Big Brother fans rush to defend controversial housemate after ‘awkward’ mistake

Big Brother viewers have rallied behind the reality star after she was labelled ‘disrespectful’

Big Brother fans have rushed to defend a controversial contestant amid online backlash.

American housemate Johanne, 44, was labelled ‘disrespectful’ after she walked into the storage room while Omar was praying towards the end of Wednesday night’s episode of the ITV series. She began searching for a drink, apparently unaware of what he was doing.

Once Johanne realised, she apologised and left the room. She later apologised to Omar again, explaining that she had no idea he was praying. While some viewers criticised the interruption, others argued it was a genuine mistake and questioned whether Omar had been given enough privacy in the shared house.

“Omar should have let them know he was going in to pray you could tell she genuinely didn’t know #bbuk,” one viewer wrote on X, formerly Twitter. Another suggested: “I do think Omar should probably have a more private place to pray though how are all housemates going to know #bbuk.”

The encounter nevertheless left some fans cringing. As OK! reports, one posted: “I’ve never gotten worse second hand embarrassment in my life #bbuk.” A second wrote: “Stop that was so awkward poor Omar #BBUK.”

Others took a harsher view of Johanne’s behaviour. One wrote: “Wow Joanne is so disrespectful my lord. #bbuk.” Another added: “Joanne interrupting Omar praying? ! Holy s*** that’s incredibly disrespectful #BBUK.”

The debate came just four days after the new contestants moved into the house, with tensions already emerging. Tonight’s episode also saw Charlotte, who is an amputee, and Rochelle at the centre of the drama after Rochelle revealed she had long had a phobia of people with limb differences.

Meanwhile, Millie, Pauline and Rochelle were confirmed as the housemates facing the series’ first eviction.

The trio had been offered a lifeline if they could identify Big Brother’s moles, Tays and Philip. All three failed to expose the undercover housemates, leaving them facing the public vote.

Voting is now open for Friday’s (September 18) eviction, with viewers asked to choose the housemate they want to leave.

The evicted contestant will then join presenters AJ Odudu and Will Best for a live interview.

Big Brother is available to stream on ITVX

But Mark, 39, was actually out playing golf and was spectacularly exposed when Michelle FaceTimed him live on air.

The hilarious incident unfolded on Heart Breakfast when Michelle appeared as a guest to promote her new drama The Blame.

“Shock, he’s at golf,” Michelle, 39, remarked as the star popped up on the video call before demanding: “I’ve got a question – where’s the baby?”

A flustered Mark responded: “She’s with my mum. She’s seeing her nanny today.”

Michelle then clapped back: “You told me you weren’t golfing today. You’re in trouble!”

Mark told the other presenters: “This is what I mean, guys. You’ve got me in the doghouse!”

The couple welcomed their first child, Palma, in March 2025 after nearly ten years of marriage.

Michelle is now gearing up for the release of six-part ITV crime drama The Blame, adapted from Charlotte Langley’s debut novel of the same name.

She plays DI Emma Crane, who investigates the murder of a young figure skater while confronting corruption and misogyny within the police force.

The series marks Michelle’s first acting role since giving birth to Palma.

She said earlier this year: “Coming back to work after having a baby is quite daunting.

“But the production were so supportive and I was so looked after. It was like working with family.”

However, the actress recently pulled out of another major ITV drama amid concerns its demanding filming schedule would keep her away from Palma for too long.

Michelle had been due to play a working-class barrister but withdrew several months before filming began, with former Doctor Who star Jodie Whittaker, 44, stepping into the role.

Although Michelle had committed to the project and filming dates had been agreed, she reportedly walked away before signing a contract.

The Blame begins on ITV and ITVX on September 20.

After reading out some of the guesses from listeners, he followed up with their names and where they’re from, as per radio tradition.

The next guess was Joe Dolce’s hit Shaddap You Face, with Spoony saying, “Someone always guesses Joe Dolce.”

He then added that the guess was from, “Ben Down and Phil McAvity.”

Thankfully, Spoony mispronounced the two surnames and saved himself the embarrassment of having read two very rude prank names.

The Radio 2 star has been filling in for Trevor Nelson over the past two months after he was diagnosed with a brain tumour,

Trevor suddenly stepped away from his weekday radio show in June and returned to social media to update fans on why he was absent.

The dad-of-two said he felt he wanted to share more details due to the outpouring of love he had received.

He said: “I was minding my own business and then it was discovered I had a brain tumour.

“As you can imagine, I was shocked. In fact, my world was turned upside down.

“Quite literally, my head was all over the place. I knew I had to stop work because I couldn’t be that guy on the radio knowing I had that going on.”

After confirming his surgery was a success, Trevor said he’d been at home “recuperating and resting” and having post-op treatment.

He went on: “I can only tell you the truth, and the truth is I feel great right now.”

Trevor added he was back playing golf and in the gym and living his old life, except for the radio and gigs.

The veteran DJ hosts the afternoon show on Radio 2 between 2 and 4pm.

In February, Lily confirmed she’s in a new relationship with Jonah Freud.

And while she is hesitant to speak about the romance publicly, Lily has opened up on her bedroom preferences in a very open new interview.

Talking about her opinions on porn, she told Perfect Magazine: “There have been times when I’ve been a porn enthusiast. I’m not currently in one of those periods.”

Admitting she recently had a blunder with new beau Jonah about porn, Lily continued: “However, I did try to get on to Pornhub the other day because my phone was connected to the Bluetooth speaker [backstage at a show] and I thought it would be really funny while everyone was getting ready to go to the toilet and put porn on and everyone would think I was secretly watching it in the toilet.

“But the wifi wouldn’t allow me to go on any restricted sites, so I couldn’t do it.

“And then I was in bed with my boyfriend later and when he asked me to Google something, Pornhub came up on my search history and I tried to explain but it just didn’t sound very believable.”

Lily added that she wasn’t embarrassed but was “annoyed” her other half didn’t believe her.

The singer confirmed her relationship in February after being spotted with Jonah several times.

After being asked who the last person she texted was in an interview, she replied: “My boyfriend.”

However, she didn’t expand further on the romance.

It comes after she split from husband David Harbour last year.

It is reported Lily turned detective after growing suspicious that her hubby was cheating and caught him out on Raya — the same app where she met him in 2019.
