The airline is not happy and has said so in no uncertain terms

Ryanair has announced major changes at a European airport that serves three UK cities. The airline has revealed it is making cutbacks that will affect one European airport that serves passengers to and from Manchester, Newcastle and Edinburgh.

The airline will reduce the number of seats on offer at Charleroi in Belgium by by 1.1m in 2026 – with another planned 1.1m seat cuts in 2027. The move comes after the company criticised Charleroi City Council for what it said were plans for a €3 tax per passenger departing from Charleroi from April 2026.

It also attacked “the silly Belgium government” and blamed it for announcing a five-fold increase in passenger taxes from €2 in Jan 2025 to €10 in Jan 2027. The firm said in a statement: “These tax increases are silly when other EU countries including Sweden, Slovakia, Hungary, Italy and Albania, have abolished Aviation Taxes to grow traffic, tourism and jobs. Belgium’s tax rises will now send traffic and jobs to other, more competitive, EU countries.”

Ryanair currently offers flights to and from Charleroi and Manchester, Newcastle and Edinburgh. Their website shows currently that many flights are on offer this month alone to and from the UK cities. Ryanair has yet to say which destinations will be affected by the reductions.

Ryanair’s CEO Michael O’Leary said: “Only the Belgium Govt could be so silly to raise Aviation Taxes five-fold, at a time when Sweden, Hungary, Italy, Slovakia and Albania are abolishing their Aviation Taxes. These taxes have failed, and have damaged air travel and tourism in many EU countries, which is why they are being scrapped.

“In Belgium however, the De Wever Govt seems determined to fail, while others are succeeding. Having enjoyed Ryanair’s low fare growth at Charleroi and Zaventem Airport over the last 20 years, the Govt has now decided to raise aviation Taxes (by 5-fold!!) at a time, when almost all other EU States are abolishing them.

“What these silly politicians don’t understand is that aircraft and passengers are mobile. If Belgium wants to tax passengers, then they simply switch to lower cost, non-tax, destinations, like Sweden, Italy, Hungary, Slovakia and Albania. Belgium’s loss will be to the gain of these lower cost, tax-cutting States.”

Ryanair criticises changes as ‘idiotic’

The airline said in a furious statement announcing the reduction in seat numbers that “Ryanair calls on Prime Minister De Wever to reverse these silly tax rises, which will damage Belgium’s competitiveness, and cost Belgium millions of passengers, thousands of flights, and thousands of jobs in tourism and support industries.

“While almost every other EU country is abolishing Aviation Taxes, it makes no sense for Belgium to increase passenger taxes 5-fold, when these taxes have failed in every other EU State. Ryanair, which is Belgium’s largest airline, carrying 11.6m passengers to/from Belgium in 2025, will now cut this figure to (10.6m) in 2026 (if Charleroi Council goes ahead with its €3 tax plan) and will cut further to 9.6m passengers in 2027, if the Belgium Govt doesn’t reverse this idiotic 5-fold increase in passenger taxes.

“The competitiveness of European Aviation is already being damaged by Europe’s mad ETS tax scheme, which taxes only intra-EU flights, while exempting all non-EU flights, and Belgian citizens/visitors cannot be asked to pay even more of these unfair and damaging taxes.

“As many other European States have shown, taxing air travel loses traffic, routes and jobs. If the Belgium economy really wants to grow, then the Govt needs to scrap these silly travel taxes, and allow low-fare airlines – led by Ryanair – to return to growth in Zaventem and in Charleroi, instead of cutting over 2m seats, which is what we now plan to do over the next 2 years.”

The Charleroi City Council has reportedly rejected Ryanair’s suggestion to cancel the tax. Instead, reports say the measure has already been approved and is in the 2026 budget.

KELLY Clarkson has given a rare glimpse at her family life with her two children following the death of their father, Brandon Blackstock. 

The TV host and Breakaway singer, 43, has been keeping her children River, 11, and nine-year-old Remington (known as Remy) away from the spotlight, even more so since Brandon died in August last year.

While she never addressed him directly, a new video on the YouTube Channel for The Kelly Clarkson Show saw the star speak a bit about what life looks like now for them. 

Speaking in a Q+A, Kelly was asked by a fan: “’What is the one thing you do every day that brings you joy?” 

As Kelly was getting final touches of make-up put on her before going on stage, she beamed as she said: “Snuggle. Oh my God. My kids… look, they’re nine and eleven, they’re that special little fun stage where they can wipe their own behinds, but they’re still small enough to, like, love cuddling and love snuggles.” 

“There’s been a lot for our family recently, and so I have allowed my kids to sleep with me quite a bit,” she added. “So it’s my two dogs, my two kids and me. It’s a lot.

“It’s been really special though, because the conversations you have during that time are pretty cute. So that’s probably my favorite time of day.” 

She also revealed that, when they were little, she would sing Once Upon a Dream from Cinderella as a lullaby to get them to sleep. 

Kelly and Brandon divorced in 2022 after nine years of marriage. He was the son of her former manager, Narvel Blackstock, and former stepson of country singer, Reba McEntire.

During their marriage, Brandon acted as Kelly’s manager, but they split in 2020 with their divorce only being finalised two years later. 

He was living at a $1.7million ranch in Montana with his partner before his death.

In August last year, Brandon died at the age of 48, after a private three-year battle with melanoma. 

A day before his death, Kelly announced she was postponing her planned residency in Las Vegas in order to focus on spending time with her kids.

River and Remy are the youngest of Brandon’s four children, with the music businessman having Savannah and Seth with his first wife, Melissa Ashworth.

A day later, Starstruck Entertainment, the agency where Blackstock worked, confirmed that he had died.

“It is with great sadness that we share the news that Brandon Blackstock has passed away,” they wrote in the statement first published by People.

“Brandon bravely battled cancer for more than three years.

“He passed away peacefully and was surrounded by family.

“We thank you for your thoughts and prayers and ask everyone to respect the family’s privacy during this very difficult time.”

PALOMA Faith has shared a look at her blossoming baby bump after a luxury break in Oman. 

The singer is pregnant with her third child, and ahead of the birth whisked away for a sunsoaked getaway with her two daughters and partner, Stevie Thomas.

Sharing pictures from the resort’s poolside, Paloma looked relaxed and happy as she posed for selfies, while in another she was seen asleep in a bikini with her bump on display. 

Alongside photographs of the Middle Eastern resorts sights, Paloma was also seen beaming next to Stevie in another loved up snap. 

“Amazing trip to Oman with the boy, kids and bump,” she wrote alongside the pictures on Instagram. 

“I have to say it’s an amazing part of the world and I am so blessed to share this time with my kids before new baby comes ….. taking time out with family from work is something to push for and I really try.”

For both babies, Paloma was open about years of fertility struggles, undergoing IVF in order to conceive. 

After splitting from Leyman in 2022 after a 10 year relationship, it’s believed Paloma and music venue director Stevie secretly dated for a year before going public with their romance in March 2025. 

While she’s been praising her current pregnancy experience, in December she worried fans as she was rushed to hospital and put on a nebuliser after a nasty bout of Flu A.

Thankfully she has since fully recovered, taking the opportunity to ditch the British cold for a resort trip abroad with her family and loved ones.

ROBBIE Williams has revealed the heartbreaking text he received from his actress daughter Teddy at 2am.

Robbie, 51, who shares 13-year-old Teddy with his wife Ayda Field, has opened about his teenager’s torment over the future.

Opening up to Scott Mills on Radio 2, he talked about Teddy’s dream of becoming famous like him.

“Ted in particular is so desperate for it,” Robbie revealed.

“Now, when I was growing up in Stoke-on Trent, I was also incredibly desperate for it, whatever it was, you know, watching Top Of The Pops on Thursday and thinking, how the hell do I get in that box in the corner of this room and be one of those people?

“But I’ve never seen it so acute as I do with Ted. She sent me a text the other day. And it goes, let me get this.

“It says – this was Thursday, six minutes past two in the morning, ‘Dad, what if I’m not a singer? It’s my biggest fear not to be a singer.’ Biggest capital letters. ‘What if I’m nothing?’”

Robbie then jokingly added: “And I was like, ‘babe, you’re a nepo. You’ll be fine!’”

Turning serious again, the star said: “The only thing that worries me about it is, she’s incredibly sensitive. I am painfully, painfully sensitive.

“In some quarters it would be deemed as being oversensitive. She is worse than me. And I’m worried about what words will do to her.

“For me, it was either this or stacking shelves at ASDA – so this, every single day and for Ted, she’s got options.”

MOVIE DEBUT

Robbie’s daughter Teddy recently made her acting debut in Rebel Wilson and Danny Dyer film, Tinsel Town.

The Christmas movie features Teddy as the daughter of actress Rebel’s character Jill.

The teenager was seen at the premiere of the movie in November with her proud parents.

The teenager was all smiles as she stepped out on the red carpet with dad Robbie and mum Ayda.

It was revealed last February that Teddy was making her movie debut in Tinsel Town after being spotted filming alongside Rebel and Danny.

A source told The Sun at the time: “Teddy was born to be a star – after all, her parents are both the ultimate performers.

“Robbie and Ayda have been keen to keep her out of the spotlight for as long as possible though – obscuring her face on social media etc – so this is all very much being driven by Teddy who’s wanted to be on stage since she was old enough to talk!

The high-profile couple have consciously kept their children away from the public eye for most of their lives.

Loose Women panellist Ayda previously said: “We never show their faces, it’s really important to us.

“We’re really proud and we want to share absolutely everything but there’s a law in this country that means they can’t put pictures up of kids in the papers unless you’re posting their faces.”

KATHERINE Ryan has made a candid confession about motherhood, just three months after welcoming baby daughter Holland.

The comedian, 42, is a mum-of-four and also shares kids Fred, four, and Fenna, three, with her husband Bobby Koostra, while her 16-year-old daughter Violet is from a previous relationship.

And now, Katherine has hinted that there will be no more children to come – something which wasn’t an easy decision.

Sharing a snap of baby Holland in her arms to Instagram, Katherine wrote: “Meanwhile, I gave away a bunch of newborn clothes today and it was heartbreaking.

“I’ve been addicted to pregnancy for give years and giving it up is tough.”

Back in October last year, Bobby described his partner Katherine as the “MVP ” and “Patrick Mahomes of child birth” – referencing the American football player’s famously strong performance on the field.

In the post, which announced the birth of their daughter Holland, he shared a picture of Katherine sipping on a glass of champagne and revealed she had given birth in just 45 minutes.

Previously, Katherine admitted to The Sun that she “loved” having children and wanted to keep going for as long as possible.

She said in February last year: “I love having children. You can make people – it’s magic.”

“So I’d like as many as we can until it becomes an issue where I can’t spend time with the ones I already have. I think that’s the balance.”

Talking before she had Holland, Katherine continued: “One more, at least, and then if I felt like I had enough attention or life left in me – because I’m also getting old and tired – then I think I’d like five or six children.

“And I do have a Kardashian mindset, in that when I’m gone, or I’m no longer of interest and I’ve got my little pied-à-terre in Marylebone and I’m alone – an eccentric elderly woman watching musical theatre by myself while Bobby’s inside – it’d be so nice for the siblings to get together and have this life beyond me.”

However, parenthood hasn’t been smooth sailing for Katherine either.

Last year, she admitted how “sleep deprived, tired and hungry” both she and Bobby were while juggling their brood.

Appearing on Jamie Laing and Sophie Habboo’s podcast, Newlyweds, she said: “It really tests your relationship. 

“You used to be the most important person in each other’s lives, you cease to be the most important person in each other’s lives. There’s a shift in, you know, roles and responsibilities and focus. 

“You’re both tired and you’re hungry and you’re sleep deprived – that’s how they torture prisoners. I haven’t slept in four years, but I’m kind of fine with it.”

With three kids under five, the sleep is unlikely to come back just yet!

THE former Countdown star, 65, is known for keeping her children out of the spotlight but in a rare instance, she decided to share snaps of herself with her children on social media.

Katie and Cameron are Carol’s children with former husband Patrick King, a professional cricketer whom she married in 1990 and divorced in 2000.

Her post comes after revealing she’s been suffering from a “chronically debilitating” illness.

She revealed the diagnosis while commenting on Coronation Street star Sally Dynevor’s Instagram post.

Carol wrote: “Morning Sally. I’ve done the same this year with a full body MRI and all clear thankfully.

“Having the special blood test for 70 cancers this week. Early detection where possible is now my mantra. The costs have come down dramatically for these services but they are sadly still a lot for most people.”

She then added: “I was struck with sudden and chronically debilitating rheumatoid arthritis almost a year ago and it’s taken a long time to get the meds right, so I no longer take my health for granted in any way xx

“Sending huge love and thanks 🙏🏼 to you for spreading the word and your honesty in all these matters. It helps no end of us mere mortals.”

GORDON and Tana Ramsay have paid an emotional tribute to their newly-married daughter Holly and her twin brother Jack on their birthday after the wedding drama.

Despite a beautiful ceremony for Adam and Holly, their big day was plagued with drama from his ongoing feud with his side of the family.

He disinvited several members of his family including his parents, brother, uncle and aunt.

His mum was uninvited after she was left out of Holly’s hen do celebrations.

She had intended to watch the lavish ceremony unfold from the street, but we exclusively revealed she had a last minute change of heart after her husband Mark convinced her it would be “too upsetting”.

The family told The Sun: “She was saying she’d be there for sure but she now accepts it would be too sad and she doesn’t want to spoil his big day.”

The Olympic swimmer’s brother James was previously arrested over allegations he sent threats to him during his stag do.

After being disinvited from the wedding, James posted an old photograph of him and their mother Caroline standing outside of the wedding venue.

However, he deleted it from his Instagram stories just 15 minutes later.

The photo, which was taken on another occasion and not on the day of the wedding, showed the mother-son duo all dressed up in a suit and dress outside the iconic building.

His father Mark was offered the chance to attend the wedding, but on the condition that he sat at the back of the church.

Unsurprisingly, he declined, meaning Adam’s sister Beth was the only family member to attend, where she was one of Holly’s three maid’s of honour.

Caroline, who has taken the snub particularly hard, took to Instagram today to repost words from another social media user that highlight how she is feeling.

Her Instagram story re-post read: “I won’t end this year pretending everything was fine.

“I lost a piece of myself this year that I will never get back, and I’m not forcing a smile like it didn’t change me.

“So no…I won’t be saying ‘2026 is going to be my year.’ I’ll be praying that I recover next year, that my heart never has to break like this again, that I never have to survive something like this again.”

HELEN Flanagan has opened up on a “difficult” fallout from her split with her ex that impacts her relationship with her daughter Matilda.

The former Coronation Street actress, 35, took to her Instagram page to give an insight into her state of mind after her children returned from their Christmas stay with Scott Sinclair.

In her frank video Helen, who starred as the Wicked Queen in Liverpool’s Snow White panto through the festive season, began by stating that she now had her kids back.

“And I think it’s almost like she feels like I’m kind of disowning her in a way when I’ve not got her and it’s not.

“Regardless of mine and her Dad’s relationship I always want her to have a relationship with her father because I think that’s good for her.

This comes weeks after Helen publicly slated her ex Scott Sinclair for skipping their son’s Christmas nativity.

The mum-of-three lashed out online at the Bristol Rovers footballer after he posted about spending a weekend in Abu Dhabi at the Grand Prix instead.

Scott had posted snaps from his weekend in the United Arab Emirates where he watched Lando Norris secure his maiden Drivers’ Championship title.

The Coronation Street star split from her ex-fiancé Scott in 2022 after 13 years together.

She recently hinted at trouble “co-parenting” with Scott, telling The Sun: “He lives like Somerset and I live in Lancashire. So we live so far away from each other, which is really difficult when you’ve got three young children.

“I hate calling it co-parenting because I don’t really feel like a co-parent to be honest with you anyway.”

She recently took to her social media pages to praise her mum for her support in raising their brood.

“My mum’s incredible,” Helen said.

“She really helps me bring up my children really. I’m very lucky to have that support.”

SOPHIE Habboo has shared a collection of intimate pictures of her and Jamie Laing’s first Christmas as parents.

The presenter husband-and-wife welcomed their first child, baby boy Ziggy, at the beginning of December, and since then have been adapting to life as a mum and dad.

The happy couple revealed back in June they were set to expand their family – and have been keeping fans updated ever since.

CARDI B’s boyfriend Stefon Diggs seemed to finally confirm he has welcomed more than one baby this year.

The New England Patriots player, 32 – who welcomed a son with rapper Cardi in November – posted three separate photos of three infants on his Instagram Stories on Christmas Day.

In one, Stefon held a baby boy in front of a colorful Christmas tree.

“One of my boys’ first Christmas,” he proudly posted.

The identity of the baby’s mother is unclear- though Stefon was rumored to have fathered a mystery child after TMZ obtained photos of him loading a baby carrier outside a New York hospital in May.

In the second photo, the NFL star posed with a baby girl – who appears to be Charliee, his daughter with Instagram model Lord Gisselle, who also goes by Aileen Lopera.

The U.S. Sun exclusively confirmed Stefon was the father of Aileen’s baby after she took him to court to confirm paternity and request child support in Los Angeles.

The baby was born in April 2025 – just seven months before Cardi gave birth to his son.

In Stefon’s third photo, Cardi, 33, held their son in front of a sparkling Christmas tree.

“Miss yaw!” he captioned the pic. “Don’t be squeezing him too tight, you making him soft.”

Cardi and Stefon first stepped out publicly in May of this year, and she announced her pregnancy in September.

She is the mother of three kids with ex Offset- Kulture, Wave and Blossom. She gave birth to her youngest daughter in September 2024.

Stefon also has an older daughter named Nova, 8.
