episode of Off the Telly will be released on BBC Sounds.

“Thank you to Nat and Jo for their warm recommendations and insider analysis, and to the whole team for keeping listeners in the loop with what to watch.

“We look forward to working with Nat and Jo again soon!”

UK village is ‘world’s most beautiful’ but locals complain of ‘unpleasant’ problem

The quintessential English village is renowned for its idyllic stone cottages along the River Coln, which captivated Victorian poet William Morris

For those seeking a peaceful and enchanting UK getaway, the quintessentially English village of Bibury should be at the top of your list. It has named as the world’s most beautiful village by Forbes magazine, beating other stunning locations across the globe.

Found in the heart of Gloucestershire, Bibury is renowned for its picturesque stone cottages that line the River Coln. It was this very charm that led Victorian poet William Morris to proclaim it the “most beautiful place in England”, enchanted by its honey-coloured houses and tranquil rural backdrop.

The village’s allure has not only captured the hearts of poets but also artists. Arlington Row is a famously beautiful road where historic cottages sit beside the river against a backdrop of verdant foliage and bright blooms.

Working with experts the Unforgettable Travel Company, Forbes said: “Nestled in the heart of the Cotswolds, Bibury unfurls like a watercolor dream—where honey-slicked cottages line Arlington Row; their mossy roofs whispering tales of 14th-century weavers.”

“The River Coln murmurs gently here—weaving through golden buttercups and forget-me-nots, while plump ducks paddle lazily beneath canopies of willow. Nearby, Bibury Trout Farm invites visitors to feed fish or enjoy a riverside picnic, and St. Mary’s Church offers a moment of stillness amid ancient stone—while the air carries the smell of blooming lavender, mingling with freshly-baked scones.”

Visitors can bask in the village’s tranquil vibe and discover its array of attractions, making it a perfect spot for a delightful winter retreat.

Attractions include the oldest trout farm in Britain, where guests can feed the fish and buy fresh goods from the local farm shop, cosy tearooms, and classic pubs like the historic The Swan situated by the river, which stands out as the most notable, reports the Express.

This cosy pub doesn’t just serve up hearty meals and pints, but also offers a place to lay your head after a day exploring. Tucked away in the countryside, Bibury is an idyllic location for scenic strolls through the Cotswolds and has become a favourite among snap-happy photographers.

Over on Tripadvisor, one tourist recounted their visit to Arlington Row with friends, saying: “Visiting Arlington Row with friends was like stepping into a peaceful, timeless postcard. The enchanting cottages charmed us with their historic allure.”

“We wandered the serene surroundings, snapping photos and soaking in the tranquil vibes. A perfect spot for a chill day out together!”

Despite the beauty, Bibury is struggling with the throngs of tourists. Residents have shared their frustration about visitors being brought in by the coach-load.

One local told the Guardian earlier this year: “We have such a beautiful place that we want to share, but the level of tourism and the hordes of people that come has just made it entirely unpleasant, and the infrastructure doesn’t really cope with it.

“All they want to do is come and take a photograph. They don’t stay in the village. They don’t linger enough to really ingest the beauty and historic value of the place. It’s literally, I think, to take a selfie.”

‘Get him OUT’ rage Love Island fans as they ‘complain to Ofcom’ over ‘bullying’

LOVE Island fans have been left fuming over one hunk’s alleged “bullying” behaviour in the Mallorca villa.

Viewers of the ITV2 series – which will wrap its summer season next week – have flooded social media with messages of concern about his supposed “harassment” and insisted they will contact the broadcasting watchdog.

Returning Love Island star Blu Chegini was axed from the matchmaking show earlier in the series, yet made a recent unexpected return alongside Megan Forte Clarke.

Yet while The Sun exclusively revealed how the Irish lass had broken an unwritten show rule and discussed her time outside the show compound, Blu has been getting fans’ backs up.

The star, partnered in a friendship couple with Helena, has been accused of being “furniture” after being pied three times on his show return.

Yet now viewer complaints have escalated to his supposed “bullying” of Toni – a claim reinforced by her mother on TikTok – and as such, they have told how they are contacting Ofcom with their worries.

It came after a particularly “bitter and sarky” scene featuring the pair, which led one fan to post on X: “I’m sorry Blu is a bully! @Ofcom
will be hearing from me.”

A second quizzed: “Why is Blu in the villa???????” as a third put: “I’m reporting Blu and Meg to Ofcom for harassment. Toni wanted nothing to do with it yet they’re literally trying to force a reaction out of her for no f**king reason.”

Another urged: “Can people complain to Ofcom about Blu and Meg’s behaviour then?”

One posted: “I can’t believe it. I want to make A OFCOM COMPLAINT.”

Another concluded: “Love island why did you bring Blu back and allow him to talk to women they way is he?? HELLO????”

Programme contributors will be offered a full package of measures to ensure they remain supported prior to, during and after the filming period on the show.

A welfare team is also solely dedicated to the Islanders both during the show and after.

The Sun has gone to Love Island for comment.

He previously clashed with Toni at The Grafties and last night fans claimed he was “obsessed” with the American during a game of truths last night.

During one part of the challenge, Blu turned his board around and told the group: “This is directed at Toni really, because I’ve tried to give her my honest opinion and she didn’t take it.

“I’m not scared, I’ve tried and… Toni.”

As the Islanders burst into laughter, Toni shot back: “I still don’t care unfortunately. Sorry Blu.

“I don’t have it in me anymore.”

Blu replied: “That’s cool, I’m glad you don’t care,” as the awkward moment between them came to an end.

It’s not their first clash in the villa, and now fans were quick to claim that Blu is ‘obsessed’ with Toni.

HUGE COMEBACK

Meanwhile, there could be more potential drama for the pair after The Sun was first to report how the “entire” cast of the 2025 season will return ahead of the final.

We told how this year’s Love Island cohort will make a second entrance into the Mallorca villa.

A source told us the scenes will air on ITV2 soon and said: “The entire cast will be returning to the villa this week – just like the ‘jury’ in All Stars earlier this year.

“They’ll come face to face with the stars who dumped them, and in some cases, have slagged them off live on TV!”

Our source added of the current show twist: “It’ll be explosive and must watch TV – during All Stars Liv Hawkins spilled a secret that changed the outcome of the entire show so the cast will be VERY nervous when they realise what is about to happen!”

Glastonbury fans complain over BBC’s Rizzle Kicks snub after Jordan Stephens’ message

Jordan Stephens and Harley Alexander-Sule, known as the duo Rizzle Kicks, performed on the Other Stage at Glastonbury today with Jade Thirlwall among those in the crowd

Fans of duo Rizzle Kicks shared their disappointment with the BBC earlier over their set at Glastonbury Festival. The reaction came after bandmate Jordan Stephens had himself issued a message about filming at the festival.

Jordan and his bandmate Harley Alexander-Sule, both 33, performed together as Rizzle Kicks on the Other Stage at Worthy Farm in Somerset this afternoon. It marked the duo’s return to the festival after making their Glastonbury debut on the BBC Introducing Stage back in 2013.

Prior to their latest set, Jordan announced yesterday that the BBC, the “exclusive broadcast partner” of Glastonbury, would not be filming it. He shared the news in a statement issued to fans on Instagram ahead of their return today.

Jordan wrote: “The BBC are not filming our Glastonbury set. If you’re not there you will not be able to watch it back. It might well be once in a lifetime. Who knows.” He added at the time: “The set is [fire emoji] and we’re buzzin for it.”

His partner Jade Thirlwall, 32, later expressed disappointment over the situation. The Little Mix member, who is set to play the Woodsies Stage tomorrow, referenced the news on her Instagram Story whilst sharing her excitement over getting to see him perform at Glastonbury.

Alongside a selfie, she wrote this afternoon: “What du mean I’m about to watch my bf at glasto when we were dreaming about it this time last year. Rizzle Kicks set isn’t televised (booo) so get into it and get here to the other stage lol.”

Jade isn’t alone in her disappointment, with a number of fans having expressed frustration over Rizzle Kicks’ set not being available on BBC iPlayer. Several other acts who performed on the Other Stage today, like Franz Ferdinand and Gracie Abrams, were livestreamed. The livestream for that stage however began at 2.15pm, which was after Rizzle Kicks’ set.

One fan wrote on X: “Rizzle Kicks not being broadcast at Glastonbury is a travesty, especially compared to some of the s**t that they are showing.” Another wrote: “@BBCiPlayer why can’t I found Rizzle Kicks. I’m really disappointed.”

A third person, who had previously requested a livestream be available for the set, later posted: “Thanks guys missed Rizzle Kicks great job.” Another said shortly after the duo’s set began: “No Rizzle Kicks on iPlayer, sort it out lads.”

Approached for comment, a spokesperson for the BBC told the Mirror tonight that the broadcaster will be providing more than 90 hours of performances. They said: “The BBC, Glastonbury’s exclusive broadcast partner, brings audiences a two-month celebration of the festival this June and July.

“Our BBC iPlayer coverage provides over 90 hours of performances, with live streams of the five main stages, in addition to The Glastonbury Channel and over 90 sets to watch on demand throughout July. There is also extensive coverage on TV, radio and BBC Sounds – including over 30 performances and DJ sets that will be available to hear on demand on BBC Sounds throughout July.”

Gardeners’ World fans upset over huge shift as they complain minutes into show

BBC’s Gardeners’ World is facing a wave of backlash as fans have accused the programme of becoming “a lifestyle program”.

The BBC’s treasured show Gardeners’ World has left its viewers reeling with some claiming the programme is leaning more towards becoming “a lifestyle program.”

The episode, which aired on June 20 to coincide with the summer solstice, took viewers to Damson Farm’s enchanting setting in the stunning Somerset countryside where Frances Tophill was gardening.

Yet, seasoned watchers promptly alleged that the series had veered dramatically from its original intentions.

One irate viewer vented on X, once known as Twitter, saying “Percy Thrower would be turning in his grave. He was a great gardener,” recalling the esteemed presenter who led the show during the 1970s.

On screen, Frances delved into edible gardens and wildlife-conscious planting and Carol Klein dispensed advice for creating vibrant summer pots.

Meanwhile, Adam Frost visited a gardener customising her garden to withstand recurring flooding. Despite the captivating scenes and moving narratives, a portion of the audience remained discontented.

But the gripes don’t stop at the perceived shortage of actual gardening advice – even the birdsong at Monty Don’s Longmeadow abode has been caught in crossfire, with dubious viewers levying charges against the BBC for allegedly adding artificial chirps, reports the Express.

Monty himself, however, has assured fans that the mix of bird calls is completely authentic, though sometimes it’s more overwhelming than intended.

Monty Don has responded to a common gripe from Gardeners’ World viewers on the podcast, saying: “We’ve had a number of letters along the lines of, ‘I watch Gardeners’ World and I really enjoy it, but it’s spoiled for me by the fact that you impose this bird song which is so unrealistic and so over the top… why don’t you just record the natural sounds?’ And the answer is, ‘I hate to disappoint you, but that is the natural sound’.”

One disgruntled fan tweeted their dissatisfaction with the show’s direction, commenting: “Not much horticultural guidance on #GardenersWorld these days.”

Another viewer expressed their longing for the programme’s past focus, tweeting: “#GardenersWorld is becoming a lifestyle program for people with chronic anxiety. I remember when it taught you how to garden. Now anything goes.”

Monty also revealed that the birdsong at Longmeadow is sometimes so overwhelming it disrupts production: “It is really loud. And occasionally when we’re filming, we delay filming because the bird song is so loud, that even to us it feels a bit odd and unnatural.”

Since Monty and his wife Sarah took charge of Longmeadow in 1991, they have turned a two-acre patch of neglect into a verdant sanctuary featured on the series.

The couple’s garden stands out as a wildlife refuge amidst neighbouring farmland ravaged by excessive use of chemicals.

“So Longmeadow is like, literally an oasis surrounded by not-so-good,” Monty said. “We have great density of blackbirds and song thrushes and blackcaps and all kinds of songbirds.”

Aston Villa complain to Premier League after ‘big mistake’ at Old Trafford

Aston Villa will complain to the Premier League after a “big mistake” by referee Thomas Bramall contributed to them losing 2-0 at Manchester United and missing out on the Champions League.

With the match goalless and Villa down to 10 men after goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez was correctly sent off, the visitors thought they had scored when Morgan Rogers nudged the ball away from United goalkeeper Altay Bayindir and slotted home.

However, Bramall blew for a foul, thinking Bayindir had two hands on the ball, though television footage showed otherwise.

Because Bramall stopped play before the ball entered the net, the video assistant referee (VAR) could not intervene.

Moments later, Amad Diallo headed United in front – and Christian Eriksen’s late penalty condemned Villa to a defeat that meant they finished sixth and missed out on Champions League football on goal difference.

In Villa’s post-match news conference, director of football operations Damian Vidagany said the club were unhappy 35-year-old Bramall had been given such an important game.

“We are going to send a complaint,” said Vidagany. “The complaint is not about the decision, it is about the selection of the referee – one of the most inexperienced referees in the Premier League.

“It’s not about the decision, clearly it was a mistake. The complaint is about the referee. The problem is why the international referees were not here today.”

Bramall first refereed in the Premier League in August 2022 and his games this season have largely been in either the top flight or the second tier, with 11 in the Premier League and 12 in the Championship.

Villa boss Unai Emery was visibly furious with the decision to disallow Rogers’ goal – and award United their late penalty.

Speaking after the game, he said: “The TV is clear but, of course, we have to accept it. It was a mistake. A big mistake.”

The Professional Game Match Officials Limited (PGMOL) – the body responsible for refereeing games in English professional football – declined to comment.
