COPS have released CCTV footage of a man they are hunting in connection with an alleged sexual assault.

A man is alleged to have attacked a woman as she sat next to him on a busy train from Birmingham to London.

British Transport Police confirmed a probe had been launched into the shocking assault.

The force said: “Detectives investigating a sexual assault on board a train from Birmingham New Street to London Euston have released this CCTV image in connection.

“On Wednesday 30 July at around 6.36pm a man sexually assaulted a woman as she sat next to him on the train.

“Detectives believe the man in this CCTV image may have information that could help with their investigation.

“Anyone who recognises him is asked to contact BTP by texting 61016, or by calling 0800 40 50 40 quoting reference 674 of 30 July.

“Information can also be given anonymously to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”

CCTV has been released showing the last time a British round-the-world sailor was seen before he disappeared.

James Nunan, 34, was five months into a global solo sailing trip when he mysteriously vanished on August 18.

James from Reading, better-known to family and friends as Jemsie, had been at the pub, Paddy’s Anchor, in the island capital Las Palmas.

Hours later, he vanished after going for a late-night snack at the kebab shop six minutes away from the pub.

Spanish cops have now released an image of James, in their desperate attempt to locate him.

He is pictured ordering food at the kebab joint wearing a blue T-shirt with his Jack Russell on his lap.

In one photograph, three diners appear to be enjoying a meal behind him as he stands at the checkout.

It comes as official records show James reported his passport as lost or stolen at the Irish Embassy on August 19 – a day after he was last seen or heard from.

At the time, his half-sister Nikita said: “We know he’d had a drink but as a family we don’t believe he would recklessly set sail in the dark at night,” she said.

“It doesn’t make sense for it to be ‘oh he fell overboard’ because he was drunk, there are a lot of holes in the story.” 

Paddy’s Anchor previously shared appeals by James’ worried family on social media saying: “Many of you have been asking, so we want to share this post from Jemsie’s family.

“His sister is still searching for him after he was last seen here in Las Palmas.

“His boat has since been found off the coast of Gran Canaria, but there has been no contact from him since.”

A call was made between August 24 and 25 in relation to James’ boat as police found it a day later 50 miles offshore.

At first they said James’ Jack Russell, known as Thumbelina, wasn’t on board but later said she was found with the boat.

There remains no information on where James could be.

A witness came forward to claim he spoke to James as he said the Brit was drunk but not acting in any unusual manner.

He had reportedly told him about his sailing adventures and that he planned to head to Lanzarote.

Some pub staff also claimed they were told not to speak to anyone about his mysterious disappearance.

A man reportedly answered phone calls at the pub saying: “It’s an open investigation and we’ve been told not to speak to anyone and I’ve just got to go with that I’m afraid.”

Asked if it was local police or Mr Nunan’s family who had asked him not to speak, he said: “I can’t talk about it, sorry.”

After his boat was found with the dog on board, it was towed back to Argineguin in the south of Gran Canaria.

A spokesperson for the Civil Guard said: “We are looking into this case. Several lines of investigation are being pursued.”

Jemsie had been about five-and-a-half months into his solo sailing trip when he vanished – and had been planning to travel to Brazil.

Nikita added that a distress signal was sent out in relation to his boat between August 24 and 25.

The dog found on board has since been taken to an animal shelter.

Jemsie’s father has travelled to the island searching for any signs of the missing 34-year-old. 

The Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office has confirmed it is “supporting the family of a British man who has been reported missing in Spain“.

The National Police in Las Palmas and court officials on the island have been approached for comment.

A MAN allegedly exposed himself to an 11-year-old schoolgirl in a pub in broad daylight.

Police have now released CCTV images of a man they hope to speak to in relation to the incident.

It was reported that the incident occurred at a Gloucester Pub yesterday at around noon.

The man was reportedly sat near the family of two children and their grandparents.

The 11-year-old girl later reported that the man had been staring at her.

During a moment when the grandfather and other child had left the table, and the grandmother was distracted, the man allegedly exposed his genitals to the young girl.

He then reportedly proceeded to leave the pub.

The man has been described as being 5ft 9ins tall, aged in his 50s and had grey hair.

He was spotted wearing glasses, a blue and white checked shirt and dark shorts.

Officers have conducted enquiries since the report and would now like to speak to the man pictured in connection with the incident.

COPS are urgently hunting for a topless man after a woman was allegedly sexually assaulted on the Tube.

Police said that their suspect struck on a Jubilee line train travelling between Southwark and London Bridge on Monday, June 30.

The alleged sexual assault happened just before 5pm, when thousands of commuters would be leaving the office and getting on the London Underground.

Now, the British Transport Police (BTP) has released a CCTV image in the hopes someone can identify the person of interest.

The picture shows a middle-aged white man of medium build with short dark hair.

He is wearing black and white patterned shorts and appears to have a tattoo on his right arm.

A BTP statement said: “Officers would like to speak to the man pictured as they believe he may have information which could help their investigation.”

The statement added: “Anyone who recognises him is asked to contact BTP by texting 61016 or by calling 0800 40 50 40, quoting reference 500 of 30 June.

“Alternatively, you can contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.”

Data released by Transport for London revealed over 800 reports of sexual assault on the London Underground were made in 2024.

This was an increase of 56 assaults when compared to the previous year, with 745 occurring between April 2022 and April 2023.

Blackpool Police has now released CCTV images of a man they want to speak to in relation to the assault.

Cops believe he may have been in the town centre area throughout Friday evening and Saturday morning.

In addition to the manhunt, they are also appealing for CCTV, doorbell or dashcam footage between the town centre and Claremont area.

In a statement to Lancashire Live, Blackpool Police said: “We’re asking if you recognise this man after an incident over the weekend.

“At around 4:45am on the morning of Saturday 28th June, we received a report of a sexual assault in Blackpool.

“It was reported that a man sexually assaulted a woman in the Claremont area of North Blackpool.

“An investigation is underway, and the woman is being supported.”

Anyone that recognises the man, has information, or footage that could assist the investigation should contact 101 quoting log 0270 of 28th June.

BBC Breakfast hosts Rachel Burden and Ben Boulos have come under fire for laughing during a segment on a piece of art being damaged by tourists in Italy.

The controversy unfolded during Sunday’s (15 June) episode of the chat show when the presenting pair returned to the red sofa to discuss some of the day’s trending stories. One of them featured viral CCTV footage from the Palazzo Maffei museum in Verona, Italy, which showed a couple damaging a Van Gogh-style chair adorned with hundreds of crystals.

Ben introduced the clip, asking: “Now have you ever visited a museum and been tempted, even though you’re not supposed to, to touch a piece of art and thought better of it?”

As the CCTV footage began to play, Rachel added: “Well just watch this because this is CCTV footage of a couple who decided to try out a chair.”

“This was a Van Gogh style chair covered in hundreds of crystals inside a museum in Verona,” she explained, as the video showed the chair beginning to sway.

“It wasn’t supposed to look like that. It wasn’t supposed to be wonky. But as you can see…” Rachel continued, as Ben burst out laughing on air.

“The man decided ‘I might as well try it out’ and it immediately collapses,” she said. “At which point, him and his wife say ‘quick! get out of here!’”

Ben was still giggling when he added: “It now tells a story. It tells a new story. Art evolves doesn’t it?” Rachel replied: “They’ve added, you can say, to the art work.”

The hosts went on to comment on the aftermath, with Rachel pointing out: “The couple apparently fled the museum before staff noticed what had happened.

“I mean quite how sort of vigorously this couple is now being pursued by the authorities I do not know, they certainly left their mark.”

Ben laughed again, telling viewers: “They did, indeed. Imagine that moment of horror when it happened and you thought ‘Oh dear, we’re in trouble’.”

Rachel chimed in: “Then realised that it has been beamed around the world on news programmes.”

“Exactly. Like this,” Ben replied. But the presenting duo’s jokey tone didn’t sit well with many watching from home. Viewers quickly took to social media to voice their disappointment with the hosts for ‘trivialising’ the destruction of a valuable piece of art.

One person took to X saying: “I hope they catch the couple from the museum. Also don’t understand why BBC Breakfast are treating it as a laugh and a joke.”

Another added: “Seem to have totally skipped over the fact the guy destroyed a piece of art… He had no right to try it out! #BBCBreakfast.”

This comes after Ben admitted to being embarrassed last year when he mistakenly thought a guest was disagreeing with him on air, but she actually had a brain disorder that was causing involuntary muscle spasms, shaking her face and neck.

He told fellow BBC Breakfast host Sarah Campbell: “The thing about this job that we do is that if you say something wrong, put your foot in it, it can very easily go viral.”

POLICE have issued CCTV footage in the hopes of finding a woman who went missing three months ago.

Portia Vincent-Kirby, 33, disappeared on February 21 at around 8.45pm after seeing friends in Hyde Park, London.

Portia was reported missing on March 13, prompting police to begin trawling CCTV footage in a bid to trace her

The last confirmed sighting of her was at the Blind Beggar pub in Whitechapel on Friday March 14.

Portia, who is single and lives alone in a flat in North Finchley, is described as slim with blue eyes and shoulder-length dyed blonde hair, but often wears a baseball cap.

The sociable, outgoing young woman ran as the Green Party candidate for Hendon, North London, in 2019 – with her brother saying “she’s not the kind of person who just vanishes“.

Her family are urging her to contact them, after it was revealed by police her phone and bank cards have not been used in weeks.

Her mum, Janina said: “We are all very worried as Portia is very vulnerable.

“Portia has not been in contact with or seen by any family or friends since February.

“We appeal to the public for anyone to please come forward if they know anything about her or her whereabouts.

“We also appeal to Portia directly, please get in touch with any of your family or friends.”

PC Harjinder Kang, from the Met’s north west missing persons unit, added: “We are growing increasingly concerned for Portia’s safety, as this behaviour is out of character for her.

“We urge anyone who may have seen her to contact police.

“Officers have been carrying out a number of enquiries in an effort to trace her and we are now turning to the public for help.

“Please get in touch if you can help us locate Portia.”

Speaking previously, her brother Max, 31, said: “She’s got a master’s degree, she’s an intelligent girl, she’s not the kind of person who just vanishes.

“It’s like she’s dropped off the face of the earth.

He added: “She is very much her own person, but she has lots of friends.

“We reported her missing on March 13 after we realised none of her friends had seen her in weeks.

“The police were then able to look at her bank cards and phone, they can check when it was last used unlike using the ticks on Whatsapp to see if messages were delivered.

“They found out that they hadn’t been used for nearly three weeks, since the start of March.

“Who doesn’t need money for nearly three weeks? Even if you’d met someone you’d go out and get coffee or something, it just doesn’t make sense.”

Tourists travelling to Belgium are literally picking apart centuries of history in the fairytale-esque city, where authorities have now pleaded with visitors to show some ‘respect’

Most travellers leave a European city break with a fridge magnet or maybe a cute vintage scarf, but it turns out some people are taking much more damaging keepsakes – bits of the actual street.

That’s what’s happening in Bruges, the fairy-tale-like city in Belgium that’s also a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Officials are now begging tourists to stop stealing the city’s historic cobblestones, which date back to the Middle Ages.

Bruges, which attracts over 8 million visitors every year, is best known for its chocolate shops, charming canals, and old-world vibes. But behind the picture-perfect views, locals say the city is literally being picked apart by overbearing tourists who want to take a piece of it home.

Franky Demon, a city councillor, says Bruges is losing between 50 and 70 cobblestones every month. And while it might seem harmless to lift a loose one from the ground, replacing them costs €200 (£168) per square metre – a price that’s quickly adding up.

“We ask for nothing but respect,” he told The Brussels Times. “Walking in Bruges means treading on centuries of history. Please leave these stones where they belong.”

It’s not just the cost – the theft is damaging some of the city’s most iconic areas, including the Grand Place, Vismarkt, the Gruuthuse Museum and the Lake of Love known as Minnewater – a romantic beauty spot that’s sadly seeing more empty patches than ever.

While heritage plays a huge part in the city’s charm, it’s also a safety issue. With so many of Bruges’ visitors exploring the town on foot, gaps left by missing stones are becoming trip hazards, turning scenic strolls into risky ones.

Over on Reddit, both tourists and locals have been weighing in with suggestions to fix the problem. Some have called for fines and tougher penalties, while others say replicas should be sold in gift shops to stop people from taking the real deal.

CCTV has also been suggested, but for many users, it’s baffling as to why anyone would want to steal a cobblestone in the first place.

One local shared: “I once caught a tourist digging a stone out of the street. I told them horses have been s***ting on it for decades. They didn’t listen and took it anyway.”

The cobble chaos is just one example of overtourism hitting major European destinations. Bruges has already slashed cruise ship arrivals to limit footfall. Meanwhile, Venice has doubled its tourist tax and Palma has capped tour group sizes.
